Lyra stood suddenly as the man approached. She watched as everyone stepped back, all eyes on the dull body. She watched closely, and then she didn't expect the next part. Thanatos revealed himself - this was not in their discussed plan. Then he revived the man - this she didn't think could happen either... She gasped as the demon was destroyed. She stepped forward slightly, and then she paused. The wedding was to go on... She lifted her lute then and continued to play music. Until the two has wicked away down the pathway. She stepped forward then and looked to the glowing gold dagger. She lifted it and slipped it away, turning then as she watched the crowd of people make their way to the exit. Suddenly everyone froze in their place. Lyra turned about - looking around. Chronos? It was not. A man appeared before her. He wore a beautifully pressed suit. His hair was slick back, his chiseled jaw pointing right at her. He stepped forward then and slowly clapped. "I am impressed with you, Lyra" his thick voice spoke, a grin that could cut stone. "I was wondering how long it would take those idiots to catch on" he made his way to be closer. "But now I have won" he rubbed his hands together, as if dusting them off. "Our so glorious God has broken his own rules... bit by bit - I will unravel him until he collapses" "You think you're doing his work, maybe even stopping evil?" he chuckled then and leaned in closer. "Let me tell you something darlin'" he spoke softly, so close his breath fogged her face. "I'm not the evil one around these parts" he raised a hand then and cupped her cheek. He vanished right then - and time resumed. Lyra was a cold as ice, a statue standing the center of a large empty hall. All were gone. Lyra let out a deep breath... the man that was before her moments ago was the Devil Himself. She stepped forward then and rushed from the hall. Her steps lead her to the Castle, and into the hall. The place was full of chatter - she was late. "Are you okay Bard?" The Queen asked as she ushered over, pulling Lyra to the stage. "You look like you've seen a ghost" she spoke. "I-I'm okay" she muttered and then lifted her lute. She played music - all the night. Though something was missing. Her mind was numb, her heart felt weak. Her music was dull, though the notes sound and the chords rang, no one really noticed. When the night was over - Lyra grasped her lute and rushed out of the room. She made it to her room - and stepped to the balcony. In a flash of an instant - her beautiful white wings appear and she lept into the air. In a flash of light she was gone, amongst the heavens.
Lyra gripped her chest as she landed on a frosty white ground. She stood in her golden beautiful armor, her wings spread wide and open. Her flowing red hair tossed over her shoulder as she peered forward. It was an empty plain, though in the distance clouds float at head height. As she stepped forward - a building seem to appear out of the mist. It was a pale mansion, Thanatos's home. She was on purgatory, where he and Chronos lived, in between the realms.
As she moved forward - a horse stepped to her, after munching on dead grass. "Mortis" Lyra spoke softly and reached forward - the beautiful horse nuzzled his head into her hand. Moments later a man approached. At his home - he did not wear his cloak and uniform. He was a lanky geeky looking man, with frazzled and unkept hair.
"Lyra" he spoke as he approached. "You okay, what are you doing here?" he questioned. "Come" he waved her to his mansion.
Lyra followed him into the great doors, they were met by a butler. "Would you like me to put some tea on?" he questioned. Thanatos waved to him a yes and lead her to the plush white couches of the living room. He snapped his fingers and a delicate flame lit in the glorious fireplace, lined with bleached stone.
Lyra sat and cleared her throat. "Satan himself visited me" she spoke in a hushed voice. "It was no illusion, I felt the warmth of his hellacious body" she leaned back. As the tea came she accepted it. She told him of what he said to her, and the short moment that seem to scar her soul.
Thanatos cleared his voice. "In my uniform I have a unique ability. I can look directly into a man and command them. They listen every time, the Eyes of Death Commanding the soul.... When around Satan he has a similiar effect. One that can strike fear. All he does is enhance the worries and natural fears. I bet... you feel weak, useless. You ran here - just like he wanted..." Thanatos spoke calmly, he stood then and paced slightly. "Planting seedlings of lies, he is the father of lies, you know this..." he nodded. "The way you feel wont change, not for a little bit. You must focus on what makes you strong, and you need to focus on what makes you happy" he spoke softly.
"I ..." Lyra hung her head.
"You are close to the Princess, I can tell" Thanatos spoke. "There is no shame in it" he placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Come on, we shall take you to see the Green Mother - and then you must return..." He took a single sip of his tea and then lifted his hand. "Come on, Mortis shall take us" he lead her back outside to the mount, where he climbed on, and waited for her to get on behind him...

The night was full of laughter and joy. Such joy that Evelynne had never felt at the side of the demon. Leon let her mingle about in the crowd. The princess looked to Lyra several times, her ocean eyes filled with worry. She could tell something was a miss. Even the queen seemed to be keeping an eye on the bard. As the night came to a close the princess stood next to Leon upon the stage, they both spoke to the people thanking them for attending their wedding. A prayer was said by the bishop and then everyone was off. Evelynne stepped to Lyra’s side, a soft smile upon her lips. “Thank you, Lyra.” She spoke and searched her eyes. Then the queen called to her. Evelynne turned for a moment and then she smiled as she looked to Lyra again. “I...will catch up with you later?” She spoke as she was towed away by the prince.
Evelynne glanced over her shoulder to Lyra just as she slipped from the ballroom. She followed the queen to their royal meeting hall where they spoke of the day. They spoke of the future. Tomorrow would begin a new era in the kingdom. A ceremony would be held soon that would hand the kingdom over to the young prince and the princess. Evelynne held Leon’s hand as they made their way back to the royal chambers. She turned to him, her hands in his just as they were when she stood upon the alter. She smiled as she looked to him. “We’ve so much in our future.” She spoke and then kissed his cheek. “There is something I must do, I will be back.” She slipped her hands from his and left him standing in the room alone.
The princess made her way down the hallway to Lyra’s room. She gave a soft knock and proceeded forward. “Lyra, is everything...” She caught the glimpse of the wings just before Lyra disappeared. The princess rushed forward and gripped the railing. She looked around quickly, hoping to find Lyra in the sky. There was no trace of her. The princess stood, her hands still holding the railing, her eyes stared forward over the city. Perhaps that was Lyra’s goal. To save the kingdom. Now that she’d done so she would return to the heavens. She lowered her eyes slightly as she took in a breath. She’d left without saying any goodbyes…
“Evelynne?” Leon’s voice questioned softly. He looked about the room, he’d followed behind her. The prince could see the worry in the princess’ eyes before she’d left him. He drew in a breath as he came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her gently. He leaned his head upon her shoulder and drew in a breath. “Come on. Let’s get some rest.” He tugged at her slightly. His voice gentle. “We can look more into this tomorrow, hm?” He kissed her cheek before he led her back to their quarters.
**
The next day came swiftly. Evelynne and Leon were dressed in the colors of the kingdom. The royal blue with silver lining. They sat at the breakfast table, the princess looked to the stool that Lyra would sit upon. It was empty this morning. Her heart sank as she looked to the empty spot. Her brows drew together slightly. The queen looked to the princess and then looked to the empty chair. “The servants said that they haven’t seen Lyra this morning. Have you seen her Eve?” Liliana spoke as she looked to her daughter.
“No.” Evelynne responded. “She’s gone, mother.” She lifted her eyes, her lips pressed together slightly. “She left.”
The queen nodded, “Of course, well...” She paused a moment and then sipped her coffee. “A loss indeed. I wish the girl would have thought to say her goodbyes, we would have given her something to keep her around.” The queen glanced to the king and then back to the prince and princess. “She saved our kingdom, after all.” She smiled slightly. “I’m thankful that we at least were graced with her presence.” Liliana tried to put a positive spin on things. Though that didn’t seem to cheer the princess up in the least.
