Thunder clapped in the distance as lightening illuminated over the city of Netherfall. It was a peaceful city, on the surface. Crime was low on the streets. Though, things lurked beneath the surface that were deep hidden secrets that were centuries old. Tonight the town was alight, the Obon Festival was in full effect. It was a yearly festival just before the fall harvest in which the city came to life. Those from all around came to enjoy the beer and food. The dances were incredible, musicians from all around traveled in hopes to play for the Obon Festival. It celebrated harvesting of the crops, an old tradition that was also centuries old. Though the harvest wasn’t the only thing to be celebrated, the lives lost in the past wars were celebrated during this time as well. Men and women would paint skulls onto their faces to celebrate, ribbons and other gifts would be left on the headstones of the deceased.
A woman stood at a bar, her eyes were an icy blue. She held a mug in her hand, a soft smirk on her lips. She had beautiful red lipstick on to match her gorgeous attire. She wore a beautiful dress that had a red corset with golden stitching. The dress was hiked up in the front to reveal her black boots that were laced up just above her knee. The dress had beautiful white ruffled material beneath the red and golden thread. She wore sleeves to match, though her shoulders were revealed. She wore a beautiful ruby red necklace around her neck.
“Enjoying the view?” A man asked as he came up next to her. He had on a nice vest with golden trim, though the rest of the material was black. He had short black hair and dark hazel eyes.
The woman glanced over to him, a smirk on her lips. “Pondering, really.” She spoke as she ran her fingertip along the glass.
“Ah, deciding which one, hm?” He chuckled, “You’ve always been so picky with your food.” He grinned, looking to her from the corner of his eye. He took a drink of his beer. “If they only knew the real reason of the festival.” He snickered.
“I’m not picky.” The woman looked to him, though her playful smile didn’t fade away. “You just go for the first thing you see.” She grinned then, teasing him.
“Iris.” Another man approached. He had the same icy blue eyes as her. He wore a blue vest that accented his eyes. He also wore a top hat upon his head and had a nicely kept beard that lined his jaw.
The woman turned her icy eyes to him, meeting his eyes, she rose her brow. “Yes?” She asked, though her expression was bored with him. She wasn’t nearly as entertained.
“Mother requested you home early this evening.” He spoke and cleared his throat.
Iris set her beer down and sighed, she glanced to the other man and grinned, “Why don’t you try to pick an interesting one tonight Julian? I’d help you pick but, it seems duty calls.” She winked to him and chuckled slightly. “Did mother speak of the reasoning to cut the festivities short?” She looked to her brother, her brow raised.
He shook his head, “No, she just requested that I tell you.” He stared into her eyes for a long moment.
“Hm…” Iris sighed softly before she finished her beer. “I guess I should make my choice then huh Peter?” She watched her brother a moment before she set the empty mug down, only a bit of froth was left from the head of the beer.
Peter lowered his eyes from her and looked away. “I suppose so.” He spoke before he slipped back into the crowd.
“Royalties come with drawbacks.” Julian spoke as he glanced to her. “Though, I can’t wait until you’re the queen.” He smiled.
Iris looked to him and then chuckled. “Drawbacks?” She asked and rolled her eyes. “It’s more of a weigh down than anything. Peter gets to do as he pleases while I get stuck with all the work.” She sighed softly. “I only hope I can do as well as mother and father.” She glanced to Julian a moment. “Next week is the ceremony you know?” She asked softly.
Julian took a drink of his beer and nodded slowly. “I know, the hunt begins to find a king for you.” He sighed and then let out a soft chuckle. “Good luck with that.” He winked.
Iris let out a laugh then and smirked, “Yes, I wish the poor soul luck as well.” She raised her brow. “Well, let’s see.” She glanced out to the crowd then, to those dancing in the streets. She took in a breath as her eyes fell on a man that danced with a beer in his hand. “I guess I’ll go with this one tonight. I really don’t have time to choose.” She sighed and she continued looking. This wasn’t her favorite choice, but it would work.
Julian followed her gaze. He chuckled. “Again, I wish them luck.” He grinned as he scoped the crowd again.
Iris looked to him and rolled her eyes. “I’ll see you tomorrow Julian.” She spoke before she slipped from the balcony. She walked through the old home and came down to the streets. She slipped through the crowd and made her way to the man. She slipped close to him, her eyes looked up into his as she cupped her hand on his cheek.
He looked down to her in surprise. He chuckled and leaned down. “You’re beautiful, why are you dancing with me?” He spoke into her ear.
Iris only responded with a grin, she then tossed her chocolatey brown hair to the side as she leaned up. “Why not?” She asked, she held onto his collar. She then smiled to him. “Come on.” She held her hand out to him.
The man took in a breath, his jaw loose. He took her hand and allowed her to pull him through the crowd. Iris pulled him through the streets she took in a deep breath and bit her lip slightly. She glanced around as she tugged him into an alley. “Where are we going?” He asked as he looked to the shadows that surrounded them.
“Not too much farther.” Iris spoke as they rounded a corner, completely secluded. She grinned to him as she turned and pushed his back against the wall. Suddenly Iris leaned forward, fangs sank into the neck of the man. He let out a painful sound as he clutched onto her, though he couldn’t scream. Iris drank his blood, her cheeks became rosy red. She took a step back after a moment. Her hands still holding onto him. She pressed her fingertips to his neck and stared into his eyes. “You’ll remember nothing of this.” She whispered. She removed her fingertips and the puncture wounds were miraculously gone, only a few trickles of blood were left on his neck. The man looked to her with tired eyes, his eyes fluttered as she slid him carefully to the ground. Iris glanced around as she brushed a bit of blood from her lips. She then walked off out of the alley.
She found her way to her old vehicle and climbed inside. The boxy frame was gorgeous, not many had cars in this time, it was a statement of riches truly. Iris started it up and the engine rumbled to life as she took of down the road. She drove to the edge of the town and took off down an old dirt road, it curved through the trees until finally she came to a courtyard of a beautiful mansion. The stone bricks in the front accented the awning that hung over the front door. The home was styled beautifully, with arches and a rounded tower. A huge fireplace jutted from the roof. Iris parked her car and climbed out. She walked into the home. The entrance held a grand staircase that was elegantly designed with marble flooring and dark oak railing.
“Iris.” A voice called.
Iris glanced over to see her mother standing in the doorway. “Mother.” She bowed her head and stepped forward.
“I need you to organize some files.” Her mother gave a gentle smile.
“I left the festival for files?” Iris groaned.
Her mother searched her eyes, she had a lot of the same features as Iris. Her hair was tasseled and the same shade of brown. “Yes, sometimes when you’re the queen you won’t get to go out and play, you’ll need to check to make sure everything is in place. With the attack last week…” She paused.
Iris looked away, her eyes softening. “How is he doing?” She asked and looked up.
“Still hanging on by a thread. Those dirty lycans did something…” The queen’s expression suddenly turned angry. “Could you please help me? With your father ill, it’s a lot on my plate.”
“Of course mother.” Iris nodded. She followed her mother to the study and they began going through paperwork. Filing things, making sure that the other vampires were not breaking the laws. Murder was one of the things they had to police, it was against the vampire law to murder a human.
About 2 hours later the door burst open. “My queen!” Julian stood, his eyes wide, he looked terrified. “I…”
The queen stood, her brow raised. “Julian, what is it dear? And please call me Lucille, you know how I feel about being called that. I may oversee you, but I’m your guide, not your ruler.” She stepped forward, he had someone with him, a bag over their head. “Why on earth did you bring a human here?” Her nose twitched slightly, she could smell the sweet blood.
Julian looked almost petrified. “I…” He bit his lip. “I can’t erase her memory…I’ve tried everything…I…I don’t know what to do.”
Iris raised her brow, intrigued. She looked to the person that he’d tied up. Iris set down the papers that she held and stepped forward. “Why did you tie her up like that, Julian?” She asked, her voice concerned. She stepped forward to untie the woman.
“Don’t.” He glared to her. He then looked back to Lucille. “What do we do?” He pleaded.
“Let’s see.” Lucille stepped forward then.
Iris looked on expectantly. The blood of this human smelled different somehow. She could hear the pulse coming from the woman. It echoed in her ears like a bass drum.

A dark raven came flying from the sky – Cassandra lifted her hand and it landed on her wrist, it’s talons careful not to hurt her. She reached forward and plucked a small scroll from its foot, and then she tossed the bird into the air. It’s wings spread out wide and it lifted high into the air, and soon was off into the trees of the forest.
“What is it?” A males voice came from behind a tree, as he was finishing his business.
“The Order has sent a note. Lord Rygor was able to get one of the Lycans to speak, they are planning an attack on Netherfall, during the Obon Festival… The man we are looking for is Ravus Crane, a Lycan that is plotting the internal attack… External forces will arrive on cue. So… if we can stop the cue, we stop the attack. Innocents live…” She looked to her partner.
“Well, good news… we were headed there anyways..” He grinned. He wore dress pants and dress shoes that were shiny, tucked into his pants was a loose white tunic, a fat leather belt about his waist where he holstered two hand guns. He wore two suspenders that came up over his broad shoulders… and a thin scarf about his neck which was a dark blue.
“Bran..um… your fly..” she pointed.
Bran laughed and zipped his pants and nodded. “Alright, lets go then.” He nodded.
