Adelaide watched him as his eyes looked to her hands in the dark. She too found herself looking to the short sharp claws that had formed upon her fingertips. She gave a soft smile as she met his gaze. “That they have.” She looked to the wolves that still lay in the mud incapacitated. When he spoke the next bit she focused back on him as he grasped her hand and examined her claws. “I...feel different yes...but I’m fine...right?” She asked as she felt his hand cup her cheek. She gazed into his eyes as she felt him analyze her.
“Is...something wrong?” She asked him worry flickered into her voice. Her jaw tightened slightly. She still had that lingering lust for blood, for the kill. She drew in a breath as she closed her eyes to push the feeling away. It was a feeling that she had never truly dealt with before. “I just enjoyed the hunt...I...” She let out a long breath. There was something different. Besides the claws that she now had upon her fingertips and her golden hues. Her fangs within her mouth seemed different. They were not the slender delicate fangs of a vampire anymore. It was something different. Stronger almost. Most like that of a Lycan. She could feel it as she ran her tongue along the shape of the fangs in her mouth.
Adelaide bit her lip slightly, “Am...” She looked to him, “What’s going to happen to me Henry?” She questioned softly. “Am I changing...I...” She looked to her hands again she lifted her hands and inspected the claws. Before he pointed it out she hadn’t quite noticed. “I...I can’t...what...what has he done to me?”

Henry didn't have the answers and he wished he did. William was a monster in his own right but there was little he could do to challenge him. He hated himself for being so helpless to assist Adelaide as he heard the worry rising in her voice. "You'll be alright. I'm sure it'll fade. A side affect that without additional doses will eventually subside completely." He reassured her though he wasn't as confident in his words as he sounded as he gave her a smile. "Come, you'll need more blood to heal that wound on your leg. You needed to be a little roughed up but not to this degree." He chuckled and leaned away from Adelaide to grab onto one of the wolves nearby and pulled it over to her. "Here." He said as he let himself fall back to sit on his butt on the ground. His back was already starting to heal.

Adelaide looked to him as he spoke. His voice was strong. Confident. It set aside her worry and soothed her. She gave a soft smile. “I’m sure you’re right.” She whispered softly. She looked to the claws again and frowned slightly. What exactly was William aiming to do? There was no surprise that others he’d tried to do this to died. It wasn’t natural at all. “If I hadn’t gone after the alpha I wouldn’t have gotten this wound.” She sighed softly. It was a stupid choice. But the beast within her had guided her. She could only imagine how much better at hunting she would become if she kept doing this with Henry.
She grasped the wolf and drank from it though she didn’t drain the wolf entirely, just until she felt her leg begin to close. She set it down carefully and then looked to Henry. “Okay...” She spoke with a nod as she stood slowly. She offered him a hand and helped him up from the ground. She gazed up into his eyes and grinned, that wild look still in her eyes. “Thank you, for this.” She spoke with a smirk, her hand rest upon his chest. She looked to her hand and grit her teeth slightly as the claws began to retract and disappear. It was painful. She hadn’t felt the claws form, but reverting back to normal was agonizing. Adelaide then took in a breath as she looked to her hand, a chuckle came over her lips. “Already back to normal.” She smiled and let out a soft chuckle. She looked up to the clouds and her expression fell slightly. “Henry, it’s getting late...” She spoke. “We need to get back to the house...”
She was right, they didn’t have long before the sun would crest over the horizon. She wondered if there would be enough time to get her home to her grandfather. “Come on.” She smiled to Henry as she turned and took off toward the home. She dodged through the trees and grinned as she ran. This, was the best part. She’d never been allowed to do such a thing. This fed the Lycan in her blood, it truly calmed her senses. Adelaide was quick and soon enough she came to his home where she stopped at the back door. She glanced to the sky, rain still fell. “Do we have enough time?” She questioned, she still wasn’t exactly sure where they were.

Henry waited patiently while Adelaide drank and once she had healed enough to stand and move he gladly took her offered hand to get up on his own feet. "I'll take you hunting as often as you like." He promised as she placed her hand upon his chest. Though when she mentioned how late it was getting he looked up to the sky and nodded in agreement. "Let's get back to the house." He said and then followed after her as they made their way back.
When they arrived he opened the door and beckoned her inside. "Unfortunately we don't have enough time so we'll have to stay here for the day." He said in an apologetic tone. "You can take my bed if you like. It's the safest place in the house and I'll sleep on the floor to keep an ear open for trouble." He offered as he lead her inside and back down the stairs to the basement.
After they arrived at the basement he immediately went to the mirror to see what his own wounds were looking like. Luckily they had mostly healed though his skin was still covered in mud, blood and grime. "We're both a mess. Would you like to bathe before you sleep?" He asked.

