Oh Gods...
Remi glanced around the room. The words sounded as if they were underwater.
Hey-Wake up
Remi trembled slightly her hazel eyes looked to the man that sat before her. A chuckle came over his lips. “I guess Delilah found you first.” He spoke as he stood and sipped his own tea. “You see, Archangel...” He set his mug down on the coffee table and glanced to the flickering flames. “Do you remember what we talked about?” He questioned.
Remi held her hand to her head, blood dripped more freely from her nose as she stared to him. “What we talked about?” She questioned, her expression filled with confusion. His features began to change. His eyes darkened to pits of black as he sat back in his chair across from her. The plush arm chair seemed to hug to his slender body as horns pushed from his skull, a grin appeared on his lips. A grin she recognized. Her breaths shook as she gazed into his eyes. “The end of the world...”
“Yes Remiael.” He spoke with a chuckle, “You must protect the Ambrosius bloodline. You must protect Delilah. She is the key to keeping the balance.” He tilted his head as he looked to her. “You’ve already exhibited such guardian like behavior, I’m sure the other Archangels will thank you.” He snickered then. “Maybe they will even welcome you back and gift your wings back to you, and your halo.”
Remi’s muscles felt frozen, she fought to breathe as she stared at him, Her teeth grit. “Shut up.” She growled out, her eyes darkened. “They will never take me back. Not after what you made me do!”
“I didn’t make you do anything, doll. I just simply nudged you in the right direction.” He leaned forward. “We are all angels, Remiael….it’s just I have a different job. But some of us. Some of the demons, well...they are corrupted. They are not here to provide order or balance. Especially not Tauren. He seeks to kill the Ambrosius girl. You’ll see.”
Remi choked on the metallic taste of blood in her mouth. She was gasping at this point, fighting to breath. It felt as though her lungs were filling with liquid, as though her chest was being crushed. “What….does she have to do with this…..? What’s….so….special…..?” Blood dripped over her lips. Speaking was incredibly painful.
“I can’t give everything to you, Archangel.” He smirked playfully as he leaned forward and cupped her cheek. Black lines ran over her skin from his touch. “Why don’t you find out for yourself?” He then slammed his palm into her chest.
Remi expected it to hurt. She expected to feel something. She felt the numb pressure against her chest just before her vision blacked out. She felt as though she was falling. Falling and tumbling through an expanse that delved deep into a black hole. Then suddenly her body hit the ground. Her back ached. It ached just the same as the day she woke after her wings had been cut from her back. Remi let out a whimper as her eyes fluttered open. The warmth of the fire kissed her cheeks. The calming snaps and crackles from the dry wood would offer solace to most. But not Remi. Her mind played over what happened. She remembered looking into Fin’s eyes as he tried to hold onto her, as he fought to keep her from falling into the raging ocean…
Remi took in a quick gasp as she sat up quickly. Pain. Pain coursed through her body. The black lines ran up her pale skin, her eyes looked sunken in, the beautiful hazel color was pale, even her beautiful strawberry blonde hair looked brittle and discolored. Summoning her wings...it wasn’t something a fallen angel should be able to do. She did it to survive, she did it because...it was the only way. The only way to do such a thing was by using Delilah...she had to leave Fin behind...the others...she had to leave everyone behind.
Remi’s eyes fell to the bodies upon the beach. “No...” A shaken word uttered over her lips. “No...no no...” She pushed herself up and fell to her knees. She fought to her feet again and rushed through the sugar soft white sand. She stumbled several more times, her body weak. She crawled through the sand to a body. “No….” Tears rolled over her pale cheeks. “Fin...” She whimpered, “Fin no...wake up...” She she rolled him onto his back. His skin was pale, a deep gash lined the side of his head, the ocean must have sucked him into a piece of the ship. It would have been a swift death. Remi hugged his limp cold body to her chest as she began to sob. The sort of sob that echoed over the quiet beach. The sort of sob that a lover gives when they have lost their love. She hugged him to her for a long time, rocking slightly. “Fin no...” She mumbled.
“You have to let him go.” A voice spoke. A small reaper sat before her, his gaunt form sat crosslegged next to her and Fin. “You have to let him go, angel, you know what happens if a soul is not reaped. Do you wish that upon him?”
Remi looked to the shadowy reaper. She closed her eyes a long moment. “How do you let go...when I didn’t give the proper goodbye…?” She fought to speak as she looked to the reaper.
He sat with his hands on his knees, a soft smile curved up his thin lips. He tilted his head and looked up to a figure that appeared next to him. “Why don’t you?” He asked, “Why don’t you say goodbye Archangel?”
Remi looked up her breath caught in her chest as she gazed to Fin whom sat next to the reaper. “Fin...” She choked out, she still clutched onto the body.
Fin reached forward and ran his thumb along her jawline and cheek. His touch was warm, calming. “You can’t save everyone, Remiael.” He gave a gentle smile. “You have to let me go.” He leaned forward then and pressed his lips to hers.
Remi lifted her hands releasing the cold body to the sand. She grasped her fingertips into his tunic. It felt real. It felt as though he was there. Then suddenly, the fabric between her fingers disappeared. The feeling of the warmth pressed against her lips was gone. She sat back the Reaper gave a soft smile before he disappeared into smoke. Remi reached down and pulled the silver necklace from around Fin’s neck. She looked to the swirling design, it was the other half of the necklace he’d gifted to her. The necklace she’d left behind on the ship all these years….the ship that resided in pieces on the floor of the ocean. Remi clipped it around her neck and ran her fingertips along it as she stared to the body before her. “Goodbye Fin...” She breathed as the ocean lapped against her knees. The tide coming in. By morning the bodies would be washed back out to sea once again.
Remi slowly stood, she stumbled and fell. A cry escaped over her lips. Though she didn’t give in as her body shivered. She made her way back to Delilah where she collapsed and lay next to the fire once again. Blood dripped from her nose as her eyes lulled shut…
**
It wasn’t until the warmth of the sun kissed Remi’s cheeks that she opened her eyes. She looked up to the beautiful blue sky and she took in a breath. Her muscles didn’t ache the same. Though her head still ached. She glanced to the sleeping body of Delilah. She slowly stood and glanced to the forest that they were butted up against. Remi tossed a log onto the fire to keep it going. She then stepped into the forest. She wandered for half an hour or so before she found a boar that was drinking from the stream that ran through the forest. Remi pulled her pistol from her thigh and looked to it. She bit her lip and cocked the hammer back, praying it would work. Her finger pulled back on the trigger and only a click sounded. A sigh came from her lips. Waterlogged. Remi pulled her dagger from her thigh and she rushed forward. She lobbed the dagger forward at the boar and grinned as it stuck into its side, slipping through the rubs and stabbing into the heart. She had good aim from all her years fighting with the humans without her magic. She had time to perfect her fighting skills.
Remi grabbed the boar by the hoof. She winced, her back ached. The wounds in her back would take time to heal. She hated to think back to the wounds before. How long she’d been in pain. How long it took to heal. Remi took the boar back to the beach and she worked out filets of meat from the creature before she stabbed a stick through it and she held it over the fire. She looked to the flickering flames and sighed softly. Her eyes glanced to Delilah as she noticed a bit of stirring. Remi was silent for a long time before she offered a soft smile. “Thank you for...bandaging me...um...” She held a stick of meat forward before she began munching on her own. The meat was crispy and crunched within her mouth.
Remi paused a moment, seeming to think. She then took another bite and chewed slowly. “I’ve no idea where we are. But...that isn’t what matters...” She stared into the dying fires as more rays of the sun peaked over the trees onto the shoreline. Remi glanced to the beach, the tide was high, the bodies gone. Washed away into a memory now. She looked out to the ocean, flat as can be. “You’re special, Delilah. Something about you is very special.” She spoke, though she didn’t sound excited, she didn’t sound eager to explore what was so special about Delilah. She only looked to her again, her eyes full of sadness, regret. “You wanted to know who I am.” She spoke, her eyes looked into the small flames and embers then. “I am an Archangel...or at least I was until I pissed off the Prophets by saving a city of humans...” She stopped speaking, her breaths shook. “The other Archangels cut my wings from my back...and broke my halo...and I became a fallen angel...exiled from the heavens...my only mission was from the prophet. I was to find the weapon that is to stop the end of the world.” She scoffed and shook her head. “I’ve been searching for over a thousand years...” She hugged her knees to her chest, fighting back tears. “I’ve seen countries rise and fall and I’ve been a guardian to the Ambrosius family since that fateful day that I saved an ancestor of yours…..” She shook her head then, “So...very plainly I’m your guardian angel, I’m just not….what your human books depict...sorry to disappoint...” Remi’s pale appearance made her look incredibly ill. As if any moment the sickness that overtook her body would overwhelm her. But, it was simply weakness from exerting herself in such a way...for summoning wings when she was never to have wings again...

Delilah stirred briefly as she had fallen asleep before the fire - exhausted by the chain of events. Since her leaving from the manor her life had already been twice as chaotic as it had ever been. The things she had already witnessed were the kind she would often read in books. Hiding away from her reality should would bury herself into a realm of fantasy and adventure, but some how she was now among the same category. Perhaps when she made it safe she would write her experiences out... maybe someone could tell her what was truly happening, and why? Her eyes cracked open slightly - the heavy cries of a familiar voice were wailing some odd feet away.
