Lynn gasped and shot upward… she looked around and then held her hand to her head. Her eyes glanced around the room… she was in Xavier’s. She went to move – but her entire body ached miserably...She moved to the edge of the bed and slowly stood up. As she began to move – her body was limbering up…
She thought long and hard about what happened… but couldn’t remember. It was all darkness… Xavier stepped into the bedroom and smiled. “You’ve got yourself in a real mess, huh? I’ve never seen you black out before… Lynn…” he moved so that she could sit on the edge of the bed with him. “Did you have to perform Blood Magic to summon that demon?” he questioned, his eyes curious.
Lynn looked to him and then downward – she was ashamed. “Yes…” she whispered. She shut her eye as they had become full with tears. Xavier simply wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly. “I’m sorry…” he spoke and then held her for a moment. “I know how hard it was to lose Tifa” he spoke and then slowly stood. “Stay strong… you know what you need to do” he smiled then. “I’ll be here…” he then stepped away.
Lynn reached up to her necklace and held it in her hand… she sighed softly and then stood. She stepped into the living room and smiled brightly. “Alright..” she spoke and nodded. “I’ve slept enough… We should get moving hm? We have to go to that forest right, where is it?”
Xavier looked up, he held a glass in his hand. “It is West of here, I could rent us a Airship if you wanted. Otherwise it would be about few day hike” he set the glass down and dug through a few papers. “Yeah, I actually get a discount from Jeckyl’s Airships, for fending off a group of bandits from stealing one..” he smiled and then nodded. “Let’s go for a wardrobe change, shop around.. and then we can go, yeah?”
Lynn smiled then and nodded. “Amalliey..” he stepped over “Thanks for saving me..” she smiled “I can’t remember much but I know you did… I remember your dragon too, just briefly. I am proud, you learn fast” she then stepped away as everyone began to gather.
Xavier smiled as he gathered his things and nodded. “Alright then!” He led them outside and then locked up his home. They walked across a bridge and into the bustling Trade District. “I’ll take you to my favorite shop, real cozy small place..” he led them down the block – they weaved around people. They made a turn and into a smaller ally way, which had a sign hanging down. ‘Oliver’s Armory’
Xavier opened the door and a bell chimed. The room was a larger square room with several manakins – which held suits of armor, uniforms. Weapons and shields hung on the wall, the place was completely full of sets. All meant for battle..
“Xavier!” A old man called out, he had a hunch back and thinning white hair. He stepped over and shook Xavier’s hand. “Who might these folk be?”
“This is Archmage Lynn… Sir Knight Lionel, and my daughter… “ he paused and smiled “Amalliey”
“Ahhh, My lady” he bowed his head. “It is a pleasure to meet the daughter of Master Xavier..” he held his hand out and gently kissed her knuckle. “So, time for a new look?” he questioned, he stepped infront of Lynn. “Ahh… yes, what a lovely shape. You would want something that… strikes fear into the heart of your enemies, but says – I am quite a gal.. at the same time, hm?” he thought for a moment and nodded. “Of course… take a look here” he waved her over.
He stood infront of a manakin which had a full black leather outfit on. It had boots that went up to the knees, with leather pants… A very delicate vest came over with a belt clasped in the middle, a cloth hung against her right hip… Dark brown gauntlets that were slender, which a very powerful cape clung to. “This says you, hm? Want to try it on? Go go, the room is over there…” he then hobbled over to Amalliey.
“But you… My lady… You need something that says – One powerful woman, who you ought not mess with, despite the beautiful face” he smiled and lead her to another manakin. “What do you think of this? Hm? Hmm… maybe not this… oh!” he rushed her over to the back. “This. Yes. Oh this would look great for you” he spoke and nodded. “All of this armor is magically enhanced to fit specifically you, and it all can withstand slices and pokes, armor with true strength” he nodded and then looked to Xavier with adoring eyes. This was his passion, surely…

Amalliey sat next to Lynn watching over her, her eyes worried. Eventually her father returned with the tea he’d promised. He offered her the cup and sighed softly. “Amalliey.” He spoke and searched her eyes. “You, were brave.” He spoke with a smile that curved up his lips. “You have the fight of your mother, her passion.” He looked to Lynn for a long moment. “Lynn will recover, I can see it, it just may take time.” He spoke and shifted. “I remember, your mother and I tried to raise her dragon, to bring him back. We were young, careless. We didn’t realize the power of the spell that we were performing. I only remember the fear in your mother’s eyes when we got halfway through the spell. She’d realized the danger that we were putting ourselves in.” He brushed Lynn’s hair gently. “Sometimes as a mage you wind up in a position that can cause harm to you, yet, if you don’t do it, someone else will. You understand?”
Amalliey gave a slight nod. “How do we stop this from happening?” She asked and sipped from her tea.
