“It doesn’t take much.” The demoness spoke as she sliced into Krysta’s palm. She squeezed her hand over the bowl of powders for a few moments before she quickly and effectively bandaged Krysta’s hand. The demoness looked to Krysta a moment before she returned to the concoction that she was preparing. She grabbed things from a bookshelf. Even a book which she flipped through quickly.
“Lilith.” Ari spoke which caused the demoness to stop what she was doing and looked up. Ari brushed blood from Vox’s nose, she lifted up on his shirt to find that his skin was modeled with bruising all along his abdomen, dark bruising ran up his right side where the demon had kicked him hard. His chest was barely rising on that side from the broken ribs. It was entirely possible that his lung was filled with blood on that side.
“I know, Ari. I’m working as quick as I can.” The demoness looked back to the book and grabbed a few more vials from the bookshelf. She was quick to mix things together before she rushed from the room and the clattering of pots and pans could be heard as she prepared the mixture.
Ari bit her lower lip as she looked to Vox. He’d never stood up to Fuller in such a way. But then again he had Krysta to protect and that was Vox’s goal. Of all things to be killed over a human. A tear rolled down her cheek as she pulled Vox into her lap. His head pressed against her chest as she used a towel to wipe away the blood. The giggles and smiles were seemingly gone from this demon as she fought back her urge to cry. She’d spent centuries with Vox at her side. All to come to an end by a gang of brute demons that think they own the world.
“Stop that.” Lilith came back into the room, “He isn’t dead, yet.” She gave a swift nod. She held a syringe in her hand that was filled with a deep red substance. Lilith set it down on the bed and she pulled a rubber tourniquet from her back pocket. “Now then.” She spoke as she tied it around his arm and she smacked it a few times. She groaned slightly. “Couldn’t you focus a bit on raising your blood pressure for me, Vox?” She spoke to him as if she was awake as she poked around on his arm. “There.” She lifted the syringe and inserted it into his skin before she injected the substance. Lilith tossed the syringe into a red bin and she wrapped his arm. “Drink?” She looked to Ari and gave a smile. “How about you?” She looked to Krysta. “Oh come on now.” She walked from the room. “It isn’t like we can do any more for him than we’ve done.” She called as the clink of glasses could be heard. “Besides he’s bloodied up my good sheets.” She sighed as she came back into the room and set three small shot glasses down. She poured into each one before she set the bottle down.
Ari looked to Krysta and shook her head to her. “No, Lilith. We don’t need any drinks.” She looked to the unlabeled bottle.
Lilith frowned slightly, “More for me.” She spoke before her eyes looked to Krysta.
“No, Lilith, she doesn’t want any.” Ari spoke, her voice stern. A wild change from her usual bubbly self.
Lilith mouthed Ari’s words with a sarcastic face. “Fine. Don’t say I didn’t offer you anything.” She lifted glass after glass and then let out a breath as she looked to Vox. “He’ll be fine.” She spoke, “At least, we can hope he will be fine.” She looked to Krysta. “Interesting human.” She spoke before she walked from the room.
Ari brushed the hair from Vox’s eyes again, “Come on, Vox.” She whispered. She lifted his shirt again and gazed to his bruised body. “Don’t give up, not now, not when we are finally headed in the right direction.” She sighed as she leaned her back against the wall and closed her eyes.
It took nearly an hour before Vox moved. His breathing had calmed during that time, some of the bruising had disappeared. His eyes fluttered open and he blinked as he found himself looking to a blurry world. Ari was asleep, her head lulled to the side. Vox slowly sat up, he grit his teeth as he felt the pain of his ribs. Everything started to come back to him then. “Krysta...” He looked around the room, his eyes snapped wide. The silvery color had turned into a bright crystal blue.

Krysta flexed her fingers and wrist a bit after Lilith bandaged the small cut she had made on her palm and walked to stand at the foot of the bed Vox was in. Looking at how distraught Ari was and just how bad of shape Vox was in she felt what she thought to be a touch of guilt, or maybe it was a lot of guilt. If hadn't been trying to protect her from the group of thugs, or if she had been quicker to act, then maybe he wouldn't have been in such bad shape. Krysta wasn't an overly impulsive person and sometimes she regretted that fact. "I'm sorry Ari.." She whispered and sighed as she fought against the feeling of dread that had started to creep over her.
Watching Lilith inject the red substance into his arm she felt a bit squeamish from the sight of the needle, but managed to ignore it for the most part. Then Lilith seemed done with her remedies and left Vox to heal himself. "That's it?" She asked in a disbelief as Lilith walked out of the room to get drinks. "Just a quick shot and that's supposed to fix everything?" She looked to Ari with confusion then back to Lilith as she came into the room with a bottle and shot glasses. Unimpressed by the woman's work she turned away from Lilith and moved to the other side of the bed and knelt on the ground with her arms and head resting on the edge. Even if she didn't think the care was enough to fix Vox she didn't know what to do in addition to it.