**
The ceremony was held. Leon and Evelynne became the King and Queen of Naidel. They took on efforts to cure the wounded. They organized better practices in the shipping of goods for trade. Trade was opened up with Voleg. Things were going rather well. It was nearly a month into their ruling. Evelynne had grown quite fond of Leon. He was nothing like the demon had been. He was rather thoughtful and kind.
It was upon the evening that would mark their one month that Evelynne sat within the music hall. Her fingers danced about the keys of her piano. The music that she played held so much of her soul. There was a sadness to it, as if she was telling a tragic love story, or the tale of something that was lost long ago. Her eyes closed as she played, her head bowed slightly. It was truly beautiful and elegant.
The doors pushed open and a servant rushed into the room. “My queen!” She cried. “My queen!” Tears rolled down her cheeks.
“Robin.” She turned quickly and stood. “What..is the matter?” She stood and stepped forward as the woman nearly fell into her. She steadied her. “What’s happened?”
“The sick. There...they...” She sniffled. “Something happened...my queen...someone did this...”
Evelynne drew her brows together and in merely seconds she rushed from the room. She ran down the hallways, her heels clicked loudly. She could hear screams in the distance. She rounded the corner, smoke was billowing out of the room that the sick were housed in. Suddenly something ran into her harshly. The queen was slammed to the wall, her wrists held tightly. Her eyes looked upon a man that had blood running from his mouth an splattered over his attire. He laughed manically. “Oh my queen how wonderful for you to join in on the fun.” He grinned his eyes turned into dark pits. Slowly his skin morphed to a red scaly color, black horns protruded from his head. His mouth was filled with sharp fang like teeth as he let out a growl. “I was hoping you would come.” He licked blood from his lips.
Evelynne screamed as she fought against him, though no matter how much she struggled she couldn’t seem to loosen his grip.
“I’m going to take every last soul within this kingdom.” He growled. “You though.” He grinned then. “The devil has something special planned for you.” He cackled. Evelynne’s eyes began to glow, ice ran up her arms, her breaths grew quick. “Yes, that’s it my queen.” He leaned closer. “Show me what you can do.”
There was a burst of power from her the beautiful ruby necklace around her neck glowed brightly as she slammed the demon back, ice formed over his body. She drew in quick breaths as she rushed toward the sound of the screams. “No...no no...” She ran into the room. Bodies were strewn about, mutilated. Flames engulfed other bodies. The princess ran forward, she raised her hands and a mist filled the room. This was something she’d never done, though with the rush of her adrenaline...she seemed to have a better grasp upon her magic in the moment.
“My...queen...” A nurse lay upon the ground, a rod shoved into her chest, blood pooled on the ground around her.
Evelynne rushed to the woman’s side and she knelt to pull her into her lap. “Shhh it’s alright. It’s going to be okay.” She looked to the thick piece of metal that protruded from the woman’s chest. “Just...breathe.” She bit her lip slightly. She remembered the words of the angel, start small and work your way up. Heal a plant. Progress to the flesh of an apple. In the past month since Lyra had been gone Evelynne hadn’t had much time for magic. She hadn’t made any time at all for practice. It was in that moment that the queen pulled the bar of metal from the woman’s chest. She then cupped her hand tightly over the wound. “Breathe.” She spoke as her eyes glowed. She drew upon her magic then. She willed the nurse’s grave wounds to heal. Her body began to tremble, blood began to trickle from her nose. It was too much too quick. But, the wound began to seal shut, the blood seemed to suck back into the woman’s body. After a few minutes the nurse sat up slowly, her hand to her chest as Evelynne trembled.
Clapping came from the edge of the room. “Bravo, my queen.” The demon stepped forward. “That was just what I wanted you to do.” He rushed forward with unspeakable speed and slammed Evelynne into the wall, his hand gripped around her throat tightly. “You have cheated death out of a soul.” He snickered. “You shouldn’t be able to perform such magic.” He hissed as he gripped more tightly. His claws dug into her neck causing blood to pool and trickle down over her skin.
“Eve!” Leon’s voice called from the edge of the room.
The demon growled lowly. “You’re not invited.” He snarled as he turned and rushed to Leon. The demon slammed against him sending him flying to crash into the wall. “Here lay the king.” His voice was harsh. “You should have kept the demon, Leon.” He snickered as he lifted him. “The demon would have kept your soul alive.” He hissed. “That’s okay, I’ve something even more fun.” He lifted a black blade from his hip. He pulled his arm back to stab into Leon then.
“No!” Evelynne rushed forward, her hands grasped upon the demon’s forearm, though the blade dug into Leon’s side ripping into his flesh. Leon screamed in agony as he fell to the ground from the demon’s grip.
The demon clicked his tongue as he looked to Evelynne. “Well well.” He tilted his head slightly before he backhanded her. “I wasn’t done with you.” He snickered.
Evelynne stumbled back from the harsh blow. Ice formed on her arms as she drew upon her magic, though she was weak. She took a staggering step back as the demon stepped forward. “Get out!” She ordered as she slammed her hands against his chest.
The demon merely snickered as he stood and took the beating, it didn’t seem to cause him any sort of upset. “Humans.” He smirked. “You’re nothing more than that.” He gripped the ruby necklace and his skin began to singe. He snarled then as he ripped it from her neck, his blade thrust into her side. “I’ll claim your soul.” He whispered into her ear. “Soon enough.” Suddenly he vanished in a black smoke.
Evelynne gripped her side as blood leaked from her body. She fell to her knees as she took in shaken breaths. “Eve.” Leon choked out, blood leaked from his mouth.
Evelynne crawled to him and collapsed onto his chest. “Leon...” She spoke, her voice filled with pain. Her hand pressed against his wound. Her breaths trembled as she called upon her magic.
“Eve...don’t...” Leon tried to fight against it but he was too weak. Evelynne’s eyes fluttered as her magic coursed through her body. The room cooled as his wound healed. As the wound mended together her body grew limp. Leon scooped her into his arms. “Help!” He cried as tears ran down his cheeks. The nurse that the queen saved ran forward and the two lifted her onto a table to get a better look at the wound.
“She’s not breathing...” The nurse spoke, her voice shook.
**
Evelynne stood within a white frosty plain. She looked down to the dress that was upon her body, it was a gorgeous ballgown, she could feel the weight of her crown upon her head. It was as if she was dressed for a grande ball. She closed her eyes, her head was a jumble. She couldn’t remember anything. As she opened her eyes again she looked down to her blood covered hands. Her heart began to race as she let out a cry. She stumbled back. Her dress had changed to the gown that she wore within the music hall, a simple blue dress. It was covered in blood. The blood of Leon and the nurse….her own blood. She let out a scream as she stared to the blood on her hands once again. She couldn’t remember.
She blinked and the beautiful ballgown was back. The blood was gone. “Wh...what’s happening?” She muttered, tears streamed down her cheeks as she lifted her eyes to look to the frosty blank plains. “Wh...where am I…?” She choked out through a sob.

Lyra climbed atop the steed and they burst into the sky with speed. Spreading from Mortis was beautiful pale wings that guide them forward. They shot through the skies at warp speed, until they came upon a giant tree floating atop a huge mass of earth. Thanatos landed and helped Lyra off. Before her wings were wide, but now they were hidden. She slipped from the steed and Mortis a good pat.
"You will go alone, I'll wait here" he nodded and stepped away, following Mortis to a patch of lively grass. Lyra turned her gaze away from Thanatos and then before. She stepped into the thick of trees. Through the peaks of canopy she could see the giant tree that clutched the earth. She pushed past several oaks before coming to a small opening. Thick grass covered the land, flowers and ferns peaking about. As she stepped forward - critters ran from her, grass hoppers, frogs, a rabbit off to the side.