Xavier gave a long sigh. “This couldn’t be stopped I’m afraid Lynn has gotten herself into more trouble than her body could handle this time. But you saved her, that is all that matters in the end.” He gave a warm smile. “You should rest after your tea, Amalliey.” He gently hugged her before he stepped from the room.
Amalliey sipped her tea, her mind replayed what happened within the world that seemed to be hell. She remembered the fear in the gate lord’s eyes when she summoned Ryuk. Then how easily she’d chased away the darkness from Lynn. To remember was something of a gift, she couldn’t remember any of the summons of Ryuk before. But, this, she remembered crystal clear. Each and every moment, from gripping onto Lynn’s hand to rushing through the shadows. She finished off her tea and stood. “Rest well, Lynn.” She spoke softly before she turned and left from the room.
Amalliey rested over the next two days while Lynn was unconscious. She sat outside in the garden behind Xavier’s home. She sat cross-legged, looking out to the city. She played with small balls of fire in her palms. Training herself. Learning how it felt to use such magic. It was an incredible feeling to feel the heat of the flames, yet not get burned by them. Xavier came out to her side and grinned. “I want to teach you something.” He spoke and helped her to her feet. “The world outside of the castle walls is full of danger, bandits, monsters…you can’t fully trust anyone, Amalliey.” He spoke his voice wise. He took a few steps back from her. “Can you protect yourself?” He asked.
Amalliey looked to him, her eyes curious. “From what?” She asked.
“This.” Xavier lunged forward. He slid to the side and his arms wrapped tightly to her, pinning her arms to her body. “What will you do?” He asked as he fought against her. “How would you escape?”
Amalliey writhed against him, she wasn’t strong enough. Fire began to swirl in her eyes and then suddenly flames crawled up her arms from her palms. The flames licked at her fathers clothing.
He released her and jumped back, a grin on his lips. “Good. Now what about this?” He asked.
Xavier spent the two days doing what he did best. Being a mentor. He spent the time with his daughter that he was never allowed to. He pushed her to perform spells and protect herself. He pushed her to defend. At one point Amalliey even gave him a bloody nose from a hard blow with her elbow. She had a long way to go before she was stable as a mage, or even well versed as a fighter. But, Xavier gave her techniques that would help her be more than a damsel in distress. He gave her ways to fight back. Something she’d never had. All the while Amalliey checked in on Lynn, she’d place her hand on Lynn’s forehead and syphon some of her magic into her, giving her strength. “You can do this Lynn.” She’d say. “Don’t give in.” Her voice was sweet.
Lionel even pitched in with Amalliey, he practiced with a sword with her. Before long they were dancing about in the courtyard as the swords clashed together. Amalliey learned quickly, it felt as if she’d done some of these things before…
After the days passed Amalliey was sitting on the couch, reading through a journal of Lendon’s on the Azazel Mages, she scribbled in the edges of the pages and circled things here and there, reminding herself to go back for better understanding later. She looked up from the book when she heard the lock to Xavier’s room slip from place, that little jiggle of the door handle as someone opened the door. She watched her father enter the room and she stood slowly. She moved to the doorway and listened carefully. She furrowed her brows when her father mentioned Tifa. She stepped to the breakfast bar and sat down just as her father came from the room. A smile on his lips. “She’s awake.” He spoke and hugged Amalliey from the side.
Amalliey smiled as she saw Lynn come from the bedroom. She gave a nod when Lynn thanked her. “I still owe you. You’ve saved me countless times.” She spoke, her voice gentle. She was quiet as they moved through the city. She thought of her mother when she’d saved Lynn. Her mother was there, guiding her, helping her. She remembered the shadows fleeing from the bright light of the white magic. Amalliey watched as the old man in the shop moved about and found an outfit for Lynn. Her jaw was loose, it was a stunning outfit, must more suiting of her than the outfit that she currently wore.
“Me?” Amalliey asked as she looked to the outfit he’d pointed out. Then he rushed her into the back of the shop, back behind the counter where customers were not allowed. She was stiff as a board as he pointed to the clothing upon the mannequin. “I…” She furrowed her brows.
“Ah you’ll like it. I guarantee it, this fits you.” He pushed her along and into a fitting room. “Tillie.” He spoke. “Come help this young lady would you?” He asked and an older woman, most likely his wife came and stepped into the fitting room with Amalliey.
“I’m not sure I…this…” She spoke as the woman moved about quickly, fitting the armor pieces onto her. After a few minutes the woman took a step back.
“Oh dear, you look gorgeous in this. Do you like it?” The old woman spoke.
