Sidara looked to the Princess, she was quiet as she argued with Rhett. Part of the discussion made her chuckle slightly and then she gave a sigh. “Yes, I saved you. Let’s not dwell on that...” she turned to Rhett and then raised a brow as the Princess’s voice cracked. Shen turned her gaze back to the Princess who questioned about the war.
She thought for a long moment and she let out a slow breath. “Osrey is the most tactful position to occupy, and those who own Osrey – own the capital market. Not to mention – the greatest font lies beneath the castle” she turned her gaze to Rhett and she sighed once more. “I know of it. Lothlorian elves wish to occupy the font and become Ethereal, meaning – someone who can harness its power. If we can unlock it – then the people of Osrey can harness it themselves. The truth is – Lothlorian doesn’t quite have the magical power as Bastion, but the only way to fight magic – is with magic” she crossed her arms. So I will unlock the Font for your people, but you will have to use it to fight Lothlorian. Otherwise, they will win...” she looked to Rhett for a brief moment.
“I think we are stuck with the Princess. She seems in need for an adventure...” she smiled then. “Not to worry – I’ll protect her” she reached down then and pulled the hatch to the ladder that went downward. “We’re burning time, lets go” she spoke and then leaped down into the hole. She landed easily, not even using the ladder. She lifted her lantern – a flame suddenly appeared upon her wish – and she handed it to the Princess.
Sidara then held a hand up and a glowing green orb appeared, she lowered her hand but the orb remained. It float by her shoulder – expelling a gentle hue of light, enough to see a good bit infront of her. They walked through the tunnel a long ways, until they came upon a Y. She lifted her head and sucked in a breath “hold on” she muttered. She meditated for a moment and then pointed to the right pathway “This way” she spoke. Just as she and the Princess stepped forward – there was a sudden rumbling. Sidara shifted back and gripped the Princess, yanking her forward as rocks tumbled downward, barely landing on them.
Sidara wrapped her arm around her – a barrier of magic surrounding them as rocks continued downward. The cavern calmed down after a moment – but left Rhett on the opposite side. “We’re fine” she called from the other side. Her arms released the Princess and she blushed slightly. “Continue down your path Rhett, It will connect – its just a longer pathway. Stay to the right on any turns” she called out. “I’ve got the Princess – we’ll be fine” she called out. She turned and let out a breath. “Lets keep going” she smiled to Azelyn. The orb sifted forward slightly infront of them, guiding the pathway. “Here” Sidara pulled her sword and handed it to the Princess. “Just incase, hm?” she smiled. “There are guardians of the Font, I don’t want you to feel unarmed. Let it guide you, you’ll figure it out” she hinted that the sword was enchanted, which it was. Yet another little thing of hers. She was a decent swordsman, but with the rapier – she was an excellent swordsman.

Being so close to death itself brought a terrible pain to the princess’ chest. Even with the cloak she fought back the urge to cry. She began to wonder exactly how her brother died...they now had the elf that had killed him in custody. Was that the same elf that killed Julian? The man that was to be her husband. Her best friend since she was a small child. Though her thoughts were jolted to a stop as Sidara began to speak of the reason the Lothlorian elves might want to overtake Osrey. The position itself, possibly. But then again Lothlorian was in a tactful position as well within the mountains. Though as Sidara spoke of the font it began to make more sense. If it was power that they were seeking. Then this was the place to gain such a power. “We can learn magic?” The princess drew her brows together slightly. “We can’t lose...” She spoke at the end of the speech and her eyes moved to Rhett whom looked rather defeated.
Rhett gave a heavy sigh and bowed his head slightly. “It was a losing argument. I knew it from the beginning. Once the princess has her mind set on something...it’s hard to talk her down from it. Hm?” He gave a weak smile. He wasn’t comfortable with this. Not at all. He watched as Sidara jumped down the hole and he shook his head.
“Don’t worry, Lieutenant. The elf will protect me.” Azelyn spoke before she carefully made her way down the ladder. She watched as the flame came to life within the lantern. A curious smile curved up her lips. She grasped the lantern. A grin split her lips as she looked to the orb that Sidara created. “You have many talents.” She spoke with a curious gaze that landed her eyes upon the elf.
Rhett used the mechanism on his lantern to light his own. It sparked to life and he chuckled. “She can clean floors pretty well too.” He bumped his elbow playfully against Sidara before they began through the cavern. As they made their way he took up the rear, his eyes moved about, looking for any dangers.
“I...didn’t even know this existed.” Azelyn spoke as she looked about the beautiful cavern. Sparkles glittered from within the rocks, shoots of gold and silver. It was incredible that the cavern was untouched.
“It’s an escape route. Just in case something were to happen. The knights all know of it, as well as your mother and father.” Rhett spoke as he lifted his lantern to look about the cavern himself. “I’ve been down here….once...” He nodded and gave a slight chuckle. “Once was enough. This place gives me chills for some odd reason.”