Delilah lifted her head briefly - looking over the broken figure that held a dead body. These were her friends, her family, she shared memories with them - and now they were all dead. What caused this all to happen, who is to blame for all of this? And why... was she alive? All questions that flowed through her mind - though she dare not disturb the mourning of the woman. Delilah rest her head back down on the warm sand and sucked in a long deep salty breath. A sort of dark looming pressure held her down but she couldn't imagine the pain to wake and find so many, that were so close, dead. To her they were just people - while she felt remorse and sadness, she did not quite feel pain...
Delilah drifted away into sleep once more - and didn't wake again until the smell of food lingered. The night had passed... the beaches were empty - as if the entire experience was just a dream washed away by the changing tides. It looked fresh and even beautiful. The sands were fine and bright white - the sea was crystal blue and amazingly clear... Everything seemed calm, and gentle even... Delilah held a hand to her head - she wished it was all a dream....
"Thank you..." Delilah accepted the rough stick - which was slightly burnt, but a perfect slice of meat rest on the end, cooked well. She held it in her hand and then took a bite - she was quiet as she chewed. Never in a hundred years would she ever think she would eat in such a barbaric way....but surprisingly it was quite delicious. She finished chewing and looked to Remi, listening to her talk. "Special?" she questioned, her brow raised. No one ever said she was special and meant it, she was ordinary - painstakingly ordinary. Always was, always will be. Though, something had to been up... something didn't line up. Though... it all made sense when Remi finished her sentence... "An...angel?" she questioned and lowered her meal. "I can't ignore that it is the truth... I saw the wings, when we touched. I'm not sure... why or what happened then, but.." she sighed deeply. "It also explains why all the chaos - that...thing that attacked? I wonder if it was after you..." she sighed then deeply. "The fact that my family line has had an angel watching over is even more displeasing, they dont need any more assistance...but..." she raised a brow. "If you have been guarding us - then where have you been? I don't.. recognize you" she paused. "Or is that... not how it works? I've read of Guardian Angels but always thought them to be fiction... I know there are historical texts depicting Arch Angels - are exiled Angels who are cast down. Over the few thousand years their true punishment comes as insanity...." she shook her head. "Either way, I can't say why you are guarding the family line, or even if said weapon exists - I'm certainly not it. I am not capable of much, other than clearly being in the wrong place and wrong time..." she stood then and shook her head.
"I don't think it matters so much who you are, or where you come from... It wont stop things like that giant beast attacking, and for now - you are all I have. My main concern is getting back to safety. And you don't even seem in decent shape for even that... Where ever we are... I wonder if anyone lives here? We should get going - you look ill, and I need to tend to your wounds, but I have nothing to do it with... so..." she finished the last bite of her food, and tossed the stick down. "Lets go?"

Listening to Delilah push back against Remi caused her hazel eyes to look to the woman. The woman that didn’t believe in herself any more than she believed in the good of the angel that sat before her. In fact, she began blaming Remi for the monster, for everything that happened. Tears began to sting her eyes, her breaths began to heave. Blaming Remi for the deaths of those she loved, of her….family. Those men aboard that ship...the Captain had scooped her up off the streets. She’d been wandering with a bottle in her hands, drinking herself into oblivion. When she lost Viviane. She felt as though the world shattered. The beautiful colors were no longer there to guide her, the world became black and white. A dull black and white that had no depth, no clarity. Everything was a foggy haze.
Remi sucked in a breath, “Enough.” She choked out. “Stop.” She shook her head. Delilah spoke of angels being sentenced away….to ultimately suffer to their own insanity. “You may as well might not be a weapon.” Remi stood, she grit her teeth. “But you don’t get to talk about me like that.” Her hazel eyes glowed slightly in the morning rays. “This was not my doing. That thing very clearly came after you. I saw its eyes. It grabbed the mast you were on while it could have sank the entire ship. As soon as you were thrown to sea….it left everyone else to die the slow painful death of the sea.” Remi’s voice trembled as she stood there. Blood leaked from her nose slightly. She brushed the bright crimson color away. “You may not believe that there is something about you, but believe me when I say it I haven’t had the ability to fly in well over a thousand years. Yet, one touch from you in a state of emotion and suddenly I can feel power swarming through my body again? The power that was taken from me by my own brother’s in the heavens.”
The angel stopped speaking suddenly. Her body tensed. Her back arched slightly and her head leaned back as her eyes rolled back in her head. A whimper came over her lips as her body jolted slightly. She fell forward harshly onto the sugar sand. Her fingers from one hand outstretched catching the edge of Delilah’s foot as her body fell into a limp loose state. Blood soaked through the shirt that Delilah had wrapped over her wounds. This was torture.
Remi screamed as she slammed against the cold ground. The world around her was black as the night. Slowly though the world began to lighten. She stood upon the crumbled ruins of a building, flames surrounded her. Her breaths shook. She held her head as a splitting headache overwhelmed her. A cry came over her lips as she fell to her knees, tears rolled down her cheeks.
“It’s all your fault Archangel.” A demon hissed darkly. “Everything. Everything you are to blame for.” The charred demon stepped forward from the dark shadows around her with his glowing ember eyes, his curled horns. This was not the demon that pointed her to protect Delilah. No this was another demon entirely. “How are you still alive?” He hissed as he gripped around her neck.
Remi couldn’t fight against him, her fingertips curled around his wrist weakly as she choked. Her skin grew paper white to his touch, her heart felt as though it was going to escape from her chest as it bounded along like prey before a lion. The hues of her eyes began to turn black as the night. She struggled in his grip as he snickered.
“You’re so weak.” He taunted her. “As weak as any human can be. As weak as the Ambrosius girl.” He snickered, “Without you protecting her I an insure she will not blossom.” He slammed her back against a crumbling brick wall then. A few bricks tumbled to the ground. “Without you this will be our future, Archangel. I will rule over the lands as I see fit.”
Remi seemed to suck in a last breath as her eyes fluttered. Her grip fell from his arm as she hung loosely in the clutch of his single hand that was wrapped around her throat like a claw. Though a moment passed as he tossed her to the ground like a bag of unwanted trash. Remi’s head lulled to the side a blood leaked over her lips. Suddenly something happened, her head lifted slowly, her eyes glowed a beautiful bright white. Remi stood to her feet as the glow seemed to encompass her body, her wings sprouted from her back, her halo burned above her head. She reached to her hip and drew her sword which glowed a beautiful blue. “That won’t be happening.” She rushed forward and slashed toward the demon, her wings propelled her.
The demon turned and blocked her attack with a sword of his own. Though his sword was red like the embers of a fire. He snickered his sharp fangs showing as he shoved her back. Remi’s heels ground into the earth as she skidded to a stop. He then rushed forward and swung at her. Remi dodged to the side and sliced along his thigh with a quick slash of her blade. The demon snarled as he spun and went for another attack. With her wings and her halo….Remi was strong. Remi could stand up and fight against the demons. Without her wings...she was useless.
The demon slashed into her and slammed her into the ground, her chest pushed into the dirt as his huge foot pressed between her shoulder blades. “They will never give you your wings back, Archangel. You betrayed the prophet. You betrayed your own brothers.” He hissed. “They tossed you out like some moldy piece of meat. They never expected you to find the weapon. There isn’t one.” He snarled darkly. “Why else would you not find it? Hm? You searched for almost 1000 years before you gave up. Because you lost someone?” He scoffed. “Angels are so weak. How can we be the same? We are so far from the same.” He reached forward and ripped one of her wings from her back roughly, her ribs cracked beneath his weight. “This is how you’ll end, Remiael. This is how I will defeat you. The last angel.” He pressed down harder.
Remi screamed in pain and sat up quickly, she scattered to her feet and toppled over. Black lines coursed over her skin, her vision was foggy. “No….” She choked out. “No...I can’t….stop...” She lay on her back blood soaked into the white sand beneath her. It took several minutes before she finally stood herself back up. “We have to speak to Cassiel...” She choked out. Her body trembled. “He may be able to help...” She gripped her side, her ribs felt as though they crunched as her hand held over the corset. What was that? A dream? No dream had ever felt so real...she felt so powerless against that demon. Who was he? Was this the demon that her demon had spoken of? That she had to stop….
The Angel staggered slightly as she looked up to the skies, she looked to the shore. “Come on, Delilah.” She spat blood from her mouth. Her body was filled with pain. Though, pain was something she’d grown accustomed to since she was tossed from the heavens. It was some what of a long lost friend it seemed to be around every corner. Remi walked forward at a quick pace despite her injuries, her breaths were ragged, her vision fought to tunnel in. She brushed blood from her lips and nose as she walked into the thick of the forest. She had her sword pulled, the inscriptions glowed a faint blue from her power that rest within her body. Though this faint blue was also an indicator of just how weak he truly was. She walked like this for nearly an hour before she collapsed against a tree, holding onto it for support. Her body wasn’t going to allow too much more of this haste. She grit her teeth, “Come on...” She breathed. “Come on...” She could barely see. Remi squeezed her eyes shut and grit her teeth as she forced herself from the tree. She took one step forward before her sword fell from her grip. Her body shuddered and she collapsed to her side on the ground of a muddy two trek trail. She’d made it to the trails at least…
The sound of wooden wheels pushing through the mud and heavy hoof beats splashing over the ground echoed through the earth toward them. It wasn’t but a minute later that a man pulled back on the reins of his horse. He sat upon a supply wagon. His eyes widened when he saw the blood. “Oh...” He breathed. He jumped down. “Wh-what happened to you two?” He asked his eyes full for worry and concern. He looked to Remi, her chest barely moved as she lay there. “You need help.” He nodded as he looked to Delilah. “Please.” He knelt down, his eyes looked to the beautiful sword that lay in the mud. The inscriptions were absolutely stunning. His eyes then lifted to Delilah, “That’s quite the sword your friend has.” He smiled to her before he reached forward and pulled Remi against his chest. He heaved to his feet and drug her through the mud to his cart where he lifted her up into the back of the cart that was filled with soft goods for trade. He then looked to Delilah, “I’ll get you to the medic of Auburn. You seem like you’ve had a tough go of it.” He climbed back into his seat and awaited for her to climb on. He clicked his tongue and the horses began to move. “Interesting wounds your friend has.” He spoke after a long moment. His eyes glanced back to her. “Her back. What happened?” He asked. “And that sword.” He shook his head. “I’ve seen a sword like that, not exactly that, but like that. You know where it was? On display in the chapel, Archangel Elijah’s sword. Our savior.” He crossed his fingers over his chest as if making a prayer right then and there.
