When he guessed that Sabra went out to the clubs she scrunched up her nose in distaste. Even if she wasn't Echo she wouldn't waste her time in such places. She knew the types of crowds that gathered there and had seen far to many police reports from fun nights gone wrong to enjoy going out on the town like that. It was why she preferred her little quiet place over a roaring night club. "Oh, so you think I'm crazy huh?" She asked teasingly with a giggle before taking another sip of her beer and setting down the empty glass. Though when he admitted his interest in her she couldn't hold his gaze as she felt her cheeks grow warm and she reached for a chip with dip to distract herself.
"What do you mean you're not exciting? You forget our little ride along the other day? Your career makes you plenty of exciting. I don't know of anyone that could handle more excitement than that. It's good you know how to unwind and relax after everything you've seen out on the streets." Sabra had to sit back in her chair as the waitress finally brought out their food and set each plate in front of each of them, and she had brought Sabra another drink as well. "Here you go. Enjoy and if you need anything else just let me know." The waitress said with a smile before turning to leave them alone once more.
With her plate in front of her Sabra sat up straight in her chair and gently tore one of the cut slices of quesadilla. "Though I think you on vacation may be a different story. Sky diving, parasailing, or swimming with sharks. Now that I could see." Sabra said before blowing on her food to help cool it as to not burn her mouth.

Sebastian let out a chuckle and shook his head. Though he did notice her cheeks tint pink. He leaned forward a bit more his eyes watching her, a smirk upon his lips. He put the image of her blushing in the back of his mind for now. “I suppose. Not to sound like an egotistical ass...my days run together. There is so much crime in this city that any given day can end up like our ride yesterday.” He shook his head slightly. “At first it was incredibly exciting. But as the crime gets worse, more supers with ridiculous powers that choose the dark side...the more my job requires me to put my life on the line. The more that I risk my life in order to keep those around me alive. Because that is the oath that I swore into.” He placed his hand on his chest and then chuckled. “I imagine that makes me sound like an idiot, doesn’t it? A jerk really.” He finished his second beer and leaned back slightly. Thinking. “To be honest Sabra, it scares me sometimes, but it has to be done. If I hadn’t rushed into that building yesterday Lopez would be dead.”
It was then that the waitress had brought their food to the table. “Another drink please.” He spoke with a warm smile before he turned his attention back to Sabra. He then cracked a smile, “Me on vacation?” He laughed heartily. “I wouldn’t know what one is.” He nodded to the waitress when she brought his drink over. He ate a fry and then tilted his head slightly. “The precinct has been so short staffed the entire time that I’ve been on that I get an extra day off here and there but I’ve never been lucky enough to get a vacation. Vacations are what the chief gets.” He laughed then and shook his head. “Especially since I have become a lieutenant. Vacation is a joke. I get a bonus at the end of the year each year. Want to know what it is? My vacation hours that I can’t use.” He chuckled and shook his head before he lifted his burger into his hands. “What about you, Sabra? What do you do on vacation? Might I live vicariously through you?” He smiled before he took a bit of his burger.

As Sebastian spoke about his lack of R&R and how dangerous the streets had become Sabra's smile faded slightly as she dipped her quesadilla in some sour cream. "Maybe the heroes will be able to catch up eventually. Stop those with powers that are harassing the city. I just wish they wouldn't take so long to catch the Jackal and the others." Her tone had dropped and lost its playfulness for a moment. People like Sebastian were in danger because she and the others couldn't stop the villains that had emerged. It made her feel a little guilty for taking a night off actually, just for a bit of flirting and a beer or two.
When he in turn asked about her vacation her smile returned as she shook her head. "I, uh, I can't remember the last time I took an actual vacation." She admitted a bit sheepishly. "Normally I just save the time for an extended weekend when my Mom needs help with something or the holidays. I don't really get to go out and be a tourist." She exhaled through her nose and chuckled a bit. "Maybe we should invest in taking some time off for ourselves. Get out of town for a bit and just forget about the city and its crime, hmm?" The way she made her statement was unclear as to if she meant for them to go together or just as a general statement, and she meant it to be like that. To leave the possibility but not directly give the suggestion.
As she finished her meal she pushed her plate back slightly and picked up her drink to finish off her third tallboy. "I forget just how strong these are." She said with a giggle and sat her glass back down, knocking the edge of her plate with the glass and nearly knocking a few things over. "Damnit, there I go again. I swear I'm like a bull in a china shop."

