Rey looked to Eliza and nodded her head – as she sat back at the defense table. Rey looked to Peter and stood before him for a long moment – he sat quietly, staring to her.
“Peter….” Rey turned her gaze out and she took in a deep breath. “Can you tell me how many guards are to have eyes on the King, at all times?” she questioned aloud.
Peter took in a deep breath and nodded “4 at a minimum, each should be covering the North… South, east and west…” he bit his tongue slightly.
“And in public affairs, what is the typical amount of guards to stand?” She questioned further.
“8, to cover every angle…” he sighed.
“Can you tell me where you were, the second in command – your place should have been by the King, should it not?” She questioned “and why the King was guarded by only one, to which you and the other 7 guards seem to arrive just after the murder? –“
“Objection – “ before the sentence could be completed – the judge held his hand up, dismissing it.
“Over ruled, please continue” The Judge spoke and nodded to Rey.
Peter shifted uncomfortably and lowered his head “We were instructed to arrive at a certain time, which unknown to us was 15 minutes too late.” He spoke aloud.
“And… who instructed you to do this, was it Eliza – the head of the guard?” she questioned.
“No…” Peter spoke softly.
“Who then?” she questioned aloud. The Jury was leaning forward at this point – curious of the answer.
Peter shifted slightly and cleared his throat “A um…” he thought for a moment “A servant..”
Rey shook her head “And for once you listened to a servant? Deliver a different time than expected? Of all things regarding the King himself?” she shook her head… “I have no further questions for you, Peter…” she nodded her head.
The Jury sat back in their seat, some looking quite pissed – directly at Peter as he stood.
“I would like to call Kelvin Richards to the Stand...” she called forward. A servant stood then and slowly walked to stand.
“Kelvin, please tell the jury your occupation” she nodded.
“I am a servant to the King, I specifically handle armor and clothing…” he spoke and nodded.
“Kelvin… you just recently left the Kingdom, did you not, can you tell us why?” she questioned.
“I um… I purchased an estate in Southern Grainbough… I was moving my wife and children there…” he spoke timidly.
“And… how did you come about the money to do that?” she questioned.
“I was payed handsomely to run errands…” he swallowed a bit.
“Could you detail what sort of errands, for us?” she questioned.
“I was payed… to tip off the guards to arrive late… to deliver a bottle of unknown juice to the kitchen staff, to delivery many letters, and to purchase cigars for the family….” He cleared his throat.
“Cigars such as this one?” she lifted the cigar. “Who smoked these?”
“Our current King…”
“And was he the one to pa-“ Eliza suddenly leaped back – from the window above – glass shattered. An arrow came blazing through and it pierced the servant directly in the head, killing him instantly.
Eliza held her hands up and suddenly around everyone a huge bubble appeared – a magic bubble of protection, no one could enter, no one could leave either. “I think that sums up this session…” he spoke with her teeth grit. “My friends – Eliza was not aware of any of the changes, the guards were tipped off, fake poison was planted in her goods – a cigar that belongs to the current King found in a spying chamber in within the room, all Evidence I have found suggests that Eliza had no knowledge of the occurrence…” she shifted her head up and suddenly the room was peeled off.
A dragon swept down and clawed at the bubble, though his claw was deflected and he roared out. His huge mouth opened, giant teeth bearing down – and fire burst forward, but it could not pierce the protection.
Eliza grit her teeth, her hand still I the air. “This attack proves it – someone is trying to keep us from shedding light on the truth!” he nose was beginning to bleed. With all her might she held up another hand and a portal appeared. “Everyone must enter, we must escape to safety! This portal leads to Ladenport – just south!” she grit her teeth and cried out. “The Princess has not been found…” she grit her teeth. “Go!” she shouted.