Remi stood next to Elijah, a smile upon her lips. He held the sword toward her. The other angels had gathered to watched Remi’s ceremony to become an Archangel. One of the greats. Remi bowed to her knees as she held both hands out. Elijah set the blade within her palms and it immediately began to glow. Remi could feel the power coursing through her, she glanced up to him with white glowing eyes, a grin upon her lips. She’d trained for this. She’d always trained for this. Most never got the honor of becoming an Archangel, no matter how hard they tried. Especially such a young angel as herself. “May our father guide you with his heavenly light and may the prophets provide you your path even in the darkest of times.” Elijah spoke as he nodded to her. She sheathed the blade and held her palm out. Elijah took a dagger and sliced through her palm. “You are one with us, Remiael, Archangel.” He sliced into his own palm and gripped onto hers tightly. Remi’s body jolted as the power surged through her. She let out a breath as her wings began to glow her halo seemed to glisten and pulse with the waves of magic. Elijah held this until her body gave out and she fell to her knees, ready to collapse. “Welcome, Remiael.” He spoke. The other Angels cheered and clapped welcoming her as he lifted her back to her feet.
Remi’s brows pulled together and she mumbled slightly in her sleep as she dreamed of her past. Each night she slept she was reminded of her past. A true torture to be reminded of what she’d given up. Even if it was to save the world. She’d given up the role of hero….she’d become the monster that she had to. She had to save the city of Argus. She had to save the mages. She had to stop the end of the world from coming. The carriage driver glanced over his shoulder. “Almost there.” He spoke as they crested a hill that overlooked the city of Auburn. As they raced into the city eyes fell upon the carriage. Curious people looking to the wounded woman upon the back. All attention was on the newcomers...

Delilah shifted back slightly as Remi snapped at her. “Interesting” she cut in and then sighed deeply, almost with a scoff behind her words. “I never said a thing of you, sounds to me like it’s you who harbors anger and sadness, grief even, but don’t interpret my words and warp them so I can be your vessel of burden” it was just then – their words back and forth, temper rising – that Remi suddenly keeled backwards.
Delilah shuffled forwards and grasped ahold of her “Damnit, you’re so freaking literal” she cursed and she rolled her onto her chest – fingers moving the soaked bandages. She pulled out a knife from Remi’s own pocket, and held the blade into the fire until its edge was scalding hot. She then pressed it against Remi’s wounds on her back – the stench of burning flesh was scalding her nose. Remi writhed with pain, but it was evident she was dreaming – whatever sudden comatose she was in… it had to be relative to the angel thing, that was for sure. Whatever the hell was going on…
Moments later Remi reared up, gasping and panicking. “Slow down-” Delilah held a hand out, but Remi had already pressed forward, commanding Delilah to follow. “Remi-” she followed behind. “Seriously, you’re injured – weak, we need to find shelter and let you rest. You keep pushing yourself like this and -” it was then that Remi simply… fell over. Delilah rushed over and peered to her – eyes looking over her pale skin, black lines lingering over her flesh - “What is happening to you?” she muttered. “What do I do, what do I do?” she thought long and hard for a moment…
Delilah turned her gaze as a wagon pulled up, the breathing of the horse seemed loud in her ear. “Um...” she glanced to the glowing sword as the man mentioned it. She reached forward and grasped the sword, and then sheathed it into Remi’s sheath upon her side. She then climbed onto the wagon and placed a hand on Remi’s side. “Thank you… for helping” she glanced up. “I will pay you, surely...” she sighed deeply then and leaned back. A moment to finally rest. This man though… who was he?
“We were on a ship and we got attacked, everything was a blur. I don’t remember much, other than waking on the beach, there were not many survivors...” she rattled… but it wasn’t a lie, per say. She then glanced back to him “Archangel Elijah? Your savior?” she questioned. “What is his story, where he deserved such a title?” she questioned as they rode.
Delilah glanced to the people as they stared, she lowered her gaze and placed a hand over Remi… “I...should introduce myself” she looked to the man. “Apologies… I am exhausted, and tired. My name is Delilah Ambrosius, a traveling Medic...” she held her hand out to him, “And you?” she questioned softly.

The man glanced over his shoulder to Delilah, a soft smile upon his lips. “Archangel Elijah?” He spoke, “Well, he’s just the angel that saved us from a terrible plague years ago. If you read the old texts our ancestors speak of him fighting off demons and monsters to protect us.” He pulled upon the reins. “A shipwreck huh?” He questioned and let out a soft breath. “We’ve had a few of those lately around the island. The waters seem to have become quite dangerous. These storms that roll through, the waves that the storms have been producing. I watched a huge trade ship become capsized once.” He seemed deep in thought a moment. “A few of my good friends were on that ship.” He confessed before he pulled on the reins once again, the horse came to a halt. It turned it’s ears back and neighed slightly as it bobbed it’s head.
The man climbed down from his seat and pat the horses shoulder. “Don’t worry ol’ boy, I’ll get you an apple for your trouble, hm?” He walked around to the back of the wagon and looked up to Delilah. “Ambrosius huh? That name sounds familiar.” He pondered a moment then shrugged. “I am Mathias, just a trader I’m afraid, but my good friend inside this building here...he can help your friend there. He has the hands of an angel they say.” He offered a gentle smile. Mathias searched Delilah’s eyes a moment before he reached into the back of the wagon and grasped onto Remi whom groaned slightly from him lifting her. “Come on, I’ll introduce you to our healer...I do hope he can help your friend.” He looked down to the black lines upon Remi’s pale skin. His brows tucked together slightly, as if he was troubled.
Mathias held Remi close to his body, her head lulled back and her arms hung limply. He stepped toward the wooden door and pushed it open carefully. “Eli.” He called as he walked in. “Eli.” He rounded a corner.
A young man with striking blue eyes and pale blonde hair was knelt over a sleeping woman with a wrap around her head, a bit of blood soaked through. “Mathias.” He spoke as he stood and rubbed his hands on a cloth before he dipped his hands in a bowl of water to clean the blood from them. His eyes moved to Remi and his jaw loosened for a moment before he pursed his lips slightly. He then glanced to Delilah a moment. His eyes lingered on her then, as if he knew her. As if he was trying to piece together memories.
“Eli, this woman, she needs your help.” Mathias spoke up, breaking the silence.
The man looked back to Mathias and nodded, “Of course.” He moved and stepped back, “Set her here.” He motioned to a lifted cot. “What happened?” He questioned as he knelt next to her and touched her cheek which was cool to touch. Remi’s breaths shuddered.
“The ship they were on sank.” Mathias spoke and shifted slightly. “Does it matter what happened to her, Eli?”
The man looked up a moment, his eyes caught Delilah again before his brows tucked together. “No, it doesn’t really matter I suppose.” He stood and stepped over to a shelf that was stocked with plants and bottles of dried materials, even liquids of all different colors. “You may leave Mathias, this isn’t going to be pleasant...” He spoke as he began mixing a few things together. His eyes looked to the hilt of the sword that was on Remi’s hip. Then he once again looked to Delilah, the beautiful blue of his eyes almost entrancing.
“I’ll be outside...Delilah?” He questioned and looked to her before he slipped from the room.
Eli knelt at Remi’s side with a vile of almost black liquid. He lifted her head carefully and held the glass to her lips. As he tilted the glass Remi choked and gagged. He pinched her nose shut and closed her mouth by pressing her jaw closed. She choked a bit more before the liquid slipped down her throat. “Delilah….that’s what he called you, right?” Eli looked up as he rolled Remi to her side. He looked back to her and began inspecting the wounds upon her back. He tilted his head slightly as he touched the seared flesh. “How well do you know this woman?” He questioned as he began cleaning the wounds.
**
Remi stood, her wings relaxed behind her back. She wore the white and golden armor that glistened in the bright rays of the sun. Her robes clung over the pieces of armor, her halo was glowing above her head. She had her arms crossed as she looked out over the valley before her. The sound of footsteps crunching against the dirt broke her attention away. She glanced over her shoulder and a soft smile turned up her lips. “Eli.” She spoke. “Good to see you, brother.”
Eli walked up to her side, he had his own beautifully white wings. He wore simple robes though, nothing compared to that of an Archangel. “Remiael.” He stepped to her side. “It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you...fighting the battles for the other angels, hm?” He gave a soft smile.
“Elijah keeps sending me off on task after task.” Remi responded softly. “Who knew being an Archangel would be filled with so many tasks.” She let out a soft laugh, “I feel like I’ve been doing less and less for the humans since I’ve become an Archangel. I’m just fighting against demons...” She shook her head. “I used to save lives...I used to help the humans, that’s what we are supposed to do, Eli. We were created to help them...yet here I stand, slaying demons around each corner with my back turned as more humans die at another demon’s hands.”