Sebastian smirked as she spoke about her lack of vacation as well. The way she delivered the line about how they should go somewhere to make use of it cause him to think. Had she meant she wanted him to vacation with her? He finished off his burger as she spoke. He then laughed at her as she clinked her drink against the plate, he’d reached forward and grasped her hand to help her steady the items that she nearly knocked over. His hand lingered over hers for a moment, his eyes looked to hers and his cheeks might have gotten a bit more pink. He leaned back taking his hands from hers then and finished off his drink. He set his glass down heavily and laughed again. He was rather drunk at this point. Three of those very strong beers. “You’re telling me. I couldn’t tell you the last time I drank.” He smiles to her. “So we should go on vacation huh?” He asked with a quirky smile.
He leaned back in his seat, “I could find some adventure to go on that even a book worm would enjoy.” He chuckled and then looked up as the waitress came back.
She smiled to him as she gathered the plates. “Is there anything else I can bring you two?” She looked to Sabra then.
Sebastian looked to Sabra a smirk on his lips. He wanted to ask the waitress how many time Sabra really came to this place. But he refrained. “Just the check.” He smiled to the waitress before he looked back to Sabra. He leaned forward and gazed into her eyes as he seemed to contemplate something. He wanted to tell her about the crush he’d had on her. Yet. He kept himself quiet. “If you could choose anything. What would you do on the perfect vacation?” He asked with a warm smile.

When Sebastian asked for the check she eyed him for a moment. She was going to have to grab the check before him if she wanted to pay like she had said. She could see him trying to sneak his own credit card or cash into the billfold if she wasn't paying attention. Though as he grabbed her hand to help steady her before she knocked everything over she blushed once more. His hand was warm, and it gave her a sense of comfort that she wasn't expecting. Though the sensation didn't last long before he pulled his hand back once more.
"The perfect vacation?" She thought about that for a moment before answering. "A cruise would be nice. Get away from all the problems on land and just be pampered for a few days. Go swimming with some dolphins maybe and have drinks with little umbrellas in them." She shrugged and chuckled a bit. "What about you? What sounds fun?" Just as she posed her question the waitress brought the check to the table and Sabra was quick to grab it. "Thank you." She told the woman and glanced at the receipt before pulling out her debit card and handing it back to the waitress. "I told you I'd pay tonight." She said with a triumphant smirk.

Sebastian smiled as he relaxed into his seat, the alcohol taking full effect. He chuckled to her dream vacation idea. “That sounds incredibly relaxing. I think I would lounge on the deck, get a tan.” He leaned his head back as if to pretend to be laying on a beach chair. He then watched as she quickly slipped her card into place. “I won’t fight you for it. That just means that next time I get to pay.” He grinned playfully. “If you allow another time. I’m sure you’re missing your books right now.” He winked then before he seemed to contemplate his answer. “Me?” He asked. “I would enjoy a simple mountain retreat. A secluded cabin. A fire pit to light each night. A grill to cook up fresh caught trout from the stream. Oh, and hiking trails.” He nodded. “That would be fun, wouldn’t it? It would be so quiet. Relaxing. Possibly even romantic if I had someone to drag along with me.” He watched her a moment, as if he wanted to see if she was paying attention or showing any interest at all. “Have you ever been fishing?” There was a smile upon his lips as if he knew her answer already. “Or hiking in the mountains?”
He let out a laugh then. “I’m not sure that would be your cup of tea. Would it?” He sighed softly as he shifted his weight back once again. He bit his lip slightly, he was nervous. Perhaps he’d gone too far in calling the retreat romantic. Or maybe he’d lost her all together. He almost wondered if she would shy away from him now. He drew his brows together slightly as if he was thinking of a way to back peddle his words. There really wasn’t any way for him to take the words back and now he feared that he made things awkward between them. His mind was racing quickly as his phone rang, to save him. He looked to Sabra a moment, a look in his eyes that seemed apologetic. He pulled his phone from his jacket pocket and lifted it to look to see who the caller was. “Just a minute.” He spoke as he nodded to her and stood. He slipped from the table quickly and made his way outside into the cold. “Hello?” He asked. It was Ira on the other end.
“Fairing well after that beating yesterday?” Ira questioned with a chuckle.
“Not entirely, a few beers certainly helped me along.” Sebastian’s tone changed, his brows tucked together with irritation. Ira called from a burner phone that changed with each day, each minute he’d decided long ago.
“Hm, well. How long of a recovery will you be needing? I’m going to need you front and center for something big tomorrow. Enjoy your night off.” He snickered and the phone clicked as he hung up.
Sebastian drew in a breath as he looked to the phone, the unknown caller number that showed up. He grit his teeth slightly before he shook it from his mind. He was far to drunk to care right now about Ira. Not when Sabra was with him. He’d been trying for too long to get up the courage to ask her out and here she was. He stepped back inside and walked over to the table a smile upon his lips. “Just work reminding me of the ceremony tomorrow. No big deal.” He smiled as he looked across the table to her. “Now what else did you have planned for the evening? I’m in not shape to drive.” He laughed playfully.

