"I would love to join you." He replied to her question if he would be eating with her. He had not been planning on it of course, rather he was simply there to check on her and see if there was anything she might need. However when her eyes darted over to the bed and the blankets, which had yet to be adjusted, were tossed everywhere he drew his own assumptions as to the answer to his question. "You may ask me whatever you like, Adelaide." He reassured her as he approached the table and sat across from her. "Just know you may not always like my answer." He warned gently.
Once he had gathered up his own plate of food he sighed as he picked up a grape and tossed it into his mouth. "I can eat food. It just doesn't hold any nutritional value for me, and the taste is.. lacking. Almost like I've lost most of my taste buds but there's still the slightest hint of what it's supposed to be like." He shrugged and picked up a piece of bacon. "With meat it's not as bad though. Especially if it's closer to rare."
Her follow up question to his own state of rest caused him to nod. "I slept well, thank you. I'm an early riser though, I always have been, and I have been replying to communications I've received after last night's events. You managed to cause quite the commotion at the party it seems. Vampires, in their eternal life live for gossip. Once others caught wind that a human was attacked and I took offense to it there seems to be a rather loud buzzing through the ranks." He chuckled and took another bite of his food.
"Never mind that though. We have other matters to attend to." He stated and leaned back in his chair as he seemed to study Adelaide. "Do you want to return to the orphanage to confront your friend? Or would you simply like to set up a more permanent solution here. I recall something you said about tinkering with things? A hobby of yours?"

Adelaide drew in a breath as she noticed his eyes trail hers to the bed. She was nearly certain her lie wasn’t going to be believed with the state the blankets were in. When he spoke that she could ask him anything that she would like she raised a brow slightly. What if she took such information and turned it around on him. It felt strange for someone to place so much trust in her, when she knew she was a stranger to him. She ate a fresh strawberry as she listened to his answer to her question. “Well, thank you for entertaining me by eating breakfast with me.” She gave a bit of a defeated laugh. She winkled her nose slightly. “I’ve seen rare steaks before, it looks like it was just cut off of the animal.” A laugh came over her lips then and she shook her head.
When he began to speak of the communications he’d received her smile from her lips fell. She’d made quite the scene? Without even trying to. She bit at her lip slightly. “Apologies that you must go through such trouble for an orphan girl.” She ate a bite of eggs as she looked to him curiously. “Why would it be of so much interest that you took offense to it? What...exactly are they saying then?” She was rather intrigued. The whole society seemed to be quite different than the human world.
When he leaned back and posed the question Adelaide set her fork down. She drew in a breath as she lifted her coffee mug into her hands. She seemed to think a long moment as she sipped from the hot mug. “I don’t imagine confronting Lilian would be something that I should do. She was trying to help me. She had no idea that I would get attacked...and besides I was saved.” She gave a slight smile before she set her coffee mug back down upon the table. “I would like to...” She paused, weighing it over. She nervously pushed the food around upon her plate. “I want a chance at a life like this.” She smiled to him then. “Just like Lilian wanted for me...and you seem to be quite the gentleman...” She continued to push her food around as she thought it through. “If you’d have me, I would like to accept the more permanent position...I’ve only a small trunk of items at the orphanage...”
Adelaide spoke the last sentence rather quickly. She was nervous. But who wouldn’t be? She didn’t have a concrete understanding of exactly what she was getting herself into. “I do, I tinker with things.” She laughed lightly. “I’ve always dreamed of being a scientist. Lilian gets me all the books a girl could ask for.” She smirked slightly. No one had really ever asked her about her experiments besides Lilian. It felt strange to talk to anyone else about it. “I actually used one of my gadgets to stun one of my attackers. It didn’t work as good against a vampire...” She paused after she spoke the word, she smiled to him then, “It is strong enough to knock out a human...but I’ll have to reimagine it for any future attacks.” She smiled then. “But it is a hobby I do suppose.” She took a bite of food.
Adelaide lifted her hues to his and she studied him a moment, “What...should I expect?” She asked then after a long pause. “How often do you need to drink?” She followed her question up with curious eyes. As a young scientist it made her curious to the world. Which, may have been the only thing Ivan had working for him. Most would have tried to run away in a heartbeat. But not Adelaide, she was too curious for her own good sometimes. When she was a child it had gotten her in trouble as she tried to figure out how the electrical outlets in the orphanage worked. She’d nearly taken it fully from the wall when she was zapped by the electricity. That had turned into an adventure all in its own, Lilian had scared the life from Adelaide, telling her that she could have died. Which she very well could have. But, that didn’t seem to stop her. Nor would it ever.