As she came to the huge tree - there was an opening in it. Emerging from it came a woman. Gaia. Without her foggy cover she appeared a woman in her mid thirties. Broad hips and shoulders, a little bit of weight - that of child birth, no doubt. Though she was shapely, she was still beautiful - a gentle round face with a small nose. "Come" Gaia waved her hand over, letting her into the tree.
Lyra approached and slipped inside, the wooden round door closing behind them. She stepped into a woody home, round as the hallowed tree naturally would be. A low couch that sat before a bookshelf, it had all the necessities, but nothing like the Death Mansion. She stepped over and sat down with Gaia.
"Tell me what you saw" The woman spoke, her voice as gentle as the hummingbirds that plucked at her hair. Lyra spoke of Satan, her experience, and how she still felt his chill upon her. Gaia shifted. "I cannot imagine the feeling, Gods are immune to each other's influential spells. Unfortunately, you are not a God..." she smirked then. "That just means you don't have to play by the books of the Gods" she nodded. "You're in his gaze though, foiled his plans. No doubt he will be pissed..." she shifted slightly.
"I want you to take several more with you. I know him well... he's going to push now, for God to bend his knee. No doubt that your Queen will be in severe trouble..." Gaia spoke softly. "Don't blame yourself, his plans made it so" she shifted forward and lifted two hands. She brought them to Lyra's head and she hovered a moment. "He has filled you with doubt..." she whispered. "And even hate..." she shook her head and then she leaned down and kissed her forehead. "I'll hold that for you dear" she whispered and then stepped back.
Lyra's head lulled backwards, that pressure and darkness that lingered over her seem to lift away. Her eyes opened and she peered to The Mother... "Thank you..." she muttered and stood.
"Go back with Thanatos and take a squadron of Angels back... You must protect Evelynne, I think she is the key to things" she helped Lyra up. "I've been working with Fate as to why Satan has taken interest in her, I am still figuring it out..."
"She can heal - bring those on the cusp of life, back" Lyra spoke. "I don't know how she could do such a thing, I thought only you could..."
Gaia then smiled and nodded her head. "I was..." she whispered. "This... is a good sign" she spoke softly.
"Why?"
"Only Mother Earth can Heal..." Gaia spoke and then vanished into a green smog.
Lyra's brows pulled together and she turned around. Before she knew it she was back at the mansion. 10 Angels stood in formation, they were battle Angels. 5 stood in front with sword and shield, 5 stood in the back with either staff or bow.
"This will be yours to command. You are getting a promotion" Thanatos spoke, now his hood was on. He appeared as his boney self, with his large Scythe in hand. "To a Commander" he spoke and raised his hand. Suddenly Lyra's armor changed slightly, her shoulder pieces grew a little bigger - with neck guards on the sides. The golden trim turned black on her armor, the plate switched from silver to white. She could feel her power swelling within her. Lyra summoned her blade - it appeared in her hand, glowing brightly. Though as she willed it - it turned into a pike, and then suddenly into a bow... It morphed into whatever she needed, a new found ability. The sword disappeared and then she nodded.
"You will all be of the Magi Tower..." Lyra spoke, in an instant - a wave of memories hit her, and everyone else. Of their time together, how they all knew each other. Though, as everyone experienced their memories in a flash - Lyra felt something. The air changed, a kind of aura filled them. Worry grazed her, what was approaching them?
Lyra turned and her hues stared to the Princess... no, the Queen - Eve, who stood in the far distance. She couldn't see her features - but she could feel her presence. She knew the way Eve felt, the way she even smelled, and the energy that she emit. She could feel Eve trembling, and her power quaking. Lyra's wings shot from her back in a magical burst, a explosion of holy magic emit from the motion. She lifted into the air with ease and shot forward like a hawk, landing with a burst of power before Eve.
Lyra's wings spread outward - and her gloved hands reached for Eve. Two hands fell upon her shoulders, her red hair fluttering forward, revealing her gentle sunkissed face. "What - are you doing here?" Lyra questioned softly, her voice was a chord of pleasant music.
As she touched Eve - she could see everything then. The attack - the demon. Eve's expression dropped "How - How long have I been gone? It's been... a few hours" she muttered to herself and then she turned to the crowd of Angels. "Get down there now - he is sending more" she cried out. The 10 angels suddenly lifted into the air and burst downward, in the distance they appeared like streaking stars, flaming towards the earth that Spun below.
"Eve" she whispered. "Lets go" she spoke and then clutched her arms around the woman. She turned her gaze to Thanatos - who nodded to her, his pale skull peering to her. Lyra's wings opened wide and they lifted into the air, then they shot downwards, phasing through the thin layer that they stood on. Her wings circled around them both, folding in tightly as they shot downward with amazing speed. They traveled faster and faster until white fire formed around their figure, though protected by an oval like barrier. Then there was a burst - they appeared suddenly on the safe Ground of the Earth.
Lyra's wings faded, she had landed on her Balcony, where she had left. She turned then as she saw - hundreds of Demons rushed forward. The 10 Angels now appeared as humans. 5 Wore a white set of armor, the other 5 wore either mage robes or leathers of an archer. Their attacks were laced with magic - one swing of a sword took 5 demons out. A barrage of arrows firing down... Lyra grit her teeth and she pulled her lute. The lute was different now, the entirety of it was white, instead of a oak brown. The golden trim and designs still were etched in the ebony lute.
She struck a chord, it was loud, but the singing of angels came from the heavens, the sound of a thousand person choir. The most heavenly chord rippled about - from her came a burst of yellow magic, the same that laced her weapon, and the spears of the Angels. It burst forward and in an instant - every lesser demon burst into ashes. Remaining were only the few commanders, which the 10 person squad quickly honed in on, demolishing them swiftly.
Though despite the battle of glorious power - nearly half the city was aflame. People were slaughter left a right, riddling the streets with their now dead bodies. Many escaped to the Church, which the demons could not touch. Others hid in their homes - they began to emerge as the sounds of death and war had settled. One of the Angels lifted his hand - a magic spell cast - and it began to rain heavily... Over the span of a few minutes the roofs snuffed of their flame, the streets were washed of the blood... It rained heavily for several minutes, before it finally calmed to a sprinkle. Though no rain hit Lyra or Eve, they were protected by a kind of magic umbrella above them - summoned by Lyra.
"Take me to him, where is Leon?" Lyra whispered, clutching onto the hand of Eve.

Evelynne shuddered as she looked to her hands again. Once again blood covered her hands and arms. She let out a cry and just as she did a wave of wind pushed against her. She lifted her eyes, the blood gone once again. “Lyra…?” She cried. “Lyra...I...don’t...know I...” She lifted her hands which were perfectly clean like the ballroom gown that she wore. As Lyra’s hands touched her shoulders she shut her eyes tightly, the scene flashed before her own eyes. Her dress changed back once again, her body covered in blood. She let out a pain filled wail as she gripped onto Lyra. “I couldn’t...stop him...” She breathed, her voice shook. “I tried...I...” She watched as Lyra commanded the 10 angel squad. As Lyra wrapped her arms around her she clutched onto the angel. A sob came over her lips as she pressed her face against the cool metal of Lyra’s armor.