They walked through the forest, they had just located an abandoned house – which was rumored to be a haven for Lycans, but it was empty. Their lead was just rumors amongst the hills…
Cassandra stepped over a log and then sighed. “Does this mean I have to wear that dress?”
“I picked it out! You look good in it!” Bran exclaimed and then leaped over the log. “I’m offended you’d say such a thing.”
“No, it’s the heels and the tightness…” she replied and rolled her eyes. Cassandra had fiery red hair, to which Bran had picked out a bright red dress with a black corset. Though currently she wore tight leather pants, knee high riding boots, and a loose corset style vest, which she wore a white tunic under. Strapped to her thigh was a large knife, border line short sword, and 2 hand guns on her waist as well…
“Ah, well, perhaps we can find this man using just your dashing looks. Perhaps if you’d let me do your hair again..” Bran grinned then. He ran his fingers through his perfectly combed hair, and nodded. “My specialty…”
“Bran… If I let you do that, we’ll spend hours in the dressing room. You need a man already, an outlet…” Cass replied as she stepped over a puddle.
“Right, let me know when you find another openly gay man… I don’t care if hes ugly.” He laughed then…
Soon they came upon the city, it was bustling and busy. “Its been quite some time since I’ve been in Netherfall…” Cass spoke as she looked up… “Let us hope we can find this guy…” she spoke and they entered the gates.
After stopping for a quick bite – Cassandra slipped into the bathroom and changed into the red dress, to which she made Bran put her clothes in his bag, which was slung over his shoulder. “Get us a room at the inn… I’m going to scout the place…” she nodded and then stepped away.
“Wait – wait” Bran stepped over and synched her corset down tighter, and then tucked a piece of curly red hair behind her ear. “A French bun would have been much nicer than that sloppy mess…” he sighed and then nodded. “Ok ok… We can meet at the fountain in an hour?”
Cassandra nodded and then turned away, she stepped into the streets. She made her way to several booth and casually talked to the merchants. The weather, their plans, recent activities in the city. All the while her eyes searched around, she was looking for someone who was clearly uncomfortable…
Her eyes looked over to an open bar, she glanced to two folks who were drinking beer, idly people watching. She caught the eyes of the male, who raised his brows to her, and then continued his conversation. Cassandra quickly diverted her eyes and then stepped away.
Soon she found herself looking to the dancing crowd, it was then that someone bumped into her. “Oh, my apologies…” the man smiled and then took in a deep breath – though threw his nose. “I suppose this is fate hm? Care to dance m’lady?” he questioned and held his hand out. This man had thick chops along his jaw and tossled hair, though he was quite dashing…
Cassandra smiled and took his hand and followed him to the dance area and they began to move together. “What is your name?” she questioned, smiling, though something was off about him… she could see the tip of a tattoo on his neck, a wildly uncommon thing to have…
“My name is Ravus” he smiled and then dipped her. “And you, darling?”
“Cassandra…” she fluttered her eyes. She was a smart one… She had purchased a very expensive perfume, one that had extra hormones laced into the scent – one to attract a Lycan…
Ravus pushed up against her and then he grinned even bigger. “Ah? What a beautiful name… what would you say to dinner hm?”
There was a hand that came inbetween their bodies… that man who caught her eye earlier… he budged in and separated them. “Ah, I see we both have laid eyes on the most beautiful woman here… I am Julian, you would take this man to dinner? Why not a true gentleman hm?” he bowed before her.
Ravus glared to him, and then suddenly he backed off. They exchanged glances, and that was it… This man… Julian – was he the alpha? Cassandra placed a hand on her chest and leaned into him. “Well… that sounds nice…”
“I have something set up.. just for you, come on…” Julian grasped her hand and lead her into a small restaurant. The whole place was empty, a table was set – a candle burning in the middle. “Wine?” he questioned.
“Oh, yes.. that would be lovely, what was it… Julian?” she questioned.
“Yes…” he smiled then and then leaned down. “Don’t mind me…” he kissed her neck, and then his fangs pushed into her skin.
Cassandra shouted and then pushed him back. Julian gasped, blood on his lips still – his eyes glowing bright yellow. “What the?!” he shouted and then rushed forward and placed a hand on her forehead. “Forget it all!” he shouted.
“What? Forget it all? You’re fucking nuts right?!” she pulled her thick dress skirt up and then grasped her dagger, she held it up. “I’ll fucking kill you where you stand, what are you?!” She held a hand to her neck and dabbed the blood. “Some kind of Lycan miscarriage?!” she thrust the blade forward.
Suddenly a bag covered her head and tightened down. “Now now…” he grasped her blade and then checked her for her guns. He pulled them out and then placed them into another bag. “Whats a lady doing with such weapons?” he questioned.
“To kill you evil fuckers” She spoke through the bag.
“I’m sorry…” He then held the gun up and hit her on the back of the head with the butt of the gun…
Next she knew she was pushed into a room. “I tied her because shes dangerous! Look, a dagger dipped in silver!” Julian spoke and then set the bag down, the contents falling out of it and onto the table…
Just as the bag came off her head, Cassandra looked to Iris. The woman at the bar that she saw…. “W-what?” she breathed heavily and shook her head slowly, her head was pounding – a welt grew on the back of her head where she was smacked. “Where am I? Wh- who are you? He.. freaking bit me, is he mental? Is there some kind of new drug out? Since when do Lycans bite necks like that?!” she reached her bound hands up and touched her neck, which had 2 holes poked into it…
“Are you his friend? B-back away” she stumbled backwards, but her back pressed up against a guard, who then gripped her shoulders. “Stop, please – “ her eyes stared to Iris, then to Lucille… Julian…

Iris was less than a foot away when the bag was removed from Cassandra’s head. Her brows rose in surprise though slowly a look of entertainment washed over her expression. Iris’ mouth curved up in a smile and she let out a chuckle. “A drug?” She then giggled, “Lycans?” She raised her brow and shook her head. “Wow Julian.” She looked to him, “I suppose this is my fault, I did tell you to find an interesting one.” She smiled to Julian a moment and then looked back to Cassandra. “Dear God Julian, you didn’t even heal her?” She scoffed. Iris shot Julian a cold stare for a moment. “You know, Julian, the reason you can’t wipe her memory is because you’re used to fast food. You go after one with an actual brain and you can’t wipe her memory.” She let out a chuckle, she then sighed and stepped closer to Cassandra, her eyes turned to a look of concern as she looked over the bite marks again. She could tell that Cassandra had fought and pulled away, the flesh around the punctures was torn. “Excuse me dear, this won’t hurt, I promise. I want to apologize for Julian, he’s young sometimes when we are young we make mistakes.” She placed her hand gently on Cassandra’s neck, a feeling of warmth would have filled the area where the puncture wounds were. Iris was very close as she did this. She slipped her hand up and cupped Cassandra’s cheek. “It’s okay.” She nodded, her voice calm. “There’s no need to panic, everything is going to be okay.” Though Iris frowned then, she could still hear Cassandra’s heart racing. “Why can’t you be persuaded?” She wondered out loud after a few moments of silence.
Julian looked uncomfortable as he glared at Iris. “I told you.” He snapped. “Can’t we just kill her?” He snarled then as he looked to Lucille.
Lucille was standing over the desk, she was wearing black gloves as she sifted through the weapons in the bag. She held one of Cassandra’s pistols in her hands. She turned it over a few times looking at the beauty of the weapon before she ejected the magazine and pulled a bullet from it. “No.” She finally spoke, “We can’t kill her Julian.” Her cold icy eyes locked on his then. “What is wrong with your eyes?” She asked as she set the gun down. “Are you injured?”
Julian clenched his jaw tight and balled his fists. “What else are we supposed to do?” He asked through grit teeth, something wasn’t right.
Lucille raised her brow, “What did you do to him?” She looked to Cassandra. She then pulled something out of the desk, a vial filled with a red liquid. She watched Julian as she popped the cork from the vial. Julian’s chest heaved, he looked wild and uncontrolled. He rushed forward then only for the queen to move with such speed that he was slammed against the wall and held by his throat in the blink of an eye. “Julian.” She spoke, she held him up off the ground slightly, fangs were visible as he writhed against her grip. “Iris dear could you grab the Valerian for me?” She spoke, her voice completely calm.
Iris had her brows tucked together as she’d watched her mother overpower Julian. “Of course mother.” She spoke as she moved to a cabinet, she entered a combination and then popped open the doors. She searched through a few items before she pulled a small bottle out, “How much?” She asked as she drew a syringe.
“Enough.” Lucille responded as she fought against him.
Iris drew up a full syringe and then stepped over. “I’m sorry Julian.” She whispered her eyes sad as she slipped the syringe into his neck. She injected the clear fluid and took a step back.
Lucille held him as he thrashed and growled until he finally slumped to her hold. She slid him to the ground. “William.” She spoke and glanced to the man that stood behind Cassandra. “Could you escort Julian downstairs please? Put him in isolation until I figure out what is going on.” The man stepped around Cassandra and tossed Julian over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, this seemed completely effortless for him as he left the room. Lucille stepped forward to Cassandra then, she stood silently for a moment, looking over her before she let out a soft sigh. “I apologize for the confusion.” She gave a warm smile. “I am Lucille, this is my daughter Iris.” She nodded in Iris’ direction. “What is your name dear?” She asked and paused for a response.