Amalliey stared to herself in the mirror. She looked nothing like Princess Amalliey…she turned and looked over the features of the clothing. She gave a slow nod as she inspected it. She wore dark brown leather boots that reached up to her knees, beneath the boots were black tight pants that accented her figure. Over the top of the pants on the left side several pouches attached into the belt that clung to her hips. She wore a beautifully designed corset. The leather straps cinched around her waist. Beneath the corset she wore a blood red blouse that was buttoned in the front. She had on gauntlets on her forearms that were made of the same brown leather as her corset with silver buckles. She wore black fingerless gloves. Her shoulders were encased in beautiful leather shoulder armor pieces that her blouse ran beneath. To top it all off she had a cloak that hung from her back, it was blood red like her blouse. The hood was huge and would easily hide her face if she needed it. The clasp was a beautiful silver with a lovely swirled in design.
“Come, come.” The old woman pulled on her.
Amalliey stepped from the room and out to the group. “Oh wow….” Lionel was the first to speak. “Princess…you look…”
Xavier looked to the knight as he stuttered and stumbled over his words. “Beautiful?” He smirked and looked to his daughter. “That is an incredible outfit. Thank you.” He looked to the shop keep and set money down on the table for both outfits.
“Wait!” The old man called. He stepped forward to Lionel and inspected his armor. “Good sir, this armor is in terrible condition, how to you expect to protect these beautiful women when you’re all rusted over at the joints?”
“I um…rust? This…” Lionel stumbled through his words.
“You’ll never be able to swing that sword like this. Come.” The old man led him into the back of the room. The sound of armor falling to the floor soon followed and a while after that Lionel stepped from the back room. “What do you think?” The old man asked.
“This is so light…” He spoke and moved his arms about. “Will this protect me?”
“Of course it will, magic is a wonderful thing.” The old man chuckled.
Lionel looked to the group he wore silver plated boots that reached his knees, with black pants beneath. He wore a carefully stitched green jacket that reached down passed his knees. A huge belt buckled around his waist made of brown leather. The scales of chainmail were beneath the jacket. Over the top of the jacket her had a beautifully crafted chest piece with etchings in it. His gauntlets and bicep pieces matched the entire set.
Xavier grinned. “You look like a knight now.” He winked and chuckled. “I bet you’re not as squeaky now either.” He set more money on the counter. “Thank you.” He nodded. Xavier then stepped from the shop with the others. “Airship? Or hike?” He asked.
“We don’t want to draw much attention to ourselves. Wouldn’t an airship draw attention?” Amalliey asked and looked to her father.
He pondered the idea then and let out a sigh. “You’re right.” He smiled to her.
Amalliey nodded. “Well, then we will have to make the best of this hike.” She spoke with a gentle smile. They walked from the city streets and soon came on a pathway. Not many traveled this path, a few passed by here and there. Though for the most part they were completely alone. Amalliey looked to the trees around them, listening to the birds as they sang and the gusts of winds that pushed against the leaves.
The crew pushed on through the mountains until the sun began to set over the horizon. It was then that they came upon a small farming village in the heart of the valley. “This place is always friendly.” Xavier spoke. “The inn here is rather cozy.” He smiled.
“You’ve been everywhere.” Amalliey looked to her father. “Between you and Lynn I could learn of the world without ever stepping foot outside.”
Xavier chuckled, “Yet, the world is so much more than stories. Isn’t it?”
Amalliey nodded, “It is more than I ever imagined.” She had plucked a flower, she twirled it around in her fingertips. She’d had it a few hours now. Her magic kept it alive.
Xavier stepped into the inn. “I need a room please.” He smiled.
“Master Xavier!” The woman exclaimed. “Of course!” She moved around quickly and grabbed a key. She moved through the inn and opened a door. It was a room that held 4 beds one for each of them to sleep on.
Xavier stepped into the room and yawned. He stretched and looked around the room. He’d been here before, years ago, with Elanor.
Amalliey looked around the room. “I um…I’m going to go find something to eat.” She spoke and then slipped from the room before anyone could contest. She was hungry, but she was also curious. Amalliey moved through the small town, she glanced around and eventually found herself in a pub. It was a bustling night. Several men in the place, yelling and having a good time. She sat down at a table and looked around at the old metal signs within the place. Rusty armor hung from the walls as well. It was like nothing she’d seen before.
“What can we do ya for?” A woman approached. “Yer not from around here are ya?” She asked. Her accent was strange.
Amalliey looked to her. “No I’m afraid not…what is good?” She asked.
“Ah the favorite of the folks here is the chef’s special. What do ya think?” The woman asked.
“Oh, okay, yes…I will have that.” Amalliey nodded. She looked to a glass that the woman brought her. She listened to the men that bickered amongst each other. This environment. It was so much different than anything she’d experienced before.
“I’ll buy you a drink there, sweetie.” A man spoke, he held a mug in his hand, half of the liquid was gone. “What do ye say?” He asked with a smile.
Amalliey looked up to the man. “Oh…I’m quite alright.” She spoke and took a sip from her glass of water.