When Adelaide asked why others would take such a keen interest on his involvement with Adelaide's attack last night he seemed to ponder his answer for a moment. "As you know I am very old. Most of the vampires in that circle are younger than I am. As with most living creatures we get stronger with age. The reason most aren't willing to try and fight against me, like your attackers, is simply cause they don't stand a chance if I put any effort into it." He explained then gave her a mischievous grin. In the time it took Adelaide to blink her eye Ivan got up from his seat and appeared behind her, resting his hand upon her shoulder. "I have a lot of strength, Adelaide. I simply choose not to use it most of the time."
"Most vampires fear me, though it's not something I've ever fully understood since I have never one given them reason to do so. So when they've heard that I've defended a human from someone's underling they expect there to be more interesting things to follow. They simply can't accept that I don't care to involve myself with their petty gossip and trivial squabbles." He shivered as if the idea of involving himself was more than just a minor nuisance.
Hearing that she wanted to continue to stay with him, and then asking about his need to drink, he chuckled and shook his head. "If you're sure you want to live with a monster I would happily have you." He told her. "However, I never said you would have to provide any of your blood for the stay. You were not aware of what you had walked into last night at the party. Therefore I don't expect you to uphold any sort of deal that would normally be made. However, if you so choose, I can have a work shop made for you to continue your projects and anything you might want to introduce to the market I will personally invest in." He told her as he walked around from behind her chair to stand in front of her once more. "If you do not wish to confront your friend at the orphanage I will send someone to retrieve your belongings for you."
"I should leave you to get ready for the day, or rather night. I will return to my own room to dress myself as well. Once we are both ready we can find a place within the house for you to set up your workshop." He explained and flashed her a small smile before turning to head for the door. "Take your time, Adelaide and finish your breakfast." He added before slipping from the room.

Adelaide listened carefully to Ivan. It was interesting to her to find out that others feared him, even if he had not given them a true reason to fear him. Simply his age and his strength factored the fear. She lifted her coffee to her lips and took a sip as she listened to him. Though suddenly he had disappeared. “Ivan…” She spoke just before she felt his hand upon her shoulder. Adelaide’s heart nearly leaped through her throat as it bound within her chest. Her coffee had spilled slightly as she jumped from surprise. She set her mug down and gazed up to him with slightly wide eyes. Fear. It was a funny thing. It took her several moments before her heartrate began to settle down and her breathing slowed. She wrapped her fingers around her mug once again. “You…um…you don’t seem like a monster…” She spoke and bit her lip slightly. She actually found herself more and more curious about him. Was it the mystery that this man was that caused her curiosity? Or was it the fact that he terrified her? That feeling of her heart racing within her chest was almost addicting in a way. She’d always been safe within the walls of the orphanage. Protected even. When Ivan moved on to speak about her projects her jaw loosened slightly. “You…you’d do that?” She questioned, a light seemed to spark in her eyes, a grin upon her lips now. “I’ve so many different things…I…I wouldn’t know where to begin.” She chuckled lightly. “I promise you that it would be a beneficial investment.” She nodded. “That…would be incredible…the local investors…well…I haven’t even been able to get an appointment. No one will take me seriously.” She shook her head then. She then gave a soft smile. “I would like to go to the orphanage to gather my things…Lilian will want to see me off…” She spoke after a long moment. She then looked to her plate of food that she had barely touched, “Oh…right yes…” She glanced back to Ivan as he slipped from the room. Adelaide sat there for several minutes before she finally finished the meal. She stood and bit at her lip slightly before she looked about the room. She opened the dresser and searched through it to find herself suitable clothing. It wasn’t quite the right fit for her, but it would do. She wore a pair of jeans and a fitted blouse that accented her features well. She gazed in the mirror at herself for a long moment before she stepped to the door of the room. She drew in a breath before she opened the door and stepped into the hall. She gazed about the modern home and found her way back to the living room that they had sat in the night before. Her eyes gazed to the twinkle of the city below. Her mind was racing. Was this the right decision? Was she putting too much trust in a stranger? But he saved her life. She owed him. If anything she owed him plenty more than to merely be invited to live in his home. But she did not have money to thank him with, nor did he seem to need it.

