Adelaide seemed surprised by Ivan’s reaction to her mentioning of Timothy Cutler. She gave a soft smile, “He seems hell bent on destroying everything that is good within this city. His claims are that he is bettering the place, but I am not so certain that, that is what he is doing.” She watched him carefully as he spoke of his sire. “His wife wanted you?” She questioned and then shook her head. But before she could get a response she’d noticed the man from the night before.
“I won’t…I promise.” Adelaide watched him leave she bit her lip slightly and sat upon the couch. Her mind began to race.
**
Vance stood at the door a smug smile upon his lips. “Ivan Von Reich.” He looked him up and down. “You look well.” He clicked his tongue slightly. Vance was well dressed, his hair was carefully combed. To anyone that didn’t know he was a foolish dirtbag he’d look like quite the stunning gentlemen. “I have a message for you.” He reached into his jacket, a grin upon his lips. “I’ve come to collect something.” He said it almost the same as Ivan had said it to him when Ivan had interrupted Vance from drinking from Adelaide. “Warren Targus would like to pay you quite handsomely for the trouble of last night.” He still held the smug grin. “Mr. Targus would also like for me to collect the girl. He’s given you plenty of money. Surely anyone of your age and statue understands…that…we don’t turn down Mr. Targus’ offers. Hm?”
Vance held the envelope forward. “After I told him what I tasted he had to have her for himself.” A chuckle came over his lips. “It’s the sweetest blood I’ve ever had…even after you threw me through a wall…the bones that should have been broken…” A chuckle came over his lips. “Well…I didn’t even have a scratch on me.” It was more of a wicked smile that he held now. “She’s quite special Ivan, and Mr. Targus wants her.” He lifted up his free hand and held his palm up. Electricity moved about between his fingertips. “Neat trick isn’t it?” He grinned. “And to think I only got a little taste of her, could you imagine a full fill?” He pressed the envelope to Ivan’s chest. “So. Do I have to forcefully take her….or are you going to let me in?”

Ivan continued to block the door as Vance spoke of a message and an offer of money in exchange for the trouble and Adelaide. He wasn't interested in money and he definitely wasn't interested in giving up his newest familiar. In fact he found it irritating that Vance was even standing on his front door step with such an outrageous claim. "Mr. Targus doesn't have any power over me. I don't want his apology." As he saw the spark between Vance's fingers though he felt his muscles tense. Was it a trick? Some sort of device that was intended to intimidate Ivan? He couldn't hear the hum of any electronics on Vance's person but the sparks of electricity were unmistakable.
"Yeah.. I can imagine." He stated and threw the door open before leaning in and delivering a punch to the center of Vance's chest. His strike was incredibly hard, if it had been a human receiving the punch he would have gone straight through their body but Vance was simply launched backwards and sent tumbling through the manicured bushes and trees of Ivan's front porch. When Ivan pulled his hand back he noticed that his skin had spines protruding from his fist, now coated in blood, and seemed to have a protective covering over it.
"Curious.." Ivan muttered to himself then slammed the door closed and locked it before Vance could recover then ran up the stairs to the bedroom. He meant to knock on the door but ended up taking the door off the hinges all together. "Well.." He said and cleared his throat before rushing into the room. "Come on Adelaide. We're leaving." He told her and scooped her up in his arms. He was planning on running all the way to the airport. It would be faster and more direct than driving.

