Amaryll closed her eyes as she felt Lena’s hand upon her shoulder, the magic coursed through her body. Their connection that they had after the event was unique in a way that she couldn’t describe. She opened her eyes as the egg glowed and Zion announced that the dragon was coming. The princess stepped forward, her muscles still tired. She watched in awe as the dragon emerged from the shell and a smile came from her lips to his small caw of a roar. The dragon had beautiful blue scales that were varying degrees of blue and teal. He held small wings upon his back and black horns upon his head. His eyes were a striking icy blue color. The dragon wobbled forward and pressed its snout into Amaryll’s outstretched palm. She chuckled softly as she watched his movements.
“You are bound to him, as he is bound to you, Amaryll.” Zion spoke. “We will survey Talamuk to understand the damages our home has taken.” He took a few steps, his eyes looked to King Stone. “We will be back. Amaryll, do not hesitate to call for me if you are in need.” He narrowed his eyes at the king then before the dragons shuffled from the room.
The young dragon looked about to those that sat at the table. Some looked at him in fear for Alibaster, though the councilmen of Talamuk smiled. The princess then looked to her mother whom was in tears. She was locked behind the sides of Alibaster. Those who hated the dragons. She looked to her father whom smiled like a proud father should. “Right.” Amaryll spoke up before she cleared her throat. “Talamuk will protect Alibaster.” She spoke as she looked to the king. “We will not request that Talamuk rule over your lands, of course.” She tacked onto the end. “We request that Alibaster would be so generous to provide soldiers to aid in the war efforts against the humans so that we may put this horrible past five years to rest and regain control of our home. Trade agreements will be signed and Alibaster and Talamuk will work together, rather than against one another. The dragons.” She spoke and paused as her dragon climbed upon her shoulder and perched himself there, he cawed as he looked to king stone. “Will aid in the war, there are one with Talamuk. Do you accept this agreement, King Stone?”
King Stone took in a breath as he looked to the princess. He stared to the small dragon a moment before he finally nodded. “O-of course Princess.” He replied. “I will have our generals gather our soldiers and we will aid Talamuk in regaining control of their land.” He was clearly still shaken by the dragon elves that had walked into the room.
Amaryll smiled as she looked to him, “Good, smart to make an agreement, a good one at that.” She spoke as she looked to her councilmen and then to her father and nodded before they stood and exited the room. Many of the councilmen nodded to her and gave their thanks to her as they left.
“That was incredible. “Arvin spoke as he came from the war room. “You’ve learned well over the years.” He smiled. “I think you’re fit to be a rather excellent queen.” He chuckled softly.
Amaryll smiled to her father. “I learned from watching the best.” She winked and then she turned as she saw the queen come from the war room. She was one of the last to leave. “Mother...”
Tourmaline came to her side. Her eyes were still glassy with tears that she held back. “I’m so proud of you Amaryll.” She breathed. “If only I could be at your side to help.”
“Tourmaline.” King Stone called.
“I must go.” She turned and hurried off to catch up to the king.
Amaryll furrowed her brows slightly. She didn’t like this. She hated that the family was separated. The dragon upon her shoulder growled slightly. She looked up to him as smoke came from his nostrils, his eyes upon King Stone. “No no.” She pat his head. “Not now.” She sighed softly as she leaned against the balcony. “How are you supposed to carry me into battle? You’re tiny.” She laughed lightly as she looked out over the city. “Your wings won’t even hold you up, I’d be willing to bet.”

Lena stepped back as the dragon came to be, her eyes looking the glorious beast that cawed to its master. She smiled weakly and then stepped away, allowing the Princess her room as she addressed the people. She was strong in her stance, not a soul tried to argue, not a soul dared to. Lena bowed her head as she listened. As the room began to disassemble, Lena lingered near by, listening to the King and the Princess.