The jury stood and the people began rushing into the portal. “Eliza – go” she pointed to the portal. Just as Eliza entered – she leaped through and suddenly the entire room became swarmed in flames…

As Peter took the stand Eliza watched her eyes searched his. He looked like a cornered prey, his eyes seemed to search for an escape. He was backed into a corner with no where to go. Eliza glanced to the jury as the members leaned forward in anticipation, in awe. Though a few sat back, arms crossed. Of course the king would have members on the jury that he’d paid off to deem Eliza as guilty. She lowered her eyes to the thick metal shackles upon her wrists and she sighed softly as she listened to Peter speak. When Rey called a servant to the stand Eliza’s eyes lifted once more. She watched him curiously, she saw him on that day, earlier in the morning. He had shifty eyes and a nervousness about him on that day. She remembered watching him as she passed with the king and the prince down the hallway toward the dining room...
The events began to happen quickly after that. The sound of the arrow piercing through the servant’s skull seemed to reverberate through the room. Eliza gasped her eyes widened as the roof was worn from the building. She shot to her feet, the guard gripped her arm tightly, though as he looked up to the dragon his grip loosened. Eliza looked over the huge beast as it attacked the bubble, she’d never seen a dragon in real life, she’d heard of the dragons from ages ago. The wars of the dragons. Even riders....mages that were attached to the dragons by their souls. Something that didn’t exist anymore. Most of the riders were killed off in the wars of the past. Hunted and murdered. Those with power didn’t wish to allow such a power to those beneath them, and thus most of the mages that were attached to the dragons disappeared.
Eliza was bumped by a citizen whom rushed forward into the portal. Her eyes fell on Rey then, the blood that trickled from her nostrils. She raised her brows slightly as she looked to the portal then she slowly gave a nod. She rushed forward. The air was forced from her lungs as she passed through, her body felt compressed. She gasped once on the other side and she was shoved forward harshly.
“This woman knows of everything that has been going on in our city!” A man snapped harshly. “She is the reason that demon was brought upon us!!!” He called out, his voice angry. “A dragon!” He laughed, “A dragon hasn’t been seen in ages! This witch has brought it upon us! Our entire city will be plagued with mishaps until we end her!” He gripped Eliza by her throat.
Eliza fought against him, the shackles held her wrists tightly. She stumbled back from his grip. “No...I didn’t do any of this.” She spoke, her voice soft.
“Ah the lies of a witch.” The man chuckled. “The others will see through you soon enough.” He drew his blade.
“Eliza!” Gerald called and rushed forward. He bounced back off of a barrier that surrounded Eliza and the man.
The man looked to him and chuckled a smile remained on his lips. “This man. Of all that are guilty it is him, he helped raise this demon!” He turned to Eliza as he drew his sword. “Don’t worry, I’ll make it quick.” He spoke and chuckled.
Eliza dodged as he swung at her. “Stop!” She cried. She dodged again. “You have to listen to me.” She ducked. Eliza stumbled back and held her hands up just in time for the sword to catch the chain between the shackles. It sliced through the metal like a hot knife through butter. Eliza bounced off of the invisible barrier that surrounded them. Eliza tumbled out of the way from another blow. She rushed forward and wrapped her arms around his waist, tackling him to the ground. The sword clattered upon the cobblestone as the two tumbled about. The man pinned Eliza to her back harshly.
“Do something!!!” Mary cried her hand gripped tightly onto Gerald’s. “Rey...please do something!” She begged her eyes welled with tears.
Eliza struggled against the man and pulled a dagger from his robes. She sliced into his arm, blood splattered upon the ground. He grit his teeth and jumped back gripping onto his arm. Eliza scrambled to her feet she rushed forward and stabbed at him, only for the man to disappear. She stumbled and fell to her hands and knees. The man appeared and lifted his sword. Eliza spun just as he stabbed forward. The blade felt like fire as it pierced into her, just above her floating rib into her chest cavity. The dagger fell from her grip as she stared to the man. Her jaw loosened. “You...” She breathed, the shape of his jaw...the material of his robes.
“Ah, you finally see.” He grinned, “Too bad you won’t live much longer.” He whispered into her ear as he twisted the blade. He took a step back and raised his hood. This man was the hooded man that stole the princess away. Another puppet of the king. He suddenly disappeared into a black smoke.
