“Legends often have some form of truth hidden within the stories that have been twisted over centuries of being told beside the fire.” Adelaide smirked to him a bit then, the confusion in her mind was slowly melting away. She should have been afraid. She should have run. Would he have let her run? She didn’t imagine he would harm her, if he wanted to that is exactly what he would have done. He had every chance to cause her harm. Then again perhaps she hadn’t run because of the haze in her mind. “Protection…” She nodded slightly. Her mind began to churn. Was Lilian aware of the vampire society? Is that what she did? Did she send the girls off to these familiar parties in hopes that they would find a suitable vampire to protect them and give them a home? A look of deep thought washed over her expression as she realized that this could have been the case. Lilian seemed very excited to have found the invitation and she insisted that Adelaide must go. She’d practically forced her into the idea.
Adelaide drew in a breath as her eyes moved to Ivan as he spoke of the other two vampires that had attacked her. When he rose from where he sat she felt her heart leap within her chest. The fear was there. That was for certain. She gazed up to him and nearly held her breath as he brushed his fingertips against the side of her face to brush her hair behind her ear. Her eyes never left his, she swallowed slightly. “I’m…I’m um sorry you lose her…she must have been very dear to you.” She finally choked the words out her voice was soft. “That party seemed to be full of plenty of women that would have been interested in such a position…” Her eyes were still locked on his, her thumb brushed about upon the bottle that she held close to her chest. The thin plastic clicked slightly. “Do you know Lilian Stone?” She asked then, she couldn’t shake the feeling that Lilian was involved in the vampire community. “Have you heard of her name?” She asked with a curiosity in her eyes. She didn’t shy away from his hungry gaze though her heart did beat quickly within her chest.

"Mmm, yes there were plenty of potential familiars there, but you were the only human to approach me." He smirked to himself as he continued to study her expression for a moment. When she asked about Ms. Stone he gave a small smile. "I am very old Adelaide. I've lived long enough to see the human wars play out through every possible conclusion." He turned his gaze away from her and turned his back to her to walk back towards the couch. "Even during times of peace there are those who thrive off of the lives of others, and I'm not talking about vampires."
Once he was seated he gave a short sigh and gestured for her to sit with him as he offered her a small, polite smile. "Ms. Stone is a person who though does not subscribe to being a familiar works with my kind in order to supply familiars in a way that gives them a choice as it were. Or at least the illusion of such a choice." He lifted an eyebrow as a thought struck him then gave a soft shrug. "She only sends people to high society parties, like the one where we met, and never to the lower dregs where familiars are used in all sorts of other nefarious ways."
He leaned back against the couch and closed his eyes for a moment. "If that shocks or angers you, I'm not sure what your relationship with this woman is, but at least she didn't sell you to the lowest bidder." He opened his eyes once more and slid his gaze over to land on Adelaide once more. "I'm sure this is a lot for you to take in."

“You did have a brooding look about you.” Adelaide spoke, her eyes watched him. Her expression was a mixture of concern, fear, and oddly enough curiosity. When he smiled after she’d questioned about Lilian a pit grew in her stomach. Of course Lilian was involved. Of course she gave Adelaide up to the vampires. How much were they paying her for such a service? It was an easy community to take young women from….orphans that held no home, no family, no ties…it was simple to make them disappear.
Adelaide’s hazel hues did not pull from the vampire as he sat upon the couch once again, her thumb clicked at the bottle almost feverishly now. Nervous. Her heart felt as though it would leap from her throat. She felt nauseous. Unearthing the thought that Lilian had sold her away, it was painful. Lilian was her friend. She’d done so much for the woman ever since she was a child. The feeling of betrayal was something that Adelaide had truly yet to feel. It sank within her chest. Her eyes lowered to the floor as a long breath escaped over her lips.
Adelaide closed her own eyes as she let the information sink in. Truly sink in. Her break shook slightly. “Should it not shock me?” She questioned, her voice a bit sharp. Her hues fell upon him again, her brows tugged together in anger. “The woman that I have given everything to. The woman responsible for me evening having air in my lungs. I look to her as a friend, as family…and…she would…” The words caught in her chest. Her eyes had become glassy. “I’m nothing but a transaction.” Her body quivered now. “She saw me as a beautiful woman that she could trade off…” Her jaw clenched slightly. It hurt. It was painful to speak the words.
“I have nothing.” She shook her head, a few tears rolled over her cheeks then. “I told you I do not have money. I grew up in the orphanage. When I became of age to leave, I chose to stay….to help the other orphans. To aid Lilian and the others that were so unfortunate to have no one in this world.” She stifled a sob. “At least she did not sell me to the slums yes. But does it make much of a difference?” She couldn’t hold back the sob this time. She clenched her jaw as she tried to fight back the tears, as she tried to fight back the sobs that escaped over her lips defying her control. “I am nothing…” She breathed as she continued to click her thumb against the bottle of water. “She betrayed my trust…” Her voice was barely a whisper. “I’ve looked up to her my entire life…I’ve done everything I can…and she sold me…like a package…” Adelaide shuddered as she fought against the sobs.