The Oracle stepped up then and smiled as Amaryll spoke to her dragon. "Did you think we would take your home tonight?" the Oracle waved her over and continued forward. "Not tonight, but soon..." she walked then, leading the Princess down a hallway. "Dragons are purely magical beasts. They are formulated from a very ancient and powerful type of magic - Arcane" she glanced to her and then continued forward. "Arcane is considered one of the most difficult to master, this is the new power within you.. It is the magic of the stars, the Magic that created the core of this earth... all the other magics, and life we know - derive from this core and ancient magic..."
They turned then and made their way to the library, the old womans steps slow as they moved. "The Dragons are true creations of this magic, and thusly - they feed on it. They draw it from the world, and grow upon them... With the aid of the Dragon Council - and yourself, you can fuel the growth of The Grand Dragon..." she stopped before the door that lead down below. "The ancient city, which rests below Talamuk and Alibaster alike - was that of a beautiful magical city, the Dragon Riders and their Dragons thrived heavily. Just below it is a Font of Arcane... The room below is exactly atop it..." she looked to Amaryll for a moment, smiling. "The Font of power originated from a kind of Arcane Geyser that originates from the core of the earth, where Arcane is most abundant... The life source of our earth..." she lifted a hand then and a flame hovered in her palm.
Rykalis stepped forward and down the stairs, until they came before a large wall. "Here it is depicted... How the earth began" she held a hand up to the painting. She walked several feet. "The Dragons...." and then to the end of the painting, passing over many details. "When the last dragon was defeated... he did not die. Rather, a huge burst of power came from him. The Geyser exploded in a ravage power. Thus the fault was created. Many believe an Earthquake, but no... this was the act of a Dragon and its power... It split Talamuk and Alibaster. Destroying villages and towns, killing thousands - a last moment of pure power and rage. The Dragon preserved his soul..." she turned her gaze to the small dragon mounted on Amaryll's shoulder. "And now he returns to exact his revenge..." she smirked.
"When the Dragon Council returns... you should meet them in the temple" she nodded down the stairs, back to the huge room of whence the dragons came. "Use the geysers power and fuel your dragon's growth..." she spoke and then nodded. "but for now... you should rest. Come now" she waved her forward and they returned to the castle.
Lena stepped forward, bowing her head to the Oracle and to Amaryll. "I have been told to keep an eye on you, Princess" she smirked. "Come, we should get you something to eat..." she lead her out of the castle and towards the city. She stopped the Princess and then grinned. "I heard something from a few Knights..." she looked a little sheepish for a moment.
"Did you ever hear the songs of Ren the Captain of Flotsam?" she smirked. "The Fae Princess who ran from the throne, to captain the first flying ship... battling wars that weren't her own, stealing riches..." she chuckled then. "All stories..." she shook her head. "Ren has been sighted, Flotsam flies over us" she pointed up the sky, a large floating ship rest in the air. It was different than the Zepplins. It was truly a flying Pirate ship.
"Do you think we could find her?" She questioned. "She... has always been an inspiration, well, a fae tale, but perhaps now true?" she chuckled. "Come on, what do you say?"

Amaryll smirked as she heard the voice of the oracle. She let out a soft chuckle. “One can only hope. Though, I knew that it would take some time before we were able to launch a proper attack.” She turned and followed Rykalis. Her dragon tilted his head and made soft sounds as he listened to the wise elf speak. She was silent as they stood before the beautifully drawn out images her eyes gazed up. The small dragon let out a growl as he leaped down from her shoulder when Rykalis spoke of the revenge of the great dragon. He ran around the room playfully, smoke coming from his nostrils. Amaryll watched him with a smile upon her lips, she’d read little of the dragon riders when she was young. But this, this was a whole different feeling.