Sabra listened to his answer of a dream vacation with interest. It was different than hers, but sounded just as relaxing. Though when he mentioned it being romantic she raised an eyebrow with curiosity. Normally when someone made such a suggestion they already had someone in mind for who they would want to take with them. This thought caused a series of different emotions to fly through Sabra's mind. At first she wondered if he was insinuating that he would take her on such a romantic outing to which her heart fluttered with excitement, but then she remembered her duty as Echo and unless she felt the other heroes could pick up her slack while she was gone she wasn't sure she would be able to relax. Then there was the possibility that he was talking about someone else which was more than a little disappointing. She couldn't help but to think back to the nurse at the hospital once more, but tried to quickly shrug off the idea.
Before she could answer his follow up questions she heard the phone ring and sat back in her seat as she nodded to him as he excused himself to accept the call. While he was gone she sighed and brushed her hair out of her face. "So are you two on a date or what?" She heard the waitress ask as she approached the table once more.
Sabra smiled and shook her head. "Not really. Just friends from work I think." The waitress was a friend, well as much as she could call anyone in her life a friend at the time.
"You think? Oh girl, if I had a man looking at me the way he looks at you I'd jump on that as soon as I got the chance." She replied.
Sabra gave the waitress a confused look for a moment but before she could retort the woman walked away and Sebastian came back to the table. "Really? The Chief really wants to make sure you don't miss it, huh? He'd probably flip a lid if he knew who you were out with tonight." She laughed at the thought of the Chief's expression upon seeing his star officer and most despite filing clerk in a semi-intimate setting such as this. "I'm not sure. I hadn't really made plans past this." She leaned on the table a bit as she ran some ideas through her mind and scanned the bar for any sort of inspiration. When she looked at the jukebox she smiled and looked back to Sebastian. "Can you dance?"

Sebastian chuckled and shook his head. “He makes sure to remind me every time.” He shrugged and leaned back in his chair. He watched her a moment as she seemed to try to come up with an answer. He too looked to the jukebox and a grin turned up his lips. “Not normally.” He stood from his chair and offered her his hand. “But, I think I can make an exception.” He winked to her before he pulled her from the chair. He led her over to the floor where a few others danced about. He led her over to the machine and he clicked through a few of the songs before he pulled out his wallet. He inserted a few dollars and made a selection. “Just follow my lead. I’ll keep you on your feet.” He wrapped his arm around her waist playfully as he led her onto the dance floor. A few of the patrons looked to the two with smiles. The waitress even looked to the two.
Sebastian kept his arm around her waist as the song began, it was one that would be easy to dance to and he knew a dance to two. “Just follow my steps, okay?” He took her arms and lifted them up around his neck before he placed his other hand upon her waist. He led her, stepping forward and then back. He grinned as he did so. He moved carefully giving her plenty of lead so he wouldn’t cause her to trip. A few times he stumbled simply because of the amount of alcohol he’d had, though when he’d do this he’d pull Sabra closer. When the song finished he stood with his hands still on her hips his eyes gazed into hers. “How was that?” He asked with a chuckle. “You weren’t too bad.” He winked.

His mention of her being clumsy again after pulling her out onto the floor almost made her roll her eyes and regret starting that rumor. However, as she felt his hand upon her waist and he pulled her close as the song started she was glad she had started it. Her hands rested against the back of his neck as they moved around the dance floor, only stumbling a few times. Even when they stumbled she found she wasn't the slightest bit embarrassed. In fact there were a couple of times where she purposely miss-stepped in order to get closer to him once more as he tightened his grip on her each time.
"It was fun." She told him with a smile as she looked back up at him with her arms still around him. Now it felt like a date and with them being so close to each other it was hard to resist leaning in just a little bit closer. "Plus I had a good partner." She smiled and just as she was about to speak someone burst into the bar from the outside.
"Turn on the news!" The man yelled. "Atomic just stopped a high speed chase!" Atomic was another one of the hero supers in town. He had become very prevalent over the last year or so.
The distraction was enough to break the near trance like state Sabra had been in and she stepped back from Sebastian and gave him a sheepish grin with a light pink coloring her cheeks.

