Emery grit her teeth as the punches came down upon her arms. She gazed to Halvor whom shoved at his older brother. The young boy had only known Emery for a short while but, he already wanted to defend her. Against his brother even. It was then that the punches suddenly stopped. Emery felt Tarben quickly climb off of her. She blinked a few times as she caught the fear in his eyes. She looked from where she lay to see Tora. The fear that this woman stuck into those of the village was incredible. It was a power like none other. Emery felt a hand on her shoulder and she looked to the young boy Halvor. She smiled to him. “I’m alright. He’s just angry.” She whispered as she got to her feet.
She stood with her arms crossed over her chest as she watched Tora speak to Tarben. She watched as the boy boiled with rage. Her expression was sad. She felt for him. He’d lost his family. To her hand. She couldn’t blame him for his anger. He deserved to grieve. But Tora was right, he couldn’t allow it to control him. She watched as he was kicked in the chest and as Tora handled him. It was more aggressive than her own people, but she’d been taught a lesson or two the hard way. Sometimes it was much needed.
Halvor grinned and caught the stick. “Thank you Tora!!” He grinned as he rushed forward. He looked to the stick, a sense of pride in his eyes.
Emery caught the stick and she looked to Tora. The woman never ceased to surprise her. She stepped forward. “Alright.” She spoke as she moved her stick forward and tapped his. “Let’s see what you’ve got, hm?” She grinned to him as they began to duel. Emery enjoyed it. It was clear in her expression and the laughs that came over her lips. She enjoyed the fight, the duel. She moved about effortlessly. Halvor swung at her haphazardly. Emery laughed lightly and held a hand up. “Let’s practice your control.” She spoke. “Slow it down.” She moved her sword slowly. “Block my attack.” She continued to move at a slow pace. Teaching the young boy how to control his sword. “Now step.” She pushed forward. “Step.” She continued moving. Coaching him about all the while. Emery worked with Halvor for quite some time before the boy’s mother called to him.
Halvor gazed over his shoulder and then looked to Emery. He grinned and rushed forward to her. He hugged her. “Thank you, Emery.” He spoke before he looked to Tora. He beat his chest and grinned. “One day I want to be as strong as you, Crow.” He smiled, “So that I may fight for you, and defend our people and bring Odin’s honor to us.” He looked over his shoulder as his mother called again. He then waved and rushed off.
Emery held both sticks now, a soft smile upon her lips as she watched him rush off. She brought her hues to Tora and have a slight nod. “He will make a great warrior one day.” She spoke as she leaned the training sticks against the fence. “Size…isn’t always what matters in conflict. If one knows how to use their weaknesses to become their own strength.” She smirked slightly. Emery’s smile faded quickly though. “What may I do now?” She asked as she looked to Tora.

Tora passed by each of the young ones who trained. She circled and corrected a few of them, and then nodded at the others. "Shuffle -" she called out. Instantly the crew began to move aorund the dummies. They hacked with their wooden axes and kicked with their dominant leg, and then stepped.
Tora then clapped her hands "Shield wall!!!!" she shouted loudly. The 15 or so children suddenly rushed to a stand - where wooden shields were mounted. They moved as fast as they could. They grasped their shield and then assumed their positions, like a perfectly formulated system. They didnt need to communicate, they filled the gaps where necessary.
"Advance!" Tora shouted.
They stepped forward as a group. "Hold!" she shouted. The group grasped their shields and brought them closer - to put their weight behind it. She approached the wall and shoved against the occasional shield with a boot, but they held their wall. Tora stepped back "Slam and slash!" She called. The crowd stood and the - in sync- performed a shield slam, and then hacked with their axe a single time. In an instant they returned to Hold...
Tora grinned "Perfect, you are dismissed for lunch" she called out. She turned then and looked to Halvor. "That'll be you by next year" she grinned. It was then that he hugged Emery, and beat her chest to Tora. Tora balled her own fist and beat her own chest in response. "You will be, and when that day comes - you will honor me, Halvor" she smiled as he ran to his mother, who smiled as she watched.