Eli lowered his eyes and gave a nod. “It seems more demons rise with each year. Doesn’t it?” He let out a soft sigh. “You’re right, we need to be helping the humans...Elijah has lost sight, all he cares about is finding this weapon that the prophet has spoken of...if we find it before the demons. Blah blah blah.” Eli shrugged. “Whomever finds it….” He sighed. “Will it matter if the humans are all dead?” He raised a brow.
Remi let out a soft chuckle. “My point exactly.” She glanced to him, “What’s the point of having such a weapon if the humans are lost?”
Remi woke with a gasp, she rolled from the cot and fell onto the floor. Her body ached as she weakly pushed herself up. She glanced about the room as she took in quick shallow breaths. Where was she? Her back...the wounds didn’t feel as though they were on fire anymore. She managed to push herself to her feet and she stumbled, she grasped onto the wall and grit her teeth. Her eyes fell upon a mirror, she gazed upon herself. Her pale skin...the black lines still faintly ran up her arms. What was happening to her? She drew her brows together. “Delilah...” She muttered as she glanced around the room. The last thing she remembered was trudging through the forest...then everything went black. She could hear the faint sound of voices. Remi pushed the door of the room open. She reached up and brushed a bit of blood from her nose. Her body was so weak. She’d never quite felt this way before. “Delilah?” She asked softly as she rounded the hallway, she stumbled forward. Her vision was foggy her head light. Her fingertips trailed along the wall, helping to steady her.

“I see...” Delilah replied as the man spoke of the Archangel. “I never dove much into the stories of angels and demons, where I come from – we are more focused on Magic and maybe some history int o the Gods. In just my journey so far… I wonder why they snuff the tales of the angels from the schools… either way, they are not the ones to thank at this moment – it is you. Thank you… again” Delilah glanced to Remi and sighed deeply.
Soon they came to a stop and Mathias lifted Remi from the cart. She dug into her pouch and lifted a few golden coins and clutched them in her hand. She followed behind Mathias until they came upon a small clinic. After Mathias set Remi down – she grasped his hand and slipped the coins ino his palm and then turned from him.
Delilah remained quiet as Mathias and Eli exchanged words – but as soon as Mathias left – Delilah set herself to assist. She had already begun to remove the soaked wraps from Remi’s body, discarding them into a bin as she saw to the side. Delilah then removed Remi’s sword and paused… she then clasped it around her own waist and sighed. Her hues glanced to the man as he poured liquid into Remi’s mouth.
“Yes, Delilah is my name” she nodded. She reached for a tray of tools and held it – for Eli to use to clean the wounds. It was as if she had assisted a hundred times, or perhaps she just knew what to expect. “Not too terribly well… We have only just met, but it has nothing but Chaos since the moment she entered my life” she sighed deeply “but she has been kind, despite it all, I owe it to ensure she recovers” she poured a bit of warm water over the wound – rinsing it out as he cleaned it.
“Whoa---what kind of suture is that?” She watched as Eli sewed up one of the long cuts along her back. Eli chuckled and glanced to her, his blue eyes causing her to quake slightly. There was something about him…
“I knew you seemed to be some kind of Medic, if you want to learn...” he reached forward and handed another suture kit to her. “Follow suit on the parallel laceration” he moved slowly then to show her the exact motions. “Good good – careful, turn a little tighter” he motioned. Soon enough they finished up and he covered the wounds in a thick paste, and then wrapped her up.
“How long do you think she will be out?” Delilah questioned Eli.
“You tell me – observe her” he motioned his hand out.
“Her skin is pale, these… black lines...” Her finger traced them. “Do you know this is?” she questioned.
“It happens when someone uses more magic than their body is willing to offer, the body starts to.. fight itself.” he shifted his gaze “Her soul must recover… the liquid I gave her should speed up the regeneration, but… it could be some time…” he crossed his arms. “You did a decent job saving her, she would have bled out for sure. I could tell you didn’t have the supplies needed… but it could have been better… How about you stick around and help me here in the clinic, until she wakes?” he questioned “I can teach you what I know” he nodded. “And… we could use a hand around here...”
Delilah looked to him, and then down to Remi. “Sure, I rather put myself to good use anyways” she nodded and then she paused. “I will tell Mathias…”
“Be swift – we have a few coming in now” Eli spoke as he glanced out the window to see 2 people carrying a limping boy.
Delilah nodded her head and went outside. Mathias turned and nodded his head. “Will she be okay?” he questioned.
Delilah nodded “Yes… it will be a long road to recovery. I owe you much… I have decided to stay here with Eli and help, as my payment to him.”
Mathias nodded “Very well, if you need a break – we should grab a drink, okay?” he smiled then.
“Sounds good… Thank you again” Delilah bowed her head.
Mathias laughed slightly “You are so formal, loosen up hm? You would have done the same for me, if you could, right? I can see it in your eyes – a kind soul...” he smiled then. “Ale – later, that is your thanks to me” he then climbed onto his wagon and rode away.
“Delilah – some help please!” Eli called through the window.
Delilah came rushing into the room – watching blood squirt Eli from the leg of the body. She quickly rushed forward and grasped his leg and squeezed the wound – blood spilling between her fingers. “I’ll hold, you have to repair this artery” she pushed her elbow down on the boy’s chest – who was shouting and crying in pain. “No time to knock him out, he’ll die -” she watched then as Eli rushed forward…
Six days passed – She quickly came to realize that Eli was the only healer in the area – the people came in nonstop, how did he not have any help? How did he do this alone? She was exhausted from just their day to day work, but even then she sat next to Delilah. She spoon fed her soup, hoisting her onto her chest while sitting behind her. They tried to stick her but her veins were weak and wouldn’t hold, this was as good as it was going to get…
“Delilah – I need a fresh pot of water” Eli called from across the building.
“On it -” she rushed to a stove and tossed a pot on. Everything had to be boiled and sterile, water was not as dependable here as it was where she was from. By now her and Eli had had many conversations – talking about her family, Argus and magic. Though she still knew very little of Eli, he seemed to be quite interested in her. However, most people were – she was a woman of great lineage and power….
She heard a sudden thud – Delilah turned and stepped into the hallway. “Remi - “ she rushed forward and placed both hands on her shoulders, steadying her. “You shouldn’t be up, you are extremely weak...” she grasped her hand. “You are safe – we are in a small village called Panormos, we were rescued by a traveling merchant, and now we are in a Clinic – Eli and I have patched you up. As payment I’ve been assisting him… so…” she ushered her back to her bed. “Just sit… for one minute, we need to finish up and then I’ll have him check on you, okay?” she helped her back into the bed. “Just a minute...here...drink” she handed her a cup of water.
The water on the stove was boiling now – a rolling rumble. She swiftly rushed over and turn it off and grasped the handle with a pot holder and hurried past Remi.
“Are you trying to burn the guy?” Eli spoke as she entered.
“Remi woke up-” Delilah went to continue her sentence but she was cut off.
“Remember that stitch? Stitch him up” he handed her the kit and then quickly left the room.

Remi took in a gasp as Delilah grasped onto her. “Wh….Panormos?” She questioned as her brows drew together. She gripped onto Delilah. Her eyes moved around the home. “Eli...” She breathed as she was placed on the bed. “Wait...Delilah...” Her vision caved slightly as she spoke, “Wait...” She spoke again but Delilah was already gone. She leaned her back against the cool wall as she lifted the cup of water to her lips shakily. She closed her eyes and let out a breath.
“Always overdoing it, aren’t you?” A familiar voice entered her ears. The door clicked closed and Eli stepped into the room. He knelt in front of her, a grin upon his lips. “Remiael….” His blue eyes searched hers.
Remi stared to him, her air caught in her chest. She didn’t speak as she reached a shaky hand forward to his cheek. Her eyes searched his, tears welled in her eyes. Several long moments passed, only silence between the two. Eli allowed her to take in the moment. “Eli...” She finally breathed.
**
Remi stood in the small chamber, the other Archangels stood in a circle around a man that stood with his head bowed, his wrists bound by rope. His wings were relaxed behind his back. Remi glanced to Elijah who had his eyes upon her. “Remiael. You will cast out this traitor.” He nodded, “Judgement has been cast upon him, it is our duty to carry out the wishes of our prophet.” Elijah nodded to her a few of the other Archangels stepped from the circle then.
Remi stepped forward, her breath shook. She lifted her eyes to the man as she stood before him. “I’m...sorry Eli.” She breathed her eyes finally caught his.
“I am punished for saving a life?” He questioned.
“You allowed a demon to live.” Elijah nearly barked the words. “Rid him from the heavens, Remiael.” He scoffed as he left the room.
Remi stood alone now with Eli. She looked to him a long moment as tears rolled down her cheeks. He was the first she was to cast out. A friend. She should have never had to do such a thing….especially not alone….not like this. Remi placed her hand on his shoulder, “Eli...I’m sorry but the prophet...I...” She looked away.
Eli lowered to his knees slowly, “I understand what I’ve done. I would do it a thousand times. Just as you would and just as you will Remiael...one day….you will sit where I sit...” His eyes looked to the floor.
“That I may.” Remi spoke softly, “Keep a glass of wine for me waiting, hm?” She knelt before him. “Keep them safe, brother.” She hugged him then for a long moment before she stood and pulled her sword...
**
“Still want that wine?” Eli questioned with a soft chuckle, a smirk upon his lips. He took the glass of water as she nearly dropped it. “You’re lucky to have happened upon a medic.” He spoke as he stepped to a shelf and mixed a few things into the water, no measurement required. He did everything by eye. After performing such healing over a thousand years, he’d gotten rather good at it. “Not a mage though, but a medic nonetheless.” He brought the mug back over to her and knelt before her as he held it forward. “How are you feeling Remiael?” He asked softly.