The man sat down at the table a smirk on his lips. “Hard to get eh?” He snickered. “What’s your favorite? I’ll buy it for you.”
Amalliey looked to him and shook her head. “I am fine, really. I wouldn’t begin to know.” She spoke and shifted uncomfortably.
The man looked her over for a moment. “I’ll get you, you’ll see.” He smiled. “I’ll guess it.” He stood and walked over to the bar and began talking to the bartender, he pointed in her direction.
Amalliey took in a breath and looked away, she bit her lip slightly. Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea?

“Lionel, you look dashing” Lynn spoke and smiled as they made their way to the exit of the city. Lionel straightened out his back and then nodded. “Thank you m’lady” he smirked proudly and followed on behind the group. Lynn glanced to Amalliey for a long moment – as she walked ahead of the two, side by side with her father.
“Did you ever think that one day you’d be adventuring with the Princess, and a man that is her actual father?” Lynn glanced to Lionel. Lionel tilted his head back and then chuckled.
“No.. I did not. I imagined standing around the castle and putting my 20 years of training to very practical use…” He remarked and then sighed. “It is not the most.. ideal situation but I believe… everyone should have a story, a journey… To be locked up in the castle… that is not a way to live” he spoke and glanced to her. “What about you?”
“To travel? Yes, but with a Princess? No…” she pursed her lips and then chuckled. “As an Archmage… I expect to never really know what is next. We are always on the forefront of defenses… so I could end up anywhere… and, well.. I read a lot so I know what is possible…” she paused as they continued to walk. “I didn’t foresee something quite like this… especially how much I have been involved… We always come in to help, not… get stuck in the middle of it”
Soon they came to the small city… she dug in her pocket and handed a few coins to Xavier. “I can’t let you pay for everything…” she smiled. Xavier took the coins and nodded his head. “Very well then… I am rather tired… this old body can’t keep up with my mind… Could you watch over Amalliey?” he paused for a moment and then smiled weakly. “She has been locked away in the castle… this is her first moments out… you know very well what I mean..” he then stepped into the back of the Inn…
Lynn stepped away and made her way down the street. She walked into the pub – not too long after Amalliey did. She stepped to the side for a moment – watching Amalliey as she was sitting at the bar.
“Ahhh, this should do it, hmm doll?” The greasy man set down a glass infront of her. “It’s a little sweet, but a bit of a kick, you should like ‘er, good for the first timers” he went to sit down on the seat next to her…
Lynn stepped up and reached around, taking the drink out of Amalliey’s hands and setting it back down – before Amalliey could drink. “Hey baby” he leaned forward and kissed Amalliey’s cheek. “Sorry I’m late, got held up, you know how Russel can be” she put her arm around her shoulder. “Oh, hi – who are you?” She questioned to the man.
“I uh – “ the man scoffed and stood back up. “You owe me some money” he growled.
“Take your drink back then…” Lynn held the cup out. Slowly the man took it from her and held it in his hands. “Go on – take a sip, You bought it – you should drink it yeah? Or is there a problem?” Lynn’s voice grew strong. The man did not sip it. Lynn lead Amalliey to stand. “Or did you spike it, hm?” she shook her head. A few men had gathered.
“Go on buddy, drink it” one of the guys spoke, he had a gristly beard and long hair.
The greasy man held the drink up and then took a sip. He smacked his lips and smiled weakly “Ahhh, yeah, see… delicious…” he smiled.
“Down it!!” Another guy shouted, now 5 guys stood around.
The greaser chugged the drink and then stumbled back. The glass fell, but before it could shatter – Lynn’s hand threw outward. Her magic levitated the glass and it slowly rose upward and sat down on the table. The guy fell into the seat and then hit the ground. “Thought so…” Lynn spoke and sighed softly.
The men that had gathered picked up the mans body and tossed him outside… then the bar went back to being settled.
“Let’s have 2 of your local wheat citrus beers” Lynn spoke. The bar tender poured two and set it down.
“You come to a bar – you drink beer” Lynn spoke and then smiled. She reached to the orange slice and squeezed it into the yellowish colored beer. “Cheers” Lynn held her glass up and then took a sip. She grinned and leaned back on the stool.
“Its….unfortunate. The world out here isn’t the same as the castle. Thugs and brutes are every where, and they always get their way…. Especially with women…” she glanced to Amalliey and then blushed slightly. “And uh… sorry for the .. you know. I didn’t want to startle him, the last thing I want is a bar fight. Some people feast on that energy…” she took another sip and then looked to the bar table.
“So, Amalliey. I know these circumstances are no fun, of course but…. You have the freedom to see the world and do what you will. I think… along the way we should live it up.. visit places, do things… I heard you even trained – magic and sword combat… I’m a little proud..” she grinned and took another big sip.