Tora turned and approached Emery as she came. "Size is rarely ever that matters... Some of our strongest warriors are Shield Maidens, majority are half my size. But they are fierce... if anyone knows anything - it is never take a Viking for its size" she grinned.
"You have done enough. Come" she waved her forward and they stepped to a building not far. Inside was several wooden tubs, a bath house, divided by curtains. Tora stepped over to the well that was inside of the building and pumped a bucket. She began to fill a tub... and then she placed a pot of water over the churning hearth.
"You will rest..." she crossed her arms. "Tomorrow we are going to the Neighboring Village, Yedinburr, who we just made peace with... We will argue the rights on the farm villages neighboring..." she sighed. She lifted the boiling water and poured it into the tub so that it became warm and comfortable. She then moved the curtains about the tub to give her privacy... She set a bar of freshly made soap down on the wooden stool, a small bowl of scented oil - as a kind of conditioner, and a linen towel.
"You will dine with us tonight in the Long House, until then - you are free to relax" she spoke and then turned away. "If anyone gives you shit, give it back... but I doubt they will.." she smirked and then moved past the curtain and left the building...

Emery glanced to how Tora taught the young ones as she continued to work with the young boy. For young children ranging all sorts of ages they had incredible skill. The organization was something that she’d never truly seen. Sure her people could ride into battle upon the backs of their horses. But, to create a wall of shields that would protect them? That wasn’t something she’d ever seen. When they slammed the shields forward and then attacked with their axe she imagined just how well those two actions complimented one another on the field. The interaction with Halvor caused a warm smile upon Emery’s lips as she looked to Tora whom encouraged the boy. She knew that in many societies that smaller children, especially the boys that were of his size got left behind when it came to training. They wouldn’t be selected to become knights. Instead they would be forced into more menial tasks that were less enjoyable. Emery laughed lightly to Tora’s comment. “I’ll have to remember that. I am amazed that your people allow so many women to fight. It is almost taboo where I come from. I am the only female upon the entire guard at the castle. Simply because my father wanted it. If he was not king I do not believe it would have happened.” She followed the woman into the building. The warmth inside the building was calming, the smell of pine from the wooden tubs. She watched as Tora began filling the tub and heating a pot of water. She crossed her own arms over her chest as Tora spoke of their task that they would face the next day. She rose a brow slightly. It was interesting for her that Tora would take her with her...even after the Goddess had claimed she was an enemy. Emery watched as the woman placed the items for the bath out and then looked to her as she spoke that she would dine in the long house. “Thank you, Tora.” Emery a bit awkwardly beat her fist against her chest as Tora had taught her the day before. “I will assist you in any way that I can.” She spoke before she turned to the tub and looked to the steaming water. She stood for a long moment, her mind racing as she thought of the events that had happened to her. She tried to remember how Tora had been freed from the boulder...how her legs were not broken. But she couldn’t place it. She slipped the clothing and leathers from her body piece by piece until she slipped into the tub. A sigh of relief came over her lips as she was surrounded by the head of the water. She winced slightly as her arm touched the edge of the tub. She looked to the backs of her forearms and let out a sigh. She had a bit of bruising from defending herself against Tarben. Nothing substantial but the young man hit hard. Emery spent a good deal of time in the back. Cleaning herself up and doing just as Tora said, relaxing. Eventually she climbed from the tub and dried herself off before she dressed herself back in the clothing that Sara had given her. She cleaned the area and