Eliza fell to her knees, her hands gripped over the wound as blood gushed from it. The barrier lowered and Gerald rushed forward. “Eliza!” He skidded in front of her, his hand instantly cupped over her bloody hand. “Eliza, breathe.” He looked into her eyes. “Breathe.”
Eliza’s ocean blue eyes looked to Gerald, “Liane...” She whispered, “That man...has Liane...” Her eyes fluttered slightly. “We...have to...”
“Shh.” Gerald pulled her into his arms. “Don’t waste your energy.” He rushed through the crowd of onlookers.
“Who was that man?” One of the jury members questioned. “Is he speaking the truth? Did she bring this hell upon us?”
Mary stopped in her tracks. “That man is full of lies, he’s yet another paid by Victor to keep the lies afloat. Do you see what he did to Eliza? She’s the only one who knows the truth...the only one who could possibly find our princess!” She rushed after her husband.
Gerald barged into the city medic. “Help!” He cried.
Eliza was fighting to breathe as blood bubbled into her lungs. “Ger...ald...” She choked out. “Find...Liane...you must....find her...” She grit her teeth.
Gerald looked up as a young woman came from the back. “Oh my...” She spoke as she rushed forward to Eliza’s side. “Come, come.” She ushered Gerald to the back of the clinic. She pointed to a metal table as she gathered her supplies. She cut Eliza’s shirt away from the wound, her brows drew together as she worked to repair the bleeding.
Eliza choked as she lay on her back, blood leaked from her mouth. “Turn her on her side.” The woman ordered as she grabbed a few more supplies. Gerald tilted Eliza carefully, her breathing was a loud wheeze that was becoming slower by the minute. Eliza’s hand gripped onto Gerald’s arm, though as time passed her grip began to loosen as blood pooled around her on the bed. Her eyes fluttered and slipped shut as she lost consciousness.
**
“Eliza.” A voice spoke. It was smooth like a crystal. “Eliza wake up.”
Eliza’s eyes cracked open. A bright light nearly blinded her as she shielded her eyes. She slowly as up and looked around. She was in a bright white room that seemed to have no edges, no distinctive markings. “Who...” She turned to see a woman standing before her.
“There you are.” The woman gave a gentle smile. She held familiar features. The same eye color as Eliza...the high cheekbones...the tasseled locks of hair...the woman was wearing a set of armor unlike anything she had ever seen. It was beautifully crafted, a chest piece that held a crest with a dragon upon it that glistened in the bright light of the room. A teal cloak hung over her shoulder and ran down her back. She wore knee high boots with plating upon the boots to protect her. “I’ve been waiting for you to come.” The woman spoke as she stepped away. “Come, Eliza.”
“Who...are you?” Eliza questioned as she followed the woman.
“I am your mother, dear.” The woman spoke without missing a second. She glanced to Eliza. “We had to send you away, to protect you, your father and I.” She sighed softly. “Though it seems with the passing of the king your protection has passed as well.”
“To protect me?” Eliza questioned, confusion in her voice.
“Yes, hm...” The woman turned to her and took her hands into hers. “Our kind has needed protection since we came to exist dear.”
“Our kind....?” Eliza scrunched her brows. She looked down to her clothing, soaked in blood. Though she couldn’t feel the pain anymore. She wasn’t bleeding. “Am I dead?” She questioned.
The woman smiled and chuckled. “You’ve much to learn about life and death, it means something different to us.” She stepped forward. “You must travel to the great mountains of the east. You’ll find a cavern there, the travel will be dangerous, but a friend will guide you. He will protect you. We will help you find the princess and protect her from that corrupted king.”
“A friend...the mountains? What are you talking about?”
The woman pressed her hand to Eliza’s chest. A bright white light emitted from her hand. “When you come, I will show you.” She spoke a soft smile on her lips.
Eliza felt a surge of power coursing through her body then, she took in quick breaths, her eyes began to glow white as she stared to the woman. “Wait!” She cried as her vision faded.
**
Eliza shot up with a gasp, her eyes glowing bright white. She stumbled and fell from the steel table. She staggered, her chest heaved.
“Eliza...” Gerald stared, his jaw slack. Tears still glistened on his cheeks. “How...” He breathed as he stared to her.