Once Ivan returned to his room he set to dressing himself for the night. A button up shirt and a pair of comfortable jeans. A very casual look for someone of his stature in the world, but it was a style he had come to enjoy. Practical and yet comfortable. Two things that weren't really found in the clothes that existed when he was a boy. The final touch was to brush out his shoulder length hair and he tied it back at the nape of his neck to keep it out of his face, and slipped on his shoes.
Once he was ready he walked down to the living room and found Adelaide already waiting for him. "Ah, good you're ready to go already. I suppose we should head out then." He stated and motioned for her to follow him as he headed towards the kitchen. Walking through the room he headed out through a larger door on the opposite side which lead to a four car garage with different vehicles. One was a large black truck, two very expensive looking sports cars and an off road jeep with all the bells and whistles. "We'll take the truck." He stated and picked up a set of keys from a keyring hanging on the wall by the door.
He walked to the driver side and opened the unlocked door and hopped up in the seat. "Luckily I know where this place is." He commented with a smile as he put on his seatbelt. "I hate using GPS. Feels like I'm getting talked town to by a noblewoman who's never done a day of work in her life." He said and chuckled as he turned the key in the ignition. Once Adelaide was in and ready he hit a button on the visor to open the garage and slowly backed out, closed the garage afterward and started down the road to the main street and then the highway that would take them back into town.

Adelaide held a beautiful picture of the ocean in her hands as Ivan walked into the room. She set it down and gave a sheepish smile. “Yes, yes I um...I hope it is alright that I found these clothes in the dresser.” She stepped over to him. She followed him through the home and gazed about as they came into the garage. Her jaw was loose as she looked to the expensive looking vehicles. His voice broke her from her thoughts and she looked to the large black truck and gave a small laugh. She had to climb to get into it. She gazed about the interior. Being from the inner city she didn’t ride in vehicles often. Most places that she needed to be were within walking distance.
When Ivan made his comment a laugh came over Adelaide’s lips. “A noblewoman really?” She questioned. “You can change the voice, you know?” She smirked to him slightly, “Perhaps that would help you feel less like you’re being talked down to.” She looked to the city ahead of them as they drove down the hill. “This world has so many things that I never imagined being real.” She spoke after a long moment of silence. “To be quite honest, I know I should be frightened….but oddly enough I’m not.” She smiled and laughed once again. “I’ve thought about it extensively...I am...almost excited to discover new things.” She shook her head. “I’ve been in the orphanage my whole life. There is only so much that, that sort of life has to offer. I spend most of my time helping Lilian tend to the children. Especially the younger ones. I was one of those once.” She shifted in her seat and then fell quiet for a moment as she gazed to the passing lights of the city. “I suppose I’m not anymore. But then again, it’s all I’ve ever known...” She seemed to almost be speaking to fill the silence, though eventually Adelaide fell quiet as they drove along.
Soon enough the orphanage came into view. The lights from within the home were illuminated in some corners, others the lights were already out for the night. She gave a soft smile. “If...you want to come you can. It shouldn’t take long.” She gave another smile and then she climbed from the truck. Adelaide pulled her key from her purse and stepped to the door. She turned it within the cylinder and walked inside.
“Addie!!” A young girl rushed forward and threw her arms around her. “Addie I was worried about you! I missed you.” She exclaimed as she nearly glued herself to Adelaide.
Adelaide knelt down and pulled the young girl with strawberry curls into her arms. She hugged her tightly. “I missed you too, love.” She spoke with a loving smile. “Shouldn’t you be in bed?” She asked with a bit of a stern look.
“But, Miss Addie.” The child groaned.
“Now, now. If Lilian found out that you were still awake she would be quite cross with you.” Adelaide chuckled lightly. The child hugged herself again to Adelaide before she ran off up the stairs of the home.
Adelaide stood and chuckled lightly, “She’s a sweet one.” She spoke before she walked down the hallway. She could hear children within their rooms speaking to one another, a soft smile curved up her lips. She turned and pushed a door open to find Lilian sitting within her bed with a book in hand and a mug of tea in the other. “Lilian.” Adelaide spoke.
“Addie.” Lilian set the book down quickly and stood. “Dear, you’re alright.” She stepped forward and looked her over quickly. “I heard...um...” Lilian’s eyes fell upon Ivan then and she gave a soft smile before she looked back to Adelaide. She glanced back to the bed, Lilian had packed away Adelaide’s things in boxes. She’d never expected her to return. She labeled each box carefully. “It’s good to see you Ivan.” Lilian spoke as she looked back to Adelaide.
“I um...I’m going to be moving in with him.” Adelaide smiled, “He’s going to support my inventions.” She grinned then, “And he wants to help me really kick them off.” She looked to Ivan with hopeful eyes. “Thank you for packing Lilian...” She stepped to her bed and touched one of the boxes. Lilian had carefully labeled everything as she’d packed it away. “This should be it...not much...um...” She looked back to Ivan then.

