Asuna heaved as she lowered her arrow down – she never stopped her volley of arrows. The panther lay with several red arrows sticking from its thick pelt – which all disappeared. She stepped toward the two, observing Rhys – ensuring she was okay. “Just a flesh wound, hm?” she chuckled then.
The next room was beautiful – they were high above the tree tops. She slowly moved forward with the other two. “I hope all the fighting is done… I need a break” she muttered and then slipped her bow away, as the voice filled the room once more. She looked to her set of armor for a long moment…
She reached for the armor and then it suddenly came towards her. Her feet lifted from the ground and she felt it clasp around her. She stood with layered should pads that stuck out from her shoulder. Her gauntlets climbed all the way up her arm – plates with glowing red lines that traced the accent points. Her chest piece was one heavy piece, and a lower stomach piece – with a glowing red tree as an emblem.
Then her boots clasped on – they were tall and up to her knees, and two thigh plates. Her sword attached to her waist, dagger on her thigh, and bow on her back. She let out a gasp and held her hands out – observing her gloved fingers. “Wow…” she whispered and pressed her fingers to the chest piece. It was solid rock hard, but moveable and flexible.
Asuna looked to the other two and grinned “No, this is real. Uniforms and all… hm?” she chuckled. She turned swiftly, the last bit of her armor formed. On her back was a long cloak, with an elegant large hood. The same tree was etched on the back of the cloak, glowing a slight red.
She walked to the huge window and looked out it for a long moment – staring over the tree tops. “I heard of stories over the years of this giant. Always told to avoid him when roaming the forests. Who knew he guarded such a place? And that someday we would be chosen to enter it?” she turned and then crossed her arms. “They would only gift us this if they figured we would need it. This tells me there are greater threats out there than just the Baron… he may just be the tip of the ice burg. But… at first I saw it as a challenge, but now this is nearly a duty. We have been gifted glorious things… we have a role to play in the development of this world, of the people….” She grinned then “Plus it comes with really cool armor” she laughed and then turned back around.
Just as she did – another platform appeared. She slowly approached it and stepped on it, it was big enough for all 3. Once they all stepped on the platform lowered down a long tunnel. A stone door moved out of the way, once they stopped at the bottom, and it revealed the large room of the entrance. “To answer your question… this is the way out” she turned and looked to Navik, chuckling.
As they came out of the building the giant stood in his place. He slowly turned, as he did so every limb creaked and crunched, he let out a slight deep chuckle and then nodded. “You have emerged victorious… Now a shadow of the Precursors… you will continue your journey and develop your new found abilities. I wish you well on your journey. Now that the temple has completed its duty… I can rest in eternal slumber. Thank you… I have been dreaming of for this day…” he held up his huge hand then and a flash of green light emerged. The thick fog disappeared in an instant, and he froze into a statue. He stood with legs apart, arm in the air, looking upward into the sky…the eternal guardian of the temple…
“Rest in peace Brevaik” Asuna whispered and then turned from the temple. “Lets be swift… night should be coming soon. We do not want to be stuck in the forest then.”

Rhys turned as her own cape formed on her back, it was a beautiful cape with a strange insignia on it, the same insignia that the doors to the temple held. It swirled about with the curves of the design. It was the mark of the dark one, a precursor marking. Rhys looked to her gauntlets as the same marking etched into it. “I would have never imagined that something like this was in my fate.” She spoke softly as she examined the material of her cloak. Along her shoulders a chain link like material ran along the cloak in a ‘V’ type pattern. Then as she pulled the hood up it held the same chain link material around the middle of the hood. Rhys lowered the hood and looked over the Navik whom had his own cloak as well, it was a thick black cloak that had the insignia of the lion that had the gentle green glow to it. “What could be coming? What is happening in the world that we have now been called to protect the Precursors?” She wondered out loud as they lowered on the platform to meet with the giant once more. She watched as he returned to a stone like state.
Navik looked up to the giant, “Rest well.” He touched the leg of the giant as they stepped away.