Eliza blinked a few times as she stared to him. “Can you tell me of my mother Gerald?” She questioned, her eyes still glowed brightly. Runes scaled up her arms, ancient runes that had nearly faded from the existence of this world.
Gerald shook his head. “Your father never spoke of her...she died when you were young...that’s all he ever told me....Eliza...you were dead...we watched you die...”
Eliza turned, her eyes fell upon Rey. “What...is happening?” She questioned. She looked to the runes upon her arms. “What...is this?” She asked. “What is in the mountains of the east?”

Rey stumbled through the portal and fell to the ground, she slowly rose her head to see the crowd surrounding Eliza. She felt a grip on her shoulder and she was yanked upwards, though Rey did not fight the grip - she was weak and in pain from the spell she has cast.
“You set this all up!” A man shouted. “Such a unlikely event for you to suddenly arrive in this city, easily uncover false truths, and rescue the crowd from a dragon of all things? How do you expect us to believe this?!” He shouted in her face, a goblet of spit flung from his lips and landed upon her cheek.
Rey slowly reached up and wiped it away “I could have easily let you die - if that is what you wish” she grit her teeth and pushed him back with one hand. In the midst of the commotion - she glimpsed to Eliza, who dodging the blade of her attacker.
Rey pushed past her attacker and she stumbled to Eliza - though not in time. The blade crushed into her, a gushing of blood splashing over the man. “No-” Rey swiftly rushed forward and went to grab the man - but he was gone, only black ash lingered on her palm. “You bastard!” She shouted, she turned then and the man who was yelling at her - was gone too.
“Do not listen to them! They are gone in an ashen smoke, corrupt and evil dark magic. Someone is behind all of this, it could be your king, or maybe even your king is being used by some other force... But whoever it is - has the Princess, and put you all in danger, your castle now in shambles...” She spoke to the jury, who stood watching them...
“Find urself safe, and hopefully you will rise when the need comes - and speak forth on behalf of Eliza... assuming she doesn't die...” She knelt down by Gerald, who held her in his arms. She followed him as they swiftly rushed through the city, into the clinic - the door shutting behind them.
Rey held her hands out and channeled magic forward into Eliza - everything she had, and anything she had. She did not have the power to cure and heal, but she could offer Eliza her spirit, and strength, something to keep her will fighting - give her body a moment to catch up. At times magic like this would keep the soul from slipping from the body, even when the body is long dead. Though, she wasn't sure how effective it would be, but she had to try anything she could...
A doctor came rushing inward, she ripped open Eliza’s clothes and observed the wound. “This is not good” she felt for a pulse. “It’s barely there... barely...” She fumbled for a needle, and a bottle - she insert it easily into Eliza’s arm and pushed. “Come on-” the doctor whispered and felt for a pulse again. “No- no - no” the doctor whispered frantically.
Suddenly Eliza shot upward swiftly, the doctor gasped loudly and nearly fell over, she reached out and gripped a card and breathed heavily. Rey lowered her hands - her eyes watching Eliza closely. Her mouth dropped and she stared deeply to the woman - the runes all along her body.
Rey instantly dropped to one knee and lowered her head. “I had no idea...” She whispered and shut her eyes. “I knew.. something was there...” She whispered as she bowed deeply. She stood then and held her hand out “The essence within is woken” she held her hand out, helping Eliza from the bed. “In ancient times - people of your kind went through a very gruesome ritual, of which most did not survive... though if you did, it would be as you are now...” She pointed to the glowing runes.
Rey held her hand up and a portal appeared “Come” she stepped inside. It was a huge dark room. “This is the void, a room of nothingness, in between realms. A place of silence - so I can show you this...” She pulled an orb from her endless bag and held it up.
The glass orb float in the air and then it suddenly lit up - all around them a projected world appeared. They stood on a glassy surface... Below their feet was huge city, they seem to be standing over it, as if floating through the sky. Built into the sides of a huge canyon were beautiful elven architectures, twisting buildings that jut upwards, suspended bridges and buildings from the sides, flowing curves and sharp edges.