The princess nodded and followed the oracle as they moved back toward the castle. Her dragon once again climbed and perched himself upon her shoulder. He nuzzled the side of her head briefly and then looked to the oracle again. Amaryll turned her attention to Lena as they exited the castle. “You heard something?” She raised a brow, her eyes curious. She found herself staring up into the sky at the floating pirate ship. Her jaw loosened and she grinned. The small dragon flapped his small wings and flew up a few feet before he fell back into the princess’ arms. “You can’t fly quite yet little one.” She chuckled as she arranged him onto her shoulder again, the dragon huffed and snorted slightly. “Having Ren upon our side would be an advantage. I’ve read the stories of Flotsam.” She chuckled as she looked to Lena. “I thought it was merely a tale as well, though clearly there is more to the stories and tales within our books than we might have realized. Hm?”
Amaryll pondered a moment. “If I do remember correctly Ren had a fascination for chocolate...” She paused in her speaking. A young child was staring to the two in awe, his eyes fixed on the dragon upon the princess’ shoulder. The dragon tilted his head at the child when he noticed Amaryll’s gaze. He cooed and leaped down from her shoulder. The child flinched and took several steps back. “It’s okay.” Amaryll knelt down and the boy ran forward and hugged himself to her. “It’s alright, he isn’t going to hurt you see?” She held her hand forward and the dragon nuzzled her palm just like he had when he was fresh out of the egg. “He’s our friend. He’s going to help Talamuk.” The princess spoke as the young toddler clung to her.
“Your dragon is beautiful.” A woman spoke a soft smile upon her lips. “The council spoke of him.” She looked to her young child whom touched the nose of the dragon now. “Lena.” The woman looked to her. “Thank you for doing everything you’ve done for us...without you...Talamuk would not have a future.” She then looked to her young son. “Come on, let the princess go, I’m sure she has more pressing things to attend to than you dear.”
Amaryll smiled as the boy hugged himself to her. “I’m glad you’re okay princess.” He pressed his face against her a long moment before he pulled away. “Bye dragon.” He pat the young dragon on his head before he ran to his mother.
Amaryll chuckled softly before she helped her dragon back onto her shoulder. “So many things are going to change, because you were brave enough to try.” She looked to Lena and smiled. Her expression became serious then, “Do you feel different? Since the temple?” She gazed into her eyes. “Since your wings...” She looked to the beautiful wings and then back to Lena. “I may be crazy.” She let out a laugh. “Or exhausted. But I feel a connection...or something a link maybe.” She shrugged. “It may be the exhaustion talking.” Her stomach rumbled. “Or the hunger.” She then glanced back up to the Flotsam. “Ren would be in a chocolate shop...wouldn’t she?” She then looked to Lena. “I’m certain a Fae would know the stories of the captain better than I.”

Lena smiled as the little boy approached. She watched the interaction, grinning at the child. As the mother approached - Lena bowed her head. "It is nice to see you again, Valiena" she smiled. "Your boy has grown so large..." she knelt down before the toddler. "You were just a baby when I saw you last..." she reached forward and pinched the little boy gently, chuckling.
"Be safe... we will be home soon enough" She spoke as the two left. Lena turned her gaze to Amaryll as she spoke. "I didn't do much to try. We did some planning but it was all luck, you are the one who suffered while we waited..." she shook her head. "I wish I was less humble, I'd accept your gracious compliment" she grinned then.
"I feel..." She sucked in a breath. "Different yes. Like something is thriving with in me, I know it is power. It's almost like... my entire life I lived with a boot on my chest, and now I finally can breath..." she paused then. "And this bond you speak of... yes" she nodded. "I can almost feel your presence, constantly. I can tell how you feel, without looking at you. And when I'm around you..." she shook her head. "I am not sure how to describe it" she bit her lip for a moment and then chuckled.
"Come on, lets go find the chocolate shop" she waved Amaryll forward. They walked for a bit until they came to the trade quarter. There were shops all about, the smell of food was thick, people bustling about - chatter all around. It was peaceful though... Lena could remember a day when Talamuk was the same.
"Over there" Lena pointed to a sign. She lead Amaryll over and opened the door and a bell rang. She looked about - no one in sight. She sighed softly and walked up to the counter. "Excuse me" she smiled and a woman approached the counter.