Lucille stepped back over to the weapons, she lifted the silver blade and then chuckled. “So you think we are Lycans?” She asked, her icy eyes stared to Cassandra. “You seem to have a deep hate for Lycans, I can side with you on that. They are filthy dirty creatures, disgusting really.” Lucille put the weapons back into the bag and tied the top shut. “Iris.” She nodded to Cassandra. “Untie our new guest.”
Iris raised a brow and then gave a nod. She stepped forward. “Don’t worry.” She spoke, “I’ll get that wound looked after for you. I’m sorry he hit you like that…” She spoke as she worked at the rope loosening it.
Lucille smiled as she watched Iris. “Why don’t you watch after her? I need to contact the council, I’m afraid I’m not entirely sure of what to do in this situation, and with your father in the condition he’s in…” Her voice trailed off and she let out a soft sigh. “Oh, Cassandra.” She stood before Cassandra then, a warm smile on her lips still. She had a calm aura about her. “Seeing as erasing your memory seems to be a problem, I might as well just tell you.” She paused a moment, Iris looked to her with slightly troubled eyes. “We are vampires, though, nothing like the vampires that are in the myths that you humans have drummed up. Most definitely not Lycans.” She then nodded to Iris. “You’ll be staying here, until we figure this out, I can’t have you hunting us…it seems you’re a Lycan hunter, from the looks of your weapons. We don’t need hunters coming after us too, we’ve kept safe for many centuries.” She then left the room without another word.
Iris took in a slow breath, she looked to Cassandra and bit her lip slightly. “This is a first.” She spoke, “Come on then. Don’t try to run, please spare me the trouble, and don’t try anything. I’ve had an exhausting day, you understand?” She glanced to Cassandra a moment before she led her from the study. They walked through the huge mansion, cornering many hallways and even going up a flight of stairs. She pushed open the door to a room and motioned for Cassandra to step inside. It was a beautiful bedroom with gorgeous wooden carved furniture. “I’m sure you have many questions.” She spoke as she closed the door behind her. Iris stepped over to the window and glanced outside. “If you’d like to get out of that corset you’re welcome to the clothing in the dresser.” She spoke, her arms crossed. Her brows furrowed slightly. “Just what did you do to Julian to cause him to behave in such a manor?” She turned then on her heel, her eyes accusing.

Cassandra tried to lean back, to get away from Iris who touched her cheek. She winced, her brows squeezing. “What the fuck..” she whispered as Iris whispered to her, failing to brainwash her. She kept her thoughts to herself, she was in an unique situation.. one where she wasn’t sure if they were going to kidnap her and abuse her for their sexual desires… or kill her in just a few moments. It was like they were toying with her…
Cassandra looked to Iris – who had injected Julian… he collapsed to the ground and was scooped up by the guard who had stopped her. Her eyes fell to Lucille, who approached her. She stepped back slightly, her brows squeezed together. “Um…Cassandra… is my name…” she replied to Lucille’s question.
Cassandra glanced to her blade, watching as the woman lifted it – admiring it. “Well, you are clearly not Lycan…and yes, I hate them very much. After destroying my home, I pretty much consider every last one of them a walking target for my hate…” she then looked to Iris, who was commanded to untie her.
Cassandra rubbed her wrists slightly as the links were a bit tight… Though as the news spread to her, she stared into the distance. A vampire…. Cassandra reached up to her neck and brought her brows together even tighter. Myths, rumors, but it appears they had hidden so well… surely with this capability to erase memories, this had to have been their method of secrecy all these years… Though occasionally she had heard a crazy yell about it, but a crazy is all they were ever deemed…
Cassandra followed after Iris, they winded through the mansion until they came about the glorious bedroom. The entirety of this home was well beyond her living. She had been in a grand mansion before, but the elegance of this one was beyond her sights. There were paintings and sculptures about, it had a classy yet ancient sort of feeling to it…
They came to a bedroom, to which Cassandra stepped inside and peered about. “I’m sorry- I am staying here? And you’ll kill me if I leave? I don’t understand why you don’t kill me now…” she glared to Iris, who stood looking to her. “I was tailing a leader of the Lycans, who we gathered information that he is formulating a strike during the festivities here… I have people I need to report to, it will be a matter of time before they ponder” she shook her head. “I can’t just sit here because you don’t know what the hell your vampire guy did. Listen, I didn’t do anything. I was dancing, he took me away, tried to bite me – which is a little unorthodox for us humans, and then he tagged and bagged me. I didn’t even get the chance to shoot him, because trust me I would have if I could…” she held her hands up. “So, what’s going to happen then? Am I free? No, because you don’t want me to release your kind to knowledge, so then am I dead? I’m not sure, because you’re not sure? You’re going to have to pick one or the other, kill me, or I’m going to find a way out, one way or another…” she sat down on the bed then, crossing her arms…
***
“Where the hell are you?” Bran questioned as he stood at the fountain, it had been an hour past their meeting time… He began questioning everyone he could find, asking if they had seen her. Five foot Five, bright red hair, feisty tongue, freckles on her nose… No one has seen her…
Bran grit his teeth. “You must have found that Lycan bastard… I need to find him…” Bran gripped his suspenders and then set out into the crowd of people…

Iris crossed her arms as well as she looked to Cassandra. “Killing you would be against our law.” She spoke. “We are not like the Lycans, we do not have open reign, we have a council that oversees our king and queen…” She paused a moment. “My mother and father.” She watched Cassandra as she spoke of the Lycan leader, her brows rose. “An attack?” Her eyes widened slightly. “They wouldn’t…” She whispered to herself.
Iris bit her lip slightly. With her father injured the Lycans would see the coven as damaged. “Ravus.” She spoke her eyes cold. “He’s the leader you’re talking about right?” She had a hateful glare in her eyes now, “He destroyed your home…and he nearly killed my father.”
She shifted slightly, “So they’ll be looking for you hm?” Iris seemed slightly agitated, why couldn’t Julian pick someone who didn’t have another person with them? He was usually smarter than this. “Let’s not leave them waiting huh? Come on.” Iris spoke as she led Cassandra from the room. She grabbed the bag as they passed the study and tossed it over her shoulder, the weapons clattered within the cloth material. They walked out to her beautifully red car. Iris paused a moment. “Look.” She looked to Cassandra. “My mother could have my head for doing this, but it seems we have a common enemy.” She studied Cassandra for a long moment, “Plus you intrigue me.” She then grinned, her fangs were visible this time.
She took in a breath as she held the bag of weapons out. She glanced back toward the home. “Don’t make me regret this.” She opened the door for Cassandra to get into the car. She waited a moment and then closed the door. Iris walked to her side and started up the engine, she was silent for a bit as they headed into the city. “What do you know of the attack that Ravus is planning?” She questioned, her eyes showing her interest as she glanced over to Cassandra.

Cassandra raised an eyebrow… “Yes Ravus… we have also found out that there is a mother coven above his, that Ravus reports to a higher power…” she turned then and untied her lace in the back, easily her corset loosened. When she slipped the dress off – she stood in her leather pants and tunic… she stepped over to the closet and opened the door.
“The Order partnered me with one of their greatest minds, he is cunning and sets good traps… No doubt he is searching for Ravus now, thinking I have been kidnapped. I actually had just located Ravus because Julian swept me away… I wear a perfume which entices Lycans, he was dancing with me and revealed his name to be Ravus even. I thought Julian was his master, because Ravus gave up so swiftly…” she pulled a black vest out, and a black and red jacket. She pulled the clothes on over her tunic – and then turned to Iris…
Cassandra followed, and stood outside the car. As Iris revealed her guns – she took both, she pushed out the cylinder and checked the bullets, she slapped it back into place and then nodded. She slipped the guns onto her belt, and her knife onto her thigh sheath.
“Well, if you mean what you say… if you wanted to kill me, it would be done. As I know… you’re not letting me out of your sight. So, we meet halfway. I still have a job to do, you want these ass holes dead too…” she then climbed into the car and sat down.
“Ravus is setting up bombs, strategically around the city – he has a small clan of probably 10 or so Lycans inside, waiting to begin the attack. Bombs go off – city goes into chaos, they attack. They intend to draw out all special forces, to which a flare will be shot – and 2 packs from the East and West will be waiting to flank…That is what we gathered from Valeforik, a rather new Lycan who we beat the hell out of…” she leaned back. “So my job was to get in, locate Ravus – retrieve the detonator, and possibly kill him if I can. First part – disarm, second – reveal their plan, in hopes to that they wont attack… to save all those people. And lastly, if I can kill him, then that’s a plus…” she leaned back and looked out the side of the window. “No estimate on the time of this attack… so it could be any minute now…”
“I’m not quite sure what I’ll tell The Order, even if we are successful – the expectation Is that I will continue to work with my partner and take more orders….” She crossed her arms.. “Unless you can use your mystical powers to convince my partner to leave the Order, then I can request to ride solo… but, seems your convincing skills don’t work me on me…” she chuckled then.

