Skylar was silent on the drive over, she gripped Eva’s hand gently as she thought of how Remi pulled her soul from her chest. How? He didn’t explain anything, he just expected her to do it. She watched as Eva marched to the café, Skylar had just gotten out of the car and was walking up as Eva came back out. “Hey…you can.” She gave a gentle smile and placed her hand on her shoulder. Then, they stepped inside. She trailed slightly behind Eva looking around the café, she remembered the grand opening. Her parents had come. Skylar gave a smile when Eva’s father mentioned her. “Mr. Brewster.” She nodded to him. “Thank you.” She placed a few dollars on the table.
“I haven’t seen you in years.” Eva’s father spoke a grin on his face.
Skylar held the paper in her hand, it was just a few minutes from the time of Belinda’s death. She looked around again. “Yeah, I’ve been busy with law school.” She gave a gentle smile. “Is Belinda around?”
Eva’s father’s expression fell slightly, “Yeah…” He furrowed his brows. “What’s this all about?” He asked and wiped down the counter, he glanced to Eva a few more times.
“Just tying up some loose ends on a case I’m working, someone mentioned her name.” Skylar gave a smile.
Eva’s mother walked into the room then from the back kitchen, she had striking resemblances to Eva. Skylar bit her lip slightly. She watched as Eva’s father gave a nod and went into the back kitchen. He came back out and shook his head. “I’m not sure where she could have gone.” He spoke.
The door to the café opened then and in came three men with ski masks. “Put your hands up!” The lead man spoke. Skylar’s eyes widened, she looked to Eva’s parents and then to Eva. The men rushed forward to the counter. “Empty the register lady!” He ordered.
Movement was heard from the backroom, Belinda came running into the front, “What’s going—“ One of the robbers, with a trigger happy finger squeezed the trigger of his assault rifle. The sound of gunfire rang out in the café.
The lead man grabbed the cash from Eva’s mother. He held his gun up and opened fire, “Let’s go you idiots!” He yelled. He turned and grabbed Skylar. He wrapped his arm around her neck and pulled her backward, aiming the gun in at the Brewster family. When he got to the door he kicked her forward and ran, the vehicle they came in squealed off.
Skylar stumbled forward and leaned against the counter. She stared to Belinda whom stood in shock, she gripped her stomach as blood poured out. Eva’s mother was already on the phone for help. Skylar stepped forward as Belinda collapsed to the ground. The world seemed to freeze around her as she reached forward, her hand pushed into Belinda’s chest, she made a tight fist and pulled out. Skylar looked to the spirit in her hand, her jaw loose. She stood and took a few steps back.
“What…what happened?” Belinda’s spirit asked staring around. “I…” She stared to her now lifeless body on the ground. The world was still frozen.
“You’ve been shot.” Skylar spoke softly, “Now comes the time that you must pay for what you have done.” Skylar stared into her eyes.
Belinda took in a breath, sadness in her eyes. “I…I was a child…I…” She stammered.
Skylar released the soul. The world began moving around her again, the cries of Eva’s mother filled her ears. Skylar looked to the scene, Eva’s father held Belinda’s lifeless body. Shortly after the ambulance rushed in. She stood motionless the entire time. Belinda stood next to her in spirit form. “It’s time to go.” She whispered and pulled Belinda’s soul outside, she also grasped Eva’s hand and pulled her along. Skylar looked to Belinda as she pulled her scythe from thin air, as if she’d done it a thousand times before. She then swung the scythe, slicing into the soul. Flames appeared beneath Belinda, she screamed as hands reached up out of the ground toward her and pulled her down. Belinda’s screamed faded away just as the flames disappeared. Skylar stood motionless, blood dripping from her nose, she felt dizzy. She leaned heavily against the side of her car, her eyes fluttered. The amount of power that Greystoke held was impressive. She hadn’t even cracked the surface yet.
“Wonderful!” Remi’s voice filled her ears, the world around her once again stopped. “See? Now was that so hard?” He stepped forward and gripped her jaw. “You’ve got a little something….” He brushed the blood away and then snickered. “You know, I’d love to see you really use your powers.” He grinned, “If your body is this affected by you using just a pinch of power.” He chuckled, “Just wait until you actually use your powers for the first time. You think me giving you the mark and unlocking your powers hurt?” He shook his head, “No, no, my dear girl, just wait.” He then grabbed the scythe from her hands it burst into ashes. Skylar didn’t speak, her body trembled, tears welled in her eyes. Remi tilted his head slightly as he watched her, “You’ll get used to it, Skylar.” He grinned. “Oh, one last thing.” He handed her another slip of paper, “Do take care of this one for me, would you?” He smirked, “It should be easy, now.”
The world resumed, Skylar gasped for air, she unraveled the paper in her hands and blinked several times, Eva Brewster. Skylar leaned against the car as the spirit of the young Eva appeared before her. She had a smile on her lips. “Thank you, Sky.” She touched her hand. Skylar reached forward and placed her hand on the young Eva’s shoulder and gave a nod, just then a flash of light and power came from the soul and then….she was gone.
Skylar looked to Eva, blood dripped from her nose to the ground, she wiped it away, but it kept coming. She was dizzy, weak. Skylar hugged herself to Eva for a long moment, “Eva…I think…I…” Her eyes fluttered just before her body fell limp and darkness consumed her vision, she fell unconscious.

Eva grit her teeth when the man came in, holding a gun out. A first she was going to woop his ass, and then she remembered that she couldn’t. If she stopped them … then the course of fate would be altered. In reality she shouldn’t be there, and only was because the reaper made it so. That was already a cost at fate.
Eva gasped when she heard a bullet fire off. She stumbled towards the counter and looked to Belinda. She gazed to Eva for a long moment, her eyes hazing over… Eva reached forward and grabbed her shoulders. “Hey” she spoke, turning her head just as she said. Her hands fell from Belinda, her big sister, when they grabbed Skylar. “Skylar!” she shouted and rushed forward, just then the guys were gone…
Eva rushed to Skylar, to make sure was okay. Eva touched Skylar’s lower back just as she moved… just when the world froze. The contact pulled her through and she watched quietly. She winced as Skylar’s hand entered Belinda’s chest, the blue huey essence of her soul came forward. Eva crossed her arms and stared to Belinda. Belinda’s eyes searched around, looking to Eva and then Skylar.. when suddenly she was yanked down.
Eva turned her head when a high pitched enthusiastic voice came out of no where - Remi. Usually she couldn’t see these actions but her contact with Remi opened that world to her. Her eyes looked over the small paper that Remi handed over… Just as the world returned to normal - the little girl came walking down the road. The young girl stopped before Eva and nodded her head thank you. Eva knelt down and placed her hand on the young girl’s shoulder. “You’re welcome… Rest easy” she whispered and then stood up. Eva stood at the car as the girl approached Skylar… she crossed her arms and then leaned her head backwards as the bright light burst from the girl….
Eva rushed over to Skylar as she collapsed into her arms. “Hey” he whispered. Just then the world seem to resume normally, no one saw them... Belinda’s body still sat in the kitchen, blood pooling about her… Both her mother and father sobbed, even wailed slightly. Once they had two beautiful children… Now they were both dead.
Eva placed her hand on the car, her arm wrapped about the unconscious Skylar… she focused deeply and then they teleported. She gasped loudly, like she had held her breath for a while. The car sat parked infront of the hotel… they were infront of their door. She pulled the key out of Skylar’s back pocket with one hand.. she awkwardly opened the door and rushed Skylar in. She set her down on the bed and shut the door.. where then she grabbed a bathroom rag and got it damp.
Eva wiped away the blood that trailed down her nose, lips and crusted about her chin. “It’ll get easier” she whispered and then patted her whole face with the cold damp rag. “You know..” she whispered and shook her head slightly, sitting down on the bed, next to Skylar. “You… can’t stay here. Not if you have those powers… it will be so hard to hide them, but if you show them then the entire world will freak out on you. And in this world.. who knows.. you might become some test subject doomed to needles and white coats” she whispered and shook her head. “How do I ask you?” she continued to talk, knowing that Skylar was still unconscious… “How do I ask you to come with me?”