Ivan tilted his head to the side as Adelaide mentioned that her supposed friend had sold her off to someone. "Well, she didn't really sell you. I did not pay the woman for your company. You found your way to me on your own, and if someone else had paid for you then you wouldn't have been allowed to leave with anyone else but who had paid such a price. So I wouldn't be too harsh on your friend. She probably knows the sort of life you can have by being a familiar and was hoping you would find your way to it on your own." He gave a soft shrug.
"Your value is not nothing, as you say, I think your company is quite enjoyable. Even given the unusual circumstances that we find ourselves in. So don't sell yourself short. However as dawn draws closer perhaps we should find something to do with you for now, hmm? I am not able to withstand the rays of the sun, none of my kind can. If you'd like for me to return you to your home I will. If you'd like to stay here a day or two until you figure it out, you may do so as well. I won't pressure you into this life and I'll gladly return you to where ever it is you'd like to go."
Ivan swallowed and took a deep breath, finding his center once more. He would need to find some way to feed soon. Several days, even to an old and experienced vampires, was a long time to abstain while in the presence of someone who could technically offer fresh blood. "You must excuse me for a moment. I need to retrieve something from the kitchen." He explained as he rose up from the couch and began to walk towards a set of double doors that lead into a large, gourmet kitchen area.

Adelaide brushed tears from her cheeks as she gazed to Ivan, her brows were pulled together as she stifled another sob. She listened to his words, it made sense. If she was truly sold like an item he would not have been able to intercept her from the two vampires that meant her harm. She shuddered at the thought of what may have happened to her. She gave a slight nod. “Lilian…she’s always been there for me…a true friend when the world seems to be the darkest of spaces.” Her hazel hues searched his and she drew in a shaken breath.
A bit of a laugh and a sob came over her lips when he mentioned that she was enjoyable company. She shook her head. “Oh I’m a true riot, you should see me on my better days.” She brushed away a tear, though she had a bit of a smile now from his kind comment. She gazed to the windows of the home and drew in a breath. So it was true, just like the legends, vampires could not withstand the light. She bit at her lower lip slightly and her eyes turned to him once again as he stated that he had to grab something from the kitchen.
Adelaide waited for a few minutes, her thumb clicked against the water bottle. Her nerves calmed. The tears stopped flowing from her eyes. She brushed at her face, the makeup that Lilian had used on her was expensive, waterproof. Not even a bit of a smudge was left upon her cheeks from the hot tears that had rolled over her skin. She stood and cleared her throat slightly. She walked toward the double doors and pushed one of the doors open to the kitchen. Her eyes gazed about the glorious kitchen, her jaw slightly loose. “Oh wow.” She breathed. Her eyes then fell upon Ivan, “Forgive me if I was not supposed to follow…um…” She lifted the bottle of water. “I ran out of water.” She gave a bit of a sheepish smile. “I…would like to stay Ivan. I have no where to go. No true home…perhaps…Lilian was doing her best to help me in the way that she could and…perhaps I was lucky enough to be naïve enough to speak to you.” Another smile curved up her lips, she shifted slightly, nervous. She wasn't sure why exactly she was so nervous. Perhaps just the presence of a vampire was all it took to make her feel that way.

