Music played throughout the city of Aeredale. It was a joyous occasion. The kingdom of Endor was celebrating the festival of the hunt. Those brave enough would come from all the kingdoms around the continent to hunt great beasts, including dragons. The hunter to bring in the most points at the end of the match would earn a huge sum of money, and earn dinner with King Merek Wykeham, Queen Mirabelle and their daughter Princess Adelina.
Feasts were served each night to celebrate the kills of the day and to replenish the strength to hunters that had made it through the day with little to no injuries. The feast was also to celebrate hunters lost in the battle against the beasts. It was the evening before the fourth and final day of the hunt. On the fourth day the king would release his dragon, Thorodan. No one had ever beaten him, though he served as a unique challenge to the hunters. Wounds would heal. Thorodan never killed his opponents, he was the protector to the royal family and the hunters were under explicit rules not to harm Thorodan to the point that he may die. He was worth capture points. That was all.
Within the grande hall of the castle those of all walks danced and feasted. Upon the high rise a woman stood she had gorgeous brown hair that flowed down over her shoulders. Her eyes were a striking hazel color and depending upon her mood her eyes could appear a grayish blue or even a green color. She had a beautiful jewel piece clipped into her hair, it was a red ruby surrounded by gold that laced around it to hold it into place. It matched well with her beautiful dress. It was shoulder less with white ribbon upon the top. The corset to the dress was a lovely red color with golden ribbon laced upon the front. She had transparent white sleeves that started halfway down her biceps and flowed to her wrists which held golden clasps. A red and black sleeve flowed down the back side of her arm. Her dress flowed downward with golden ribbon. The white skirt beneath it was hiked up in the front to show her thigh high boots that were laced up the sides.
She sighed softly as she sipped upon a glass of red wine, she held the glass along the curve, her fingers curling upward as the stem reached down toward the floor. Her eyes moved through the crowd as she watched everyone dancing about and carrying on. “You don’t like the festival?” A man whom stood at her side questioned. “Of all people I would think you would.” He leaned upon the balcony railing next to her, his own glass of wine in his hand. He had short well kept sandy hair that was brushed upward. He wore his armor from the hunt, dragon knight armor. It was well crafted silver that had distinct curves upon the chest piece that came to a point below his sternum. Beneath the chest piece was a scale like armor and on top of that a green jacket. He had a thick belt around his hip and black padded pants.
The woman looked to him, a smirk upon her lips. “Oh the hunt I enjoy....” She looked back to the crowd and took a swig of the wine. “It is the mingling that I do not.” She giggled and glanced to him again.
He chuckled as he straightened slightly, “Ah well, shall we enjoy a dance then? Ease you into it, princess?” He smirked as he watched her.
She chuckled and rolled her eyes to him. “Hm, well Prince Rainier...” She looked back to the crowd as another song began. She finished off her glass of wine. “Of all people that could ask me to a dance, I suppose you would be the least irritating.” She winked to him as she set her glass upon a waiter’s tray as he passed by.
The knight chuckled, “You know you can call me Will, right Adelina?” He smiled and finished his own glass before he set it upon a tray and offered her his hand. “At least, by now I would hope you could call me by my first name.” He chuckled.
Adelina took in a breath as she watched him a moment. “Don’t think for a moment that I like you, Rainier.” She grinned as she took his hand.
“Hm, but your father does.” He stared into her eyes a long moment before he led her down the stairs and to the dance floor.
Adelina let out a long sigh and rolled her eyes slightly to his comment. Though, she didn’t argue because he was right. If King Merek liked the prince, he would soon be her husband, he would soon be her king. She took in a quick breath as his arm wrapped around her waist and he pulled her in close. Adelina chuckled slightly as she looked up to him with rose colored cheeks. “If my father likes you so much why hasn’t he offered me to you?” She questioned almost mockingly.
Will grinned and he let out a laugh as he spun her around. “Oh, he will.” He glanced to the balcony, the King was watching them closely a smile upon his lips. “Believe me, he will.” He twirled her about. “Besides, when I win the hunt, he’ll have no choice.” He chuckled.
“Oh? What makes you so sure you’re going to win?” Adelina scoffed slightly. “Your lead can be lost in a matter of minutes, don’t be foolish, Rainier.” She eyed him as he pulled her close again. Her dancing was rhythmic and well practiced, she matched his every move. Then again, she’d been doing this since she was a child. As soon as she could walk the queen had her learning to dance. The art of being a royal is, it was all just a game, just a show.
“I won’t lose princess.” He grinned as he watched her. “You’re not going to get rid of me that easily.” He spoke just as she was passed off to another man.
Adelina looked to the man before her, he had a beard upon his face, he wore old tattered clothing. He spun her and pulled her in close. She offered a smile, as she was required and so began a night of dancing. She was passed from partner to partner until her feet began to ache. The king and queen announced that they were retiring for the evening but the dancing continued and the princess was expected to stay. As the crowd began to thin out Adeline quickly grabbed a glass of wine and she downed it before she stepped out onto the balcony for fresh air. She wobbled slightly from the amount of alcohol she’d consumed. Secretly she hated being the princess, she’d wished since she was a child that she could run away, that she could get away from this life.
“What’s a beauty like you doing out here all alone?” A man with dark brown hair walked up. He had on a long black jacket with huge cuffs. He had belts about his waist that held a sword and a pistol. He held a glass forward. “A drink for you my lady.” He bowed to her.
Adelina looked to him, her eyes looked over his clothing. Pirate. He knew he had to be a pirate. The hunt drew in people from all walks. Mages. Pirates. Assassins. You name it, they were there. She took in a breath and took the wine form him. “Just getting a breath of fresh air.” She replied. She looked to the glass of white wine and lifted it to her lips.
“It’s as sweet as you.” He grinned as he leaned his back against the balcony.
Adelina eyed him a moment before she took a few drinks from the glass. She raised her brows slightly. “I’ve not had this before...” She drew her brows together. “I’ve had plenty of glasses tonight.” She looked back to the glass.
The pirate grinned as he watched her closely. “Hm, it isn’t something that was being served inside, love.” He watched her. “But don’t worry, we have more on the ship.”
Adelina watched him, her body was beginning to feel heavy. “Ship?” She questioned, her face felt like it was going numb. The glass slipped from her fingertips then.
The pirate shifted forward and his arm wrapped around her waist, his other caught the glass swiftly. “Yes. That’s where you’ll be coming.” He chuckled. “It’ll be fun, love, don’t worry.”
Adeline pushed against him, her breathing was quick. Her entire body tingled. “No...” She breathed. “Rainier....” She tried to call out, but her voice was small, it couldn’t be heard above the music playing inside. “Will....” Her eyes fluttered.
“Hm, you won’t be needing any help, I assure you.” The pirate chuckled as he lifted her up into his arms, cradling her as her body fell limp. He adjusted her so her head leaned against his shoulder. “Off we go then.” He grinned as he slipped down the staircase from the balcony. He rushed down the stairs as another chuckle escaped his lips. He rushed through the streets of Aeredale. He passed by knights and guards easily as he slipped through the shadows down to the docks where he approached a beautiful ship. The sails were tucked down for the evening. Laugher and yelling came from the boat. He rushed onto the ship and slipped down beneath the decks quickly. He rounded a corner and slammed into one of his shipmates. The three toppled to the ground. He rolled to his back catching Adelina in his arms. “Damnit Rod!” The pirate growled.
“What the hell are you doing rushing around?” The pirate stood up and brushed himself off.
The pirate stood to his feet with the princess in his arms. “Just bringing a friend aboard.” He chuckled.
Rod looked to Adelina in the pirate’s arms and his eyes widened. “Hutch please tell me that isn’t....”
“What?” Hutch questioned a chuckle escaped over his lips. “A damsel in distress?” He grinned. “She looked sad, so I brought her to the ship. So what. It isn’t like you haven’t done the same.” He went to brush passed Rod then.
“Woah no. No I have not done anything like this. Are you an idiot?!” Rod pushed Hutch back. “The princess?! Are you serious?”
“Hey what’s going on down there?!” Another called.
“Uh nothing!” Rod grabbed Hutch and pulled him into his room quickly. “What the hell are you thinking?!”
Hutch shifted and set Adelina down on his bed. His brows drawn together, he let out a hearty chuckle. “You’re screwing with me, eh Rod?” He grinned. “You’re just jealous I managed to grab a beautiful one.” He laughed then.
“Hutch...that’s Princess Adelina Wykeham.” Rod spoke, the ship began to shift. “Shit...” He muttered. “We are leaving port we gotta...”
“No.” Hutch grabbed Rod’s shoulder. “We have a princess hm?” He grinned. “How much do you think the king will pay for her?” He chuckled.
Rod ripped his arm back. “I’m telling the captain.”
“No you’re not.” Hutch blocked the door. “You’re going to pretend you didn’t see me with her. I’ll tell the captain in the morning when we are far from the port. Eh?” His eyes were serious.
“The captain is going to kill you, Hutch.” Rod spoke, he was trembling.
Hutch chuckled as he watched the other pirate. “If that is really the princess, we are rich.” He grinned.
“No....no no no...King Wykeham will kill us all.” Rod shook his head. “Besides...what the hell are you going to do with her until morning?”
Hutch looked to Adelina and shrugged. “It’ll be fine.” He chuckled. “She’s just a princess what’s she going to do?”
“You’re an idiot.” Rod growled as he pushed passed Hutch.
Hutch shrugged as he moved to his bed. He flopped down next to the princess and looked to her as she slept peacefully on her side. “He thinks I can’t handle you.” He scoffed and chuckled. “I already have.” He crossed his arms up behind his head and closed his eyes.
Several hours later Adelina began to wake. Her eyes fluttered open and she found herself staring at the pirate. Her eyes widened and she scurried back quickly from him.
**
Rod walked up the stairs on the quiet deck. He looked to the open ocean. “Um...captain...” He began. “I hate to do this to Hutch, but he’s done something you need to know about.” He paused a moment. All of the other crew members were sleeping below decks by this hour. “He kidnapped Princess Adelina.” Rod spoke, his voice worried. “I saw her...just now...he must have drugged her...”
**
Adelina took in quick breaths. Her eyes glanced to the door, her eyes then fell upon the dagger that sat upon the dresser. She quietly grabbed it and moved to the door. She slowly turned the handle as the ship rocked against waves. She winced as the hinges creaked slightly. She glanced to the pirate a long moment before she slipped from his room. She rushed quickly down the hallways. She ran into a dead end. Her breathing was nearly gasping by this point. She spun around and ran back down the hallway looking for the way out. She’d never been on a ship before. She spun around and around the hallways until she rounded a corner and something cuffed over her mouth. She fought against the person, slicing into their thigh.
“God damnit!” Hutch snapped as he wrapped an arm around her and he clenched more tightly around her mouth until she fell limp in his arms again. He growled slightly as he looked to his leg, blood ran down his pants to the floor. He lifted her and carried her down the hallway and back into his room where he locked the door and turned to walk above the decks.
“The captain is going to kill you.” Rod spoke as he came down the stairs.
Hutch’s eyes widened. “You didn’t...” He growled.
**
“Adelina never came back from the ball my king.” A knight spoke, his head bowed.
“What?!” Merek nearly leaped from his bed. “This can’t be!” The early morning rays were rising over the city. “Something horrible must have happened. Call off the hunt. Search everywhere. We must find my daughter! Where is Rainier?”
“Here, My king.” Will stepped into the room, his head bowed.
“Where is my daughter?” Mirabelle questioned softly as she stood in her night gown. “What has happened to her?”
Will shook his head. “My queen...we will find her...we will...we must...” He glanced to the king and nodded as the captain of the knights stepped from the room.
“You must find her, Rainier.” The king ordered.
**
Adelina sat up quickly, the room spun about as she glanced around the room for the pirate. She rushed to the door and pulled against it several times, shaking the handle. She paced as she glanced around the room. “Who are these people...” She wondered to herself as she looked through the trinkets upon Hutch’s dresser. She crossed her arms and sighed heavily as she sat down upon the bed. The swaying of the ship made her stomach queasy. She looked up as the lock to the door clicked, her brows drew together as she readied herself to fight for her life.