Skylar’s breathing echoed in her ears, her pulse was slow and boomed in a deep base against her eardrums. The world around her was ice cold, silent. She felt as though she was floating through air, weightless, and all at the same time she felt as though she had been buried under a mile of sand. She finally mustered the energy to open her eyes, she stared up upon a starry sky, the moon was full. Slowly she sat up, cracking sounded beneath her. She looked around to find that she was sitting in the middle of a lake. The sound of the ice cracking beneath her was deafening. Skylar looked around, staying as still as possible. “Eva?” She asked, worry in her voice. “Eva, where are you?” She looked to find the gazebo of the lake. She could see a silhouette within the shadows. The gazebo was decorated with Christmas lights, in the distance she could see the Christmas tree lit up in beautiful lights. Skylar moved again, to her hands and knees now, the ice crackled beneath her, groaning to her weight. She grit her teeth as she slowly stood to her feet.
“Sky!” A familiar voice called as she slipped slightly against the icy surface of the lake.
Skylar spun around, the ice beneath her crunched. She slipped forward as her feet slid into the lake. Then, suddenly as the cold surrounded her she felt as though her body was being crushed. She fought against the ice as it pressed her down into the water, she screamed, trying to fight back to the surface of the water. Suddenly she felt a tight grip around her neck, the water around her drained away in the matter of seconds. Skylar stood on a patch of grass in the middle of nowhere, soaking wet. Her body trembled as she looked up to find Remi grinning to her. “Wh-where is Eva?” She questioned.
“Eva, isn’t here.” He spoke, a wicked smile on his lips, he was toying with her.
“Where is she?” Skylar lunged forward, though her limbs became covered in ice and she was frozen into place. She fought against the ice that was surrounding her limbs, “Let me go!” She cried.
“She isn’t here, Skylar. And why would I let you go?” He chuckled, “This is too much fun.” He reached forward, and lifted her chin, staring into her eyes. “You can get out, and you know it.” He turned and began to walk off.
Skylar furrowed her brows, she shut her eyes tightly and took in a deep breath, a burst of magic came from her body, the shadows sliced through the ice that confined her. She ran forward to Remi. “Where is she?!” She snapped as she jumped onto him, this knocked him to his back on the ground. She punched him hard in the jaw. “What did you do?” She punched him again, this time the sweet snap of his nose breaking could be heard and blood gushed from the wound. Remi began to laugh, hysterically. Skylar punched him again, “What did you do?!” She punched thrust her fist into his cheek.
Remi grinned then as he reached both of his hands up, his hands slipped into her body. Skylar’s eyes widened, she could feel her heart strain as he held her there. She felt him crushing her slowly drawing the life out of her. “When will you learn, Skylar?” He asked as he ripped his hand from her chest and slammed her into the ground. Remi stood and dusted himself off. “You’re dreaming.” He spoke and then snapped his fingers.
Skylar gasped as the water of the lake surrounded her once again. She fought against the water and found herself pounding against the icy surface until darkness tunneled in on her vision and eventually everything faded to black.
You know….you can’t stay here if you have those powers…
it will be so hard to hide them, but if you show them then the entire world will freak out on you. And in this world.. who knows.. you might become some test subject doomed to needles and white coats.
How do I ask you?
How do I ask you to come with me?
Skylar’s eyes fluttered, she could feel the damp rag as Eva wiped away the blood from her lips. Eva’s voice was so sweet, soft, it comforted her. “I’ll go…anywhere with you, Eva.” Skylar whispered softly, her voice weak. She opened her eyes, “I know, I can’t stay here…because of these powers…but more importantly, because you can’t stay…I have to go with you.” Skylar took in a small breath, her skin was slightly pale. She gripped Eva’s hand weakly and gave a gentle smile. “What happened Eva? How did we get here?” She looked around the hotel room. “I don’t remember….I remember saving your soul of this world…and then…” She shook her head.

Eva glanced down to Skylar as she spoke. She blushed wildly and set the wet rag down on her knee. “I teleported us here… don’t worry, the car is here too” she smiled and then brushed a bit of hair out of Skylar’s face. “I’m worried for you, though. Your body Is not of magical origin, like mine. The magic is taking a huge toll on your body…” she let out a gentle sigh and then moved up from the bed.
She walked over to the sink and poured a glass of water. “I wonder at what point will you become acclimated to the magic, and you return to being the badass that you once were” she grinned and then made her way back to the bed, holding the glass to her.
“So, then you’re coming with me” she smiled brightly. “We will have to make the remaining time here all about you. To see and do all the things you’ve wanted to do, to say your farewell” she sat back down and looked down for a moment. “But you can’t… really say goodbye, literally. As you know time will revert to the night we met. You’ll just have to make your peace” she smirked weakly and then leaned down and gave her a kiss.
“At least you get another chance, right? I will take you to my home” she chuckled and then shook her head. “Though.. as the protégé of the outsider, my boundaries are limitless” she grinned. “I am thinking… once we settle things in my world, we could pick up and travel the worlds. I’ll figure out how to create an alternate persona, something, I think – why be tied to one world, when I can see them all?” she laughed and then shook her head. “After coming here and seeing how different things can be… It makes me wonder about all the other worlds, you know?” she spoke and then stood up.
“What if one world is all space ships and lazer beams?” she held her hand up in a gun pose and shot her fingers. “Pew pew?” she laughed and then leaned against the desk. “How everything is tied together… too, you know? I’d love to see who we are in each world? You know though, my world isn’t so bad. It is just the Kingdom I live in. Ren and Ayla don’t live in my Kingdom. Mine is actually the worst of all of them.. the rest of the world is just.. amazing” she chuckled. “It has always been my dream to meet Ren, in my world, you know” she winked and then made her way back to the bed.
“So then… whats next? Your bucket list? Your to do list, You’ve fulfilled my wish, now I want to make yours a reality. Lets do anything and everything. Lets fuck shit up, lets use our powers, lets do whatever. When we leave.. they won’t even remember”