The time passed painstakingly slow as they waited, hell Ari even fell asleep, but Krysta continuously checked over Vox. She made sure he was still breathing and was amazed to find that the bruising on his torso was even starting to fade. Perhaps she hadn't given enough credit to Lilith, but she wasn't going to admit that out loud. The wait also gave her a moment to consider the various emotions that she had felt during the attack and following events. One part of herself wanted to rationalize it and say that the only reason she worried about Vox and had bothered to help kill Fuller's demons was because of their deal. Another part of herself realized that she hadn't been acting on rationale alone. Seeing Vox kicked and beaten had triggered the same response that she would have felt if she saw one of her fellow humans being beaten, and she had offered her help and even her blood without a second thought to save the demon. She huffed slightly as she wrestled with the facts that she could sort of see these two as companions. They were demons and dangerous and the only thing that kept her alive in their presence was the fact that they could use Krysta for their own means. If she didn't get a grip on herself it would end up getting her killed.
Kyrsta had just started to drift off to sleep herself when she felt Vox's weight shift on the bed. She opened her eyes and sat up straight as she brushed some of her hair out of her eyes and watched him sit up. She could tell he still hurt but it was nothing short of a miracle that he was able to move at all with the injuries he had sustained. "I didn't run off." She told him when she heard him say her name and glance around. Getting back up to her feet she groaned a bit as one of her legs had fallen asleep and she flexed the muscles a bit to get the circulation going again. "You almost bit the dust, you know? And I'm pretty sure Ari almost had a heart attack." She smirked and motioned to the sleeping woman behind Vox. "Luckily she showed up when she did.. and just how many colors do your eyes change to?" She asked when she finally noticed the different hue. It was brighter and had a clarity about it that she had only seen a handful of times. Domiel had eyes like that, but it was still different in a way. Maybe it was because Vox lacked the utter smug attitude and ugly smirk that the angel usually wore as he looked down on the humans around him.

Vox’s eyes locked on Krysta as soon as he heard her voice. He watched as she moved in front of him. His brows raised slightly when she mentioned Ari and he glanced to her. Ari was still sound asleep, it seemed she was rather exhausted. He looked back to Krysta, “My eyes?” He questioned, his brows furrowed slightly. “What do you mean?” He stood and wobbled slightly, his hand gripped onto her shoulder. He smirked to her, “Thank you for the balance check.” He smirked slightly and laughed, though as he laughed he held his hand to his side. “Where are we?” He asked as he glanced around the room.
“Kazros Voxnir.” Lilith’s voice spoke as she stepped back into the room. “Back to life.” She smiled, “Thanks to your human here.” She chuckled softly.
Ari had begun to rouse by this point. She yawned and rubbed her eyes. “Vox.” She had a warm smile as she realized he was awake and walking around. “You almost died...” She swung her legs over the side of the bed and stood.
Vox was still looking to Lilith whom had called him by his angelic name. “No one has called me that for centuries.” He spoke, his voice soft as he eyed the demoness. “How did you….?
“Lilith knows a lot of things, Vox.” Ari stepped to his side. She looked him over, inspecting him here and there, she lifted his shirt slightly and took a look at his side. “Better...” She felt his ribs and frowned when he winced. “You need to rest, love.” She looked to him with worried eyes.
Lilith stepped forward and held a small burlap bag out. “Herbs for tea.” She smiled. “It should help.” She chuckled softly. “Go one, Ari is right, you need your rest Kazros.”
Vox eyed her a moment, he had been Vox so long he didn’t know what to think of being called Kazros again. He sucked in a breath as he took the small tightly rolled bag. “Thanks.” He looked to it and turned it over in his hands. He glanced to Ari, “Home then.” He nodded.
Ari looked to Vox with a puzzled expression then, her eyes locked on his. She tilted her head slightly and a smirk curved up her lips. She’d noticed the color change in his eyes. “Hm, yes, home.” She looked to Krysta with a grin. “Now that we are a happy family again.” She chuckled. “Come along then.” She wrapped her arm around Vox.
He winced and let out a grunt as he gripped onto her hand. “I’ll walk...myself.” He spoke through grit teeth as he glared to her. He then looked to Krysta. “We can finish what we started tomorrow, hm?” He gave a gentle smile to her. He limped slightly as he walked, but for what his body had been put through he truly was lucky to walk at all. To breathe even. Whatever Lilith did was a true miracle. He climbed the stairs and held heavily onto the railing as he did so. The whole way back to the apartment he limped, but he denied Ari’s help more than once. Vox scanned into the home and he shuffled to the couch before he collapsed onto it with a groan.
Ari watched him with curious eyes. She then looked back to Krysta. “He’s alive because of you.” She spoke with a soft smile. “I am in debt to you for saving him.” The smirk was gone from her expression, this was a serious gesture. It wasn’t her making a deal. Nor was it her trying to get one over on the human. She truly knew that she owed Krysta for defending Vox against Fuller’s goons. She then glanced to Vox as he relaxed back on the couch. “I’m going to run out and get something for his pain...alright?” She smiled, “Try to keep him under control.” She winked at Krysta as she slipped from the home quickly.
Vox looked to Krysta as the front door closed. He slowly stood himself back up and moved to the kitchen where he set the burlap roll down. He then walked to the master bathroom where he splashed cold water across his face. It was then that his eyes met his reflection. The crystal blue color. He drew his brows together, “What...” He blinked several times and tapped his cheek slightly. His eyes were the blue of an angel. He’d lost the color when he was cast out from heaven and the color had been replaced with the silvery color that he’d worn for centuries. Vox stepped from the bathroom water still dripped from his chin as he found his way to Krysta. “What color are my eyes? Are they blue?” He asked, he stared into her eyes. “Like….angel blue?” He asked, his heart was pounding within his chest.