Vance frowned slightly when Ivan spoke that Mr. Targus didn’t have any control over him. “You ought to think about that I don’t believe that---….” His words were cut off by the harsh punch to his chest. Vance flew back and rolled a few times. His chest burned. He groaned in pain as he gripped it. A growl came over his lips, his fangs were visible. His eyes wild as his wounds healed swiftly. He stood and rushed forward toward the locked door. “You think that’ll keep me out?!” He snarled as he slammed against it, easily breaking the door down.
**
Adelaide jumped to her feet swiftly, her eyes wide as Ivan burst into the room. She stared to the door in disbelief. As he scooped her up into his arms she gripped onto him. “Now?” She questioned. She didn’t know exactly what time it was, but she worried that the sun would be coming over the horizon soon. “Ivan what did he want?” She asked though she heard the skidding of feet as she asked the question.
Vance stood in the doorway, his eyes were wild as he grinned. “You think you can keep her from Mr. Targus?” He snarled as lightening moved about within his fingertips. He rushed forward and slammed into Ivan harshly, with much more force than he should be capable of for the young vampire he was. Electricity burst from his palms into Ivan’s body as he contacted him. Adelaide toppled from Ivan’s grip. She scrambled across the floor. She spun around when her arm was grasped by Vance. He grinned wildly at her and gripped onto her body tightly as she fought back against him. Her eyes were alight with her magic as the fear consumed her. “You can’t keep this treat from everyone, Ivan. That would just be selfish.” He licked his lips and chuckled. “Shhh you’ll be alright. Stop fighting.” He gripped more tightly onto Adelaide.
Vance adjusted his grip and pulled her in to sink his fangs into her neck. Though as he did she managed to wiggle her wrist loose from his grip. She slammed her fist against his chest. A burst of white magic came from her fist which knocked Vance back from her. Adelaide drew in quick breaths as the vampire stumbled and growled. “Stop.” She spoke, her voice trembled. Vance rushed forward like a wild animal then. Adelaide grit her teeth and held her hands up, fire licked from her fingertips and surrounded the vampire. Vance screamed in agony as the flames wrapped around his being. Adelaide opened her eyes and suddenly the flames from her fingertips disappeared. She took in quick breaths as she staggered back from the vampire that collapsed upon the floor before her as he turned into a charred husk of a body. Her jaw loosened, her eyes were locked upon the body now. The light of her magic still danced within her iris as she stood frozen.

Ivan was just about to turn to face Vance as he felt the electricity course through his body. It hurt, but it also seized his muscles so he couldn't fight back or stop Vance from grabbing Adelaide after she fell from Ivan's arms. As Ivan was released from the grip of Vance's new powers he gasped and collapsed to the floor. He tried to get his limbs to obey him but they simply wouldn't listen as they twitched painfully. It wasn't until he felt the heat of fire upon his back that he managed to command his body well enough to move away from the danger.
He looked on with surprised awe as a flame thrower erupted from Adelaide's palms and burned Vance into a crisp. When the flames stopped he watched the charred remains crumple to the ground and then he looked up to Adelaide as the same white light from before showed clearly in her eyes. If the hunch he had about her origins were true, and it seemed they were, he needed to get her to Europe and quickly. As others discovered the strange properties about Adelaide she would be hunted by more and more people who desired greater power.
"Adelaide.." he groaned and forced himself up onto his feet. "Are you alright?" He asked and checked to make sure she hadn't been bitten again. As far as he was concerned he was the only one who had that right now and he would never do it in such a way that it would frighten or harm her. "Come on." He told her and gently wrapped her in his arms and pulled her against himself as he glanced back to the charred body of Vance once more. He was going to owe his staff a rather large bonus after this past week.

Adelaide’s breath caught in her chest, her heart pounded. Only when she heard Ivan’s voice did her eyes tear away from the charred remains of Vance. “I…” She looked to her hands and bit her lip. She nodded. “Yes…yes I’m…I think I’m alright.” She was more than happy to be swept into his grip. She grasped onto his arm and leaned against him heavily. “I…I don’t know what happened…” She whispered. She looked over her own shoulder to the body. She shuddered. “I did that.” She breathed the words.
“Ivan…you were right…I must be what you said I am…” She spoke as she walked along quickly with him. “I was…overwhelmed and…it just…happened…” She spoke with the speed that her heart raced within her chest. “I’m sorry…I shouldn’t…I shouldn’t have….I killed him…” Her eyes widened slightly as she spoke the words. She killed someone. Even if it was in defense, she actually killed another living being. Her breathing quickened. “He was after me…just like the other vampire…” She spoke with tears welled in her eyes. “That…electricity…was…that because he had my blood? His grip was so tight…” She looked down to her wrist which was already bruised from the tight grasp that Vance had on her. She had another bruise upon her forearm of her other arm. “The plane…sounds nice…safe…” She nodded as she finally fell quiet. Her mind was racing from thought to thought over what just happened.