Adelaide smiled to his comment that he would take her hunting as often as she wanted. Such freedom. She’d never had it before. It was always what someone else wanted of her, never what she wanted. She nodded when he stated that they would not be able to make it to her home. Unfortunate yes, but it would add to the suspense for her grandfather whom she was certain was worried about her. Even if he was a monster he did have some form of care for her. Even if it was twisted and bent on power. “I don’t want to kick you out of your own bed, Henry.” She spoke as she followed him. Her eyes once again looked to his collection of weapons.
She stepped up to the mirror with him to look at herself, mud and blood covered her. She looked to his back and gingerly touched the wounds again, her golden hues focused on the injuries for a long moment. She then looked to herself in the mirror. Her eyes were not changing back to hazel, though she didn’t hold a lust for blood. She pulled a bit at the clothing to pull it from her shoulder slightly, she winced as she looked to the deep bite wound from the alpha. It burned, much like the injection that she was given. She wasn’t used to pain, or injuries. That was an advantage to living the lifestyle that she was raised in. She took in a breath and looked to him when he mentioned a bath. “That would be lovely.” She smiled, “I don’t think I’ve ever had to much mud in my hair.” She laughed as she reached up and pulled the leather cord from her hair which fell easily to the sides. She smirked as she looked to him once again, her eyes moved over him a moment before she looked away and cleared her throat slightly. She glanced back to him as she stepped toward the small bathroom. “Is this where you bathe?” She questioned as she looked inside once again. “Could you spare me another piece of clothing?” She smiled to him, “I seem to be ill prepared for a sleep over.” She grinned as she stepped back to him, her eyes searched his a moment. Her lips parted to speak though she didn’t say a word as she pulled her eyes away from him once again.

"I would rather give up my bed than have you sleep anywhere else." He replied and when she asked for something else to where besides the torn and bloodied set of long johns she currently wore he nodded and stepped over to a trunk he had tucked away in the corner of the room. It was a trunk he hardly ever opened and he even hesitated before doing so this time.
He passively listened to her move around the room until she came closer to him to which he looked up to meet her gaze. "Yeah, I pretty much live exclusively down here except for the wine cellar." He smirked as she looked up at him and he pulled out a soft, light blue woman's night gown from the trunk. "This should fit you better than those do." The gown had been his late wife's but he supposed Adelaide using it was better than it just sitting in a trunk collecting dust.
"If you want something for pain I have something that will help take the edge off. Tastes awful but does wonders when you're trying to sleep." He offered in a soft tone as she stood so close to him.

Adelaide gave a smile, “Spoken like a true gentlemen.” She watched as he searched through the trunk. She saw the hesitation and her brow raised slightly. As she came to his side she smiled, her eyes looked over his back again. She felt horrible for his injuries, it was her fault in the end. She took the soft gown into her hands and gave a smile. “This is lovely.” She spoke as she looked up to him. She smirked slightly, “The pain isn’t what’s troubling me, Henry.” She spoke and then shook her head. “Though, maybe that will help take the edge off, as you say.” She searched his eyes a moment before she turned her attention away again. “I’ll go get cleaned up.” She stepped to the bathroom then and closed the door behind her.
Adelaide turned to the bath and drew hot water. Steam rose in the room and soon enough she stripped herself of the long johns. She looked to herself in the mirror, her golden hues seemed to glow in the dim light of the small bathroom. She looked to her shoulder and felt the wound gingerly a moment before she climbed into the water. She relaxed down into the heat of the water and even dipped her head back into the water as she let out a long sigh. She spent a fair amount of time cleaning up, scrubbing the mud and blood from her body. Soon enough Adelaide emerged from the bathroom in the soft night gown, it hugged her body and fit her perfectly. “That was just what I needed.” She spoke as she walked over to him. She drew in a breath as she looked over his wounds once again. “Is there anything I can do?” She asked her voice soft. “I feel horrible for causing this...”

When Adelaide left his side to close herself in the bathroom and started her bath Henry finally let out a long sigh. "Just don't." He muttered to himself and shook his head before starting over to an old bookshelf filled with bottles, bowls and bags of various reagents that he could mix together to make the concoction that would help with both of their pain. A few herbs crushed into a fine powder, a couple drops of oils and the final touch - a bit of blood so that their bodies readily accepted the mixture. The smell alone was a bit repulsive but he was used to it as it was a common mixture he made.
When he heard the door to the bathroom open he glanced back over his shoulder and his breath caught in his chest a bit as he saw how the gown hugged her body. He forced himself to look away and back to the bowl of dark, syrupy liquid that he was holding in his hand. "Nah, don't worry about it. It'll heal fast enough and besides I made enough drought for both of us." He replied and turned towards her so she couldn't see the long gashes on his back any longer. "Here." He scooped up a spoonful of the medicine and held it out to her. "I suggest holding your nose or something to take it. It's pretty bad, but works in seconds." He told her with a crooked smile.

