"Jariel!" Tamari yelled once more then the switch was flipped. For a moment it was as if time stood still. Everything froze in its place but their consciousness still worked within its normal parameter. Then there was the feeling of a rush that overcame everyone in the crew. Like they were being thrust through a pool of rushing water going the opposite direction and hellbent on pulling every molecule within their bodies apart. Looking around the room there was only a slight shift in the objects within the ship the sensation was nearly overwhelming. It lasted for only a split second before a sense of normally returned and the ship settled into a gentle hum while they cruised through space with the ease of a jetliner flying through calm skies.
Tamari sighed and sunk down into her chair at the same time as Jariel. When the two glanced at each other they laughed a bit uneasily in a short celebration. "Tell Ruf to get a damage report." She told him and leaned forward to glance down at her screen once more before getting up out of her chair. "Also have him tune the radar and make sure that the proximity alert actually goes off next time." Jariel nodded and sat up to punch new commands into his console as Tamari turned to leave the bridge once more. Now that the excitement was over she could resume her discussion with Ryder.
She headed back down to the mess hall and eventually found Ryder with a bag in his hand. "Oh, good. Someone got you a sick back. Good thing too else you'd be cleaning a whole sector for your first job." She said with a smile and slapped him on the back in what was supposed to be a reassuring manner. "That was the alliance. Be glad we picked you up. If they had they'd keep you as an experiment then probably kill ya since primitive planet inhabitants aren't supposed to be out here."

As the ship suddenly jolt forward - he felt nothing that he had experience before. His hand reached forward and he gripped the railing. The moment of going from the comparison of dead stop to as fast as light. It was instantaneous. His head slowly turned and he watched as the colors of the great space blended together like a wet painting turned on its side. His experience in his ship was glorious, but this was sheer immense power.
Though as soon as it began - it had ended. His footing gave away and he collapsed onto the ground. His hand gripped the bag and instantly his insides gave out. All that he ate filled the bag, until he was left dry heaving on the floor. "God damn" he groaned. His head throbbed insanely, and his entire body felt like it had been torn in half - and put back together. The Seer had stood and passed him in the hallway, chuckling as he slowly walked away.
His eyes studied the man - walking so easily, as if he was born in the midst of lightspeed. Though, almost to his rescue, Tamari returned to him. He slowly stood, hands clasping the bag shut, another about the railing. "Aye..." he coughed then and balanced himself - following behind her then. "Alliance huh?" he glanced to a trashcan - and tossed the bag into it. "Doesn't sound very friendly..."
"So I guess I shouddn't tell everyone I am from Earth, hm?" he paused then. "Everything aside... I would really like to know how you guys just did... what you just did. This kind of technology is far beyond anything I've seen. Hence the primitive part..." he stepped forward once more. "But how did you do that? Jet up that fast, how did you maintain the heat? What is your energy source?" he held back the fifty other questions he had.

Tamari chuckled at his questions and shook her head. "Now I would rather get to know you a bit more before I showed you what's under this girl's hood." She pat the wall of the ship, and don't be going to ask any of my crew either. They won't help ya any more than they have to. It wasn't necessarily true, but he didn't need to know that. Her crew would actually pretty much do anything as long as they thought the had a fair trade off. Well, almost anything. "I'll just say you gotta know how to sidestep a few "fundamental" rules and then a whole new realm of possibilities open up."
She clasped her hands together and her eyes traveled along his body for a moment as if she were searching for something. "Now then, not hurt again are yea?" Scanner said you were rather fragile kind of creature. If not you can toss your sick back in the bin and then I'll show ya to your quarters. After that I'll take ya where you're gonna learn to earn your keep while on board. If ya do good, hard work then I'll even consider paying ya a wage."
Turning on her heel Tamari lead the way down the hall and a flight of metal stairs that then split off into several long and narrow corridors. "Make sure you remember which room you're in. Don't want to barge in on someone else." As she walked she had a happy skip to her step from her good mood. Also at various times and during certain motions designs seemingly set into her skin like that of spirals seemed to glow for a moment then fade back to her pale color. It wasn't very bright but enough that the swirling designs shone brightly in a vast array of colors.
Once they had almost reached the end of the hall she stopped at a heavy bulkhead-like door. Though when she reached up to touch the smooth black metal there were a few white colored sensors that lit up showing recognition and the door swung open with the same ease as if it had been made of a flimsy wood panel door. The room inside was about 8'x12' and held a bunk at the far end with several panels on the wall. "A bed to sleep in and I'm sure you'll push ever panel in the room to figure out what they do." She stepped aside to allow him to enter. "Oh, and.." She placed her hand against the open door once more. "Set new room owner: Ryder." She told it and then the room lights brightened then dimmed once more. "Helps if your room recognizes you. Also keeps everyone else out, except me and my co-pilot of course."