As Ivan held onto Adelaide the spasms in his muscles slowly dissipated and he began to feel more certain on his feet. His body hurt but he knew that it wasn't from any injuries, just muscle soreness. As she leaned into him he gently ran his fingers through her hair and comforted her the best he could. "It's alright. Vampires are considered the living dead, so not really the same as killing a person." He gave a somewhat dark chuckle. "I don't even have a heartbeat and neither did Vance so don't feel guilty." He explained.
"I don't know exactly why he could manipulate electricity like that. I hope to find out though. Let's pack whatever you want to bring with you quickly and get going. The sooner we get out of here the better." He gave her a gentle squeeze and as he pulled away he looked down to his hand and noticed that the spikes from earlier were gone. It seemed, for now, he was back to normal.
He also wanted to leave just in case Vance had backup anywhere nearby. Some of these vampires seemed rather determined that they were willing to break ancient laws between their kind. He didn't want to bring it to anyone's attention until he figured out Adelaide's situation though.

Adelaide drew in a breath as he comforted her. She’d never truly been treated in such a way. Her eyes closed a moment and she let out a long breath. Her ear was pressed against his chest and when he chuckled it reverberated through his chest. She gave a soft laugh. “I do suppose if you put it that way, it isn’t as terrible.” She laughed once again as she looked up to him. She allowed him to lead her through the halls and to her room where she slipped from his grasp to pack. “I won’t pack too much.” She spoke as she rummaged through her boxes and packed away clothing into a single small duffle bag.
She turned and looked to Ivan, “I hope…that we can find answers where we are going. I trust you, Ivan. I know…we haven’t known one another for long…but…I do…as stupid as it may be for me to trust someone I barely know.” She brushed her hair from her eyes. She pulled the strap of the duffle bag over her shoulder and she gave a small smile to him. “That’s it…if I need anything else…we can buy it right?” She smirked to him. She very well knew that it was something that could be afforded. She stepped back over to him and looked him over. “You’re not hurt are you?” She asked her expression filled with concern. “How far is the airport from here?” She asked after she was done fussing over whether or not he was injured. “It’s about an hour from the orphanage…” She commented as she walked into the hall. She felt oddly more confident than before. Be it that he’d drank some of her blood, perhaps she was still on a bit of the high from that. Or perhaps it was the fact that she’d just displayed quite a bit of power, and without even truly knowing how she did it. She wondered if she’d used her magic in the past without realizing it. Using her magic through some of the contraptions that she created. Her brows furrowed to the thought as she walked down the stairs. She paused as she looked to the door that was bashed in.
Adelaide stared to it a long moment before she walked outside and climbed into Ivan’s truck. She looked about the cab of the truck and then she gazed to the sports car that remained from Vance. “What if they come looking for us?” She asked after a long moment of silence. “They will blame you for his death….won’t they?”

Ivan also packed himself a small bag with a few sets of clothes and a few personal items. The only other thing he grabbed was a laptop from his desk and then made his way down to the garage after Adelaide. "He came to my house, threatened me, and destroyed my property. Sure they'll blame me for his death but they can't hold it against me. This is my domain." He told her and gave a soft snort. "Perhaps I've been silent for too long, hmm? Counted on their fear of me to keep them at bay." He looked down at his arm where the spikes that had protruded from his skin made holes in his shirt. When he flexed his fist the spikes gradually reappeared before he released his grip and caused them to recede. "That'll take some getting used to..."
He started the truck and pulled out of the driveway to head down to the airport where he had a friend waiting with a private plane for them to arrive. "I know it's probably not what you signed up for but.. I'll go to war for my familiar. People are not meant to be used just as live stock. They're still people and I've chosen to take you under my care. So no matter what happens know that I'll protect you with every ounce of my strength." He promised her and pressed his foot down on the gas pedal to speed down the twisting highway.
When they arrived at the airport there was medium sized personal plane with two men standing outside of it. The sun was also started to come up over the horizon. "Ivan! We didn't think you were going to make it on time." One of the men told him. He was older, probably in his fifties and the other was a younger woman, perhaps his daughter from the family resemblance.
"Yes, well.. there were complications." He told them as he parked the truck and pulled out both his and Adelaide's bags to carry them to the plane. "Are you ready to go?" He asked them.
"Yes, we already have fuel and everything. We'll put down the shades for you as well." He explained and let Ivan and Adelaide board first. The woman went down the plane and closed all the shades to block out the sun while the older man closed the door and headed to the cockpit.
"Do you need anything?" The woman asked Adelaide. "My name is Kara by the way. The man is my father Tom." She explained.