Skylar sat up slowly and leaned against the headboard of the bed as she listened to Eva speak. She gave a gentle smile, “I hope my body eventually gets acclimated to this, because…” She shook her head as she took the glass of water, her muscles were on fire. “Everything hurts.” Her voice cracked slightly. Skylar gave an almost sad smile as Eva mentioned her saying her goodbyes. She was overwhelmed with the idea of her family attending her funeral. Then, Eva kissed her. Skylar shut her eyes and placed her hand on the side of Eva’s cheek. The moment seemed to last forever, but in the same respect it was over before she wanted it to be. Skylar leaned back and took a sip of her water as Eva began to talk again. She began to talk about other worlds and her world. Skylar sipped on her water the entire time until the last drop was gone. She ran her fingertip along the edge of the cool glass as she listened.
Skylar let out a laugh as Eva imitated gun shots. She gave a smile when Eva mentioned that her world wasn’t so bad, it was just where she lived, and she mentioned finding Ren in her dimension. “It would be interesting to meet Ren and Ayla of your world, the heroes.” She chuckled before she brought her eyes back to the rim of her glass that she traced. “I…don’t know how to say goodbye, Eva…” She whispered then, her smile fell from her expression. She hadn’t thought of it when she said she would go, though now that Eva brought it up her mind was racing.
Skylar set the glass on the end table and swung her legs over the edge of the bed. She took in a slow breath and shut her eyes a moment. “There are a lot of things I haven’t done.” She let out a soft laugh she stood and stumbled slightly before she landed with her hands on either side of Eva. She looked into Eva’s eyes and smiled before she planted a kiss on her lips. She then leaned her head against Eva, her forehead pressed into Eva’s neck as she took in quick breaths. “This…is...horrible…” She muttered as she pulled away and stumbled back to the bed where she fell onto her back across the bed. She stared up at the spinning ceiling. “This is worse than some of the worst nights fighting I’ve had…” She held her hand to her head and fell silent as she waited for her body to calm down.
Skylar stared up at the ceiling for a long moment, her chest moved quickly as she fought to regain control over her body.
“You’re weak.” Remi appeared out of the shadows in the corner. He wore different clothing than usual. He had on his armor, like he had when he killed Eva in the other world. “Eva is right.” He spoke as he stepped forward, he held something in his hand. “Your body wasn’t designed to take this beating.” He looked to Eva and smirked. “Don’t worry, Eva. I have a fix.” He then lifted his hand and snapped his fingers, freezing the world around him and Skylar.
Skylar stood up slowly, her vision became fuzzy. She stumbled and took a step forward only to fall into the clear glass that seemed to surround her. Her hand pressed against the glass as she stared to Eva. “Eva…” She spoke softly just as the reaper grabbed her by the back of her neck. He pulled her back harshly. Skylar let out a cry as she fell to her back on the ground.
“I have to fix this, before you kill yourself, Skylar.” He spoke as he lifted her up and held her. Skylar fought against his grip, kicking her feet. He chuckled and held her out from his body, “I can wait.” He smirked as her actions slowed, as she became weaker. When Skylar hung limply in his grip he brought her back in close. “I’ve spoken with one of the other Gods on this matter. On Olyver passing, how you’ve become her replacement because her soul is part of you now.” He stared into her eyes with his fiery eyes, a devilish grin on his lips. “It’s never happened before, this situation is completely unique, and has only come about because of Eva’s powers and Olyver’s powers colliding and causing this whole mess. Now I have also learned that if you use too much more of your magic, it could kill you.” He pulled a strange bottle from his pocket, pills rattled around inside of it. He tossed the bottle onto the bed before he pulled another object from his pocket, a syringe filled with a fiery liquid. “This should help.” He smirked, “It’s going to hurt.” He warned. Skylar gripped his hand that held the syringe weakly, she tried to fight against him, but she felt as though she was ripped of all of her strength. “I had the god of strength cook up this concoction for you.” He spoke as he injected it into her by pressing the syringe into the space between her collar bone and neck. Skylar let out a scream as the liquid pushed into her body.
Remi pulled the needle from her and set her down on the bed. He lifted the pills and shook the bottle. “Take these.” He spoke. He stared at her for a moment, Skylar’s pulse quickened. He winced as she let out a painful cry. Remi growled slightly before he snapped his fingers and disappeared into a burst of ashes.
Skylar gasped for air, her body felt as though it was ripping to pieces. She tried to stand, her eyes were full of fire. Her skin was hot as though she had a fever. She stumbled into Eva and gripped onto her for support. Tears rolled down her cheeks. This was it. This was her transformation that she had undergone in the other dimension. This was the pain that Skylar Olyver would never speak of. “E-Eva…” She choked, blood in her mouth, blood dripped from her nose. She trembled, her veins in her arms could be seen. She fell to the floor, shadows surrounded her, ripping her apart. Skylar screamed in pain as she fought against it. “Make it stop!” She cried as she tried to get up. She couldn’t, she didn’t have any control. Time slowed, then sped up, then completely stopped. Then once again time resumed. Skylar whimpered and then she disappeared into the shadows, seeming to melt into the floor. A moment later she fell from the ceiling of the room onto the bed. The bottle of pills bounced off of the bed and rattled onto the floor. Skylar lay motionless, her breaths quick. Blood leaked from the corner of her mouth and nose, as well as her ears now. The world was crushing her body. She could feel her heart as it skipped around quickly within her chest. Skylar rolled to the side, she fell weakly to the floor and gripped the bottle of pills with her shaky hand. She managed to pull one of the pure black pills from the bottle. Skylar whimpered as time fluctuated around her. The lights in the room flickered on and off. She swallowed the pilled just as she was engulfed in shadows. Skylar disappeared once again and when she reappeared she was in front of Eva. Her fiery eyes full of fear. She clutched onto Eva, she looked like a scene from a horror movie with all of the blood. Skylar’s grip loosened and fell away from Eva Skylar stumbled back and fell onto the bed again, she grit her teeth to the pain that coursed through her body. She wasn’t ready for this, she never imagined pain this great in her life…

Eva stepped forward just as the Reaper appeared. She grit her teeth, her eyebrows squeezing in tight. As she moved forward her head smashed into the glass that appeared before her. She brought her fists to the glass and beat against it. She watched as Remi stabbed her with the syringe, she grit her teeth harder and stepped back. “Fucker” she cried out, unknowing of his intentions.
As her anger rose, her eyes watching Skylar suffer in agony. There was blood every where, about her face, on the ground and smeared on her arms – as she had wiped at it. Skylar’s body began to glow black, the aura seeping from her skin like water being dragged into space. Her eyes shot black and her body rose into the air slightly. She brought her hands together and then thrusted them forward – a giant blast of black energy emit from her palms as she slammed into the glass.
Suddenly the glass shattered and fell to the ground in a vicious motion of power. Remi turned his head just before he disappeared. Suddenly the entire room began to shake – the roof flew off of the building. Above the building was a huge black cloud that circled above the hotel. In the black of the cloud you could see stars twinkling, a nebula in the distance, it was some kind of vision of space – the void. From the center of the spinning cloud was a hole, that pulled the world upward slightly.
Eva grasped Skylar as she fell to her, holding her close. “Sky” she whispered, her voice was altered – some kind of underlining voice was under it, distorting her vocal chords slightly. The building shook as parts of the hotel broke off – huge pieces of sheet rock float towards the sky. A broke toilet, desk, several snapped 2 by 4’s.. each moment that passed – another piece of their world was sucked into the void.
Eva’s hair fluttered about, but she didn’t feel the gravity of her powers, lifting everything up. She moved forward to Skylar and grabbed her by the shirt. She pulled her in close and held her. When she turned her head the Outsider floated next to her, arms crossed. He laughed and lifted his head back. He blinked and suddenly the world returned back to its normal state… the hotel was put back together in an instant.
Eva gasped loudly as her body reverted back to normal. She held Skylar still in her arms. Her entire body shook – her powers crushing her. “Skylar, hold on!” she cried out. Suddenly Skylar disappeared from her arms, the shadows stole her. Eva stumbled forward and looked about the room. Eva turned and Skylar was before her. Skylar then gripped her hands, refusing to let go. “Focus on me” she spoke. “I know it hurts” she urged. “Look at me” she then moved forward. She planted her lips on Skylar’s, her hands moving to each of her cheeks. She could feel the tears and blood under her fingertips. She kissed sweetly, passionately. The thought over and over in her head :
I’ve got you…. I’ve got you…. I’ve got you She whispered it over and over in her head.
You got this… you can do it… She squeezed her eyebrows together in the kiss.
I believe in you