When Ivan reached the kitchen he removed a bag of blood from within and retrieved a bowl from the counter along with an opaque drinking container. He filled the bowl half way with hot water and poured the blood into the drinking container before placing it down in the bowl so that it would gradually warm itself. It was a method he did not enjoy but served it's purpose. As he waited for his "drink" to warm he leaned against the counter and glanced back towards the doors that lead to the living room.
It was dangerous letting a mortal into his world without knowing if she was going to commit to the secrecy that was necessary for the survival of his kind. If she went out and told others it could spell trouble for him and the others. There were still hunters out there that would love to have the information that Adelaide now possessed. For now he would just have to wait and see what she did and wanted to do.
Once Adelaide had made her way into the kitchen he looked up from his own drink, which he had just screwed the cap on and removed from the warm water. "You are welcome anywhere in my house, Ms. Adelaide." He told her and dumped the bowl of water into the sink before going to retrieve her empty bottle from her and tossing it in the trash. "Very well. I will have a room prepared for you. If you have any items needing to be retrieved from elsewhere we can collect them after the next sunset." He pulled a fresh water bottle from the fridge and walked to hand it to her before taking a drink of his own vessel.
"If... you'd like I can provide you with a different shirt and perhaps some shorts that you can sleep in. I don't believe formal gowns make for good sleep wear." He told her with a small smirk.

Adelaide gazed to the container that he held in his hands. She gave a small smile, as he greeted her. It was almost surreal. To be in such a place. She felt as though any moment she would wake from this strange dream. That, at any moment she would wake in her old lumpy bed in the orphanage, and she would be back to her life as she had always known it. She watched as he dumped a bowl of water into the sink, her expression was full of curiosity. “Oh…” She spoke as he took the bottle. “Thank you.” She gazed to him with a soft smile.
When he spoke that a room would be prepared for her, she raised her brows slightly, “You do not need to go through such trouble…the couch will do…I don’t want to burden you…” Such treatment wasn’t something she was used to. Even now, she did not have her own space. She took in a breath as she looked down to her formal gown, a chuckle came over her lips. “Oh…I would imagine not…” She lifted her hues to him. “Yes…please…I would be more comfortable that way…I…” She shook her head as another soft laugh came from her. “I am not one to dress in such fine clothing, to be honest. Lilian picked out this dress for me…and she did my hair and makeup.” She searched his eyes. She bit her lip slightly as if she wanted to ask something, though the words seemed to be stuck in her throat. Her eyes were upon the container in his hand. There were so many questions. Adelaide had always been one for questions. She asked, and asked, and asked until Lilian begged her to stop asking. When she was a young child, she asked questions about everything. That was what made her who she had become.
“I don’t have much.” Adelaide spoke as she broke the silence. “All of my things fit beneath my bed at the orphanage…I share a room with Lilian…I just have my trinkets that I work on…my things…um…” She let out another laugh as she looked to Ivan. “It would be quite silly to you I imagine.” She shook her head as she drew in a breath.
“Does it hurt?” The question blurted out. Adelaide immediately bit at her lower lip. Her curiosity would be the death of her one day, at least that is what Lilian had always warned her. Adelaide cleared her throat then. “S-sorry…I…” She shifted a bit uncomfortably. “I imagine it does….” She looked away from him, clearly nervous. She fumbled with her hands slightly. “Lilian…always told me not to ask so many questions…” She sighed softly. "But...I want to know...if I am to..." She looked back to Ivan then. "To um..." The words caught in her chest. "If I were to agree to become your familiar..." She finally spoke the words. "I should know at least...that shouldn't I?"