placed the bottle of oils back where Tora had gotten it from. As she did this she heard footsteps entering the bathhouse. Her hazel hues turned to see Sara as the woman walked in with a neatly folded change of clothes in her arms. The woman smiled, “Ah it is good to see that you are doing better.” Sara spoke as she walked into the bathhouse. She set down her clothing at one of the tubs. “You know, Emery. You ought to do your hair like we do. It’ll help you not stick out as much.” She spoke as she reached up and touched a lock of Emery’s dark hair. Emery smiled and nodded her head to Sara. “I am doing much better, thank you for your help with my wounds.” She then raised a brow to the woman. “I’m not sure. I’ve never done braids like your people have in their hair.” “Sit then.” Sara spoke with a grin. “If you’re going to be Tora’s pet then you had better be presentable. Hm?” She grabbed a brush and began working on Emery’s hair. She ran braids along the sides of Emery’s head that were tight against her skull. Another braid was made along the top of her head that was done beautifully the way that her hair pulled together caused her hair to almost puff up at the top. The rest of her hair fell behind her shoulders. Sara had weaved in a piece of cloth into Emery’s hair that held a raven charm within it. She smiled when she was finished, “Here you are. Much better. I do believe even Odin himself would approve.” She grinned. Emery's hairEmery looked to a mirror that was offered in the bathhouse, she smiled. “Thank you, Sara.” She brought her fist to her chest, still a bit awkwardly. She then made her way from the bathhouse and wandered through the city. Her eyes looked to the people as they completed their daily chores. Chopping wood to ready for the winter that was to come. Grinding grains. Prepping a freshly killed elk. She stood at the blacksmith for quite some time to watch as he made the carefully crafted axes for the village. Eventually Emery made her way down to the docks. She sat down at the end of one of the docks and gazed out over the open ocean. The waves lapped against the sides of the ships that were tied upon the long wooden docks. The cool mist from the ocean caused a soft smile to curve up her lips as she gazed over the beautiful landscape surrounded by mountains. Emery held a hand to her head then, she grit her teeth and sucked in a shaken breath. It was the same feeling she had when Tora’s glowing eye looked upon her. ** Emery stood upon a ship that cut through the sea. The spray off the sea was cool upon her skin, the sky was filled with clouds. The ship was close to docking upon a shore. She gazed about to see several other ships. Viking ships. Long boats as they called them. The men jumped from the ships to drag them upon the shore. Emery stepped from the ship and walked forward, her hues looked to the forest, the soft glow of faeries that peered to the newcomers from the edges of the forest. Emery drew in a breath as she pressed forward onto the beach.
A single figure appeared at the edge of the forest, a long bow in his hand. It was readied and aimed directly at someone behind Emery. Though Emery rushed forward and called out to him in the ancient elven language. The bow moved to aim to her. She stepped forward at his command and continued to speak in the old language to him. Other elves appeared at the edges of the forest, all holding their bows with notched arrows. Emery glanced over her shoulder to look back to the vikings as she walked forward toward the elves. Suddenly arrows began to fly through the sky. The sound of arrows puncturing into shields filled her ears. She let out a scream and turned as she pulled her sword from her hip and she rushed forward. As she did this the world disappeared around her and faded to black.** Emery gasped as she came back to. Her breathing was quick. What was that? A vision?” She held a hand to her head a moment and shook her head slightly. She’d slumped against one of the wooden pylons of the dock. She straightened herself up slightly as she furrowed her brows. Was her mind playing tricks upon her? It was hard to tell. Perhaps it was this other soul that Tora mentioned that was playing such tricks. She rubbed the hilt of her sword as she tried to make sense of the dream.