Skylar squeezed her eyes shut as her body continued to fight against her. She felt Eva's hands holding her cheeks, the sweet kiss from Eva. Then, she heard Eva's voice inside of her head, encouraging her. Skylar gripped onto Eva's, holding onto her hips as her body coursed with power. She pressed her bloodied lips against Eva, focusing on her, trying everything she could to forget the pain, to ignore it. She could feel her clothing lifting from the hole that was created in the sky. When the Outsider fixed Eva's whirlwind of destruction Skylar collapsed against Eva, her head pressed into the nape of Eva's neck. She whimpered, her body still in an incredible amount of pain.
Skylar’s body shook as she stepped back to the bed, her hand held Eva’s. She collapsed onto the bed then, falling into a deep state of unconsciousness. Her body was hot, her temperature was easily over 104, she was on fire. Skylar’s breaths were fast, her body quaking as she lay, her legs hung off the side of the bed. Her fists clenched tightly shut, her brows pulled together and her jaw clenched. Her face was full of pain.
Skylar gasped for air, her body flickered as she held herself up with a cold metal railing that overlooked the city. “Make…it stop…” She whimpered, her breaths heavy. “Please….stop…please….” She cried.
Remi walked up from behind her, he drew his brows together. “I can’t.” He spoke softly. “You have to go through this, you’ll be okay.” He placed his hand on her forehead. “Just relax.” A red glow came from his hand.
Skylar stared at him with her fiery eyes, Her vision began to cave in, the world began to spin quickly. She could hear Remi speaking, but she couldn’t make any words out, until finally, darkness surrounded her once more and her pain melted away.
Hours passed, the night grew old and soon the sun was pushing into the sky the next morning. All through the night Skylar whimpered in her sleep. By the morning hours her temperature had lowered significantly, the pill that she had taken was doing its job to keep her alive. Her skin was cold to touch, almost icy. Skylar opened her eyes and gasped, she sat up, her body trembled.
”Take the pill, Skylar. You need to take them to stay alive.
Remi’s voice sounded in her head. Skylar fell from the bed and grasped the bottle that was on the floor. It had dried blood on it from the night before. Skylar pulled another pill from the bottle and dropped it into her mouth as she screwed the cap back onto the bottle. Skylar lay on the floor for a long time, her body felt like it was on fire.
Skylar eventually stood up. She looked to Eva and took in a breath, she furrowed her brows and sat down next to Eva on the bed. She brushed her hair from her eyes. She knew Eva must have been awake all night, worried sick. Skylar leaned down and kissed Eva’s forehead for a moment just before her phone began to ring. She searched her pockets and shakily brought her phone to her ear. “Greystoke.” She spoke, her voice weak.
“Woah, Sky, are you okay?” Ayla’s voice spoke. “I’ve been trying to get ahold of you for hours. What happened?”
Skylar leaned her body against the headboard. “It’s…hard to explain, I’m okay.” She whispered.
“Well where are you anyway? We have that party to go to tonight, remember? The big ball? I’m not going to let you duck out on this one.” Ayla gave a laugh, “Just because you were up too late.” She chuckled. “Ren and I will be there at 5, I’ll see you then.” The phone then hung up.
Skylar let the phone drop from her hand, her arm collapsed into her lap as she stared to the room, her blood in the carpet. No wonder she was so weak. How much blood did she lose? “Eva….” She whispered weakly. She moved and lay down next to her and snuggled against Eva’s body. “Eva…we need to go.” She kissed her cheek. Skylar’s body trembled again. She grit her teeth from the pain and shut her eyes as she focused, trying to ignore the amount of pain she was in. Skylar pushed herself up from the bed and stumbled into the bathroom. She stared at herself in the mirror for a long moment, leaning heavily against the bathroom sink. She looked at the dried blood on her arms, on her face. She moved and turned on the shower. Skylar pulled off her clothing and climbed into the warm water. She turned the temperature until the water was cool against her skin. She took in a breath as she slid down the side of the shower and sat motionless.
Skylar stayed there for a good amount of time, her body began to shiver from the cold water. She shut her eyes as she pulled her knees into her chest, she thought of her life here. She thought of every memory she could possibly remember. She then began to think of how everyone would react to her death. Her mother would be crushed. Her father, busy as always, would most likely press on, though in grief. She then thought of Ayla and Ren. She had been friends with Ayla for years, they grew up together, what would happen? Skylar began to sob as she thought of this…

Eva filled Skylar’s glass when her phone rang. She turned her head slightly, trying to over hear the conversation. She could hear Ayla mentioning the ball and then she glanced away. “I can get us there, if you want..” she tilted her head and then she walked over, picking up the phone and setting it on the table. “You okay?” she whispered and crawled onto the bed, next to her. She wrapped her arm around Skylar and kissed the top of her forehead.
“You know we went a masquerade once” she spoke softly, grinning. “We were there to stop the assassination of my sister, actually, Belinda – the leader of the rebellion.” She glanced down, seeing that skylar was drifting to sleep. “You lead the mission… you and Booker. You stopped the 3 men, and I was able to locate the leader, who I didn’t know was Belinda, and stand guard of her. But..” she grinned and snuggled closer. “We danced twice. You… are a very good dancer” she chuckled and then nuzzled her head against hers. “I remember that night quite well, it was the night I started to develop deeper feelings for you” she caressed her cheek and then shut her eyes.
Then Skylar got up, to take a shower.. Eva watched her step away to the bathroom and then swung her legs over the side of the bed. She took in a deep breath and then let it out slowly… slowly she made her way to the bathroom as the water started. She heard a sniffling sound over the fall of the water, then a muffled cry…
Eva slowly opened the door, soft enough where she could hear her. Quietly she slipped her pants down on the ground, in a pile next to Skylar’s. Then she pulled her shirt off, unclipped her bra. She stepped over to the shower and pulled the curtain slightly, glancing down to Skylar who sat on the floor of the tub. She slowly stepped in and sat down behind Skylar, her legs spreading out around her. She wrapped her arms around Skylar, resting on her stomach, and then pressed her cheek against her back. She rest there for a moment, letting the cold water hit her body. After a second passed she pulled the washrag from the side of the tub and wiped away at the caked on blood about her shoulder… She then stood and helped her up, facing her in the shower.
“It’s okay… to cry” she whispered and then kissed her sweetly. After the kiss passed she filled her palm with shampoo and brought it to her short hair. She massaged it in, her nails scraping against her scalp – massaging her. “Hey” she whispered, her thumb pressing against her jaw. “It’ll be okay… I promise” she brushed her thumb against her cheek, the blood melted away into the water. Her hand moved and wrapped around her waist, holding her close to her body as the water fell over them. “This contraption” she whispered, grinning from one side, “Is pretty cool.. like being in a waterfall… I will miss it” she chuckled and then looked to Skylar…