Sebastian gazed into her eyes as his hands remained on her waist. He chuckled to her compliment. “I’m alright.” He shrugged the compliment. “Just, a few things I’ve picked up here and there.” He laughed lightly. He realized just how close they were then. His smile broadened as he drew in a breath to speak. Though it was cut short by the man that busted through the doors. Sebastian raised a brow slightly as everyone clamored to look at the television. He felt Sabra pull from his arms and he glanced to her, a shy smile upon his lips as well as he noticed the blush on her cheeks. He looked up to the television as the reporter began to speak about the high speed chase. He watched as Atomic swooped in with his speed. He looked around to the patrons as they cheered for the hero.
“All the supers should die!” A man threw his bottle at the television. “They are all villains in my book!” He snarled over the sound of the breaking glass.
This of course wasn’t taken well by many of the others. Other patrons rushed the man yelling at him. The man only yelled back and within seconds fists were raised into the air. Sebastian jumped forward and pulled the man from the tussle. “That’s enough!” He called out, the rest of the men stopped in the midst of the fight. He held him by the back of his shirt. The man slammed his fist against Sebastian’s ribs, right where Echo had hit him. He groaned as he buckled and his grip loosened. The man then kicked him in his opposite side harshly just before the bouncer could make it to the fight. The bouncer lifted the man up and tossed him out into the cold easily.
Sebastian stood as another man lifted him with a quick hand. “Thanks.” Sebastian groaned. He held his hand over his side. If that wasn’t enough to sober him up. He didn’t know what was. He walked over to Sabra and looked to her with a smile. “That Atomic guy is all show. What do you think?” He asked as he looked up to the television that had beer running down the front of the protective case. “I think the only real hero in this city is Echo.” He smirked and laughed. He then groaned as he felt the bruising. He forced a smile back on his face. “Maybe that wasn’t my best idea...” He groaned as he looked to her. “Should I take you home?” He asked. He didn’t want to. This night was one of the best nights he’d had in a long time. But, he couldn’t tell her that. He felt he’d chase her away if he said something of the like. “Or?” He asked with a raised brow, as if he wanted her to suggest something.

The fight was unexpected to say the least. Atomic had managed to catch the car without any residual damage to the area around. Which was more than she could say for herself in a lot of situations as Echo. Though as Sebastian jumped into the fray to try and break things up she reached to try and stop him just a little too late. She saw the solid hit the man got on Sebastian's ribs and winced as she knew it probably didn't feel the greatest. Though luckily the bouncers were quick to intervene after that.
When he came back over to her she gave him a bit of a worried look. "Yeah, maybe we should call it a night if you're gonna be jumping into fights." She chuckled a bit and reached to touch his arm. "Well, if you're not wanting to go home yet we can go back to my place for some wine. Shouldn't be anyone hating on the supers to cause bar fights there." As soon as the offer came out of her mouth she wished she could take them back. It was a rather forward thing to invite him back to her place. Though she didn't mean anything by it. She just wasn't quite ready to head home and crawl into bed. "I'm sure I've got some movies or something to watch as well."
"Also, Echo is cool and all but I don't know if I'd call her the best hero in the city." She made far to many mistakes to be called the best, but she was flattered that Sebastian thought so highly of her.

Sebastian looked to her hand upon his arm, a smile curved up his lips. He chuckled and shook his head. “The man was drunk. He probably didn’t even know what he was saying. Who knows, maybe something happened with a super that we don’t know about? I mean...some of their powers are pretty crazy right?” He shrugged slightly. When she extended the offer he only smiled more. “Wine? Hm.” He stepped forward slightly. Though he paused then. He could almost sense she’d become uncomfortable before she made the comment about Echo. "Well, in my eyes she does a good job. She saved the mayor's daughter right? That's an A+ in my book." He walked over to the chair and grabbed his jacket. “You have to wear this though, I don’t want you getting cold.” He spoke as he slipped the jacket over her shoulders again. “I’ll go grab the jeep, give me a few minutes and I’ll be out front. Then you don’t have to walk in the cold.” His hand touched hers just before he rushed out the door. He didn’t give her a chance to argue with him. He made his way through the streets, snow had begun to fall. He looked up to the flakes as they gusted through the skies. He shivered as he rushed to his jeep. At least they were only a few blocks away.
He climbed into the jeep and started the engine. It rumbled to life and he set the heat on high. He came around the block and paused in front of the bar. He pulled over to the open curb and climbed out of the jeep to help Sabra into the warmth. “There we are.” He smiled as he helped her up. He then rushed around to his side before he climbed in. “So, movies huh?” He smirked to her. He drove through the snow as it began to come down more heavily. He shivered slightly which only reminded him of the bruising on his ribs from Echo and now the angry man from the bar. Soon enough they were at her home. He paused a moment and looked to her. “Are you sure you’re alright with me coming in?” He asked as he looked to her. “I understand if you’re not...I don’t want you to be uncomfortable...” He spoke his voice took on a serious tone.