Amalliey looked to the drink as the man set it down in front of her. She furrowed her brows slightly. “I…um…” She lifted it into her hands and looked to the liquid within the glass. It was just as she was about to taste it that she felt an arm around her and the glass was taken from her hands. Amalliey turned to look just as Lynn pressed her lips to her cheek. Amalliey’s cheeks turned a rosy pink, her eyes widened slightly. She looked to Lynn as this all played out, she didn’t speak. Her eyes stayed on the Archmage, her jaw slightly slack. Amalliey followed Lynn’s lead, she stood right next to her, her eyes looked to the man as he finally was pushed into drinking the drink that he’d brought her from the bar. Her eyes widened as he fell unconscious, she watched as Lynn moved the glass to the table.
She stayed silent as she moved with Lynn and looked to the pint before her. She looked to the liquid as it fizzed to the orange slice that Lynn had squeezed into it fore her. Amalliey then raised her glass to Lynn and clinked it together before she took a sip. She set the pint back down, she made a bit of a contorted face before she listened to Lynn. Amalliey blushed and looked away slightly when Lynn mentioned the kiss again. “Oh…” She spoke, “You saved me, Lynn, n-no reason to apologize. I should be thanking you.” She looked back to Lynn, her cheeks still pink. “Thank you Lynn. I am still an easy target for the world…being cooped up in the castle has done me no favors. I am not sure how my mother and….” She furrowed her brows as she thought of the king, “The king….I’m not sure how they thought I was to grow to be the next queen of Askabar, what with little experience I have in the real world. I can read about it, I can listen, and I can be taught. But, it…it is a lot like magic, it is an everchanging thing, something that you must experience. I will never get good at this world unless I experience it. Right?” The princess looked to her, her cheeks still slightly pink. She took another sip of the beer as she fell silent. She looked around the pub again, taking in the sights.
Amalliey looked to Lynn when she suggested to visit places…she thought for a moment and then a warm smile curved up her lips as she stared into Lynn’s eyes a moment. “Exploring, learning and seeing new things.” She let out a laugh. “I have always had dreams of adventuring, going anywhere but the castle, anywhere away from Askabar.” She shook her head. “I feel as if I am yet again in another dream…none of this feels real to me.” She took another sip of the beer, the taste was growing on her.
She blushed a bit when Lynn mentioned that it made her proud that she trained. “Oh yes, my father started it…and I asked Lionel to show me a few things with a sword. I have always wanted to learn the art of sword combat, it is like a dance. I’ve watched them in the tournaments. It is an incredible thing to see, such calculated moves, such a short amount of time to react. Yet they remain fluid in their movements. Me?” She shook her head and took another drink, “I am clumsy as Lionel said. My movements are not fluid by any means. He said I need to work on how I hold the sword, I just could not get it right. I can dance, I can walk, I am well versed in the art of speech and writing, yet I can not handle a sword, nor can I venture into a pub alone without a wonderful Archmage coming to my rescue.” Her cheeks were pink, though, not from blushing this time, she’d nearly drink her entire pint during the conversation. She set her glass down as she took the last drink. The bartender poured her another one, a dark beer she couldn’t see through it. Amalliey lifted the glass.
“Go on. You’ll like this one. It is rich, full bodied, it has a well rounded flavor.” The bartender smiled. “If you hate it, I’ll pour you another wheat.” He winked before he began making another drink for another customer.
Amalliey took a drink and a smile split her lips. “This is incredible.” She looked to Lynn and giggled slightly. “Why have I not tried beer before?” She shook her head. “My father always required me to drink wine or champagne at the balls, I’ve never even seen beer until now. I’ve heard the knights speak of it.” She leaned back in her chair, her head was light. “This is such a funny feeling.” She giggled again. “Oh!” Amalliey looked to Lynn then, a smile on her lips. “Thank you for saving me, all of the time. It must be exhausting.” She shook her head and chuckled slightly before she took another sip of her beer.

Lynn chuckled and finished off her drink. She was feeling slightly light headed – but it took a little more to get her tipsy. She smiled as Amalliey spoke about her training. “Everyone starts some where….” She smiled and then accepted another glass of wheat beer. “I trained in the specialty of Battle-Mage. This means my magic doesn’t have much practicality outside of battle… I learned sword combat. I am not as skilled as a Knight per say, but I use a combination of magic to aid me in battle… Perhaps that is what you need, hm?” she took another sip and smiled happily.
“And… Saving you gives me something worthwhile to do… I much rather be here by your side than crammed in my office reading, or watching the wells… This is more exciting, that is for sure…” she paused for a moment and then took another sip. “I think I rather enjoy being around you – for the sake that there are no formalities or… well… You are not aware of my fame, which is delightful. I suppose you must feel the same outside of the castle walls…”
“Ahh… a stout beer, thick and rich… you should taste some unique flavors.. Chocolate, Coffee, some malt, It’s a little heavier though. I can’t drink too many, it’s a great dessert drink or perhaps the last drink of the night” she winked “It’s a little stronger than the beer we had a moment ago…” she took another sip and listened to more of what Amalliey had to say.