Her kind once ruled the seas, though now very little remained in the world. They were not accepted any where on land - being a total out cast, the halflings. They took on the seas. Many are responsible for graphing the maps known today, for established the great globe as it is. They belong no where, yet they owned everything. For hundreds of years - explorers were one of the most respected, though over time their name had been warped into Pirates. People treated them like scum, and over time - the explorers slowly adapted this stereotype.
Rather than finding new lands - they were left to finding treasures, hidden by long lost explorers. Coves, islands, ruins - all a secretive spot for wonderful treasures, and the hunt was the drive of the game. There were those who would hunt the traversing ships - killing, plundering and stealing, and then there was the very few who still lived by the Explorer’s mantra.
Odessa was one of the last ships of her ancient times, large and swift - with a cargo hold to smuggle and snuggle many great goods. This was the ship that she had fought for - but with its Captain title came a great burden. Odessa was a cursed ship - every bit of it was enchanted by magic. What made it cursed was that no one aboard the ship could die. There was a unique process of becoming a true crew member, and many sought to be apart of Odessa, though it was very rare that the Captain ever take on new crew. There was no need, and most did it for all the wrong reasons.
Being unable to die is sought by many, but in the end - it was never a curse worth having. The world would crumble away yet you would remain, life seemed meaningless, and fear meant nothing. With no fear - there was no pleasure, either. Everything there was to lose was already gone. Many dreamed on the day of being released of their biggest regret - which was accepting this curse.
They could do anything - they could jump off the side of a cliff, be swallowed whole by a shark. Some how, some way - they would always wake on the ship whole. Bound to the ship, to be its tender. The most interesting part was Odessa was a living spirit on her own, she had needs. If they did not meet those needs - they would all suffer terrible dreams, awful pain, and she would rip away all things pleasurable. Rum would become water, and food would be mush. She was like a needy wife who was rarely satisfied...
What did Odessa want? Gold. She wanted gold terribly. She wanted to feel it in her stomach and fill her whole. And it had to be old - sweet old untainted gold, and it had to be fresh. The same pile from a month ago would grow stale to her, and as would their pleasures of life. She would leech it away, until finally the Pirates would succumb, and fill her demand.
The world knows of Odessa, the cursed pirate ship - the ship that could never sink. If one saw it passing in the distance - the watchers would oo and ahh, seeing the ship was almost a once in a life time experience. It was like a giant whale - watch it breach from a far far distance, because nothing would stop it from pummeling right into you.
The ship and it’s crew rarely fought others, but if someone were brave enough to get in their way, to try and rob them, the destruction upon them was ruthless. For every ship that tried - would become an example for all others to see, Odessa was to be feared. It was a tactic the captain chose on purpose - she would scare many from trying, which meant less had to die...
***
The captain stood over a huge round table in the deck room. It had a huge map that covered it’s entirety. There were several hand drawn islands on the map - that she added on her own. The parchment was old, and even worn in a few spots. She leaned over it - an elbow in the Great Northern Sea.
She hummed to herself and traced her finger on the map, planning out a route. Her other hand did a little dance in the air, fingers twirling slightly as she hummed. The door cracked open and someone peeked their head in.
“Rob - did you get me my...stuff?” She questioned, she knew exactly who was there. She placed a little toy boat on the map, holding her spot - and she stood upright, looking to him.
“Um, yes of course” Rod smiled and pulled a bar of chocolate from his bag and he handed to her.
“Good on ye” she peeled back the waxy paper and took a bite of it. She chewed for a long moment and then gave a long sigh. “Odessa is a needy twat, you know that” she set the chocolate down. It had been a whole month since Odessa’s rage grew strong, nothing tastes right, nothing felt right, soon they would become a numb lifeless body, and Sea-Rage would kick in. This had only happened once before, and Rey would do everything she could to keep it from happening again. The memories of the things she did... those are the most terrifying stories of Odessa, nearly 200 years ago.
“Yes... she really is... Some are...becoming frustrated” Rob cleared his throat. “So I must tell you... Hutch.. he.. out of frustration... he Kidnapped Princess Adelina”
The Captain looked up - her short red curly hair bouncing as her movement was strong. “You've got to be kidding me...” They had already left port - and were headed North. “We don’t have time to go back... god... damnit” she balled her fist up and pounded the table briefly.
“If we turn back - we have to deliver her back, and then we’d likely have to explain ourselves, there’s a lot of time we’d have to spend, and then we’d lose the Northern Winds - and it could take an entire fucking week to get to the Lost Cove... We’d..We’d..” she squeezed her fingers together tightly and began to pace the room.
Her clicking boots tapped on the wooden deck as she thought. “Bring me Hutch, and the Princess...” She shook her head. “I’m going to fucking kill him...”
“Yes... right away...” Rob nodded and rushed from the Deck Room.
“Damn you Odessa, damn you” Rey spoke as she looked to her candy bar. It tasted like water, no flavor - she couldn’t even feel the texture. She stepped over to the desk against the wall. A small map, etched down on a leather hide, sat there. She lifted it and stepped over to the large map and set it down. She then turned and looked to the wall - a map of the stars were laid out. The leather map before her was a combination of the alignment of the stars, it would only be exactly the same as the map on a certain day, of the year. She had calculated that the day the stars would align was to be in exactly 6 days. They were already running behind...
She had been holding onto this map for nearly 80 years... There had been a old tale, found in the books of Oracles, scribes, witches and ancient pirate scrolls to break the Odessa Curse. It was to rebuild the soul of Odessa’s love, who had been trapped away in 4 soul-stones. Those soul stones were worth a fortune, knowing that the crew of Odessa would want it - and in the late late history, many Pirates who had it - did everything could to hide it, for many reasons. For fear of losing it and its value, or to torture the crew for eternity, as their revenge...
She hadn’t even found one, but had been collecting information, everything was always a lead to the next, nothing conclusive... She had been hunting for them... for too long. She wouldn’t give in - her crew had, they completely forgot about the soul-stones, always assumed the adventure was for gold. Meanwhile... she never stopped, and never would.. not until she could rest.