Ivan listened to Adelaide as she spoke about her life at the orphanage. At least it seemed she had happy memories there. A lot of children did not, but she was right that there was only so much you could experience while trapped within those four walls. Then as the silence fell between them he simply would glance over to her every now and then. Her world was completely different than it had been just 48 hours ago. He couldn't help but feel a little pity for her. Most who got into her position at least were aware of what they had signed up for.
As they arrived at the orphanage he got out of the truck, locked it, and followed her up the steps and into the building. As he stood in the doorway he could smell the musty walls and floors, hear the wood creaking and could tell just how long this place had been standing within the city. He might have to make a couple anonymous donations to help renovate the place a bit.
The sound of the child calling Adelaide's name pulled his attention away though and he looked down at the young girl with a small smile upon his lips. He had always been fond of children but never had any of his own. Eternal life made such a thing far more complicated than it already was. When the young girl ran off and Adelaide continued on towards the room where her belongings would be located he glanced back to see the girl peering down at them from the stairs. He smiled and waved before shaking his head as she quickly ducked out of sight once more.
"Lilian." Ivan nodded to the woman as she greeted him after he had followed Adelaide to their shared room. "I'll carry the things." He offered and easily picked up the boxes. "A word of advice Lilian.. don't send girls that don't know what they're walking into in the future." He gave the woman a hard look and then glanced to Adelaide with a smile. "I'll be in the truck." He offered and turned to head out the door and left the women alone.

Lilian looked to Ivan as he spoke to her, the smile upon her lips flattened slightly. She knew what she had done was wrong. But, in Adelaide’s case it was the only way. She knew Adelaide would not have gone. She would not have believed any of it. Adelaide placed a hand upon the woman’s shoulder and then chuckled and shook her head. “Aside from being attacked...it wasn’t a terrible night.” She gave a reassuring smile. “I see that look...I know it well...thank you Lilian.” She pulled the woman into a hug. “I might have been angry with you last night but...I’m not angry with you at all. I understand what you were doing...and...I wouldn’t have gone...you practically had to drag me from the house.” Adelaide chuckled lightly. “I would have stayed here cooped up in this old place...” She shook her head and sighed as she looked to the lumpy old mattress that she’d slept on for many years.
Lilian gave a sigh of relief it seemed. She gave a warm smile to Adelaide. “Ivan is one of the good ones.” She spoke after a moment, she nodded slightly. “Don’t um...don’t forget to stop by and say hello every now and then. The children will miss you. I’m so glad that you’re alright dear.” She pulled Adelaide into a tight embrace. “Now go.” She kissed her forehead.
Adelaide drew in a breath as she looked to the woman a long moment before she turned and slipped from the room. She was greeted once again by the young girl with strawberry curls. A soft sigh came over her lips. “You’re leaving...aren’t you? Miss Addie are you leaving?” The girl had tears in her eyes. She brushed a few tears from her cheeks, “You...you’re my best friend...y-you can’t leave...you didn’t even say goodbye...”
Adelaide stepped to the girl and knelt before her. “You know what, Evelyn?” She asked with a soft smile. “I’m not saying goodbye, because I will still come visit you. Hm?” She brushed a tear away from her cheek. “Hold on a moment.” She stood and rushed out to the truck. She found a box labeled ‘keepsakes’ and she pulled it open. “Just a moment, Ivan.” She spoke as she dug through the box. She pulled out a teddy bear that had seen better days. It was patched and had buttons for eyes. She rushed back inside swiftly and knelt before the young child. She held the bear behind her back, a smile upon her lips. “I’m going to give you something very, very important to me. Hm?” She searched the child’s eyes as she continued to cry softly. She held the bear forward and smile sweetly. “I’ve had this guy as long as I can remember, hm? He’s kept me company. I think he’d like to keep you company now.”
“Miss Addie...please don’t go.” The little girl hugged onto Adelaide and sobbed into her shirt.
Adelaide closed her eyes. She spent so much time with the children. She bit her lip slightly. “I’m not going forever. I’ll come see you Evelyn.” She scooped the girl up. Adelaide had a bit of trouble carrying the girl but she managed to climb up the stairs with her. She carried her down the hallway and to her room where the other children were fast asleep. She tucked her into her bed and kissed her forehead. “Every time you feel alone, just remember you have this guy, hm?” She set the teddy bear against the girl’s chest. “I’ll see you soon, love.” She leaned down and kissed the forehead of the young child.
“Could...could you read a story...Miss Addie...please...” The child pleaded as tears streamed own her cheeks.
Adelaide drew in a breath and gave a gentle smile. “Yes of course.” She spoke as she moved and pulled a book from the bookcase. She sat on the edge of the bed and began quietly reading through the story. By the time she was halfway through the book she looked to Evelyn and gave a small smile, the child was fast asleep. She tucked the blanket in around her and kissed her forehead. “Sleep well little one.” She spoke before she slipped from the room. Adelaide brushed a few tears of her own from her cheeks as she stepped from the orphanage. She climbed into the truck. “Apologies that took so long...um...” She brushed another tear and bit her lower lip as she looked away. "Ready to go?"