Sabra shook her head at Sebastian as he insisted that she both wear his jacket and allow him to walk and get the jeep in the snow by himself. She found it to be very unnecessary but also very sweet so she simply waited for him by the door and kept a look out for when he pulled up in his jeep. As she saw him approaching the curb she went and and met him and allowed him to help her up in to the jeep. "Your parents must be very proud of how you treat women." She commented with a giggle as she buckled her seat belt.
"Why would I be uncomfortable?" She questioned. Nervous - yes. Uncomfortable - no. However she wasn't willing to let something as silly as a small crush on him interrupt their fun evening. They could both use a little time to unwind and wine with a good comedy or action thriller was the perfect way in her opinion. "As long as you can behave yourself, Sergeant, I think we'll be ok." She teased him and gave him a wink before getting out of the warm jeep and out into the cold once more. " Hurrying to get her keys out of her pocket she quickly unlocked the door and stepped inside the heated apartment. "Jesus, it got cold fast." She commented as she shivered slightly before taking his jacket off and hanging it on one of the hooks she had mounted on the wall next to the door. "Make yourself at home." She motioned for him to enter the living room while she put her things on the entry way table. Sabra's apartment was a bit minimal. There weren't any lavish decorations or bright colors, but just a comfortable amount of furniture and a few throw blankets hanging off the back of the couch. She kept very little possessions in case she felt she needed to move if she thought she had been discovered as Echo. "What kind of wine do you like? Sweet or dry?" She asked as she walked to the kitchen and got a couple of wine glasses out of the cabinet.

Sebastian looked to her with a smile and shrugged, “I didn’t want to impose on you. That’s all.” He then gave a smirk when she told him to behave himself. “Me? Behave myself.” He laughed as he climbed from the jeep and walked behind her. “I haven’t the slightest idea of the meaning of that word.” He chuckled and then looked to the cloud of air that came from his mouth as he spoke. Her comment was correct, it was absolutely freezing cold. “Yes, that it did.” He agreed as he followed her inside her apartment.
He too shivered as he glanced around the bare apartment. He walked into the living room as she had motioned. His eyes looked around to the lack of decorations...the lack of bright colors. “Ah just surprise me, so long as it is a good wine to enjoy on its own.” He spoke as he moved to the couch and sat down. His eyes once again glanced around the room, maybe she just moved? He wondered in his mind about this, pondering the thought. But wouldn’t there be pictures leaning against the wall? A box or two here or there? Shifted slightly, his body was beginning to ache. He needed to take a bit of the pain medication, but he knew better than to do that while drinking alcohol. “You have a nice place.” He spoke as he stood and followed her toward the kitchen. “Very minimalist. I wouldn’t have pegged you for the type.” He smiled as he leaned against the counter and watched her. He bit his lower lip, once again he found himself smiling as he looked to her. He couldn’t help it. It was the reason he brought her coffee each morning. The crush he’d had on her was more than any he’d had on the girls that flung themselves at him simply because he was a decorated officer. No, he liked that about Sabra. Then again...he doubted she felt the same toward him. Why would she? He shifted slightly as the thoughts went through his mind. “What sort of movies do you like, Sabra?” He asked curiously.

She nodded when he gave her free reign on choosing what kind of wine to serve him. She would choose her favorite then. A sweet red that she had discovered a while back, cheap and good which was the best of combinations. "Thanks, I just never knew how to decorate much and rather than filling the place with a bunch of junk I kept it simple." She shrugged after pulling out a bottle of wine from her fridge. Pouring them each a glass she glanced up to Sebastian as he asked what sort of movies she enjoyed. "I like scifi films actually. Monsters and aliens are always fun to watch. Or action thrillers. Something that isn't going to put me to sleep." She smiled as she handed him the glass of wine.
"What about you? Have any favorites?" She walked around to head back into the living room, after putting the cork back into the bottle, and sipped from her glass as she made her way to the couch. "We can watch whatever you like. I've got streaming services and a selection of DVDs." She motioned to the collection she kept in the slot underneath her TV on the entertainment center. "You are free to pick since you're my guest." She smiled and sat down on the left side of the couch and kicked off her shoes so that she could tuck her legs underneath her.
