Remi glanced over to Raine as Hilda began to speak. Her cheeks turned a bit rosy from the attention. She shook her head and let out a soft laugh, “At least I can do something.” She spoke, “I only wish I could remember where I learned it.” Another laugh escaped over her lips. She fell quiet as Raine began to speak of the different gods. She drew her brows together in thought as she listened, taking everything in. A soft smile turned up her lips as she spoke of the Crom religion. A quiet God, one that didn’t require sacrifice. An interesting thought, but Remi could see Raine following that religion rather than the others. Each had their quirks it seemed. Everything seemed to strange and new. She truly had to be an outsider to these lands. But what had caused her to end up there? Why was she here?
In the midst of thought the commotion echoed over the lands and in a blink of an eye Raine had bolted forward. Remi rushed forward, she quickly removed her rucksack and and left it sitting on the ground as she ducked forward. She grasped the hilt of her sword and she slipped it from the sheath as another bandit swung at her. She rolled to the side and sliced at him. Remi shoved him forward and Gore tackled the man to the ground ripping him to shreds rather quickly. It was then that Raine called out to her. Her icy eyes followed the pointed finger to the home where the mother cried in agony begging the bandit to stop. Remi didn’t waste a moment as she rushed toward the home. She pointed the tip of her sword at the man’s neck. “Unhand her.” She spoke as the man continued.
The bandit looked to her and snickered. He shoved the woman’s face harder into the counter before he adjusted himself and stepped back, a devilish grin upon his lips. “Well, you’ll certainly be more fun than her. No fight in this one.” He licked his lips as he lunged forward. He was a brute of a man, he towered over Remi.
Remi dodged back and stepped to the side quickly. She swung the blade at the man only to catch his thick leather armor upon his arm. It barely cut through. The next moment her wrist was grabbed harshly and she was jerked forward. The bandit twisted her wrist as he gripped onto her causing her hold of her sword to be released. He was already shoving her back as Remi struggling against his brute force. She let out a cry as he slammed her against the wall. His hands moved to her belt about her waist and she shoved against him. The weight of his body was overpowering. He gripped her throat then as he pressed her against the wall. Her icy eyes stared to him, fear in her expression. The last 6 days flashed before her eyes. Arne flashed before her eyes. “Please...stop this...” She gripped onto his massive forearm.
The bandit licked his lips as he looked over her. “Please?” He pressed more against her. “Do you think begging me is going to get me to stop? I’ll miss out on all the fun.”
Remi’s chest heaved as she cowered slightly, she had nothing to defend herself with, he was overpowering her. The wind kicked up outside as fear racked her body. Deep dark storm clouds began to swirl into the area offering a display of vicious lightning. “Stop.” She pushed against him, fighting his hand that fumbled with her clothing. Her icy eyes looked up to him, bolts of lightning scattered across the blue of her iris. He slammed her against the wall, her head knocked back and bounced off of the wooden logs. Remi whimpered, her vision blurred and the storm cleared slightly. He gripped onto her and chuckled as he adjusted her nearly limp body from the blow.
The bandit licked his lips again. “Now then, if you don’t want me to do that again, you’ll stay right here.” He unclipped another belt about her hips. He fumbled with her as her head lulled forward, her arms hung slack to the sides. The bandit chuckled greedily as he pulled on his own belt. He gripped around her throat to hold her in place. Just as he was about to have his way, Remi’s eyes shot back open and she gripped onto his chest. A gust of wind pushed through the home and electricity rushed through his body. The bandit let out a groan of pain as he convulsed. Remi tackled him to the ground. She sat over him and she swung her fists into his face, blood splattered from his mouth. She then slipped his dagger from his hip and she stabbed it harshly into his chest. The metal sizzled, hot as molten lava as it sliced like butter into his body piercing into his heart.
Remi fell back from him as his eyes flashed with a white light. She was breathing heavily, her nose trickled a bit of blood as she scattered back away from the man. The storm settled down outside as she leaned her back against the wall and she sank to the floor. Her vision blurred as she closed her eyes, tears rolled over her cheeks.

