Adelaide took in shaken breaths as she leaned against the stone wall of the basement. Her world began to spin, her golden eyes became so bright that they nearly illuminated in the darkness. She gripped onto her arm as the burning sensation raced through her body. “What did he do?” She snarled as she looked to the lycan girl.
The young woman gazed to her from inside her cage, her eyes studied the vampire for a long moment. “I’m not sure. There are many things that he does to us here. We are all experiments of one type or another. I can no longer shift into my wolf form. Davie...he can’t turn back.” She glanced toward the staircase where a lycan snarled from within its cage. “We all have something to offer to him, at least that’s what he says. But for your own good, stop trying to escape, it isn’t happening. You’re only making things harder on yourself.”
**
William sat in his office he had a feather pen in his hand and he was writing quickly in a book. There was a ring from his front door and he froze. He sat for a moment as he contemplated who could be at his door. “I didn’t ask for a visitor.” He grumbled slightly. The gargoyle from the corner growled slightly as it shifted to look toward the main foyer of the mansion. William stood and held his hand toward the beast. “You protect me. Hm?” He nodded before he stepped from the study. He waltzed through the room as he straightened his clothing and wiped a bit of blood from the back of his hand. He then frowned slightly, a bit of blood had splashed onto his jacket from the human he had captured for Adelaide to feed upon. But he needed her strong for what he did to her. He chuckled slightly as he thought of it. Then he frowned once again, he wasn’t sure if she would survive. Something like this had never been done.
He cleared his throat as he wrapped his fingers around the door handle and pulled the door open. His eyes lit up when he saw Henry. “Oh what a surprise.” He grinned, delighted. “I was worried you would be someone else. Someone much less...appealing to my taste in company. But you, Henry.” He chuckled happily. “You I would have as a guest any day of the week. Well...except for Fridays….I’m rather busy then. You do understand?” He smirked as he stepped aside. “Please come inside. I shall pour you a tea.” He closed the door behind Henry. “I’m rather busy today, Henry. Lots to do!” He grinned as he stepped over to a tea kettle that had water inside of it. He held his hand to the base and tilted his head slightly, after a few moments the kettle began to whistle. “I only have green tea, I hope you don’t mind.” He spoke as he poured the tea over tea bags into two separate mugs. William then handed the mug forward to Henry. “How may I be of assistance to you Henry? You don’t come around much.” He frowned. “Sad. Isn’t it? Though not many visit me, unless they want something.” He scoffed.
William giggled then. “Just yesterday a noble brat visited me.” He smiled, delighted to tell the story once again. “He gave me a heap of money to send my precious gargoyle into the city.” He snickered. “He made a wager that he could defeat it, look like a hero….save the girl and all that.” He smirked then. “No such luck and now I have myself a new subject.” He grinned happily. He then frowned slightly. “What were you here for again?” He raised a brow, finally ready to listen to Henry. There was a yell from the basement door, a cry really. William groaned slightly. “She might be more trouble than I thought she would be.” He grumbled slightly.

Henry hated coming to this place. Each time there was a different scent that clung to the walls and floor. Even to William himself. It made the man nearly impossible to track via scent, however, there always seemed to be a bit of death hanging around him. As if he had left a morgue earlier that day and hadn't quite managed to rid himself of the scent. Henry often found himself holding his breath around William when he could but the man liked to talk so that wasn't often.
When William opened the door and ushered Henry inside he offered him a simple nod in greeting, along with a small smile, as William excitedly rambled on. He had always seemed to take a shine to Henry and he never knew why, but it worked to his advantage. Also, this time he actually said something interesting which peaked Henry's interest immediately. "You were always a busy man, William." Henry replied. "I've actually come, most likely, for that girl you mentioned. You see she was taken from my company last night. Part of something I'm working on which I'm sure you understand. Besides, Bennett's aren't good for your work. They come with a lot of baggage." Henry was hoping yet not that Adelaide was the subject of William's next experiment. Hoping she was to end his hunt but hoping not so she wouldn't be subjected to that.