Adelaide watched him as he stirred the mixture together. “Drought...” She spoke the word as he held the spoon toward her. “That name doesn’t quite draw me in.” She took the spoon from him. “But if it works in seconds, I can’t argue that.” She smirked as she held her nose and she tilted back her head as she took the syrupy liquid into her mouth. She choked and coughed a bit to the flavor and shook her head. “Oh man...” She wrinkled her nose as she held the spoon back toward him. Though he was right, the pain seemed to float away. A smile curved up her lips as she felt as though she was lifted onto a cloud. “That is incredible though.” She spoke with a nod.
Adelaide felt almost high from the mixture. She couldn’t help but smile as she looked to Henry. “Didn’t you look in the mirror?” She asked as she reached forward and brushed a bit of mud from his cheek. Her hand lingered there a long moment as she stared into his eyes. Her fingertips curled along the side of his neck. She let out a soft hum as she stood there, close enough to feel his breath upon her face. She had a habit of getting awkwardly close to him. There was something about him that broke down her barriers that she held up so confidently with others. “Thank you, Henry.” She spoke after a long moment of silence, her golden hues searched his a long moment. Be it the Drought or the high from the hunt, she leaned up and placed a kiss upon his lips, and it was quite a lusty kiss. More so than the gentle peck that she’d given him in the past for show. Her fingers had even curled into his hair slightly as she did so. Though as soon as she did it she took a step back and bit her lip. Adelaide drew in a breath. “My apologies….I...” She flattened the gown as she looked up to him again, as if she didn’t know what to do with her hands.

Henry chuckled as she wrinkled her nose and coughed after taking the mixture. He hadn't been lying when he said it was pretty bad. When she handed the spoon back to him he scooped up the remainder from the bowl and took his own dose and even sighed as he felt his muscles relax and the pain fade away. He didn't quit get the high feeling anymore, after taking it for so long, but he did feel relaxed and a bit more carefree.
As she reached up to brush the mud from his cheek he held her gaze and clinched his jaw as he felt those lustful feeling starting to rise up within him once more. He'd been fighting them for a while now and as her lips met his he nearly let himself slip in his resolve. Luckily she slipped away from him just before his hands could move to grab her and hold her close. "Don't apologize." He replied and grit his teeth together as he fought against a different beast that lived within every man. "I.. uh.. think I'll go wash up now as well. You can lay down if you wish and I'll keep watch to make sure no humans under your father's employ try and surprise us while we sleep." He offered and gave her a gentle smile before forcing himself to turn away from her and heading into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.

Adelaide felt a knot form in her stomach as she watched Henry grit his teeth. The kiss wasn’t truly a mutual thing. She looked away from him as he walked toward the bathroom. “Okay...” She spoke and gave a slight nod as he disappeared into the bathroom. “Stupid...” She muttered to herself. She was so used to the men that swooned over her simply because she was a Bennett. She’d never felt such a way toward another vampire, at least not as strongly as she did in that moment. She looked to the place where William had injected her, it felt like all of her normal instincts and walls that she held so highly had been knocked down. There was a beast within her that she didn’t quite know how to handle.
She walked over to the bed and sat down for a moment. She looked about the room, to the various items. After she sat for several minutes she stood and made her way over to one of the weapons benches. She reached forward and grasped a different revolver. It was beautifully crafted it artful swirls about the barrel. She smiled as she rolled the barrel shaped chamber from the gun and she spun it around. She looked over the workmanship and then she set it back down. Adelaide lifted a shotgun then and looked over it, she could tell it was used quite a bit, it hadn’t been cleaned since the last use. Perhaps he was too busy? She brushed a bit of the gunpowder from the back of the chamber and stared down the sights. She hadn’t been around many guns, her grandfather didn’t allow her around such items.
**
“What did you do, Nicholas?” Vincent stood before Nicholas in his study. “Where is she?” He snarled.
“I don’t know! Why do you blame me?” Nicholas spoke quickly. “I tried to save her! You should direct your anger at that commoner! He never came back! I bet this was his plan all along!”
Vincent snarled as he shoved passed Nicholas. “A gargoyle doesn’t just attack. It doesn’t just swoop in and take my granddaughter.” He narrowed his brows as he stepped from his study and walked down the stairs where five men stood. “I want the streets combed for her.” He spoke to the humans. “I want homes searched. Everything needs to be turned upside down. I can’t lose her….I lost her parents to hunters...I cannot lose her.” His voice was soft as he finished, sadness crept in.
Nicholas stood behind him. “Hunters?” He questioned. “I thought it was an accident at the warehouse?”
Vincent turned to look to him. “No, that is the story I told sweet Addie. I couldn’t bare to tell her that her mother and father were murdered by a hunter when she was young...” He sighed softly as he climbed the stairs. “We wait until the sun sets and hopefully...we can pray that she turns back up.”
**
Adelaide had a knife in her hand, she ran her thumb along the blade a smile about her lips. The high feeling had yet to leave her body. She wasn’t tired. She should have been exhausted but she didn’t feel that at all. She turned the blade over in her hand as she looked to the hilt which also seemed to be hand crafted. Henry was quite the artisan it seemed.