Adelaide glanced to Ivan as he spoke, she sighed softly. “I feel like this is my fault that they have come after you...” She shook her head slightly. “I wish I would have known my father...perhaps I would have known how to protect myself properly...and understand these powers...” She watched as he flexed his arm and the spikes appeared. “How...are you doing that?” She questioned as her brows furrowed slightly. “That other vampire...he had magic...is that normal for your kind? To display magical attributes?” She questioned quickly.
She fell quiet then and gazed out the window as they drove along swiftly. She looked to him as he began to speak once again, a soft smile curved up her lips. “Thank you Ivan...I trust you...I really do...” She looked back out the window. “I trust you much more than I’ve ever trusted anyone...its a very strange feeling to be honest.” She let out a soft laugh. “Is that...the bond you were speaking of? That’s why I feel so close to you...isn’t it?”
Soon enough when they arrived at the airport Adelaide followed into the plane swiftly. Her eyes gazed about the private jet curiously. She took her seat and buckled in before Kara approached her. She looked up to the woman and gave a slight nod. “Yes...Um...something to help me relax would be great.” She gave a smile. “I’m Adelaide.”
“Of course, Adelaide, coming right up.” Kara spoke and stepped away. The woman was gone for just a few minutes before she returned with a glass of clear liquid that bubbled slightly with a lime on the edge. “I put a bit extra in there for you.” She spoke and nodded. “We should be taking off any minute.” She then stepped to the cockpit and disappeared behind the door.
Adelaide lifted the glass to her lips and took a long drink. She closed her eyes and leaned her head back. “Do you think they will hunt us where we are going?” She asked and gazed to Ivan. “Or do you think they will leave you alone after killing those two that were sent to collect me?” She took another long drink then.

Ivan tucked their baggage into the above storage compartment and sat in his own seat a short distance away from Adelaide. After securing his seat belt he leaned back and closed his eyes as he tried to relax somewhat while the plane began to taxi out onto the airstrip. "The bond helps.." he stated once they were alone. "But you can still fear someone that you're bonded too as well. You can hate them or be disgusted, it just amplifies those feelings." He explained. "As far as magic.. no vampires aren't supposed to have magic. We're too powerful as it is and it's said the gods bared any and all vampires from their blessings. Even if a mage is turned he looses his magic abilities."
As the plane turned a bit and the the engines began to work harder as they sped down towards the end of the runway Ivan opened his eyes. "You wont be known there other than my familiar. It's my own reputation we have to worry about there." He saw the drink that she held in her hand and could smell the alcohol coming from the carbonation that filled the air in the cabin. "Don't get too drunk." He warned with a soft smile as he closed his eyes once more. "You're liable to get me drunk that way if I were to bite you now."