William watched Henry curiously. “You were the man with the girl?” He questioned and then he giggled. “You, Henry?” He grinned brightly. “That noble vampire has no idea who you are does she?” He questioned curiously. “Hm, not only a commoner, but a vampire plagued by his past.” He giggled happily and spun around slightly. “That Nicholas has it out for you. He wants your dead. I told my gargoyle to only worry about capturing the girl. I knew that Nicholas couldn’t kill my gargoyle, no sense in killing a vampire that was mixed up in the agreement.” He held his finger up. “That reminds me.” He walked into his office and came back out with the scroll. “You say they come with a lot of baggage? The Bennetts?” He questioned curiously. “I believe this will clear all that baggage up.” He unrolled the scroll and handed it to Henry. “That egotistical slime thought that he would win. Against a gargoyle.” He chuckled. “Not many can do that.”
William sipped from his tea and shifted slightly as he looked to Henry. He frowned slightly as he heard another scream from down the stairs. “You’re saying you want to take her off my hands though.” He spoke and seemed to ponder for a moment. “Trouble is, I’ve already begun my testing on her. I can’t just….let her go.” He raised a brow as he looked to Henry. “She’s interesting. I’ve never seen a vampire turn down a fresh meal. Refuse to drain a human dry. Refuse to kill even. I didn’t think that they were capable of such decisions. Especially in such a state that she was in. Nicholas...at least my gargoyle told me it was him….he shot her with a shotgun….it was a nasty wound. A good bit of blood loss.” He shrugged slightly. “Her ribs were broken, my gargoyle doesn’t know how to carry things like here in a gentle fashion….” He giggled slightly. “She should have jumped at any chance to get blood. Yet. She denied it, until I made it so she couldn’t deny it any longer.”
He shifted slightly as another yell came from the basement. “Why are you so interested in her Henry? She’s about the most innocent vampire I’ve ever seen. She shouldn’t be on your radar at all to kill. There are plenty of others. Unless...” He pondered for a moment and sipped his tea. “Ahhh do you want to get to old Master Bennett?” He grinned happily. “That power hungry monster deserves to fall. Hard. If I might add.” He giggled then. “Tell me your plan, I may rip up this contract. But. It would only be because it’s you Henry. You’re one of the few vampires I can stand.” He smirked. “It must be the hunter in you.” He took another drink of his tea.

Henry shrugged and gave a sly grin when William asked if Nicholas knew who he was. No, that pompous brat had no clue who Henry was. He thought he was simply a bottom of the barrel peasant who had gotten lucky to catch Adelaide's attention at the masquerade ball, and he intended to keep it that way. It wasn't until William stated that he had already began testing on Adelaide that Henry's smile faltered. Henry wasn't exceptionally surprised when he spoke of Adelaide not wanting to kill the human she was presented with but he knew that anything that William found interesting would make it all the more difficult to persuade William to let her go.
"Must be.." Henry commented at the end of his offer. "You know my history with Vincent Bennett. I want him dead, and I had planned on using his daughter to get close enough to do it. Probably kill her too and then move on with normal business. However.." Henry paused as he contemplate his next words which he needed to choose very carefully. "She doesn't have blood on her hands, and even if she is a vampire, I can't bring myself to slaughter someone who has never done harm to anyone else." He stated, happy with his answer, for William knew of Henry's personal code and the circumstance set Adelaide within those perimeters.
"Instead of ripping that contract up though, might I take it with me? We'll void it all the same, but I would like some proof of this transaction. I'll blot out your name as well so Old Bennett doesn't know who caused his family the trouble with the gargoyle."