Iris listened as she drove along. “Bombs…” She muttered, her brows quivered slightly. Netherfall was such a peaceful town, her family had called it home for centuries. Several families of vampires lived in and around Netherfall. The Council was even nearby. “I think there is more to this attack than you realize.” She spoke softly. “Lycans and Vampires have been at war for centuries. It used to be very bad when I was a child. It’s hard to imagine going back to those times. When Lycans were above our kind.” She then looked to Cassandra. “That’s why Ravus would have stood down to Julian, they won’t stand up and fight against us alone…though as a pack…” She grit her teeth. “Ravus and his pack attacked my father, nearly ripped him to shreds and poisoned him…I don’t know if he will make it through, I can only hope. If our king falls…” She stopped speaking then and sighed.
Iris turned off of the dirt road onto the highway and sped up a bit more. She raised a brow and chuckled when Cassandra stabbed at her abilities. “It’s odd that my abilities don’t work on you.” She shot her a sly smile then. “Though, you’re the first in centuries, so don’t worry you haven’t hurt my ego too terribly much. Though I’m still interested to know why Julian was behaving so poorly.” She creased her brows. “Though that is for tomorrow, we have a Lycan to find tonight, yes?” Iris parked and turned the key to shut off the engine. “I will follow your lead, Cassandra.” She looked to her a long moment. A smirk turned up her lips. “I hadn’t wanted to leave the festivities earlier anyway.” She chuckled and then sighed thoughtfully. “Shall we?” She climbed from the car.
“Iris….” A voice spoke.
Iris turned and drew her brows. “Warren?” She asked, her eyes widened. She rushed to the small alley and knelt in front of a man. He had gashes all over him. “What happened?”
“L-Lycans…” He choked on blood in his mouth. “They told me they’re going to destroy our coven…” He gripped her arm with a bloody hand. “Iris...” His eyes fluttered. “You have to warn our queen…” He grit his teeth.
Iris’ breaths quickened as she stared to him. Lycans never attacked in the city. “Hang on.” She looked over his body with worried eyes. He was too injured there wasn’t too much she could do. His breathing slowed and his body fell limp. “Warren?” She asked and grit her teeth. Her eyes fell away from him as she looked over his bloody body. She stood slowly, composing herself. “We find the Lycans.” She looked to Cassandra. “We will find them and stop this nonsense.” Her eyes were cold. “This is our city.” She walked forward. “Where is your partner? What does he look like?” She questioned as she moved toward the crowds.
A man stood in the doorway of one of the merchants. He had messy hair and an unkempt beard. He was brushing something off of his arm as the two walked passed him. His eyes followed Cassandra and then his eyes fell upon Iris. She noticed him and her eyes darkened. In the blink of an eye Iris slammed him against the wall and gripped his throat. “You did it.” She snapped, “I can smell Warren’s blood on you.” She snarled, her fangs visible. “How dare you kill one of us within the city you filthy creature.”
The werewolf chuckled as he was held there. He gripped onto her wrist as she held him. “There will be more where that came from princess.” He grinned.
Iris slammed him harshly, the frame of the door cracked from the force. “Where is Ravus?”
The werewolf snickered then, “You’re angry. How’s the king doing?”
Iris’ eyes melted to the same yellow color that Julian’s eyes had. She snarled and slammed her fist into the side of his head. “Where is Ravus, I won’t ask again.”
He grinned and giggled. “Dancing, he’s always dancing.”
Iris slipped something from the folds of her dress then. Swiftly she stabbed the item forward. It was a metal pin, a silver laced pin. It stabbed into his chest. The werewolf writhed as it melted into his body. His veins began to pop on the surface turning black. “Rot in hell you filthy scumbag.” She spit on him as she fell to the ground, dead. Her eyes slowly melted back to the icy blue as she stepped to Cassandra, she looked to her a moment. “My apologies, Lycans seem to bring out the worst in me.” She brushed a bit of blood from her hand. “Let’s find this bastard, hm?” She didn’t move, she was waiting to follow Cassandra’s lead.

“I’m sorry about your father…” Cassandra whispered, soon they came to the city and they emerged from the car. She turned her head when she heard a voice, her eyes fell upon the mangled man. He had deep scratches across his chest and arms, his face was puffed and red – blood dripping from his lips and nose…
“Fucking Lycans…” Cassandra whispered, her looked up as Iris suddenly walked off. Cassandra looked to the man and placed her hand on his cheek. “I have only read myths of vampires… Iris is the first I’ve ever witnessed, I can’t say if she is kind, but I can see she and her people have their hearts In the right place…” she pulled her knife from her thigh and made a small cut on her hand and held it over his lips.
Warren reached up and grasped her hand, bringing it down – his fangs sunk into her skin and he took a long draw of blood, and then leaned back – gasping as the life came back to him. Visible his cuts and bruises began to fade, his skin amazingly regenerated…
“I was going to ask why a Iris was partnering with a human, but now I see…you are special..” he stood and then walked around the corner, they both stepped into the room – where now Iris stood over the dead body of the Lycan.
“I’ll come with you..” Warren spoke and followed behind them.
“Bran is about 6 foot, perfect black combed hair, scruff, semi-formal…he has a beauty mark just under his eyes, which are green…he should smell like lavender… very homosexual, too…” Cassandra spoke and led them to a the fountain, which she was supposed to meet him. She dug in her pocket and pulled out a coin and set it down on the ground, she could only hope that Bran would return and see it…. He would know right away she was safe.
Cassandra looked to Iris - “I am not dressed to dance… you both may want to get in there, I will observe – I think if they believe you are alone – perhaps he will address you, taunt you, they are a cocky species…” she spoke and then stepped back and nodded. She then brought her fingers to her lips and whistled a few pitches.
***
Bran looked up – a whistle came across the village area, it was faint… but he knew it. It was their call. Bran brought his fingers up to his lips and whistled back, to which he began to head in the direction. “I need a freaking foot massage after all of this walking…” he shifted through the crowd.
Suddenly he was jerked down – something grabbed his arm and drug him into a near by alley way. “You’re friends with that girl, aren’t you? The one that the damn coven stole from my grasps. I’ve never smelt something so god damn delicious, I smelled you though- you both came into this city at the same exact time…your bitch ass Lavender.. so strong..” Ravus pushed Bran against the wall.
Bran grit his teeth and then head butted Ravus, who stumbled backwards. Bran yanked his gun from his waist and fired two shots – which only 1 hit Ravus, it hit him in the arm. Ravus growled and smacked the gun away, he then reached forward and lifted Ravus up with one massive arm, his body then began to morph. His white skin grey brown and hairy, the muscles growing – his bones snapped and crackled as they extended.
Ravus tossed him down and then rushed forward, his claws swiping across Bran’s chest.
Bran cried out as blood splattered forward.. he struggled to bring his gun up, but he fired all 6 bullets as fast as he could. Ravus was too quick – he was already gone…
Bran fell to the ground and gripped his chest, blood pouring out now – he groaned. “No…” he cursed and then brought his fingers to his lips and whistled once more, just before collapsing.

Iris stared at Warren. She drew her brows together. Though she followed Cassandra listening, her eyes glanced to Warren several times. Iris was pulled into the crowd without a word by Warren. She paused and looked up to him, her expression still baffled, “Warren?” She stepped forward and looked him over, she gripped his chin gently and turned his head from side to side. “H-How?” She asked her eyes shocked. “How…I just saw you…you…” Iris was speechless. She’d never seen rapid regeneration like this, sure vampires healed quickly, but it took time. Her father had been on his deathbed for nearly a month now. It was hard to say if her father would recover.
Warren gave a gentle smile and chuckled. “Iris, I’m okay. Really.” He placed his hands on her shoulders and looked deeply into her eyes, he had warm green eyes that looked like a spring forest. “Your friend, she did this, she healed me. I was surprised to see you with a human…but a human that can heal with just a few drops of blood? That’s a human to keep around.”
“She healed you?” Iris asked as they began to dance, he held her close, his arm was wrapped around the middle of her back. “With her blood?” Iris furrowed her brows. She remembered something then, something from a book she’d seen in the study. That explained it. It explained everything. It was the whole reason behind why no one could control her, why her memories couldn’t be wiped.
Suddenly Iris tensed, she heard two shots, fired quickly, in a panic. She took in a slow breath. Warren looked down to her his brows pulled together. “Lycans?” He asked.
Iris was listening, her eyes were trained in the direction of the gunfire. The humans in the crowd didn’t react to the sounds, though a few vampires tilted their heads, glancing for a moment before returning to the dance. Iris was the only vampire that was listening. She heard it then six more shots. Iris moved like a shadow through the night. She’d rushed passed Cassandra and gripped onto her, tugging her quickly along. Warren trailed behind the two. Iris skidded to a stop in front of Bran who lay in a heap on the ground, blood pooled on the brick street beneath him.
Iris glanced to Cassandra before she stepped forward, she eyed the area around them, scanning for any danger before she knelt and rolled him to his back. “Is this him?” She asked, though her nose wrinkled slightly. A look of worry crossed over her then.
Warren crossed his arms. “Lycans are disgusting, none of them have rules, they just do as they please. Mangy mutts.” He looked around, his eyes keen on any movement.
Bran pulled his dagger in an effort to defend himself. It sliced forward and stabbed into Iris’ thigh. She let out a whimper of pain, her eyes melted to the golden yellow color and her breathing increased. Her fangs were visible as she stared into his eyes. Though, she didn’t move. She was like a statue. Her muscles were visibly tensed…
Warren stepped forward, “You said you had only read the myths of vampires.” He reached down and pulled the dagger from Iris’ thigh. “Funny fact, silver influences us too. It doesn’t kill us like it does Lycans.” Warren paused as he watched Iris. “It basically freezes us. We become completely vulnerable.”