Ryder gave a faint laugh when she cracked the initial joke. "Ah, well, usually I'd offer my finest wine before asking, but you know. Can't do that here" he followed her then as they walked forward. His eyes glanced over her skin - it was different. It didn't have pores like his own. It was perfectly smooth. Then as he looked - a traversing glow traced out the most perfect of spiral, before nearly dancing away in another direction. Just when he thought he might have been done asking questions - upon every glance came another. Though it seemed he was left to his own devices until then. "As for how I feel? Thank you kindly for asking, I knew you were a sweet person when I met you. Think of it like this..." he held two hands up, motioning as he spoke now. "Think of an asteroid running you over, right? But built int the asteroid is a huge rocket booster. The thing backs up, and then blasts forward and runs you over again... Yup, that's how I feel" he lowered his hands after motioning some object crashing into his other hand.
"Free labor?" He exclaimed then with a gasp upon his face. "You mean to say the white man is the minority here?" he huffed then. "Fine fine" then finally he cracked a grin. "You'll be paying me in no time. I'm... pretty great at just about anything - oh, except dancing. I'm very bad at that" he came upon the door and stared forward. "Huh?" the door recognized her, and opened up.
"Hmm... looks seemingly close to a jail cell" he stepped inside and placed a hand on the cot. "I like it" he grinned. "But if you're just going to barge in - make sure to do it at a minimum of 15 minutes after we rise. That's my me time, think of it like personal meditation, if I don't do it. I die" he spoke dramatically, grinning then. "I guess I'll play with the room first, before then" he stepped back out and then nodded. He reached forward then and pressed a hand to a glass panel. It lit up with a screen and was instantly playing a show. "Oh man, you get cable from here?" he grinned as he crossed his arms, the colors flashing before him. "This is... whoa, hold on. 3D?" he leaned forward, he could see all the curves in the body of Deadpool, the movie playing in the box. The distance between him and everything else, perfectly. Not a blemish in the graphics. "Wow... Yeah - this guy - a real bad ass..." he laughed and then touched the screen, it turned off then. "Secretly apart of me just want's to be that dude, though I doubt you really care. Right, so. My job?" he stepped to the door to follow her once more.

Given Ryder's situation and complete dependency on Tamari for survival he handled everything quite well in her opinion. If she were in his shoes she would have been worried if not outright scared of what her captors held in store for her. She had to admire his confidence. When he turned on the monitor and she saw the character in black and red on she tilted her head slightly. It was a strange get up and nothing like what he wore. Presumably he was human, like Ryder, but as she saw the man take a shot from a weapon and mildly complain about the event she wasn't quite sure.
When he asked about his job Tamari's attention switched back from the monitor once more and she nodded. "Right, you'll be helping out with cargo when we get to planets, but while we're out here you'll be helping Seer with general maintenance. He'll teach you whatever you need to know and make sure you listen to him. Not much gets past him either so I wouldn't try slacking." She motioned for him to follow and took him back down the hall the way they had come in.
"It'll take a couple days for us to reach our destination." She told him as they got to the end of the hall and she opted to take a lift rather than the stairs this time so they had to wait for a moment while it came to their floor. "When you're not on shift just stay out of trouble and you'll be fine. Or come find me if you have any questions. I'm normally up in the bridge anyway." When the lift arrived she stepped inside the small space. "Think you can manage?"

Ryder followed as they stepped down the hallway. "General Maintenance? Well, better than nothing" he stepped into the lift then and placed a hand upon the railing, leaning slightly. "So, what happens when someone tries to, I don't know, Eat me or something? I wonder if humans are delicious to some..." he thought for a moment and then shrugged. "Question... is there a species out there that only thrives on Blood? There is this thought where I come from - of Vampires. Creatures who suck blood to stay alive, live for near eternity. It is a concept, I wonder if it exists..." he seemed to just wonder out loud, aimlessly.
"Never the less" he straightened up as the door opened. "I do have a legitimate question, what is the rule on Weapons? I have just one, but if we're going to deliver stuff on... planets. I should have something to defend myself, hm? In the worse case scenarios. I bet you guys get into a bit of trouble on the occasion?" he questioned.
"Other than that... when do I start my first shift, Captain?" he asked as they exited the lift. The doors closed quietly, and they continued onward. It seemed this ship was far bigger than he imagined. He wondered how long it would be until he traversed the entire thing...