William smirked happily when Henry agreed with him. Most hunters killed to kill. William agreed with the code that Henry hunted by. He watched Henry as he spoke, he frowned slightly when Henry said that his original plan was to kill Adelaide as well. Though, he smirked once again when Henry stated that wasn’t his plan anymore. “I would be hard pressed to kill her in cold blood as well.” He spoke in agreement. “I’m still in a bit of shock that in such an injured state she declined fresh blood. I practically had to force feed her.” He shrugged slightly. There was another noise from downstairs, William looked to the door and then back to Henry.
William took in a breath, he studied Henry for a long moment. “You aim to knock that child of a vampire from the running?” He smirked. “So long as you bring old man Bennett down, Henry. That is all I care about. He’s bad for business, truly.” He shrugged and then chuckled. “He doesn’t like me much.” He smirked. “That’s why I decided it would be a lovely treat to use his daughter as a test subject.” He had his same wild grin, “Wait here for me.” He spoke as he turned and walked to the door. He pulled a set of keys from his pocket and jingled them as he found the proper key for the door. “I don’t allow guests into the basement. Even such guests as yourself Henry.” William spoke as he turned his eyes to Henry. “You understand?” He spoke before he pushed the door open and slipped into the darkness of the basement.
William’s footsteps creaked with each stair as he came to the bottom and stepped off onto the cool cement floor. The lycan snarled from within his cage at William which only caused the man to smirk and chuckle. “Good evening to you too.” He spoke as he made his way across the basement. “Miss Bennett.” He spoke as he approached.
Adelaide was on her back, her chest rose and fell quickly, her eyes were squeezed shut, her hands balled into fists. To his voice her eyes opened, the golden color stared to him. “What…..did….you do to me??” Her voice was full of pain, her fangs were visible as she spoke.
William stepped forward he stood just out of her reach if she were to lunge at him. “You don’t seem to appreciate what I’ve done for you Miss Bennett.” He smirked as he watched her carefully. “Do you really want to know?” He asked with a wicked chuckle.
Adelaide sat up and tugged against the cuff that held her in place. Her arm was still discolored with black lines from the site where he’d injected her. She pulled harshly at the cuffs, blood dripped from beneath the metal shackles. She stood and pulled herself forward to where she stood just before him, though the shackles held her back. “What have you done?” She winced slightly as pain flooded through her body.
William giggled as he watched her. “You’re more resilient than I thought you would be.” He reached forward and grasped her jaw to examine her eyes. “Hm.” He grinned then. “I can’t just let you go. Not with such progress….”
“Let her go?” The female lycan from within the cage pipped up, she laughed then. “Don’t tease her like that. You’ll never let any of us go.” She looked up to them from where she sat.
Adelaide collapsed back to sitting on the bed, her eyes lowered to the floor. The room was spinning slightly, her vision threatened to cave in. William knelt before her. “I have a friend of mine here that has requested that I release you. I owe him a favor.” He pulled the keys from his pocket and began thumbing through them to find the key to her cuffs.
Adelaide looked to him with a dark expression. “Just going to pawn me off like everyone else?” She asked. “Like I am a piece of property?” She pulled her brows together and shook her head slightly. “Go ahead then. It isn’t like it’ll be any different if I am released to return home. My grandfather would rather sell me off than allow me to choose my own husband.”
William watched her a moment, “I don’t think you need to worry about that anymore.” He smirked before he unlocked her from the shackles. “Oh. Before we go.” He turned and walked over to his desk with different vials and assorted items. “I need you to drink this.” He brought over a small bottle of liquid it was dark and almost looked black like the liquid that he’d injected her with.
Adelaide rubbed her wrists as she stood slowly. She looked to the Lycan that was locked away within the cage. “I’ll come back for you.” She whispered softly before she nodded to the girl. She took the glass bottle into her hands and lifted it to her nose to smell. She immediately gagged.
“Drink up.” William spoke, “You need it to recover from your injection.” He smirked.
Adelaide watched him a moment before she took in a deep breath. She downed the glass and gagged once again. Her body instantly felt warm as soon as she’d swallowed the liquid. She fell forward and William wrapped his arms around her to keep her on her feet. She groaned as she pushed against him. “What...did you do?” She snapped.
“I’ve never gotten the chance to inject a pure blooded vampire with pure lycan blood.” He smirked. “I’ve injected a turned vampire in the past and he died shortly after the injection. So far you seem to be getting your strength back.” William spoke as he scooped her into his arms and turned to carry her up the stairs. Adelaide didn’t speak, her eyes widened slightly to his words. How could he do such a thing? What was he aiming to do? Her breathing quickened slightly as she fought back tears. “Here is Lady Adelaide.” William spoke as he lowered her feet to the ground.
Adelaide’s golden eyes fell upon Henry and she rushed forward. “Henry.” She gasped as she nearly fell against him. Her arms wrapped around his neck and she hugged to him. Though the words of William returned to her head. Henry was a friend of this mad scientist of a warlock? At this point though...she didn’t care. She felt safe with him here.
William tilted his head slightly as he watched Adelaide’s reaction. He smirked then as his eyes looked to Henry. “I think she’s taken a liking to you, Henry.” He chuckled as he walked to his office. After a moment he returned with the contract in hand. He watched Henry a moment, “I’ll need you to bring her back in a few days. I have to make sure that she’s fairing well with the injection that I gave her. Hm?” He nodded as he held the rolled up piece of paper forward.

