Vox smirked and chuckled, “Of course, you’re allowed that.” He raised a brow and lingered a moment before he stepped off to his own room. The demon stripped his shirt from his body and he stood before the tall mirror. His eyes looked over the nearly healed gash across his chest from the Belial demon. He took in a breath as he ran his fingertips over it. He held scars along his body from wars and battles over the years. The worst however were the deep scars upon his back where his wings had once attached to his body. He only glanced for a moment before he ran his fingers through his hair and he let out a sigh. He slipped into the attached bathroom and he stripped himself of the rest of his clothing before he climbed into the hot shower to wash away the blood and grim of the subway.
Vox emerged from the shower and he pulled on a pair of black pants that fit him well enough to show that he was a muscular individual. He pulled on a black form fitting shirt and over the top of that he pulled on a black button down shirt which he tucked into the pants before he pulled a belt around his hips. He slipped his feet into a pair of his own skater style shoes that were all black before he brushed his fingers through his hair. He stepped from his room and found Krysta on the couch awaiting him. “A woman that gets dressed more quickly than I do.” He smirked though his eyes fell upon the cane and his jaw stiffened.
The demon cleared his throat slightly, “Ari had that in the closet huh?” He raised a brow as he tapped the cane with his toe. “Interesting that she’s kept that around for such a long time.” He scoffed and nearly rolled his eyes before he shrugged it off and a smile curved up his lips again. “The hair, I like it.” He motioned to her hair. “Much more presentable than before.” He smirked to her. “Come on, we have places to be.” He turned and walked toward the door. He held the door open for her and gave her ample amount of time to walk through it before he followed her to the elevator and he scanned his thumbprint into the system. “Eventually….” Vox cleared his throat as he stepped onto the elevator. “If I trust you enough, I might allow you to have access to the elevator.” He chuckled. “But that’s something that must be earned you see?”
Vox led her from the elevator, the barkeep eyed Krysta curiously, other demons that sat within the bar seemed to be curious as well as their eyes seemed to gravitate toward the two. Vox ignored them though it seemed, but he did flash a smile to a few of the demons. They must have been higher ranking, deserving of his attention. When they stepped out onto the streets Vox slowed to Krysta’s side. “The streets, as you know can be rather dangerous. It is in your best interest to stay close to my side.” He looked to her, “Especially with your leg how it is. Though it is good to see that you can manage to walk on it. That was a nasty wound.” He noted as he continued on. The demon fell silent as he walked on for several blocks, turning and walking down this street and that, down this alley and through other back streets. To some that didn’t know the city it might have felt like they were going in circles, but Vox knew exactly where he was going.
Vox smirked to her, “You asked to know more of the circle and of the higher demons.” He spoke as his hand rest upon a door knob. “Here is a little taste.” He pushed the door open. Vox reached his hand out, “You’ll want to take my hand.” He spoke as he laced his fingers into hers he smirked to her before he helped her down a flight of stairs and into when appeared to be a club of some sort.
“Vox!” A demon approached with a wide grin. “My man.” The demon pat his back and chuckled. “We thought you were a goner after we saw your place man.” His eyes then moved to Krysta and he licked his lips. “Who’s this?” He questioned curiously.
“She’s with me.” Vox replied, “So you don’t need to worry about it.” He shot a glare to the demon as he led Krysta forward, his grip tightened on her hand slightly as he pulled her through the floor of demons. Humans were mixed into the crowd, women and men dressed to impress. The humans all seemed to be lingering with a demon or two, or looking for one that was free to approach. “They had places like this before the apocalypse.” Vox spoke. “A speakeasy...you know?” He nodded as he led her through the people. “Stay with me and you’ll be just fine, pull away and your like a fresh piece of meat to them.” He chuckled as he pushed through a doorway. He walked into a room with a single table in the center of it. “Sit.” He pulled a chair out and motioned for her to take a seat. “We are about to have a very important meeting with the dark lord himself.” He sat down in a seat next to her.
Seconds later the door pushed open and a man with short well kept black hair walked into the room. He had a fine stubble to his well chiseled jaw. He was dressed in a button down shirt as well as black slacks. He stepped forward and set a black metal box upon the table. “Who’s this fine specimen?” The demon questioned as his dark emerald eyes looked over Krysta.
Vox watched the demon before him. “Just another human, my assistant for the day.” He spoke as he grasped the metal box.
The demon sat down across from them and gave a smile. “Well, well. You’ve finally found a human that you fancy then, hm?” He looked Krysta up and down as if she was a piece of candy in a shop that he could pick up.
Vox opened the box before him. “I suppose.” He replied with a flat tone. “What’s this then?” He asked as he pulled a piece of paper from the box.
“Instructions. There is a human camp about 30 clicks to the south, they’ve been causing trouble. Killing off demons. I need you to take care of them.” The demon spoke bluntly. “Everything is in there, you need to complete this as soon as possible before they cause any more of a ruckus.”
“What have they done thus far?” Vox questioned curiously.
“A few of the local demons went that way and came up missing. That’s enough isn’t it?” The demon growled back at him. “Now, be gone.” He glanced to Krysta, “You can stay if you’d like.” He snickered.
Vox drew his brows together as he shoved the papers into his pocket. He stood and bowed to the demon before him. “Consider it taken care of, but she will not be staying.” He grasped Krysta’s hand once again and he pulled her from the room. His expression was full of irritation as he snaked through the crowd and towed Krysta along toward the outside world. Once they emerged outside into the sunlight Vox let out a long breath as he released her hand. “There, Lucifer himself. Different than you imagined him to be, isn’t he? He gives us of the circle orders. We must obey those orders otherwise he will kill us. In return I get to have the things that I have….” He smirked to her though the curve in his lips disappeared quickly as he focused his attention back on their surroundings.

While Krysta waited she closed her eyes to rest for a moment. Her mind quickly drifted off as she entered an in between state of consciousness. Not quite asleep but not fully awake either. It was a good way to get a bit of sleep when she was on the move and couldn't take the time to actually get comfortable. The only downside was her sense of time was muddled a bit and when she heard Vox's footsteps on the hard floor she wasn't sure how long she had been sitting. She opened her eyes just as he started to speak and rolled her shoulders to work out a stiffness that had started to settle there.