“Eli...” Remi spoke as she looked to the drink. She took it into her hands that shook.
His hands clasped over hers to steady her. “You’re very weak. You pushed your limits...much as you always have. Hm?” He offered a playful smile. “Drink.” He helped her lift the mug to her lips. He tilted it and held it there for her to drink. “Just how did you tap into such magic after being thrown from the heavens? That’s how your back ripped open, isn’t it?” Eli questioned softly. “It sounds as though if you hadn’t used your magic your friend there would have died.” He raised a brow. “What is so important to you about this human?”
Remi lowered her hands, the warmth of his hands on hers sent a shiver down her spine. “There is something...I feel something...” She spoke, her eyes heavy. “Our Prophet...is a demon...I’ve seen the future Eli...I have to stop it...I...I saved Argus...and I was thrown from heaven for saving the humans...for saving her family bloodline.” She leaned back and let out a shuddering breath. “Eli...when will this pass?” She questioned.
Eli took the empty mug from her hands. He stood slowly and let out a long breath. “The prophet a demon?” He asked softly, he scoffed then and shook his head. “Remiael, I think you need to rest.” He gave a gentle smile. “You’re speaking nonsense.” He brushed a piece of hair and tucked it behind her ear before he helped lay her down. “I’ll cook something to eat, hm?”
“I need to find Cassiel.” Remi pushed herself back up. “I need to speak to him...he will give me answers, Eli.” Her vision blurred as she pushed herself to her feet.
“Remiael.” Eli grasped onto her shoulders, his brows tucked together tightly. “You are in no condition.” His voice was stronger this time. “Sit down.” He pushed down on her. “You must recover your strength.” He nodded.
Remi grit her teeth as she fought against him, she gripped onto his biceps. “No...there’s no time...” She gasped. “No time to waste….I can’t...” She faltered and fell onto the bed, her back hit the wall and she let out a whimper.
“You can barely stand.” Eli glared to her, “Rest.” He spoke as he stepped from the room. He stepped into the kitchen and he began cooking then.
Remi took in quick breaths, the black lines sprawled over her skin as she fought to stay awake. Her eyes fluttered, “Eli….” She whispered, her voice filled with pain. “Delilah...” She grit her teeth as she tried to stand. She stumbled and fell to her knees on the floor. She took in gasps of air as her body suddenly fell limp and she collapsed.
A gust of cold wind pushed against Remi’s body. She opened her eyes to find herself standing upon a mountain. She wrapped her arms around her body and shivered as she looked into the dark clouds that swirled around the mountain tossing snow down into the valley. “Remiael.” A deep voice spoke from behind her. Remi spun to find the demon...the prophet...standing behind her. A smirk upon his lips. “Careful whom you entrust with such knowledge.” He spoke and tilted his head. “Time is ticking, how long are you going to lay around and wait?” He growled as he stepped to her and gripped onto the front of her tunic. He held her there, her feet lifted from the ground ever so slightly. “Don’t you want to save the humans? Or have your forgotten?”
Remi struggled against him, choking. “Why…..is the girl so important? She isn’t even a mage...” She gripped onto his arm, her legs kicking slightly as he lifted her higher.
The demon snickered as he watched her with the black pits he had for eyes. “Why should I solve everything for you, Archangel?” He smirked. “Why don’t you fly?” He smirked as he tossed her then.
Remi flew back tumbling off of the side of the cliff. She screamed as her body flailed through the icy air. She flipped about and took in quick breaths, focusing. Suddenly her eyes lit up a bright white color and her wings appeared in a light form behind her back. She beat the wings just in time to slow her from the impact on the ground. Remi fell to her knees as the wings disappeared. She looked to her hands as black lines ran over her skin. “I can’t...keep doing this...” She muttered.
“You think it is weakness?” The demon appeared from a swirl of fire before her. “No Remiael. You’re wrong about that. Embrace it. You’ll see.”
Remi’s eyes fluttered open, she lay upon her back on the floor, blood leaked from her nose. She coughed and rolled to her side. “Delilah...” She pushed herself up. There was a sense of energy swirling through her body. Her hazel eyes glowed slightly, though her breaths trembled. She grit her teeth and grasped onto the door knob. “We need to go...” She muttered to herself. “We can’t stay here...” She spoke as she pulled on the door.
Eli stood with a hot bowl of soup. His eyes looked to her. “Remiael...” He let out a breath. “Please, sit. Eat. You need to eat to regain your strength.” He nodded.
Remi stared into his blue eyes a long moment. “I can’t stay here Eli.” She sucked in a breath.
Eli tightened his jaw slightly, “Stubborn as always.” He muttered. “Come.” He led her to the table and sat the bowl down. “Have some soup.” He grasped her shoulders and placed her into the chair.
Remi fought against him and stood back up, the chair toppled over. She reached for her sword, gone. Where was it? Her eyes widened slightly. “My sword...” She breathed. She gripped the front of his tunic. “Where is it, Eli?” Her voice was a growl, the glow in her eyes intensified then, the black lines darkened across her skin.

“Remi” Delilah stood in the room, just in the door way. “I have your sword” she spoke and then stepped over and placed a hand on her back. “Let him go…” her voice was soft, even soothing. “What ever you are going through… just take a deep breath...” she unclasped the sword and set it on the table. “You can have it… after you eat.” she looked to Eli then, who nodded to her.
Delilah then looked to Eli for a long moment and then pulled something from her pack and set it down. It was a very old weathered journal. “While we are here...” she crossed her arms. “Medical notes by you from over 400 years ago...” she looked to Remi then and back to Eli.
“I am starting to believe none of what has happened is a coincidence. I leave home and I run across you, Delilah, then we are attacked by a huge demonic sea beast, and everyone is murdered – except for you and me. We are then rescued, and placed before yet… another angel. Either the world is blind to Angels and Demons, or they’re just surrounding you both, or maybe...even me.” she pulled the sword from the sheath and set it down. It was still glowing a bright blue, the runes pulsing strongly – as if empowered just moments ago.
“This is no ordinary sword, so, I cannot stand idly and let my ignorance blind me. You both are angels...” she sheathed it. “We need to get to the bottom of whatever the hell is going on. Regardless of what you do or do not believe – we were attacked by a giant beast, and fate has guided our paths to cross. We are meant for something more, are we not?” she questioned aloud. “You both have been cast here, both wallowing in agony and sadness of what is no longer, but it appears the tides have shifted and you have a chance to do something about it. The power that is in that sword...” she reached forward then and placed a hand on Remi’s shoulder, and Eli’s shoulder.
Suddenly there was a burst of energy – it shot from the core of Delilah’s chest and filled them both with power. She glanced up – a halo above each of their heads…. Delilah stumbled back and gripped the chair, falling into it… “Tell me this is normal” she muttered. Though this time the power surge felt natural, didn’t cause her pain – it was as if it was being stored and was begging to release into any unit it could escape to…

Remi took in a breath as she heard Delilah’s voice, her brows drew together slightly. She looked to the sword as it was placed upon the table. Her expression softened, her eyes moved to Eli once again. “Thank you for keeping that safe...Delilah...” She didn’t sit though as her hand fell away from Eli. She shifted a bit uncomfortably as Delilah began to speak. She glanced to the journal and let out a breath. “Writing books now, hm?” She glanced to him.
Eli’s jaw tightened. “I can explain.” He muttered as he looked into Delilah’s eyes.
Remi went to speak just as Delilah continued on. Speaking of the events that happened. She placed her hand on the table to steady herself. “There is no such thing as a coincidence.” Remi spoke, her eyes moving to Eli once again. She looked to the glowing sword, her lips parted. It had been such a long time since she’d seen in glow like that. She looked to Delilah then as she touched her shoulder. Remi gasped as the power surged into her body. She let out a cry as her eyes glowed a bright heavenly white. Eli gasped as his own eyes glowed and he fell to his knees. Remi stumbled back a few paces as her wings sprouted from her back, though this time it did not cause pain. It was swift and simple, just as it had been when she was an angel years ago.
Remi looked to Delilah a laugh came over her lips as she embraced the power. It felt incredible to hold it again. Eli stood slowly, his hands trembled as he looked to them. His own wings appeared behind his back, an ashen color. He looked up to Remi and chuckled slightly as his eyes fell upon Delilah. “I now understand what is so important.” He let out a breath as the power dissipated from his body. The glow from his eyes disappeared. “Maybe we do have a chance, hm, Remiael?” He looked to his hands as he inhaled. The feeling of the power was almost overwhelming for him, it had been so long since his wings were ripped from his body.
Remi reached forward and grasped onto her sword. The black lines had all but disappeared from her skin. The power coursing through her veins caused her to relax slightly as she looked to Delilah. “The power in this sword.” She smiled, “Is that of an Archangel’s blade.” She clipped it back to her hip as she closed her eyes, breathing in through her mouth. It was overwhelming to feel the flow of energy again. “Delilah, this is normal. You are extraordinary in a way that will be hard to comprehend at first. But I can show you.” She nodded as she opened her glowing eyes again. “I’ll help guide you.” She turned then, her brows drew together. “Eli.” She spoke just as the door burst open behind him.
There was a deep growl as something rushed forward, the sword pierced through Eli’s chest from behind, before he could even turn. The bright light flashed in his eyes as he reached forward toward Remi. A demon stood, eyes red like that of blood. A snicker came over the slender woman’s lips as her eyes fell upon Remi. “Ahhh Archangel.” She hissed. “Have you come to stop me?” She twisted the blade and ripped it back, Eli’s body fell motionless to the ground. She clicked her tongue as she looked to Delilah. “Would you just look at this beauty?” She moved with great speed. Her hand cupped Delilah’s cheek in the blink of an eye. She took in a deep breath. “Such power resides within you.” She snickered.