William was absolutely nuts, but he wasn't unreasonable. He watched the play of emotions across William's face and was a bit relieved that Vincent Bennett's downfall was of greater value than the experiment he had started with Adelaide. He really didn't want to have to fight a gargoyle or any other constructs William had laying in wait around the old mansion.
When William left Henry standing in the parlor alone he relaxed slightly, but he didn't let his guard down. The wait while William retrieved Adelaide seemed to take far longer than just a few minutes. When Adelaide finally emerged from the cellar below though he felt even more relieve wash over him as he saw that she was still in one piece. As she flung herself at him he wrapped a single arm around her waist and held her against himself in a protective manner, as if William would change his mind and take her back.
As William started to speak again Henry's attention was diverted back to him and he nodded in understanding about bringing her back for another injection. Henry didn't trust William but he knew not to write him off completely and he would simply have to watch over Adelaide and what William did very carefully. Then he took the rolled up agreement, unrolled it slightly to check that it was what William said it was, and nodded. "Thank you William. Always a pleasure doing business." He told him with a polite smile and turned to leave with Adelaide.
Henry supported her, making her walk out of the mansion, and then once they were outside he scooped her up in his arms and once again started to run, as he had done when he carried her away from the comedy theater. He also kept his senses sharp in case they were followed, but luckily it seemed William was being earnest this time in their agreement. Instead of taking Adelaide directly home Henry decided to take her to his own abode within the abandoned mansion on the far southern side of town.
Once they had arrived at the dark and foreboding looking mansion Henry set Adelaide down on her feet gently and he took the time to actually get a good look at her. His eyes quickly scanned over her but ended with his gaze meeting her own. "Are you alright?"

Adelaide leaned into Henry, his arm around her was comforting in that moment. She glanced back to William as he handed over the contract. Just like that she was sold to a warlock. She didn’t speak as she watched the two interact. Her eyes gazed up to Henry a moment before they made their way from the mansion. Her steps weren’t the strongest, though she knew that Henry had noticed when he simply lifted her into his arms. She didn’t fight it. She was thankful to be out of that mansion and away from the warlock. She leaned her head against Henry’s chest and simply closed her eyes as she relaxed into his arms. The first she’d relaxed since she was taken. She hadn’t slept, not truly. A bit of rest here or there, but nothing that counted as true rest.
When she felt his pace slow she opened her eyes once again. Adelaide gripped onto him as he set her down, her fingers curled into the material of his jacket. She lifted her gaze to him as she loosened her grip and took a step back. “I think so...” She replied to his questioned as she lifted her hand to rub where her skin had bruised in the crease of her arm from the injection that William had given her. She glanced around the dark and gloomy home. It was empty and forgotten. Or at least it felt that way. She took in a breath, “I really need blood, Henry.” She looked to him with her golden hues. The hazel color had yet to return to her iris, not since she was injected with Lycan blood. That was a sign of injury in most pure bloods, a need for blood to heal. She rubbed her wrists that held dried blood upon them, though the cuts from the shackles had already disappeared.
She took a step over to an old battered couch that had seen better days. “What is this place Henry?” She asked curiously as she sat down heavily. Her eyes lifted to him once again. “And….” She fumbled with her hands slightly, her brows tucked together. “How do you know that man? Please tell me you aren’t as chummy with him as he seems to be with you...he’s mad….he…” Her nose wrinkled a moment as she grimaced. She closed her eyes a long moment as she drew in a breath. A tear rolled over her cheek as she thought of the idea of Lycan blood in her veins. She looked to Henry then, her eyes searched his. “He...started an experiment on me...Henry...” She shook her head, it was hard to say it. It was hard to even think it. “He injected me with Lycan blood...” She fell silent then for a moment. “It burned...my entire body was on fire, as if I was cast into a vat of molten metal...” She grit her teeth slightly as she rubbed her bruised arm. “He’s a monster...” She whispered before she ultimately fell silent.