The flight down to earth was incredible. Like nothing she’d ever felt. Though all the while she kept her face pressed into Lyra’s neck, tears streamed down her cheeks. She knew the only way she could have gotten there...she was dead. But Death had allowed Lyra to bring her back to earth. As they landed her body took on a wispy glow. She clutched onto the balcony and let out a cry as she saw her city in shambles. The flames. The demons. It was truly a nightmare. A war that her kingdom should never be faced with…
Evelynne shuddered with sobs as she watched the angels defend her city against the demons. She gazed up as the rain began to fall, not a drop fell upon them. When Lyra spoke to her she looked to her hand and then to Lyra. “Leon...” She breathed. “He must be in the infirmary.” She tugged against Lyra and pulled her down the halls. Evelynne rushed more quickly the closer they got, she felt a tug at her chest. She grit her teeth as she reached forward for a door, her hand pressed through it, dissipating like smoke and then forming again. “Lyra?” She quaked. Though as she turned to look to the angel the tug against her chest became stronger. She reached toward Lyra just as her body turned into a white glowing smoke. She was tugged through the door and into the room which caused the door to swing open, as if it was pushed by wind.
Leon sobbed into the chest of the queen, his hands clutched hers. His own covered in blood. Her blood. He had held the wound for the nurse as she tried to revive Evelynne. “Please...Eve….” He choked.
The nurse was washing her hands in a basin of water. She lifted her eyes and her brows raised slightly. “Lyra...” She breathed, tears streamed down her cheeks. “W-won’t you play a song….our king...would greatly appreciate it...” She dried her hands with a towel as she looked to Leon with sad eyes.
Leon lifted his eyes to look to Lyra as he sniffled. “She...saved my life. I would take her place in an instant….she didn’t deserve this...” He whimpered before he lay his head back against her chest once again as the room fell into silence.
Evelynne drew in a breath then, her fingertips curled around Leon’s and her eyes opened to reveal the beautiful blue glow of her magic. “Leon...” She breathed. “I’m...okay...” She choked out. “I’m...okay...” She repeated as she slowly sat up.
“Eve...” He looked to her with wide eyes. “How...did...” He pulled her into a tight embrace before his hands clutched her shoulders and he looked her over quickly as if looking for any injuries that were left unseen. A happy sob came over his lips as he pulled her into another embrace and he kissed her cheek. “Thank the gods.” He breathed.
Evelynne pulled back from him a soft smile upon her lips. She searched his eyes a moment before she turned her eyes to Lyra. “Our city is saved because of you...you’ve returned at the best possible time to save us from those demons.” She stepped to Lyra, “The Tower of Magi truly is an incredible force. Thank you Lyra.” She then glanced to Leon before she looked to her bloodied dress. “Lyra would you...come with me?” She grasped Lyra’s hand and pulled her from the room. She was quiet as she walked down the hallway, her breath trembled. She felt strange. She led Lyra into the baths where she reached behind her back and loosened her corset before she stepped behind a panel. She tossed the dress over the top of it and the sound of water splashing about as she cleaned herself with a towel and a basin of water. She soon stepped out, her hair in a messy bun, a robe wrapped and tied around her body. She bit her lip slightly. “Lyra...how did this happen? What does this mean?” She questioned her voice quaked. “I...” She remembered the white frosty plains. The hooded figure of Death. “I was dead...wasn’t I?” She lowered her eyes. “And you...you were gone a month...without...you didn’t say anything.” Tears rolled over her cheeks. “You left...and...you...” She turned her eyes away as she sucked in a breath. “Lyra...I...” She stopped speaking then and shook her head.

Lyra followed Eve closely as they rushed through the castle. She stumbled back as a wave of power rushed past her, as it appeared the Eve's soul was ushered back to her body. She wondered in that moment why Eve's soul had found her. She had heard of it before - two souls linked so closely, that the only couldn't go alone. The two were connected so deeply that they called to each other. It was different than a soul mate, persay. Lyra stepped into the room - her eyes glancing about, studying it.
The real King rest over his wife, sobbing to his misery. She felt a wave of guilt wash over her, or maybe it was something else. Though before she could lift her lute - Eve had come to once more. The nurse rushed over and tended to her, taking her vitals. "She is as well as can be" the nurse spoke, astounded... Lyra bowed her head before the two, and then slipped away as Eve had asked of her.
Lyra was silent as Eve undressed. She turned and glanced around - the place was silent... Though something was different. Eve wasn't the innocent Princess any more, she was the Queen. She held it in her voice... Lyra gazed over as Eve stepped out and approached her. "You were dead..." Lyra whispered, nodding slightly. She lowered her gaze as Eve mentioned that she left. "I'm sorry Eve" she whispered softly and then sighed softly. "That night of your wedding... I arrived late to the dance... I was approached by Satan himself, he..." she shook her head. "He has his ways to filling one with immense fear. I left to go home, to get some help - to tell the others what had happened. I did not realize time on Earth would pass by so quickly. To me... I was up there for a few hours, to you it was...longer than that" she stepped forward then and placed her hands on Eve's shoulders. "I didn't mean to do that... and I wont do it again, not without telling you at least..." she whispered as she hugged the Queen.
Lyra pressed her cheek into the woman's hair, taking in a long drawn breath. She stepped back and then smiled weakly. "Your soul called so longingly for mine - that you pushed beyond the realms and placed yourself before me... It is a feat in truth, I am flattered" she smirked and then brushed a tear off of Eve's cheek.
"Everything that has happened - is in spite of us foiling him... He waited for me to run home, his tactic to scare me worked perfectly..." she shook his head. "The only thing that saved your Kingdom was - your untimely suedo death, and your longing..." she chuckled and then placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.
"Mother Earth has guided me, I brought the others here to aid you. This war that is happening... He isn't going to play nice..." she paused. "You used a lot of power today, I can sense it" she spoke softly and then stepped back. "I can't say I know what he will do next. Usually it is opposite of what we expect. I would expect another wave of demons, but that is unlikely. I bet he would let you rebuild, and quake in his fear, before launching another attack. Or perhaps even something worse, I can't say..." she shook her head.
"Come on, your dearest King awaits you. Your Kingdom must rebuild..." she lead her to a wooden closet, she opened it to find several dresses prepped. She pulled one down, a beautiful white dress with golden stitching. "This will do" she waved to Eve to undress, Lyra would help tie the corset and fix her hair up. "No doubt the people await you" she nodded. "I'll be here this time"

Evelynne watched Lyra as she spoke, she could see the guilt in her eyes. She lowered her gaze slightly, perhaps she shouldn’t have been attacking Lyra in such a way? She knew better than to do such a thing. “Satan?” She questioned softly, her brows tucked together with worry. She drew in a breath when Lyra mentioned that time had only been a few hours for her. “It was a month...here...” She muttered, though she seemed to be thinking. When Lyra hugged her Evelynne returned the embrace, she drew in a breath that shook slightly. It was warm, comforting. She didn’t want it to end. She pressed her head against Lyra’s as she let out a breath. “I understand, Lyra.” She spoke her voice calm. “You didn’t mean to leave like that.”
Then when Lyra spoke of her soul. Her brows pulled together slightly. She gazed into Lyra’s eyes and gave a soft smile when she spoke she was flattered. “If I could tell you how I managed to do such a thing, I would.” She brushed a few tears from her own cheeks, drying her eyes the best she could. She then shifted her weight as the angel spoke of the devil himself. “He hoped you would run home...” She nodded. She then shook her head. “The demon that attacked here, he spoke of Satan...he said that he has great plans for me...” She bit her lip slightly, a bout of worry coming over her. “Why would he say that?” She then gave a nod as Lyra spoke of Mother Earth and of the magic she’d used.
“You should have seen it Lyra. I brought back the nurse...she was nearly dead...and then the demon attacked and the damaged that he inflicted on Leon...I healed him...but it was so much...the next thing I knew I was standing in that cold place without the slightest clue as to what happened to me.”