“We have a long way to go to get out of this forest…” Rhys spoke. She looked over her shoulder at Navik and Asuna as they took off in a jog toward the north. “How far did Brevaik carry us exactly?” She wondered as they ran along. Her cape flowed behind her dancing in the wake of her movements. She jumped up onto a fallen tree and glanced around, “I’m not sure.” She shook her head and looked to the others. The next city to the north was Titan. It was a larger city, much like the city of Talbot. It had a mayor instead of a Baron though. Rhys had heard stories of Titan, it was supposed to be a beautiful place, surrounded in a green sphere that looked to be made of glass. Almost as if the city was within a globe. Though it was a protection spell that was cast years ago by a precursor that protected the city to this day. The only way in was a single entrance underground and one would have to make it by a heavily manned guard post to make it inside. No one had ever made it in that tried to rush Titan.
Rhys paused at the edge of a cliff and glanced around, she looked to the rushing water that fell for at least 200 feet before it crashed into the river below. She furrowed her brows as she looked around, trying to find a way across. Then something caught her eye in the distance. She took off and after a few minutes of running she stood before three platforms again, much like the trio of platforms inside of the temple. “It has to do something right?” She asked as she stepped onto her plate.
“Here we go again…” Navik spoke. “If another giant panther attacks us, Rhys…-“
Rhys chuckled, “Just get on.” She pulled him onto his platform.
Once the three stood on the platforms a rumbling came from the ground beneath them. Rhys watched as a bridge formed before them out of the same beautiful material that the temple was created from. Then poles shot up from the ground with flaming torches attached to them, a pathway. Rhys glanced to Asuna before she moved forward. She looked down over the edge of the bridge for a moment before they continued forward to the pathway that was lit before them. The sun was beginning to fall from the sky and shadows started to sweep across the forest. “We need to move quick.” Navik spoke, as he looked to eyes within the shadows.

Asuna stepped onto her plate and watched the bridge form. This was beyond anything she had really seen before, though she hadn’t seen much in her life. She made her way across the bridge. As they crossed it the back half began to disappear – slowly with their movement. As soon as they made it to the other side the bridge was gone.
Asuna gripped her bow and then glanced up to the sky. Just as she did there was a howling in the distance. An uneasy feeling swarmed her stomach. “Viper-Fangs” she knew the call, but hadn’t come cross many before. “They hunt for fun, often leaving the carcasses of the dead to attract more to kill….” She gripped her bow and then moved forward. “Let’s go” she spoke and lead the way.
They ventured through the forest. In the far distance the orb of protection appeared in the distance of the sunset. There was another howl – this time closer. “Sounds like we never get a break… these guys hunt as a wolf pack. They will surround us, and pounce all at once” she spoke and pulled at her string – an arrow appearing, at the ready.
“Crouch – assume a defensive stance – they will be hesitant before striking!” she shouted and he knees bent – her body getting low. Standing before her was a large wolf. He had two huge fangs that pointed past his jaw. Down his back were bone spikes that poked out of his tough fur. They were at just about every joint of his body. She pulled her arrow back and held it tightly, staring to the alpha. 3 more appeared… West..East and South. They crouched – growling. Then suddenly the alpha let out a loud bark and leaped for Asuna.
Asuna fired her arrow, it lodged into the alpha’s shoulder and let out a burst of power – but did not stop him. She held her bow up – his giant fangs caught on the bow, he pushed forward as she held her bow up. The alpha jerked his head and ripped her bow from her hands and threw it to the side. He then lunged forward. Asuna reached her hands up and gripped his mouth – upper and lower jaw. She cried out as his strength was strong, but then she began to glow red. Her armor’s insignias glowed brightly and seem to enhance ability.
She let out a shout as her muscles worked against the alpha – and then his jaw gave out. A huge snap and she had pulled them apart. She then punched the alpha in the face – sending him flying backwards. She turned then and reached for her bow – she then fired several shots into another Viper Fang – just as she did she felt a crunch on her leg. The smaller one of the pack gripped her leg and shook her violently, throwing her onto the ground with fury. Asuna cried out and grabbed at his face – but he shook against.

Rhys looked up to the sound of the howl. “Viper-Fangs?” She questioned, she’d never heard of such a creature. Though, in her lifetime she’d spent the entirety within the wall of Talbot.
“Thalis and I fought them before…” Navik spoke as they crouched. He held his staff at the ready. It was then that the alpha blocked their path. Navik glanced around as the others came forward, there were plenty more than the other three that showed from the shadows. He could feel it. Feel their eyes upon him.