Him not liking that she had found the cane was an interesting reaction. She had just figured the demons had all sorts of odds and ends but apparently this particular piece held some significance. Not that she would leave it behind. It greatly helped with her leg. "Glad you approve." She stated with only a slight hint of sarcasm as he complimented her hair. Getting up from the couch was easier now with the added leverage and she managed to walk with only minor difficulty. The tight pants helped keep pressure on the wound and supported the muscle as she stepped. "Aww you'd give me the keys to your place?" She asked once they were in the elevator, ignoring the other demons who stared at them for her own sake.
Once they were outside on the street she kept up with him with minimal effort at first, but as they continued to walk for several blocks it became more difficult. She needed sleep. One night's rest and then she might feel better, but currently she wanted to just cut her damned leg off. When they finally arrived at their destination her hand that held onto the head of the cane was shaking slightly. Yes, she did want to know more of the Dark Circle, but right now she really just wanted to sit down for a minute. Then as he interlaced his fingers with hers she almost pulled her hand away before she heard the music of the club coming from down the stairs.
As she saw the massive amount of demons mingling with humans she wasn't so keen on letting Vox slip away and even grasped his hand in return as he was greeted by another one of the unholy beings. The way he looked at her she couldn't decide if he was attracted to her or wanted to take a bite out of her flesh. Maybe a little of both? Either way she let Vox pull her through the crowd, and managed to make it through without tripping someone with her cane. While they had been walking through she had been more than a little disturbed with the amount of humans who practically begged and pleaded for attention from their demonic masters. It was sickening to watch as one woman groveled at the feet of a demon who showed more interest in a conversation that he was holding with another demon at across his table.
When they entered another, separate room she didn't argue when Vox instructed her to sit down at the table. She did so gladly and gave a small sigh of relief. That was until she heard who they were meeting and she looked over at him as if he had just said Santa Claus was going to be joining them for dinner.
As the door opened and another man entered the room Krysta's spine went ridged. The entire atmosphere of the room shifted as he set the box down on the table and began his conversation with Vox concerning both her and the apparent orders he was issuing. The entire time they were seated Krysta's eyes never left Lucifer and she couldn't help but wish she had her gun on her at that moment. One shot, between the eyes, and this was all over. Even when he smiled at her saying she could stay she never let her eyes leave his face. She committed every detail she could about him to her memory. Then again it would be hard to forget the face of the Devil anytime soon.
The meeting was short and soon Vox was towing her back through the crowded club and back out onto the street. "No, he's exactly as Domiel described." She replied to Vox in a flat tone. "And for some reason that makes me hate Domiel just a little more. That he knew Lucifer's face and yet he refuses to go out and fight himself." She sighed and looked back towards the door they had just come out of and shook her head. "Sad to see so many people have just given up." She commented under breath then turned back to Vox. "Well, any other errands you got?" She was still a bit shaky from the effort of walking so far but she offered no complaint and would keep going if need be.

Vox only smiled to Krysta’s flat tone. He knew Domiel knew exactly what Lucifer looked like. Of course he did. Lucifer was the first angel to fall by Domiel’s hand after all. He glanced toward her as she spoke, he heard what she muttered under her breath quite clearly and a smirk curved up his lips. “What you think the angel would come out of his safe little cocoon to hunt down Lucifer?” He raised a brow. He moved swiftly then, his hand gripped the front of her flannel shirt and he’d drawn the pistol from his thigh and held it to the side of her head. “Would you wish to be in the reverse situation? To stare into Lucifer’s eyes as you hold a gun to his head? To watch the fear filter through his being as you threaten to end his soul?” He held her close as he gazed into her eyes. He had an oddly amused smile upon his lips as he stared down to her. He held her there for several seconds before he released his grip and his gun was holstered back on his thigh, laughter came over his lips. “Darling, you can’t kill Lucifer.”
He had his hand on her shoulder to steady her. “Especially not in your condition now. No, you’re far too shaky.” He’d noticed how she’d slowed down, how she trembled and how she quickly took the chair when he’d offered it to her. He’d even noticed when she gripped his hand more tightly while they were in the club. “No, you can’t kill Lucifer.” He gazed into her eyes and tilted his head slightly. “No alone.” The amused look came over his expression again. “Domiel can’t even kill Lucifer. He knows it. That’s why he hides in his little sanctuary, your people are feeding him everything that he wants. He couldn’t care less for the state of the world so long as he has his needs met.”
Vox turned then and his eyes gazed up to the sun that was beginning to set over the city. “I always have plenty of errands to run.” He turned back to look to her, his eyes moved down to her leg, he could see a bit of blood soaked through the tight fitting pants and he grumbled slightly. “However, I think we should call it a night, hm? Get you home. It appears you’ve torn a stitch, perhaps I shouldn’t have let you walk so far on that leg.” He then smiled, “Besides, we have steak for dinner, hm?” Vox moved next to her side then. He nodded to her, “I’m going to give you a bit of help, more than the cane can offer.” He grasped her arm and pulled it around his shoulders, he had to hunch forward to do this, his arm wrapped around her waist and he lifted up to help her walk forward. “Do you truly think that killing Lucifer would end the apocalypse? Is that the words that Domiel has fed you?” He questioned after a few moments.

As Vox grabbed her shirt she dropped the cane and gripped his wrist and just barely stopped herself from twisting his wrist to get him to let go when she felt the barrel of the gun press to the side of her head. While she listened to him talk she simply stared back into his eyes without ever blinking or trying to pull away from the vulnerable position he held her in. No, she never expected Lucifer to hold fear in his eyes or cower before her if she held his life within her hands. She wasn't one for playing games with another's life. She did what was necessary and nothing more. If given the opportunity she would pull the trigger without hesitation and complete the task. Even when he mentioned Domiel not being able to kill Lucifer she had actually figured that out very quickly after the apocalypse, but it was the principle of the matter. He did very little to help humanity when he was supposed to be a guiding hand. Although his comment on her not being able to kill Lucifer alone was an interesting thought. Maybe he did know something.