She stepped forward and gave a nod to Lyra, “Well, in any case...I won’t allow him to destroy Naidel. Not without putting up a fight.” She grasped the dress and stepped into it. She turned and held her hair out of the way for Lyra to lace up the corset. She took in a breath, a soft smile upon her lips. “I...missed you Lyra.” She spoke after a long moment of silence. “There wasn’t a day that I didn’t wonder.” She turned and gazed into Lyra’s eyes a long moment. “I wondered what happened to you...why you’d left...if you were alright...” She shook her head. “Silly...” She gave a weak smile. “For a queen to worry about a bard so much. Many of the other nobles would think I am mad for feeling such a way.” She looked up to Lyra once again. “Perhaps there is something about you, Lyra. Beyond being an angel. There is much more to you.” She spoke and then turned.
She was quiet as her heels clicked down the hallways. It was silent. Which wasn’t normal for the castle. She could still smell the scent of burnt flesh within the halls. The images of the infirmary flashed through her vision and she winced slightly to the thought of it. She rounded the corner to find Leon walked their direction. “My love.” He spoke as he took her hands. “Our city was attacked...many have died.”
Evelynne leaned forward and kissed his cheek. “I know.” She took his hand and led him forward. “We will make it through this, Leon.” She towed him along.
“Evelynne!” Liliana came rushing down the hallway. Her arms wrapped around her daughter and she kissed her cheek. “Thank the gods you’re unharmed.” Her eyes then fell upon Lyra. “Did you bring the mages, Lyra? Is that where you disappeared to?” She questioned, her expression curious.
The queen turned and nodded to Lyra, “She did. She brought those mages all the way from the tower of Magi.” She spoke, “Come, we must press on.” She gripped Leon’s hand once again and walked forward. They rounded to the front of the castle and into the front courtyard where the survivors had gathered. Evelynne gazed over them, many were injured. Her expression was hard to read as she took in the sight. Though finally after a few long moments she held up her hand. “People of Naidel.” She spoke as she walked down the stairs, Leon in tow. “This is a devilish and vicious attack on our city.” She gazed around to the people, children cried, adults sobbed from pain and the loss of their loved ones.
“Magic caused this!” Someone yelled, their voice full of anger.
Evelynne stopped in her tracks. Her eyes moved to the man that yelled out, his eyes were trained on her. “Quite the contrary, sir.” She spoke as she walked up to him. “Magic. More importantly, the skilled mages from the Tower of Magi have saved our souls this evening.” She looked up to him, Leon stood behind her, she’d released his hand. Her voice was noble. Her presence caught the attention of even the most distraught child within the crowd. “If the mages hadn’t come, and they had not used their magic, certainly we would all be dead.” She stared into his eyes as he looked down upon her. “Now. Dark magic.” She turned and looked to those around. “That on the other hand is the work of Satan himself. It allows him to corrupt you.”
“All magic belongs to the devil.” The man spoke up again.
Evelynne stopped, her expression flattened. She turned then. “Is it now?” She asked as she looked to him. She could feel a darkness about this man.
“Yes, all magic is from the devil himself.”
Leon stepped forward then, his brows pulled together. “That is quite enough. You will stand down and listen to the queen. Do not speak to her as if she is a commoner such as yourself.” He waved his hand before the man.
The man smirked as he looked to the queen. “As you wish. Your majesty.” He had a wicked gaze about him which caused a chill to run down the queen’s spine.
Evelynne shook her head slightly as she turned her attention back to the crowd. “We will rebuild. This is not going to break Naidel. We are strong. We will figure out why this attack was launched and we will come back 100x stronger.” The crowd cheered for their queen. She stepped forward to a young child that sobbed as he rocked back and forth. She knelt down and wiped a tear away from his cheek. “There, there.” She spoke and gave a gentle smile. “We will survive this. Where is your mother?” She asked softly.
The child sniffled as he looked up to his queen. He couldn’t have been more than 4 years old. “My...mommy...” He whimpered. He reached up and grasped Evelynne’s hand. “She...she won’t get up.” He cried as he pulled on her hand, pulling her toward the city.
“Show me.” Evelynne spoke to the surprise of those around her. She led her city with love. She treated her people like equals. Since she had taken over with Leon so many things had changed. She’d fixed the orphanage. She’d repaired the old folks home. The streets were cleaned up more than when her parents were king and queen. Evelynne wouldn’t stop until things were set right. She glanced over her shoulder as Leon continued to speak to the crowd. He laid out a plan to protect the city. More knights. They would erect walls around the city to protect it. The buildings would be built in stone so that they were more fire proof. The crowd listened to their king and cheered to his comments as the queen was pulled away by the young boy.
The boy looked back to Evelynne as he sniffled. He pulled her along into a back alleyway where he stopped over a body, blood pooled beneath it. Though, as Evelynne looked closely she could see a shaken rise and fall of the chest. She knelt down. “It’s okay.” She spoke as she cupped the cheek of the woman, her skin was pale, her lips blue. She only had minutes left before she would be gone from the world. Evelynne gazed up then in the shadows she could see something. A figure. It stepped forward, it was a reaper. Not death. No, this soul was destined to go to heaven or hell. Evelynne’s eyes began to glow as she focused her magic into the woman. The dark figure growled lowly and screeched before it disappeared into the shadows once again. Evelynne took in a shaken breath as she brushed the woman’s hair from her eyes. “Come here.” She spoke to the young boy. “Look.” She spoke with a soft smile as the woman’s eyes began to flutter. “There you are.” She pat his back. She shakily stood and brushed a bit of blood from her nose.
Evelynne shuddered as her eyes looked to Lyra. She then looked back toward the castle as she heard a cheer from the people. “He’s much better than the demon, Lyra.” She smiled as she stepped forward a bit shakily. “completely different.” She let out a soft laugh. She walked toward the castle then and staggered, she caught herself and let out a breath. “Perhaps...it is as you said...too much at once...isn’t good...huh?” She gazed to Lyra with a smile upon her lips. “I couldn’t let that boy grow up alone in this world...not when I could do something about it.” She whispered softly. She took in a deep breath and placed her hand upon the wall of a building. “I think...that’s enough for one day...” She muttered.
“Eve.” Leon came from the castle walls. He wrapped his arms around her and scooped her up. He glance to Lyra. “Thank you for keeping her safe.” He gave a gentle smile. “You seem to be rather good at that.” He looked back to the gates of the castle. “Come on, we shall speak over tea.” He walked inside with Evelynne in his arms, she curled and lay her head against him with her eyes closed. Leon gently set her down within a chair of the study before he turned and gazed to Lyra. “Tell me...what happened out there? How did you know our city was going to be attacked tonight? If you hadn’t returned with those men...” He sighed and shook his head before he gazed to Evelynne whom gave a soft smile. “Let me go get the tea.” He spoke then stepped from the room.
“I wish I could tell him you’re an angel.” Evelynne spoke with a smile. “He might understand you more...” She closed her eyes as she relaxed into the chair. “How long do you think we have before Satan comes back? Why does he have such an interest in me?” She questioned as she gazed to the angel once again.

Lyra stood off to the side, next to one of the royal guards. Her eyes glanced to the one that spoke up in defiance. She could feel her power swelling her, this new found energy that was gifted to her. Her hues looked to the man and she could see - a red aura emitting from his body. She could see through the facade - horns like shadows over his head. A Lesser demon... they were like roaches littered about, influence humans to do evil. She glanced to one of her mages, who had lined the area, standing at attention. One of them turned their gaze and nodded, as if knowing exactly what she wanted. Later in the night they would hunt down that demon and kill him. Lyra looked forward then and remained quiet...
Lyra watched some of the people following behind the Queen, she lingered behind and watched as the Queen expressed her power. Exactly what she needed to do - proving that magic was okay. "Bard" One of the women spoke, approaching her. "You are from the tower, no? What does she mean about dark magic?" she questioned.