Somehow hearing her say that she wasn't sure if she were alright was still rather relieving for Henry. At least there was nothing major that she could notice. Though whatever William had done to her probably would show signs pretty soon and it would be another thing to recover from. "I have something for you to drink. It wont be what you're used to but it'll do the job it needs to." He admitted and then took her into a separate room and down a set of stairs to a wine cellar that was a good bit cooler than the rest of the house. He pulled a glass jar from one of the shelves and handed it to her. "Here.. it's blood I've collected. Don't worry no one died over it, but it works good as a reserve."
"William is a type of monster, yes. He's allowed to operate, according to the hunters, because he rarely ventures out to capture and torment the human population. Most are willing to look the other way simply because he can be a valuable asset to any who hunt those that aren't human." Henry explained. "That being said.. I can't stand the man. I can't kill him because.. well because of a couple reasons, but I had a sneaking suspicion he was involved when I realized it was a gargoyle who had taken you and not just killed someone outright. He owed me a favor and I cashed it in to get him to release you."
Henry leaned against one of the shelves lightly as he looked around the old cellar. Cobwebs hung from the beams above their heads and there was a rather strong draft in the old house as it creaked and groaned from the wind that pushed against the eastern side. "This is actually where I live. Not glamorous I'm afraid, but it keeps me safe during the daylight hours." He scoffed and shook his head as he thought to himself. He didn't think he would ever bring anyone here. "I'm sorry I didn't get to you before William started his experiments. He works quickly. That injection, lycan's blood, usually kills his subjects. I only know cause he's vented his frustrations to me over it throughout the years. He's talked about trying to make a hybrid vampire that could stand the sunlight and since lycans are the direct opposite from vampires he wanted to see what happened when he mixed the two."
He reached up to brush a strand of hair away from her face and behind her shoulder. "I know what you probably think of me.. of everything you've learned.. I'm going to take you back to your grandfather. I'll show him this contract.." he held up the rolled up paper and then tucked it into his interior jacket pocket "and hopefully knock Nicholas out of the running. Then I'll step down from the contest myself and let the last remaining contestant win. He seems like a good sort of fellow. A bit shy, but I'm sure he'll come around." Henry wasn't going to be presumptuous enough to think that Adelaide would ever want Henry to actually win the contest, regardless of him pulling her from William's grasp.

“Anything would be welcomed.” Adelaide spoke softly as she stood to follow him. Her feet felt heavy, her legs felt as though they were surrounded in a cement casing. She held onto the railing as she made her way carefully down the stairs as she trailed behind him. She took the mason jar and looked at it a moment as he explained that no one had died for this glass. A soft smile curved up her lips, “I appreciate that, Henry.” She looked to him a moment before she unscrewed the cap and lifted the glass to her lips. She listened to him as he spoke of William. She shuddered slightly at the thought of the dungeon like basement that the man kept. After a few quick gulps the glass was empty, though her eyes remained the golden color. A side effect of the injection perhaps?
She gave an approving nod as Henry spoke that he couldn’t stand William. That lifted quite a bit of worry from her chest. She couldn’t imagine how she would have reacted had Henry stated that he believed in the horrid practices that the warlock followed. “Good that he owed you a favor.” She spoke softly as she looked around the cellar. Her eyes took in the musty smell of the damp cement. When he revealed that this was his home she gave a slight nod. “It has a lot of character.” She spoke after the home creaked slightly again from a gust of wind outside. It seemed another storm was brewing this evening.
Adelaide took in a breath when Henry brought up the injection. She rubbed her arm again, it still burned. “He seemed rather surprised and quite excited that I was alive still...” She whispered. Though when he spoke of William wanting to create a hybrid her brows tucked together in curiosity. A vampire...that could walk in the sun? She raised a brow. “He wants to eradicate the defect that causes us death? Why?” She wondered, though she didn’t seem to want an answer as she leaned against one of the posts in the cellar. “He’s nothing more than a mad scientist.” She muttered as she looked to the empty glass in her hand.
When Henry tucked the strand of hair behind her shoulder she looked up to him, she gazed into his eyes and gave a slight smile, one like she might have during their date. When he began to speak however, her smile faded away. Back to her grandfather. After what happened? She looked to the contract and her eyes fell away from him, she let out a long breath. Though, the next addition that he spoke of caused her to pull her brows together. She slowly screwed the cap onto the glass jar as she seemed to think deeply. “Certainly...” She spoke and forced a smile. “Well...” She took a step forward and placed the empty jar with several other empty jars. “Then what are we waiting for?” She turned to him, her hands clasped before her. Was she hurt? Possibly. The forced smile upon her lips suggested that the possibility could be rather true. She didn’t have the energy to argue. Not anymore. She was sold like meat in a market between the men. What good did it do to argue? Elijah seemed to be a nice enough suitor. She could only hope. Especially if Henry seemed to have no interest in her hand.
“Thank you, Henry. I appreciate what you’ve done for me. I won’t forget it.” She spoke as she stepped forward she placed her hand upon his cheek and gazed into his eyes. Her brows quivered slightly, her lips parted as if she wanted to speak, though she didn’t. She allowed her hand to fall as she turned away from him and made her way toward the stairs that led from the cellar.