Though she was glad that he was willing to call and end to their little outing she groaned as he lifted her arm over his shoulder to aid her in walking without having to put almost any weight on her leg. She leaned down to get the cane before hand as to not leave it behind. "Even if killing Lucifer doesn't end the apocalypse it can't hurt to rid the world of him." Her answer to his question wasn't exactly what he wanted but it was the one she gave anyway.
As they continued to walk back to the penthouse she mostly kept quiet but as they rounded a corner and she saw the building the had started in she sighed. "You can't imagine what it's like for us humans. We lived for centuries not knowing what the truth was about religion, angels, demons or what was really waiting for us after death. We were told to simply believe blindly but when a person has free will it's hard to hold onto faith with nothing more to go on than stories that are more myth and fact. Then this war between Heaven and Hell lands with us in the middle. At least when you guys fell from Heaven you knew why. Whether it was betrayal or something that you did to earn you the punishment. We're being killed and enslaved when we were left in the dark for nearly our entire existence." She scoffed. "If his 'Holiness' is really supposed to be the father of both angels and humanity he's the shittiest parental figure I've ever heard of."

Vox was surprised that Krysta didn’t question him or challenge his words. He was surprised that she didn’t flinch or try to pull away, in fact he was impressed by her composure. Most humans, even demons or angels flee from the thought of death. Then again perhaps she knew he wasn’t going to kill her, that he was merely getting his point across. He let out a chuckle to her response to his open question. “Darling, if it were so, don’t you believe he would have been dealt with centuries ago?” He spoke as he continued to help her along. His brows tucked together as she spoke more. “No. Not all of us knew why, or what was done.” He spoke in a darkened tone. “Not every demon deserved to have their wings ripped from their back agonizingly slow.” He sucked in a deep breath but he didn’t elaborate as he helped her inside of the high rise complex. He scanned his thumb in and up they went. He helped her inside the home and he deposited her onto the couch. “I’ll get dinner started then.” He spoke as he stepped to the kitchen. The wine bottle sat on the counter, Ari had left it and run off to complete a few tasks for Lucifer.
Vox poured a glass and carried it over to Krysta, he watched her a moment. “Do try not to spill this one, hm? This is a rather expensive wine, Ari really went out of her way to gain this one for us to drink this evening.” He set the crystal glass down upon the table before he returned to the kitchen. He seasoned the steaks and soon enough he’d stepped out onto the balcony and was cooking upon the grill.
Ari walked through the doorway and a grin split her lips. “Don’t you look, lovely.” She spoke as she walked up to Krysta. “Trying to impress, hm?” She winked to her before she walked into the kitchen and she poured her own glass of wine. “Oh your leg.” She spoke as she noticed the blood on her pant leg. “Let me have a look, hm?” She gave a smile as she stepped over and she carefully lifted the pant leg. Ari tilted her head as she examined the wound. “I’ve got just the thing for you.” She spoke as she stood and disappeared into the back room. She returned with a small pouch which she opened and she pulled out sutures and another vial of powder. This one was white. Ari lifted the vial and stepped into the kitchen. She hummed to herself with a smile as she mixed the powder with water and then with the tip of a blade she pierced her finger just enough to release a single drop of blood into the liquid. It turned a strange orange color as she came back to Krysta’s side.
“I heard you met Lucifer.” She spoke as she poured the liquid over the wound and she slipped new sutures into her skin. It was fluid, as if she’d done it a thousand times. “Handsome guy isn’t he?” She smiled playfully. “How was it?” She asked curiously. “Did you have any questions?” Ari wrapped bandaging around Krysta’s leg. The drop of her blood into the mixture would cause Krysta’s wound to heal. It gave her the healing properties of a demon for a very short period, which gave her leg the ability to heal quickly and effectively. Even now Ari didn’t hold her side, she looked perfectly healthy. The pain she’d shown before seemed to be gone.
Ari’s eyes glanced to Vox whom stood on the balcony with a glass of wine in hand, his elbows leaned upon the railing. Smoke came from the grill as he cooked their food. It would be a feast, beans and potatoes to go along with the steaks. Ari took in a breath and sighed before she drank from her wine glass. Afterwards she packed the medical supplies back away. “You’re lucky you were with a demon when this wound happened. Truthfully, you would have died hours ago.” She spoke before she slipped away only to returned with just the wine glass in her hand. Ari sat down across from her and crossed her legs as she looked to the human curiously, a smile upon her lips.

Vox's response to her statement was a bit odd. She hadn't mean to say that all of them deserved it but merely that they knew the whole picture between heaven and hell while the humans were left up to faith. He seemed upset and though she wanted to correct him she felt he probably wouldn't listen or understand at this point. So she sighed and stayed quiet the rest of the way to the penthouse.
She grunted when he deposited her on the couch but felt relief as she got to rest her good leg that was now also sore from supporting her limping gate. She was rubbing the thigh of her good leg when he brought the glass of wine over, telling her not to spill it, and though the thought crossed her mind she refrained and took a sip instead. She hadn't drank any alcohol in over a year. Ever since the apocalypse had started. Drinking wasn't part of survival so she never partook in the celebrations people had over small victories. She kept her head straight and planned the next course of action.
When Ari returned from where ever it had been she'd run off to Krysta raised an eyebrow at her when she asked if she was trying to impress someone. Who the hell would she be trying to impress? Vox? There was no way she wanted any more attention than she already had from the demon. When she saw Ari go and collect more sutures she tensed and turned her head away form the woman as she started to pour the orange liquid over her wound. She was a bit surprised that when Ari began to stitch her closed once more she didn't feel the pain she thought she would from the suture. It was like she was just being pinched slightly rather than having a needle pushed through her skin.
"I can't say that he's really my type." Kyrsta responded to Ari's comment about Lucifer being handsome. "I guess I do have one question." She glanced back to the balcony where Vox was cooking the steaks. "Why do you all keep up the human appearances? It's not like you have to hide. Even Lucifer looked like a normal person to the naked eye. I understand why the angels hide their wings. They can get in the way in small spaces." She honestly wasn't being mean and her tone was genuinely curious. No motive to gather information for later use just something she had always wondered.