Lyra's expression shifted to a gentle gaze, when before she was concentrated, thinking. She smiled and bowed her head gently. "The world is one balancing act. There is good magic, and bad magic. Bad magic actually taints the soul - when you die, you're more destined to hell the more you use it. This is a truth." she nodded. "But most of all, magic is magic, no matter the case. The real threat is the person who is using it, much like a sword - no? In the hands of a great person a sword can Make a hero, or a villain." she nodded.
"How - how do we stop the bad magic?" The woman spoke, a bit of fear in her eyes.
"The same way you stop a bad man..." Lyra spoke softly, Many people had stopped and looked to her. "It won't be hard to find them, magic is tempting, those who seek to use it for ill will show themselves easily, no doubt. Those people - still bleed like us." she looked out to the crowd that crowded her now.
"What if they're too powerful? We don't have magic!" another cried out.
"Naturally in War - if you have a weakness, then you seek the aid of Kingdoms, of people - who have that power. You fight a war of sword and shields, with sword and shields. If there is a war of magic, then naturally... you must seek the aid of magic. The Tower has provided that. I am here with 10 of the strongest mages, dedicated to your safety. If we needed more... this would be a simple task" she bowed her head. "Do not fret, your Queen has her grips on this. The attack today was a misfortunate disaster, and we will say many prayers for the lost.... I follow our Queen, who lead us to victory, furthermore" she bowed her head. The crowd cheered, having just watched the Queen heal the woman. "We are in good hands" Lyra finally spoke, before ushering away with the King and Queen.
Lyra smiled as Eve spoke of the Prince, how he was better than the demon. "I am glad..." she grasped the Queen's hand briefly. "See, you got your dream" she winked and followed her. Soon the King approached and grasped his wife, hugging her tightly. Lyra bowed her head before him and followed.
"You know, Sir King" she spoke, feeling free in the moment. "Most great bards come from a long story of wars and fighting - this is where we get our stories, as we are so great at telling. In truth, it's just a retirement plan for the tired veterans" she grinned and nodded. "The Queen and I... we became close when you were, uhm.. Right, we are friends. Royal and not Royal, because at the end of the day - the crown comes off, and we breath the same muggy air. And everyone needs a good friend... hm?" she smiled then and sat down on the couch in the study.
"I should explain myself... where I went, and why..." she spoke clearly. "No doubt what you saw today was the act of Demons. The releasing of magic opened a tear into the other realms, and Demons have emerged to do the evil king's bidding. Corrupting souls and sending them downward is their ultimate goal, to bolster his militia. I think, without magic the goal was still the same, but not it is just easier to do." she raised a hand. "When you were freed from of your soul, thank the gods, I was visited by the Evil King himself. It was a terrifying moment. This is why I was late to the after party. I was shook - but I knew his appearance was nothing to joke about. I went back to the Tower with speed. However, the trip saw some bumps, and it took longer than I expected. I had gathered those mages to return. The fact you were being attacked was terrifying coincidence, I wish I knew how to predict these things, but there I am at a loss, despite my abilities" she sighed deeply.
"Tea would be great though" she spoke and turned to the Queen, who smiled to her. "Of course, do you know how hard it was to hide it from you?" she chuckled and then grew quiet for a second. "When I was up in the skies, I visited Mother Earth herself, she cured of me of the darkness... and I learned something interesting. Gaia was very sly in the way she said it but..." she sat upwards. "You can heal people, bring them from near death to alive once more... this is a feat that doesn't belongs to mortals... no.." she shook her head. "Every one of the Gods eventually retires, another to replace them. Each - have their own way of doing so... I think.." she glanced up as the King entered, with a tray in hand.
"Thank you, I've got it" she took the tray then. The King did not argue. She dropped the tea leaves in the pot and let it simmer for a moment, before pouring them a cup each. "You two have really turned the place around, hm?" she smiled and sat down with her mug in hand. "Just a month and the whole Kingdom has a brand new attitude. I'm very impressed... It was a hard guess, what you were truly like, my King" she spoke and then took a sip. "But I am sure, you don't want to hear about my idle small talk" she smirked and leaned back slightly. "The people will be distraught, many feel helpless. Magic is a terrifying thing to them, especially because they do not have it. Anyone can wield a blade..." she nodded. "The Tower wants to open a School of Magic in each city... Teach the people... this is the only way to have them accept it." she waited their response. "I have brought 10 mages with me, who will begin the school. More would come, should you accept... it would bring scholars in, more trade...I think it would only bolster the Kingdom"

Evelynne watched Lyra as she spoke to Leon, a soft smile about her lips. She had grown quite fond of Lyra from their nights together in the music hall. She asked the questions that no one really seemed to care to ask. Evelynne liked that about her, it was a freeing experience. Lyra didn’t treat her like all the other servants of the castle. Lyra treated her much like her previous handmaiden...the one that died from the illness. Evelynne was quiet as she listened to the conversation between the two, her eyes fluttered slightly. In all honesty her body was exhausted. She felt it was a great deal of energy to even keep her eyes open at this point. She’d saved the lives of three...three lives that would have surly been lost. She watched as Leon gave glances of worry to her until he ushered himself out to fetch the tea.
“You never really were great at hiding it from me.” Evelynne spoke, “I saw the aura of your wings...perhaps it is my magic.” She gave a soft smile, her voice was tired. She watched Lyra with curious eyes as she spoke of Mother Earth, her brows tucked together slightly. “The gods...are also real...” She spoke her voice merely a whisper. Then as Lyra went on to speak of Gaia and her power to heal...she spoke the same thing that the demon spoke. Evelynne should not possess the power to heal...not in the way that she can. As Leon entered the room Evelynne frowned slightly, she wanted to hear more. She wanted to ask questions. Questions that were burning on the tip of her tongue, but she couldn’t speak of angels and gods with the king around.
Leon smiled to the comments that Lyra made. “We’ve certainly tried very hard to improve upon the things that our people have felt to be troubling.” He sipped from his tea and drew his brows together as Lyra went on to speak about magic, about the mages that she’d brought with her from the tower. He drew in a breath and looked to his wife, his hand squeezed hers. “What do you think my love?” He asked.
“Leon. I believe that the only way to get ahead of this is for our people to be knowledgable. For us to be the leaders in the world. The first city to have a school of magic.” She sipped from her own tea.
Leon glanced to her with a soft smile upon his lips. “Then it shall be so.” He looked back to Lyra. “We will give you anything that you need Lyra. You shall be appointed from Bard to the head master of the school. I trust your judgement. Of course you can keep your room here in the castle if you’d like. We will bring those from around the kingdom to learn from your mages. I’m certain that other kingdoms will request to learn from you as well.” His voice was very noble, he sounded much like a king should. He lifted his glass to his lips again and he looked to the queen. “Anything else you’d like to discuss Eve?”
Evelynne thought for a moment, of course there was more. Though everything she wanted to discuss she couldn’t speak of in front of him. She sipped from her tea as she gazed to Lyra. “The magic that I have learned was in secret with Lyra.” She spoke as she turned her gaze to Leon. “I felt I should tell you that.” She looked back to Lyra with a soft smile about her lips. “She taught me how to harness the magic and how to direct it to do as I wish. Though she had not yet released me to perform such a strength of magic as I have performed this evening. But...if it were not for her training I may not have been able to do such a thing.”
Leon smiled he gave a gentle squeeze to her leg before he stood. “I’m certain there is much more to discuss, but I would like to take my wife to bed, Lyra.” He finished his cup of tea. “Tomorrow is a new day, please be at breakfast with us in the morning. You shall bring your mages as well. You will not play music at breakfast.” He searched her eyes. “Your mages may find their place in the barracks of the castle for the evening if they please. We will house them accordingly until the school is complete and they have their own living quarters upon the campus.” He glanced to Evelynne and nodded. “Ready?” He asked her.