Skylar’s eyes opened and her body tensed when Eva slipped in behind her. She still trembled as tears rolled down her cheeks, a whimper escaped her lips as she placed her hands over Eva’s. She closed her eyes and relaxed her body back into Eva. She was shaky when Eva helped her stand. Skylar leaned against her and pressed her forehead against Eva’s, her fiery eyes looked deeply into Eva’s. Her breath caught in her chest, she was nervous, incredibly nervous. This was a first. This whole situation….Eva’s hands moving over her head, massaging the shampoo into her hair, it felt so incredible. Skylar’s hands moved and rested on Eva’s hips, the feeling of her hands against Eva’s body caused her heart to skip a beat. She let out a shaken breath. She couldn’t comprehend this. This…whole situation. “Eva….” She breathed. Her eyes fluttered, she leaned forward, her hands still held onto Eva. She opened her eyes again, her body was still tense. She swallowed, her nervousness could be seen easily.
Skylar stood with the water cascading over her body, she shivered, she stared into Eva’s eyes, “Eva…” She blinked away the water, she took in a shaken breath again and then let it out slowly. Trying to calm herself. Time shifted around dangerously fast, skipping and reverting. The water stopped falling upon them, and then it would rush over their bodies. Skylar trembled, she placed her hands on either side of Eva’s face and then stepped forward and kissed her then. The kiss was lustful and full of passion. Skylar held her there, their bodies pressed against each other for a long moment before she stepped back. Skylar stared at Eva, her back pressed against the cold tile of the shower. She turned the knob until the water slowed and eventually turned off. Skylar pulled a towel and quickly wrapped it around herself. She swallowed hard, “Um…” She looked to Eva and handed her a towel, she smiled nervously as she helped Eva wrap it around her body. She then helped her with another towel for her hair. Water dripped down Skylar’s face from her own soaking wet hair. She bit her lip and took in a breath, “Eva…I….um….” Her cheeks were bright red. “You’re um…you…” She leaned against the wall and shut her eyes a moment, trying to focus. “You’re really beautiful.” She whispered, her voice sounded as though it was caught in her chest. “Really….stunning…um…” She gave a nervous laugh. “I…um…” She pulled on her leggings. “I…” She shook her head. “I uh….” She was so nervous, she couldn’t remember ever being so nervous.
Skylar stepped back as she slipped her bra on before she pulled on her shirt. She took in a breath, time skipped around a bit again, her powers were really unstable. The shadows in the room crawled toward her. Skylar looked to Eva for a long moment, she stepped forward and her lips parted to speak just before the shadows engulfed her. Skylar screamed as she fell through the floor. A moment later she came flying through the wall of the bedroom. She slammed against the desk and choked slightly, Skylar stumbled and sat on the edge of the bed. Her mind was sprinting in thoughts now. She bit her lip again, she couldn’t stop thinking about Eva now.

Eva pressed her cheek into Skylar’s hand as she reached up to her. As Skylar closed the distance – Eva pulled her even closer. She pressed her body directly onto hers, their warm skin colliding… she brought her lips to hers and accepted the kiss and all of its throttle. She moved her lips swiftly with Skylar’s, a rush of adrenaline and passion rushed through her body. Her hands moved on their own, slipping over the curve of Skylar’s body, finding their way to the small of her back.
She felt a slight breeze as the water stopped. She peeked an eye open mid kiss to see the water moving forward… then back, slowly then fast. Her powers were reacting along with the kiss. Eva felt the kiss intensify, the fire was hot… she pulled away and took in a fast breath. Her entire body buzzed insanely, she wanted. She moved her hands away quickly, as they seem to want to drift. She had touched her hips, sides, curves, small of her back, even grazed over her rear – she let that kiss sink in. She remembered how she pulled her close, their hips even gave a slight grinding motion. The entire while her thoughts buzzed - Skylar was muttering and stuttering, trying to get dressed.
Eva blushed wildly, “I – um” she glanced away, realizing the whole while she had just done that. She had undressed and climbed in, not thinking of anything, just doing. She brought her arms over her breasts, covering them as she realized she was suddenly so bare infront of her. What was she thinking? “t-thank you” she whispered and watched Skylar leave the room.
Eva stepped out and pulled the towel around her. She heard a scream – a loud bang… Eva rushed out of the room and ran into the room. Eva held the towel close and came to Skylar – just as she watched her stumbling to the bed. “Hey- you okay?” she stopped infront of her, careful now not to get too close. “I’m sorry, I – I should have thought about that, it – was not a good idea, especially after your powers and -- and “ she shook her head and blushed wildly. “Are you okay?” she tilted her head.
Once Skylar confirmed she was okay “hang on..” she spoke and then rushed into the bathroom. She changed swiftly and came back out to the bedroom. “just… deep breaths. Keep in control.. I’m sorry, that was silly. Magic reacts very well to emotions and I just… I – I’m sorry” she whispered and then sat down on the edge of the bed. “I’ve never uh” she rubbed her neck. “you know.. never mind” she chuckled. “I um…”
Eva stood up and stepped to the glass of water, she chugged it set the glass down. “We can go home tonight, or tomorrow. If you want to rest or something, I don’t know…” she crossed her arms and turned around, looking to Skylar.