Ari grinned when Krysta spoke, “Hm, if he isn’t your type then what is?” She slipped the question in quickly, her voice full of play. When the question came from the human the demoness leaned back slightly and swirled the wine around in her glass. She seemed to think over her response as her tasseled red hair fell into her eyes. She brushed the bangs away and then she finally leaned back forward. “Who is to say that this isn’t my demon form?” She questioned and then winked. Ari took another sip of her wine and sighed happily. “I’ve had red hair and green eyes for as long as I can remember.” She giggled slightly. “However, Lucifer.” She clicked her tongue and shook her head. “To be honest, I’ve only seen him slip from his facade a few times in the past….several centuries. It was maybe...” She paused to think and her nose wrinkled up slightly. “He received the blunt end of his holiness’ stick for the crimes he committed against the heavens. To be honest Lucifer stays in his human form because well...” She grinned as she looked to Krysta, “Even demons are afraid of what’s beneath that mask.”
Ari shifted slightly, “Though, you’ll find that some demons barely change when you see their other side, when they let their mask fall. Vox for instance, he doesn’t change much does he?” She questioned, she wasn’t sure if Krysta had seen Vox’s demonic form. “Just a few small horns here, tipped ears….oh of course we all have the affliction of our eyes...well I shouldn’t say all now should I?” Ari smiled before she took another drink of her wine. “It will vary from demon to demon what form they take. To be honest I keep my angelic form, minus my wings of course, as do other demons like Vox, he is a spitting image of what he was in heaven. Tall dark and handsome, hm...” She hummed slightly as her eyes strayed to look to the back of Vox as he flipped the steaks around on the grill. “With a touch of edge...” She acted like she was putting a cherry on top of a sundae and then she chuckled before her eyes looked back to Krysta.
“That didn’t answer your question very well now did it?” Ari raised a brow before she stood and walked around the coffee table. The demoness sat next to the demon hunter then, her shoulder against Krysta’s a smile on her lips as she crossed one leg over the other. “Lucifer.” She whispered as she looked into Krysta’s eyes. “He has 4 horns that curl out from his head, which is shaped more like that of a goat. His fingers are claws that could easily stab through most enemies, his ribs show through in a sickening way. Yet, you know you’re about to die when you look into his glowing red eyes as his thick leathery wings block out the sun.” Ari smirked as she stopped her sentence suddenly. She gave a shiver and then giggled playfully. “Sounds like something from a book, doesn’t it?” She questioned softly before she leaned her head back against the couch. If Krysta had been in a better position, if she had her blade she could have easily killed Ari in this moment. The demoness wasn’t defensive at all, she was completely relaxed and almost trusting in a way.
“You know...” Ari spoke after she took the last sip of her wine and she stared at the empty glass with a frown. “I think Vox is your type.” She winked and then giggled as she stood up and headed into the kitchen. She glanced outside a moment to Vox whom was looking out over the city once again. “Yeah...that’s who you were trying to impress, hm?” Ari brought the entire wine bottle over then. “More wine?” She asked as she poured a bit more into Krysta’s glass before she filled her own glass and she set the bottle down on the table. “Don’t worry, I brought home a few bottles.” She winked as she sat down next to her once more. Ari leaned her head back again and let out a sigh of relief after she took a drink of her wine. “Wouldn’t it be nice to kill Lucifer?” Ari spoke a smile on her lips, her eyes still closed. She waited a brief moment before she gazed to Krysta with her emerald eyes, though she didn’t speak now she searched the human’s eyes as she awaited her response.
“Ari.” Vox’s voice spoke as the door opened from the balcony. “What are you doing?” He questioned as he walked into the kitchen.
“Entertaining our guest. Right, doll?” Ari smiled. “Besides, you did a terrible job of suturing this poor girl’s leg, I couldn’t let her bleed out on us.” She stood quickly and grasped the wine bottle as she moved into the kitchen. She poured more wine into Vox’s glass as she slipped around him, her hand trailed against his back as she peeked around him to the steaks and other items that he had prepared. “Oooo.” She licked her lips. “This looked excellent.” She grinned.
Vox looked to her hand on his hip and then he looked to her and smirked. “Entertaining her?” He questioned with a raised brow. “Do you need entertainment, darling?” He asked with a chuckle. “I imagine she is exhausted and hungry, love.” He looked back to Ari whom was idly sipping from her glass of wine. “And you know that you’re much better at sutures than I am.” He winked and grinned. Their relationship was one that could confuse almost anyone. One minute he seemed to be ordering her around or even lashing out at her, another he was joking and smiling and throwing out endearing names. “Would you set the table?” He asked Ari as he began serving up the food on plates.
“Of course.” Ari took the plates as he prepared them over to the beautiful glass top table that sat overlooking the city. It truly was a view to have.
Vox then made his way to Krysta as Ari grabbed a few bottles of wine to take to the table. He looked to her leg and then his eyes looked to Ari a moment, a slight frown in his expression. He then brought his eyes back to Krysta. “Your leg looks much better now, hm?” He nodded and then reached down. “Come on, I’ll help you get to the table and then you can rest for the evening if you’d like.” Vox wrapped her arm once again around his shoulders. He then scooped his arm under her legs and he lifted her up. “I don’t want you tearing out any more sutures, darling.” He winked as he carried her over to the table. He nodded to Ari as she pulled a chair out for her and he carefully set her down. “There we are.” He pushed her in and Ari set Krysta’s glass of wine next to her plate.
Ari sat down across from Krysta with a smile upon her lips as she looked to the human. She knew her final question must have been burning into Krysta’s mind. Vox cleared his throat as he sat at the head of the table. “Let’s eat.” He spoke as he lifted his steak knife. He pointed it at Krysta with a smirk upon his lips. “Don’t get any ideas just because I let you have a knife, hm?” He chuckled as before he put his first bite of steak into his mouth.
Ari giggled from across the table, “Vox is that any way to treat your guest? She isn’t an animal is she? Should we have her in a cage and feet her though a slot? She doesn’t seem that aggressive.” She smirked to Krysta then. “I like her, Vox.” Ari spoke, “She’s a good one to keep around.” She grinned then.