"I would never shame myself as a host by letting you sleep on the couch, Adelaide." He retorted to her comment and shook his head. His home had plenty of space for a single guest. He could actually host about a dozen guests comfortably, though he never did such a thing. "Follow me I'll get you some clothes." He told her and headed back out of the kitchen and started through the living room.
When she asked her question suddenly he gave her a puzzled expression. "Hurt?" Though as she continued to speak he understood her meaning and nodded. "Ah, understand I do not expect you to make such a decision." He told her. "But.. no it does not hurt." He told her. "It's like... well you have to understand I'm explaining from what others have told me throughout the years. The best way I can explain it is that someone once told me it's like a very firm kiss against the neck. Then you'll feel relaxed, almost sleepy. Once it's done you might be hungry or thirsty but that's it. Well, that's what it's like for someone who is willing anyway. If you fight it then it can be quite painful or frightening, as you experienced."
Ivan lead her to his own bedroom, a large master suite with bright marble and colorful decorations. The only thing seeming to be out of place were to dark and heavy looking curtains over the windows to block out the sunlight during the day. He had an area set up for as a study, his bed, and a sitting area for watching TV. His bedroom was the size of a small house itself but was still cozy in its own way. "This way." He told her and lead her to a large walk in closet where he kept his clothes. He rummaged around in a set of built in drawers for a moment before producing a simple black t-shirt and a set of blue shorts with a draw string. "These should work for now." He told her as he handed her the items. "Feel free to use my closet or bathroom to dress if you'd like. I'll have the dress cleaned for you as well." He explained and headed back out into the bedroom.

Adelaide looked to him with a bit of a puzzled expression when he mentioned it would be shameful to allow her to sleep on the couch. She only offered a soft smile to this. She wasn’t certain how to respond. Then again, she didn’t know how the upper class worked at all. What was acceptable? Then his confusion at her question only caused her nerves to bubble up within her chest. “You…don’t expect me to make the decision…” She pondered the words. What did he mean by this? Though her thoughts were put to a halt as he spoke. She lifted her hand up to feel her neck where he had patched up the ripped skin. She winced slightly, it still hurt quite a bit. “It did hurt…” She spoke, her mind allowed her to remember that moment. Her heart leaped within her chest as the vision of the man shoving her against the wall came back to her mind. Fear gripped her. All she could feel in that moment was fear.
She gazed about the large bedroom as they entered her eyes looked about the colors and a soft smile curved up her lips. “This is your bedroom?” She questioned as she took note of the heavy curtains. “You’ve everything you could ever want in here.” She looked to the television and the seating area and shook her head slightly, though she had a smile upon her lips. “Of course…” She spoke as she followed him into the walk in closet, it was nearly the size of the bedroom that she shared with Lilian. She gazed around to the clothing that he kept, it was all fine and high class compared to what she was used to.
“Oh…” She spoke as she looked to him and then to the clothing. “Thank you.” She gazed up into his eyes as she held the clothing. “Right…yes…um…” She looked to her dress, her own blood had soaked into part of it from the injury she had sustained. “It’ll just be a moment.” She spoke as she drew in a breath. Adelaide gazed about the closet as she set the clothing down. She reached her arms behind her, attempting to reach to the zipper of the dress. She tried for a few minutes before she opened the door. “Ivan…I’m not particularly well versed in dresses…” She gazed to him a moment. “Would you…mind?” She stepped to him and turned, she moved her hair out of the way.
Adelaide waited a moment, she held her hands upon the front of the dress to keep it in place. She felt the material loosen. “Ah, thank you.” She spoke as she stepped back into the closet. She closed the door and stepped from her dress. She grasped the shorts and pulled them on, she tightened the drawstring and then pulled on the black t-shirt. Adelaide paused a moment; her mind was running rampant. She was exhausted. She had been awake since the early hours the morning before…and now it was nearly 24 hours later. Exhaustion was a terrible thing. She scooped her dress up in her arms and held her heels in her other hand. She stepped from the closet as a yawn came over her lips. “Sorry, it’s been a long night.” She looked to Ivan. “For you too I suppose.” She looked about his room once again. “What happens when your kind is exposed to sunlight? Is it as terrible as the books make it out to be?” She asked curiously. She always had so many questions. “Does it turn you to ash? That would be a horrible way to go…” She frowned slightly. “Are there…people…that hunt you?” She asked then, her words almost cautious. “Like in the books…and the movies…” She looked away, “That would be a terrible thing. You’re not an animal, I can see that.” She drew in a breath and sighed softly. “Apologies, I shouldn’t ask so many questions.” She gave an uncomfortable laugh then as she brought her eyes back to Ivan once more.