Skylar looked up to Eva as she came to the rescue, she held her hand to her abdomen. Her cheeks were rosy red, she gave a slight nod as she focused on slowing her breathing down. She watched as Eva began to stutter and apologize as she mentioned that what just happened wasn’t a good idea with Skylar’s powers. “Eva…I’m okay, it’s okay, everything is fine.” Skylar spoke, her voice soft, it shook slightly. Skylar trembled as she watched Eva leave to get dressed, her body felt like it was ripping to shreds again. She grit her teeth. She reached and popped another one of the black pills into her mouth just as Eva came back into the room. Her breathing was still rapid, her heart still raced. Skylar bit her lip slightly as her mind zipped around. She allowed her eyes to slip shut as she listened to Eva speak. When Eva finally finished stumbling through her words Skylar looked to her, focusing. “Eva, it’s okay.” She slowly stood, her body was still incredibly weak. She stepped up to Eva and gently uncrossed her arms. Skylar held Eva’s hands and stared into her eyes. “Whatever that was.” She began, a soft smile on her lips. “It was incredible.” Her eyes were still filled with fire. She released Eva’s hands then and slipped back to the bed where she collapsed onto it. “We need to go back.” She whispered, “Ayla will kill me if I miss this ball.” She let out a laugh, she then winced and held her side where she had smacked into the desk. She shut her eyes a moment, the world was closing in on her, her vision tunneled. Skylar took in a breath, “How long…does this sort of thing last?” She asked softly, her voice shook. She collapsed back on the bed and opened her eyes, her vision was gone, she was near passing out. “I can’t see…” She gasped, “Eva…” She winced as her body flooded with pain, the pill wasn’t helping. She let out a soft cry, her body was on fire. Her temperature began to spike again.
A flash of light burst into the room. A white knight dropped Remi to the ground in a heap. Remi held his abdomen, his nose was bloodied. He grit his teeth. The knight stepped forward, the armor clanked against the ground. A huge long sword that had ember glowing pieces was at the knight’s side. The knight reached up and removed the helmet as it came to Skylar’s side. A woman with pure white hair stood before Eva and Skylar. She looked to Eva for a long moment, her eyes glowed a gentle blue. “Eva Brewster.” She smirked, “I thought that I wouldn’t ever get to meet the Outsider’s replacement before the switch.” She chuckled, “Though, it’ll be quite some time, huh?” She then looked to Skylar, her nose was bleeding, her body shaking. She reached forward and placed her hand on Skylar’s forehead, a gentle blue began to glow. “Remi.” She looked up to him, her expression full of anger. “What have you done to this mortal?” She snapped. “What has happened here is this Julian’s doing?” The knight had beautiful white wings against her back. She growled slightly before she returned her attention to Skylar. “Well, what is done, is done, then.” She shut her eyes and the blue light that came from her hand became brighter. Skylar let out a whimper, the time in the world slowed to a halt. Skylar reached her hand up to the woman’s wrist and pulled at it. “No.” The woman spoke softly. A burst of energy came from the two then. The knight flew back and slammed against the wall. She grit her teeth as she stood, she looked to Eva.
Remi came forward then, he leaned against his scythe. “Lucille….” He spoke softly. “Julian promised this would help her.”
The knight let out a laugh. “Does it look like it has helped? You nearly killed your only replacement.” She snapped before she stepped forward and sat next to Skylar again whom was now unconscious. She took in a deep breath, “She’ll have to continue to take that wretched medicine Julian concocted.” She placed her hand on her forehead and took in a deep breath as the blue glow came to her palm again. “She’s frighteningly strong, Remi.” She whispered, “This amount of power….it’s….” She shook her head. She then stood and moved to Eva. She stared to her for a long moment. “Eva, you need to keep her calm.” She gave a gentle smile. “This change, these powers, she needs to be calm while this is happening, her body is ripping itself to shreds, the pain she is in each time she taps into her powers, you couldn’t even imagine.” Lucille stopped speaking a moment she moved and grabbed Remi, “Get lost, Remi!” She snapped as she threw him, a blast of white light illuminated and he was gone.
Lucille looked back to Eva and gave a smile. “I’m Lucille, I’m a balance, to Remi.” She grinned. She turned and looked to Skylar whom was still unconscious, blood trickled from her nose. She crossed her arms a moment before she handed Eva a rag. “Take her home.” She spoke, “If you need me, just call.” She grinned, “But uh…keep her calm, Outsider.” She winked before she stepped off, disappearing into a white light.
Skylar’s eyes shot open moments later, she gasped and sat up quickly. She looked around the room quickly, her eyes moved to Eva. “Wh…” She looked around again and stood shakily. “What happened? Who…I…” She furrowed her brows. “Was that a dream?” She bit her lip, “Was that all a dream?” She was referring to the shower at that point. Skylar took a step back as blood dripped to the floor from her nose. She reached and popped another pill. Though, the pain wasn’t nearly as strong. Lucille had done something to her, it was hard to tell what. Skylar looked up to Eva with worried eyes, “We should go.” She spoke softly and took Eva’s hand. “Take us home, Eva.” She leaned forward and kissed Eva then for a long moment, her free hand placed on Eva’s cheek. She then pulled back and gave a smile, her eyes were no longer on fire. The beautiful mix of blue and emerald hard returned. Lucille had helped her, she gave her strength to make it through this change, to accept the powers as they came. She didn’t seem so out of control, Skylar seemed calm and collected.

Eva smiled and nodded “We will go back then” she tilted her head and then watched closely. “I’m not sure.. the experience is different for everyone. They say the more it hurts.. the more powerful you truly are… for me it was about a day… it was… awful” she whispered and then she reached for Skylar as she cried out. Just when she wrapped her arms around Skylar’s shoulder – the burst of light filled the room. Eva’s head snapped to the side – looking to the sudden disturbance…
Eva leaned back, her eyes watching the knight closely. “Who are you?” Eva questioned, a bit of protective attitude slipped from her mouth. She looked to Remi, who stood – his tail between his legs – next to the knight. Eva stood and then bit her bottom lip - she went to speak, but Lucille tossed Remi away. She hid her gaze away as Lucille spoke about keeping Skylar calm… she wanted to defend herself, but there was no point.
She tilted her head as Lucille introduced herself… a balance to Remi? Then some sort of angel… bringer of life? “Just call? How – “ she was gone. “What the..” she shook her head and quickly turned around to Skylar who called out to her.
“A dream? No..” she shook her head and then looked to the bottle that she nabbed a pill from. “Whats that?” she questioned, picking up the bottle. It was not labeled… she opened the top and peered inside.. several black pills rest in a heap. “Did Remi give this to you?” she questioned, gritting her teeth. Who the hell makes black pills? “This must be what he was saying.. Julian made these?” she screwed the cap back on and set the pills back down. The white knight said she had to continue.. were these causing her all of this pain though? It shouldn’t really last this long….
Eva brought the damp rag back up to Skylar’s nose and dabbed up the blood. “I do hope this ends soon” she whispered and then kissed her sweetly. “Lets go home then” she brushed her cheek up against Skylar’s and nodded. Her arms wrapped around her slender body and she took in a deep breath – releasing it slowly. Eva’s body glowed a bright blue as she focused, honing in her magic. “Take a deep breath… hold it” she whispered. After a moment – they teleported with blinding speed. As the appeared in Skylar’s living room…
Eva released Skylar and then let out her deep breath. She paced slightly as she regained herself. She hadn’t done such distance in a while, and it was a difficult feat. “So – “ she sighed “how long until the ball?” she questioned and then stood up, keeping her eye on Skylar. She assumed that any moment she could become unstable… faint or something of that such… it worried her..