A cry came out as the young boy gripped his arm, blood seeping through his fingers. Raine rushed over and fell to her knees before him, dust kicking up from her swift movements. She reached forward and ripped his tunic easily, grasping the cloth in her hands she pushed his hands away and tied it tightly around his small arm. “You have to be strong, hm?” she gripped his head and turned her gaze.
The clouds rolled in swiftly, lightning and thunder surrounded them. The young boy winced as he cried softly, his head buried into Raine’s chest. Her hues watched as Remi turned and gripped the man. Her fingers curling into his clothing – and then she watched as there was a huge flash. A bolt of lightning came down and burst into the man. Raine shielded the boy as she felt the heat and power of the bolt.
Then… there was peace. Raine slowly let go of him and stood, her eyes staring to Remi. She kneeled down before Remi, her knee placing between her legs – and she leaned in close. Raine cupped Remi’s jaw and lifted her gaze upward. Her blue hues searching Remi’s – she could see the storm in her eyes, the lightning striking down. “We must go” she whispered.
Raine tucked an arm under Remi’s knees, and another against her back and she lifted her with ease. She turned and walked from the house, glancing back at the mother who lay on the ground, breathing heavily as she watched. Raine lowered her eyes and continued forward, Gore just behind her heels.
She returned to her home, only about a 10 minute walk away, and pushed open the door. Raine then let Remi down on the bed and stepped back… she then grasped a damp cloth and stepped over to Remi once more. She dabbed away her bloodied nose and then stared to her for a long moment.
“Nearly a Thousand years ago… There was a God, his name is Xane. He was once the ruler of these lands… those ancient huge buildings – runes in the sand – were once that of great structures, buildings, cities and such. He was obsessed with knowledge, he wanted to learn of the worlds outside of this, or even in other realms…” she stood then and poured two glasses of ale and stepped over to hand it to her.
“So, he did.” she raised a brow and smirked. “He became very powerful, but with his discoveries… he went mad” she took a long swig. “The other gods – Yog, Darketo, Ymir, Mitra – they banded together and banished Xane” she glanced to Gore… he had his head lifted – listening to her as she spoke.
“In Xane’s anger he created the Sandstorm… a simple storm that never dies and roams between the Savannah all the way to the desert… The deserts became barren and the destroyed the rains that would fall upon it. The beasts became savage and hungry.. and even the northern blizzards would freeze even the strongest trees...” she lifted her gaze “and he created the purge… select beasts and humans become warped and frenzied, and they attack settlements – for the sole purpose of destroying humans” she sat down on the edge of the marble table in the kitchen, finishing off her drink.
“Many gods left this land...” she lifted a brow. “Their people too… and in that thousand years… It has never rained in the Desert - and even Rain in the savannah is a rarity… The Sandstorm has not visited since your arrival – which is nearly an every day occurrence...” then she drew in a breath. “And somehow you summon the storms, summon the rain, the wind and even command the lightning...” she set the cup down on the table…
“You… must be a god” she raised her hands up. “but you cannot remember who you are?” she crossed her arms. “You must have been cast out from the others, they swiped your memory for whatever reasons, and sent you to this hell hole to die” she shook her head. “a shame they did not seek pity on yu and kill you, instead you suffer amongst savages...” she heard a knock then.
Raine stepped over to the door – Bran and his mother, Yelana, stood at the doorway. “Yelana...” Raine lowered her gaze. “I am sorry, I do not think now is a good t-”
“Please… I have come to offer my services and goods to The God of Thunder...” She bowed her head and then stepped inside, pushing Raine aside. Gore stood – watching closely.
Yelana stood before Remi and then fell to her knees… she opened a sack – full of gold and gold items. A chalice, a necklace, so on, and laid them out. “Please, mighty god, please accept these tokens as my thanks, as my sacrifice to you and your actions today – as you saved me and my son...” she took in a sobbing breath. “A vision came to me in your wake – a vision of my husband, for I have finally been able to say good bye to him, and this is because of you” she looked up.