The expression Henry gave her as she reached up to touch his cheek was one of conflict and confusion. He was unsure what he wanted to do. He thought he was doing the right thing by relinquishing his running for her hand but the look she gave him made him second guess himself. When she let her hand drop and she turned away from him he reached out his hand to stop her just as he heard someone calling his name from upstairs.
"Henry?" The woman's voice called. "Henry are you home?" Henry knew exactly who it was and she couldn't have had worse timing. "I'll be right up." He called back and sighed. "Well, I guess I need to take care of this before we head back." He told Adelaide and then followed her up the stairs to the main floor.
When they reached the top step a woman wearing a simple dress and with long brown hair pulled back into a braid came into the kitchen area with a smile on her lips. Though that smile faded slightly when she saw Adelaide. "Henry.. who's this?" She asked and turned her attention back to Henry from Adelaide.
"Margret.. this is Adelaide. Adelaide.. this is Margret. She's my granddaughter." Henry had told Adelaide a little about his past, but he hadn't mentioned the fact that he had a family at the time he was turned. Two children with a wife which left him with a family whom he tried to keep at a distance, for their own safety, but Margret always seemed to find her way back to his home in search of stories and hopes that he would train her to be a hunter herself.

Adelaide looked up the stairs to the sound of the voice, her brows pulled together once again. She glanced to Henry with confusion written across her face. For someone to come to his home, it had to be someone rather close to him. She didn’t speak as she walked up the stairs, her golden eyes fell upon the woman curiously. Though when the woman’s smile faded she felt a bit out of place, as if she didn’t belong here with Henry. She pulled her eyes from the woman and looked to Henry with a slightly raised brow. “Grand daughter?” Adelaide spoke as she stared to the woman. Her own grandfather had torn apart a family…these were the things that she hated most about her kind. The trails of destruction that were left behind after a human was turned unwillingly…
Adelaide took in a breath. “Well...” She spoke and forced a smile upon her lips. “Nice to meet you Margret.” She looked back to Henry. “Your grandfather was just um...discussing matters with me...” She looked to Margret once again, a bit uneasy. She could hear the girl’s pulse. Her jaw tightened slightly. Usually she wasn’t bothered by humans. In fact, she wasn’t one to go blood thirsty at all. “I’ll...” She closed her eyes a moment and let out a breath. “I’ll wait in the other room.” She spoke before she slipped passed Margret to the living room. She sat down heavily upon the couch as she drew in a quick breath. She leaned back against the back of the couch and closed her eyes. As she sat there her own senses dulled, she focused on blocking out the sound of the girl’s heartbeat. The bloodthirsty feeling inside of her subsided and soon enough all she could think of was the horrible possibility that her grandfather knew of Nicholas’ plan and no matter what he would still be the man she was forced to marry. Or perhaps Elijah was no better…? She gripped onto her arm as the feeling of fire spread. She grit her teeth slightly. If anything, perhaps the injection was killing her slowly. That was another fear she had that lurked deep within her mind.