After leaving the closet Ivan stepped over towards his office area and turned on his computer. He was most likely going to have some messages to respond to after the events at the party and his abrupt departure. The politics of the vampire world had always been a chore. He was pulled from his thoughts though as Adelaide came out of the closet asking for assistance with her dress. "Of course.." He told her and gently slid the zipper down enough that she could get out of it but not enough to cause her to reveal anything she might, or might not be wearing underneath. He watched her walk back to the closet for a moment and shook his head briefly before turning his attention back to his computer as he sat down in the chair.
When Adelaide reemerged from the closet wearing the more comfortable and casual clothing he cast her a smile from the computer seat as he typed out a message. The host of the party had heard what happened and was worried that Ivan was offended and that had been why he left. He was typing up a short message to assure them it wasn't the case. He didn't need anything thinking they owed him favors or the like.
When he heard Adelaide's question he chuckled. "No, it doesn't turn us to ash." He explained. "It hurts though. As if we're being burned and it drives our thirst to heights I dare not even think about. Vampires exposed to sunlight are at risk of losing their minds, having their bodies forever twisted and drawing the attention of hunters. Most of the time when a vampire is exposed to such an event we take care of it ourselves rather than having a hunter intervene." He explained.

Adelaide looked to Ivan with a curious gaze. She looked to the computer and then back to the vampire as she absentmindedly folded the dress in her arms, rolling it over itself carefully until it was wound up in a small fold. When he chuckled she smiled slightly, at least her questioned had caused him some form of amusement, she wasn’t sure what to expect. It was a sensitive topic she imagined.
“That does sound...terrible, even still.” She spoke. “I couldn’t imagine having to kill someone that is of my own family or….circle...however you consider it.” She raised a brow slightly. She gazed about the room again her eyes carefully took in her surroundings. It was almost as though she was taking silent notes in her mind of everything that she could see. She seemed to ponder something for a moment before she gazed back to Ivan. “Were your born with the affliction?” She asked then. “Or...is it like the books and the movies explain...that you’re….turned? Would that be the proper term? Turned?” She furrowed her brows slightly. Adelaide was about as curious as they came. Even if it meant it could possibly cause trouble. She never really seemed to care. She’d nearly been killed once for asking the wrong person a question. Or was it twice? She couldn’t be bothered to remember every tiny detail.
“I should...let you sleep...” She spoke up after a moment, her brows furrowed slightly. “I too am quite exhausted...” She glanced about the room. “I’ve been up nearly an entire day.” She let out a soft laugh as her eyes fell upon the clock on the wall. “Um...” She brought her hand to her neck. “Do...do I need to worry?” She looked to him. “About...this…?” Her eyes were a bit worried with the question. “I’m not going to wake and crave blood...am I?” She asked as she gazed to Ivan, her hazel hues seemed to study him carefully.

After hitting send on his message Ivan quickly turned the computer back off and got up from his seat. "I was born a human. Born a peasant in a village that served directly under a Lord. My father was a carpenter and my mother was a castle maid. We didn't have much but were happy enough. My brothers and sisters and I helped where we could and when I became a man my father got me a job working in the Lord's court. We had no idea the Lord was a vampire though. He was an odd figure and seemed content keeping to himself most of the time, but when our lands were attacked he decided the best way to defend them was to turn a few of us and send up to intercept the warriors who had come to raid our village." He smiled and gave a soft shrug.
"Here, I'll take that dress and I'll show you to your room." He offered as she gently pulled the gown out of her arms. "Your bite wound will heal, rather quickly, but other than that you need not worry. The only time you would turn is if you drank some of a vampire's blood in return. To share in the life within the darkness." He lead her from the room and turned left down the hall where there were many other room located on the second floor. "If you need anything there is a com in your room and if you hit the service button one of my staff will see to your needs." He explained.
The room he lead her to was not as large or lavish as his own but it still was much larger than a typical bedroom. The bed was a King size and had a sitting area with a large TV and it's own private bathroom. "I'm sure you have many other questions you'd wish to ask. After we've both gotten some sleep we can continue to talk and I'll answer anything you might want to know." He promised as he stood in the doorway. "Good night, Adelaide. Sleep well."