Tora made her way back into town, she tended to a few things - where she often checked in with some of the elderly and ensured they were good to go. Afterwhich she was summoned to the docks where she and several other men loaded a small boat with lumber - they soaked the wood in oil and prepared it for the ceremony... She had glanced Emery off on one of the other empty docks some time ago... after wrapping up - she stood and watched from a far, for a moment. "She doesn't look half bad, now" Fredrick nudged her. Tora glanced to him and then smirked "I don't have time for that" she replied and straightened herself from the powerful nudge. Though her playful smirk did not fade. "Right right - you are focused on the Glory day to come" he chuckled "What is glory with out a little of fun.. hm?" he grasped her shoulders and shook her slightly. Fredrick was tall, bulky with a long braided beard. He had a traditional single braid down the center of his head with shaved sides... He did not wear leathers - only when it was too cold for him to bare. Otherwise he was always shirtless, with a single sided shoulder piece... He was the rising warrior to fear - he was already building a legacy that could match some of the seasoned warriors... He himself was the same age as Tora, they both grew up together and were quite close. It was even common knowledge that Fredrick fancied Tora, but as he had said - she was too 'focused' for anyone, or anything... Despite it all, the two were always found together, a fierce team in war and even more so beyond it. /82/298d82e157e8237991ed7e202e0efcc4.jpg" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">i.pinimg.com/originals/29//82/298d82e157e8237991ed7e202e0efcc4.jpg"Well, Jork is dead. Tonight, try to have a little fun hm? An ale or two with your pal Fredrick" he grinned "Bring her along too, if she is to fight along side me then I want to get to know her.." he slapped her back and then stepped away. Tora watched him walk away and then she made her way over to Emery. She pulled her brows together as the woman glanced over - and a memory flooded her. She stumbled slightly and came to - sighing softly. She had to learn how to control this... visions occuring without her wishes... Though something was different with this one. Tora came over and sat down on the edge next to Emery. "The future that time" Tora spoke and glanced at her. "The Northern star had shifted... in a month it will be... " she pointed up to the sky. The sunset was just starting and the stars were beginning to shine. "There..." she sucked in a breath. "Plus, you know. Obvious, I think" she stood and walked down the dock slightly and looked to the glowing colors from the sunset. "Not much we can do to change it. Maybe a few small things... but at least I know we'll make it there" she chuckled and then turned back around to look at her. "You look the part, you actually look - quite good" She grinned. "We're gathering - Jork shall be sent, come on" she pointed to the larger dock, where people began to crowd around. She lead Emery through the crowd, weaving between the people. Tora stepped past the line of people and approached her father.. Erik was placing the body upon the boat. He arranged the man's arms and placed a shield over his chest... he lowered his head briefly. Before Emery could have stepped forward - Fredrick placed a hand on her shoulder and made her stand next to him, in the first row of people. "Just watch" he spoke to her and clasped his hands infront of his hips.. Tora stepped forward and untied the ship and she nudged it with her boot. The crowd was quiet as the boat began to take to the sea. It was pointed directly at the setting sun - which was midway through... The crowd waited quietly until the sun hid just beyond the horizon. It was a quiet night. The waves lapping on the shore and the crowing in the distance was the only ambience... Tora held a bow to Jarl Erik, who took it from her. She then held the arrow to him and held a torch upward. Erik dipped the arrow in the fire - lighting it ablaze. He then drew back and let the arrow go. The arrow landed perfectly on the boat and it lit swiftly... "See you in Valhalla, Jork Haggensod" he spoke softly. "Valhalla!!!" The crowd suddenly burst in a shout. Erik turned and grinned "Tonight we feast and celebration of Jork - until we are so fat and full we can't even fuck our minds away" he grinned. "We shall tell every story we can remember, and surely make some tales up too of him..." he laughed. "Quickly to the ale now" he pointed to the long house. The Village began to make their way to the village center. Logs were added to the giant bonfire.. and many large barrels of ale were brought out to the center... Tora nodded to Emery and Fredrick. "Emery, this is Fredrick Stormborn, a good friend of mine" she smiled and then waved for them to follow her to the long house. Fredrick glanced down to Emery and smiled to her as well. "Im going to get you both fucked up" he laughed and clapped his hands as he stepped into the crowded long house. "Sit sit sit - " he pointed to an empty round table. "I'll bring us the goods" he commanded and he stepped away. Tora sat down and took the mug that Fredrick brought moments later. "Skol!" she shouted and held her mug up. Suddenly the entire Long house held their mug up and shouted Skol and everyone took a long swig. It was followed by a crowd of laughter, even from Tora and Fredrick.