Adelina watched as the door opened to the room. Hutch stepped in with Rod behind him. She quickly lifted one of the small treasure boxes from his desk and hurled it toward him. “Don’t touch me!” She snapped as the box slammed into his chest.
Hutch chuckled as he caught it. “You’re much more feisty than I thought you would have been.” He glanced to Rod.
“We need to bring her to the captain, that is the order.” Rod spoke his eyes moved to the princess.
“I’m not going anywhere! My father will kill all of you! This is absurd! Release me!” She threw another trinket box and another. She kept throwing items from the dresser until she’d run out of things to throw.
“Have you had your tantrum now, princess?” Hutch grinned as he looked to her.
Adelina jumped up onto the bed, her fists balled. “Don't come near me.” She warned.
“Or what?” Hutch smirked as he watched her. He stepped forward and reached for her.
Adelina moved quickly, her knee slammed into his chin knocking him harshly back against the dresser. She jumped from the bed and shoved Rod whom was caught off guard. No one expected a princess to fight back. Adelina rushed into the hallway and sprinted up a flight of stairs. She nearly fell as the ship shifted against the waves. Adelina burst through the doors to the main deck, her eyes were wide her chest heaved as she rushed forward. She stared to the open expanse of the ocean with a slack jaw.
Hutch came running up behind her, a chuckle escaped his lips as he watched her. “Go ahead, swim back to Aeredale.” He grinned.
Adelina spun around, her back against the railing of the ship. “Don’t touch me.” She spoke again her eyes staring to him. “You drugged me.” She snapped. “Filthy pirate.” She slipped to the side as he made to grab her. She shoved him and rushed off.
Rod came from the side and wrapped his arms around her. “Look, you’re going to want to calm down.” He spoke as he dragged her backward. Adelina kicked and thrashed in his arms as he held her arms pinned to her sides. “Hutch, come on.” He called to the other pirate.
“Unhand me you dirty filthy bastard!” Adelina cried as she tried to break his grip. “Let me go!”
“Sorry can’t do that.” Rod replied as he pushed into the captain’s observation deck. He brought her over to a chair and shoved her into it. “Sit.” He ordered as he did so. He then nodded to Hutch whom came rushing into the cabin. Hutch gave a weary smile to his captain before he quickly tied a rope around the princess holding her into the chair.
“Let me go!” Adelina cried as she rocked against the chair. “Let go!” She kicked against Rod. The chair toppled backward and her head slammed against the wooden floor. Her breaths shook as tears poured from her eyes.
“Ouch...you know you caused that right?” Hutch chuckled as he helped Rod stand back up. He then helped Rod lift the princess back up so that the chair was once again upright. Hutch then let out a long breath as he looked to Rey. “Captain...” He bit his lip slightly. “I um...didn’t realize this girl was the princess...I saw a beautiful girl and...” He scratched his head and looked down.
Adelina’s eyes fluttered slightly, her head was spinning from the impact with the floor. “Let...me...go...” She breathed, “I can’t...breathe...” She shifted against the ropes that were tied tightly around her torso to the chair. “My father....will....find me...just...let...me go...” She looked up then her eyes fell upon Rey. “Do you really want my father to send Thorodan after you?” She questioned, tears rolled down her cheeks. “What is it....that you want?” She cried softly. “Why did you take me?”

Rey turned as Rod opened the door "She is on the deck, Captain, Hutch as well.." he nodded and then closed the door. Rey sighed deeply and made her way to the door. She had a natural sway of her hips - round and curvy, with several belts hoisted upon them. She had an old fashioned double barrel pistol on her hip and a sword on the other. To a common eye - she would appear as a typical deck swabbing pirate, nothing like a pirate might.A simple tunic, a pair of leather pants and tall boots with a perfect fold atop it.
"Hutch" she called out.
"Captain" he stood straight then and cleared his throat.
Rey slowly stepped towards the Princess, she lifted a brow and shook her head. She drew a knife from her thigh an cut the rope and stepped back.
"There is no reason for your capture, other than Hutch being a complete and utter idiot, and now has cost us..me..more than he knows..." she sheathed her dagger. "Unfortunately I cannot turn this ship around... I have a time sensitive package to pick up, and without it well... let's just say I really... really need it. So.. I'm not turning this boat around. You have a few options..." she stepped back.
"Hutch can row you all the way back to shore, that would be long...annoying, sad, and dangerous... You can jump off the boat and swim, which you would die. Or you can just... come for the ride and I'll deliver you home when we are done..." she cleared her throat and looked to Hutch with a deadly eye.
"If I could kill him, lord knows I would have done it long ago.." she grinned then and shook her head. "I'd apologize for this inconvenience, Princess, but a Pirate never apologizes. So... At most I can promise to keep you safe. Though, you'll probably argue and fight with me, with your pretty little princess and the pea attitude, and I'll be forced to throw you in the brig and pretend you don't exist. Or... you can accept this reality and I'll let you have the Guest Quarters...Comfortable bed, warm food.." she shrugged. "Again, your choice... though i'm sure you're not used to actually having them" she scoffed and then shook her head.
"Rob, you are in charge of her. I have navigating to do...Make sure Hutch doesn't do anything stupid..." she turned then and walked back into the Deck Room, to resume her thought. She had to find the best path - one with the wind, and currents, to get them to the cove fastest, this took a lot of research - knowledge. What would the waters be doing? If she was wrong - by even a little, they could risk the rage...