Adelaide gazed about the room as Ivan explained his story, her eyes fell upon him several times as she took in the words. He spoke of castles, and villages. It made her realize just how long Ivan might have truly been around. Castles were a thing from so many centuries ago, she couldn’t imagine what it would even be like to walk within a castle. She stayed quiet as more questions popped into her mind. The most interesting thing she imagined was, he must have agreed to become a vampire then. If the blood needed to be drank in order to be turned. “Oh...thank you.” Adelaide gazed up into his eyes, his hand had brushed against hers when he took the dress. She turned and followed him. “That’s reassuring.” She spoke as she gazed about the halls of his home.
Adelaide remained rather quiet though, she yawned a few times as her body fought against her will to stay awake. Her muscles felt heavy. Her body felt as though she was pushing through quick sand just to walk down the hall. “I’m not sure I would know what to do with myself if I had a servant.” She laughed lightly, her eyes were threatening to close. She turned to him and gave a gentle smile. “Thank you again...for saving me...” She gazed into his eyes a long moment. “I hope that you sleep well, as well.” She turned and stepped into the room then.
She listened to the click of the door as it closed behind her. Her eyes looked about the room. But she quickly found herself upon the bed. It was softer than her lumpy mattress at the orphanage. The sheets were silky smooth and of fine cloth, unlike anything she’d ever slept upon before. Adelaide’s head rest upon the softest pillow she could have ever imagined. A smile crept across her face. The luxuries were something she had never imagined she would feel. Soon enough she slipped into a deep slumber. Most of the day Adelaide had a dreamless sleep. Though as the sun began to set her brows furrowed and her hands balled into fists. She flinched slightly in her sleep as she relived the moment that the two vampires had taken her into the dark secluded room. She cried out as she sat up swiftly within the bed. Adelaide reached to her neck, to find she was no longer in pain.
She took in quick breaths as she gazed about the room. She clicked on the lamp at the bedside and slipped from the silky sheets. Her heart pounded within her chest as she walked to the bathroom. Adelaide stepped inside and gazed into the mirror at herself. Her hair was an absolute mess, her makeup smeared. She reached up to her neck and removed the dressing to find that the injury was no longer even a blemish upon her skin. She touched her skin where the bite had been for several minutes before she turned to the shower. Adelaide stripped herself of the clothing Ivan had provided her and soon enough she stood within the steaming hot water of the shower. She closed her eyes and leaned her forehead against the cool tiles of the walls. She stayed like this for what felt like an eternity.
Soon enough Adelaide brushed through her hair and found a dryer for it. She bit at her lip slightly before she pressed the com button that Ivan had showed her. “Um...is there anyway I might get breakfast?” She questioned her voice a bit nervous. It felt strange to speak through a communication system, and even more so to know that a servant would arrive at her room.