Rhys had her sword pulled, she waited until the alpha made his move, in that instant the others came forward. She sliced into one, her sword punctured through it’s chest cavity, through and through. The beast howled in pain. Though it clamped onto her arm. Rhys grit her teeth as she ripped her blade from the monster. She turned just as another rushed toward her, she made to slice into the beast but it merely kicked her sword to the side, it clanged against the ground as she was shoved to her back. Rhys pressed her hands into the thick dirty fur that was matted with blood. Her muscles shook. Her eyes melted black and her other side came into view. She took her fist and slammed it against the side of the head of the beast just as it tried to chomp down on her neck. She scrambled to her feet and rushed forward. With a harsh blow a burst of lightening came from her and in the next instant she had another Viper-Fang on the ground. Her claws ripped the throat out as she spun around in a fury.
Navik had his own battle, he was surrounded by three in an instant the moment that the alpha had pounced on Asuna. He spun around with his staff as one lunged he gave a swift hit with the staff, knocking it back. He stabbed at them and kicked. His movements were fluid, years of training had given him an advantage. He looked as though he was dancing with the three beasts. Each move was carefully calculated. One by one they fell to the ground, and in that moment he heard the cry from Asuna. His eyes shot over, he looked to Rhys whom was taking down another Viper-Fang, she tumbled on the ground with the beast, ripping it to shreds.
“Asuna!” Navik rushed forward, with a harsh blow he smashed the skull of the young Viper-Fang and kicked it to the side. He crouched down and pulled Asuna up, “Come on.” He pulled her along quickly toward the orb of protection. He glanced over his shoulder as Rhys was surrounded by more of the pack. The last few. He grit his teeth and lifted Asuna into his arms he sprinted forward and set her down within the orb of light. “Stay here.” He spoke as he sprinted back.
Rhys spun around three beasts surrounded her. Her breathing was heavy. She lunged forward and one only to have it dodge to the side. The others jumped her and pinned her to the ground. Rhys let out a cry as on tore through her thigh. She swung and gripped onto another a blast of energy knocked it away. She felt another pinch as another gripped into her shoulder, tugging against the other beast. The two snarled and growled at each other as they pulled against her body. Rhys let out a whimper as the beast on her shoulder punctured through her armor with its sharp fangs. She tried to fight against them, though something about the bite of the beast made her dizzy. It was all a haze as Navik showed up, the clank of his staff against the beasts sounded and suddenly she felt her body lifted into his arms. Navik sprinted toward the orb. “Come on, Rhys.” He whispered. Just as he was about to reach the orb he was pounced from behind, knocking him forward. Rhys flew from his arms tumbling within the light of protection. Navik scrambled to his back, his staff held up. The beast chomped down aggressively on the staff causing it to crunch beneath the pressure of the strong jaws.
Rhys staggered to her feet, her vision still blurry. She pulled her dagger from her hip and rushed forward, limping greatly, blood gushed from the wound in her thigh. She nearly fell on top of the beast as she sliced into its chest. She tumbled to the side with the Viper-Fang, it pinned her down and just as it was about to clamp down on her neck and end everything she shoved her dagger in through its mouth. The beast fell limp and she pushed it to the side weakly as she pulled her dagger from the skull.
Navik came to her side and lifted her, “You’re insane.” He whispered, “Thank you, Rhys.” He pulled her into the protection orb and fell onto his back. Rhys lay over his abdomen. “Asuna…” Navik spoke and looked over to her, “Are you with us?” He reached over and placed his hand on her, he rested his other hand on Rhys’ back and slowly the green glow came from his palms and engulfed the two. Navik stayed like this for a long while until the glow dissipated from his palms. He lay there and stared up at the night sky, his eyes tired. Rhys lay on him, her arm thrown across his body, her body limp.

“No – Navik” she managed to mutter just as he ran away from her. Her vision was blurry and her entire world was spinning. She felt an incredible high that was sickening more than anything. She leaned down and gripped her thigh which gushed blood from the deep fang bites. Blood oozed between her fingertips and leaked into the soil, creating a crimson red mud beneath her. “No…” she whispered. Her eyes glazed over and she glanced upward – a vision appearing around her.
A men knelt down next to her – he was smiling. “I’m sorry sweet heart…” he spoke and reached forward – touching her cheek. His palm was warm and sent tingles down her entire body. “This may be the last time I see you” he spoke again. Asuna shook her head “Don’t do this to me” she whispered.
“You may not understand it today, or even tomorrow… but one day you will learn that I am not what they say I am”
“Of course you aren’t” her eyes swelled with tears and she felt this gut wrenching pain. She gripped the dirt, trying to drag herself closer to him.