Seeing Vox get up from the bed Krysta's hand went out instinctively in case he lost his balance and when he gripped her shoulder she grasped his arm to help give him extra support. "No problem.." She'd muttered back to him and before she could answer the question on where they were the little demon Lilith entered the room and said a name that Krysta didn't recognize. Kazros? By the way Vox reacted she guessed it to be his name, maybe Vox was just a nickname? She'd ask him or Ari about it later.
When they left Lilith's Krysta was the last one out the door and she turned to the small demon and gave her a small but genuine smile. "Thank you." She told her before following the other two out to return to their home. Krysta didn't know about being a family, even with her recent doubts, but it was nice to know both of her allies were alive. During the walk Krysta trailed behind a few feet, but when Ari flinched if Vox seemed he'd lose his balance so did Krysta. The last time they had gone back to the apartment from an outing she had been the one limping and Vox had practically carried her back. It was sort of ironic that he roles had flipped around.
Once they were back at the penthouse and Vox let himself fall onto the couch Krysta frowned as she could still see the pain written all over his expression. Though when Ari spoke of owing her for helping Vox she shrugged it off. She hadn't done it for Ari. "He would have done the same for me." Was her response.
While Vox disappeared into the master bedroom and Ari had left Krysta moved into the kitchen and picked up the burlap sack that he had deposited on the counter. When she opened it and could smell the slightly bitter odor from the crushed leaves she wrinkled her nose a bit. She had never been a huge fan of tea and this seemed like it would be a little worse to drink than normal. Regardless she set the roll back down and opened a few cabinets until she found a kettle and took it to the sink to fill it with water. When Vox returned she had just placed it on the back burner of the stove and turned the element on in order to heat it for the tea.
"Yeah, that's why I asked how many colors your eyes can change to." She responded and stepped a little closer to him and met his gaze to double check that the color was in fact the blue of an angel. "You said you were an angel though, right? Is that strange for you to have blue eyes?" She stepped away from him again and opened a couple more cabinets until she found mugs and one of those re-usable tea balls that prevented the loose leaf tea from getting into the drink while still allowed it to steep. She stepped back over to the sink and took a couple pinches of the herbs and placed it in the contraption, closed it and set it in the mug she had gotten out. "Listen.. I'm sorry I didn't react faster. I should have known that was going to get ugly from the way those guys approached us." She paused and chewed her bottom lip for a moment. "I guess it's just a good thing they underestimated me. Else we both would have been in bad shape." She cleared her throat and brushed her hair behind her ear with the hand that had the bandage on it from when Lilith had taken some of her blood.

Vox watched as she placed the herbal leaves into the tea infuser. He took in a breath as she stepped closer to him to gaze into his eyes. He drew his brows together when she confirmed that his eyes were blue. “I...haven’t had blue eyes since I was an angel...” He muttered, confusion washed over his expression. “I’m not an angel, Krysta...” He spoke his voice grew even softer as he looked to the bandage upon her hand.
Vox reached forward and took her hand into his. He flipped it and looked to the palm where blood had soaked through the bandage slightly before the wound clotted. He lifted his eyes to meet hers as he took in a breath. Connections were a funny thing. He’d heard things when he had first become a demon. Angel’s blood. If a demon could be given angel’s blood it could restore that demon. But Krysta was not a angel. He still held her hand, almost as if he was frozen as he stared back to the small wound. He knew of demons using a few drops of human blood to heal more quickly in dire circumstances. He’d been there when Lilith healed others when the apocalypse first happened. He was on the front lines pulling wounded demons from the streets and injecting them with blood. But this never happened. He’d been injected with the blood serum before and his eyes had never changed from the silvery color.
Vox bit his lower lip. “I shouldn’t have allowed them to get so close. You don’t need to apologize, Krysta.” He spoke her name instead of using the pet name he’d given her. He gave a weak smile before he finally let her hand slip from his. “There’s something about you.” He spoke.
“How sweet.” Ari had slipped back into the apartment. “I knew she was your type.” She chuckled as she set down a bottle of pills on the counter. When Vox didn’t laugh Ari frowned slightly. “What is it, love?” She asked as she raised a brow.
Vox shifted slightly and took in a breath, he shook his head then. “It’s something...” He spoke his brows furrowed together. “Something...” He looked to Krysta with almost curious eyes now. He couldn’t place it. He let out a breath and placed his hand on his side which ached. “I just haven’t figured it out yet...”

Krysta didn't know what to make of his blue eyes anymore than he did and was left to simply shrug before he grasped her hand that had the small cut in it. She remained still as Vox seemed to ponder over something as he looked to the little cut on her palm. She didn't understand his confusion. She had simply done what Lilith had said would save Vox and nothing more.
The tea kettle had just started to whistle when Vox released her hand and stepped to the stove to pull the pot from the burner and turned the dial above it the stove to switch it off. She had been about to reply to Vox's statement when she heard Ari's voice. For a woman who wanted to play match maker she sure knew how to kill the mood in a room. It made Krysta smile though as she poured the hot water into the mug over the infuser. Ari's quirky behavior allowed for the atmosphere to stay light in the face of Vox's utter seriousness at times.