That was the moment that they had come to the Y. The princess looked back to Rhett and chuckled softly. “I think it’s beautiful.” She spoke as they shifted directions. She looked back forward just as the cavern began to collapse. Azelyn let out a yelp as Sidara grasped onto her. She dropped the lantern in the commotion and her arms instinctively wrapped around the elf. She shut her eyes as she prepared for the worst. Though after a moment she opened her eyes and looked up to the rocks that bounced off of the barrier. When everything calmed she had to tell herself to let go of Sidara. Her heart pounded within her chest.
“Princess?!!” Rhett yelled from the other side. There was a silence for a moment as he’d listened to Sidara. “Alright! You better keep her safe the queen will have my head if she so much as has a scratch!” He said it with a light tone in his voice. He trusted Sidara.
Azelyn stared to Sidara, she noticed the slight pink to the elf’s cheeks. Though the smile that Sidara offered her caused her to smile back. She grasped her lantern and clicked the flame back to life within it and held it up once again. When Sidara offered her the rapier Azelyn hesitated slightly. “Just incase?” She questioned almost nervously as her fingers curled around the hilt of the blade. “Guardians of the font?” She asked then as she followed. “You were right about me wanting more adventure, Sidara...but this may be more than I can handle. I’m not a fighter...” The last part was said a bit quieter than the other.
The princess walked forward. They entered a large opening within the cavern. “Oh wow...” She exclaimed as she stepped over to stalagmites. She reached forward and touched the stone that protruded from the floor with a smile upon her lips. She then stepped toward the edge that overlooked a dark hole that descended into the cavern. The pathway would take them deeper into the crust of the earth. She looked to a small stream of water that ran over the rocks and down into the hole. “How do you know when you reach the font?” She asked curiously. “Are all fonts like this? Beneath the ground in caverns?” The princess was incredibly curious. She pulled the cloak a bit more around her as she shivered. It seemed that the deeper within the cavern they went the cooler the air became.

Sidara lead the two forward, the orb seem to move with its own life – hovering from one side of the tunnel to the other. She listened to the Princess speak of how she was not a fighter. “You may not be one today, but you will be” she spoke softly, almost cryptically. She knew the truth of the Princess, and what the books told of her past. She knew with her actions – it would only propel the inevitable. Though, part of her wondered just how much the books hid about the Princess, though being in presence… she could feel something.
As they stepped into the first opening – her eyes looked around. Her orb split into two and they swirled to the height of the cavern and back down – allowing them a full picture. The room was closed off – the only way down was the hole below. Her boots echod in the room as she stepped over to the hole, looking down. The green orb float down and lit the next room – it wasn’t too far down. “Most fonts are underground, yes. Think of it like – this cavern exists because the Lifesource seeps from the core of the earth, creating these cracks in the earth, striving to release itself above ground. You know when you’ve found a font cave when you see things like this…” she stepped over to a rock and pointed to a glowing blue mushroom. She plucked it and lifted it in the air “These mushrooms are full of that lifesource, you’ll see many plants and even creatures that are… impacted by this source of magic” she set the mushroom down on the ground.
“We are all beings of her energy, her magic. Anyone can wield it. Humans have never really sought it because they believe it is elven only, or even dark and evil. But…” she smiled in the pause of her sentence. “Someday, Humans will be the most powerful mages, over Elves themselves” she nodded. “Are you ready for more adventure?” She questioned and held her hand out. She drew the Princess in and they slowly levitated into the air and lowered down the hole slowly. With care – they landed below and continued forward.
“You will know when we make it to the font…” she spoke softly. She hummed softly – the gentle sounds echoing in the vast cavern system. They continued down a more narrow tunnel. The emerged in another opening of the cavern, it was an almost perfectly rounded room, with a dome above them. She paused and held a hand in front of Azelyn… she summoned a ball of fire that float in the grip of her hand. Emerging from the hole in the center of the room came a crawling black creature – with four long legs that were like swords at the tip, it crawled like a sort of monkey – spider… thing. She grit her teeth and shifted into a different stance – it was apparent she was trained in fighting.
She shot forward the fire ball – which broke out into four more balls, colliding into the creature. It only seem to stir the animal and it pounced forward. She thrust her arm forward and shot a wave of power, slinging it backwards. Beads of water began to float in the air as she summoned them and they lashed forward in whips of water, lashing at the beast. Sidara summoned a greater ball of fire and threw it forward. The creature cried out as it hit one of its legs. It seem to shake it off easily and then lunged forward. Sidara pushed the Princess to the side and held her hand out – catching one of the blades in her hand as she was pushed to her back.
Sidara grit her teeth as the creature fought in her grip – “eat this, ass hole” as sudden shock of electricity shot through its body. She moved to her feet and she slammed her fist into it’s gnarly head and slammed it downward, magic backing up her motions. “Princess!” she held the creature down – lighting shaking into its body. “The sword, finish it!” she called out, looking to the Princess to gain the strength to muster the final blow…

Azelyn looked to Sidara as she spoke as if she knew the future. She shook her head slightly. “I have trouble even killing a fly.” She let out a soft laugh as she stared down into the hole. She lifted her eyes to followed the orbs as they lit up the entire cavern. The princess looked around the room for another pathway. Her lips parted to question where they should go, just when the orbs began to descend into the hole her question was answered. “Um….” She turned her gaze to look to Sidara as she began to speak. Her answer received a nod from the princess. She stepped forward and looked to the glowing mushroom. “I’ve...seen these.” She spoke as her icy eyes locked on Sidara. “It was in a dream...” Her brows pulled together slightly. She fell quiet again as the elf began to explain the magic. Humans would become the most powerful mages?