Iris suddenly reanimated. She grit her teeth, “God damnit…” She breathed, her voice shaken. She gulped in air as she looked back to Bran. She cupped his cheek. “I’m not here to harm you.” She spoke, her eyes melted back to the icy blue color as she gazed into his eyes. “I’m with Cassandra, I only want to help.” She lowered her hand as Bran’s breathing slowed, his expression softened. Iris looked over him. “You poor thing.” She spoke as she stood. “Cassandra…he’s going to turn.” She looked to Cassandra, her eyes full of sadness. “There’s nothing we can do for him, he will be one of them within the hour.” She lifted the dagger from the ground, turning it over in her hands she looked to her blood as it ran down the blade. She looked to Bran then for a long moment. “I can’t save him…” She spoke, her voice was almost cold as she looked over him. Her nose twitched slightly. She hated the smell of Lycans. “He won’t be himself anymore after he turns…he’ll be a blood thirsty beast, he will rip everything in his path to shreds. That’s how it all starts.” She spoke as if she’d watched it before. In honesty, she had. Her eyes grew soft then and she looked away. “I’m sorry.” She spoke and turned walking away from the trio a few paces before she stopped, she continued to glance around, looking for any sign of danger.

Cassandra’s head jolted to the direction of the bullets. She grit her teeth and then was suddenly yanked forward – she ran along side of Iris as they headed directly to the scene. It was surely Lycans, no one else would have the balls to fire a gun in such busy streets. As they came to the alley way – Cassandra gasped loudly. She slid to her knees next to her mangled friend.
“Cass” Bran reached up. She gripped his hand and held it to her chest, his entire arm was covered with blood – which then slathered over her porcelain skin. “That lycan fucker had the ugliest mutton chops I’ve ever seen…” he reached up and touched his cheek, and let out a broken chuckle. “1/2 an inch….” He shook his head.
“Yeah, no one quite has the facial hair as my dear Bran…” she smiled and reached down, stroking his matted side burns. “You handsome devil you…” her eyes teared up instantly and she huffed in a scattered breath.
“Don’t cry over me, instead – pray for me – I want to rise up” he choked on a bit of blood “rise up to a heaven of hunky red headed men” he chuckled again and shook his head. “Thank you…” he gripped her hand.
“It’s my fault… I left you…” she whispered and shook her head. “If I was there, that mut would be dead on the ground…” she caressed his cheek.
It was then that Iris announced that he was going to turn into a Lycan. In that instant Bran’s began to hyperventilate. “Don’t let me be one of those furry bastards” he gasped for air, spitting up blood as he did so. He gripped onto her hand tighter and then looked dead into Cassandra’s eyes. “Do it…” he spoke.
Cassandra looked to him an then reached forward – she pulled his necklace, which had a coin on it. “I’ll send it to him, with a sappy ass letter saying you never shut up about him…” she gripped the coin and slipped it into her pocket. “Good bye my friend…” she leaned down and kissed her forehead.
“Remind him… that he’s a sorry son of a bitch” he cried out then, his tears began to flow. “Ok – don’t let my last moments be thinking about that fucker. Finish me” he spoke and then spat a goblet of blood. Cassandra then slowly stood and took in a deep breath. She reached for her gun and pulled it out. “Bye Cass…”
The gun fired, the single shot seem to echo into the distance. She could feel the wind grow cold, and waft over her body… Cass knelt down and took both of his guns, and then pressed a hand against his chest. “Okay…” she stood and then looked to Iris with swollen red eyes. “Is there some way… we can get his body? He… deserves a proper burial… he was a good friend of mine, one I’ll never forget… that fucker Ravus will pay..” she gripped his guns… and then slipped them into her pack…

Iris took in a breath she didn’t look to Cassandra or Bran as they exchanged words. As he asked to be killed it brought a pained expression to her face. Warren noticed it and sighed as he looked to her. “We will take care of this.” He spoke, his voice soft.
Iris looked to him a moment and gave a slow nod, though she didn’t speak. She looked back down the alley and grimaced as the sound of the gunshot echoed through the city, bouncing off of the bricks and wood. Something moved in the shadows then. It caught Iris’ attention. Her eyes moved along the shadows and in an instant she lashed forward. A yelp came from the mouth of a man as she gripped around his throat. “Either you’re brave, or you’re an idiot.” She spoke her voice low, her brows pulled together. “Where’s Ravus hm?”
A scrawny lycan trembled as she held onto him. He was new to the lycan form, inexperienced. “I…I…” He stared at Iris. “You’re the princess…..a-aren’t you?”
Iris growled as her eyes narrowed. “Where is that fucking mutt?” Her eyes melted yellow.
Warren knelt and lifted Bran’s limp body. “We will give him a proper burial, no need to worry.” He nodded to Cassandra and glanced to Iris. “Iris.” He spoke.
Iris looked to him, her grip on the Lycan’s throat was causing his face to turn red. She looked back to the young lycan, “Tell me where he is.” She spoke and stared into his eyes. “I won’t continue to ask nicely.”
The lycan stared to her and swallowed, “I can’t.” He choked.
Iris slammed him against the wall, his head collided with the stone of the side of the building. His body fell limp. She sighed as she dropped him to the ground. Her eyes then turned to Warren. She stepped over to him and looked to Cassandra, she had a slight limp to her walk from the wound on her thigh. Blood trickled down over her black leather boot. “I believe we should call it a night.” She spoke, she lowered her eyes to Bran’s limp body. “I’m terribly sorry, Cassandra.” She turned then. Her brow raised. “Peter stop stalking in the shadows before you get yourself killed.” She had an irritated tone to her voice.
Her brother stepped from the shadows, he scratched his head slightly. He looked to the Lycan that was unconscious on the ground. “I heard the gunshots.” He spoke as he knelt next to the young Lycan. “He’s fresh.” He noted.
“Could you bring him back to the manor for questioning? Maybe we can get something out of him.” Iris looked down the alley then. “We shouldn’t stay here much longer, I have an uneasy feeling about all of this.”
Peter stood, his hand held onto the foot of the Lycan. “Who’s this?” He questioned as he dragged the lycan across the ground and stepped closer, his eyes looked over Cassandra, the icy blue was the same as Iris’ eyes.
Iris was between them in an instant, her eyes narrowed. “She’s not a toy.” She spoke her voice low, “It isn’t of your concern. Now get that mutt to our questioning room. Got it, little brother?”
Peter scowled at her his eyes looked to his sister. He then turned and began walking off, though suddenly he was gone. He moved so quickly it was almost as if he’d disappeared into the shadows.
Iris took in a breath, “I apologize for my brother, he’s a bit of an idiot.” She then began to walk back to the car. She was silent as she led them through the back alleys. Soon they came to the car and she popped open the trunk. She looked to Warren and gave a nod as she stepped back. He stepped forward and slipped Bran’s body into the trunk. Iris then climbed into the vehicle and started it, she awaited Warren and Cassandra before she drove off. She drove out of town and down the dirt road that led to the mansion. Thunder clapped in the distance, a light rain began to drizzle by the time they reached the huge home. Iris slipped from the car, she limped and grit her teeth, her adrenaline was wearing off, the pain of the wound was beginning to surface. She took in a breath as Warren lifted Bran’s body. They moved around to the side of the manor where Iris opened up two large wooden doors that lay nearly flat on the ground. It led down into the cellar. “We will take care of his burial tomorrow.” She spoke as she limped down the stairs. She pulled the doors closed behind them and they rounded a few corners. Iris lifted up and pulled a sheet from a cabinet. She lay it on the ground and helped Warren wrap Bran’s body into it. Blood soaked through the white sheet as they did this.
Iris stood and winced. “There.” She nodded, she looked to Warren. “Thank you.” She gave a gentle smile to him and cupped his cheek. Her eyes softened as she turned and looked to Cassandra. “Come on.” She led her through the cellar to another door that took them up a flight of stairs into the main house. Iris had a bit of trouble as she climbed the stairs, though she hid it well. She rounded a few corners and then pushed a door open. Behind the door was a beautiful bedroom with shelves of books. This was Iris’ room. She had a room that was attached that was a part of the tower, it was a study with a gorgeous oak desk. Books and paperwork were neatly arranged on the desk. Her room was well kept. Iris nearly collapsed as she sat at the desk. She gripped her leg, it burned from the silver. The cut looked as though it was made with a hot poker that had just been taken out of the flame. “What type of burial would be suit Bran?” She asked as she pulled a book from the shelf behind her desk. “I’ll make sure it is done well.” She pulled her brows together, trying to focus. The trouble with silver injuries was her body would be fighting off of effects of the silver for several hours, it would cause her to lose concentration as the energy was diverted to this process.

Cassandra had pulled her gun up and held it forward, pointed directly at the Lycan. She watched as Iris interrogated him.. it wasn’t long before she knocked him out – just out of pure rage. Cassandra stepped from Bran, to which she gasped as someone was before her. She pulled her gun – but just then Peter grasped the barrel, he grinned then. In that instant Iris came in between them, and Cassandra slipped the gun away…
“I need a drink…” She whispered and then followed Iris to the car. Her eyes glanced to her thigh – where Bran had stabbed her with his knife… Warren carried Bran’s limp body behind them, but lingered – as to not disturb Cassandra. As they placed the body in the trunk, Warren opened the door for her and they all climbed in.