“My land, my services, my cattle, anything you please – I offer them to you...”
Bran was quiet, standing behind his mother… he had Remi’s leather bundle – holding her new glass tools… he slowly stepped forward and set them down on the ground too…
Raine lifted her hand and rested her forehead in it… she let a deep sigh out… but she did not intervene. She truly believed Remi was a god, and despite her wished, she would allow this woman to offer herself…

Raine’s words sounded as though they were beneath the crashing waves of the ocean. Remi gazed to her with her storm filled eyes, her breaths quick. When she was lifted she leaned against Raine, her eyes even closed to the even paces of the woman’s steps. When she was lowered to the bed Remi opened her eyes, the lightning had died away, her breathing had calmed. Her hearing had cleared and Raine’s voice was easy to hear as she spoke of history and the gods of old. “I’m...not...” The door was knocked on in that moment.
The next moments Yelana and Bran stepped into the room. Remi sat on the edge of the bed, her brows tucked together, her expression confused as she gazed at the woman. These offerings. What she said. She raised her brows, to deny it before her would crush her belief. It would crush her very being. To tell the woman she was incorrect, it could alter everything for them as they knew it. Remi glanced to Raine, she wasn’t sure what to do. She then slowly knelt on the floor before Yelana. She took her hands into hers and searched her eyes, “These offerings are incredible and everything that you cherish.” She spoke, her voice soft, her eyes caring. She cupped Yelena’s cheek. As she touched the woman her eyes glowed slightly. She took in a breath. The spirit of her husband it still clung to Yelena.
Remi took in a breath as she glanced to the side and upward. The spirit of her husband stood next to them. “Do you see him?” She questioned softly. Her icy eyes then looked back to Yelena whom began to cry as she looked to her husband. Remi stood slowly she reached a hand forward. “He’s watching over you, a guardian, afraid to leave these plains.”
The spirit reached to Remi’s hand and took it a moment before he nodded. His eyes took on the glow of Remi’s eyes. He stepped to Yelena and pulled her into a tight embrace before he stepped to his son and did the same. “You will be safe now, you have someone to protect you. Fate has willed it so my love.” He spoke as he kissed Yelena’s cheek. He then stepped to Remi and gave her a slight nod.
Remi reached forward, her hand cupped his cheek. “Rest well. May the Gods protect your soul.” She spoke, it was natural...nothing about this felt strange...it was as if she’d done it a thousand times. Remi then took Yelena’s hands into her own a soft smile upon her lips. “I do not seek gold, nor do I seek other objects of possession.” She glanced to Bran, “You need to keep your gold so that you can raise your son...if you were to give everything away, what life would you have left?” She searched the woman’s eyes.
Yelana looked to her, her breath trembled within her chest. “E-every god requests offerings...” She searched her eyes. “You must want something...wh-why would you do such things...and not expect anything?”
Remi took in a breath, she reached forward and took the roll of glass tools from Bran, she cupped his cheek and ruffled his hair slightly. “These tools are all that I need. Thank you for returning them.” She took her rucksack from his back. “You’ll grow to be strong, like your father, hm?” She stood from him and hugged the roll of tools to her chest. She took a step and faltered slightly. Her brows pulled together as the world spun. Suddenly darkness caved in around her vision. “R-Raine...” She choked as she fell to her knees, the tools and rucksack fell to the floor as she collapsed.
**
Remi stood upon a mountaintop her hand upon the hilt of her beautiful sword. She glanced to her right as snow crunched behind her. “Xane.” She spoke and offered a nod.
The man offered a smile as he stepped up to her, his wings were not pure white, instead the feathers were black as the night. He wore dark robes and a hooded cloak that cast shadows over his glowing orange eyes. “Archangel Remiael.” He smirked from the shadows of his cloak. “You’ve been looking for me.” He chuckled.