“If human will overpower elves...why would you do this?” She questioned with furrowed brows. She then looked to Sidara’s hand as she reached out toward her. “How will we...” She looked to the hole and then back to the elf. The princess took her hand a bit hesitantly. She gasped as they hovered in the air and down into the hole. Her breathing had quickened. As fascinated by magic as she was, it frightened her. She let out a long breath as they landed safely on the ground. “I’ll know it hm?” She spoke as she walked forward with Sidara. “If it is something so grande...I cannot wait to see it.” She smiled slightly. “I’ve been cooped up in the castle my whole life. It’s been so dangerous...I hardly ever get to leave the castle walls.” She let out a soft sigh. She nearly walked into Sidara’s hand. “What...” She began to question as the fire ball was summoned into the elf’s hand. The princess took a few steps back as her eyes fell upon a creature. “Sidara...wh-what is that?” Her eyes became wide. She watched helplessly as the elf entered her fighting stance.
The princess took a few more steps back as she watched Sidara spring into action to fight the beast off. The power that Sidara held was incredible. She could control all of the elements it seemed. Though she was so distracted by her fascination that she was nearly struck by the beast. Luckily Sidara pushed her to the side. Her lantern clattered across the floor as the princess stumbled. Both hands upon the rapier now. She trembled slightly as she watched. It was then that Sidara cried for her help. She grit her teeth, “I...I don’t….I….” She looked terrified. Her heart raced within her chest. She felt a tug then, as if someone had a hold of the tip of the blade. She remembered Sidara stating to let the blade guide her. Azelyn rushed forward as she allowed the blade to lead her. She let out a cry as she brought the blade down over the head of the creature. Blood splattered to the cold stony ground as the head was severed. It rolled across the floor and the princess took a few steps back. Her breaths were quick. Blood dripped from the tip of the blade.
The princess lifted her gaze then. “Sidara watch out!” She cried. She lunged forward and the blade sank deeply into the chest of another of the creatures. She stood with both hands upon the hilt as she pulled back on the blade. It was stuck in the body of the creature. She gave another good tug before she stumbled back, her heels clicked loudly and echoed in the cavern. Azelyn looked to Sidara with worried eyes. “Your hand...” She spoke as she stepped forward. “You...” She drew her brows together. “I’m going to slow you down...this was not a good idea for me to come down here...” She looked back to the defeated body of the creature. “I’m not a fighter, Sidara...I have not had any training like you...I...” She furrowed her brows and shook her head. It was lucky that she had the cloak on, what little courage that she did have was merely because of the cloak. The princess had never been in a situation like this before.

Sidara breathed deeply and she slowly stood, approaching the Princess after she finished off the second beast. She looked to her hand and smirked “I’ll be fine” she spoke and slowly the flesh began to heal. “Hey – “ she stepped forward swiftly and cupped the Princess’s cheek with her hand. “You’re doing great” she peered into the woman’s eyes. “Hell, you saved my life – twice” she grinned. “I owe you one” she pulled her hand away and reached for the belt that held the sheath of the blade on her hip. She undid the clasps and then stepped to the Princess once more. She calmly fashioned the sheath around her waist and nodded. “She’s all yours now, okay?” she smiled then brightly.
Sidara then turned and looked around the large room – the orbs floating once more to light the way. “This way now” she stepped towards the hole that lead downward. They would have to do a little bit of climbing. She stepped downward and jumped to the next spot, about a foot down from their spot. She held her hand out and helped the Princess downward. She did this twice more until they were going down the next path, this was slightly angled – leading them deeper. “We’re getting closer” she spoke softly, she could feel the strength of the font growing stronger as they traversed down the tunnel.
“The war between Elves and Humans will never end. There is a war against elves with elves…” she sighed softly. “If I do this…” she looked to the Princess for a long moment. The green orb float between them – lighting the curves of their faces as they stood rather close in the slender tunnel. “Then you and your people may actually have a fighting chance… the war to come… it’s not even fair” she spoke and then looked forward to the tight squeeze they had to shift through, two flat rocks that had been carved away by the shifting waters. She turned and squeezed through – her hand held out to the Princess to help her through… she stepped forward to an edge. She looked down it – it was very deep. “Down there” she spoke as an orb float down slowly. She held her hand out once more to float downwards….

The princess stared to Sidara as she watched the flesh of her hand heal. Her jaw was loose. The only thing that brought her back, that grounded her, was the touch of Sidara’s warm hand upon her cheek. Her icy hues locked on Sidara, her breaths shuddered slightly. She gave her a bit of a pep talk, that grin caused the princess to manage a slight smile. She even blushed slightly as Sidara removed her hand. It was calming. She wondered if it was magic that made her feel that way. The princess held her breath then as Sidara’s arms had wrapped around her to fasten the belt. Her cheeks were more evidently blushed now. “I...I’ll give it back after this. You need it more than I do.” She gave a weak smile.