Emery gazed out over the waters, emotions rushed through her from the vision. She looked to Tora as the woman sat down next to her, her brows were furrowed. Almost in a worried way. Her hues were amber in this moment, her expression softened as she listened to Tora speak. “The future…” She spoke after a long moment, the elvish accent flooded her tone. “The future of my people rests within my hands and yet…it seems that I cannot stop it from coming. Nor can I slow it down.” She stared to Tora a long moment. “I do not wish to fight my people, Tora. Emery will fight for you, I can feel that. She is a strong warrior and you’ve saved her life. But I…do not wish to harm those that live within the Nimrodel forest.”
Her breath shook slightly and her head lulled a bit. Her eyes opened once again and the hazel color had returned. Emery furrowed her brows and held a hand to her head a moment. She grit her teeth for a moment as she looked to Tora. She stood slowly and followed after the woman. “Oh…Sara did my hair for me.” She spoke and gave a nod. “Thank you.” She smiled then as the fog that filled her head began to fade. She followed Tora closely as they weaved through the crowed of people.
Emery was caught by surprise as a man placed a hand on her shoulder. She looked to him curiously a moment before she realized that she shouldn’t follow Tora any further. Her eyes looked back as Tora approached Erik. It was a beautiful ceremony. Something she could have never imagined. She watched with a loose jaw as the beautiful boat was pushed out to sea. The setting sun offered that much more to the send off. The sound of the waves lulled Emery. She furrowed her brows as she heard the words of Farryn in her mind. She glanced to the viking next to her and then back forward to Tora. Was she going mad? She clasped her hands before her, mimicking Fredrick. She watched as the flaming arrow cut through the dusk sky and lit the boat upon fire.
She looked to Fredrick as he was introduced to her, she gave a smile before she followed after Tora. When they made it to the long house Emery looked to the mug that was placed before them. She furrowed her brows as Tora yelled the word Skol. But everyone in the long house echoed the call. Emery lifted the mug of ale to her lips and took a long drink. She choked on the flavor of the ale slightly. She coughed a bit and forced the drink down. She then looked to Tora. “What…does Skol mean?” She asked. Though as Emery asked it a group began to play music, beating upon drums and a pan drum. A woman stepped up to the crowd and began to sing. Others sang along with her.
“Come on dance, I’ll show you.” Sara pulled Emery into the crowd of people. The woman smirked to Tora and gave her a nod as she led Emery away. The dance was unlike anything the Emery had done before. It as a disorganized chaos. But. It was fun. Emery began to grin and smile. Sara would give her ale between songs as they danced among the clan. Soon enough Sara led Emery back. The woman’s cheeks were a rosy red. She held a mug in her hands and was all giggles. Sara placed a hand upon Tora’s shoulder. “There you are. No more walls left on that one. Hm?” She smirked once again. “She’s sweet, Tora. She really is. A good one to hold on to. If you ask me.” She chuckled before she was called off.
Emery hummed lightly as she swayed to the music. She grinned to Tora and lifted up her mug. “Skol!” She called out to her and took a long drink. The bite of the bitters in the ale didn’t seem to bother her much anymore.

Tora looked to Emery - her eyes grew wide as she stared to some one else. Her eyes - her expression, her tone and voice. Her brows pulled together as the woman spoke and she sat forward. "You call them your people" she spoke in a hushed tone. "Your people is here. The ones giving you bread and ale. If you walked into the forest tomorrow - those people would kill you." she sat back and then took a sip of her ale.
It was moments later that Emery returned - Tora sat back slightly and raised a brow. "Skol is Skol" she thought for a moment. "It's a word to describe everything that is great. Anything to raise a glass too. We shout it in celebration, and then we drink - a toast, in your culture" she held her mug up and took a sip. She smirked as Sara stole Emery to dance. "You should relax, little Crow" Fredrick spoke as he sat down a plate of food. "The Gods invented Ale, Music, Dancing - so you can smile and enjoy life. You ruin all the good moments with such seriousness" Fredrick spoke and ripped a chunk of meat and shoved it into his mouth.
Tora glanced to him and sighed. "Shush you" she spoke and took a bite herself. She watched Emery dance - she even smiled as she and Sara moved together.