Remi lunged forward with her sword. The demon spun, dodging the attack. Remi and the demon danced about the home, their swords would clash together. Remi was thrown back several times, her body still evidently weak. Then suddenly she pulled her dagger and she lunged forward with both her dagger and sword in hand. She swung and spun through the air. The blades clashed against the demon and knocked her back. Remi stabbed into her chest and a darkness escaped from her mouth like a smoke before a flash of light came from her eyes. Remi grit her teeth and in a sudden movement she’d sheathed her blades. “We have to go.” She grabbed Delilah. She pulled her from the home and then suddenly she wrapped her arms around her hugging Delilah tightly to her body. Remi beat her wings and they shot up into the air, narrowly escaping the blade of another demon. A few homes were lit aflame below them. The demons were looking for Remi….or possibly Delilah.
“Hold on, Delilah.” Remi spoke, her voice calm, angelic even. She bound through the air with speed, the wind whipped around them as she flew on. She flew for a few hours until the light in her eyes began to pale. Remi landed and hugged herself to Delilah a long moment, her breaths shuddered. “This chaos.” She spoke as she released her. “This chaos around us will not stop. Whatever part you play in the war between demons and angels...it will not stop until we figure this out.” Her eyes fluttered slightly. Her wings had disappeared. Her halo still shone above her head brightly though it flickered. “We have to speak to Cassiel.” The light fully faded from her eyes then, she let out a breath as the halo disappeared. The magic coursing through her body expended for the time being.
Remi finally fell to her knees a sob came over her lips. Eli. The way the demon killed him. It was a targeted attack. They had been scoping the place out, waiting to attack. How long had she been asleep? Remi grit her teeth and shook her head as tears rolled over her cheeks. “We….can’t stop...” She breathed as she pushed herself up. She was shaky as she walked forward. “Come on, Delilah...” She sniffled slightly as she walked toward the mountains in the distance. The mountains were capped in snow, a truly beautiful sight. “Cassiel...will know, he must know...” She nodded to herself.

Delilah gasped loudly as she watched blood splatter across the room – Eli falling to the ground like a heavy sack. Delilah’s grit her teeth and went to lung forward – but Remi had already made her move, the two engaging in a sword fight…
Delilah dropped down to Eli – he was already gone, that fast. “No..” she shook her head and then glanced to his own waist – a sword of his own. She quickly unclasped the belt and pulled it around her and clasped it. She swiftly drew the blade – it had its own inscriptions, but it wasn’t nearly as glorious as Remi’s. It was evident that it was likely a sword provided to a lower ranking angel… yet it still was sharp, and glowed happily with her power.
Some how she was guided with her strikes – something within the sword enchanted her with an ability she never had. She clashed with another demon – their swords clanging as they battle. Finally she thrust forward – the blade slicing into the demon’s chest. The blue scripts glowed even brighter and the demon suddenly burst into ashes – the sword had exploded holy power into the beast…
Delilah cried out as she felt something cut into her shoulder – a demon behind her. She turned – there were too many. It was just as she realized this that she was grasped – suddenly lifted into the air. She wanted to scream out, but she was thankful. Her eyes glanced down to the burning city – the people she had helped, and the ones who helped her. She hated to leave them, and she hated even more so that she was the reason they would die…
Delilah grasped onto Remi as they flew, her head curled into her chest as her great wings flapped with great power. They covered much land until Delilah had grown tired… When they landed – she dropped down and gasped, having had a hard time breathing in the air…
“Who is.. Cassiel?” She questioned as she finally gathered herself. She turned and looked to the pathway they were on, there was a trail head sign. “Let’s travel to this city… you need to rest, and we need food” she looked to her and sighed.
They traveled along the road – until she saw something. An image of a woman. Delilah made her way to it – it was some one familiar. “Valorie?” she questioned.
It was indeed, the young woman crossed her arms and then chuckled, she gave a jester like curtsey and then smiled. “Indeed it is, big sister” she smirked and then glanced to Remi. “Unfortunately, I’m not actually here. Just a image of myself… I have news to tell you...” she glanced down slightly. “Mom, Dad, Peter and Carver are all kidnapped. I’m not sure by who, but obviously someone powerful enough to subdue their powers… The most I heard from them is they were searching for you… I was able to escape...” she crossed her arms. “I’m already working with the academy to gather the best of the best to rescue them, but I’m worried about you – and I’m afraid for them. Listen… obviously it’s not safe to come back, but stay safe – I can’t say why they’re after you…” she looked around. “I have to go… Love you-” the image then vanished.
Delilah stared to where her sister once stood, her fingers curled up into fists. “What?” she shook her head. “They have my family – because they’re after me?” she looked to Remi. “Tell me what we have to do, we have to stop them, why me? What ever it is – I need to know now. Am I this weapon you’re talking about?”

Remi took in quick breaths as she looked to Delilah. The orders came over the woman’s lips and then a smile split the angels’ own lips. “Rest sounds nice, but it may be something that we cannot afford. We stayed stationary too long.” She spoke as she followed after the woman. Her eyes looked up to the storm clouds, this was the first time in a long time that she didn’t have a drop of liquor in her blood. She’d drank herself into oblivion after Viviane died. Her cares for finding the so called weapon of the prophet were tossed away, as easily as tossing an empty bottle over the side of the ship. “You saw the demons, Delilah. I don’t know what exactly it is they want with you, but I have been guided to your family for years, protecting and stepping in on several occasions.” She lowered her eyes slightly as she stared to the sword upon Delilah’s hip. Eli’s sword. She bit her lip slightly and then she looked up as they were approached by a woman. A woman that had similar features as Delilah.
The angel shifted slightly as she watched the interaction her brows drawn together. What was so important to the demons about this girl? Her power was incredible. Was she truly this weapon? A weapon couldn’t be a human. No. The prophet never stated it was a human. Then again, he never stated exactly what the weapon was or what it looked like. Riddles. Her world was filled with riddle after riddle to solve. Remi gave a slight nod, “Cassiel will help answer these questions. He is a prophet, old as time...I...” Remi crossed her arms over her chest. “I will help you find your family, I will help you figure this out...we need to get to town...I’ll have to locate Cassiel.”
Remi walked forward then, her arms still held over her body, she shivered slightly. “We are surrounded by demons, well outnumbered.” She spoke as she walked forward. “Since the dawn of time Angels have been outnumbered. Too many fallen. Too many that break the laws. But, we must exist. Both demons and angels are needed for a balance to the world. Just as the reapers must collect souls.” Her voice was calm as she spoke. “Some demons must be stopped for they threaten the balance. They wish to overtake everything, to rule over humans….humans should never know of our existence...” She glanced to Delilah. “So, your answer….you asked how it is that humans don’t have very much text on angels and demons? Think of us as a hidden society.” She closed her eyes a moment, the black lines were scrawled over her skin again, though not as dark as before. Her breaths shuddered and she grit her teeth. “Just a few years ago I stopped a demon from entering the academy. I didn’t understand what he’d wanted….at the time I didn’t even know of your existence truthfully….” Remi hugged her arms a bit more tightly, “When I killed him he told me that I wouldn’t be able to stop the end that...they had already made their mark.” She shrugged, “I’m not sure what that means to be honest.”
The clouds above them swirled a breeze kicked up. Remi glanced up just as a bolt of lightning scattered across the skies. She nearly fell as it rumbled over the earth in a thunderous boom. Suddenly something shot down from the skies and dived toward the two. Remi flinched back, her arm barred before Delilah, protecting her as she drew her sword. Then her demeanor changed, her jaw loosened. She reached her hand out and a beautiful white hawk landed on her hand. The tips of the wings were black, but otherwise every feather of the bird was a beautiful pure white. “It’s been a long time old friend...” She breathed. The creature glistened with magic as it tilted it’s head and looked to Delilah. It cawed and moved to land on Delilah’s shoulder. It nudged the top of her head a moment and ruffled its feathers before it took to the skies above them.
Remi stared up to the beautiful creature. “I haven’t seen him in almost 200 years...” She spoke in a whisper. Remi then smiled as she looked to Delilah, “Then again this is the first I’ve been sober in almost 200 years.” She let out a chuckle. “I’d given up on finding the weapon….a weapon, anything really.” She shrugged. “It’s painful to search for something that doesn’t seem to exist...but...perhaps it does.” The angel walked forward, the caw of her hawk overhead. The town was coming into view in the distance at the edge of the valley. Rain had begun to fall upon them, the droplets were cool upon Remi’s skin.
“Just being in your presence gives me strength, Delilah.” Remi spoke as she glanced to her, the smile still upon her lips. “I haven’t felt like this since….well...” She paused and lowered her eyes. “Since the day that Elijah ripped my wings from my back and he shattered my halo...” She fell quiet then her hands fumbled slightly and she let out a sigh. The memory was all too strong in her mind, she couldn’t forget...no matter how hard she tried. She also couldn’t forget each and every angel that she was forced to rip the wings from. The hawk above cawed and dove down a bit lower. Remi focused her eyes ahead, her hand went to the hilt of her sword. “Stay behind me, Delilah.” She spoke and glanced to her. Remi walked forward toward a single person that walked toward them on the pathway. A man that towered over them, he easily stood over 6 feet tall. His muscles were well defined. Remi watched him with her hazel eyes as they drew closer.