It amazed her how Sidara just kept moving. If Azelyn had been by herself she would have had to stop. She followed close behind the elf and took her hand each time she had to jump down. It wasn’t an easy feat in her attire. In fact, she wished she had known she was going to be jumping down rock facings...heels and a corset were not the best. Azelyn kept close to Sidara though, her eyes moved about to look at the small tunnel that they walked through. It caused her to be in such close quarters, closer than she usually was with anyone else. She paused as she turned to look into the elf’s eyes, her brows furrowed slightly. Sidara spoke as if she’d seen this before. As if she knew exactly what was to come. What was next. How could she know of a war that had yet to come? Though the princess couldn’t think of a way to ask such a thing. She stepped to the edge of the hole and drew in a breath. “Don’t...drop me okay?” She gave a nervous laugh as she took Sidara’s hand once again.
The two floated down into the hole, the princess held onto her hand tightly. She held her breath slightly. Though soon enough her feet were upon the ground. As they landed the light from the green orbs dissipated. Though, a gentle blue glow remained. “The plants...how are there plants here...” Azelyn stepped forward. Grass lined the edges of the thin tunnel. It had a faint glow to it, just enough to dimly light the tunnel.
The princess stepped forward then, ahead of the Sidara then as she made her way into a beautiful opening. The cavern opened up into a dome like room that held many different plants that all glowed in their own hue. Even the water seemed to glow within the room. There was a pathway that led to what appeared to be an alter in the center of the room. It was a beautful stone that stood at least thirty feet tall with magical runes inscripted upon it. Water seemed to flow into the pools from beneath it. The princess glanced back to Sidara with a smile upon her lips. “This is it.” She spoke as she looked back ahead. “You were right.” She let out a soft laugh. “It hard to miss...was this created?” The princess questioned as she stepped forward toward the stone. She reached forward only for her hand to be caught.
“Don’t touch that.” Rhett spoke with a gentle smile. “How about we let Sidara deal with this?”
Her fingers were just a few millimeteres away from the stone. Something within it seemed as though it called to her. She lowered her hand and gave a smile as her icy eyes moved to Rhett. “I’m glad you’re okay Lieutenant.” She spoke, “Sidara kept her promise, she kept me very safe.”
Rhett looked to the rapier that hung around her waist. “She doesn’t know how to use that...” He sighed slightly.
“It’s enchanted.” Azelyn spoke up and grinned, “So I do, actually.” She turned her gaze to Sidara. “How do we...do this?” She asked then as she looked back to the beautiful rock. She looked around the room. There was a main pool near the rock that seemed to glow the brightest, it was a beautiful icy blue, almost the same color as the princess’ eyes.

Sidara stepped forward and smiled as Rhett came from the shadows nearly. She smirked to the Princess’s attitude, it was spunky in a way. She made her way to the pool of the water, her eyes looking to the huge alter. “The truth is… These fonts have been known and worshipped for thousands of years. They were sealed away by the Earthwardens, only to be reopened again when the time was right…” she looked at the stone – the runes and scripts written in the surface, carved deeply.
“Life born from her source and grace, shall be ever preserved and protected, until the day her kind to perish, the world would then know Oblivion…” she read the unique language. “A prophecy” she spoke softly. She stepped towards the pool of water then, she looked into the glowing blue water for a long moment. “It was here” she spoke softly, her voice ringing in the room. There was a gentle breeze that shifted the plants direction – their scents wafting about them. She turned to Rhett and the Princess and she smiled – she didn’t finish her sentence, in truth – she wanted to tell it, but she hated the idea of it. Slowly she stepped to the water, but she did not sink in. Rather she walked over the water step by step until she stood in the middle.
“I am here to make sure this Prophecy does not come true…” she spoke and then turned toward them. She began to glow a bright blue – the water crawling up her legs and chest, until she entirely was surrounded by the glowing water, just a figure of glowing blue. She held her hands upward and from her chest came a beam of light. This light had every color – swirling around each other into a beam of colors. Water droplets lifted into the air – the beam grew stronger and wider, the figure of Sidara disappeared in the mass of colors and light. Suddenly all the water splashed downwards. Sidara had been floating in the air when – she suddenly fell into the water, sinking down swiftly…
While she sunk – colorful orbs sifted from the water, something came rushing upward. A beautiful purple and blue hue came hovering out of the water – the font began to open, the magic filling the room, bursting outward like air that had been trapped in a room. A voice reached out from the pond “Princess” – it was a whisper of a voice, Sidara calling out with her last bit of magic to offer.

The princess turned to look to Sidara as she stepped to the water. As she spoke of how the fonts were sealed away Azelyn glanced to Rhett. She didn’t speak she only pondered on thoughts. Why would the fonts be locked away? When the prophecy was read it caused a chill to run down the princess’ spine. It didn’t sound like a good thing. Not at all. The princess took a step forward but Rhett stopped her. She glanced to him once again before her eyes looked back to the elf. She watched as she walked over the water, as if it were ice. She was here to stop the prophecy? Who was this woman? She was more than she stated…
The princess watched in awe as the water rushed up over Sidara. The colors were beautiful. She couldn’t pull her eyes away. She reached out and touched one of the droplets of water as it floated into the air. She glanced to Rhett whom had wide, worried eyes. Azelyn flinched slightly as suddenly the elf fell from the air and into the water. She watched as the colors came from the pool. There was a slight breeze as the magic sifted into the room, it pushed the princess’ hair from her eyes. “She’s hurt.” The princess began to step forward.