Ivan loaded the boxes into the backseat of the truck. He had wanted to bring the larger vehicle in case there was more than he expected. Adelaide had told him that she didn't have much but he hadn't realized just how little she would be bringing. Lilian was a decent woman and did the best with what she was given. Still.. there were quite a few children that were relying on her for care.
When Adelaide came running out and dug through one of the boxes before running back inside he tilted his head in curiosity but smiled as he listened to the exchange between her and the child. He didn't have to be inside to hear what was going on and so he leaned against the front fender of the truck and listened to their interactions as he waited patiently. As he waited a small group of men walked by him on the sidewalk, which Ivan didn't think much of, but as they came to a stop in front him he was forced to bring his focus away from the story Adelaide was reading. "Can I help you gentlemen?" Ivan asked, annoyed that he had been interrupted.
"Yeah, that's a nice truck. Does it belong to you?" One of them asked which caused the others to laugh.
"It does." Ivan replied flatly.
"How about you give me the keys? I'd hate to have to bloody up that pretty face of yours." Another man piped in. Then before Ivan could respond another man threw a right hook and landed a hit right on Ivan's jaw.
The punch would have knocked down a normal man but Ivan hardly even budged and simply grabbed the man's wrist and twisted his arm hard enough to break the bone. "Get lost before your legs can't carry you out of here." He warned and to which the group practically scattered, even the man screaming with a broken limb ran as fast as they could to get away from Ivan.
When Adelaide came out he smiled at her and walked around to get into the driver side. "I've got nothing but time Adelaide. You could take as long as you needed." He told her and started up the truck and started his way home.

Adelaide took in a breath, it shook slightly. “I didn’t want to keep you waiting too long. This area isn’t...um...” She noticed the men walking down the street. “It isn’t the best of areas. Especially after dark. I am certain that you could handle yourself but...” She bit her lip slightly and shook her head. “I’ve had enough run ins with the likes of people here that...I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.” She brushed away another tear.
“I had to tuck in that little girl.” She spoke after a long moment of silence. “She um...she’s a good kid. She just is quite fond of me...and um...I didn’t want to just leave her. I gave her my teddy bear though...that should help.” She gave a soft smile and then fell quiet once again. She turned her eyes to him and furrowed her brows. She noticed a bruise upon Ivan’s jaw that wasn’t there before they had gone into the orphanage. “Ivan...did...something happen?” She questioned, her voice full of concern.

Ivan listened as he drove but kept his eyes on the road for the most part. "Kids are great. Teenagers are a bit more troublesome sometimes, but still enjoyable." He said and chuckled but when she asked about if something happened he reflexively reached up and rubbed his jaw and gave a soft shrug. "Nothing of note." He told her and flashed her a quick smile. "The mark will be gone by morning. I wouldn't worry." He assured her.
"So, when we get back we can see about what area you want for a workstation and can start drawing up plans for what you need. I can have contractors come in to build whatever you want so you have everything you need as well." He offered, wanting to change the subject from a couple of thugs who thought that they could simply take something that belonged to him.