"You should dance Tora, you haven't danced in ages" Fredrick spoke and then stood. "Come on, come on" he grasped her hands.
Tora fought against him at first until he pulled her to her feet and shoved her towards the group. Tora stumbled slightly and released a laugh.
"Tora - dance!" he shouted and grasped her hands and forced her to dance. At first she was relunctant but eventually got into the music. She was mostly dominated by Fredrick who pulled her back to him - in every way he was stealing the moment, and opportunity. Though his smile and laughter grew the more Tora smiled... and the more they both drank.
After several songs - Tora returned to the table and sat down with a thud. Fredrick came over with another ale. "See, not so hard, hm?" he grinned and he leaned down - he kissed the top of her head and downed his ale. "Now I will go fuck someone more willing, hm?" he laughed then and pat her back. He stumbled off drunkingly to the nearest woman - who grasped his arm and lead him outside, happily. There was always a line for Fredrick. Every night he would start with Tora, to be ignored - every time. But it did not stop him from trying...
Tora glanced up as Sara came back with Emery. She scoffed and rolled her eyes to Sara - to her comment. "Skol" Tora spoke and took a swig. "You're getting the hang of it" she laughed and helped her up. "Come on, can't over do it." she laughed and lead her outside...
She lead Emery to the bonfire and she looked to it for a long moment. Almost like the fire was going to speak to her, or say something. She turned her gaze back to Emery and she smirked. "We keep the bonfire going always. A light in the center of the village, which holds us all together. Burning for the Gods - so day or night, they can always see us..." she shook her head and laughed. "You didn't ask, but im explaining things anyways"

Emery giggled and smiled as Tora took a swig in response to her speaking the word. “Oh I’m trying.” She laughed again as Tora helped her to her feet. She leaned heavily against her a moment and another laugh came over her lips. “I may have already….drank too much….” She spoke and then she grinned as they walked outside into the cool night air. She leaned against Tora and held onto her for balance as she gazed to the bonfire. Her hazel hues looked to the woman as she smirked to her and began to explain the bonfire and its reasoning. When the woman shook her head Emery laughed as well. “Your culture is much more vibrant than what I come from.” She smirked slightly and then swayed to the sound of the music that came from the long house. “Even the dancing.” She laughed and shook her head. “Silas everything is carefully planned. Down to who I marry.” She rolled her eyes. “I’ve never agreed to it. Perhaps that is why my father trained me to fight…he never wanted a daughter.” She spoke as she drew in a breath. “But most rulers in this world don’t wish to have a daughter. Women are weak in the eyes of Silas.” She laughed again, her words were slightly slurred. “It’s not true though. Seeing your people.” She smirked and then giggled slightly. “You’re so strong…the things that you are capable of…” Emery’s eyes locked on Tora’s hues then.
“No….stop…” She groaned as Tora’s eye began to glow as she looked to the woman. Emery felt the fog flood her body as she gripped onto Tora and her eyes fluttered.
**
Darkness encompassed Emery. She slowly stood, the world around her was icy cold, as if she’d been submerged into a river in the middle of the harshest winter months. Her teeth chattered as she wrapped her arms around herself. She wore her shined armor that glistened beneath the silver glow of the moonlight above.
“Wrong way.” A voice spoke from behind her.
Emery spun around swiftly, her sword was drawn and her hues searched about the darkness. Laughter surrounded her. She grit her teeth slightly. “Who’s there?” She called out. “Show yourself!” She shook from the cold. Though fear did not bubble up within her. Somehow she felt completely in control.
Another laugh and the pale skinned silvery haired woman appeared before her. “Emery, darling, you don’t know who I am yet?” Ciliren stood before her with a playful smirk upon her lips. She looked down to her abdomen. Emery had slashed forward in an effort to protect herself. Blood began to leak from the wound. Though Ciliren lifted her hues back up to look to the woman before her. She took in a gasping breath as blood leaked from her mouth. “How…could…you…?” She choked out.
Emery’s eyes widened, her breathing quickened. “I…I don’t…” She pulled the blade back and took a few steps back.