"Sorry, I - You'll have to forgive me. We have no chocolate to sell, we have been bought out" the woman spoke, nervous to speak.
"Bought out?" Lena questioned.
"Yes... we are packing up the goods now, expecting some ... Pirates to pick it up, that is what she said..." the woman pondered for a moment.
"Was this woman a short Fae?" Lena questioned.
"Yes, short indeed. She was here roughly 30 minutes ago..."
"Did she say where she was headed?" Lena questioned.
"Something about an arena, I've heard of it. A kind of fight club, winner takes all... I dont know, my brother was rambling about it once" the woman spoke as she packed up a few chocolates.
"Fight club? Interesting.." she glanced to Amaryll "Shall we?" she questioned.

It made Amaryll feel quite a bit better that Lena had the same strange connection with her. The same feeling. She described it almost perfectly. The princess looked to her as she spoke and a soft smile curved up her lips. At least she wasn’t alone in the feeling. The next she knew they were in the chocolate shop. She looked around to the empty shelves. “They bought….everything…?” Her eyes widened slightly. If she remembered on thing about the chocolatier in Alibaster it wasn’t cheap. It was some of the finest chocolate in all the lands. For someone to come in and buy….everything….that was truly a chunk of money. Though with what she’d read of Ren in the books, it made complete sense. She had an affliction for chocolate like none other.
The princess listened to the shopkeep as she spoke of an arena for fighting. “Your brother spoke of it? Is he here?”
The woman looked to the princess and her eyes seemed to light up. “Why, Princess Amaryll is that really you?” She smiled brightly.
“Yes.” Amaryll responded. “It’s been a long time.”
“A long time indeed.” She set down the chocolates and came around the counter to hug the princess. “It’s so good to see you...alive...with the attacks on Talamuk...even your mother thought you to be dead.” She lowered her eyes slightly.
“I know.” Amaryll responded. “So...your brother, is he here? Could he tell us of this arena?”
“Oh yes, of course.” She smiled, “Let me go get him.” She moved into the back of the store and soon enough she emerged with a younger elf he looked to the two. “That’s the princess. She’d like to know where the short fae ran off to.”
“The arena. Winner takes all. It’s a sport really. I’ve yet to win it.” He chuckled as he looked to the two. “Why would you want to go there your highness?” He questioned curiously.
“We are looking for that fae.” She responded, “Could you tell us where this arena is?”
“Oh yes, it isn’t hard to find at all. Go to the ports. It is in the largest warehouse there, a grey one. It’ll look abandoned but I assure you it isn’t.” He nodded. “Just head inside, follow the noise.” He chuckled. “I’ve really got to get packing this stuff before her men arrive, you understand?”
“Of course. Thank you.” Amaryll spoke before she glanced to Lena. “Come on.” She walked from the shop and headed directly for the port. “Interesting place to hold fights. I wonder what sort of fights they are.” She spoke and glanced to the fae. “I’ve never heard of such a thing. It sounds illegal...” She shrugged slightly. Her dragon upon her shoulder growled in agreement. “He agrees.” She chuckled and looked to the blue dragon before he leaped from her shoulder and darted ahead. Running around playfully in the empty streets of the ports. “They don’t get much trade by sea...not with the way the storms are around here. Any sea captain to ride through those storms is truly brave, or insane.” She glanced out to sea where a storm could be seen in the distance. The princess glanced around and eventually they found the warehouse. “Grey right? Abandoned looking….” She noted before she placed her hand over the handle. She gave it a turn and the door opened easily. There was a sound that came from within the warehouse, cheering, yelling, screaming. Amaryll looked to Lena and nodded. “This must be the place then...” She spoke as she headed inside.
They went down a flight of stairs to find a room full of all sorts of beings. Faes. Elves. Dwarves. Werewolves. All the like. They all cheered and yelled. Amaryll looked around almost nervously, her dragon climbed back up and perched upon her shoulder and cooed softly. “I know...” She spoke and glanced to Lena. “How are we going to find her?” She asked with a worried look in her eyes.