Vox looked to Ari and his smile flattened slightly and an uneasy look came over his expression as his eyes moved back to Krysta. He cleared his throat again. “Well. Humans don’t live too long, so enjoy it while it lasts I suppose.” He ate another bite and fell silent then.

Ari was odd, even by human standards, the way she treated Krysta like a friend rather than someone to be wary of and how she spoke so easily about things that Krysta thought would have been more difficult to address. When Ari got up from the couch across from Krysta she tensed as the woman sat down next to her so close and continued their conversation. The way she spoke about Lucifer and his appearance left a very vivid image of the demon in her mind. Terrifying would be an apt way to describe seeing such a being and it made since why he hid his more demonic side. She supposed they were just lucky that they even had the ability to hide their darker forms.
When Ari said that Vox was Krysta's type she couldn't help but to roll her eyes as she took a sip of the wine. No, a demon was not Krysta's type. It didn't matter what he looked like or even if he had staved off the infection in her leg that would have ended her life painfully. "The only way Vox would ever be my type is if you two managed to successfully give me Stockholm syndrome, and I wish you the best of luck." She raised her glass in a mock toast to her statement but all of Krysta's smugness faded away when Ari mentioned killing Lucifer. Was she trying to bait her into a trap? Hoping she would follow Ari down a rabbit hole which she could not return? Krysta's suspicion of the woman only intensified as she eyed her when she rose from her seat once Vox returned from the balcony.
I dont understand demons. Krysta thought to herself as she watched the interaction between Ari and Vox. They interacted with each other much differently than before, or rather Vox acted much differently. Ari was still had the same giggly and cheerful disposition she had but now Vox was calling her pet names and didn't seem annoyed by her presence whatsoever. It's not like they had time to make up for anything. Vox had been with Krysta the entire time.
Her train of thought was interrupted as Vox came over and leaned down to pick her up off the couch. "No, don't I can.." before she could fully voice and opposition he had already picked her up and was walking towards the table. It was demeaning to have to be carried around and helped. She wished her damned leg would heal already. Come to think of it.. as she was set in the chair she gently flexed the muscle in her leg and found that she could do so with only nominal discomfort. As if the muscle had already repaired itself most of the way. Whatever Ari had done had apparently worked a miracle on the wound.
Vox's comment about the knife made her smirk. "As if this thing could actually do anything to you anyway." She replied and ignored his last comment as she picked up the steak knife while looking down at the finely prepared meal before her. She was hungry, sure, but still felt weird about accepting food from the demons. At this point however she was sure that refusal wouldn't be met with just frowns and disappointment. If Vox or Ari wanted her dead they had ample enough time to kill her in many different ways. After a few seconds of deliberating she finally cut into the steak and brought the first bite up on her fork to her mouth. When she tasted the meat she found it to be just as wonderful as she remembered her favorite steak house used to be. Tender, flavorful and juicy. In a way it made her sad. Remembering how things used to be before the angels and demons. When she had finally gotten her life on track and away from her doomsday prepping, nutcase of a family. Whom she still held resentment towards for correct in their paranoia.
"So what do you two talk about over dinner anyway?" Krysta said in an attempt to pull herself out of her own head and to fill the silence over the dinner table. "Are sports still a thing?" She was also talking to help feel a little less awkward sitting with them.

Vox grinned to Krysta’s response and chuckled as he took another bite of his food. He watched her as she seemed to hesitate before she took a bite of the food. He took a long drink of his wine before his eyes moved to Ari whom was equally interested in the human when the question came from Krysta’s mouth. Vox’s eyes moved back to Krysta and his lips parted to speak but he was interrupted by Ari which earned her a glare. “Oh of course we have sports.” She grinned happily. “Not...the same sort of sports you had as humans though.” She lifted her wine and took a drink.
“Ari.” Vox looked to her, his jaw tight.
“Oh lighten up, Vox. What’s she going to do? Kill us?” She looked back to Krysta. “You wouldn’t kill someone who saved your life now…..would you?” She smiled as a laugh came over her lips. “Now where was I?”
“You don’t need to talk about it.” Vox growled. “She doesn’t need to know the ins and outs of demons...”
Ari looked to Vox with an amused smile. “So angry all the time.” She pat his cheek. “Why don’t you relax a little? Did I not give you enough utopium to calm you down?” A smirk ran across her lips.
Vox’s eyes widened to these words, “You didn’t...” He breathed as he looked to his half drank glass of wine.
“Why don’t you finish the glass?” Ari asked, “It’ll loosen you up a bit.” The demoness looked back to Krysta. “Now then.” She cleared her throat and took another drink of her wine. “Pay no attention to him.” She pat Vox on the shoulder. “He’s a bit high strung sometimes. Aren’t you?” She looked to him and grinned. The drug was beginning to mellow him out. “Drink up. You know it feels good, love.” She cupped his cheek a moment before she looked back to Krysta. “Sports.” She grinned, “The maze is quite entertaining to watch. We also have fights, strip down the humans to their skivvies and let them at each other.” She playfully punched at the air a few times. “Like uh….what was it you humans did? Ultimate fighting?” She chuckled. “But my favorite, one that I truly enjoy is a round or two of the hunt.” She paused and took a drink of her wine. By this point Vox’s eyes were glazed over, he was high as a kite as he listened to Ari’s story and ate his food. She smirked to him before her eyes moved back to Krysta. “It’s expensive though. Satan is it expensive!” She chuckled softly. “Think of a game hunt, like elephants or lions. Humans paid for that right? Well we take a few strong humans to this island, it’s just a bit to the west of here...nice island...we can pick our weapons. I myself love to us a sniper.” She hummed to herself at the thought. “But, you know what’s better than anything?” She drink from her glass of wine. “The afterparty. They have some absolutely delicious drinks there and enough utopium for you to forget who you are.” She thought for a moment. “I don’t even remember that night.” She giggled. “Do you Vox?” She looked to him.
Vox chuckled as he took the last drink from his glass of wine. “No, not at all.” He giggled then. “You know what’s really fun?” He asked as he looked to Krysta. “The race tracks. Humans used to race dogs around the tracks.” He paused to laugh and wipe away a few tears, “Now we race them and make bets. I won a grand a few weeks ago off of one.” He finished off his plate as he continued chuckling.
