Amaryll looked to Elas as he spoke that he could tell much about her just by her companions. She raised a brow though only for a moment, he wouldn’t be able to tell the whole story if he tried, she’d only just met Ward and Fana. Leila on the other hand was a good view into Amaryll, she knew her like the back of her hand. When he spoke of his time hunting she wondered if it was for sport, of it he hunted to feed his people. She found it interesting that his answer was that he used all of the game that he killed. She wouldn’t have expected that from him. She looked to Fana whom had a glare in her eyes that she’d seen before with her father and she could only smirk. “So you must plan your time out from your responsibilities then.” The princess spoke up. “Is it really leisure time if you are hunting to provide for the festivals and the villages?” She too seemed to be challenging the prince.
Elas didn’t break his composure though, he looked to the princess with a smile. “I enjoy it and if it is for the better of my people then to me that is well spent time outside of the castle walls.” He tilted his head slightly. “Just as you enjoy the battlefield. Or so I’ve heard.” He lifted his glass of wine.
“She was placed into the position by the king.” Leila spoke up. “It wasn’t truly a choice.”
Amaryll looked to Leila and let out a breath before she nodded. “What she speaks is true. When I was first sent to the battlefield as an officer most of the soldiers laughed. They stated that a princess has no place on the battlefield. That was until I saved several of the men. I’ve been training since I was old enough to hold a wooden sword. My father placed me on a strict schedule, to make leisure time would highly disappoint him and that is something that I do not aim to do.” She spoke as she eyed the prince. “So to answer your question. No. I do not enjoy the battlefield. It is a horrid place filled with death and riddled with loss. It takes the lives of good people and tosses them away for eternity all for the love of greed itself.” She lifted her glass of wine then and sipped from it before she bit her lip slightly. Her father would be displeased with her speaking to the prince about her dislike for war. Her father would disapprove of her companions sitting at the table. He wouldn’t approve of much of the conversation that they were having either. “And what of you?” She asked after a moment. “Do you enjoy the war?” She stared to him.
“What’s Newark like?” Leila spoke up to break the tension. “Is it anything like Talamuk? Do you have druids like this one?” She looked to Fana as she lifted her glass and took a drink.

"I am glad to see that not all rumors are true then if you truly dislike the battle field. For only a fool who courts death loves war." Any other royal in Elas position would feel attacked by the conversation they were having. Four versus one was an unfair disadvantage but he seemed to be enjoying the banter. He sipped his wine once more and sighed as he looked to Leila who had asked about Newark. He figured that no one had visited his country in his current company, but he was happy to answer questions. "There are similarities, yes. Though a lot of our cities are built on cliff edges that over look the ocean. As for the druids.." he turned to look towards Fana once more, her intense gaze not having lessened any, and smiled at her warmly. "I'm afraid we dont have creatures like her. Vast seas of grass and a few swaps cover our lands. The forests in which the druids call home are very scarce, unfortunately."
The smile in which Elas gave Fana wasn't one that Ward would have expected from the Prince. Being that he sat at the end of the table he had the best vantage point to see Elas's expression. He almost had an endearing look as he gazed towards the wild woman at the table. It was something that should have been reserved for perhaps Amaryll yet Elas seemed much more entranced by Fana. "So how long are you in Talamuk?" Ward asked Elas.
The question seemed to snap the prince out of his gaze and he cleared his throat before answering. "A few days perhaps. Just enough to get to know Amaryll a little." He replied though his tone lacked enthusiasm. "Perhaps I'll get to know each of you during that time? I would also love to get to know the avatar of the Moon Goddess. Not often someone gets to meet a person of your origin."
Ward had walked into the room almost hating this prince and now he wasn't sure what to think of the man. He wasn't anything that Ward had expected and he found it hard to hold onto those feelings of resentment. "Yes, well, I'm an open book of sorts. Ask me anything and I'll give you the best answer that I can."