More complications, more that he did not need. Things were already getting questionably difficult for Henry. Much more so than he thought when he first started this endeavor. When Adelaide excused herself Henry sighed and put his hands on his hips as he looked at Margret who was looking back at him expectantly. She wanted answers and he didn't have time to give them. "Now's not a good time Marge." He told her. "I said I would come in and check on you when things were done."
"It's been weeks. I wanted to make sure you were still living." She replied, in a rather off putting tone. She was just as stubborn as he was.
"Things like this take weeks." He replied. "Now have faith and go home to your mother. I know she hates you being out this late." He tried to walk past her but she stepped into his path. "Marge.. not right now." He told her in an authoritative tone as he stared at her. "I will come talk to you later."
Margret looked back at him for a moment before giving a relenting sigh and stepping to the side to let him pass. Henry moved past her and then into the living room where Adelaide sat waiting. "I apologize." The sound of thunder shook the roof just after a bolt of lightening lit up the windows. "If you want to remain here until the storm passes I don't mind. I don't have a carriage to carry you where you'll be dry during the trip." He approached and knelt down before her as his eyes looked to her arm where William had injected her. "Or I can see if there's anything I can do to help with that injection, or at least the discomfort of it."

Adelaide remained where she was as she listened to the two bicker. It wasn’t until Henry was before her that she opened her eyes. Her golden hues gazed up to him as she took in a few quick breaths. “I...” She clenched her jaw slightly her eyes flicked to the opening to the kitchen. “Henry.” She pressed her lips into a flat line. She sat forward and grasped onto his jacket. “I...don’t want to hurt her.” She whispered to him. Her grip shook as she held onto him. Was this the Lycan blood? Was it something else that William had done to her? Or was she so depleted of blood that her body was revolting against her? She hadn’t ever been deprived of such blood before. Though...she should have been fine now that she’d drank the blood from the jar. But whatever William did to her, whatever that injection caused to slowly morph within her body.
The grit her teeth slightly as she released her grip on him. “If you can make this stop. Please.” She spoke, her lower lip quivered slightly. “But I don’t want to take more from you that my grandfather already did….” She drew her brows together slightly. She balled her hand into a fist as the pain spread through her body and she leaned against the back of the couch once again. It wasn’t nearly as aggressive as when he’d first injected her, but it came in waves. Her muscles tensed and released as she let out a groan. “It may as well have been poison that he injected me with.” She let out a whimper as tears welled in her eyes.

Henry wasn't sure how to help Adelaide. He wasn't the science type like William was, and all he knew how to do was relieve the sort of aches and pains he had been subjected to throughout his life. He sighed and glanced over his shoulder, back towards the kitchen. "Go out the back Marge." He called to her as he didn't want her to walk back through this room at the moment. "Here.." He lifted his wrist up to his own lips and bit down hard enough to cause his own blood to quickly well up on the surface. "Same principle as someone drinking from an elder. Elders drinking from lessers can have a bolstering affect. It should help." He told her and held up his bleeding wrist towards Adelaide.

Adelaide clenched her jaw tight as she listened to Margret’s steps leave the home. The door opened and closed. Then Henry did something she didn’t expect. Her eyes opened and she stared to him as he bit into his wrist. “W-...” She sucked in a quick breath and without another moment she reached forward and grasped onto his wrist. His words were lost to her as her fangs sank into his skin. Her grip on him was like a vice. It didn’t take long though before she released him. She leaned back as her chest rose and fell quickly. The feeling was nothing like drinking the blood of a human. It was a rush of energy that raced through her muscles. The weakness that she’d felt before seemed to disappear. She reached forward and clasped his face, her eyes gazed into his. “Henry.” She searched his eyes. She was silent for a long moment, her brows pulled together. She wanted to speak. She wanted to tell him how she truly felt. She wasn’t afraid of him, that was for certain. She didn’t hate him or despise him. She understood why he was the way that he was.
Adelaide lowered her eyes from him once again as her palms fell from his cheeks. “Thank you.” She breathed, her hazel irises had once again returned. The burning sensation had subsided for the moment. Though she feared that it could return. She feared many things from the injection. She moved and stood then to step over to the window that looked outside. She didn’t recognize the location at all, which surprised her slightly. She crossed her arms over her chest and shivered slightly as she watched the lightening dance across the sky. “What will you do?” She asked then as she turned to look to him. “After you hand me off to my grandfather and to Elijah?” She questioned with a curious gaze. “Will you return here? Move on to another location?” She tightened her arms over her chest a bit more. “You would just walk away?” She asked as she stepped toward him, her eyes focused on him. “Just like that?” Another rumble from the storm outside caused a flash to fill the empty home.