"I don't know what to tell you Vox." Krysta stated as she set the mug in front of him on the counter. "Lilith said it would help you so I agreed to let her use some of my blood. Nothing else to it." She glanced to Ari to see if the demoness would offer up any information that might shed some light on the situation as she packed up the remaining herb, rolling them back in the paper, and tucking it against the wall at the back of the counter.
Stepping to the other side of the sink she reached behind her back and pulled the blessed blade from behind her back to inspect it. The wire that she had used to yank it back from being embedded in one of Fuller's goon's skull was still unraveled and haphazardly wrapped around the handle. The end of the pommel had come off and created the ring that had fit around her finger for grip and the handle itself was hollow with the tang of the weapon coming down the middle of the otherwise empty space. Krysta started to wrap the wire around the tang once more and pushed it up into the handle before clicking the ring back onto the end. It was a one time use type thing when it became unraveled but was still very useful as she had shown today. Then she slid the weapon back into its sheath against the small of her back.

Vox looked to the mug of tea that she’d made for him and frowned slightly. He lifted the mug of steaming liquid into his hands and inhaled the steam. He’d always loved the herbal teas that Lilith created. He glanced to Ari just as Krysta had. Ari crossed her arms over her chest. A smirk curved up her lips. “There is one possibility.” She spoke with a grin now as she watched Krysta clean the blade. “There have been stories of something called a Nephilim.” She paused a moment as she watched Vox sip from the mug. “Some texts interpret the Nephilim to be fallen angels.” She paused a moment. “Are you familiar with Genesis 6:1-4?” She questioned as her eyes watched Krysta closely. “When people began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that they were fair; and they took wives for themselves of all that they chose. Then the Lord said, "My spirit shall not abide in mortals forever, for they are flesh; their days shall be one hundred twenty years." The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went in to the daughters of humans, who bore children to them. These were the heroes that were of old, warriors of renown.” Ari stood with a smile upon her lips. “Allow me to clarify that.” She raised a brow as she stepped to the refrigerator and she pulled out a bottle of wine. She poured the fruity white wine into a glass and she leaned against the counter. Her eyes returned to Krysta. “Angels have been having offspring with humans for ages. Divine creatures?” She questioned and laughed as she shook her head. “Angels are as corrupt as Demons, but they get the good stories. Not demons. No not us. Even if we hadn’t done a thing, even if we saved an entire city.” She cast a glance to Vox whom frowned.
“So, it is entirely possible that you, Krysta, are in fact a descendant of a very potent angel.” She smirked then.
Vox’s expression changed slightly then. “That can’t be.” He shook his head, though his blue eyes told another story. He looked to Krysta and he stepped quickly from the room after he’d set the tea down. It splashed over the edges of the mug slightly as he hurried into the other room.
“Why not?” Ari called after him. “You’re the one with angel eyes again, love. Demons don’t have those eyes.” She sipped from her wine. “It explains a bit about you, doll.” She looked to Krysta. “You wield your blade very, very well. You’re quick to act.” She tilted her head slightly, “And I haven’t quite seen a human carry an angelic blade with such ease. Most can’t use it like you do.” She shrugged as she heard Vox’s footsteps returning.
Vox had something wrapped in a thick wool blanket like material. He set it down upon the counter. “If you’re a Nephilim….then...you should be able to use my blade.” He looked to Krysta. It was his angelic sword, the very sword he’d used to stop the war. The sword he’d killed many demons with in his day as an angel. He cleared his throat slightly as he carefully unraveled the blanket. He’d wrapped it up when he fell from heaven, even a slight touch of the weapon singed his skin and would burn for days. As he unraveled it the blade slipped and started to fall, in reaction Vox had reached out for it.
“Vox!” Ari’s eyes widened.
Vox held the hilt of the blade in his hand. He took in quick breaths, no pain. It didn’t burn. Black lines didn’t spread up his arm. He slowly pulled the blade from the sheath, beautiful blue inscriptions lined the blade, they glowed to his touch. “I...” He pushed the blade back in and set it upon the counter. “I must be dreaming.” He spoke as he took a step back. “I nearly died the last time I touched the hilt...” He shook his head. “Let alone...the blade hasn’t glowed since I was cast out.” He then looked to Krysta, “Can you pull the blade out? I want to see if it glows for you...” His eyes were full of curiosity, a light welcoming tone. It was more calming than the silvery color, his expression was inviting as well. His appearance just with the change of his eyes made him more approachable it seemed. “If you are a Nephilim we can’t let anyone know...I thought they were all lost centuries ago...”

Listening to Ari talk was like listening to a riveting public speaker that held their audience captive by every word they spoke. She even paused and smirked at the appropriate times to let the room know she held all the cards as she recited the biblical passage and then proceeded to explain it in layman terms. When she finally stated that Krysta was part angel she laughed a bit at the absurdity. When Ari didn't laugh with her though she quickly lost her smile and glanced between the two with uncertainty. "Wait, are you serious?" She asked. "I'm not an angel. My family tracked their lineage back over hundreds of years because my Dad was a paranoid nutcase. Everyone is human, a little insane, but human. The only reason I know how to use a knife is cause I was forced to learn different martial arts and shit as a kid." She couldn't count the number of family members in her family that had been imprisoned or shunned for doing absolutely lunatic things. It was a marvel she wasn't as paranoid or insane at them, or maybe she was and she just didn't realize it. She was the one staying with two demons who were trying to say she was part angel after all. It qualified as nuts.