Slowly he stood and then smiled again. “But know that I love you… and..”
Someone stepped up behind him and cleared his throat. “It is time to go” he spoke. “Good bye my princess” he spoke, looking over his shoulder to her.
“No” she spoke and then rolled over in pain, she gripped her leg harder and then opened her eyes again. She saw him then. Kneeling down on the grown – an axe to his neck. She grit her teeth and screamed out – just as the axe came down she was lifted into the air. The vision stopped and Asuna cried out in pain and sadness.
Just then she was healed, and she lay on the ground – the image replaying over and over in her head. “I’ll kill him” she whispered and then stood up. Her entire body was glowing red – her rage was filling her. She leaned down and grasped Rhys, looking over to Navik. She carried Rhys easily, her red eco assisting her, “Let’s get into town… get to an inn” she spoke and then following Navik…

A rounded rock skipped across the murky waters of the slums, one, two, three, skips and then it sank into the mud and sludge. Rhys sat on the edge of the dock, her feet dangling from the ledge toward the dirty water. She had a pile of rocks that sat next to her, she’d gathered up the rocks through the week and now here she sat.
A rock suddenly skipped over the water 10 times at least. Rhys looked up with awe in her expression. “You have to get just the right angle.” Thalis spoke, his voice wise. “Just the right speed.” He sat down next to her on the dock and handed her another rock. “Try to skate it across the water’s surface, imagine it almost floating as it hits the water. Go on.”
Rhys took the rock into her small grungy hands. She had dirty white cloth wrapped around her palms, her clothes were too big for her, and tattered. She had a smudge of soot that ran across her forehead. She gave a slight nod and stood. She bit her lip slightly and focused for a moment before she threw the rock. With ease it skipped across the water, reaching almost as far as Thalis had thrown his rock. A grin split her lips and she giggled happily. “That was amazing!” She exclaimed.
“Indeed it was.” Thalis watched as she sat back down on the dock next to him and kicked her feet. “Why are you out here all alone?” He asked.
Rhys took in a small breath, she was about 4 years old at this point. Very young. “I don’t have a family…” She spoke softly. “I can’t remember where they are.” She looked up to him with her ocean blue eyes.
Thalis watched her for a moment, his eyes sad. “You, young one shouldn’t be alone.” He spoke. “There is something special about you.” He placed his hand on her shoulder, before he tipped up her chin and looked into her eyes. In that moment he saw a spark of something, a blue spark of light from within her eyes. “Come on then.” He stood and held his hand out. “How about you come with me back to the orphanage hm?”
Rhys hesitated, “They’ll make me go back to the mines…” She spoke softly, she’d snuck out of the mines. It was the labor that the Baron gave to the orphans. Hard strenuous work. But they were orphans right? No one cared if they died. At least, that was the view the Baron had on it.
Thalis gave a warm smile to her and knelt in front of her, looking into her eyes. “What’s your name?” He asked his voice calm, his green eyes looked her over again.
“Rhys Livian….” She watched him with worried eyes. “Please don’t tell them I snuck out again…” She whispered.
“No, no, don’t worry, Rhys.” Thalis spoke and pulled her gently into a hug. “You’re not going back there again, hm?” He took a step back. “My name is Thalis, I am the green sage.” He smiled to her for a moment. “I’m going to take you into my home, I’ll adopt you. I can’t watch you wither away…there’s something about you.” He nodded again.
Rhys looked up to him and carefully to his hand, her eyes still filled with fear. “Promise?” She asked, her voice soft. She had cuts and scrapes along her arms, the cloth around her hands covered up cuts from mining. What they did to the children back then, was horrible. Since then the city had petitioned to end the labor of the orphans, but before the petition passed the orphans were subject to all kinds of cruel labor.
Navik looked to Asuna his brows pulled together. “What did you see?” He asked as he looked to the red aura around her. He then shook his head. “Okay, I’ll lead.” He took off toward the north, toward Titan. He held his staff, his eyes watched the forest that surrounded them. He took in a breath and jumped slightly at each rustle of a branch, ready to defend Rhys and Asuna. At one point a cougar leaped out in their path and lunged toward him. Navik struck it down in a single blow, breaking its back. He turned to Asuna and caught her eye before he kept moving. Navik rushed along quickly and after nearly an hour of running Titan came into view when they crested a hill. Navik slowed and looked back in the distance, he couldn’t see the temple anymore, they’d traveled a long distance. “The entrance is this way.” He spoke as he led Asuna down into a ravine that a river rushed through. They pressed on for a while longer, Navik looked up at the high stone walls of the gorge in awe. It had been a long time since he’d come here.