Adelina stared to the captain as she stepped forward. She winced as the knife was pulled. This was the end. This was how her life would end, tied to a chair in the middle of the ocean. Then suddenly the ropes loosened around her. Adelina opened her eyes and stared up to the captain whom began to speak. She brushed the ropes from her body and she stood, she had a few cuts and scrapes from being thrown around, but nothing major. She stared to the knife as the captain sheathed it. Her eyes moved back to the woman.
The princess was silent as the captain spoke, her brows drawn together. She made to speak but the captain left the room quickly. “So what will it be, princess?” Hutch grinned.
Adelina crossed her arms as she looked to him. “She thinks she has a package that is more important than returning me to Aeredale?” She questioned. “Just who do you think you are?” She snapped. “You didn’t know who I am? What a lie that is! You took me in hopes for money, didn’t you?!” Her voice was full of a royal tone her eyes commanding.
“Oh, I didn’t take you for money, princess, quite the opposite.” Hutch chuckled. “But that won’t be happening. Sad.” He rolled his eyes and walked from the room.
“What?! What is that even supposed to mean?” Adelina glared to Rod. “This....this.....” She tightened her jaw, her eyes looked away. “You don’t even realize what has been done!” She snapped. “And to say a package is more important than returning me? What big headed egotistical pirate scum do you think you are huh? Who does she think she is?!” Adelina had her arms crossed tightly over her chest.
“Um....princess...” Rod raised his brows as he watched her. “Look, I saved you from a most unpleasant experience with Hutch, alright?” He gave a slight smile. “Why don’t you calm down a bit?”
“Calm down?” Adelina pipped up. “Calm down? How am I supposed to calm down? I am on a pirate ship in the middle of the ocean! Only the gods know where I am! My father is worried sick I can assure you my mother is as well....and the prince...” She placed her head in her hands for a moment before she let out a long breath. “You don’t understand. You can’t possibly understand what that swine has done by taking me!” She pointed to the door that Hutch had left through.
Rod sat down in a chair and sighed, his arms crossed. He chuckled, “Hm, I believe pretty princess and the pea is definitely a good description for you.” He tilted his head. “Don’t you think?”
Adelina drew her brows together. “Quit mocking me.” She snapped. “When we get to port I want off of the ship. I will find my own way home.”
“Um...princess that isn’t such a good...”
“That’s what I’ll be doing.” Adelina spoke, “I do not have time to wait for your captain to decide that she is taking me back to Aeredale. Whatever games that you pirates are playing, I am not a part of.” She shook her head.
“No...where we will take port will not be safe. I can’t allow you to do that, princess. I couldn’t imagine your death being our fault.” Rod watched her, his voice sincere.
Adelina paused then, she stared to him a long moment. “This really was an accident....” She spoke as she stared to him. She then let out a breath and held a hand to her head. “Well then...” She nodded slightly. “I see...” She crossed her arms again.
Rod watched her, the change in her tone, he raised a brow. “Princess, believe me. If I could have stopped him before he even took you from the castle I would have, but I didn’t know. I was on the ship. Hutch does stupid things, though this is the cherry on top of the cake.” He chuckled then. “Come on, I can show you your room, hm?” He stood and walked toward the door.
Adelina followed him, her arms crossed, she glanced to the open ocean and sighed softly. She only hoped her father didn’t release the dragon upon them. She didn’t want to see that destruction. She slipped beneath the deck with him and followed him into a room. It was small. But it was cozy. A nice sized bed with warm comforters. Adelina stepped forward. “I imagine I am to stay here?” She questioned as she looked to Rod.
Rod took in a breath, “It may be for your best interest.” He chuckled. “Most of the men on this ship haven’t seen a beautiful lady like you upon this ship in a long time.”
“The captain is....”
“Our captain.” Rod chuckled. “She doesn’t count.” He winked. “It’s different.” He let out a breath. “My room is right next door, if you need anything. Just call for me, hm?”
Adelina nodded and took in a breath. “Of course.” She spoke as she watched him leave the room. She took a long time before she moved to lay on the bed. She stared at the ceiling. The creaking of the ship, the swaying of it...her stomach felt like it was in her throat. She sat up and held her head, which was throbbing. She stepped from her room and knocked on Rod’s door. No answer. She drew her brows together and pushed the door open. Rod was passed out on his bed, a loud rumble of a snore escaped his mouth. “Hm...and he’s supposed to be keeping an eye on me...?” She questioned softly. She then held back the urge to throw up.
Adelina stumbled through the hallways beneath the main deck. She caught herself on the wall and then she fell forward into someone’s arms. “Woah, hold on, love.” Hutch spoke as he wrapped his arms around her. He chuckled as he steadied her. “Where are you off to in such a hurry hm? Where’s Rod?”
Adelina backed up from him, her back pressed against the wall. “The upper deck, I don’t feel too well.” She replied, her cheeks were pale.
Hutch chuckled, “I can help you with that, you know?” He moved closer to her and traced her cheek.
Adelina slapped him harshly, “Don’t touch me.” She ordered her royal tone cutting through. “Back off!” She pushed him back as he tried to move closer. “Stop.” She stared into his eyes.
“Or what? Rod’s going to help you?” He snickered, “He’s passed out right about now.” Adelina grit her teeth as she felt his hand upon her hip. She stared into his eyes, her breathing was quick. “See? I’m not such a bad guy.” He chuckled as he traced her cheek again. “I could get you more wine, hm? You liked the wine.”
Adelina brought her knee up then harshly between his legs, she shoved him back as he fell to the ground groaning in pain. “You will not touch me again.” She spoke with a frustrated tone as she stepped over him. She held her stomach as she climbed the stairs. Adelina gripped onto the railing of the ship just as she was unable to hold back any longer. She hurled over the edge of the ship, her hands gripped onto the railing tightly as her stomach contents were expelled. She staggered slightly as she let out a long breath. She glanced to the stairs Hutch was coming from below the decks. “He just doesn’t give up...” She sighed as she rushed up the stairs and into the observation room. She slammed the door shut and leaned against it, her eyes looked to the captain. “I would hate to be a bother but I’ve no choice in the matter.” She held her hand to her head slightly as she moved and collapsed into a chair. “My head is spinning...I would have spoken to my handler about this but he seems to be unconscious for unknown reasons and I have Hutch chasing me around the ship...” She took in a shaken breath. Her skin was pale and a cold sweat was beaded upon it. Her head was pounding as she lifted her hand to the welp that was on the back of her head from falling. “So my deepest apologies for interrupting you, Captain.” Adelina spoke with a shaken voice.