The woman fell to her knees as blood poured from the wound and crept across the floor toward Emery. Though after a few moments Ciliren began to laugh. She sat back on her heels and a maniacal laugh came from her lips as blood stained her chin. “You should have seen your face, Emery!” She exclaimed and then stood. “Oh…” She turned to the side and suddenly grasped something from the shadows. “You again?” She questioned. Her fingers were wrapped around Tora’s neck. She grinned as she looked to the woman. “That glowing eye of yours.” She clicked her tongue.
“No, stop!” Emery lunged forward. Her arms wrapped around Ciliren and she tackled her harshly. Ciliren let out more laughter as the two disappeared into the darkness of the shadows.
Emery gasped as she came from the vision. Her hands gripped onto Tora’s arms. She swayed slightly as the grip of the alcohol took its hold upon her. Her hues were amber. “Ciliren.” She whispered. She stared to Tora a long drawn out moment. “Death’s daughter.” Her head lulled forward and her forehead pressed into Tora’s collarbone for a long moment. She took in a few gasping breaths as her body tensed. Then her shoulders loosened once again. Emery lifted her gaze to meet Tora’s she gave a soft smile, her hues were hazel once again. It seemed Farryn was trying to help Emery the best she could. The only way the elf knew how. But Farryn wasn’t strong enough to hold Emery back for long. “Nightmare or not…I’d save you if that happened…” She spoke and a drunken giggle came over her lips then as she leaned against Tora once again. “You’ve saved me, Tora. Captive or not. I feel more free than I ever have.” Another soft smile curved up her lips as she gazed into the woman’s hues once again.

Tora lifted a brow "Your home... Silas" she looked into the fire. "Sounds weak and sad" she laughed. "You've seen it here - there is no ranking, some fake society to make the greater feel grand and benevolent. Our leader chops our wood and hauls our hay..." she glanced to her as she spoke of the women of her kind. "I know this, it is typical. Sometimes even Women are doubted here, but it takes one strong Shield Maiden to prove that wrong." she smirked. Though as she looked into the woman's gentle eyes - her eye sparked, and a vision came.
This one felt different - cold. There was no scenery to play off of. Just darkness, laminated by a single unknown light. She watched Emery call out - though she could move in this dream. She stepped forward and then a person appeared. That woman from before... As the woman yanked Tora forward - Tora came to, she grasped the woman's arm but stared dead cold into her eyes. "You don't scare me" she spoke just as the vision broke.
Tora sucked in a breath and grit her teeth. She wrapped an arm around Emery as the woman stumbled, her thoughts racing about the vision... She glanced down to see Farryn's eyes looking up to her. She smiled weakly and then watched her eyes fade away. "Come on... let's get you some rest..." she spoke and lead her up to the training building. She had lead Emery by the arm, but when she stumbled - she quickly grasped her and balanced her.
She opened the door to her room and lead her to the bed and helped her onto it. "Well, you certainly have grown into our ways" she laughed. She knelt down and took Emery's boots off and set them on the ground. "Let me make you a quick tea..." she spoke and then left the room...
She came back a few minutes later balancing a mug of hot tea. "Should help with the sickness in the morning" she smirked and set the mug down... "Pack enough for about 3 days.... then meet me in the long house for breakfast.." she nodded and then left the room...

Emery leaned against Tora as she led her toward the barracks. Each time she'd stumble and Tora would catch her a laugh would escape over her lips. Being drunk wasn't something that someone of her stature was accustomed to. A glass of wine at a dinner, or champagne at a ball...those were the drinks she was used to. As Tora said before her society was full of rankings that made those of higher standing feel more important. The shield maiden was right in that thought. Her father, as the king, saw himself as the most important figure in the world. He saw himself deserving of ruling and conquering everything. He would push for such things and she knew it. Even with the orb gone she feared that he would find a way to bring the apocalypse that she saw over and over again in these visions.