“It is hard to imagine what is out there… when you have no idea, huh?” she grinned “I think… there is much more to you than just a cute Princess… I think there is potential in you far greater than your heritage provides. Anyone can have power… but you have to wield it for the right reasons…” she finished off her drink and then held her hand out.
“Come on… the best part after a good drink Is the walk after” she took Amalliey’s hand. She quickly dug into her pocket and dropped a few golden coins on the table. Well enough to cover the cost, tip, and then a little more. She lead Amalliey out of the bar… it was just sunset as they walked out. The temperature had dropped a little, and a gentle breeze came from afar.
Lynn lead them up the street, there was a hill that crest a little higher than the city. They walked slowly, enjoying the gentle light headed tipsy feeling. “I think… as much as we didn’t want this to happen – it was meant to happen. Fate, perhaps… but you know… I go back and think about my time at the tower and I… don’t really miss it” she laughed and looked to Amalliey.
“I regret the things I had to do, and the pain and suffering for you.. and others…” she sighed softly. “But we will make things right. I have been trained to feel the balance of magic.. it surrounds us. Magic tends to warn us about… everything. People, connections, actions, the future… Around you – I feel peace, magic is still and comfortable. This is… a very rare thing. Perhaps its…” she looked to Amalliey for a long moment… “perhaps its just you” she smiled then.
They walked up the hill until they got to the crest. The hill was lifted just slightly over the small village. They could look directly down the valley – the sun setting in the distance… Lynn smiled and then sat down on a bench that was placed, directly for this view. “Ah…” she stretched her arms out and smirked. “All I want… is to leave a lasting impression. I want people to remember me… and what I did and accomplished. You know? I sorta want people to say in the future ‘What would Lynn do?’” she laughed and looked over to Amalliey.
“Some tell me that I am foolish… because I give so much up for this dream but… that is what I want. I wouldn’t trade anything for it…” she leaned back in the bench and looked up to the sky. It was beginning to change from red and pink to a cool dark, the stars began to appear and light up the sky…
“If you could have… absolutely anything. What would it be?” she pondered aloud, her eyes still counting the stars…

Amalliey giggled slightly after she finished her drink. She could feel her body loosen, her mind ease. “I can not imagine you stuck inside of an office, just reading.” She smiled brightly. “You are so much more than that to me, Lynn. I may not know of your fame, but remember I was locked away.” She shook her head. “There are a lot of things that I do not know, or that I am not aware of.” When Lynn finished speaking and offered her hand to Amalliey she took it, a blush crossed her cheeks again as they walked out the door.
Amalliey looked to Lynn as they walked up the hill. “I don’t miss the castle at all.” She furrowed her brows and straightened up. “Stand upright Amalliey, talk like a lady Amalliey, change this, do that.” She imitated the king bossing her around. “My entire life has been spent under the command of the king…a man that always found something wrong in me…” She sighed slightly. “Everything that I have done up until this point has been by his command, like a puppet. Except the time that I spent with my mother. Yet, even that was in secret, it was not something that he fully allowed.”
The princess fell silent then as Lynn spoke of the balance of magic. She looked up to the stars as the orange and pink of the sun began to disappear. She bought her eyes to meet Lynn’s as she listened a smile curved up her lips. She let out a soft laugh when Lynn said that the balance could be her. “I am not entirely sure balance is my forte.” She grinned to Lynn for a long moment before she relaxed and looked to the stars that were piercing through the darkness in the sky. “I thought that, when you were unconscious.” She spoke and fumbled with her hands slightly. “When my father was training me, I wondered what you would do, how you would solve something. You…you’re so good at everything…” She shook her head and let out a soft laugh. “I believe that after all of this, after we have completed the quest, the world of Algut will remember you, how could one not? You have already done so much, and yet we are only at the tip.” She relaxed a bit more, her head light, she was comfortable. She’d not relaxed before this. She’d always been a bit uptight, holding her composure. But now, she laughed she smiled. This was a side of Amalliey that Lynn hadn’t gotten a chance to see, that very few had ever seen. The king was always cracking the whip, yelling at her on every turn when she made a tiny mistake. She had always been afraid of mistakes…she’d never allow herself a moment of bliss.
Amalliey took in a slow breath when Lynn asked the question. She bit her lip slightly. She thought for a long moment about this and then shook her head. “So many things, yet I can only pick one because in the end, there is only one that truly matters. Right?.” She spoke after a few moments. “The one thing that I wish I could have is the freedom of my mother’s spirit from my pendant…” She fell quiet then, it pained her to think that her mother was gone, and yet her mother was still there, trapped within the beautiful jewel upon her necklace.