Remi watched him, her hand still rest upon her blade, her posture was relaxed. “Yes, I’m surprised that you’ve….come to me and that I did not have to find you.” She searched his eyes. “You know of the charges against you.” She glanced to a storm that brewed within the desert lands, ripping up trees and tearing the living to shreds.
Xane chuckled as he tilted his head. “Hm well if the others would play nicely.” He shrugged. “I’ve done nothing wrong, Remiael.”
Remi sucked in a breath as she turned to fully face him. She motioned toward the storm, her brows drawn together. “Oh, what do you call that, hm?” She questioned.
“Nothing.” He smirked as he leaned in closer to her. “Why don’t you ask Yog?” His voice lowered slightly.
Remi didn’t budge as she stared into his amber glowing eyes. Her own icy eyes began to glow white. “Xane.” She took in a breath. “You’ve driven yourself mad with power. Look at you.” She still didn’t move. “Look at your wings, look at your eyes and skin. You already look like a damn demon. You’ve fallen.” She didn’t move her gaze from him. “You’ve done so much more than the others, simply toying with the humans is much different...slaughtering them for fun? Destroying their homes?” She scoffed. “You have no right, Xane.”
Xane growled as he stared to her. “I figured of all the angels you would understand, Remiael.” He raised a brow. “Or have you forgotten who you are?” With that he shoved her harshly over the cliff.
**
Remi let out a cry as she sat up quickly. She gasped in air she scrambled and fell to the floor as she lost her balance. “Xane...” She breathed. She glanced to Raine, her eyes held lightning within them. “I...I knew Xane...” Her breaths trembled. “I stood with him...I fought with him...” She stood and glanced to her hip, “My sword...” She sighed softly. “I remember it...what it feel like...” She then shook her head as she looked back to Raine. “I’m...not a god Raine...” She breathed, “I...Xane called me an Archangel...” She searched her eyes. She didn’t know what to say, what to think of it all. She bit her lower lip. “But...why...why can’t I remember?” Her expression was troubled.

Raine raised a brow as Remi declined the offerings, she was quite the benevolent god – thus far. She wondered how long it would take for the corruption to sink in… Any being with power would soon seek it to benefit them. However, Remi did seem different… she had to have been some kind of holy god, but then… why was she cast down upon the exile lands?
Raine turned her gaze to the spirit that formed – it was then that her jaw dropped. She watched as the two finally got to said goodbye. Just before the husband disappeared – Raine stepped forward. “Travis” she called out. The spirit turned his gaze and he smiled. “I’ll watch over them…” she smiled then. “Drink with the Gods” she glanced to Bran – who was crying now. Travis knelt down briefly and took his sons hand and then kissed the tops of them.
As he looked up – he then disappeared. Raine sucked in a breath and then glanced to Remi… for a moment… she wished to see Percy, to tell him she was sorry.
Suddenly Raine gasped and rushed forward, her arms wrapped around her and she steadied the woman. Remi’s eyes had glazed over, glowing a bright white… She held her until she finally came to. Raine looked to her and then glanced to Bran and his mother. “Thank you… I think you both should return home...” she stood then and helped the two out.
“I’d still love the milk in the morning” she smiled. Bran nodded and lead his mother home… Raine then turned around and shut the door. “An Archangel...” she raised a brow. “What we know of the Gods isn’t much….” she sat down on the ground. “I… don’t even know what to tell you” she perked up. “The gods themselves, they walk these lands – but they remain hidden, and only emerge to do the occasional miracle, to accept their goods, and hide away again.. but there is one” she stood. “Crom” she stepped over to her book shelf and pulled a scroll out.
She unraveled it, it was a map of the Exiled Lands. “Here...” she pointed to a spot on the map, it was just below the northern snowy escape. “This strip here is the Highlands, he lives on the Mountain here… but most who venture – never come back to tell the tale, lets just say he doesn’t like visitors.. but” she crossed her arms. “You… are like him, maybe… maybe he will entertain you, maybe he can help. If you knew Xane, then surely Crom should know you...”