Rey sat down before the huge table - she scattered out a collection of books. She rolled up another table next to her and locked it in place - where she unrolled several scrolls and pinned them down. She flipped over the pages and etched out the perfect route. Then she began sifting through her collection of books to figure out more on this cove. It was a popular place to visit - but not many survived it. It was covered in traps, she was able to read some of them - documented, but there were surely others. She had killed many pirates to get her hands on the Scrolls of the Lost Cove, and even still she didn't have it all...
Rey sighed deeply and leaned back - how terribly she wanted a drink, to drown herself at this moment. The pressure was on thick - and now she had to worry about this princess. It was like the woman's ears were one fire - that she suddenly burst into the room. Rey lifted her gaze from her pile of papers and she saved her spot.
"Rob is asleep?" She let out a deep sigh. "Hutch is our local idiot, usually good for some laughs though recently he has been very desperate..." she stood then and approached the princess. "And if i had my choice - I'd toss his ass off this ship, he come with it though - I did not choose for him to join us" she chuckled "because I certainly wouldn't..." she sighed and walked over to a cabinet. She opened it and plucked out a few items. She made her way to a small gas stove and put hot water on, and prepped together a cup of warm tea.
"In my travels I see a lot of things, do a lot of things - my favorite part is the food" she grinned and poured the tea into a small cup. "This is by far my favorite tea that I've ever come across... and it is very simple. Blueberry and spice, it tastes like a pie" she chuckled and then dropped a leaf into it. "A touch of Azerul, should help you with the sea sickness..." she lifted the cup and then handed it to her.
"Do you even know what ship you are on?" she raised a brow. "It's not often I port at your home, I only did so because we are about to go on a very tough journey, I try to avoid your perky little city..." she chuckled "You are on Odessa, and it is not my command that rules you - but hers." she sipped her own mug of tea. Though... it was just water, not even warm to her. She leaned back and sighed deeply. "Tell me - what do you enjoy about being a Princess, hm?" she sat back down in her seat. Her fingers closed a book, and stacked it with another, meanwhile her hues stayed on the woman - studying her.

Adelina watched the captain, “Yes, he’s asleep and Hutch knew it.” She spoke, exasperated. The princess watched the captain as she stepped to a stove. “If you could throw him off...?” She questioned softly. “But you’re the captain...” She watched the woman closely. It was in that moment that Rey spoke the name of the ship. Adelina fell silent. She’d read about the Odessa. She sucked in a deep breath, “Ah...the cursed ship and its crew...” She replied and let out an uneasy laugh.
Adelina sipped her tea and leaned back, after a few good sips her stomach began to calm, her head began to soothe. It was like magic in a cup. She looked to the captain, surprised by her question. She let out a soft laugh. “Well, if we are being truthful?” She asked she swirled her mug slightly as she watched the leaf move around within the liquid. “Nothing.” She spoke after a long moment of silence. “So many say they would give anything to be me, but if they tried to be me for just an hour, I guarantee they would take that wish back.”
Adelina lifted her eyes to the captain. “I will be forced to marry a man that I do not love, that my mother tells me I will grow to love. He is a kind, noble and charming man, but I could never love him. I will be forced to have children with him Sand to rule over the kingdom. I will be forced to make difficult decisions and take from the people in order to keep our kingdom as strong and mighty as it is.” She took in a deep breath. “My hand will be forced to do many things that I would never in a million years do, and yet I will, because I am the princess. Because I must. Just as since I was a child I must dance. I must carry myself a certain way. I must. I must.” She didn’t look away from the captain. “So, an hour of my life would truthfully wear out even the most eager to be princess. For I don’t get a choice in anything, you were right when you said that. I’ve never had a choice in anything my entire life. Even down to the clothing that I wear, it is chosen by my mother and father. The way that I speak was chosen by them as well through lessons and books. I may have advantages to the common folk but I do not see it as an advantage at all. I was never allowed to play in the sand at the beach, or get even an ounce of dirt on my dress.”
Adelina chuckled then, “But what do you really care? Hm?” She finished off her tea. “Is it entertaining to hear the torture that a princess must endure? I’m sure it is.” She sighed softly and looked away then. “I’m sure it is.”
Adelina took in a deep breath then, “To be truthful I’ve always dreamed of being on a ship out at sea.” She chuckled, “But my dream never went quite like this.” She watched the captain then. “So, tell me. Is what I have read of the curse true? It must be, if you can’t even get rid of a crew member that has jeopardized your entire crew by bringing me aboard this vessel.” She stared to Rey a long moment. “What journey are you going on? What did you get from Aeredale that was so important? I know we house a lot of goods that other cities couldn’t fathom having. But what was it that you stopped for exactly? And during the time of the Festival of the Hunt? What a poor time to visit our city, in such a chaotic state.” Adelina closed her eyes for a moment. “How long will it be before I am returned?” She asked then, her voice soft as she questioned. “Will it be long?”
**
“My king we have searched the city, there is no sign of the princess.” The captain of the knights stood before the king in the throne room.
“Then look again.” Merek ordered his brows tucked together. “Question everyone. Do you understand? Find her!” He slammed his hand down on the arm of the throne.

Rey's eyes widened slightly and then she gave a gentle chuckle. Though her eyes didn't leave the Princess - she listened. When she finally finished - Rey sipped once more on her cup. "Anyone of any kind of power is subject to a pressure that others couldn't comprehend. Even I, aboard this fine ship - hold a pressure that my men know nothing of, and I intend on keeping it that way. In the end, I chose this - where as you did not..." she stood and swirled her cup and finished the tea.
"The stories are true, and we are cursed. I've been about the seas for far too long, and some of my men - even longer. Though there is much the stories... twist, but we have had our... moments." she sighed and then set her cup down on the counter. "Pirates have a nasty reputation. I don't consider myself, but rather an explorer, a stasher of shiney ancient things, a tomb scavanger and cove scrambler..." she grinned. "I couldn't tell you the last time we pillaged, killed and murdered... Odessa would not approve anyways, that is not her calling." she grinned then. "While my men are... often times typical greasy men, we are good people. With good hearts" she waved to her to follow.
"Aeredale had an enchanted barrel of ale" she glanced over. "So we purchased it" she laughed then "I wish I was lying... but my men crave the drop of ale, and lately we have been... on a shortage" she lead her up the flight of stairs and to the steering wheel - where one of her men had been holding on. He shifted and then moved away - allowing her to take reign.
"Your funny dragon fight is... an old and silly act, but everyone has them. Something quirky and somehow proves their men to be brave, strong, however." she shook her head "The chaos of your city is nothing, if that is chaos to you..." she grinned and then moved. "Hands here" she pointed to the wheel. "Here... and here, 10 o'clock and 3 o'clock" she stepped aside.
"Manning the ship is so different than just riding on it. Turn the wheel - feel how she sways, watch the booms move, and get her just right - in the cusp of the wind, the sails taught, and you can feel the movement. All under your control" she grinned, eyes watching - in case something happened.
"I'm afraid that... this journey may take up to 2 weeks. We will arrive to the Cove in 4 days, I imagine it will take us a day or two to extract, and then a 6 day ride back - since the tides will be against us, but..nothing I cannot handle..." she crossed her arms and watched her. "Go ahead - turn it sharply, feel that - you lost the wind, the sails flap.. quickly turn back so we catch it again..." she smiled then.
"I am sorry... you are stuck here, unfortunately. And surely your father and such will be worried, but at this point I can't risk losing this, it could be... very bad if I don't retrieve it. And it is too dangerous to just let you go...I wish I had a better answer for you..." she sighed deeply.