Amaryll tilted her head slightly as she listened to the prince speak. He kept his composure quite well. Far better than she’d expect in fact. With how the king was she’d expected Elas to push back, but he almost seemed to enjoy the conversation. Though she saw something peculiar then, his smile as he looked to Fana. The princess followed his gaze, though a smile remained on her lips her eyes almost gave away her confusion. The prince hadn’t quite looked at her in that way with such a charming smile. She glanced to Leila whom shot her back a look, it was as if they could speak to one another with just glances and slight gestures. The two then looked back to the prince. Finally Ward was the one to break the strange trance like gaze the prince had fallen into. Amaryll glanced to Ward a moment as he’d finished speaking and then she looked back to the prince. “A few days is plenty of time.” She spoke with a forced smile.
“Will she be going back to Newark with you?” Leila spoke up. Her eyes fixed on the prince. “If you decide she is….what you’re looking for?”
Elas looked to Leila and gave a warm smile though his eyes seemed to move back to the druid. “Of course she would.” His eyes then looked to the princess. “She would be my queen after all. I cannot rule Newark without a queen at my side.” He then looked to Leila. “Besides, that was part of the agreement that was written out and given to the king of Talamuk.”
Leila looked to the prince a moment before her eyes looked to Fana. “But what of the war?” She asked then before she looked back to the prince. “Amaryll has led many of the defenses. In fact I would be willing to say that without her we would have lost ground more quickly. She can heal our soldiers in the midst of war...without her then what shall we do?”
“She is but one person upon the battlefield.” A voice came from across the room. The king. He walked across the room to the table with the queen in tow upon his arm. “A war is not won by one soldier. It is won by the whole.” The king and queen stood behind Amaryll now whom had a look of embarrassment upon her face, her cheeks were burning hot. She knew this wouldn’t end well. “This luncheon was designed for Prince Elas to get to know my daughter.” The king’s eyes looked to the three and locked upon Fana, whom he seemed to not care for much after their last conversation.
“I invited them by approval of the prince. He wished to know my companions, father.” Amaryll spoke up though she didn’t look back to the king she stared straight ahead. Her fingertips were curled around the neck of a wine glass. She closed her eyes a long moment. “He is not from Talamuk. His customs are much different than our own and he approved of the idea.” She spoke to the dead silent room.
The king looked to the prince and gave a short not. “Very well.” He spoke with a stiff lip. “If that is how you wish it to be your highness. You are my guest, after all.” The king then looked to Leila with dagger like eyes for a long moment before his attention turned back to the prince. “I have arranged for you to be able to explore our capitol city this afternoon as you wish Prince Elas. This evening we will have a feast as well as dance to celebrate your arrival.” He looked to the back of his daughter then a moment. “If there is anything that I may do to make your stay more comfortable please do not hesitate to ask.” The king nodded to the prince before he turned and left the room.
Amaryll closed her eyes and drew in a breath before she let it out. A smile came back to her lips as if she’d hit the reset button. She looked to the prince almost curiously. “Would you want to be pulled away from the war of your country? In hopes that other soldiers may win it for you?” She asked then. “As much as I despise the war, my efforts within it are quite important to me. If we were to lose whilst I am in Newark...” She shook her head. “I’m not certain how I would feel exactly.” She glanced to Fana a second before she looked back to the prince.

Ward saw the King and Queen approaching before Amaryll did and had sat back in his chair with his fists sitting against his thighs. Did this man not know how to entertain himself? He had known control crazed parents before but this was on a whole new level. Fana had also seen the Monarchs arriving and had simply smiled at them in her same defiant way. Even if the King didn't like her he would have to tolerate her which gave her a bit of an advantage. Though the King knew how to make an already awkward situation even more tense than it already was.
Once he was gone though Ward frowned upon seeing the practiced smile quickly return to Amaryll's expression. She was good at being a politician that was for sure. Though the question that was posed to Elas was one Ward was interested to hear as well. Would the foreign prince be a little more sympathetic and reasonable than the King was, or not?
"I would not want to be pulled away. That much is true, but if my leaving guaranteed that my country would succeed in their victories then I would go regardless. I would not want to stay and hinder my troops simply because I wanted to be present for the battles. Though, that is to say, I understand your apprehension in the matter." Elas sighed and looked back to Ward, having sensed the distrust coming from the man. "What of you, Master Ward? What is your role in all this? You've still not said."
Ward really hated all these questions directed at him, even if he understood why they were being asked. He just wished he had some answers to give. "I'm afraid that my role had yet to fully reveal itself. I'm unsure exactly how the goddess wanted me to help. With the aid of the Druids and then Newark it appears that Talamuk will survive this conflict, and learn from the happenings." Ward couldn't hold Elas's gaze as he didn't have the conviction that he wished he did.
"Mm, yes the Goddess did always like to play her tricks or give cryptic answers. Though I am surprised she would keep up her games with her own avatar." Elas sighed, relenting the subject for now. "Well the King stated we can explore your beautiful home. If everyone is done eating perhaps we can take advantage of that opportunity." He pushed his plate back from his seat and finished off his wine.
"As eager as we are to get out of the palace and away from prying eyes and ears?" Fana asked Elas to which she only received a smirk from the Prince.