Skylar looked to Eva as she grabbed the small bottle from her hands. “Oh…yeah Remi…” She gave a nod, “My body can’t really take on the magic…so he asked for help from the god of strength.” Skylar shut her eyes and took in a small breath as Eva rinsed away the blood from her face. She kissed Eva back and smiled, her heart fluttered within her chest. She reached over and placed the pills back into her pocket. Skylar bit her lip as Eva wrapped her arms around her. She shut her eyes tightly and did as she was told. She took in a slow deep breath. She winced as she felt the world crushing in on her, she let out a cry as they landed in her living room. Her pulse raced, her breaths were quick, her eyes wide. She wasn’t sure she could ever get used to that feeling. She leaned against the breakfast bar and slipped into one of the stools. She held a rag to her nose as she brushed away a trickle of blood. She shut her eyes and focused on calming herself. “The ball.” She whispered softly. She was dizzy. She took in a slow deep breath, “The ball is…” She looked to the clock on the wall that clicked along happily each second that passed. “It’s at 7…” She looked to Eva. “It’s in six hours.” She slowly stood, her vision was fuzzy. Skylar gave a gentle smile, “Would you be my date?” She smiled playfully as she leaned against Eva, her hands held onto Eva’s shoulders, keeping her balance. She leaned her forehead against Eva’s and took in a quick breath. “I’m going to go lay down…okay?” She gave a gentle kiss. “Maybe rest will help the pain…and…how dizzy I am…” She made it as far as the couch and collapsed onto it. Skylar pulled the blanket from the back of the couch and curled up, within seconds she was unconscious.
Skylar didn’t dream this time while she slept, she looked entirely peaceful. A few hours passed before her eyes fluttered open. She winced slightly and reached into her pocket, she tossed another pill into her mouth and sat up slowly. Her body shuddered. She sat for a long moment before she stood and slowly found her way up the stairs. She slipped into her room and then into her closet where she thumbed through a few outfits. Her phone began to ring. Skylar reached into her pocket. “Ayla.” She spoke softly, she winced.
“Hey, are you coming? It’s almost 6. Ren is going to be pissed if you don’t come, Sky. This is her big night, your father is going to give her the metal of heroes.” Ayla spoke, “Are you okay?”
“Y-yeah, I’m coming, don’t worry, Ayla. I wouldn’t mess this up I promise.” Skylar gave a slight chuckle. “Eva and I will be there.”
“Ooo you’re bringing Eva huh?” Ayla’s voice filled with curiosity. “Okay, I gotta go, I’ll see you there, Sky.” Click
Skylar took in a breath, “Okay…” She whispered to herself. “Come on.” She blinked a few times as she looked through the clothing. She pulled a lovely dress from its hanger and slipped into it. Skylar stepped into her bathroom as she slipped into her heels. She adjusted the corset on the dress. It was a beautiful white dress with black accents along the corset and black lacing. Skylar pulled on her long black gloves that reached up to her elbows before she fixed up her makeup and hair. Skylar came down the stairs slowly, she held onto the railing. Her phone began to ring again as she came to the bottom of the stairs. Skylar answered it and held it up to her ear. “Mother?” She asked softly. She fell silent. “Yes. Yes, I’m on my way, don’t worry. I won’t be late, I have plenty of time.” She hung up the phone. “Eva.” She gave a smile, she stepped forward and kissed her cheek. “We need to go, we’ll be late.” She smiled. “It’s just downtown.” She took Eva’s hand and headed toward the door. “You look beautiful, Eva.” She stepped to the car. Skylar climbed inside and within a few seconds they were off and headed down the road. She winced slightly, her body was still in a great deal of pain, she had to constantly keep focus to keep control. “This…um…this ball..” She began to speak, “It’s a really big deal, my father is going to present Ren with an award, for her heroics. It’s really important. All of the big wigs will be here from around the city, to thank Ren for everything that she has done on the force.” Skylar pulled into a parking space. She gave a gentle smile and placed her hand on Eva’s thigh. “This will be a lot of fun. I imagine it will be a lot like the masquerade.” She winked.
People were already headed into the building, everyone was dressed beautifully. Men wore full tuxedos, women in gorgeous ball gowns. Skylar’s heels clicked as she headed toward the venue. She stumbled slightly and took in a few quick breaths. Skylar shut her eyes a moment and let out a breath slowly before she continued on.
“Skylar.” Mavis spoke, he was dressed just as nicely as everyone else. He looked to Eva for a moment and gave a nod. “Eva.” He smiled, “It is good to see you both.” He then kissed Skylar on her forehead, “I want you to assist in presenting the award to Ren, since she’s your friend.” He smiled, “It won’t be for a few hours, please think of what you would like to say.” He turned his head as someone called his name. “I have to go, Sky.” He smiled to her, “You look stunning.” He gave a nod before he walked off, he took Amara’s arm into his as they walked up the stairs to the second story.
Skylar looked to Eva and have a smile, “This is it.” She grinned. Skylar took Eva’s hand and led her into the ballroom where music played. “I hope you can dance, Eva.” She pulled her into the crowd. “If not, just follow my lead.” She kissed Eva then gently for a moment before the next song began. Skylar began to dance, she led Eva’s hands, pulling her in close. She smiled, her heart raced, Skylar let out a giggle as she dipped Eva down and pulled her back in close again.

Eva looked to Skylar and grinned – “Yes, of course I’ll be your date” she kissed her back and then nodded. “Okay” she nodded and then made her way to the fireplace. She placed a few logs into the place and then lit it on fire. The wood was very dry and it caught flame quickly – that sort of wood was pretty rare in her world…
She then made her way to the reading chair and sat down. She brought her legs up into the chair and leaned her head back for a long moment… her breathing slowed and she felt her powers flow through her. It was like a river – swiftly moving around the bends of her body, rushing around with flow and ease. She let out her breath – from her lips a blue essence flowed. It swirled about the room until finally it began to spread – the entire world became a blue hue. She sat up and watched as it took over … the room around her began to change… she sat in a chair that seem to move about the world – flying through the city, just above the cars driving an flying by. Some how the world she was flying through changed – she was over a green pasture, the flowers and grass weaving around and shuttering as her chair flew by it.
Suddenly it stopped – the chair sat over a huge encompassing waterfall that rushed down to a field of brightly floored flowers. Suddenly the chair disappeared and Eva fell through the sky.. she felt the air rushing around her, her hair fluttering with the swift wind. Her body stopped feet from the neon field. As she stood – the entire field began to fill with blue bodies, souls. As she moved forward the people made a path for her – until she stopped. Before her was a hundred souls… a hundred versions of herself. She stopped – her mouth agape. Some were small, even an infant, others old and wrinkly.. others middle aged. These were all of her beings in other dimensions… dead versions of herself. One stepped forward.. she was maybe 30 years old or so. She held her head up and then smiled weakly. “You are the bridge… Skylar is the key. Whatever your world she will always be. It is your destiny to be her guide, her protector” she spoke wisely.
Eva gasped as she snapped from this vision. She stood quickly and then stood stone still – taking everything into her mind. She turned and looked to Skylar for a long moment. Everyone in these worlds always had the same sort of role… sort of destiny. Skylar must have been destined for the greatest, and it was Eva’s job to deliver her. That’s what she gathered…
Just then Skylar woke and she snapped her head away, she had been staring for quite a long time while lost in her head. “Feeling okay?” she whispered and then tilted her head as he phone rang. She blushed when she overheard Ayla cooing at her. Eva then made her way to her bedroom to pick out a dress. Eva didn’t have many options, but there was a formal dress in the mix. She slipped into it and stood infront of the mirror for a moment.
It was a strapless dress with smooth tight lines to the waist, then it flared out into a tapered wavy frill. The front half came mid thigh and tapered out just at her calves. She twirled in it and it spun out slightly, the underskirt was tight against her thighs - protecting her. She chuckled and then slipped on a pair of flats. She then pulled her hair into a messy bun, small strands scattered. Eva then stepped from the bedroom and into the living room. She twirled in front of Skylar and then grinned.
“I’ve never wore something like this before” she whispered and chuckled. “Is it too much?” she questioned, as she pulled on her coat – following behind Skylar.
Eva looked to Skylar as they sat in the parking garage, her thigh tingled from Skylar’s warm hand. “Hah.. hopefully better.. considering we’re not here to kill some baddies” she grinned and then stepped from Rocket. As Mavis came – she felt a warm fuzzy feeling… it was nice to see Mavis. She and Mavis had grown quite close in the previous life.. it was sad to see him so distance in this world. She curtsied slightly and smiled to the Duke as he greeted her.
Eva watched him walk away with Amara – who had peered over, smiling to see that Eva was wearing her dress she picked. Eva looked to Skylar and then chuckled “Better than you think” she replied. She could dance. Of course she could dance. She was from district two.. you could not survive there if you couldn’t dance.
Eva grasped her hands and stepped in close. Her feet moved with ease, following Skylar’s lead. She dipped down and then snapped back up to be caught by Skylar. She twirled as Skylar led her, their feet turning them and moving about with the music. Several people had slowed their dancing – watching them out of the corner of their eye as they seem to link perfectly. With each step she wished that Skylar would make a certain move – and then some how she did. Like Skylar was in her head. She blushed deeply as the music brought her close – their hips touching occasionally. She could feel the burn throughout her entire body. She giggled as Skylar twirled her out, and then she came back – her back against Skylar now as they moved. She blushed wildly as she could feel her hands upon her hips, pulling her close as she moved. In her world this was very naughty dancing, but she loved it very much. Everyone was dancing like this. It was interesting.
Once the song was over – Eva stepped back a moment and then took in a deep breath. “I need water” she muttered and then walked through the crowd, getting to the tables on the side, where drinks sat. She guzzled a cup of water and then took a deep breath. Her cheeks were super rosy, as if she had drank a whole bottle of wine….