Adelaide sipped from the mixed drink that Kara had made for her. She listened carefully to Ivan as he spoke. “Hm...I’m thankful that I ended up in your care then, Ivan.” She gave a soft smile. She took another drink and gazed about the cabin. The fine interior of the private jet held accents of gold and beautiful mahogany. As the engines revved up Adelaide gripped the handle of her seat with her free hand. She’d never felt anything quite like that. The rumble of the wheels upon the runway caused her to close her eyes briefly. Soon enough her stomach sank as they lifted into the sky.
“I could get you drunk?” She gave a laugh after a long moment of silence. “I’ll have to watch what I drink and eat now, hm?” She watched him a moment and then drew in a breath. “Is your reputation bad?” She asked after several minutes of silence. “You said it’s the only thing we have to worry about. Did you do something to cause yourself to have a reputation that caused you to leave?” The questioned came out quickly after she’d finished her drink. Her cheeks were a bit rosy from the strength of the beverage. “Or...is it something else?” She questioned curiously.
The plane hit a bit of turbulence then and Adelaide’s glass fell to the floor and rolled to the back of the cabin. Her eyes were wide as she leaned her head back. “That’s normal...right?” She asked in a worried tone. Though the turbulence passed rather quickly and soon enough they were soaring high in the skies.

"It's difficult to explain really." He told her when she asked about his reputation. "I left so I could have the life I wanted though. Not what someone else wanted of me." When the plane began to shake and he felt the currents of air toss it about a bit he smiled and reached over to place his hand on top of hers reassuringly. "Yes, it's normal. Tom is a very experienced pilot and I trust him to get us there safely." He explained. "Try to relax, and get some sleep if you can."
After a little while Ivan gave up on his own attempt as sleep and got up to retrieve his laptop from his bag. He didn't bother to turn the lights on as he clicked on the device and typed in his password. Glancing over to Adelaide he checked that she was doing alright and then refocused his attention on the screen. He wanted to be prepared for those he would most likely encounter while they were on their trip.

Adelaide searched Ivan’s hues and nodded. “Perhaps they are just a bit jealous that you left, hm?” She gave a smile then. When the plane began to shake her eyes looked to his hand that was placed over hers and she instantly felt a calming sensation wash over her. She nodded to him. “I’m sure he is.” She spoke as the plane settled down. Soon enough Adelaide settled into her seat and her head leaned against the side of the plane as she slipped into a slumber.
Kara came by and smiled, “She seems nice.” She whispered to Ivan as she carefully placed a blanket over Adelaide. “Let me know if there is anything you need. My dad said it might be a bit of a bumpy ride..but I uh...” She glanced to Adelaide, “I gave her a little extra she should rest through it.” She nodded and then smiled. She then walked back to the cockpit and closed the door behind her.
Adelaide’s brows furrowed in her sleep slightly and her breathing quickened, her pulse rose as her mind was riddled with nightmares of the attacks that she’d faced in such a short amount of time. Her entire life had been turned upside down. She gripped onto the blanket as the dreams rushed through her mind.

"She's nicer than I probably deserve." He told Kara as she came out to check on them. "I'll be alright though." He assured the woman before she disappeared back up front with her father. Once the cabin was quiet once more Ivan began to flip through different articles online, looking for information he could possibly use to their advantage if he should so need it. However as he read he noticed that he could feel an unsettled sensation coming from his link with Adelaide and his attention was drawn away from his computer once more.
Looking over he noticed her hand gripping the edge of the blanket and the way her pulse increased even as she slept. He wasn't sure what to do at first, but after a few seconds he reached over and gently brushed his fingers along her cheek and through her hair. He thought of the way he had been comforted when he was young and still frightened of the world around him. How he had been lulled to sleep by the comforting sensation of someone playing with his hair.

Adelaide drew in quick breaths as she fought to escape in her dream, running through a dark corridor as the nightmare twisted her memories into something much worse than anything that had happened. Though as Ivan reached out and brushed his fingertips along her cheek and through her hair her expression calmed. Her grip upon the blanket loosened slightly. A soft smile curved up her lips as she relaxed more into the seat and her breathing returned to that of the deep even breaths of a deep sleep.
Adelaide remained this way for several hours. Until the sun began to set over the horizon. Her eyes cracked open slowly and she gazed about the cabin of the plane, her eyes fell upon Ivan and she gave a soft smile. His presence comforted her more than she’d ever thought another’s presence could. “Work?” She asked as she noticed his laptop. She yawned and rubbed her eyes and brushed her hair from her face. “Wow I am not sure what was in that drink that Kara made, but I slept like a rock.” She laughed lightly. “How much further do we fly?” She questioned as she gazed to Ivan.