Lynn looked to Amalliey as she spoke, she listened… She blushed and even chuckled when Amalliey said that she had thought of Lynn…she titled her head as she watched Amalliey. Some overwhelming feeling filled her… perhaps it was the drinks, or the lovely night… Lynn looked back out to the darkness and let out a soft sigh.
“You know though” she paused for a second… “That’s what we are going to do” she stood then and stepped forward… her eyes looked down to the small town, the moon light cascaded down over the roofstops and streets. “Dragons and their Riders are eternal…Your mother’s spirit didn’t disappear… instead it went in your necklace… that’s not normal. She planned that…My theory is that… Your mother is a powerful mage… I think she has something up her sleeve… otherwise… why linger?” she turned and smiled. “I know I didn’t do…. What I did … on my own choice… but I feel guilty and responsible. If I do anything in the world… its that I’m going to find a way to release your mother. Im going to find a way for you, your mother, and your father – to be united. I won’t take no for an answer”
She then stepped a little closer to the bench and held her hand out again. “Come on… we should head back before your dad starts to wonder” she helped her up and then slowly lead her down the hill…
They stopped infront of the Inn and Lynn paused. “Outside of the Castle.. what we just experienced is pretty close to a ‘date’. Normally… I would lead you to your home, and then kiss you outside of your door. I would walk all the way home and beam about it all. And hope to god the next day you still remember me” she blushed and then laughed. “I’m not saying…. That this is a date but… I figured you know… I ..” she laughed then. “I’m a little tipsy…” she grinned then and shook her head. “I figured you’d want to know… what it is like” she then leaned forward and kissed Amalliey’s cheek, the one she had not kissed yet…
“I would be a fool to say that you are not beautiful…” she spoke in a soft voice and then grinned. “Come on… we should head to bed.” She opened the door to the inn and traveled up the stairs.. They came to their room, it was split – Girls and Boys.. “Oh, this is awkward huh? Same room huh? Can’t hide from my mistakes now” she winked and then pulled her cape off, then her boots, her gauntlets, and chest piece. Soon she was in just a tunic and pants.. she climbed into the bed….
*** “She thinks she has gotten away…” The Demon Lord spoke, standing in the middle of the throne room. “I saw the Princess, she intruded on my efforts to track the mage…” he laughed. “They were in Alexandria… So, I will send troops… we will begin to find them” he grinned “and follow their little trail in a blaze of glory. Every city shall fall.. and their guilt will overrun them”
The King grinned and nodded. “Excellent… Find them and attack them. Get a tracker on them… but leave them alive. Let them know we are coming… They’ll move faster to wherever theyre headed… then we can take over whatever it is theyre planning….”
“As you command…” The Demon held his hands up. A Rune formed under his feet, and a large circle was painted in glowing red colors. Around him a group of Red Demons began to form. They had huge horns that came from their skulls and pointed outward. They had huge bulky beefy bodies, much like a human, with hooves and a tail. They all shouted and then they became covered in armor… Pointy plate armor that seem to glow slightly.
“Find them” he pointed out…

Amalliey stared into Lynn’s eyes a gentle smile curved up her lips as she spoke of Elanor and how they would save her. How Lynn wouldn’t give up until she’d done just that. Amalliey took in a breath when she’d finished speaking, she looked to the moon that was rising up into the sky. “We should, he seems the type to worry.” She gave a light chuckle and took Lynn’s hand. Something about taking her hand gave her a swirl of sensation through her body. “There is no reason to feel guilty, Lynn. You would have never even dreamed of rising the demon or even killing my mother had you not been put into the position to do such a thing…though.” She paused as they headed toward the inn. “If anything, I am glad that it was you, Lynn and not someone else. If it was another mage I believe I would have died, the circumstances were fate, as you said. What has happened, it was meant to happen.” She paused a moment, “Being cooped up in the castle I spent a lot of time reading, I read through nearly every book in that vast library that we have in the castle. Fate is mentioned by the greats in their adventures. If it was not for fate, I would not stand here.” She gave a nod. She then let out a laugh, “I apologize, I seem to be rambling.” She bowed her head slightly as they came to the inn.
It was then that Lynn spoke. The words that poured over Lynn’s lips caused Amalliey to blush, a smile curved up her lips as she looked into Lynn’s eyes. Her cheeks became hot like fire when Lynn leaned forward and kissed her cheek. Her eyes widened slightly, her pulse skipped within her chest, she felt as though she couldn’t breathe for a moment. Amalliey blushed deeper when Lynn complimented her. She’d never received such treatment. She’d never felt the strange tumble within her stomach. “Th-thank you, Lynn…” She spoke just before they headed up to the room.