Flying through the center of the canyon was several dragons, going different directions - each of different size and color, glorious and beautiful as can be. On the back of each dragon was a rider. “Nathair - The home of the Dragon Riders...” She tilted her head “this land can only be accessed by those with the Divine Bloodline, as you are considered... a Divine.” She turned her gaze to her.
The world continued to move slowly as their vision traveled through the city, people walked along the suspended streets that weaved about... Dragons came flying by, one even came extremely close - so much that she could see the detail of the gaping mouth and sharp teeth. “I did find It odd a Dragon attacked us... something tells me there is more to this story than we think. Learning that you are a Divine makes a lot of sense...” She took in a sharp breath.
“Whoever has the Princess - I think is linked to your roots....” She nodded. “Each dragon in the world is linked to a Divine, and the Divine linked to it. It is possible there has been a lonely dragon, waiting for you to return to him...” She watched as another dragon passed by. “I have never had the pleasure of meeting a Divine, they are few and far in between, hunted and killed for sport, most fear the power they harness... but no one knows the status of Nathair, for all we know - it could be a secret bustling world, isolated from the rest intentionally...”
“Something woke your runes, you were dead before us... What happened?” She questioned, just as she did the world faded, and they returned to their realm. They stood outside - the blue sky above them, and people bustling down the road...

Eliza scrunched her brows together as Rey bowed before her. “You...don’t have to do...that...I...” She took in a breath, her expression was covered in confusion. “My kind...” She spoke, her mother had spoken about their kind, how she was different. She looked to Rey’s hand for a moment before she took it and stepped into the portal with her. She looked up and glanced around slightly taking in the nothingness that was the void. She then watched as the world transformed around them.
Eliza looked over the beautiful city that was sculpted into the side of the canyon. Her eyes followed the curves of the buildings and then her eyes fell upon the wings of the dragons that flew through the city. Eliza looked to Rey, “A Divine...?” She asked and took in a breath. Eliza took a step back as a dragon flew dangerously close to them, her heart sped as she took in a gasp of air. “Hunted...” She spoke and drew her brows together again. Everything was coming at her so quickly. She looked down to her arms, the runes had faded away, her eyes returned to the beautiful blue color once more.
“I remember getting stabbed...” Eliza spoke she looked to Rey, “Gerald carried me...I heard Mary scream...” She took in a deep breath. “I woke in a white room...there were no doors...no markings, it was like the void, but rather than darkness it was full of a bright light. A woman approached me...she said she was my mother...” Eliza scrunched her brows again. “She said they had to send me away when I was young, to protect me, that the king was my protection...” Eliza glanced to Rey then. “She spoke of my father...but...somehow I don’t think she was speaking of the man I know as my father...”
Eliza glanced about to the busy city, “She said I must travel to the great mountains of the east...there will be a cavern...it will be dangerous, but a friend will guide me..” Eliza looked to Rey once more. “Do you think she means a dragon?” She shook her head, “Tell me more of the Divine, I’ve never heard of them...then again I am certain there are a lot of things I haven’t heard of, I’ve kept myself in the city my whole life, with the exception of a few wars....my sole purpose until now was to protect the king...”
Eliza crossed her arms, “Everything that I know, or thought that I knew...it was to protect me? From being hunted?” Eliza stepped back then and grit her teeth. Her pulse raced.
I have waited for you for years, Eliza. A voice spoke within her mind. It was deep and booming. It sounded old and wise. Now that you have been awakened you may find me. Do as your mother says, come to the cavern, I will guide you.
Eliza’s eyes glowed slightly as she took in deep breaths, after a few moments the glowing began to fade away. “I...think...my dragon just spoke to me...” She breathed. Her hand rest against the wall of the building. “Something that is much bigger than we realize is happening.” She nodded. “I think you’re right, there is more to this than we know. There is more to the kidnapping of the princess and the murder of my king and your prince....” Eliza watched Rey for a moment. “These great mountains...do you know where they are? My mother spoke of the east...but...” She shook her head. “I’m not familiar with the areas east of the divide.”