Adelina watched the captain. She nodded slightly. “Even in choosing it, the pressure can be overwhelming, even if you saw it coming.” She listened then as she followed her out of the cabin. “Tombs?” She questioned her expression curious. She then chuckled when Rey mentioned the enchanted barrel of ale. “You can’t drink regular ale?” She raised a brow. “Hutch seemed to not have a problem with bringing me a glass of wine from this ship.” She muttered then. She watched as the captain took hold of the wheel.
Her eyes widened slightly when she was told to take the wheel. She stepped forward and took ahold of the old wood. Her hands held on tightly, her knuckles turned white. She glanced to Rey as she spoke, “Um...” She looked back ahead looking to the sails. “Two weeks....” She breathed as she gripped onto the wheel. “Two...weeks...” She gave a nod. She then did as she was told, she spun the wheel. She nearly lost her footing as the huge vessel responded quickly to her command. She took in a quick breath as she gripped onto the wheel and spun it back as she was told. Her pulse was racing within her chest. “What is so dangerous about this thing that you must do?” Adelina questioned, “What is so dangerous? Rod told me where we will make port is dangerous...where are we going?” She questioned softly.
“Who is driving up there?” A yell from below.
Adelina bit her lip slightly as a wave washed onto the deck. She glanced to the voice to see Hutch making his way up the stairs a bottle of ale in his hands. He chuckled deeply. “You’re letting the princess drive the ship?” He looked to the captain. “Why?” He raised a brow.
Adelina turned the wheel slightly, her eyes watched the sails as they tightened to the wind. Rey was right, she could feel the wind through the wheel, she could feel everything through the wheel of the ship. Adelina took in a shaken breath. “Well if I have to be here I might as well pull my own weight.” She spoke as she glared to Hutch. “No thanks to you.” She snapped, her attitude skipping to the surface again.

Rey took in a breath and slowly let it go. "I couldn't let you come with us... you'd have to stay on the ship. We cannot die, but you can" she raised a brow. "We are going to the Lost Cove, I'm not sure if you've heard of it - but pretty much it is a legendary cove where Pirates would be..." she thought for a second "Safe?" she shook her head. "These times were way before my own. When halflings - half elves, half humans, ruled the seas. The cove... was their home." she thought for a moment. "but now it is trapped, and unsafe, I've read of ghosts and ghouls that kill unwanted visitors. All usually people in search of the treasures..." she lifted her gaze to the ocean.
She watched as the Princess steadied the ship. Her eyes glanced to Hutch who walked over. "Are you jealous?" she grinned. "She is pilot because Odessa likes a woman holding her wheel" she chuckled "Mind your own business - and oh - swab the portside, I saw a bit of grime earlier, can't have our lady all dirty, hm?" she crossed her arms and looked forward once more.
"You see the direction of the waves? They are south west, you are going in portside, you want to point the bow directly into them, when they are big like that. We are sitting in the Northern tide, and the winds are not quite with us. So we have to capture the wind." she stepped over to the side of the boat and unraveled a line, she then wrapped it around her arm and pulled with all her strength. The boom of the sail moved about 30 degrees, and then the sail suddenly caught. The ship began to take even more speed. She tied off the line and stepped over. "When we catch like that - the ship will lift slightly, you have to keep a strong arm on the wheel, or you'll loose the tension. Turn to the left about 4 clicks" she watched as the Princess did so. "Very good" she smiled. "I have a lock, that would normally hold it here, but the winds are a little shifty, but do you feel that? That tightness, the wheel wants to jerk away, that tension is perfect - if it gets more or less, then you need to find it again" she nodded. The boat had taken on a lot of speed, the wake behind them was large - the wind had picked up, tossing her hair back slightly.
"Odessa... the curse..." she took a breath. "Odessa is a spirit that resides in this ship, she was once an Elf - who was cursed herself. She has been around for... almost ever. She is a needy one and commands our spirits. She likes old gold, old relics, things from her time - and if she doesn't have it, then she takes her anger out on us. We lose feeling, and eventually we lose ourselves. Until we can make her happy. So... I can't taste food, I can't feel warmth, even your skin is like a rubbery texture. The things that make life worth living..." she shook her head.
"The Lost Cove has been lost for a long time, but I have a map - however I can only navigate to it when the constellations are in the same exact spot. I've been waiting 48 years for this... That cove has something I need... I'm not entirely sure what it is, gold for sure... but I've been hunting for the thing to break this curse, and my first real lead is in that cove... so." she sucked in a breath. "I give the men their booze because they deserve it, they can't taste either. I want them to be ready, to be willing - they are my people and I have to take care of them, but otherwise - they cannot feel anything. Hutch he.. when he starts to lose it - he turns into this greedy monster. Normally he is just a silly prankster and a wise cracking jokester, but his feelings are the only thing that makes him feel alive, otherwise he loses himself. Many are the same, he's just the only one willing to try to do something about it... You were intended to be his.. well.." she shook her head.
"When Odessa gets her fix - then we will be happy again, for another month. Usually we get about a week of feelings before it slowly starts to die away... but that week is worth everything..." she glanced to her. "If you're going to pull your weight, then you have to let the whole Princess thing go. This ship is... well, it's a ship. We deal with the sea, fish, boat scum, sweaty men... but we laugh, we love, and we have a good time - it's a trade. Here you are just one of us, think you can handle that? she grinned.

Adelina chuckled as the captain chased off Hutch. The words were thrown at her from the captain in a string. Portside and bow. All of the names that a sailor would speak. She listened and nodded and adjusted the wheel as she was instructed. She felt the wheel tightened as she fought against the wind, as she fought against the pull. Her arms began to ache as she held the ship there. She could feel the mist of the sea as it sprayed up over the decks of the ship. “You lose all feelings...” She spoke her eyes softened slightly, she glanced to Rey and then quickly back forward. “I couldn’t imagine a life without taste and touch...” She shook her head as she watched the sails as she watched ahead of the ship. Her jaw tightened as Rey spoke of Hutch, when he’d intended for Adelina. She swallowed as she shook the thought from her mind. Filthy pirate.
“48 years....” She breathed as she glanced to Rey once again. The more Rey spoke of the curse and spoke of what it did, the more she spoke of these magical things the more in awe the princess became. She be forced to live forever, that wasn’t a life to live at all. It was just as horrible as living a life of royalty. Everyone wants it, but no one truly understands what must be given up in order to have it.
Adelina sucked in a breath, “I think I can handle that.” She then gave a soft chuckle. “You may need to show me a few things...I’ve not done much....” She paused for a moment, trying to think of the right word. “Work, I guess would be the best way to put it. My entire life is a show for the nobles and the commoner, I am nothing but something to look at and admire. Scrubbing the decks?” She questioned and laughed, “I wouldn’t know where to begin. Just as to perform a noble dance, you may be lost? Hm?” She grinned and looked ahead. “I would like to agree to this trade, and when you return me to my father, I will see to it that you and your men are not punished for my kidnapping.” She gripped onto the wheel as it fought against her.
Adelina grit her teeth slightly as she held on, her arms felt as though they were in fire. She wasn’t sure how much longer she could fight it.
**
“Prince Rainier.” The king stood before the prince. His eyes cold. “When did you last see my daughter?” He questioned.
Will looked to the king with sad eyes. “The ball, my king.” He bowed his head. “I danced with her, as you saw. I danced with her several times as she was passed through the crowd just as she would be any other night.”
“Yes, but at the end of the ball, you did not notice that she was missing?” Merek questioned.
“Sir, I searched for her as well with your Captain of the guard....we searched up and down the ballroom looking for her.” Will spoke quickly, her voice trembled slightly.
The king shifted slightly, “Why do you appear so nervous then?” He questioned.
“My king, I am not nervous, I am worried for Adelina...” He spoke softly. “I am worried for her life.”
“Where is she?” Merek asked, his eyes trained on the prince.
“My king I do not know...if I knew I would have rescued her....I would have brought her home safe...” Will took a step back, he could feel the direction this was going.
“Guards.” The king spoke and four knights stepped forward. “Seize him, throw him into a cage in the gallows. Let him sit there in the sun for a few days and see if he changes his mind. Give the people rocks to throw at him. Just find out where he’s taken my daughter.”
“Merek! No I didn’t take her!” Will fought against the guards. “I don’t know where she is! It wasn’t me!” He pulled against them as they cuffed him. “Please my king. I love her...” He pleaded.
“If you loved her so much, you would have never let her leave your sight. So, if you love her, then you must know where my daughter is. Hmm?” Merek spoke as he stood before him. “I’ll give you a few days to tell me, some time at the gallows should clear your mind.” The king turned and walked off.
“Wait! No! No!” Will fought against them as they pulled him backwards, his heels dragging along the ground.