“What are two beauties like you doing wandering out all alone?” He questioned with a chuckle. He stepped forward and barred their path.
“Headed to town for some rest and a meal.” Remi replied her eyes focused on him, her fingertips still curled around the hilt of her sword.
The man smirked his eyes looked to Delilah. The iris’ of his eyes darkened into black pits as he snickered. “Well, well….” He lunged forward.
Remi tackled the man to the ground, protecting Delilah. She was almost immediately pinned to her back by the large man. He snarled, a mouth of fangs glistened at her. The angel slammed her fist into the side of his face as he gripped onto her. They tumbled and rustled around on the ground. Remi was putting up quite the fight for her size. She kneed him and scattered to her feet. She drew her blade and she sliced forward. The huge demon growled as he blocked her attack with his gauntlets. “Archangel.” He snarled deeply as he gripped onto her sword that was glowing lightly. He ripped it from her hands and then gripped her wrist. The demon threw her to the ground and pinned her quickly. Remi fought against him her eyes glowed as she tried to summon her strength. The demon slammed her against the ground harshly. The hawk dived from the sky and clawed into his back causing him to scream out. Remi struggled against his grip. She grit her teeth as she writhed and turned in his grip. He tightened his hold of her wrists and he slammed his fist into her side.
Remi groaned as she kneed his side. She broke a hand loose and she gripped for her dagger. She slammed it into the demon’s shoulder and he finally released her. Remi scrambled to her feet, her breaths heavy. She rushed to grab her sword only to be kicked to the ground, the demon pressed his foot into her back and pushed more of his weight upon her. “Face it Archangel! You’re weak!” He chuckled. “I’ll take the human with me! Lucien would love to have her!”

Delilah pressed a hand to her chest as she stared to the space where her sister once stood – she sucked in a breath and looked to Remi as she spoke of helping her. “Thank you...” she shut her eyes for a moment and released the breath, very slow and even. “I grew up my entire life being tortured for being a normal, a simple, useless human” she chuckled “it appears I am not that… but...” she shook her head. “I’m not an idiot, this is for sure… I do not have traditional magic like my family, I was deemed magic-less, which was considered nearly impossible… Turns out I have… something else, magic that aligns with the… angels? It is, so far, is the only logical explanation. This means… that something happened… I know my family in and out, I’ve read all of the historical documents...” she shook her head. “Your friend must have answers, something happened – something that not even my father knew about…”
She followed Remi then and glanced back up as Remi paused. Something happened – something dove from the skies. Delilah shifted back and then stared to the hawk which came to Remi’s command. “wow…” she whispered. “You act as if the heavens aren’t with you… but it seems they’ve given you more gifts than you realize...” she smiled then.
Delilah shifted her gaze as someone approached. She glanced to Remi and gave a deep sigh - “Do we ever get a break?” she questioned softly and she paused as Remi’s arm pushed out infront of her. She glanced down to her own hip – where Eli’s sword rest on her curved hip… She placed a hand on the pommel and grit her teeth.
Delilah shuffled back as Remi and the demon began to fight. She gasped as she watched the fight commence – Remi put up a hard fight but this demon was twice their size… She grit her teeth then and drew her blade – a kind of instinct took ahold of her the moment her fingers wrapped around the leather hilt.
She stepped forward and shoved her blade forward. The glowing blue edge pushed into the demons back and slid up his body like butter, pushing all the way through him. Delilah pressed a heel to his rear and shoved him off the sword, sending him tumbling. Her entire body glowed a bright blue, mixed with angelic lines of white – like the sun peaking through the clouds.
Delilah held her blade forward and a beam of light shot from its tip and pierced into the chest of the demon – who had tried to scramble, but bled out over the ground. “Tell me of Lucien” she called out, her voice practically booming over the mountain tops.
The demon cried out - “You can-not – ma-make m-” he fought the will of whatever magic she was pouring into her.
“Tell me!” she shouted, the beam growing brighter.
“Lucien is a Grand Master Demon, he seeks your demise, to turn you demon, halfling… he will...control you” the demon spat a goblet of blood.
Delilah’s eyes glowed brighter and the beam increased – until he exploded into a pile of ashes. She stumbled back, the sword’s glowing diminishing to a slight hue…. Her eyes turned to Remi. She snapped out of the trance swiftly and rushed over, sword sheathed once more. “Are you okay?” she questioned and helped her up. “I am a… halfling? What does that mean?”

The demon’s growl of a voice was a distant rumble in Remi’s ears. She pushed against the ground as all of the air was expelled from her lungs, the painful crunch of a few of her ribs separating from the cartilage echoed against her ear drums. Then suddenly the thick blood of the demon splashed over her. The weight was lifted away. Remi gasped for air as she rolled to her back to watch the spectacle. Her eyes widened slightly as she watched the glowing form of Delilah command the demon. Easily. Her jaw loosened as the demon fell to the spell, spilling the word halfling over his lips. Before she could react he’d turned to ashes before her and Delilah held a hand before her. Remi took the help as she grasped onto her sword and she stood. She looked to Delilah a long moment, searching her ocean blue eyes. “I’m not sure what he meant by that...” She breathed, “I’ve never met a halfling before.” She held her hand to her side as she sheathed her sword carefully.
The hawk cawed in the sky as it dove down. It perched upon Delilah’s shoulder and nuzzled against her, as if thanking her for aiding Remi. It ruffled its feathers a moment as it tilted its head, gazing to the woman. The hawk then spread its wings before it took off back into the skies. “Not much of a talker.” Remi gave a soft chuckle. “Cassiel will know what the demon meant by calling you that...he will know what Lucien would want with you...” Remi’s eyes fixated on Delilah a long moment before she walked forward. She limped slightly. The demon had done a number on her. She was weak and without her powers she didn’t heal as quickly as she would when she was an Archangel.
Remi walked forward in her uneven pace, her breathing shuddered. “I’ve never seen a human possess the ability to wield such magic, Delilah. You do not have the same magic as the Ambrosius line, no.” She shook her head then, “But you have a magic of your own caliber, something that the mages of the academy could only dream of having. Did you feel the power?” She questioned, with a raised brow, a bit of a smile upon her lips. “It courses through your body, almost like a warm embrace….it is welcoming, it draws you in and guides you forward, so long as you allow it.” The smile was more pronounced now, the curve of her lips added beauty to her expression. “When I was a young angel it took time for me to understand the magic.” She spoke, her eyes almost curious now. “I sat before the Archangels, Elijah was assigned to me. He would see to it that I learned my magic and learned the laws of the angels, what I can and cannot do.” She let out a soft chuckle then. “Funny that he was the one who ultimately had to toss me from the heavens, isn’t it?” She smirked and shook her head. “You know what though?” Remi questioned as they came to the crest of a hill. “If I was given a choice, to wind back the hands of time, I would make the same choice. I believe in the prophet, no matter how much I want to toss his judgement aside...I saw the future...he showed it to me. Demon or not...” Her voice lowered then.
The angel faltered in her steps, the front of her shoe caught on a rock sticking up from the trail. She stumbled slightly but easily caught herself as her body twisted to regain the balance. She grit her teeth and closed her eyes as she sucked in a breath. “Almost there, hm?” She gave a gentle smile again. Her eyes gazed back ahead to the town that they were approaching, nestled against the base of the mountain. “Cassiel lives there.” She lifted her hand and pointed to the snow caps of the mountain. “We will rest tonight and tomorrow morning we will brave the ice and snow.” She spoke as they came to the gates of the city.
Remi gazed up to the man that stood above the gate. “State your purpose.” The knight called down to her. Though his eyes widened slightly when they fell upon her face. “Remi!” He grinned. “Open the gates! Damn it open up the bloody gates!” The knight chuckled as he rushed off down the stairs. As the gates parted he rushed through the gates and threw his armored arms around him. “Gods, I thought you were dead girl! No letters? Huh?”
Remi winced and gasped as he held onto her tightly. “Gerald.” She choked out. “Easy.” Her expression contorted with pain.
The knight released her and stepped back though his hand stayed on her shoulder. He reached forward and brushed the bit of blood from her nose away. “What’s happened, Remi?” He asked. “I heard of the Saint Claire...” His voice was soft. “I’m truly sorry...” His eyes then moved to Delilah and he gave a gentle smile. “Come on then, the tavern ought to have some good ale this time of day, eh?” He wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
Remi gave a sad smile at the mentioning of the ship. “Yeah...I’m sorry too.” She breathed. Tears stung her eyes as she fought against the urge to sob. The thought of the men drowning and freezing to death...or worse their bones being broken by the raging waters. Then...the flash of Eli. Her jaw tensed as they stepped into the tavern.
Gerald led them to the rear deck and he gave a smile. “Ale?” He asked and looked to Delilah. “Don’t worry, it’s good. Best ale to buy around here.” He then stepped inside.
Remi gazed up at the snow capped mountain, her expression was soft, a sadness clung behind her eyes as she sniffled slightly.
The knight returned with three mugs sloshing about with the amber ales within. He set them down on the table and grinned. “Ah here we are.” He lifted his glass from the table. “Drink love, it’ll help you drown out the sorrows I see in your eyes.” He nodded.
Remi reached forward to the mug. Suddenly the mug was knocked from her hands in a flurry of white feathers. The hawk sat perched on the table before her, his claws clutching onto the mug of ale that was spilled upon the deck. Remi chuckled as she stood. “Perhaps drinking isn’t the brightest of ideas?” She looked to Gerald. “We’ve had a long day. Perhaps we can have a chat later?” She glanced to Delilah. “Lets get a room.” She nodded.