When Vox disappeared then returned with a long and wrapped object she sighed and shifted her weight. This was ridiculous. Maybe They had hit their heads. Humans couldn't interbreed with angels or demons. If so then Domiel would have had several women pregnant with his spawn by now. It's not like the man even knew what the word contraceptive even meant.
Seeing the sword slip from the cloth and start to fall Krysta also jump to try and catch it, but Vox was closer so he reached it first. She didn't know the implications of the blade but from his and Ari's reaction him touching the blade was a rather big deal. "No, this is absurd. I'm not part angel. Are you even listening to yourselves?" Where she was standing she couldn't get out of the kitchen without pushing past both Ari and Vox and she had a feeling they weren't going to let her just slip by.
"Just touch the sword. If it doesn't work then we wont bother you about it again. It's a simple request, please?" Ari asked in her silky sweet voice which made Krysta give a sigh and roll her head back like her mother had just asked her to do some menial task she found inconveniencing.
"This is ridiculous." She muttered under her breath and stepped up to the counter where the sword was sitting. Reaching up to the hilt her hand hovered over it for a moment. She didn't know why she was so against trying this. Maybe it's because she didn't want anything about herself to be anything like the beings that ruined the world. When she grasped the hilt of the blade she found the metal to be warm, not uncomfortably so but like Vox had been holding it for several minutes rather than just for a few seconds. When she pulled it from the sheath the blade's inscriptions were glowing, but not the soft blue they had been when Vox pulled it. They were a dim turquoise. She only looked at the color for a minute before shoving the blade back into its sheath and setting it back down on the counter. "See, not blue."

Vox leaned forward slightly as he watched Krysta. As she pulled the blade out his eyes stared to the glowing inscriptions, he smirked and a chuckle came over his lips. “No not blue at all.” He looked to her a long moment. “Of course it isn’t blue, darling. You’re not an angel, but...you are a Nephilim. A bit different, so the color it glows is a bit different.”
Ari grinned brightly as she stepped forward. “You’ve no idea the power you have.” She chuckled softly. “You truly are a gift of the the Archangels from centuries ago. Something in your family line happened, one of the women slept with an Archangel. She had to. There is no other excuse for such a thing. That blade would not glow at all if you were just a human. It would be a useless blade, that is a true angel’s blade, one of the few that we demons have because Vox refused to get rid of the damn thing. He said he’d be an angel one day again. Right Vox?” She looked to him with a smile. “That’s what you said isn’t it?”
Vox took in a deep breath, “I wish to regain my wings...I was betrayed by Domiel...I never deserved to be a demon...” He sighed softly. “It’s impossible, I thought all the Nephilim were killed by Lucifer? He hunted them down and killed all of them...centuries ago...she must be of a new strain...or...” He shook his head. “Somehow, one of your ancestors survived...” He tilted his head slightly. “You are an angel hybrid, you have power to kill demons. You could kill Lucifer, easily with that sword.” He glanced to the sword that was upon the table. “I’ll help you do it.” He grinned, “Kill all of the Circle.”
Ari couldn’t help but grin, she hadn’t even had to convince Vox and he was going along with her deal that she’d made with Krysta. “Every last one. Drive the other demons back to hell and get your wings back, get my wings back.” She looked to Krysta, “Get your world back, turn it back into the world as you know it. Restore humanity. You’d be the hero of this story Krysta with two demons at your side, soon to be angels that will forever protect you.”
Vox stepped forward, “You can’t deny this, it is as if his holiness has blessed you with power to protect the world.” He cupped her cheeks as he gazed into her eyes, a giddy smile upon his lips. The thought of returning to his angelic form. It was something he had all but thrown away. “I won’t let anything happen to you. No deal needed. I’ll follow you to end this apocalypse.” He kissed her forehead then before he hugged her, a chuckle came from him before he finally released her. His icy eyes looked to her. “We do still need to kill Domiel though, we can’t have corrupt angels in your new world.” He winked playfully.

Krysta wasn't smiling. She wasn't excited. Sure she wanted to kill the Circle and to kill Lucifer but she wanted to do it as a human. To prove they weren't as weak as everything else thought they were. Now she was going to be lumped in with the rest of the holy and demonic beings. When the apocalypse ended and everything returned to normal where would she fit in? She was something in the middle and didn't belong with either group of beings. A freak, for the lack of a better term. When Vox grabbed her face, kissed her forehead and hugged she she simply stood in place and let him move her as he pleased. "Yeah, sounds great." She replied in a flat tone. "Well your time is coming up to catch Domiel out in the open here in the next couple of days, and I already got a fool-proof plan to kill Mervin. Just need to get some supplies. How many other than Lucifer is there beyond that?"