Rey chuckled as she watched Adelina struggle holding the wheel. She leaned a hand up and grasped the wheel, helping her steady it - and relieving her arms from the weight. "That is the price we pay for eternity. When the opportunity came to us - each one of us took it for our own reasons, for the most - it was a regret. And now we live with that price we paid..." she smiled weakly and then shifted the wheel just slightly.
"You are kind, which is a rare for royalty" she chuckled. "But do not tarnish your reputation for us. We must accept the punishment, besides... we don't die" she grinned then and chuckled. "There is not much your father could do to hurt us. I wouldn't want the world thinking you are friends with dirty nasty pirates, who did kidnap you - you know. Hutch will pay his dues, I want to be angry - but it is partially my fault. It is my job to find us gold - to sooth Odessa, or else they do dumb shit like that so..." she chuckled.
"If you really want to pay your way, then you shall. Swabbing the decks, moving the cannon balls, cooking, cleaning, whatever... I'm sure we can manage to put you to work" she chuckled. "Not today though, tomorrow you can start. For today you get a pass" she grinned. It was a true surprise to see her wanting to do something. Even the people who thought they were most worthy of immortality didn't not willingly submit to the hard work.
"Rob can teach you everything you need to know, but first - you need to learn the ship, eh?" she smirked. She went through the ropes - the sides of the ship, the crows nest, the terms and motions. "Come on, I'll give you the tour..." she nodded to one of her men, who took the wheel.
"Captains Chambers, and guest chambers - right behind the wheel. Below here is the Deck Room, also known as my secondary chambers" she chuckled "All the fun stuff is in there" she winked and lead her to the deck, and then down into the ship itself. "This first level is all rooms for the boys, I'd just avoid it to be truthful. We keep going down and we have the kitchen and dining area, a recreational room, the bath-house..." she opened the doors and let her peek inside as they did so. "The last level is storage, or what we call The Belly, where mama Odessa likes her things" she chuckled and lead her back up to the deck.
"On the bow is another room, for relaxing, usually men on duty stay in here when its raining or quiet, so they can hear me for commands if needed. Then..." she walked through the room, which was a collection of couches and tables. The ship was actually pretty nice, almost luxurious. "The bow, of course" she stood for a moment.
"Tonight the men will finally get to drink, it will be a night of stupidity, games, and laughter... You are welcome to join, I'll make Hutch doesn't bother you" she grinned "or you can stay in your room, either works..." she smiled. "I will get back to the wheel... you are at free will here. Rob should be with you shortly, and if you need me.. well now you know where I'd likely be, hm?" she chuckled. She crossed the deck and walked back up to the wheel, which was on the very top. She gripped the wheel and pulled her compass out. The sun was beginning to set - the most accurate navigation would occur now.

Adelina let out a soft laugh and looked away. “I just would hate for him to take his wrath out on you, even if you can not die. It is something I do not wish upon anyone.” She spoke softly before she listened once more. It felt good to release the wheel, to release that responsibility. She feared she would miss guide the ship into a boulder...something horrible would happen and it would be her fault. She had no idea what she was doing with the ship’s wheel in her hands.
She followed Rey through the tour, looking to the rooms that were pointed out to her. She glanced to the closed doors on the first level, she remembered every item inside of Hutch’s room. She let out a breath as they continued on. She glanced in each of the rooms, the kitchen was large enough to cook for all of the men on the ship, and the dining area was to match. She glanced into the bathhouse and her cheeks turned pink. “Um...” She cleared her throat, she’d caught an eye of things she hadn’t meant to. Laughter exploded from the bathhouse as they walked away. “Fitting that you call it a belly.” She spoke as she glanced to the gold and other items that lay about in the storage area.
Once they returned to the top deck of the ship Adelina took in a breath as she leaned against the railing of the bow. “I may need to find you for some more tea later...if that isn’t too much trouble.” She offered a smile to the captain before she looked back ahead, allowing the sea mist to touch her face. She stood there for a long time, taking in the sea, watching the waves. She eventually sat down on a crate and she watched as the sun set over the horizon. It was beautiful out here. Like nothing she’d ever seen. Without buildings or mountains to block the sun, it slipped over the horizon into the abyss. The colors painted the sky all sorts of different colors. More than she’d ever seen before.
“Enjoying the ride?” Rod asked as he came to her side. He leaned against the railing. “Hutch is a bit of an asshole...” He spoke and shook his head. “But you seem to have faired well, I take it?”
“A bit of punching and kicking him, and he’s all but left me alone the rest of the day.” Adelina looked to Rod. “I am to make myself useful while I am on the ship. You are to teach me how to do the jobs.”
“Oh? A princess swabbing the decks?” Rod chuckled, “I’d pay to see it.”
“Then you’ll be paying a pretty penny.” Adelina spoke as her eyes moved back to the horizon as the sun completely disappeared leaving them in the wake of the night. She glanced as the barrel of ale was carried up onto the top deck. As the men began to pour glasses she watched glowing liquid in their cups. “What is that?”
“Enchanted ale.” Rod grinned, “It tastes incredible. I’ll get you one.” He rushed off and grabbed a few glasses.
Before long music was playing on the decks. Adelina was enjoying herself. She sat across from one of the men playing a game of chess. She was swiftly winning the match with ease. Her cheeks were a rosy pink and she giggled slightly. “Check.” She spoke as she slid her piece into place.
“Shit.” The pirate that sat across from her crossed his arms. “You’re a cheater, ain’t ye?” He looked to her and sighed. There wasn’t a move he could do that would save him.
“Mate.” Adelina knocked the queen from the board and smiled to him. “It’s a strategy game, you have to think about your moves.” She chuckled.
Rod grinned as he watched her. She was getting along with the men rather well, especially after she’d had a few glasses. It took effect on her much faster than it did the men. Possibly because of the curse. Rod chuckled as he watched her pulled away by another pirate to dance with. Adelina was tossed around playfully by the men as they carried on and laughed. Rod watched carefully like a guardian over her, he would make sure she was safe, just as his captain commanded. Anytime any of the men got rough, or they seemed to be getting a bit too close, he’d step in and steal her away. Soon enough Rod pulled her away from the men. “Maybe I gave you a bit too much hm?” He chuckled as he carried her toward the guest quarters.
Adelina giggled in his arms, “Too much? Yes...yes I would say so...” She leaned her head against him.
Rod laughed and shook his head as he set her down on her bed. “Alright, princess. Sleep tight, hm?” He slipped from the room and leaned against the wall outside of the door, standing watch over her.
“She’s fun when she drinks, isn’t she?” Hutch asked, a glass in his hands.
Rod glanced to him and chuckled, “Yes. Yes I can see where you didn’t realize she was a princess at all. She’s very free when she has a bit of spirits.” He held Hutch’s shoulder. “You’re not going in my dear friend. That’s an order.” He spun him around and gave a gentle push in the other direction.