“No.” Rhett grasped her arm. “This isn’t safe...” He glanced around nervously.
Azelyn pulled her arm from him. “I can’t let her die, she’s trying to save our kingdom. You heard her...didn’t you? She’s trying to stop the prophecy from becoming our reality.” She then rushed forward to the edge of the water. The princess hesitated for a moment before she stepped in. She sank into the water quickly. What was guiding her courage? She wouldn’t be able to explain it if someone had asked her. The princess pushed into the pool, she kicked her legs as she swam deep into the water to find Sidara. When she found her she wrapped her arms around her and kicked the base of the pool to thrust them upward toward the surface. She choked as she nearly ran out of breath before the top.
“Princess!” Rhett called, he was at the edge of the pool as the broke through the surface. He knelt down, “Come on.”
Azelyn kicked to the edge, she had to fight to keep Sidara above the water. She released her as Rhett grasped onto the elf. Azelyn placed her hands on the edge of the pool when suddenly the orbs seemed to rush toward her. She let out a cry as she was tugged beneath the water. “Azelyn!” Rhett finished pulling Sidara from the water. He tried to move forward but something seemed to stop him. He grit his teeth. “Princess!” He yelled almost frantically.
The princess was sucked down into the water until she was so far within the depths of it that only darkness surrounded her. She screamed as she fought against her invisible attacker. Her air emptied from her lungs quickly as she tried to kick her way free. Though something incredible happened then, she was surrounded by the glowing blue orbs. Her body tensed as her muscles felt as though electricity spread through her body.
From above the surface the water was turbulent like the waves of an ocean expecting a hurricane. Rhett pulled Sidara back from the edge. He tapped her cheek. “Hey...hey you need to wake up.” He tapped her again and then shook her shoulders. “Sidara please.” He pleaded.
Suddenly the princess lifted from the water. Glowing water swirled around her swiftly. She lay horizontal to the ground. Slowly her body was lifted into a standing position, her hair floated as if suspended, without gravity. Her head lulled to the side, it was clear that she was unconscious. There was a rumble within the cavern system, the font was opening and releasing its magic to Osrey. A burst of energy came from the princess. A blinding white light emitted through the room. Rhett rushed forward, his eyes fearful. “Sidara get up!” He yelled almost angrily. “She’s going to die!” He exclaimed in a frightened manner. He watched as her body lowered toward the ground. He reached forward and grasped onto her. “Princess.” He cradled her into his arms, she was soaked from the water as he carried her and lay her on the ground. “Princess...please...” He pat her cheek. He leaned down and placed his ear on her chest to listen for her heart. Her heart beat rapidly within her chest. “Sidara please….you must wake up...” He begged as he lifted his eyes. Creatures crawled from the shadows around the room. Scraggily creatures with lengthy appendages. Like something out of a nightmare. Drool dripped from their jaws as they crawled forward. Shadows whipped around the creatures. Rhett stood and drew his blade. “Sidara….now would be a good time to wake up….” He prepared himself for battle.
Though, something surprising happened then as the creatures approached, some that stood on two legs knelt, the others with four legs seemed to bow. Azelyn’s eyes fluttered open, her breathing seemed to return to normal. Though, her eyes were glowing a beautiful teal blue color. The creatures all faced exactly where the princess lay. Along her arms lines began to form, the same teal color. Runes much like what were scribed into the stone, though different than the prophecy. The creatures stayed for a few moments longer until they simply vanished into smoke. Leaving the group unharmed. Azelyn gazed up to Rhett whom looked to her with worried eyes. “Princess...are you hurt?” He asked cautiously.
Azelyn sat up slowly. Her eyes stared to the runes upon her arms. “What...happened?” She questioned softly. She gazed around the room. She felt different. She could feel something within her had changed, something that she’d never felt before. Slowly the glowing runes began to disappear from her arms and the glow from her eyes faded away.

Rising from the water behind them came a single figure. It was a blue hue of a woman – her hair long and flowing. She was nude – though her features could not been seen through the hue color of her flesh. “Now comes the rise of my Earthen children” the voice was woman’s – deeper, like an alto singing in the chambers. Her voice was beautiful – yet terrifying at the same time. “Azelyn – the forgotten Earthwarden blood runs deep in your veins… while Sidara is only a partial – it was your strength that summoned me here to… I have been released from my bounds, held down years ago in effort to suppress my will… Take my gift and bring forth the virtuous truth… For fate has turned this day, our history and future shall be rewritten…” she looked to Rhett then.