Evelynne shook her head. “There are a few things that I wish to discuss before bed with Lyra.” She searched his eyes. “It won’t take long.”
Leon took in a breath and he gave a slight nod. “Of course.” He glanced to Lyra then. “When you are finished with her just...send for me, I’ll be in our room.” He leaned down and kissed Evelynne then his hand cupped her cheek. “Don’t stay up long dear. You look exhausted...” He gave a weak smile.
Evelynne returned his smile, she reached up and brushed her thumb along his jaw. “I won’t. I promise. It’s just girl talk, darling.” She kissed his cheek. “I’ll be to bed shortly.” She spoke before she watched him straighten and step from the room. The queen then looked to Lyra. She studied her a moment, as if thinking of the proper words to use. Though, she couldn’t think of a way to phrase it. “Are you...were you saying before that I am to become...” She drew her brows together. It didn’t even sound right coming from her lips. “Lyra, I’m not understanding...this...” She shook her head slightly. “What did Gaia say to you? I...” She glanced to the door. “I can’t become a...god...I...” She bit her lip slightly. “Lyra I have a kingdom to run, there are people that rely upon me...Leon needs me at his side.” She sighed slightly, a bit of worry in her voice. “How does this work? I didn’t ask to have this power...” She muttered the last bit. But perhaps she had asked for it. She’d prayed for the ability to heal the sick for nearly a year now. Since the sickness came to light she’d made the prayer to learn a magic to heal the sickness. “I can’t abandon my people...” She whispered.

Lyra watched as the King left the room, their gentle gazes and touch. She could tell the man truly cared for her, and this in itself warmed her heart. It was difficult to watch her initially struggle with the demon, it was relieving to see her dear friend in good hands. Though as her thoughts began to fade – the Queen asked the inevitable question. Lyra’s lips pressed together as she thought of the best way to say it.
Though before she could there was a lingering green fog. Emerging from this fog came a woman. She stepped forward, out of the haze, and into the flickering candlelight. Her long brown hair had vines and flowers intertwined in the wavy locks, her gentle hues looked to the two. The woman, shaped like a hearty mother, sat on the couch across from them and crossed her legs. Her flawless skin poked through her green dress, which had a long slit up the side. She leaned forward and reached for Lyra’s tea – she took a sip and then gave a gentle ‘ah’ sound.
“I didn’t say much” The woman spoke and then set the cup down. “I am just learning this myself” she nodded. “But I have spoken to Fate, and she says it was so. Though now, no longer” she nodded. “Each of us ends their terms differently” she spoke softly. “The Roots of my Tree is strong, but it is said that the Devil himself would burn my home to the ground. Only then do I lose my position, when the roots of my essence are ripped from the Earth…” she nodded. “But this is not going to happen, not now” she smiled. “It is in the Devil’s favor for a new Gaia, how easy would it be to walk over everyone with fresh blood in one of the most powerful ranks…” she sipped the tea once more. “Saffron – one of my greatest inventions” she smirked and sipped once more.
“I wouldn’t have known this was to come – if Lyra hadn’t told me you can heal. This is a gift only by my hand, and those to replace me earn it prior to their placement. It is just how it all begins…” she shifted. “But, I have a greater plan. The little trickster slipped by being cocky enough to display himself to Lyra, her escape to us only gave us the indicator of his plans. So, we shall thwart them, as this is what we do…” she looked to the Queen. “You will not become a God, you will remain here amongst your people… but, I will make you into something nearly as good” she stood then. “You shall become an Arch Angel, a Angel who’s life is not over, unlike Lyra… she lives a second life. Meanwhile, you will retain yourself, but yet become the Keeper of Earth Below.” She nodded. “Should you accept, you would remain here as Queen. With enhanced powers, ability to communicate and see the Gods. We will push these Demons from this world…” she looked down with a serious face then. “But there will be war, death, and the Devil will bring his Hell to this earth. If it is not today, it will be tomorrow. You will be the Beacon of Hope, the Strength that Mortals need, you will become a grand weapon to end the darkness…” she nodded. “I will let you think this over… Lyra, let me know her answer…” she then disappeared into fog.
Lyra turned to the Queen, her eyes glanced to the ticking clock – which had been frozen during Gaia’s presence. “Does that… answer your question?” Lyra muttered and then sighed deeply. Her tea was empty, and she was left with so many questions.

Evelynne watched in awe as the woman stepped from the thick green fog. The room felt warmer, more comfortable. The churning of her stomach from worry ceased in this moment and she felt calm, almost the same as when her mother hugged her when she was a child. She glanced to the clock as it ceased in movement. Her eyes then moved back to the motherly woman, her brows pulled together slightly as she focused. It was so, that she was to be a Goddess, though...the goddess that stood before her said that Fate stated that it was no longer to become of her. The more the woman spoke of the roots of her tree and the devil...of what the future would hold. The more questions bubbled up within her mind.
The queen glanced to Lyra before she looked back to Gaia as she spoke that Lyra told Gaia of her ability to heal. The more she spoke the more confused Evelynne felt. She spoke in circles it felt. As if she was tugging at small strings of a cloth to unravel it, and yet still keep it together. Then as she spoke of making her an Arch Angel her brows pulled together once again. She’d never heard the wording before. An angel that has not lost it’s life on earth. Such a strange concept. She would have the powers that Gaia held...and yet she would not become a god. She wouldn’t have to leave her kingdom behind to fend for itself. That if anything was the best part of the whole speech that Gaia spoke. War was inevitible. It was something that was in the blood of humans, it always had been. Her kingdom had kept it at bay for such a long time that there was bound to be war. If there was to be such a terrible war against demons...why not accept this power? She would be able to guide her people to victory...at least that is what she hoped, just as it seemed Mother Earth hoped.
When Gaia left Evelynne’s eyes moved to Lyra whom seemed just as bothered by the twists of words that came from the goddess’ mouth as she was. The queen drew in a long breath, she looked to her mug of tea, she’d barely touched it. “Well….” She began and bit her lower lip. “Yes...and no...” She slowly stood and she stepped forward, she took the empty mug from Lyra’s hands and then placed her full mug into the woman’s hands. “I’ve never heard of an Arch Angel before.” She spoke her eyes searched Lyra’s. “If the demons are to come...then...I should stand as a beacon of light, if that is what she has offered me….perhaps it is fated that I am to become this tool of the gods.” She spoke and lowered her eyes slightly.
“I need...to think this information over, Lyra. Gods and Angels...demons.” She shook her head and let out a soft laugh. “This was all just a fairytale to me before I met you. Things that I still do not fully understand. This...is a lot to process.” She placed her hand on Lyra’s shoulder. “Breakfast.” She spoke and gave a small smile. It showed on her face the level of stress that brewed within her. “I would like you to dine with the king and I in the morning. Please.” She nodded her head. “I will see you then, Lyra.” She slipped from the room then and walked down the hallway. Her mind raced. She made it to her room where she pushed the heavy wooden door open. Her heels clicked as she stepped inside. She turned and closed the door, her hand lingered upon the cool metal of the handle.
A chill ran down her spine then. The air in the room seemed to drop thirty degrees, if not more. Evelynne turned around to see a silhouette standing at her balcony, the drapes were frozen in time as they blew into the room. She looked to Leon whom was getting out of the bed to come to her, but he was frozen too. His body was halfway up, his hand pushed against the heavy duvet. The queen took a step forward into her room, her breath felt as though it was caught in her chest. “Who are you?” She questioned as she stared to the figure.