Ari smirked as she watched him, “He makes some great choices on his bets, even at the fight nights.” She then looked back to Krysta. “So...” She stared to her a long moment. “Do you want to kill Lucifer?” Her eyes didn’t break away.
Vox giggled from where he sat. “Of course she does. Why wouldn’t she? She’d kill us both right now if she had her weapons.”
Ari hummed to herself, “Let me take care of him a moment, hm?” She set her wine down and then stood, “Come on, love.” She took his hand. “Come with me.” She led him away from the dinner table and into the back room. Soon enough the sound of a door closing followed and Ari walked back to the dining table. She took her seat across from Krysta. “If you’re wondering, utopium is a drug that demons discovered about 8 months ago. Mix a few things here and there and it gives you the high of your life. Want some?” She grinned. “Vox would never take it if I didn’t sneak it to him.” She giggled. “Ah yes, we were talking about killing Lucifer. Weren’t we?” The infectious smile stayed on her lips as she watched Krysta.

Krysta had been hoping for some light conversation to allow herself to be more comfortable with the company she was now forced to keep. She never expected the response she got from such an innocent question. Sports were supposed to be something that were just for fun. Lighthearted and amusing for everyone involved. That was not the case for demons.
At first she was a bit confused as to why Vox would have gotten so defensive over such a mild topic. She didn't need to know the ends and outs? She was going to be living here pretty much for the rest of her life most likely, unless by some miracle she managed to figure out how to actually end the apocalypse. If she was being honest the most she would probably achieve was paving the way for someone else to be able to actually end it though. Then when Ari mentioned some sort of drug she felt her jaw hang open a bit in surprise as she saw the panic in his eyes when he looked towards the wine glass. Demons could be drugged! She had to get her hands on some of the substance. It was way to useful not to.
Her inner celebration of finding such crucial information with endless implications was cut short however as Ari then began her description of their 'sports'. It was horrifying. Like the Hunger Games books that had been popular a few years back. Humans pitted against each other for survival and for other's entertainment. Races and fights with demons betting on them like cattle. Then, to make matters worse, Ari was still so pleased with herself as she bragged on Vox's behalf and seemed like she were talking about going to a football game rather than a sport where they watched humans brutally kill each other or race for their lives.
Then, after Vox was taken away once the drug had fully taken ahold of his system, Ari returned to the table to resume the conversation they had been having while Vox was not able to hear them. "What in the hell?" Was all Krysta managed to say for a moment as her mind worked to process everything that just happened. Ari may have seemed like an air headed bimbo but she was sly. When had she introduced the drug to Vox's drink anyway? Was Krysta's infected? Suddenly she wasn't so hungry and pushed the half eaten food away along with her wine glass as she hoped that she hadn't been poisoned as well. "Did you really drug Vox so you could talk without having to worry about him overhearing?" She was still a little stunned but as the implications set in she was actually a little impressed. "Isn't killing Lucifer considered high treason for you or something? What's your angle?" Krysta resumed her previously skeptical attitude towards Ari as she looked at the smiling woman.

Ari watched as the human pushed away her food. A smirk curved up her lips as she finished off her own meal and drank from her glass of wine. “Don’t you worry, I didn’t poison you, Krysta.” She finally spoke her name as her emerald eyes watched her, a giggle came over her lips. She was entertained by the reaction. Too much information for her to process? Possibly. Ari swirled her wine around in her glass as she allowed Krysta to pop off several questions. “Yes, of course I did. Vox wouldn’t allow me to have such conversations with you. He’d lose his mind.” She grinned as she looked to Krysta. “Of course it’s treason. Of course, of course.” She sighed and shrugged. “But wouldn’t you like it? Get rid of old Lucifer.”
The demoness pondered a moment before she lifted her glass to her lips. “Finish your meal, doll.” She spoke, the smile never left her lips. “You have to heal you know? You won’t heal if you don’t eat. You should be feeling pretty good, actually. You do, don’t you?” She asked with a raised brow. “Demon blood will do that for you. Just a drop. That’s all you need, it helps humans heal at a lightning speed. Fun fact.” She winked.
“So, you want to know why I’d like to kill Lucifer?” She questioned and tilted her head. “Because, I want my wings back.” She stared into Krysta’s eyes, “I want my wings back just as much as you want your cities back. Yet you’ve only had to spend a year in hell. I’ve spent centuries.” She frowned and then sighed again. “My life before falling from heaven?” She had a smile once again. “Have you studied Greek Mythology much?” She rested her head on her hands. “Heard of Aphrodite?” The play in her voice showed how amused she was. “That, was me.” She grinned happily to the statement. “Before I pissed off the Archangels.” She rolled her eyes then. “Now most of the Archangels are dead. With the exception of Domiel whom Vox and I will be sure to kill. So, why not get our heaven back? Vox and I never truly deserved to fall. Especially not Vox though, the poor boy.” She finished off her wine then and sighed.
Ari tilted her head to the side then. “So would you like to kill Lucifer? I know how.” The grin split her lips once again. “And we have just the key to do it too. He’s a bit….” She paused, “He just needs the right push.” She giggled. “You could push him, doll. That’s all we need, we have you. That was another piece of the key.” She shrugged. “Vox will do it. We just have to convince him, he’s a devoted follower to the lord of darkness or whatever….” She paused a long moment. “I know you want to.” She egged on with a smile.

Would she like to rid the world of Lucifer, hell yes she would, but at what cost? Ari had thrown to much at Krysta at once and she wasn't sure if the demoness was just yanking her chain or being sincere in her words. There was also the knowledge that Vox was the one who was supposed to protect her from other demons. She held no such deal with Ari and currently she was at her mercy. When Ari mentioned her leg wound and the demon blood she had used in order to help heal her she reached down under the table and pressed her hand to the spot on her calf that had been torn open. When she pressed her fingers against her skin she should have felt a pain strong enough to take her breath away, but instead it simply felt like a pretty gnarly bruise. "Yeah, my leg feels a lot better actually." She admitted to the demoness and reluctantly pulled her plate close to her once more to resume eating.