“Halt!” The sound of a gun cocking echoed against the stone. “Don’t move!”
Navik paused and raised his hands. He looked to the soldier that was clad in green cloth with silver armor plating. Four more guards came forward all with guns. Navik glanced to Asuna and then to Rhys whom was still unconscious. He furrowed his brows, how much venom had the Viper-Fangs gotten into her? Was he not strong enough to heal the effects of the venom? He looked back forward as the guards approached him and looked him over, patting him up and down.
One of the guards looked to Rhys, he paused for a long moment before he looked up to Asuna. “Clear.” He spoke. “State your purpose.”
Navik took in a breath, “We are headed to Strasbourg. We need a safe place to stay, to gather supplies. We were attacked by Venom-Fangs. I’m not sure I was able to get all of the venom out of my friend here. We need help. I am the son of Thalis.” He spoke and bowed his head.
The man guard tilted his head slightly, watching Navik closely. “The son of the green sage huh?” He asked and then gave a nod. “Very well.” He gave a nod to his men. “My men will show you to the inn.”
Navik let out a long breath and lowered his arms. “Thank you.” He gave a nod and followed the soldiers before him. Two soldiers in front, two in the rear. They were boxed in. They walked through a series of hallways before ascending stairs into the heart of the city. It was huge. Even at this hour people ran about in the streets, buying goods and making food. The city didn’t sleep. It was a main hub for supplies for the outlying smaller towns. They were led into an inn and given a key. Navik gave the front counter a few golden coins before they were shown to their room. “Thank you.” He spoke to the soldiers as they disbursed, though one stayed outside of their door. Titan was weary of strangers it seemed. Navik glanced to Asuna and then to Rhys. “Is it the venom?” He asked. “Do you still feel ill? Do we just wait it out?” He asked, his brows furrowed. “I’ve not dealt with a bit from a Viper-Fang before, I didn’t realize it could cause so much damage…”
Rhys’ brows furrowed in her sleep and her fists clenched.
The Baron stood outside the glass, the five test subjects were all spaced evenly apart in a room together, set for another injection. This was three months in. “Go on with it, Dr. Huge.” The Baron spoke. Two of the five were incredibly ill looking, their skin was pale, they had lost a great deal of weight.
Rhys fought against her restraints. “You’re going to kill us!” She cried, “Stop this!” She pulled hard against the metal cuffs that held her in place.
“Sedate her.” The Baron ordered. Dr. Huge stepped forward and injected a clear liquid into her line. Almost instantly Rhys began to feel dizzy, the world felt heavy. She couldn’t move. She could only watch. The Baron stepped into the room as Dr. Huge stepped over to the first subject and prepared the injection. He watched as the purple fluid pushed into the veins of the young woman. Her body arched and she began to scream in agony. Then, the machines began to beep uncontrollably. Dr. Huge began to rush around, fear in his eyes. Blood began to come out of the woman’s ears and nose. She began choking on her own blood. “Do something!” The Baron ordered, his voice angry. “You told me they would all be fine!”
“I didn’t promise anything!” Dr. Huge spoke as he injected something, then suddenly the woman ceased all movement…
The Baron snarled and kicked over a box of supplies. “How are we ever supposed to gain results from this project if you keep killing off our subjects?!” He snapped. “Next, Dr. Huge.”
The doctor trembled as he stepped to the next subject and injected the fluids. He watched as the man convulsed and then as the electricity shocked him to set the injection in. After about ten minutes the machines stopped humming and the man lay unconscious, though alive. This continued the next subject survived as well and then the one next to Rhys fell to death. The Baron looked to Rhys, anger in his eyes. “Double it up.” He spoke his voice full of hate. “If she’s going to die, I want her to feel it coming.” He chuckled.
The doctor took in a slow breath, “Baron, this could kill her.”
“Or make her stronger, right? She has the best results of all of the subjects.” The Baron smirked. “Huh 535. How are you feeling in there?” He pat her cheek. “Have a fun ride.” He reached over and clicked the keys.
Dr. Huge’s eyes widened. “Baron! What have you done?!” The machines whirred and the doctor stepped back.