“Do you want to go? Or… did you want to take some time to rest?” she questioned. “I.. don’t know if it is wise that you might gain a following, not yet… not until you know who you are...” she smirked. “God of Thunder?” she chuckled then. “But first… we shall eat” she tossed some wood into the stove and lit it aflame.
“What if the Gods we think are Gods are not actually Gods?” she held a spatula up as she thought out loud. “Archangel...” she raised a brow. “All things are unraveling, and it sounds like we have it all wrong...” she laughed then. “Comical, I think...” she shook her head as she stirred the rice and venison that she had tossed into the skillet… After a bit – she had finished up and served it onto two plates.
“I wonder though… are you having visions? Memories?” she questioned. “It seems like pieces of you are coming back.. but how, or why?” she raised a brow as took a bite of her food...

Remi stood slowly, her eyes looked to Yelena and Bran as they left. She drew her brows together and looked to her hands which trembled slightly. She moved to the table and sat quietly as she listened to Raine speak. She took a long drink for the ale and a soft smile curved up the edges of her lips to the flavor. This drink was unlike anything she’d had before. She looked to the map as it was set on the table before her. “If I am a god...” She looked to Raine, “Why would he want to speak to me...it is clear that whatever I am...I am not wanted.” She bit her lower lip. “Maybe now is not the best time to attempt to meet him, I cannot even tell him who I truly am. Unless he knows me as Xane did but...”
Remi sucked in a breath. “I...I have been having memories, they are fuzzy and...some don’t make any sense at all...” She thought a long moment about the memory that had pushed into her mind just recently. “I think it has something to do with the spirits...or my power...” She looked up to Raine. “The memories...perhaps when my memory was taken away they did not expect me to regain the use of my powers? Each time...something happens...I see the visions of my past. I didn’t speak of it before because...it didn’t make sense...but if the storms and if all of this is me.” Remi drew her brows together. “It must be just more than dreams, hm?” She rubbed her bruised wrist and thought a moment. “Xane...I am the one who banished him...” Her voice was soft. “I was sent after him. I said something to him in the memory. That he had fallen” She drew her brows together. “He had glowing amber eyes and...black wings...I...” Remi paused and shook her head. “I cast him out...what if your gods...are angels? Or demons?”
She thought a long moment, “I had a dream the other night...I knelt in the snow, over a wounded man...he had a deep gash in his chest, there was blood everywhere...” Her eyes glowed slightly as she thought of the memory. The power within her was incredible. So much that it seemed as though she was almost too powerful for her own good. “I released the soul from the warrior...I guided him to the gods...” She lifted her icy eyes to Raine, “I think...that was my job...” She took another drink of her ale. “I also fought demons...I stopped demons from killing humans...I saved lives...I...had a dream last night of it...”
Remi ran her fingertip along the top of her glass. “Xane called me Archangel Remiael….so...I suppose I do have a title.” She let out a soft laugh and shook her head, “But he also said something else to me in the vision...he asked me if I had forgotten who I am...” She thought hard only to come up with nothing. “I don’t know what he meant, but in the dream...I...was very frustrated, it coursed through my body...I could feel my power surging...” She looked to her hands as she fell silent. She looked over the scroll before her, taking in the Exile Lands. She traced her finger over where Raine stated that Chrom was known to live. “What do you know of Angels and Demons?” She looked to Raine curiously. “I...had wings...” She breathed. “I was awakened to a burning sensation in my back last night...I did not speak of it, because I did not know what to make of it...” She lowered her eyes then. “Why...would they remove my wings?” Her eyes were watery as she thought of the feeling of flight.
The angel took in a breath, “What have I done to be cast out in such a way?” She whispered, thunder rolled outside slightly from her emotions. “I...only wanted to help...I...” She let out a breath. “I must find my sword, I...I think if I find it I will remember...” She looked up to Raine. “Whatever I am...whatever I have done...”