It felt like the end was right around the corner and they held the element of surprise against the rest of the demons. No one would suspect two demons to be working to end the apocalypse with a, what appeared to be, human woman. They were an unlikely bunch that was for sure. "And I'm pretty sure Lucifer could kill me with a flick of his wrist. That hasn't changed." She lifted her once mutilated leg and pat her calf. "I'm still pretty fragile and I don't think being a Nepha-whatever really changed that." For being so sure of herself Krysta seemed to have suddenly taken a hit to her confidence.

How many. That was a good question. The circle was compromised of 10 demons other than Ari and Vox, plus Lucifer at the head of the circle. It was 9 now that Fuller was dead. One down, 9 to go. Vox frowned slightly when he stepped back from Krysta. Her flat expression, her unenthusiastic voice. He crossed his arms over his chest as he watched her. He drew his brows together as she spoke of how easily Lucifer could kill her. “True. Of course that is if you allow him to do such a thing.” He searched her eyes. “Where’s the fight now, darling?” He questioned with a smirk upon his lips. “I know you’ve got it, just yesterday you would have easily torn my head off, ripped me limb from limb if I didn’t have information to give to you. You would have shot me point blank I believe. Or perhaps one of the idiots that you had galavanting around with you would have done the dirty deed. Though if it was something they would do I can almost guarantee it would have been an accident.” He chuckled. “One that you would have most likely castrated them for. Losing a viable subject.” He shrugged. “Just as you to me are a trove of information, but you’re more than that, clearly.” He smirked. “You can’t stop pushing forward just because things haven’t gone the way you’ve wanted.”
Vox shifted and shrugged slightly, “If you do the world will forever be like this, it’ll only get worse. I’m certain Lucifer will kill me, I’m closer to an angel now than I’ve ever been. I can feel it, the power coursing through me. Just touching my sword again.” He stoped a moment to chuckle softly as he ran his fingertips along the hilt of the blade. “It’s a dream.” He looked to her. “A dream I had long ago to stop this from happening. I was powerless in the matter. Now, something can be done. This apocalypse? It can be turned around. We’ve all the keys, all the tools. You just have to trust that I won’t let harm befall you.” Vox finished off his tea and set the empty mug in the sink. “Otherwise we continue on in the dread that is this world.” He shrugged. “Makes no difference to me, I’ll outlive your human counterparts.” He walked off then, walking to the back bedroom.
Ari took in a breath and let it out slowly. “Well if he didn’t convince you, I don’t know what will.” She let out a half hearted laugh. “Krysta, you have more in your hand of cards than you seem to realize.” She nodded before she took a sip from her wine glass. She stepped over to the balcony window and looked out over the city. The demoness was silent now as she closed her eyes and imagined what the world would be like. If they destroyed all of the corrupt angels. If they restored the human world and drove the demons back to hell. “Without you, sadly, this will never happen. Things will stay exactly how they are, until it gets worse.” She nearly whispered this part as she opened her emerald eyes. “But you know that. You’ve seen it over the past year how quickly things deteriorated. Just imagine when Lucifer kills all of the resistance forces, when there are no humans left. What will the world be like then? Will his holiness create humans once again? The very thing that he has fought to keep in balance...a race of beings that will eternally fight over small things that the angels and demons would never truly understand." She shook her head. "I don't think I want to live to see that day, Krysta..." Her eyes finally locked on Krysta again. "Do you?"

Listening to Vox she wasn't sure if she should feel guilty or not. She hadn't lost her fight. She would kill any demon given the proper chance, but she was also very disheartened about her life after the apocalypse. Until this point she was nothing more than a convenient tool for Vox and Ari to use to their own ends, now there was a lot more riding on her shoulders. Of course Vox was correct that only a short while ago she would have gladly killed him, or gravely injured those that ruined her chances at getting information. He wasn't wrong about anything that he said. Neither was Ari. Both had very good point of argument.
When Ari walked out to the balcony Krysta followed after her and sighed when the demoness looked back at her. "No one can ever find out about this apparent heritage, ever." She told Ari in a serious tone. "Not even after the apocalypse. I don't want any angels, demons or humans to know anything about me. As far as everyone else in the world is concerned I'm human 100%." She glanced around to see if Vox was within earshot and when she didn't see him she stepped close to Ari. "Vox is motivated like you wanted and even has a little extra punch now. I don't have to continue this facade and sleep in his bed. You'll get your wings and our deal will be done." Her tone wasn't harsh but she wasn't overly friendly either.
Turning away from Ari she went back inside and to the bedroom to find a different set of clothes. Something less revealing and more comfortable. Of course it was borrowed but it was better than the slightly bloody corset. She wore a pair of black jean shorts and a plain red tank top with a black leather vest she found. She also pulled her hair back and up into a ponytail to get it out of her face, and the last thing was to check over the shoes to make sure there was no blood on them then put them back on.
She remembered that just outside the penthouse, without having to scan her finger, there was a bar. Surely none of the vampires would be stupid enough to try anything with Vox only a short distance away, and she wanted something a bit stronger than the wine Ari had bought. She still had her knife tucked away on the small of her back and then headed out to the rooftop bar. There were several other beings there, she doubted any of them were human, but when she approached the bar she sat down on one of the stool and ordered a scotch on the rocks on Vox's tab. The man shrugged and served her the drink.

Ari watched as Krysta walked from the home, she sipped from her wine and took in a deep breath. Her eyes moved back over the landscape of the city. She looked over the dilapidated signs, the broken buildings from the raids in the early days of the apocalypse. “Where is she?” Vox asked from behind Ari.