Skylar grinned as she danced with Eva, the chemistry. She’d never felt such fluidity during a dance. Skylar had been dancing since she was a child, going to balls with her mother and father. Being the daughter of the Duke put her on that level, she was expected to be excellent at many things. Skylar could feel the eyes of the crowd on her and Eva, this only caused her to blush and giggle. Then, it was over. Eva spoke that she needed water and left through the crowd of people. Skylar followed her with her eyes and was about to follow her when her shoulder was tapped. She turned her head to see her father’s Royal Advisor Reggie, with Booker in tow. “Fantastic dance.” He smiled and held up a glass of champagne. “I was afraid you would be rusty, it’s been awhile Miss Greystoke.” He chuckled.
Booker smiled, peering over Reggie’s shoulder. “Hey Sky.” He spoke, “You look stunning this evening.”
Reggie looked to Booker, with an impatient glare. “It’s good to see you, Reggie, thank you Booker.” Skylar smiled she gave a hug and kiss on the cheek to both of them. “I’ve gotta run.” She took the glass of Champagne that Reggie still held out for her. His expression dumbfounded. Booker could be heard chuckling as Skylar pushed off into the crowd. Skylar placed the glass on a waiter’s tray as he passed. She snaked through the people.
“Ah Miss Greystoke.” A woman spoke, Skylar didn’t recognize her.
“Hello, it’s a pleasure, do I know you?” Skylar gave a nod and offered her hand to the woman.
The woman watched her a moment and then shook her hand, a smile split her lips. “Not fully, no.” She looked over to Eva at the drink station and then back to Skylar. “I’m Lucille.” She smiled, “I saved you.” Skylar furrowed her brows, she stared at the woman, her hand still held in a handshake with Lucille. She looked over the woman’s features. Her long white blonde hair. “I’m just keeping an eye on you, making sure you’re alright.” She winked and released Skylar’s hand. “Don’t forget to take your medicine, hm?” She drank down the last bit of her glass of red wine. “Oh, this stuff is good.” She hummed happily. “Go on then. I’m here, not to worry.” She then walked off into the crowd.
Skylar stood for a moment, motionless before she made her way over to Eva. She smiled and kissed Eva on the cheek, she could feel eyes on her. “That dance was excellent.” She spoke with a smile, “You’re rather good at dancing, Eva. The best partner I’ve ever had, and believe me, I’ve had to dance a lot.” She lifted a glass of champagne. From the table and sipped from it, the bubbled bounced around in the clear crystal glass.
“Sky!” Ayla came through the crowd, she was certainly dressed for the occasion. She wore a beautiful dark blue dress that had gorgeous white stitching in the torso piece. It was a strapless dress. She hugged Skylar and also gave an embrace to Eva. “Eva, it is so good to see you.” She looked back to Skylar whom was blushing. Ayla chuckled, “You two.” She sighed happily, “I saw that dance.” She winked at Eva and then looked back to Skylar. “I’m happy for you, Sky.” She smiled happily and then looked to Eva just as Skylar was pulled away by her father. “Don’t break her heart, love.” She gained a serious tone, “I’ll find you, magic or no magic. You don’t want an angry Ayla after you.” She winked and then hugged Eva from the side.
“Eva.” Amara smiled as she came up to the two, “Hello Ayla, it is excellent to see you, I am thrilled to be here for Ren.” She then looked back to Eva, “How are you this evening, Eva?” She smiled as she grabbed a glass of wine and sipped from it.

Skylar walked through the crowd with her father, following him closely. Mavis led her into a hallway that was guarded by security. The hallway was completely empty. “Having fun this evening?” He asked.
“Of course, father.” Skylar spoke as she caught up to his side. He turned into a room. A beautiful trophy sat in the middle of a mahogany table. It had a police officer that had his hand on his gun, his other was lifted and holding the key on his mic, calling for help. Next to the bronze statue was a crystal clear plaque that had Ren’s name etched into it. The seal of the city was on the top of the plaque and beneath it in beautiful etching it stated, ‘Presented to Ren Sarálonde, for her courageous acts, dedication and exemplary tactics in every action.’ Next to the award was a medal. It had a beautiful blue ribbon that led up to the silver metal that had the shape of angel wings on the outside and the crest of the city in the middle.
Mavis gave a smile as he looked to the objects on the table. “I will present Ren with a saber.” He spoke, “I have a speech planned but before I present the saber I would like you to present the medal to her as well as this plaque.” He watched Skylar, “I’m sure there is much you can say about Ren.” He placed his hand on her shoulder. “You make me proud, Sky.” He pulled her into a hug then. “I’m sorry I haven’t been around for you very much.” He spoke. Skylar was completely silent, her father had never opened up this much to her in the past. He pulled back and stared into her eyes, he sighed heavily after a moment when she didn’t speak, Skylar was frozen, she never expected this from him. “I don’t even know your favorite color, or music…anything…” He shook his head. “It really got to me the other night, when your mother and I were talking about you. I’ve shoved you aside for so long, I’m sorry.”
Skylar took in a slow breath, tears welled in her eyes. “It’s okay, father.” She whispered softly and hugged herself to him. “You…you’re so busy…”
Mavis hugged her back, “That’s no excuse really, I should have made time for you, Sky.” He spoke softly. “I will now, I promise.” He hugged her a bit more tightly. “I have to go, now.” He gave a nod, “Just when I begin speaking, head toward the podium, okay?” He then left.
Skylar stood silently for a long moment before she headed back out onto the dance floor. She spun around, looking for Eva. Her eyes searched through the crowd, her brows furrowed. She couldn’t spot her in all of these people. Several people had to shake her hand and say hello. Skylar gave pleasantries and then would continue on, trying to find Eva.