“Honorable Knight, accept my gift – you shall rise a Paladin of the Light, a harbinger of justice – in my name – the Earthmother you shall fight” she then peered to Sidara, who still lay unconscious. “Our time drifter has cause the ripple, her goal has been met – but she must see this truth to its end. Oblivion shall be held back once again, but you three will carry on and the time of my reign will come once more…” she suddenly disappeared in a powerful wave of magic.
Sidara suddenly gasped – she sat upward and gripped her head. “Is…everyone okay?” she questioned as she slowly stood, her hues looking to Rhett and then Azelyn…

Rhett pulled his sword instinctively as he heard the water dripping from the body of the woman as she rose from the water. “Princess.” He spoke as he stood and turned to guard her.
Azelyn slowly stood, her eyes began to glow once more as the woman spoke. She placed her hand upon Rhett’s shoulder as the woman began to speak. She lifted her gaze to the woman as she spoke. She spoke of Earthwarden blood...that it ran through the princess’ blood. Her brows pulled together slightly in confusion. She spoke of the future that would be rewritten. Such cryptic words. Rhett took a step back slightly as the woman spoke to him, speaking of justice in her name. Then the most surprising of all. The woman spoke of Sidara as a drifter of time. The glow began to disappear from Azelyn’s eyes as the woman disappeared and the wave of magic pushed into her body. It caused her to take a step back.
Rhett placed a hand over his chest, the hilt of his sword glowed, the embellishments upon his armor glowed blue as well. “Princess?” He questioned and looked to her with a confused gaze.
Azelyn turned as Sidara sat upward, the glow still dimly remained in her eyes, though after a few seconds it faded away. “Tell me Sidara what does it mean that you are a drifter of time?” She questioned. “Is that how you know of the wars to come? Of the prophecy that was spoken of on this stone?” She questioned and touched her hand to the stone. The runes all began to glow and then suddenly the original runes began to disappear until new runes etched into the surface. The princess stepped back and bit her lip slightly. “There was a woman...she spoke of my blood...” She looked to Sidara then as if the woman would have guidance for her. “She said that I am a forgotten Earthwarden...that the blood runs through my veins...what...does that mean?” Her eyes began to glow once again, the runes etched across her skin and face. She looked to her hands as she took in a quick breath. “What...does this all mean?” She questioned quickly.

Sidara took in a deep breath “I missed her, huh?” she sighed softly. She stayed seated on the ground, her arms propped up behind her as she caught her breath. She was exhausted – to say the least. “The lineage of Orsey has been rooted her for hundreds of years. Your ancestors were Earthwarden… the children of the Earthmother herself… the woman you likely saw moments ago – the Goddess that shed life onto this planet…” she sucked in a breath slowly. “The Earthwardens had been killed out and their fonts were closed, by the Lothlorian – for they were not gifted by the Earthmother, so they punished her by locking her away. The Bastion people had unlocked a font, but they did not have an Earthwarden to unlock the Goddess herself…” she sat upward now, hugging her knees to her chest. “The release of the Earthmother will reignite the lost Earthwarden blood, and bring her people back to life. The last hope revived, today…”
“I am from the future” she spoke softly. “I fought a man – who brought forth the Oblivion itself, the last Earthwarden himself, who sought to kill all life on the Earth – as punishment for what they had done to it…” she shook her head. “In our battle – he cascade me into the past, and that is when I arrived here. I found out quickly where I was, and knew I had to set the future onto a different course…” she slowly stood and looked to Rhett, and then to Azelyn. “In my time period – your father is killed on the Harvest Moon, Orsey becomes taken by the Lothlorian, then a huge war proceeds between Bastion and Lothlorian, eventually – Bastion would win. Earthwardens would become harvested and killed out, the fonts would become energy pools where humanity would create disastrous inventions and weapons, sucking the lifesource from the very planet, until it became a wasteland of decay…” she shook her head. “Not anymore”
“Your father will not die, you will rise and fight for the Mother, Lothlorian will never claim Orsey. All I can hope is this new path of time – is better than before…” she crossed her arms. “If the Earthwardens remain alive and continue to protect this world – then Killian will never come to be and I…” she looked up then. “I don’t know what will become of me” she whispered and then her brows pulled tight. “What I’ve told you… in this room, you must not speak that I am from the future… but I have no doubt your parents are aware of your Earthwarden blood. It is why Orsey exists…” she sucked in a breath.
“’I’ve had enough talking.. lets go” she spoke and walked towards a round gate. It was just stone – but as she approached it – she held a hand and it lit up with magic. “I might have been here a few times” she winked and then stepped forward. She walked through it easily, it was rather seamless. She appeared in the garden – where a similar gate rest, except it was covered in vines and flowers, appearing as an archway…

The princess watched Sidara and gave a nod when she spoke that she’d missed the goddess. “Yes...” She glanced to Rhett and then back to the elf as the glowing disappeared from her body. She listened to the elf as she spoke of the history and of the future. She gave an almost sad look as she listened. How horrible the future must have been. The last hope...was Azelyn? One that was not a born fighter. She took in a breath and bit her lip slightly. “Harvested...” She spoke as she furrowed her brows and shook her head. “That’s horrible...” She whispered softly.