In the shower Henry didn't bother to turn on the heat what so ever and instead let the cool water wash away the tension that was building within him. Why? He thought to himself. Why her? She's the grand daughter of the monster I've been hunting for decades and yet.. His thoughts trailed off as he wasn't sure where he wanted them to lead. Sure, she hadn't committed the atrocities that her family had in the past but did that really make her completely innocent? Yes, it did. At least by his code. She was kept oblivious to her grandfather's dealings and then bartered off to feed his ever growing lust for power and control. Was it so wrong to let himself feel something besides anger and a desire for revenge?
He groaned and refocused his attention on cleaning the mud and blood from his body and hair and quickly got out of the bath once more. He put on a fresh pair of pants and a loose fitting shirt that still left a good bit of his chest exposed as he didn't bother to close up the neck. When he came back out into the bedroom he saw that Adelaide was admiring some of his weapon pieces that had been laying out, a dagger with one of his carved handles in her hand. "Do you like that one?" He asked her as he ran his fingers through his still damp hair and came to stand directly behind her. "You can have it if you like. The blade is a bit small and light for my tastes but the woodwork came out nice." He looked to her from the blade she held.

Adelaide didn’t move as he spoke. He came close to her, standing directly behind her. She could see his reflection in the blade. “It’s a beautiful piece.” She spoke as she set it on the table. “I wouldn’t have any use for it would I?” She turned and leaned against the table, her back pressed against it. She looked up to him. Her eyes searched his once again. “Though, I may take you up on it, just for the woodwork. It was very well done. You’ve quite a few very artfully crafted weapons. I’ve never seen art like it before.” She shifted slightly and swallowed. Her hands were upon the table next to her hips. She didn’t move from where she stood though. “I...um..” She bit her lip slightly and looked to the side. She seemed to think deeply as she fell quiet a moment. If she didn’t look at him she didn’t have to see his reactions. She also didn’t have to look at his bare chest that was exposed. What was he doing? If he was trying to toy with her to gain her attention then so be it. He’d gotten her attention.
Adelaide clenched her jaw slightly. “Is it normal to feel so light headed?” She asked as she looked back to him. “The medicine...it makes you feel high?” She asked as she looked up from where she leaned against the table. “My whole body feels as though I am on a cloud.” She gave a smile. “I um...” She drew in a breath. “I’m sorry about before...Henry...I think just everything...is...well...” She pressed her lips together. “It’s a lot to take in...” She stared to him then, unsure of what else to say.

He had messed up. Not exactly sure how, but her hesitation told him everything he needed to know. Over fifty years old and yet he was still rather clueless when it came to women. When she asked about the light headed feeling he chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck as he nodded. "Yeah, it can have that affect unfortunately. I'm used to it and it doesn't do much to me anymore but for your first time it can be a little disorienting." He felt a little worse now. Perhaps it was his drugs that had made her act the way she did, and he was being a fool thinking otherwise. "After you rest a bit it'll fade and you'll feel like your normal self." He promised and finally turned away from her to head and sit on the edge of the bed for a moment.
"I'm sorry if I'm not a very gracious host. Not that it's an excuse but it's been a very long time since I've entertained company." He chuckled again, uneasy. "If I make you uncomfortable please tell me so. I don't want you to think you're being by telling me to keep my distance."

Adelaide watched him. His reaction reminded her of a scolded child. Yet she hadn’t scolded him at all. It was her hesitation perhaps? She gazed up to him as he explained the Drought. “It isn’t really disorienting.” She spoke with a soft smile. “I feel very calm, actually.” She watched as he sat on the edge of the bed. She remained where she was. When he apologized to her she drew her brows together. “Henry...you...did nothing wrong.” She spoke as she moved forward. She stepped to him and paused before him as she bit her lip. “I think I was the one that pushed boundaries.” She had her arms crossed. She wanted to embrace him, to kiss him again. But she fought with herself and told herself not to do such a thing.
“To think, you would never truly have such feelings for someone such as myself.” She shook her head. “I’m the thing that you hunt and my grandfather is the monster that you despise the most….” She let out a soft sigh. She still stood, just a few feet in front of him, her eyes looked down to him. “I want to end the reign of fear that my grandfather has created Henry...and I trust that I can do that with you...even if that sounds crazy...I believe it...” She focused on him, her expression was soft.