The electricity began to shock Rhys and then the injection pumped in, the amount of 4 doses of dark eco. Rhys screamed each time the dose was pushed in as it burned through her system. Her body thrashed against the bonds, a sickening snapping sound came from her arm as her bones shattered from her violent movements. This was the first of many high dose injections that the Baron decided to give Rhys. Each time she survived. Somehow. The others barely stayed breathing after one dose. But Rhys, the Baron had given her up to 6 doses at a time at one point, pushing her limits, trying to get her on the edge of death. Yet, she still refused to fall unconscious, she refused to weaken…

Asuna shuffled to the side as the beast came flying claws first into the air. She watched as Navik easily sundered the creature to its death… it was quick and painless. She nodded and then hurried along – sooner or later she would deplete her crystal and have to wait for it to recharge…
Asuna winced when she heard the cocking of guns – but thankfully Navik spoke quickly, and precisely. She was beginning to become exhausted, it was perfect timing they had come to the city then. “In the olden days Shamans would bait the Viper Fangs and purposely get bit to ‘become one with the beast’. It is just a toxic high that enough of it can fry your mind. She was bit twice… Those with Eco generally react differently than normal humans. You slip into your past, haunted by your memories… each person experiences it differently. Will she die? No… but we will have to wait it out. Her muscles will stiffen, she may be a little loopy when she wakes up… she had a much higher dosage than me. I was bit by just a pup, my eco metabolized and with your aid… I was able to emerge from it swiftly.” She looked to him and smiled weakly. “thank you for that… for now… we just have to make her comfortable”
Asuna sat her down on the bed, there were only 2 in the room. “I’m going to order us some food… a wet rag on her forehead might help” she spoke and then nodded. She stepped from the room and back into the inn’s main entrance. She stopped before the woman behind a desk and smiled. The woman glanced up and then nodded “How can I help?”
“I wanted to place an order for some food – “
The woman handed her a piece of paper with selections on it. “Just circle what you’d like, much easier that way” she nodded and handed a ink pen over. Asuna looked over the menu and selected a bit of food. Home-made Spicy Green Chili in bread bowls and a veggie plate… She handed the paper back and set down a few gold coins. To which the woman nodded “Excellent choice… we will deliver it shortly. Thank you”
Asuna made her way back up to the room and then sat down in on the chairs. She gave a long sigh and then groaned slightly. “I haven’t slept in 2 days…” she muttered, her eye lids grew heavy. She leaned her head back and swiftly fell asleep…
Asuna stood in the center of a brightly lit room. She glanced over and saw 2 tables, to which a woman laid on. She was skinny, and sickly looking. Slowly Asuna stepped over and glanced to her – she gasped then. Rhys. She looked around frantically – there was a table across the room that had several devices and machines wirring away on it.
She then heard foot steps, talking, she rushed over to leave… but the door opened. A man walked in and looked directly at Asuna… and then away. As if he didn’t see her. He moved over Rhys and then took some notes. “The subject finally has responded to the 10th injection. Rendering her unconscious. Vitals… okay, elevated heart rate, blood pressure rising with my presence. She seems to be aware of her surroundings, even when knocked out…” he then pulled out a needle and pressed it into her arm. “Injecting a synthetic energizer…. Lets wake her up.. shall we?”
Asuna grit her teeth and lunged forward. She went to push this man away - but her hands fell through. “Whats going on?!” She shouted and looked around. This was a lab. This was Rhys on the table. Why was she seeing this? This was not something from her memories. This was new…

The doctor injected the yellow liquid into Rhys and took a step back. It only took a few moments for Rhys’ eyes to open. She pulled against the straps that held her down and let out a cry of pain. Tears ran down her cheeks. The doctor then stepped over to her and poked and prodded a bit. “I’ll see you in a few hours, 535.” He spoke before he left the room.
Rhys fought the metal bonds that held her down, she let out a cry as her body tensed. The amount of injections the Baron was forcing the doctor to give her was incredible. All of the other subjects were dead by this point. The Baron was pushing her as far as he could. Rhys convulsed slightly and grit her teeth. Her eyes fluttered for a moment and then she caught a glimpse of Asuna. “No…” She whispered. “No you can’t…b-be here…” She choked out, blood ran from her nose. “They…they will hurt you…” She took in a sharp inhale from the pain that racked her body. “G-Get out of here….p-please…” Rhys’ head slammed back as her body tensed and thrashed again. Her eyes turned deep black, her canines lengthened as she screamed in pain, her claws showed and her skin turned the pale purple color. The mental bonds on the table groaned against her strength.