Tamari started Ryder on his shift pretty much immediately. As soon as she managed to locate Seer who when found was simply smiling in a knowing fashion and patiently waiting for his new charge in order to show him around the various spaces within the ship. Seer was an odd character, even to Tamari. He always seemed to know what she wanted him to do before she even had much of a chance to think about it herself. He had also enlisted on her crew himself rather than being recruited like the rest. He had walked on board and simply stated that he was reporting for duty and would begin immediately. At first Tamari opposed him, of course, but after talking with him for only a few minutes Tamari agreed to let him on board. Ever since then he had been one of her most faithful and dependable crewmen and quickly earned his keep.
Most of the rest of the flight Tamari remained in within the bridge, even sleeping there most of the time, until they reached their destination planet where they would meet the buyer of their cargo. The seller had already paid the transport fees but had promised Tamari that additional payment would be forthcoming upon delivery. Normally such circumstances weren't excepted but the initial fees had been such a large sum and paid without contest that she agreed and was rather curious just how much they were going to get out of the whole ordeal. Then of course they were going after the ultimate treasure after that and maybe she could retire on a small planet of her own after that.
When they arrived on the dusty planet and were given a green light for entry they made their way into the atmosphere and onto the docks with ease, and as their ship was coupled onto the dock Tamari opened the cargo doors to begin unloading their payload. Luckily it seemed their buyer was waiting on them as there was a small group of sharply dressed olnohs waiting for them. The beings were humanoid but sported several pairs of eyes that went all the way around their heads and their colorful hair stood straight up a couple of feet and was styled in various ways to signify their rank. Their bodies were slim and they wore flowing robes with intricate patterns on it and a slight metallic sound could be heard as they moved, like they wore trinkets that clinked together under their robes. Their smiles were full of razor sharp teeth and though their smiles were pleasant it was still a rather intimidating sight. "Welcome, we trust you had a smooth voyage?"
"Smooth enough." Tamari replied with a pleasant smile of her own. Her multicolored eyes were alert and she watched every one of their hosts' movements very carefully. In her line of work she hardly trusted anyone and was very familiar with those that tried to bully her into submission since her small frame gave the impression of a weak physique to many of the different races.
"Glad to hear it. As thanks for delivering these to us we wish to invite you and your crew to a feast this evening." The being in the middle of the five told her and motioned back towards the city that the docks were connected to.
Tamari didn't want to accept. She wanted to unload, refuel, buy some supplies and then get back out there. However, Tamari knew that refusing such an offer from these people would only create problems from the insult that would be taken by refusal. So she continued to smile and nodded. "We would be honored." She told them.