Only a few seconds after the com button was pressed and Adelaide spoke her request into it there was a soft beep before a male's voice came on over the speaker. "Of course, ma'am. I will bring you breakfast here shortly. Would you like coffee with your breakfast?" He asked in a very polite and formal manner. Once Adelaide replied he confirmed that breakfast would arrive within a few minutes and the com beeped again signaling the end of the call.
At the other end of the hall Ivan was awake and back on his computer looking over the messages he had been sent throughout the day. Most of them were not even from the vampires themselves but rather their familiars or other staff members sending the messages for them. Another reason he disliked those that were considered within his circle. They had all grown so passive and comfortable that they had forgotten the work they used to do before they had come cursed to eternal night.
"Hmph.. I don't remember owing any of these vampires a single minute of my time." He sighed and clicked off the messenger page before sitting back in his office chair and glancing over to a mirror hanging upon a wall on the other side of the room. He hadn't dressed himself yet. Only in his shorts with his hair a mess and the many scars upon his body on clear display if anyone were to walk into the room. His life before being turned had not been easy. Despite the manner which he had told the story of his upbringing to Adelaide he had left out all the lashings and fights he had gotten into during that time. He lost count on how many times his mother had stitched up wounds that had been inflicted my knives or swords from brawls he had gotten into. Even after a few centuries they were the type of memories that never truly faded away.
A soft beep from the com pulled his attention away from the mirror. "Sir, your guest is awake." The male voice stated. Ivan reached forward and pressed a button upon his desk to open up the other side of the com by him. "Very well, thank you." He told the man and then there was another soft beep from the link closing. "I guess she isn't much of the type to sleep in." He mumbled to himself and got up from his chair.
Before leaving his room he gathered a dark colored robe from his closet and covered himself up. He could tell, even without opening the windows, that the sun had just barely set beyond the horizon, making it safe for him to walk around his home with the shutters open. For the benefit of his staff he usually stayed within his room until the sun went down so they could enjoy the sunlight. Just because he was no longer able to didn't mean he should banish others to a world of shadows and darkness.
A soft knock came from Adelaide's door and when the door opened a woman wearing a black maid's outfit rolled a cart into the room with breakfast upon it. She flashed Adelaide a friendly smile and a "good morning" before beginning to set up the plate and her drink upon a table where Adelaide could sit and enjoy her meal. There were plenty of options and more food than one person could hope to finish. Though a lot of the foods were high in protein or iron to help replenish her body after she had been bitten the night before.
When the woman had finished laying out the spread she rolled the cart back towards the door just as Ivan appeared at the entrance. "Good morning, my Lord. Shall I fetch you your own breakfast?" The woman asked to which he shook his head. "No, you may return to your normal duties." He told her in a kind tone before entering the room as she left. "Good morning." He told Adelaide. "I trust you slept well?"

Adelaide stared to the communication system and drew in a breath, a chuckle came over her lips. “Yes, yes coffee sounds lovely.” She replied with a smile. She wondered if the coffee tasted as good as she might think coffee in a mansion would taste. As she awaited her breakfast Adelaide walked about the room, taking it in once again. She found herself sitting upon the couch after a few minutes. Her eyes fell upon a beautiful abstract art piece upon the wall. She seemed to take in each brush stroke as she studied it. She wasn’t used to artwork, but it had always been an admiration of hers.
When the knock came from the door she nearly jumped from the couch. Her hazel hues turned to the door as she stood and walked around the couch. Adelaide couldn’t help but smile at the woman. “Good morning. Feels…weird to say that when it is evening…doesn’t it?” She let out a shy laugh as she looked to the spread of food. “Oh gods…this is far more than I could even fathom eating…” She muttered, her expression almost shocked. “I…” She looked to the woman a moment and a sigh came over her lips. “Thank you for this.” She lifted the mug of steaming coffee and hugged her fingertips around it.
When she heard Ivan’s voice from the door she lifted her eyes from the cart of food. She gave a smile and took a sip from her coffee. “Good morning.” She replied, a bit of a smirk on her lips. Once again, it felt strange to speak such words when it was truly evening. “Oh.” She looked to the bed, which she had yet to get around to making. The blanket was tossed about from the nightmare. “Yes. I slept quite well. Thank you.” She bit at her lip slightly and then took another sip of her coffee. “I’ve never slept in a bed so soft.” She shook her head as she walked the coffee over to the small table. She set it down and then she came back to the cart. “Please, tell me that you’re eating with me. I would hate for so much food to go to waste…” She looked to him. “Do…you eat?” She asked then as the thought popped into her mind. She then gave a nervous laugh. “Apologies, here I am questioning you again.” She laughed once again and a shy smile came over her expression.
Adelaide placed toast and bacon, eggs and fruits upon her plate before she stepped to the table and took a seat. “Did you sleep well?” She asked as she lifted her hues to meet Ivan once again.