The future that Sidara spoke of sounded worse than anything that she could imagine. She gave a nod when she spoke that what she stated should never be repeated. “No….because...we will not allow it to happen.” The princess spoke with a confident voice.
Rhett looked to the princess and gave a nod. “I will protect you both. We will not allow this to happen again. Nothing will happen to you Sidara. I swear on my own life.” He offered.
The princess helped Sidara to her feet and she followed her to the stone gate. She was quiet as she watched her easily open it. A smile curved up her lips. “I can imagine.” She spoke as she watched her. They walked through the gates and into the gardens of the castle.
Rhett stepped forward. “The sword.” He spoke as he held his hand out. The princess looked down to the sword around her hips and gave a slight nod. She unclasped it and handed it over to Rhett as she heard the sound of quick footsteps approaching. “Cloak too.” He gave a soft smile and nodded. The princess quickly relinquished the cloak to Rhett before she turned her eyes forward to the knights that approached.
“Princess!” The captain came rushing forward. “We have been looking everywhere for you.” He looked to Rhett. “Where have you been?” He looked back to the princess, her clothing was perfectly dry somehow. The Earthmother’s blast of energy had dried it. “Come. The king and queen are very worried about you. We have caught the assassin.”
Azelyn glanced to Sidara and then to Rhett. “We will speak more later.” She gave a nod before she walked off with the captain.
Rhett stood and stared after he princess. He drew his brows together slightly. “There is something about the princess I need to tell you...she doesn’t know it...” He glanced to Sidara as he pulled her into the building within the gardens. He shut the door and let out a long breath. “She is a Lothlorian elf.” He stared to her a long intent moment. “The captain kidnapped her from Irineu...I heard him speaking of it to the king when I was first hired upon the guard...they do not know that I know...but...” He swallowed slightly. “She has their traits….the white blonde hair...the bright blue eyes...she must be an Earthwarden because of this...she is not of our blood...” He stared into Sidara’s eyes. “The king and queen lost their daughter...she was incredibly ill...that is why the prince was to take the throne...until he was killed in battle...and then a prince from Hugo was to take the throne with Azelyn by his side. The king had made all of these arrangements...his name was Julian...he was the only true friend that the princess has ever had...” Rhett rambled on quickly. So many secrets that the kingdom had kept over the years that he had slowly discovered. “The people of Osrey do not know that she is an elf...” He whispered. “They do not know that the king and queen lost their second born to a terrible illness...”
**
Azelyn took in a breath as she walked into her father’s office. The king and queen both stood at his desk. Her mother rushed forward and hugged her. “Az, you’re alright.” She kissed her cheek. She pulled back and looked to the cut upon her neck that remained. “We will have this elf killed the moment that we have drawn every last bit of information from him….” The queen hugged her again lovingly. “I’m so glad you’re alive.” She squeezed tightly and released her.
The king stepped forward and hugged onto his daughter as well. “Sweet Azelyn.” He spoke and kissed the top of her head. “We wouldn’t know what to do if we lost you.” He whispered as he fell silent and held onto her for a moment longer. “What happened? I heard he attacked you.”
Azelyn stepped back from the hug and nodded. “Yes...he was dressed as a knight...Sidara saved me. It is her that you should thank.” She spoke with a soft smile. “She was right, she told you the truth father.” She looked to the man a long moment. “Elves...are not...inherently evil...just the Lothlorian...it is their beliefs...they plan to overtake Osrey...the assassin said it himself. He planned to kill you and their troops would overrun the city...” She muttered softly.
The king furrowed his brows and gave a nod. “We must thank the Bastion elf then.” He glanced to the queen whom nodded. “I’m glad you are okay.” He gave a gentle smile. “We will question the assassin further. Though we must continue on. Tonight we must continue on with the joust. As if nothing has happened. I have sent our soldiers to examine the lines of our kingdom. We will not lose to the elves. The war is over.” The king kissed the top of her head. “Please, go get changed for this evening and decide which knight you plan to give your favor to.” He smiled gently and hugged her once again.
The princess took a step back. She looked to her father and mother a long moment before she nodded and turned. She walked from the room, her heels clicked along the marble floor. She found her way back to her room where she sat down on her bed. It was then that things began to overwhelm her.

Sidara turned with the Knight as she was lead back to the small cottage. She crossed her arms as she listened to him speak, the truth of the Princess. “I knew I felt something different with her… before everything in the caverns…” she pressed her lips together and nodded. “This truth never made it to the textbooks, we’ll keep it that way. She is the Princess of Orsey, her hidden lineage may be the saving factor to the Kingdom…” she looked to him then with serious eyes. “Your protection over her is important, but now she must have room to grow. If she does not harness the magic within her, it will consume her, it is it’s way” she looked to him. “You too.. when it comes, do not resist it” she looked out the window, a guard was walking past.
“You’ll know when it happens… just trust in it, and yourself. Magic is all about your will, you cannot force it, understand? The more you use it – the more you can do. Oh and… congratulations” she smirked then. “Paladins were not supposed to be a thing until 200 years into the future, you are the first. A holy knight, wielding magic and blade…” she chuckled “it is quite the blessing” she nodded. “We should report” she spoke and then reached for her cape, she pulled it back on and fashioned it.