General Maintenance was not quite what Ryder expected. He was ushered away to meet the Seer, who held a small red tool box in his hand, waiting for Ryder. The Seer then walked back over to the café and ordered a cup of what looked to be like coffee, but smelled terrible to his senses. The Seer then held out a piece of paper. A list of things that needed repair. Though it was teeny tiny things. First one the list was to tighten the bolts on a internal air vent. Another was to secure a chair.... put a lock on some box. It was just a laundry list of tiny things...
When he questioned the Seer - the old being just chuckled and waved him away. So, began his quest of venturing the learning the ship. He had to stop and ask the occasional passer byer where some of the rooms where, but he was able to decently figure it out. When he finished the first few items he was released to his room... Where he pulled up a map of the ship and took several pictures on his phone. Then he glanced to his phone - low battery. No Signal. Not Internet. He sighed then as he slumped onto his bed. He opened the phone and swiped to the images...
He stood then and made his way out the room and down the hallways, until he came upon the Hangar, to his ship.... "We're scrapping it" A strange being stood before it. "So you better get whatever you need" the blue creature turned to him, his eyes moving separately on their own, like round marbles glowing in the night.
"Uhuh…" Ryder then stepped towards the ship. It was tiny in comparison to even the Hangar it sat in. He climbed inside and stepped to the chair of the cockpit. He reached forward then and plucked an image that was tacked off to the side. A little girl, maybe 4 or 5, stood in a pink dress, hands clasped forward - ringlets of blonde hair all around her fragile face... He slipped it into his pocket and then moved to the lockers, where he lifted a bag and glanced around. His hand touched the metal panel of the interior...
Though he had help - he built most of the ship himself. The blueprints where his own design, down to deciding the type of metal and how it was bolted down. It wasn't much, but it was more than any other human could say. He lifted the bag and pulled it over his shoulder.
"Hey" The blue figure called to him as he made his way out.
"Yeah?" Ryder paused, looking to him then.
"Your species.. never learned to harness the energy of the Sun?" he questioned. "My logs here show a carbonate fuel, which is low grade, I am impressed you got as far as you did on it. It's the byproduct of the dead" he shook his head.
"Well, not quite. I mean, we could draw energy from it like a plant does" his brows pulled together. "What do you mean by Harness?"
"Well" the creature turned and looked back to him. "Sunlight itself is a microscopic release of energy from the sun. Gather enough of it - and then break it apart, you can actually draw the exact Energy Components and the organization of xactotrons" he spoke clearly. Ryder knew right away this man was some kind of scientist.
"Xactotrons?" Ryder's brows pulled together then, curiously.
"Yes, you have things that make up matter - and then thing's that make up Energy. Like the energy release when you move your hand. The amount of power it emits is actually a Xactotron composition - arranged uniquely. If you grasp these composits and break them apart - you can rebuild the structure, think of it like this.. When you split an atom - it releases an immense explosion--"
"The Atom Bomb, yeah" Ryder cut him off, engaged in the conversation now.
"Ahem, sure. Well, the power releasing from it is the creation of Xactotron Composits. Now if you take a Composit and split that again - you get something even bigger. The easiest way to get Xactotron's is from the Rays of Sun" he held his hand up. "And we draw in that power every so often, we'll zip by a Star and soak it in. With the combination of Xactotron technology and Fuel Technology - we reach warp speeds, extreme distances, with hardly the requirements" the man beamed then, smiling in awe of his own knowledge.
"Wow..." Ryder gripped the bag and then laughed slightly. "That kind of power... to my people - oh that would be terrifying. I hope they never discover that..." he shook his head, and then laughed.
"Ah, you have much to learn then. A Xactotron Cannon can destroy an entire planet" The man spoke, chuckling slightly.
"Well... Thank you...Uhh, Whats your name?" he questioned.
"Garvandolnark, or, Garv, if you please." he bowed his head then.
"Ryder - listen, I am interested in more, maybe we can chat some time. I have to be off though" he smiled, and then left.
The thoughts from Garv lingered in his head. This entire concept that Energy could be harnessed and even measured in such fashion, broken down and split apart, and recreated. But how? What device let them even know it was there to be grabbed. It blew his mind as he continued his job. Though a few days had passed. The ship was silent - no one really spoke to him, some scoffed as he walked by. He was a tiny creature compared to some of the brutes. Though everyone here served some kind of purpose, it seemed.
"Alright, Come with me Outsider" A giant man approached. To Ryder he reminded him of the Hulk. Huge muscles and arms, and a tiny head. Though this man was a off tan color, he appeared to have no ears or nose, just little holes, like a snake almost. His steps came with a sort of rumble and sound... "We are landing now, you will help offload the cargo"
"Okay" Ryder followed. As the ship gently docked - the cargo bay opened. Several men, including Ryder, rolled the large boxes off and onto the deck. They were corralled to push it into another ship, guided by odd creatures in robes - with about a million eyes. Like spiders. Ryder tried not to stare, instead he just pushed it along. As he came back he lifted a smaller box, one he could carry easily.
Though suddenly he stumbled, his footing gave to a small ledge. He fell forward and the box hit the ground, cracking open then. A kind of gas emerged from it. Ryder swiftly closed the box, only to cough several times in the meantime. "The hell?" he questioned softly, his eyes teared slightly from the coughing. His lungs felt aflame, but it died away in moments... He continued to carry the boxes in, until the cargo bay was empty.
He was guided to Tamari's side, though he felt a little light headed. "Food?" He questioned as Tamari came back from the conversation with the spider people. "I am starving" he spoke and gave a slight cough. "You think they serve steak?"

Tamari glanced to Ryder when she heard him cough and gave him a bit of a confused glance though it didn't linger and she cast the man a small smile when he asked about the food. "Yes, food Mr. Ryder. Though I don't think they'll be serving anything you've had before. I hope you have a hard stomach." She told him with a bit of a chuckle and motioned for him to follow. "It's their custom invite guests for dinner but it's also expected that we show the greatest of gratitude by not complaining about what they serve. Keep that in mind, hmm?" She clasped his shoulder and gave him a smirk before continuing to walk back into the ship. She needed to change clothes and the crew needed to finish unpacking the cargo. "We also need to get ya some new clothes. It's good to be presentable when you're an honored guest."
She lead him all the way back to her own private quarters. When the door opened it revealed a room much larger than his own and the walls were lined with tapestries and various odd looking relics. The bed was by a window and sported a colorful arrangement of blankets and pillows. "I think I have something you can wear." She walked over to a chest that was pushed up against a far wall and opened it reveal haphazardly thrown in garments. She began to rummage through them, tossing several over her shoulder when she ruled them out of the realm of possibility. "Ah ha!" She stated and held up a red shirt that almost looked as if it were covered in fine scales. Its shape was like that of a leather vest but had sleeves that would go part of the way down his biceps. "This will work I think, and your current pants should work well enough." She tossed him the shirt and then walked across the room to standing cabinet and pulled out a black garment garment with a few ties and complicated looked dips. "And maybe brush your hair?" She told him with a smile.