"Oh?" She laughed to Tora's comment. She nearly fell upon the bed. "Sara helped me look the part." She smiled as her head hit the pillow. Her eyes lulled as the alcohol gripped her. "Tea?" She asked as she felt the woman remove her boots. In that few minutes that Tora was gone Emery had nearly fallen asleep. Her eyes opened and she sat up slowly. "Thank you." She took the mug and sipped from it. "3 days....got it..." She replied and gave a soft smile to Tora as the woman left the room.
Emery leaned her back against the wall as she sipped on the warm beverage. When she finished it she lay down and quickly fell asleep. It was a dreamless sleep and she barely moved through the night. Though as the movement within the barracks filled her ears in the morning her hazel hues opened. Her head ached and the light that crept into the small space seemed brighter than the sun had ever been. She sat up slowly and pulled her boots on. She held a hand to her head as it throbbed. Her eyes looked to the mug that sat on the side table as she thought back to the night before. She slowly stood and stepped from the room. Emery shielded her eyes as she stepped into the sun and a grimace formed upon her face.
"Too much fun last night huh?" A familiar voice spoke from behind her. "Come on, Emery." Sara walked up next to her and linked her arm around Emery's. "I hear you're going with Tora for negotiations?" She questioned as she looked to the woman.
Emery grit her teeth slightly, "Yeah...yeah that's what she told me. We will be gone 3 days she said."
Sara nodded and smirked slightly. "Well you certainly are going to have to learn to hold your alcohol like one of us if you're to blend in." She led her into the yurt. "I packed you a few things when I heard you were to travel with Tora. Sit down." She sat her on the cot and then walked over to a shelf that had several different bottles upon it. "More of a splitting headache?" She asked and then looked to Emery to wait for a nod. "You're lucky. Tora must have made you some of the tea." She smirked once again before she grabbed a few items and poured them into a pot that she placed over the fire in the center of the yurt. "You'd be much worse off if she hadn't done that." Sara grinned slightly. She then moved about and came back with a leather backpack that was neatly packed. "Since you have to look the part." She set the bag down and then stepped over to the pot as it began to whistle. She pulled the pot off of the fire and then poured an orange colored drink into a mug. "This won't taste as good as the tea, but it'll make your headache go away." Sara spoke as she held it forward. "Let me fix you here." She stepped around behind her and worked on her hair as Emery sipped upon the elixir. Soon enough Sara finished and then smiled as she took the mug from Emery when she took the last sip. "Alright, you better get going hm? Does your head feel better?"
Emery nodded and gave a smile, "Thank you, Sara...." She lifted the pack and then smiled a bit more. "I will repay you for this." She pulled the pack onto her back and then stepped from the yurt. She walked through the streets of the city and gazed about as everyone began their daily tasks. It was a well oiled machine. Everyone put in something to keep the city going. Unlike Silas where the nobles sat upon their chairs and refused to do things that were beneath them.
"Emery!! Emery!!" A voice called from the side. The young little boy, Halvor, rushed forward and wrapped his arms around her waist. "Are we training today?" He asked excitedly as he stepped back from her.
Emery grinned to him and then knelt down so that she was at his height. "Not today my friend." She spoke with a gentle smile. "I must go with Tora. But you must practice what I've shown you, hm? Then when I come back I want to see how much more skill you have with the sword."
Halvor frowned slightly as he looked to her, though he grinned after a moment. "I'll show you! I'll be ready for our next lesson." He wrapped his arms around her again and hugged tightly before he giggled and ran off.
Emery slowly stood as she watched the boy run off. Her eyes followed him a long moment before she started toward the long house once again. She got to the long house and pushed the door open. Her nostrils filled with the scent of breakfast food. A grin curved up her lips as she stepped inside. She walked forward and gazed about to those that sat and ate, they carried on conversations. Some even drank ale with their breakfast. She found her way through the crowd to Jark Erik. Emery stepped to him and paused a moment before she hit her chest, still a bit awkward in the movement but it was coming together. She grinned to him. "Good morning, Jarl. Tora asked me to meet her here for breakfast." She spoke as she looked to him.