Remi walked from the back deck. She stepped to the counter and tossed a few coins down. “Room for two.” She spoke to the barkeep whom handed her a set of keys. She smiled before she climbed the stairs and walked down the hallway. 2. 3. 4. 5. Room number 5. The master suite. Fit for a king the barkeep had stated. Remi pushed the key into the tumblers and turned it slowly before she looked to Delilah a long moment. Her lips parted to speak but then she shook her head before she pushed the door open. The room held two beds and a dresser. A lantern burned between the two beds, it hung from a hook on the wall. Remi moved to one of the beds and she sat down, a long sigh escaped over her lips. “What if you are an angel?” Remi mused a smile upon her lips, “Half angel at least.” She grinned as she lay back on the bed. “But what would a demon want with you...what is it that you can do??”

“So….” Delilah thought for a long moment as her eyes glanced to the beautiful hawk that swooped infront of them. “Is Cassiel a fallen angel too? I am beginning to wonder how many are among us...” she rubbed her arm for a moment and then glanced to her. A flush of pink cascade over her cheeks as Remi suddenly bombarded her with compliments – to a degree.
“I rather not think about whatever power I have.” she shook her head “I’ve grown up being useless and now suddenly I have .. all of this?” she shook her head. “It’s like a dream, a foggy memory, the cases I’ve used it have been like an instinct – like someone takes me over and does it for me. I have no idea the extent of my abilities, and truly that scares me...” she took in a breath, hues glancing to Remi – noting that she was limping, and wounded. Though, Remi acted as if it was nothing…
“I went to the academy where the greatest of mages have gone, and I studied among them – I learned how to use magic even though I didn’t have it… the rules, the maintaining a balance, and so on. So, everything they taught… I’m starting to put together now. I am a walking time bomb, a risk to everyone around me… I always wanted to have magic, but hm… not like this” she chuckled. “Maybe to levitate something, or make my toast perfect every time, but not… fighting off demons and watching innocents die...”
Delilah sucked in a breath. “Sorry” she suddenly said. This was the most she had spoke since their meeting. She was rambling outloud now. “You might say that I have a gift and… I appreciate your support. I am stuck with this...” she sighed then and suddenly grasped Remi’s arm, steadying her as she almost fell. Her reaction time had nearly doubled since they initially touched, and it seemed with every bit of contact – the angel in Remi enhanced the angel in Delilah.
As they came upon the city – Delilah watched as she engaged with the knight. A small smile crawled across her lips. It seemed there was no inch of the world she had not wandered. Was it truly so – she traveled every where searching for… ‘the weapon’… She was lost in her thoughts about it as they sat in the pub.
“It was a pleasure to meet you Sir Gerald” Delilah bowed her head and followed. She chuckled slightly as the beautiful bird burst into the sky, happy with Remi’s choice… They made their way to the inn and to their room.
Delilah sat down on one of the beds and let out a happy groan. “Ah, how my rich spoiled self has missed the comfort of a bed...” she flopped back, her arms out above her. “A halfling… I mean, I would deduce that it would mean I am partial to something, human and angel? What would that mean then? My father has no idea of this, that is certain, but my mother – she always whispered to me that I was special. I figured it was some way to try and sooth me, but what if...” she sighed deeply. “This sort of thing does not go unhidden, why hide it, was it shame? Or ‘keep me safe’? Everyone knows that is some real garbage.” she gave a deep sigh.
“Let us hope your friend can give us more information….” she shook her head “but if it is all… a lie, then… I don’t know, I’d be very upset, and not to mention… their lie has everyone in my family endanger...”

Remi listened to Delilah’s rambling, a smile upon her lips. She could tell the woman was afraid. She doubted herself. She doubted everything really. Yes she’d seen the power, she’d felt it, but...after so many years of being nothing, now that she had something...it was hard to accept.
A chuckle came over Remi’s lips as Delilah mentioned being spoiled. She grinned then, a truly genuine smile. One that she hadn’t shared with Delilah since the moment they’d met. She hadn’t smiled much at all really. “Ahh to be a spoiled rich noble.” She hummed. “I can only imagine.”
Remi rolled onto her side, she winced slightly as pressure changed to her ribs. She gasped and closed her eyes as she adjusted herself so that she wasn’t causing herself more pain. She propped her head up and raised a brow. “So what if you’re half angel, hm?” She watched Delilah. “What if your mother called you special because you truly are….what if all of this...you….what if you are part of the plan to stop the demons? To end the apocalypse that they threaten to bring upon the world?” Remi grew tired of the pain in her side and she rolled to swing her feet over the edge of the bed. She stood and stepped off toward the bathroom in the corner of the room. Remi looked to herself in the mirror and let out a soft sigh. Her pale skin was concerning. She tilted her head slightly to look at the faint black lines upon her neck.
Remi turned to the faucet then and began to run hot water into the tub. How wonderful a bath would feel on her sore aching body. She poked her head from the bathroom and glanced to Delilah, she gave a soft smile. “Delilah.” She began as she stepped over. She sat down on the edge of the bed that Delilah lay in. Her hazel eyes looked to the woman, “I know you’re scared.” She spoke as she shifted slightly, her eyes were serious, yet calming in a strange way that Angels held. “You’re not a bomb waiting to go off, believe me. The magic that Angels hold does not work in such a way...but...” She paused and looked to her hands a moment, “I will do my best to guide you...that’s why I’m here right?” She gave a soft smile then before she slipped from the edge of the bed. “I’m going to pretend to be a spoiled rich noble and enjoy myself a bubble bath.” She grinned then, “They have some of the finest salts to add to the water here.” She slipped back into the bathroom.
Remi glanced to herself in the mirror again before she reached her hands behind her back. She untied the corset carefully and she took in a small breath. Without the corset she could really feel the cracks and breaks in her ribcage. “Damnit.” She muttered to herself. She unbuttoned the tunic and slipped it from her body. She lifted her arm up to look at her purple bruised side. She touched it and winced before she slipped her boots off. She then stepped from her pants and grasped a towel from the small linen closet. Remi lifted a bottle from her pouch that she wore around her hips. It was small and had hardly any liquid left in it. For emergencies – Elijah It was a bottle that she was given before he tossed her from the heavens. She’d used it sparingly over the years. Remi took the bottle and poured the last few drops into the water before she grabbed a handful of the bath salts from the shelf and tossed them into the steaming water as well.
Remi then climbed into the tub, a sigh escaped her lips as the warmth encapsulated her body. Bubbles lined the surface of the water concealing all but her knees and head from view. She leaned her head back and allowed her eyes to slip shut. The salts of the bath were like a warm embrace, the scent was of lavender. It was calming. So much so that Remi slipped unconscious, her head lulled to the side and she took in deep breaths, her muscles finally able to relax, her body healing from the magical potion she’d dripped into the water.
**
Remi stood upon a hill overlooking a fiery city. Tears welled in her eyes. “We have to stop them.” She went to rush forward.
Her arm was grasped by Elijah, his ocean blue hues looked to her, “Remiael.” He spoke his voice calm. “This isn’t your battle anymore, you are an Archangel now….”
“No.” Remi pulled her arm from his. “I am an Archangel and that is even more means for me to fight! For me to stand up and help the other angels! To defend the humans against the demons.” Her chest heaved. “Suddenly I am not capable of battle? Suddenly you won’t let me lift a finger against a single demon. What is going on, Elijah?”
Elijah sucked in a breath, he only offered a faint smile. “Remiael, in time everything will make sense to you. There is always a purpose. The prophet has told it so.” He looked back to the burning city.
“A purpose?!” Remi snapped. “To death? To all the lives that are being lost? What of the angels? Huh? If anything what of our own brothers and sisters?!” Remi made to move forward again.
Elijah grasped her arm, “Remi please.” He seemed to beg. “You must trust me.”
“How can I trust anyone that is willing to stand by idly and allow such a horrible thing to play out?” She lifted her hand up. Suddenly her body was enveloped why a white light. “I can’t just stand by anymore, Elijah. If I can’t be an Archangel because of it. So be it.” She rushed forward then. Suddenly a rift opened and she was slung into it. Remi screamed as she was tossed about, she held her wings close to her back as she tried to fight the wind that ripped against her body. Then she was tossed out and onto the ground. This was the future. She sat before the burning building...this is where the demon contacted her, where he told her to stop the attack on Argus. The very city that she was overlooking with Elijah just moments before...this is where it all began...
**
Remi shot up from the bathwater. Her head had slipped beneath the surface. She gasped for air. Water cascaded over her face as she took in deep shuddering breaths. She gripped the sides of the footed tub as her eyes searched her memories. Why weren’t they allowed to save Argus? Every city before that they saved. Then suddenly she wasn’t allowed to go into battle. Suddenly it was the prophets will. Remi drew her brows together as she pulled the plug from the drain. She stood from the water and wrapped the towel around her body. She gripped onto the sink as she took in quick breaths, thinking. Cassiel would have answers. He always had answers. When she was drunk she didn’t care. She missed that. She missed not caring. And yet she wanted to unravel all the mysteries. Remi reached into the linen closet and pulled out a thick plush robe. She set it upon the counter before she glanced to her side. The pain, the bruising. It was gone. Her skin seemed to glow as she looked into the mirror. At her full potential she was a sight to see, she’d turn heads that was for sure. Remi slipped from the towel and she pulled on the bath robes. She tied it around her waist before she brushed through her long strawberry blonde hair. She let out a relieved sigh as she stepped from the bathroom. Remi moved and lay on her bed. She pulled the blankets around her and within moments she was fast asleep.