“You know exactly who I am, darlin.” The voice was smooth as licorice as it floated across the room to her. He stepped forward into the dim light from the candle, the flame as still as can be. He wore fine clothing, a perfect suit upon his body, his face was clean shaved his hair slicked back. A smile curved up his lips as he stood before her. He reached forward and touched her cheek. “Won’t you join me?” He questioned. “There’s much more hidden beneath the words of the gods than you’d imagine. Perhaps, I could show you a thing or two?” He tilted his head slightly, his thumb brushed against her skin as his eyes stayed on hers. “The words that they speak are not all that truthful. In fact. Quite hurtful it you ask me.” He smirked then as he dropped his hand to his side. “Could you imagine it.” He lifted his hands up as if there was a sign that he squared out with his fingertips. “Gaia and the Devil working together.” He grinned to her, a wicked look about him. “We could change things, darlin. Things need to change around here.” He touched her cheek once again. “Think...about it. Hm?” He vanished into a puff of black ash then.
Evelynne stood her eyes stared forward. The devil himself. The devil himself had paid her a visit. Her blood ran cold. Her heart pounded within her chest. She sucked in short jagged breaths. “Eve…?” Leon stood from the bed and placed both his hands on her shoulders. “Eve...it looks like you’ve seen a ghost...you’re pale as the moon.” He touched her cheek and searched her eyes. “Come on...you must be exhausted.” He walked her over to the dresser. “What is it?” He asked her softly.
The queen placed her hands upon the dresser as she fought to catch her breath, she closed her eyes as she held back tears. She wanted to tell him. She wanted scream...but she couldn’t. She couldn’t tell Leon about any of this. She knew better than to try to place such a burden upon him. “I’m just...tired Leon.” She took in a breath as the laces of her corset loosened. She stepped from her dress and pulled on her night gown. She turned and hugged herself to Leon then as she closed her eyes. “This whole situation...the demons...you...almost died...I almost died...” She pressed her face against his chest. “Our city was burned and badly damaged...”
Leon held her a long moment, his head rest on top of hers. “I know.” He spoke and kissed the top of her head. “Come on, we will figure this out. But first.” He stepped back and looked into her eyes, his hands upon her shoulders. “You need rest.” He smiled to her before he took her hand and led her to the bed.

The next morning the king and queen rose and got ready for the day. The two dressed to compliment each other, reds, golds and whites made up their attire for the day. They made their way to the dining hall and sat down. Evelynne hadn’t slept much at all. She couldn’t stop thinking about her meeting with the devil. What did he mean? Things needed to change? She held her mug of tea in her hands as she stared off blankly, deep in thought. Leon looked to her with worried eyes as he sipped upon his tea. He’d never seen her like this. Not even when the demon controlled his body, she always seemed calm. At least...she put off that vibe. Now, she looked worried, frightened even. “Eve…?” He reached a hand forward and touched her arm just as the doors to the dining hall opened.

Lyra looked up to the Queen and then nodded "I understand, it is hard to comprehend, and knowing it will impact you so..." she stood and then placed a gentle kiss on Eve's cheek. "Good night my Queen" she glanced to the necklace resting between her collarbones - Lyra smiled and touched it with a hesitant finger. She nodded then and stepped back, allowing Eve to slip away to her room. Lyra turned then and made her way to her bedroom. As she did - she felt a wave of cold shoot through her spine. Her head lulled slightly and she took in a sharp breath - it was a familiar feeling, a familiar scent. She felt her muscles squeeze then, her body fight her as she tried to move. In reality she moved in slow motion, as if surrounded completely by thick mud, or strings pulling back against her. She pushed her body forward, muscles quaking as she pushed towards the door of the Queen's room.
She struggled so much that blood leaked from her nose, her eyes becoming blood shot - threatening a blood burst. Lyra's teeth grit and then suddenly the strength holding her back released - she fell forward, landing onto the ground. Her palms pushed forward to break her fall and she breathed heavily, her hues looking at her own reflection in the glossy floor. She moved to sit on her knees, breathing in sharply. She could hear the King through the door, tending to his wife. Slowly her head hang slightly and then she stood, wiping the blood that trailed to her lip with the back of her palm.
Lyra made her way to her room and she shut the door, her back pressed against it. No doubt that the Devil had visited the Queen, placing his fear and doubt. She hoped he was nicer with her than he was with Lyra. He held nothing back with her, and it was terrifying. Lyra shut her eyes and then moved to the center of the room. She sat on the ground and crossed her legs - pressing her hands not each of her knees. She sucked in a deep breath and released her magic. Emitting from her body was a beautiful gentle white hue, it grew large and large until it pushed past the walls, and into several rooms. Her magic reached outward to the Queen, layering her with its angelic touch. This would bring her sleep... ease the pain, it was the best she could do without interrupting into the room. She could sense the darkness...
When morning came Lyra opened her eyes - she sat in this position the entire night, her spell channeling the entire night. She was woken by a Maiden who had pressed a cool rag against her cheek and neck. "You have exhausted yourself" the woman spoke and smiled gently. Lyra tilted her head to the side, allowing the woman to sponge her skin. "Why do you do this?" she questioned. "You have given everything to this Kingdom, you stay up the whole night in your prayers, bringing us your gift..." she whispered and then combed her fingers through Lyra's red locks.
"Because I must" she whispered and let out a deep breath. She reached a hand back and touched the woman's forearm. "Thank you..." she spoke and then stood up. The Maiden nodded and bowed her head.
Lyra cleaned herself up and made her way to breakfast.. she sat at the table, to the right of the King, her hues glancing to the Queen. "Morning..." she spoke softly and then her eyes looked to Eve, she smiled weakly and then sat back. A coffee was poured for her, and then breakfast was brought outward. The King turned his gaze to her and then smiled.
"Good morning indeed" The King smiled "I slept very well, something felt different, I suppose having you back here changes so much... Part of me is a little more confident, I am not riddled with as much fear..." Leon bowed his head and took a bite of his eggs. "We have already contracted a group to begin the build on your school... you will need to pick out the design, we have several blueprints to choose from, we can do this after breakfast" he spoke and took another bite.
"I appreciate that, I will surely select... how quickly will it be built?" She questioned.
"It should take roughly 2 weeks, the team on this is going to work day in and day out, they are an excellent team." he smiled "They are worth every Penny.... I have a question for you" he spoke and leaned back. "How do you get new students? How do you determine if someone has magic?" he questioned.
Lyra smirked then and summoned an orb of white light in her hand. "This will" she spoke and she let go of it. It shifted to the center of the table, moving on its own. "This can sense the magic in others" it slowly hovered to Eve and then glowed a gentle blue color. She moved her hand slightly, and the orb then float towards Leon. It hovered for a moment, the color turned a light red for a brief moment and then shifted to blue. "Seems you have magic within you, you would be capable, with training" she smiled. "Most people are capable, actually, Magic is part of our soul. When we go through the school - we learn what kind of magic you are attuned to. Maybe people have a unique power, maybe a few, and others might have a lesser capability, but magic none the less. When we teach you to touch your magic - you learn easily what is in store for you... The hardest part is exactly that though, finding your magic, and harassing it. It was quite the feat for Eve..." she smiled.
"When we finish the school, perhaps you shall become my second student, My King?" she questioned with a smile.
Leon smirked then. "Perhaps, nothing would be more persuasive then a King and Queen with magic..." he looked to the Queen and bowed his head. "I look forward to this..."
When breakfast was over Lyra was ushered into his study to select a school, they shifted through several designs, and the King mulled it over more than she. In the end she finally had to select and end their suffering, as he was very indecisive. When she finished she slipped out and made her way to the Queen's study. She knocked on the door with her knuckle and stepped in. She turned and closed the door. "He visited you last night..." she spoke softly and shifted to the seat before her. "Are you okay?"