“Thank you for helping me… Bran was my partner for the past 4 years… a lot of times he saved my life, I saved his, he was becoming the brother I never had. Though… I shouldn’t be so upset by his death, it is an expectation to be killed by Lycans, as a Hunter…” she leaned her head against the cold window. The rain was coming down a little harder now, and lightning struck in the distance. It seemed to mimic her mood, a thundering ominous feeling, like a brewing storm was rising in the distance…
“Thank you Warren…” Cass bowed her head as they exited the car, and he retrieved the body once more. Warren looked to her and then smiled.
“You saved my life… it is only proper that I help you… We are gifted with such a long life span, but not immortality. After living for so long… you feel immortal, and that moment where you know your time is up… there is a wave of sadness and regret. You have given me a second chance, and I’m going to do everything I can to be better… and it starts with this.” Warren nodded and then continued into the mansion.
Soon enough they stood in Iris’s room, she watched as the vampire collapsed into her desk chair… Cassandra walked about the room – observing it. She stepped over to the whiskey glass, and she popped open the bottle. She poured one glass, she lifted it and swirled the liquid – and then took a sip. “Hm… not bad…” she topped off the glass.
She then reached into her pocket and pulled out a standard pocket knife, she grit her teeth as she cut her wrist… she held her hand over an empty glass and allowed a good bit of blood to trickle into the glass. Until there was about half an inch of blood on the bottom of it. She then pulled a cloth out of her pack and wrapped it about her wrist and tied it off, using her mouth to finish the tie.
She then picked up both glasses and stepped to the desk. “Fine aged whiskey… for me… and red hot healing juice for you…” she smirked and set the glass down infront of her. “I… didn’t quite expect your hospitality to be so nice… I am not used to kind people in general. Even though I am technically your prisoner… I … am thankful. Whatever is special about me… I’m not surprised. I’ve always healed quickly, I have amazing reflexes, and I’m very strong for a girl… I never really questioned it…” she took a sip of her drink.
“I should be surprised about learning of Vampires but… you lot are quite strong, and your friendship can be very impactful on this war… I’m not sure if your people plan on fighting, but I can tell there is a fire in your soul that drives your lust to kill them. I could use someone like that… my goal is to bring them down, one way or another, even if that means I die trying…” she nodded. “I’m sure you can’t speak for the entirety of your clan, but… something to think about. We could end it all…” she shifted and took another sip.
“Drink… my thanks to you for helping me…” she finished her whiskey and then leaned back in the seat. “Bran…. Not many people knew of him… he was gay, and his parents disowned him when they found out. Its very taboo in our culture… His fiancé was bitten by a Lycan, and instead of running away with Bran – he tried to turn Bran… so, ultimately… he gave it all up and joined in the war against them. His heart broken – he lost his will to live.” She pulled the coin from her pocket and set it on the table. “He loved his Fiance – Aaron, more than he loved to breath. The Lycans stole Aaron from him…” she shook her head.
“If that sappy fuck could have any burial – it would be cremation, and we’d dump his ashes into the Love Lake – which is what he calls this little lake in his home town, where he had his first kiss.” She chuckled, the buzz was coming on now… “Cremation though is best… he didn’t feel welcome in this world, no sense in burying him with the people who hated him.. no… he deserves something more… No funeral either, he hates it when people cry over him. Maybe just a bit of a celebration, wine spritzers and funnel cakes, those were his two favorites…” she looked to Iris, sitting upward in her seat now… “Thank you… again…”

Iris was flipping through the pages of a book as Cassandra poured the glass of whiskey. “I have much better stuff in the cabinet there.” She spoke and gave a sly smile. “Fine aged, better than anything you can buy.” She chuckled. Her eyes melted to the golden color when Cassandra cut into her own wrist and squeezed her blood into the glass. She felt her pulse increase as she looked to the glass upon the table before her. The smell of Cassandra’s blood was unlike anything she’d smelled before. It smelled better than the finest chocolate.
She looked to the glass, her hand gripped over her thigh still, blood had crept up between her fingers. “You didn’t have to do that.” She spoke, her jaw tight. She then fell quiet again, she looked to Cassandra as she spoke of Bran and his story. Her eyes softened and the icy color returned. A sad looked came over her expression. “Lycans have taken a lot of things from this world.” She spoke softly after Cassandra finished speaking. She seemed to think deeply a moment as she lifted the glass of blood finally. She lifted it to her lips and took a sip. Her eyes melted back to the golden color and her breathing increased slightly. She felt a sudden rush of power wash over her body, her cheeks tinted pink. Her jaw loosened as the wound closed up, the pain faded away. “That…” She still held the glass, it was more than half full, she’d barely had any of the blood. “That is incredible.” She lifted her eyes and looked to Cassandra.
Iris stood she held the glass in her hand. “My father.” She spoke, her brows tucked together. “This could…” She looked to the glass. “I have to try.” She then hurried from the room with the glass. She wound through the house and came to a door. She hesitated a moment before she gave a gentle knock and pushed the door open.
“Iris?” Lucille asked sleepily. “What is it dear? Why do I smell that human’s blood…what happened? Is Cassandra alright?” The light in the room clicked on. Her mother lay in the bed next to her father. Tubing was hooked up to him, he didn’t budge when the door opened. His skin was incredible pale, his veins ran along the surface.
“Mother….I want to try something.” She spoke as she stepped into the room.
“Try something? What is it?” Lucille stood slowly, she pulled on her warm cotton robe that was a deep velvety black. She stepped over. “Why do you have a glass of blood?” She questioned.
“Cassandra is special, there’s something about her.” She looked up to her mother and paused. “Her blood…”
Lucille drew her brows together, “What do you mean?” She asked.
“Just let me try.” Iris stepped around her mother and to the side of the bed. She carefully lifted her father’s torso, his head limply fell to the side. Iris adjusted him and then she held the glass to his lips. She slowly tilted it.
It was almost the moment that the blood hit his tongue that his eyes opened. His hand moved to the glass and he took in a deep breath. He tilted his head back and drank deeply, his eyes were the golden yellow color as he looked to his daughter. “Iris.” He licked his lips. The wounds that littered his body began to disappear, the scratches and bruises were no more.
“How did you do that?” Lucille asked her jaw loose.
“Cassandra’s blood.” Iris responded. “I know there is a term for it…”
Lucille rushed forward and kissed her husband on the lips. “Sebastian…I thought you were going to die…I…”
He gave a warm smile as he stood and pulled the tubing from his arms. He slipped on his own robe and stretched his joints popped and cracked from his lack of movement. “Ah, but I didn’t.” He grinned. He then looked to his daughter. “Iris who is Cassandra?” He looked to the empty glass in his hands again.
“A human.” Iris responded, “Julian drank from her, and he couldn’t erase her memories.”
Sebastian raised his brows. “She is impervious to our talents then?” He chuckled. “It has been quite a long time since one has existed. I can’t even remember the last. Do you honey?” He looked to Lucille.
Lucille thought for a moment. “Even the council didn’t know what to make of her…they are making a decision as to what we do with her…but this new information with her blood…that’s very important, I need to inform them.”
Sebastian placed his hand on her shoulder and shook his head. “Not now.” He gave a soft smile. “Think of what the council may do with her before we sentence this girl to a fate of becoming a slave.”
Iris crossed her arms, “I won’t allow it.” She spoke, “She’s a Lycan hunter, and a good one at that. She could help us put an end to them, to Ravus and his pack.”
“There will always be more, Iris.” Sebastian spoke. “Get some rest, I want to speak with her in the morning, I am sure she’s tired.” He smirked then and looked to his wife.
Iris stepped forward and hugged her father. “She saved you. We owe her.” She whispered before she slipped from the room. She ran downstairs with incredible speed and searched through the cabinets and the refrigerator for food. Iris tossed several things together and eventually she ended up with a small platter with crackers, meat, vegetables and cheese. She rushed through the home and sat back at her desk. She reached and caught a piece of paper that flew from her desk from the speed of her movement. “Some food for you.” She gave a gentle smile.
Iris then took in a breath, “I gave your blood to my father.” She spoke as she placed a piece of cheese on a cracker, and then a slice of meat. She munched on it for a moment and then smiled to Cassandra. “He’s healed….it’s absolutely incredible…” She then raised her brows. “The book.” She zoomed from the room and was back after a few moments. The book was set on the table and she flipped through it, the pages were a blur as she read through it. “Here.” She stopped almost at the end. A beautiful drawing was on the page. “Dhampir.” She spoke and spun the book around. “That’s the proper terminology for what you are.” Iris looked up and searched Cassandra’s features for a moment. “You are immune to our mind tricks…you have heightened strength, you’re a bit faster than a human. Your blood is an elixir to vampires, however…something very fitting, your blood is toxic to a lycan. A few drops can kill a lycan, that’s a lot more damaging than silver.” She stood and pulled a bottle from the cabinet it was a very old bottle of bourbon. She poured some into Cassandra’s empty glass. She then poured herself a glass and sat down. “Do you know your parents?” She asked, curious. “What you are is a hybrid.” She searched Cassandra’s eyes. “I couldn’t remember earlier, I’ve never even seen a hybrid in my time, my father barely even remembers the existence of such a thing. Humans and vampires aren’t to have offspring, it’s law. Because generally most of the offspring die…and it’s absolutely horrible…” She paused a moment. “The it’s almost like being consumed by a disease…the children never make it past 5 or so….” She’d done a lot of reading on the subject.
