Adelina didn’t look to Rey as she sat next to her, she continued to whisper to herself. “I can’t...” She shook her head as tears dripped from her jaw. She fell quiet though as Rey spoke the words back to her. Her breaths trembled as she too gripped onto the sheets, fighting the urge to sob. Flashes of what she’d done blazed before her eyes. Rey began to speak of her father. Of the terrible things that had happened. Of what she did....the lives she took...
When she was offered the bottle of wine Adelina shakily took it into her hands. She held it a moment, she stared into the mirror that sat above the dresser. Her eyes were swollen as she lifted the bottle of wine to her lips and she drank. She took in shaken breaths as she drank the bottle and sat in silence. It took several minutes and a sob came over her lips. “Rey....I can’t...do this...” She whispered. “I...leveled my own city....I knew....I.....I knew them...a-all of them...” She trembled. “My....” She squeezed her eyes shut. “My father isn’t dead.” She whimpered out. “All of that...and he’s.....” She grit her teeth and drank more. Nearly finishing the bottle at that point. Her cheeks had become pink from the alcohol on her empty stomach. But she did not feel hunger. No. She didn’t feel at all. The only thing she felt was pain.
“He’s alive.” She breathed. Her eyes stared to the empty bottle of wine in her hands. “My father is....alive...and...” She stopped a long moment. The thought of her mother entrapped...the thought that she’d been there this whole time. Hidden from her. Adelina trembled and shook her head. “He has my mother’s soul...trapped in that fucking thing....she’s his slave.” Her voice rose, the anger evident in her voice. Her eyes swirled with flames. She looked to Rey finally. “He’s always had her! That’s how he controlled Thorondan! And guess what?!” She spoke with a sharp tone. “He planned to entrap me too! I’m exactly what he wanted he said! Exactly what he wanted....” She threw the bottle of wine violently then. It whipped across the room and shattered easily the pieces exploded into tiny shards and cascaded down onto the floor.
Adelina took in shaken breaths as her power surged within her. “I’m the killing machine he’s always dreamed of having!” She exclaimed a sob came over her lips, tears still ran over her cheeks. “And I can’t even kill myself to get away.” She glared at Rey. She staggered as she stood there, the alcohol setting in more heavily upon her body now. “I can’t do anything.” She whispered. “I can’t....” She sobbed then and fell to her knees in the middle of the room. “I can’t...I can’t Rey....I can’t...”
Adelina’s body tensed slightly then, she let out a painful whimper. The lines along her cheeks lit up a beautiful blue color, the fire in her eyes seemed to be extinguished by a blue light. She gasped and then suddenly Adelina collapsed to her back her body fell limp. Her fists clenched in her unconscious state, her muscles twitched and her chest heaved quickly.
Adelina woke her eyes looked up to an orange glazed sky. She heard the distant roar of Thorondan. She stood within a city of flames. Buildings were knocked to the ground. Flames licked at her skin as she walked she left a trail of fiery prints. Tears ran down her cheeks as she looked to the familiar buildings. Her city.
“Stop this!” The woman’s voice again.
The world around her wavered and went black. Adelina gasped as she appeared on a snow capped mountain. Her eyes looked to a gorgeous city, an Elven city. She staggered as she looked up to the beautifully crafted buildings. The wind whipped against her body nearly causing her to fall from the cliffs. “This is our home, Addie.” The woman appeared next to her, her mother. “This is where he stole me from.” She spoke softly. “It still exists, Addie.” Liliana spoke her eyes looked to her and she tucked a lock of hair behind her long ears. “Don’t let him break you as he did me.” She cupped her cheeks. “Don’t let him tear you to shreds, Addie. You are strong, stronger than I could have ever imagined....but...the things that he will do to you....if you allow him to break you....” Her eyes looked away. “Find the city, Ryuguarde. You can free me if you find the city. You are the only elf that can open the doors, Addie. Your father wants that. He wants the power that is beyond those doors...don’t--....” She let out a yelp and blood began to pour from her mouth as she dropped her hands from the princess, her hands went to her abdomen.
Adelina looked down, her eyes wide. “Mother...” She stared to the dark shadowy blade that stuck through her. She lifted her eyes to see her father standing behind her. “I’ll kill you.” She snarled as the flames flickered in her eyes once again. Adelina rushed forward, her arms wrapped around him and she tackled him backward over the cliff.
Her father laughed all the while. “That’s it Adelina! Get a taste for blood.” He snickered as he flipped so she was beneath him. “Get a taste for your own blood as well.” His feet slammed into her chest as they landed on a rocky ledge.
Adelina cried out as her ribcage gave in, her bones shattered from the force. Her father held his hand forward and shadows began to swirl around her again. “No!” She spoke weakly. She watched as her mother fell from the cliff above and plummeted down the cliff face to the jagged rocks below...then her vision was obscured by shadows once again.
Adelina woke up thrashing. “No!” She screamed as she sat up fire swirled around her as she swung forward. “No!” She whimpered as she fell to her knees, her mind coming to the realization that she was in Rey’s room...she was safe. “Rey...?” She breathed as she looked around, the glass shards had been cleaned up. How long had she been unconscious this time?