Navik sat at the window his eyes fluttered as he over looked the city. He yawned and leaned back, the room had a nice nook for the window that had a nice pad and a few pillows, it could easily function as a third bed. He fought off his slumber as long as he could until he finally slipped into a deep sleep. It wasn’t but a few moments later that he jolted awake to the sound of a heavy knock at the door from room service.
Navik stood and nearly fell over as he ran forward and opened the door. The woman looked up to him and offered him the plate. “Th-thanks.” He gave a smile and took the platter. He set it down on the coffee table and looked over to Rhys and then to Asuna. He kept the metal covers over the food, he didn’t want to wake Asuna as she looked as though she was in a deep slumber.

Asuna reached over to the straps of the bed, trying to undo them. Her fingers slipped through Rhys’ body. “It’s going to be okay” she called out. She kept trying.. only to fail. “You’re going to get through this” she spoke and then reached for her crystal. Her entire body powered up and she slammed her hands onto Rhys’s chest. Suddenly the bounds came lose and Asuna looked to Rhys. “Lets go!” she shouted.
Asuna dashed for the door and stepped into what would be the hallway. She stopped though – the room was pitch black. There was something glowing in the distance. “Rhys” she called to her. She slowly lead Rhys into the darkness, walking across the pitch black floor. Before then was an all white being, in the figure of a human.
“Who are you?”
The being stood there, no response. “Rhys.. are you there? We are dreaming – you are here, we are here. You can take control of this…” she spoke and then turned to the being.
“This is more than just a dream, little red one” the being spoke…

Rhys cried as Asuna tried to release her and then suddenly all of the pain melted away as Asuna slammed her hands upon her chest. She was able to get up. Her breathing hurt. She felt as though she was being suffocated. “It’s so dark…” Rhys whispered, her body trembled. She gripped onto Asuna as she led her forward toward the bright light. She stared up at the being that floated a bit above the ground.
From the light the being stepped forward. He was of an athletic build. He wore beautiful armor that was bronze and held the same insignia that her armor held. He had a well kept beard of dark brown hair that ran along his jawline and his ears were long and pointy just like hers. His eyes even had the same blue. “Rhys.” His voice spoke as he stepped forward. He placed his hand on her shoulder. “You were a young tike when I was forced to leave you to the humans.” He looked to Asuna, “It is very rare to see someone hold and wield the power of the precursors as easily as you do, red eco is a hard substance to master.” The man then turned his attention back to Rhys and the darkness around them faded away. The world that they stood in was an open meadow. The sky was as blue as could be with only a few wispy clouds about. Tall mountains stood in the distance. “The precursors had already gone into hiding, before you were born, long before. Though, the prophecy said that I must have a child to revive us, to free us. So, I stayed above ground, I hid in with the humans and blended the best I could.” The man looked around as a village formed around them, “Anika, it’s a small mountain town, to the west, perhaps you’ve heard of it?” He asked with a smile. “That, is where you were born.” He pushed the door open to a small home. A woman held a young baby in her arms, wrapped in a soft blanket. The man stood by the woman’s side and kissed her forehead.
“You…” Rhys furrowed her brows.
The man turned and looked to her, a smile on his lips. “I am Mar.” He spoke the world around them dissipated and the shadows returned. “The dark beings are coming, Rhys. You must free the precursors from our slumber. It is the only hope.” He spoke before the dream vanished.
Rhys sat up quickly, her eyes wide. “Where did…” She looked around the room and jumped up.
Navik rushed to her and gently wrapped an arm around her. “Woah there, slow down.” He sat her back down on the bed. “Deep breaths, you are recovering from a hefty dose of Viper-Fang venom.” He offered her up a bowl of chili. “Eat this, you’ll feel better soon. I’m going to go gather us some supplies from the market, I’ll be back, alright?” He gave a gentle smile.
Rhys looked to Asuna, her eyes heavy, “Did you?” She asked. “Was that real? Am I hallucinating?” She questioned she sipped on her chili and took a few spoons of it. “I’m not crazy am I?” She asked softly. “Am I….” She looked down to the chili. It was a hard thing to take in, she was the daughter of one of the strongest precursors known to man. He was a god in all of the story books. Mar the great precursor that saved humanity. Rhys…was his daughter…