Iris took in a breath, “Your father was a vampire and your mother was a human.” She spoke searching Cassandra’s eyes. “You’re incredibly special, and very lucky.” She munched on a cucumber slice then as she seemed to slip into thought. “I want to rid the world of the lycans.” She nodded, thinking back to what Cassandra said before about the war. “I would do the world some good to have those mutts erased from it.” She took a drink then and relaxed back into her chair. “We have to keep what you are a secret…if word spreads about this…” She flipped the page in the book where the words spoke of turning the hybrids into blood slaves. When the vampires overtook the lycans….hybrids were used to ensure the vampires survived the brutal wars. Iris took in a breath, “We have to keep you away from the vampires that would do this to you…I’ll keep you safe, you’re my responsibility.” She nodded before she took another swig of her glass.

Cassandra glanced to Iris as her eyes glowed yellow… it was curious to see her own blood cause such a reaction. While she did them a favor – she feared the potential that could occur… but this was the only thing he had to offer these vampires, to win their favor. Her internal attempts were certainly to gain their alliance against the Lycans… to purge the world of their existance…
“Oh--- okay…” Cass watched as Iris zipped from the room, clearly healed… She stood and filled her drink back with whiskey and swirled it in her glass. She took a sip, a hand in her pocket, as she glanced over a bookshelf, reading titles. Thunder boomed in the distance, pink and purple lightning scattered across the skies… Cass turned and looked out the large window, which had a door that lead to a small balcony… she watched as the rain came in sideways, pelting the glass and sliding down…
Suddenly Peter appeared in the room, he sat in Iris’s chair and he grinned. “I can smell you from a mile away, dear…” he spoke and then stood up, he poured himself a glass and then downed it one go. “It seems my big sister has taken a liking to you…” he walked over and placed a hand on Cass’s back, his lustful eyes looking over her, playing amongst her wrist. “You should get that properly bandaged…” he spoke and reached forward.
Cass lifted her hand away and then slacked him across the cheek, the slapping sound echoing against the windows of the room. He scoffed and then laughed “Fiesty one!” he grinned then. “Fair enough, I ought not tempt myself…” he set his glass down and then chuckled. “I’ll sway you though, lovely…” and he disappeared.
She sighed and then set her glass back down, her eyes glancing to the papers about – Iris was writing up the instructions to take care of Bran… She pulled the coin out and looked at it – her fingers rubbing over the medallion. “I’ll take care of him for you Bran… something you couldn’t muster to do…” she put the coin away.
Iris came back and sat down, explaining of her father. “Well… I am glad that he is well… another soul saved from the Lycan’s grasp, is worthwhile to me…” she accepted the glass.. By now her cheeks were bright pink, she was easily slightly drunk…
She reached forward and took the book, her eyes glancing over the handwritten notes about them… “I never knew my parents, I was an orphan. Though if it is against the law… it could be possible they both were killed?” she questioned. “I am not going to question it, I never had a family – so…” she shook her head. “I don’t want to fill my head with that nonsense. So, if this is what I am.. then so it is. I must be concerned with keeping it quiet, just as you say. Especially if the Order were to learn of Vampires… I’m not sure if they will abuse our relationship, or hunt me for being different in that way…or perhaps both” she shook her head and took a sip.
“Oh, that is very smooth…” she took another sip. “Cheers…I’m glad atleast you value my protection…” she leaned back and then finished the glass. “I’m… exhausted…” she glanced over to the bed… She stood up and walked over to the bed, though her balance was off – the line wasn’t exactly straight. She collapsed onto the bed and rolled over.
“Your brother paid me a visit…. Says I smell good” she chuckled. “Or something like that.. I gave ‘em a good slap… but uh….” She glanced to Iris. “if he can smell me, so can everyone else… I should stay right here until I heal?” she questioned. “They know not to fuck with the princess of vampires, of what..have it” she slurred at the end and then let out a long sigh, her body relaxing into the comfortable bed. “Good night….” Her voice was soft and she almost immediately fell asleep.

Iris smiled as she sipped from her glass. A look of amusement came across her face as Cassandra muddled through her words. She watched as stood and made her way to the bed. Though her smile faded rather quickly when Peter was mentioned. She stood and came to the side of the bed. “Yes, yes you should stay right here.” Iris spoke, “I’ll take care of my brother for you.” She drew in a deep breath, though her words fell to the walls of the room as Cassandra had already fallen asleep. She carefully pulled the throw blanket from the end of the bed up over Cassandra, she tucked it in gently. “Let’s see here…” She knelt and carefully untied the bandaging that Cassandra had quickly done on her wrist. She moved about in the room over to a cabinet where she pulled a small bag. Iris pulled out supplies and swiftly worked in the wound. She cleaned it and patched it up. She then bandaged it and looked to the peaceful sleeping face of Cassandra. She gave a chuckle. “I’ve never drank with a human before, I didn’t realize how strong this stuff is.” She spoke as she poured herself another glass. The whiskey didn’t really affect her like it did Cassandra. Her body processed it too quickly for it to matter.
Iris sat back down at her desk and pulled the paper she had started to write instructions on for Bran. Began writing again, she’d take a drink and munch on a snack now and again. She eventually turned to reading through the book. Learning more about what Cassandra was. The more she knew, the better she could protect her. The papers on her desk ruffled with a sudden gust of movement. Iris caught the page and raised her brow, she looked up at her brother whom sat across from her. “Yes, Peter?” She asked agitation on her face.
Peter grinned as he looked to her. “Why do you get to keep the human all to yourself?” He asked, “I don’t get a pet.”
Iris’ jaw tensed as she stared at him. “For the same reasons that you are not allowed to take a place on the throne, Peter. I have self control, for one.”
Peter chuckled as he poured himself a glass. He glanced over to Cassandra as she slept. “You will share won’t you?” He asked. “Her blood smells delicious. It is, isn’t it?”
Iris narrowed her eyes at him. “Get out, Peter. She isn’t a toy, she’s not my pet either. Go on then, get out.” She slammed the book closed on the table and stood, her eyes turned golden.
Peter stood, he bit his lip slightly. It wasn’t often that his sister was this angry with him. He then chuckled, “The council is just going to have us kill her anyway.” He spoke.
“Get out, Peter.” Iris stood before him, she’d slammed her glass down on the table, her eyes were full of anger. “Get whatever fantasy you have out of your mind, she’s not a toy like you like to make all of your meals.” She snarled.
Peter chuckled, “Or is she?” He smirked before he left the room.
Iris grit her teeth, her pulse was raised as she stood in the center of the room for a moment. She turned and stepped over to the balcony where she crossed her arms and stared outside to the brutal storm. The wind whipped against the home. Eventually she sighed and shook her head. She clicked off the lamp on her desk and walked over to her dresser. She pulled off her fancy dress and slipped into a pair of loose pants and a black tank top. She yawned before she walked over to her huge bed. She glanced to Cassandra as another clap of thunder sounded outside. She climbed under the blankets and soon she was off to sleep.
The storm lasted through the night, rain pelted against the windows to her balcony. Iris would wake at every creek of the house, her eyes moved to Cassandra. She kept a watchful eye over her during the night. As morning came she was finally burrowed into her blankets and fast asleep. The sun began to peek above the trees casting an orange glow upon the forest.
The handle to the door turned and the door pushed open slowly. Iris’ eyes shot open and she was on her feet in an instant. Her hair was a jumbled mess from tossing and turning, she stood with a tensed posture with golden eyes. “Well good morning, Princess.” Julian stood before her, “I uh came to get you for breakfast, usually you’re awake.” He glanced passed her to Cassandra. “Your father cooked.” He grinned, “You better hurry before it gets cold.” He searched her eyes a moment.
Iris’ eyes softened she let out a soft sigh. “Sorry Julian.” She spoke and gave a gentle smile. “We will be down in a moment.”
Julian chuckled and smiled to her, “You might want to um…” He brushed a piece of her hair from her eyes, “Fix that.” He smirked.
Iris pushed him playfully, “The storm kept me up.” She chuckled and turned, “Give us a few minutes, make sure Warren and Peter don’t eat all of the food, hm? My father’s cooking is a treat Cassandra should get to enjoy it too.” She moved over to her dresser and grabbed a few things from it. She sifted through the clothes before she nodded to herself and moved to a closed door. She pushed it open to reveal a large bathroom, complete with a beautiful footed bathtub. She closed the door behind her.
Julian lingered for a moment, he looked after Iris before he left the room, closing the door behind him on his way out.
A few minutes later Iris emerged. She wore knee high buckled black boots. She had on a beautiful flowing ensemble, she wore a ruffled black skirt that was held up in the front by black buckles that attached to the bottom of her black corset, the corset had dark blue stitching with beautiful designs stitched into it. She wore a white blouse beneath the corset that had large sleeves that hung down from her elbows. Her shoulders were revealed as part of the blouse design. She still wore the beautiful ruby jewel around her neck, it was a piece that would accent nearly any outfit. She had her hair done carefully with a dark blue flower pinned up on the side to accent her ensemble. She’d had centuries to perfect her looks which was rather important to vampires, especially those of royalty. Iris smiled to Cassandra. “Good morning.” She spoke, “Feel free to anything you like in the dresser there. We can head downstairs as soon as you’re ready.”