It wasn't until Ari confessed why she wanted Lucifer dead that Krysta started to understand her motivation. She wanted to restore herself to her former glory, Vox too it seemed. The offer was intriguing to say the least. She hadn't even known demons could regain their wings. Or at least Ari thought it was possible, and if they got to kill Lucifer in the process then it was a win-win situation. A total of three of the highest ranked demons less to deal with. "Let's say that I agree to this plan.." Krysta said between bites of beans "actually lets make it a bargain." Might as well lock one more demon into a bargain with her. "I'll help you convince Vox to kill Lucifer then once you two have your wings back you help me bring an end to the apocalypse here on Earth. Vox already told me that killing Lucifer wouldn't end the demon's reign, in a round about way. I want to know how to do it and I want you to help me. Kill someone we both want dead and return each of our little slices of paradise. Sounds fair, right?"
It seemed there was a lot Krysta still had to learn about demons and their motivations and if this far fetched and slightly absurd plan worked then she wouldn't even have to worry about putting her fellow humans in the line of fire. She could walk through hell a while longer if it put her that much closer to success.
After she had finished eating Krysta pushed her chair back a bit and leaned down to roll up the leg of her pants once more to reveal the bandage underneath. Then she slowly unwrapped the gauze and peaked at the gash itself. The skin was purple and bruised but the cut itself was almost completely closed. The stitches were unnecessary at this point as it had closed enough to pass the risk of reopening. "I guess I should actually thank you and Vox for fixing my leg.." She finally said as she stared at the wound with amazement. "I wasn't completely convinced I wasn't just going to end up losing it completely."

Ari leaned forward in her chair. She was intrigued. When the word bargain came over the table to her a smirk curved up her lips. “You learn quickly.” A chuckle came from the demoness as she listened to the bargain that was laid upon the table. She thought deeply on the subject it seemed her brows pulled together slightly, fair. Was it? She didn’t really care if it was fair so long as she got to have her wings back. So long as she could fly to the heavens and not rot in the heat of hell any longer. “Fair is fair.” She finally spoke after a long moment. She grinned happily when Krysta inspected her leg. “You can mainly thank Vox.” She winked. “He truthfully saved you, he just didn’t give you demon blood to speed up your healing process. In fact if humans knew that demon blood healed them I feel like your kind would kill our kind a lot less. Don’t you think?” She raised a brow.
“So, you want your paradise back. Even with all the wars?” She tilted her head. “Everything? All of it back?” She scoffed slightly. “Well, if you think of something to change along the way, I’ll help you to change that.” She winked then. “Just don’t tell Vox.” Her voice was a whisper before she giggled. “He’d kill me himself if he knew I was making such a deal with you. He’d lose his head at the thought. We can let him think that we are all doing this as a team, no bargain, no contract. Hm? Not that you truly need one. I want exactly what you want because….without humans angels will not have purpose to exist. That’s what angels were created for, to protect humans.” She snapped her fingers then and flames came from the tips of her fingers as a piece of rolled up paper appeared within her palm. “We should make it official, hm?” Ari grinned. She was sly. “Yadda yadda fine print.” She pricked the end of her finger and allowed a drop to fall upon the paper. Flames came from the blood droplet and her signature appeared upon the page. She then turned the paper and chuckled, “Your turn, doll. You get me my wings I’ll help you kill the entire Black Circle to include Lucifer. That’s what it’ll take.” She pushed the small pen blade and paper toward Krysta. “Don’t back out on me now.” Her expression was focused now.

Keep a secret from a Demon? No problem. She could keep Vox none the wiser about her and Ari's agreement. They would both be in hot water if Vox found out about the deal so Krysta, at the time, didn't think that Ari would have any reason to go against what she was saying now. "Even all the wars. Our wars were more tolerable than this existence, but I think people will be a little less likely to go to war with each other considering most of humanity is probably already wiped out." She shrugged to show how little concern she had over what the world would be like afterward.
When Ari snapped her fingers and flames were produced she tensed then sighed as she saw the paper contract outlining their deal. She hadn't signed such a document with Vox, did that mean his deal was less valid? She remembered him saying something about a demon's word so perhaps deals worked differently with each demon? At least she hoped they did so that way she hadn't sold out Domiel for nothing. Pulling the contract from Ari towards her on the table she tried to skim read over the contents and what she could read she found to pretty much be a iteration of what the had just discussed. There was even a clause about making changes, thorough. She took the pen knife from Ari and pressed her finger to the tip of the small blade. Please let this be the right decision. She thought to herself before pulling the blade back and letting a drop of her blood fall onto the parchment.
Once her name was written across the bottom of the page, in her own handwriting, she slid the document back to Ari and set the pen on the table as well before picking up her wine glass and quickly drinking the remainder of the liquid. "Well, this has been fun Ari. Thanks for the light conversation and fun times, but I think I'm going to go pass out for a bit. I'm sure I don't need to tell you that you can wake me up if you need or want anything." She placed her hands on the table and pushed herself up to a standing position. When she put weight on her leg she found that it didn't hurt like it had when she put weight on it earlier and was able to walk without much of a limp at all as she left the table to head to the room they had given her to stay in.
Krysta didn't bother to look back at Ari as she crossed the living room and shut the bedroom door behind her. Once she was alone she gave let out a long sigh and looked down at her hands as they shook a bit. Today had been top 5 one of the longest days of her life. She felt like it had been ages since she slept and her body felt heavy as she looked towards the bed in the center of the room. Instead of heading to the bed though she crossed the floor to the bathroom and found that her clothes from earlier were still in a pile on the floor next to the cabinet. Kneeling down she picked up the cloth and felt the heavy and slender object still concealed within. Through all the confusion Vox had never taken her holy dagger from her. "Thank goodness." She muttered under her breath and slipped the blade out from the clothes and carried it to the bed to slide between the mattress and box spring. She'd keep her promise not to kill any demons unnecessarily but that didn't mean she had to remain defenseless 100% of the time.