The demoness didn’t turn her head, she continued looking over the cityscape. “She walked out the front door, there are only a few places within the building that she can get without a biometric scan...” Ari turned as she heard Vox’s foot strikes leading away from her. “Vox.” She spoke as she watched him exit as well. Ari pressed her lips together in a flat line, the smirk was gone from her lips. When things were supposed to get better it seemed that they had only taken a turn for the worse.
**
“Well, well...” A voice came from next to Krysta. “You’re that human that Vox has, aren’t you?” He chuckled, he held his own glass of hard liquor in his hands. He had an almost dirty appearance to him, his face held scraggly stubble, his hair was rough, his eyes looked almost black. He moved slightly, “You want to get away from that prick and have some real fun?” He grinned, his teeth were yellowing. He chuckled as he moved a bit closer to her. “You see...” He glanced around to the other demons that were drinking and carrying on. “I’m not so sure you have a choice.” He leaned in to whisper in her ear. “Vox isn’t here to save you, now is he?” He snickered as he leaned back and looked to her. Almost prideful in a way, like he’d conquered her, most humans would have been trembling at the sight of a demon. The demon turned when he heard the doors to the rooftop bar open and a frown crossed over his expression. “Well...another time then.” He spoke as he slipped from the stool next to Krysta and moved to mingle in the crowd.
Vox walked up to her side, his arms were crossed over his chest. He looked to her a long moment, his expression was hard to read as he let out a sigh. As his lips parted to speak a demon rushed onto the rooftop. Vox drew his brows together as his attention was diverted from Ari to the breathless demon. “I’ve grave news!” The demon exclaimed as he moved toward the center of the rooftop. “Fuller was slain by an angel’s blade, in the middle of the streets.” He looked around as whispers rose from the crowd of demons. “His men were killed as well, in brutal fashions.” His eyes fell upon Vox whom was leaning against the bar with his elbows now. His body was close to Krysta, as if he was anticipating something. “You don’t look very surprised, Vox.” The demon spoke as he walked toward the two.
Vox’s eyes turned red as he gazed to the demon. He stood a head taller than the man as he looked down to him with a sneer. “Oh, is that right?” He snarled. “Perhaps it is because Fuller was reckless. It was bound to happen one day or another. He doesn’t give a damn who he kills, he wanders the streets like a tyrant. So no, I’m not surprised.”
The demon backed away a few steps then. A few other demons pushed against him. “You should be outraged, one of our kin is dead.”
“Around here.” Vox spoke as he tilted his head slightly. “None of the demons that stand around you liked Fuller. He was nothing more than a tyrant.” He stepped forward and grabbed the demon by the front of his shirt. “Actually. You look like one of his men. You are, aren’t you?” His voice became a growl as he pushed the man backwards easily across the rooftop. The demon cheered in response, others clinked glasses. “Well?” Vox asked as he pressed the man’s back against the railing of the rooftop.
“I saw you.” He whispered. “With that human.” He smirked as he looked up to Vox. “She held the angel blade.” He didn’t break his gaze. “Ari missed, when she shot me.” He chuckled. “You’re toting around a demon hunter, aren’t you Vox? Boy Lucifer would kill to hear that. He’d kill you, that is.”
That was all it took. Vox moved his grip to the man’s neck and his hand squeezed. “You’re full of ideas, aren’t you?” He snarled. “Fuller’s scum at its finest.” He pulled his pistol from his thigh and pressed it deep into the man’s jaw. “Fuller isn’t around anymore, so this little escapade.” He clicked his tongue. “Not amusing in the least.” He pulled the trigger then before he shoved the body over the side of the rooftop. The demons that were drinking upon the rooftop cheered and chuckled as the body plummeted toward the empty streets below. Vox looked up, his eyes were still red as he looked to the demons that surrounded him. He looked to them a long moment before he cracked a grin. “I’m sure we are all glad Fuller is gone.” He chuckled, the other demons roared in agreement. How Fuller had risen to the top was beyond Vox. The demon had always been a tyrant. He was what gave most demons the name that they had. He was the true representation of the word demon.
Vox then stepped forward toward the bar where he crossed his arms as he approached Krysta. He looked over her for a moment before he slipped onto the barstool next to her. His eyes had returned to the crystal blue color, “Krysta.” He spoke his voice soft. He glanced to see the bartender was at the other end of the bar talking to another demon. “This isn’t really the safest place for you to run off to without Ari or myself.” He turned and looked out over the crowd of demons. “That demon saw what happened.” He spoke and then he fell silent.
“What can I get you boss?” The barkeep asked as he approached.
Vox nodded and looked to Krysta’s glass. “Get her another round and I’ll take my regular.” He spoke before he turned his attention back to Krysta. He then turned and leaned forward over the top of the glass that was slid across the bar toward him. His jaw was tight as he tried to think of what to say to Krysta. Though he stayed silent as he lifted his glass to his lips and took a long drink from the whiskey sour.