Adelaide chuckled to his comment about teenagers. “You know, some of them aren’t half bad.” She smirked, “I was a little hellion….at least that is what Lilian says, I’m not so sure about that.” She shook her head slightly. She sighed when he spoke that his injury on his jaw was nothing to take note of. She glanced out the window as the city raced by.
When Ivan began to speak again she gave a smile, “That sounds really amazing.” She spoke and then grinned in excitement. “Again...this feels like a dream...I mean...” She sighed softly as she thought of the orphanage. “The orphanage is barely standing, I am certain that it barely passes the standards for code….and yet that place made me who I am. I never knew my parents. Not like some of the children that have lost their parents to accidents or murder. I never knew mine.” She had a soft look upon her face as she continued to gaze out the window. “I feel like I’m in a dream, Ivan.” She chuckled lightly as she stated it once again. “I’m sorry I keep saying it...I...just can’t shake that I’ll wake up in that lumpy old bed in that musty old house...” She smiled as she spoke. “Lilian will come into the room and tell me it’s time to get up for the day...and I’ll groan and roll over...because I’ll want to sleep more and come back to my dream.” She laughed lightly.
Adelaide finally looked over to him. “You know what Lilian didn’t tell me?” She spoke then a bit of a smirk upon her lips. “Lilian barely pushed me out the door for this event. I dug my heels in hard. I’m not one to dress up. I’m not one to act a part and partake in fancy parties.” She chuckled lightly. “If she would have told me, even an inkling of vampires and what I would have been getting into...” She smiled a moment. “I wouldn’t have believed her. I would have called her silly. Told her she was joking with me. Then when she would have finally convinced me to go. I’m certain I would have gotten myself into quite a bit of trouble. I would have been asking all the wrong questions. My curiosity gets the best of me, most always.” She turned her gaze away from him. “Thankfully I’ve landed in your hands...I’m not so sure how I would have faired if I would have been forced to be with that man from last night...” She shuddered to the thought.

"Well.. that man didn't properly take you anyway and you would have been assigned to his master probably. There are rules." He offered and glanced in his rearview towards the downtown area where the orphanage was located. "You know.. if you want.." he started as he formed the beginning of an idea. "You can put your proceeds to any of your inventions towards the orphanage to remodel or revive it. That way the kids there have a more sturdy place to live."
He sighed and placed one arm on the center console as they drove and chewed his bottom lip for a moment. "I would donate to them or even just rebuild them a new place, but if it comes directly from me then others will see that I'm personally invested in something and it may make the orphanage a target if I ever make someone angry and I don't want to do that." He explained. "It's one of the reasons I keep to myself for the most part.. makes it much harder to hurt me or the things I care about." He said the latter part in a more hushed tone.

Adelaide shuddered as he spoke the words. She would have been assigned to the vampire above the one that had attacked her. She could only imagine how horrible that would have been. Instead...she was living a dream. She glanced to him, “At least...there are rules.” She spoke with a soft laugh, though she sounded a bit uncomfortable. She sighed softly and gazed back out the window as she fell silent. When he spoke she turned her eyes to him once again. A smile formed upon her face. “That...would be an incredible idea...Lilian needs all the help she can get...I...that’s what I would like to do.”
She looked to him as he chewed on his lip. Her smile fell slightly. “That is terrible...you can’t even help those around you because of the society that you are in.” She frowned slightly. “Well...I’ll do it...and if anything in your heart you’ll know it was coming from you...because...you’re going to help me get there.” She grinned happily. She then sighed softly. “What...things have happened in the past? If you don’t mind me asking...is that how your previous familiar passed? Was it something that happened within the society...or was it truly age?” Her expression was soft, curious. Truthfully she wanted to know just how dangerous this was going to be.

"My last familiar passed away from age." He confirmed. "But.. I've had other things taken from me." He explained. "Humans I've had friendships with were killed before I could offer to turn them. My property has been destroyed, homes and such that I've had. Keep in mind none of this has happened in centuries, but that does not mean I don't worry about it now." He glanced over to her and couldn't help but smile at the soft way she looked at him. It wasn't the expression someone like him deserved but he was grateful for it anyway. "I'm not going to let any harm come to you though Adelaide. I can promise you that."
He sighed and seemed to relax a bit as they left the city limits and drew closer to his own residence. "Also, I never agreed to take you on as my familiar." He reminded her. "I brought you on so I can invest in your ideas that you want to make. I want to see what you come up with." He flashed her another smile. "So don't worry about having to deal with me biting you. You'll keep your blood and I'll have my substitute in the mean time."
Pulling into the drive way his smile faded as they drew near to the house. There was a silver car parked in the front and it seemed that Ivan recognized it by the way he seemed to glare at the vehicle. "When we get inside go straight up to my bedroom. Closed and lock the door and do not open it for anyone other than me. Understand?" He told her in a serious tone.