She followed Rhett as they made their way back into the castle. They made a quick stop at the armory where they dropped her sword back off, until the King deemed her worthy of it. After which they made their way to the Office. She stayed outside the office with two other knights, as Rhett initially entered the King’s office…

Rhett gave a slight nod, his expression was nervous, or possibly worried. “I’ve never told anyone...like you said...she must remain the heir to the throne...no one must know of this. I...feel as though I should be happy to be a paladin...but I am only more worried for the princess...” He spoke before they left the cottage. The walk to the king’s office was silent. He glanced to her before he entered and he bowed deeply before he knelt before the king and queen. “My king. The elf has made progress. She was able to open the font beneath the castle.” He spoke as his head remained bowed. He would mention nothing of the princess.
The queen gave a nod and a smile. “Wonderful news. Will it fix our ill cattle and dying crops?”
“Yes, give it a few days.” Rhett spoke. “She means well. She saved the princess from the assassin, my queen.” He stood slowly. “Without prompting. She even saved the knight that was attacked.”
The king sat at his desk, he took a drink of whiskey from his glass and then nodded. “Very well. You shall stay with her. She may have helped us. But...she is still an elf.” He spoke a bit gruffly.
“William.” The queen turned to her husband and glared to him a long moment. “That does not mean anything...she is different. That is possible. Humans are both good and evil. We have had plenty of wars with other kingdoms over their greed.” The queen then nodded to Rhett. “Be sure she is allowed to attend the activities this evening. She deserves it. Tell her thank you for us. We have had a long day. Be sure she is fed dinner...it is getting rather late.”
Rhett bowed deeply. “Of course my queen.” He spoke. “Thank you my king.” He turned and left the room. “Come on.” He spoke to her as he took a turn down the hallway toward the dining hall. He led her into the kitchen where he built two plates and he handed her one. He walked her back to her room with a pitcher in hand. He then sat down heavily. “The king is impossible. Even with all you have done he does not trust you...you have save my life...the princess...even the king’s life...if not the entire city...” He grit his teeth and shook his head. He was clearly very frustrated. “Could you….do that thing?” He asked as he pointed to the pitcher of water. “I...really need a drink...” He admitted. “And we are expected to attend the jousts...” He sighed heavily.
**
The princess stood upon the short stood as her handmaiden undressed her once again. She was placed into a beautiful blue dress with silver trim. The corset of this dress was black. Her hair was pinned up and tasseled perfectly. “Are you alright?” Val questioned carefully as she tightened down the corset.
“Yes. I’m wonderful.” Azelyn lied. She had to learn how to fight. A war was coming and she didn’t know the first thing to do. It was a heavy weight upon her shoulders.
Val had the princess move to her chair and she carefully went through her make up. She carefully covered the cut and soon enough the princess looked as perfect as a doll. Azelyn stood and walked from her room. Her heels clicked upon the floor as she made her way through the halls and to the carriage out front in the castle courtyard. “Driver. I would like to request that Lieutenant Rhett and Sidara ride with me.” She spoke as she climbed inside of the carriage with the driver’s help.
“Yes of course.” The driver spoke and gave the order to the knights to fetch the elf and the Lieutenant.
**
“Azelyn must be incredibly stressed by all of this...” Rhett spoke as he finished his wine. He leaned back in his chair and looked to his empty plate. “And...she doesn’t even know the information that I told you...” He sighed softly. He paused as a knock came from the door.

Sidara followed Rhett to the kitchen, she assisted and carried the water back to her room. As they came to her table she slumped down – exhausted as could be. The feat she performed today took everything out of her. She looked to the pitcher and smirked – she touched it with just a finger and it turned to wine. “We all have our secrets… remember?” she smiled and then poured two glasses. She sipped happily and leaned back in her seat.
“She may not know, but her past doesn’t matter nearly as much as her future. This is trying times for us all… but” she smiled “I know it is hard not to worry…” she placed hand forward – her gloved fingers falling over his wrist. “If I learned anything in my hardships – it would be to stop and cherish what is around us now, and fight everyday to keep it going. People are going to come and go, you will win a fight, and you will lose… but if we don’t appreciate the reason for it all, then it is for nothing” she drew her hand away and ate her food. She scarfed it down pretty swiftly – and soon a knock came to the door.
“The joust tonight, hm?” she finished her wine. “You know…” she chuckled. “I cannot recall the last time I even did something… fun” she walked to the door and opened it – to a Knight who was told to fetch them. “All I’ve ever done is fight fight fight” she followed Rhett, in tow behind the Knight. They were lead to the carriage where Sidara entered.
“Ah, Princess” she bowed her head and sat down next to her, Rhett sitting across from them. She turned her gaze to the Princess and then smiled. “You look stunning” she reached over and tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear. “That’s better, can see your eyes a little more” she leaned back then and relaxed. “You know, I’ve never been in one of these before” she spoke as the carriage started forward. It was bumpy, but kind of relaxing. “So vintage” she reached to the cloth that draped over the glass window. She then turned to the Princess as they rode. “How are you holding up?” she questioned softly.