Iris sat at her desk, finishing up a few things in the instructions for Bran’s memorial. She folded up the piece of paper and slipped it into an envelope. She then heated up a stick of wax and let it drip a few times on the envelope before she pressed her seal to it. It was a beautiful design with her initials in cursive. I.H.R.
Iris looked up as Cassandra came from the bathroom. She smiled and stood. “Here.” She pulled something from her dresser. She stepped forward and slipped a lovely pin into Cassandra’s hair it had a red rose designed into the metal. “There.” She smirked. “Come on, my father’s breakfast is something not to be missed.” She winked as they left the room.
Iris led Cassandra through the halls and to the grand staircase where they wound down to the grand foyer. She could hear a bit of speaking from the dining area. Iris rounded the corner into the beautiful dining room. The dining area led into the kitchen where Sebastian stood over a huge stove flipping food and grinning. He chuckled as Lucille snuggled up and kissed his cheek. Peter pulled plates from the cabinet and was arranging them on the table. Julian was busy bringing pitchers of drinks to the table, orange juice, apple juice, milk, coffee. It was a full buffet.
Warren smiled and stepped forward he offered Iris a gentle hug and then he looked to Cassandra. “Good morning.” He spoke, “You look incredible, I really like that pin.” He smirked and then looked to Iris, he knew it was hers.
Iris smiled as everyone began to come toward the table. “Come on.” She nodded to Cassandra. She sat down, a spot for Cassandra to her left, to her right Warren sat down. Julian sat down next to Cassandra. Peter sat directly across from Cassandra a smile on his lips as he built his plate. Iris shot him a glare and instantly his smile disappeared and he looked away from Cassandra. Sebastian sat down at the table with Lucille and a few other vampires joined in as well. It was a full table.
“It’s great to be back.” Sebastian spoke as everyone began to load up their plates. “Warren has filled me in on the happenings of the last month.” He raised a glass of red liquid, “We shall take back what is ours from those mutts.”
The others at the table nodded in agreement and clinked their glasses filled with various drinks. Sebastian was the only one to be drinking blood it seemed. Iris offered a gentle smile to Cassandra as she poured herself a glass of orange juice. She then began to eat, she’d piled up her plate with bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes. It was a feast. It was always a feast when Sebastian cooked. Iris hummed happily. “I must say I’ve missed your cooking father.” She smiled then as she looked across the table to him.
Sebastian chuckled as he took a drink from his glass. “Hasn’t everyone?” He raised a brow. The family seemed to get along rather well. Everyone joked with each other as the meal went on. Soon enough the plates of food were all empty, only a few drops were left of each of the juices on the table.
Lucille began cleaning with another one of the vampires, accompanied by Peter. Sebastian stood. “Iris.” He spoke, his playful smile seemed to melt from his expression then.
Iris looked to him and gave a nod. “Watch after her for me.” She whispered to Julian, her hand on his shoulder for a moment before she left the room following her father to his study.
Sebastian sat down at his desk and offered a smile to his daughter. “You’ve found something very valuable my dear.” He pulled a book out. “I still can’t believe it.” He shook his head. “We must protect her.”
Iris nodded, “I know father. If word gets to the council of what she is…”
“It won’t.” Sebastian responded. “As far as the council is concerned I have wiped her memory and we have returned her to the world.”
Iris looked to her father, her brows raised. He wasn’t one to lie to the council. The repercussions were astronomical. But, in this case, it was well worth it to lie. Iris bowed her head then. “So what will we do with her?” She asked softly, a bit of worry in her voice.
Sebastian offered a smile then, “Don’t worry dear, she isn’t going to be bled for her blood, it’s for emergencies. It will be her choice, I will offer it to her. I want to speak with her.” He nodded. “What is she like? Who is she? Warren told me she saved him.” He then paused looking to the worried expression on his daughter’s face. “I know you left against the words of your mother, that will be dealt with at a later time. Warren tells me the Lycans aim to rise against us? Is that correct?” He watched as his daughter nodded. “That won’t be happening, not in our city. This city has been ours for centuries, I’ll not let them take it from us. Especially not a wolfpack like Ravus’…tonight I will be attending the festivities, I want him to know that I am alive and well, that his attack did not weaken us.”
Iris nodded slowly. “Mother won’t approve.” She replied.
“She doesn’t.” Sebastian smirked. “But has that ever stopped us?” He winked. He knew his daughter was much like him. He was willing to press the limits for the greater good even if it meant injuring himself. He always put himself before his family.
Iris chuckled and shook her head. “No father, it hasn’t.”
Sebastian smiled, “So tell me of this human.” He leaned forward his eyes looking into hers.
Iris searched her father’s eyes a moment. “She’s a bit damaged. The Lycans took her home. She wants revenge and to obliterate the Lycans. She’s part of the Order too father.”
Sebastian took in a slow breath and nodded. “Of course, who wouldn’t want revenge against those scum? They’ve ruined so many lives.” He shook his head. “Alright, send her to me, would you?”
Iris stood, “Of course father.” She smiled to him before she left the room.
**
Julian glanced to Cassandra as Iris left the room. He looked across the table to Peter whom had a grin on his lips. “Peter.” He spoke, his voice was commanding. Peter sighed and lifted a few more of the dirty plates, he rolled his eyes before he walked away. “Cassandra, come on.” Julian stood and led her from the room. They weaved through the hallways and eventually came to a beautiful living room with comfortable couches. “I hope breakfast was good. Sebastian has some of the best cooking around.” He chuckled and sat down. Julian took in a breath and crossed his arms. “You seem to have landed yourself in quite the predicament huh?” He gave a gentle smile. “I’m really sorry for pulling you into this, Cassandra, and I want to apologize for my actions. I am not usually so brash, and I tend to think through my actions. You just startled me.” He nodded.
Julian looked to the family portrait that had Iris her mother and father painted on the wall. Peter hadn’t existed yet in that image. The artwork was old. “You know, I haven’t seen Iris offer such protection to a human in ages.” He looked to her and gave a smirk. “Only once.” He smiled. “But she seems quite fond of you, you’ll be safe with her especially with Peter roaming the halls.” He rolled his eyes. “He really means well.” Julian chuckled then. “I was surprised to nearly get attacked entering Iris’ room this morning, usually she is awake by that time.” He smirked, “She must have been too worried last night to sleep very well.” He felt quiet then and glanced over his shoulder. “Ah Iris.”
“Julian.” Iris spoke her eyes watching him. She then looked to Cassandra. “My father would like to speak with you.” She stated, “I’ll show you to his study.” She turned and walked down the hall. “Don’t be intimidated by him, he means well. He just wants to make sure you are not a threat to us, you understand? With your condition…” She paused. “Gift really.” She chuckled. “You really do threaten us with the knowledge that you have of us…but at the same time you offer so much.” Iris stood before the door that led into her father’s study. “I’ll be right back, he’ll keep you safe. I’m just going to drop off the instructions for Bran. It won’t be more than a few minutes.” She spoke as she pulled the small envelope from her pouch on her hip.
**
Sebastian lifted his eyes as Cassandra entered the room. “Ahh the Lycan hunter.” He smiled, “Come on.” He motioned to the chair. “I am Sebastian, I’m sure someone has already told you this.” He paused a moment. “My daughter had a good deal to speak about you, nothing bad though, which is quite interesting. She isn’t one for humans.” He smirked. “She’ll be the queen soon, this could be a great alliance if you will allow it. Now…” He paused and took a drink from a glass that seemed to have whiskey in it. “I have spoken to the council, as far as they are concerned your memory has been wiped and you’ve been returned to the world.” He stared into her eyes a long moment. “I can’t have them knowing that you are a Dhampir, I’m sure my daughter shared some of the history with you. I can barely remember the last Dhampir. Though I know when I was young before the creation of hybrids was banned by the council it was something that everyone seemed to be trying to create. So many poor children were cursed to die…it was an absolutely miserable death.” He shook his head. “Those who did survive didn’t get a true life either, they were drained day in and out of their blood and used to get our kind through the darkest hours of our existence. I am thankful for the Dhampirs in our history but I do not want to enslave you.”
Sebastian leaned back in his chair as he searched her eyes. “I would like to ask for your assistance. If you are willing to help us I will aid you in destroying the Lycans. It is our wish to end them as well.” He then offered a smile, “Iris told me that you are part of the Order.” He took another drink. “Want to have a bit of a history lesson?” He chuckled then. “The Order was founded by a vampire. Agnosies Vladimir. You most likely know the name. He was the first vampire to seek the aid of humans to resist against the Lycans. It has turned out to be a helpful cause. Many humans despise the mangy beasts as much if not more than we do.” He paused then, “So Cassandra. I offer you protection, if you in turn offer us aid. I promise to keep you safe and we will not turn you into a blood bank so to speak, not like they did centuries ago. That is far from my plan. You are an important asset. But, you must be willing, I do not want to force you into anything.” Sebastian relaxed into his chair again and finished off his glass. He set it down on the table and looked to her with curious eyes.