Kyrsta wanted to sit in peace and have a drink or two to take the edge off her nerves, but as usual when she went to a bar before the demons took over another patron refused to let that happen. As the less than appealing looking demon approached her and began to ask if she was interested in having fun with him she cast him a disgusted glance. His threat of being able to force her to do his bidding fell flat as well as she simply stared at him with an almost bored expression. She had seen to much the last couple of days for a randy little demon asshole to rattle her. Before she could tell him off though Vox had appeared and scared the man off which she found to be a slight relief.
She was leaning against the bar with her drink in hand as Vox approached and she watched him out of the corner of her eye. She knew he would most likely have some sort of problem with her coming out here on her own. Before he could say anything though there was some commotion as yet another demon ran out onto the rooftop to deliver the news that Fuller had been killed. Krysta tensed and set her glass down in preparation of a brawl or something where she would need to defend herself, or even Vox. Luckily the man's little outburst did not have the affect he was hoping for and he was more or less laughed off.
Seeing Vox back him to the railing and kill him without remorse quickly reminded Krysta of just how far from human society she was. These guys just didn't operate with the same morals or laws that humans did. Though to be fair she would have killed him just as quickly given the chance. It took Krysta a moment to relax again as she saw the rest of the crowd cheer and return to their regular activities as Vox walked back to sit next to her at the bar and she turned to face forward once more. "Sorry." She replied to his warning about leaving without an escort.
"I needed a drink that was stronger than the wine Ari bought and you seemed preoccupied so I came to help myself. It's on your tab though." She told him and gave him a small smirk before taking another sip of her drink and handed the bartender her empty glass and pulling the fresh one towards her. "How are your ribs by the way?" She asked in a low yet casual voice so that they might not be overheard by others around them.

“Of course.” Vox replied, “As it should be, you’re under my protection aren’t you?” He half smirked. His eyes shifted to her when she asked about his ribs in a hushed tone. A smile curved up his lips slightly. “Worried about me, darling?” He asked, the smile grew at the end of the question as he lifted his glass and took a sip. “Hm, my ribs hurt, quite a bit.” He glanced out over the crowd of demons. He took in a breath, “Not nearly as much as they should though.” He smirked to her, his icy eyes fell upon her. “Thanks to you.” He took another swig of his whiskey. “You know I’ve got plenty of good liquor in the cabinet above the refrigerator.” He shrugged. “Stronger than this watered down drink.” He raised a brow as he looked to her. “It’s much safer too.” He added at the end before he finished his glass. “Come along, hm?” He stood before her, a smile upon his lips. “Let’s get you back where it’s safe. A human amongst several drunk demons isn’t really a great idea.” He leaned in close, his lips next to her ear. “Even though you know how to handle yourself.” He smirked to her playfully then.
“Voxmir.” A voice spoke, a woman. The clicking of heels could be heard as the woman approached. She wore a black cocktail dress, she had blonde hair that was pulled up in an updo that only seemed to help accent her features. “Well, that was quite the show.” She smiled as she stepped up to him. Vox parted his lips to speak but her finger pressed to his lips. “Give me a minute.” She smiled to him. “Now, I’ve a question for you, Vox.” She gazed into his eyes. “I could see the change in your appearance from across the room, how did you manage to get your lovely blue eyes back? I remember staring into those eyes when you still had your wings.” She chuckled softly, her finger still pressed against his lips. She was dangerously close to him. Her eyes moved to Krysta and a curious gaze overtook her, “Hm, a human among demons that doesn’t seem to be afraid. How cute.” She ran her fingertips down Vox’s chest as she stepped to Krysta’s side. “Now why wouldn’t you be afraid?” She asked as she took Krysta’s drink and finished it off. She wrinkled her nose. “Perhaps you’ve had one too many.” She chuckled.
“That’s enough Delilah.” Vox growled as he stepped between the two.
The beautiful blonde demon chuckled as she looked up to him, “Oh I see.” She raised a brow. “Don’t you want to share your human with us?” She looked up to Vox. “You were never one for sharing.” She shrugged and her arm snaked around his middle. She pulled him in close and a groan came from Vox’s lips. “Oh….what’s that?” She questioned as she stared into the pained expression on his face. “I overheard that you were with Fuller when he died Vox. Don’t you wonder how many other demons know that you are galavanting around with a demon hunter?” She spoke in a hushed tone. Vox scowled at her his eyes darkened. “There’s my demon.” She reached up and cupped his cheek. “Now then.” She looked to Krysta. “Why don’t we go back to your place?” She asked with a pleasant smile as she clutched onto Vox’s broken ribs. He nearly buckled forward as he instinctively gripped onto her to keep from falling. “Tell her to come, Voxmir.”
Vox grit his teeth. “We are leaving.” He looked to Krysta, “Come on.” He grit his teeth as Delilah led him away.
She pushed him ahead of her and she glanced back to Krysta. “You too.” She ordered and pointed ahead. Delilah smirked as she led them back to the apartment. “So, you know what you have, Vox?” She questioned. “Nephilim.” She spoke as she stood at the doorway to his home and followed them inside. “What a rare find.” She chuckled as she locked the door behind her. “Now...” She elbowed Vox in the side harshly which dropped him to his knees. “You’ll be giving me some of your blood. I want what he has. I can see it. It’s just like the books. A demon gets Nephilim blood and regains angelic traits.” She chuckled, she pulled a pistol from her thigh and aimed it at Krysta. “You’ve no choice here.”