Adelina stared up at the ceiling a smile upon her lips. She took in deep even breaths as she began to slip into a slumber. Soon enough she was unconscious.

Rey stood at the wheel - her eyes glancing upward, staring to the stars. She pinpointed the exact one they needed to be under, they were several miles off, they wouldn't reach it for a good 2 days. Once she was under it - she could navigate them to the cove. It was so close - she could taste it. Would they find anything in the cove? She wasn't sure, but they had to try, something - anything.
An older man approached her, he had a grey beard - and trimmed hair, he was rather clean cut. "Rey" he smiled and handed her a beer. The drink was glowing slightly. Upon the first sip - it was delicious. It was a nice full wheat beer, and was exploding with flavor. "Oh... yes..." she smiled. "Worth every penny" she smiled and took another sip. "How are you, Gerald?" she questioned.
He took a sip from his own drink. "As well as I've ever been... hows the progress?" he questioned.
Rey let out a deep sigh. "I have bits and pieces, but its like someone purposely found everything they could - and ripped it all up and scattered it around. They want me to run around with my head bit off, and who knows... if it's all out there..." she sighed.
"You have a lifetime... you will find it. Where ever they are - they were purposely placed, no one would just let them go unattended, they were too valuable..." he spoke and then he let out a sigh. "You will find them, I believe in you" he smiled and then clicked his glass to hers. "Try to relax... you look tense"
"Uhuh" she chuckled and took another sip. She watched as Gerald walked away. She sipped happily, hues looking to the others dancing - carrying on. There was a long drawn cry when the barrel was empty, but it did not stop the men from partying. A small group played music, some danced, others stood around and talked - laughing, cheerful eyes. She lived for these moments - to watch them happy. Too often they were not.
"To the Captain!" a man shouted. His last sip in his ale. Everyone turned and looked up to her - holding their mugs in the air. They all shouted in broken unison - To the Captain! Then laughter, clinking, drinking, cheering. Rey smirked and nodded downward to them, she finished her ale.
Her cheeks were a slight rose colored - but she was still pretty sober... "Gerald - will you take the wheel? Keep us on course, wake me if there's a problem?" she questioned. Gerald nodded and took over for her. She made her way to to the guest room - she poked her head in to see Adelina fast asleep, her eyes turned to Rod, who nodded.
"You alright?" She questioned.
"I can't trust Hutch further than I can throw him, so... I'll be here." he nodded.
"Alright.. she wants to pay her dues, so make her work tomorrow, okay? She likes the tea- you know the stuff I make, so if she needs it, make sure she gets it... I'm going to be digging into my books until we get there, there's a lot to try to sift through, I want to make sure I don't miss anything..." she nodded and then left to her room.

"Sir... The Thieves guild - they say they saw her being carried off to the port. She was kidnapped." One of the soliders reported to the King, he fidgeted with his hands. "I didn't want to trust them, but they have eyes every where. The only ship at port was.. um..."
"Spit it out" The King growled.
"Odessa, your majesty, Pirates" He swallowed a gulp of spit.
"Pirates?!" The King stood from his throne and cursed deeply. "Where are they headed?!"
"I .. I do not know, they came to purchase something, ale I think it was, no one knows where they are headed..." he shook his head.
"Find someone who can hunt them down..." he growled. "Unbelievable... pirates." he threw his hands up. He made his way to the gallows - his eyes stared to the Prince. His head was limp - hands cold. Dead.

Adelina was curled on her side sleeping soundly when she was rudely awakened by the clanking of a wooden spoon against a metal pot. “Rise and shine, princess!” Rod chuckled as he hit the pan. He grinned as he watched her groan and roll over.
“Oh gods...” Adelina held her head. “Stop...please...please stop...” She whimpered out.
Rod raised a brow. “Ah, the tea.” He spoke he stepped from the room and returned with a glass. “Drink up princess, we’ve a lot to do today. There is always a lot to do to keep this old ship running smoothly for our captain.” He smiled as he held the mug toward her.
Adelina took the mug, she took a few drinks of it. “My head...” She spoke softly and shut her eyes. Ale had never made her feel quite like that.
Rod chuckled and pat her back. “The best way to start your first day, hm?” He chuckled. “Come on, I’ll show you the ropes.”
**
This would be war. The king stood his eyes on the prince’s limp body. His captain approached from behind him. “My king...” He held his helmet in his hand. “This...won’t sit well with King Rainier...”
Merek took in a long breath. “Hm, and so it won’t.” He turned his eyes looking to his captain. “Ready our men, as soon as King Rainier finds out that his son has died, no world of lies could keep us from war. He will find out. Many saw him here in the gallows....I did not anticipate him to die...it looks like he must have suffocated...” He glanced back to the body a weary look in his eyes. “We prepare for war...and we find that ship of bloody pirates and get my daughter back.”
**
Two days time had passed. Adelina had found new clothing by that time. She had on a pair of black leggings that her boots fit well over. Rod had given her a simple white tunic which she wore over a red tank top that another pirate had given her. She had a red sash tied about her waist and a thick belt that hung to the side. She didn’t have any weapons like the other pirates, but she fit in a bit better than before. The brooch from her hair was clipped onto a belt that ran across her chest, to remind her of home, of the prince she would return to.
Adelina was on her hands and knees on the deck with a wooden bucket. She had a brush and she was scrubbing away. “You missed a spot there.” Hutch spoke a grin on his lips.
Adelina looked up to him a chuckle came over her lips. “I don’t see you scrubbing the decks, now do I?” She shot back with her feisty attitude.
Hutch stepped forward and tilted his head, “No, no you don’t.” He kicked the bucket over splashing her with water. “Oops.” He snickered. “Though, I’ll take the view.” He winked.
Adelina stood, her hair soaked in the soapy suds. She grit her teeth as she stared at him. “You are absolutely unbelievable you miserable bastard.” She snapped as she threw the sponge at him.
Hutch snickered as he caught it. “Oh, I believe it.” He grinned as he watched her storm off.
Rod leaned against the railing with his arms crossed. “Why do you continue to toy with her Hutch? You’re only pissing her off.”
Hutch looked to Rod and grinned. “Well, if that’s all I can do, at least I’m good at something.” He chuckled as he walked off.
Adelina slipped into her room and dried her hair. She stared into the mirror and sighed heavily. It seemed that every turn she went around Hutch was hazing her with something else. At least he wasn’t trying to jump her anymore, she was thankful for that. Rod had scared him good enough the last time.
“Princess.” Rod pushed the door open slowly. “We need to get to the kitchen.” He nodded. “Time to cook lunch.”
Adelina nodded, “Of course.” She spoke and followed him down below the decks.
“Don’t let him get to you so much, princess.” Rod spoke a smile on his lips. “He’s just a prankster. He’s harmless.”
Adelina rolled her eyes slightly. “Hardly harmless.” She spoke as she grabbed a few pots and began chopping up food. She was a natural at cooking. Everything else she had trouble with. But cooking. She took to it quickly. The men even liked her cooking. There was something different about the food that she made that no one else could quite get. She sprinkled in seasonings here and there and mashed up a huge pot of potatoes. Before long she had a full spread of food set out in the dining room with plates and the like. Adelina watched as the men grabbed the food onto their plates. She grabbed a plate and placed a few items on it and then she built up another plate. She walked off and carried it up the stairs. She knocked on the captain’s door. “Lunch, Captain.” She spoke as she pushed the door open. “You shouldn’t miss it....” She gave a soft smile as she looked to Rey. She set the plate down before her. Mashed potatoes with gravy, macaroni and cheese, and a blackened white fish. “Even if you can’t taste it.” She let out a soft laugh as she set it down before Rey. “Any luck in finding the cove?” She questioned then.