The last thing she did was change clothes. The flannel shirt and slightly bloodied jeans were discarded and replaced with a men's t-shirt she found and a pair of leggings. Comfort she hadn't known in a very long time and still allowed her to move freely should she need to. She also removed the bandages from her leg to let it breathe and tossed them in the trash in the bathroom before finally climbing into the soft bed and under the covers. The plush mattress felt as if it were cradling her and the crisp sheets felt soothing against her skin. "Sleeping in a demon's penthouse in a soft bed. Hell is sure a weird place." She muttered as she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
That night Krysta's normally dreamless void was disturbed by vivid and disturbing images. She was back in the club Vox had taken her to and the demons that crowded the dance floor looked at her with a hungry gleam in their eyes. Looking around for Vox or Ari she felt a knot in her stomach when she realized she was alone. "You should have stayed with your Master human. Now you're all ours." One of the smiling demons hissed at her through a devious smile as she tried to back away from the group but every time she moved she felt hands upon her body. They roamed and grasped every surface of her skin and suddenly she felt like she couldn't breathe. "Don't!" She yelled before she felt someone from behind her grasp her arm and jerk her around to face them. She stared in to the smiling face of the Devil himself. "I'm glad you decided to stay. Don't worry about Vox. He's a bit preoccupied at the moment." Then Lucifer grabbed her chin and forced her to look up to the ceiling of the club where she saw the shadow of a lifeless body hanging from the rafters as the lights flashed and Lucifer's laughter filled her ears.
Krysta pushed out with her hands to try and shove the Devil away from her and when she did she heard the sound of a crash which roused her from her sleep. The room was still dark and in her disorientation she grasped for the dagger beneath her and pulled it from its sheath. It took a moment for her to realize that it was still nighttime and she was in the room in Vox's penthouse. She was breathing hard, sweating from the nightmare and saw that she had knocked over a lamp on the night stand which had caused the crashing sound that woke her. "God damnit.." She groaned and slid the dagger back under the mattress and she laid on her stomach.

“Most of them, yes.” Ari spoke as she watched Krysta read over the text. She was very good at creating contracts, she’d done so for centuries. “Fun.” Ari hummed, “You, doll, are hilarious.” She frowned slightly when Krysta kept walking. Now she was alone. Ari stood and stepped to the balcony where she gazed over the city. She remembered it a year ago, the beauty of the lights. The bustle of the people, the cars as they zoomed down the streets. The world was a desolate wasteland now, the demons had truly destroyed it and made it into their playground. It was no better than hell itself. What was the point if they made all the humans submit? Perhaps that was what entertained her about Krysta. She wasn’t quite ready to submit to the demons. It intrigued her. It took Ari awhile but she finished off a bottle of wine one her own and made her way toward Vox’s room. She pushed the door open and trailed her fingertips along his body as she walked up the side of his bed. She’d given him a heavy dose to utopium. More than enough to knock him out. Her lips curled up in a smile as she ran her fingers along his jaw. “You won’t even remember the evening.” She brushed his hair from his eyes. “I could tell you anything about it and you’d believe me.” She mused as she tilted her head slightly.
It was then that she heard the crash from the other room. Ari’s heart bound within her chest. She grasped Vox’s pistol from his hip and rushed from the room. She pushed the door open and flipped on the lights to see Krysta laying upon her stomach on the bed. Her pistol was aimed in the direction of the broken lamp. Ari took in a breath, “Good, you’re awake.” She spoke and cleared her throat. “Even better, you have one of Vox’s old shirts on.” The demoness let out a long breath. “I was almost afraid that you’d broken the window and leaped to your death. Our deal won’t work well if you die.” She winked and gave a laugh. She came and sat on the edge of the bed. “I need you to do something.” Her voice took in a playful tone again. “Since we have a bargain in place.” She lay back on her back as she held the pistol upon her abdomen, her fingertip traced along it. Vox had gotten that gun shortly after he fell from the heavens. It had a long past and many deaths to its name.
Ari let out a soft chuckle. “Vox won’t remember tonight.” She spoke as she rolled onto her side a grin about her lips. “So we can make him believe anything happened.” She chuckled. “He needs to believe something.” She gazed into Ari’s eyes. “You’ve got to make him believe it. Ready?” She stood up, “You need to come with me to his room, you’ll be sleeping there tonight. It’ll be worth it, I promise you. So get up. This will set everything into motion, believe me. If not, we will have to explain a whole lot of things and well, that just isn’t as much fun, is it?” She waved her hand and stepped from the room. Ari walked down the hallway then and into Vox’s room. She clicked on the light next to his bed as her hand traced up his body once again. She placed the pistol on the bedside table and a smile curved up her lips. “Now then.” She moved her fingers quickly along the buttons of his shirt and unbuttoned each one. She carefully lifted and maneuvered his body to remove the shirt. “Get in bed with him, doll.” Ari looked to Krysta a moment before she unclasped his belt and she tugged his jeans off of his hips leaving him in his black boxers. All the while Vox didn’t move a muscle, the amount of drug she’d used on him was equivalent to a tranquilizer…
Ari tucked him beneath the blankets. “Make sure to get close. He has to believe this happened, otherwise….well he might find out about our deal.” She winked to Krysta then, “At least he is clean.” She chuckled. “Most demons aren’t nearly as clean as him, and dare I say it again? Tall, dark and handsome.” She giggled as she pulled the blankets up over him. “See you two in the morning.” Ari grinned as she clicked the lamp off she tossed his pants near the bathroom door, his shirt she tossed near the door of his room. She was sly. That was for certain. Ari might seem as though she had no clue, but she did, she knew much more than she’d ever let on. She slipped from the room and found her way to the couch where she made herself comfortable and soon enough the demoness fell asleep curled beneath a warm blanket.
**
Vox rolled onto his side in his sleep. His brows tucked together slightly as his dreams raced. That was the side effect of utopium that he really didn’t like. Vivid dreams. Memories of his past. He hated to relive everything. On this night he dreamed of his last day as an angel. He rushed through the city saving lives with each corner. He did everything he could to stop the war from happening and thus he succeeded. Though, it was then that Domiel was able to rip his wings from his body. Vox trembled slightly in his sleep, he mumbled softly though his words were incoherent. Eventually though his dreams came to an end and he became silent in his sleep, he’d rolled back onto his back and was sleeping peacefully.