Amalliey let out a giggle as she sat down on her bed. “Mistake. I am fairly certain that what you did was not by accident.” She grinned, her smile playful. She slipped her boots off and tugged at all the buckles that held her leather armor and corset in place. She eventually ended up in the blouse and the black tights. She sat down on her bed and pondered a moment, her cheeks still pink. “If you could have anything, what would it be Lynn?” She asked curiously.

Lynn chuckled as Amalliey pointed out that what she had done was on purpose. She smiled to herself – happy that Amalliey agreed… it was not a mistake. It meant that Amalliey felt the same, on some kind of level… Lynn rolled over and looked to Amalliey, her hand propped her head up as she thought for a moment…
“It’s a tough question… My whole life I’ve ever known the Circle, and training to eventually become the Grand Master. Some people would consider that their answer… but I don’t want to burn my answer up just yet. There is much I haven’t done… thing’s I’ve never experienced. If you asked me now… I’d say – I’d want to open up a public magi school, some where further away… for those with gifts… To join the Circle you must be invited, and so on. So many mages suffer because they don’t receive the proper training to control their abilities…” she paused and then chuckled.
“But perhaps in a month my answer might change. I’ve come across you now, and your father, the kingdom, and soon the world… My hopes and dreams could change, and I welcome that possibility” she spoke and then laid her head down. “But for now… I think sleep. Beer makes me sleepy” she chuckled and then brought the blanket up to her face, snuggling it. She curled into it and fell asleep swiftly.
Her dreams were silent – too silent. Generally she always dreamed of something, of which she often could control in some fashion. But the fact that she did not dream at all was uncomfortable… Morning came swiftly and she felt confused for a moment. She slowly stood up and moved to the center of the room. She sat down and then crossed her legs… she placed her hands on her knees and shut her eyes. She took In a deep breath and let it out slowly… Her eyes then began to glow – a yellow color. Her body swirled with her power…
She suddenly shifted out of her trance – she stood up swiftly and paced for a moment. She dashed into the living room and then to Xavier. “I cannot enter the Phase” she spoke and then sat down on the couch. Xavier looked to her and then sat down on the other couch.
“Why do you think so?” He wondered aloud.
“I’ve been tainted by the Demon… I feel like corrupted magic lingering in the back… I’m not 100%..” she whispered and then covered her face slightly…

Amalliey leaned back on her bed, she crossed her arms behind her head and stared at the ceiling as she listened to Lynn speak. “That’s true, that one wish could change each day, really, couldn’t it?” She smiled. “Good night Lynn.” She curled into her own blankets and fell into a deep sleep.
She stood in an empty valley, the blades of grass danced about in the gentle breeze. She looked to the sky, it was a beautiful blue, a few puffy white clouds, but otherwise calm.
“Amalliey.” Elanor spoke, a gust of wind pushed against her tossing her hair into her face as she spun around to see her mother. “You can’t relax.” Her voice was soft. “Don’t let your guard down, Amalliey.”
Amalliey looked to her mother, shackles wrapped around her wrists. “Mother?” She asked softly. “What’s happening?” She questioned as she stepped forward thunder sounded. The sky darkened almost instantly, a harsh wind kicked up as lightning struck around her. “Mother?!” She called over the ferocious weather.
“He knows about you!” Elanor spoke. “He’ll send his soldiers, he knows what you are, Amalliey!” She cried.
The world in front of Amalliey began to separate. She stumbled and took a step back as the earth opened up forming a huge crack between her and her mother. She stared down over the edge to lava that ran through the crack below her. “Who?” Amalliey cried. She looked around, trying to figure out how to get to her mother.
“The demon.” He mother cried before she disappeared into the shadows.
Amalliey spun around, her eyes swirled with fire. Ryuk appeared in a burst of flames next to her. He roared and then grasped her in his talons. He tossed her easily onto his back before he took off into the sky. Amalliey gripped onto him, leaning her head forward as the wind rushed around her. “What’s happening?” She asked the dragon as he soared through the sky.
Ryuk dipped down beneath the clouds. In the distance she could see something. As they grew closer she could make out the figure. Lynn remained in this shadow world, wrapped in shadows once again. Ryuk let out a roar as he darted through the air.
Suddenly she felt a tight hold around her neck. Amalliey was ripped from Ryuk’s back. She tried to scream as she tumbled through the air toward the ground. She slammed harshly against it and everything faded to black.
Amalliey sat up, her breathing heavy, her eyes wide. She’d even let out a cry just before the end of the dream. She looked around the room, Lynn was gone. “Lynn?” She questioned, her voice trembled. She held her hand to her neck for a moment and winced, her neck was in pain. She stood and moved to the dresser where she looked to her neck in the mirror. She could see bruising appearing near her collarbone that wrapped around her throat. Her eyes widened slightly. “Mother…” She breathed. Her mother was only trying to warn her of the danger that she was in. That world…the shadows…the darkness was encompassing.
**
The demon chuckled. “That was easier than I thought.” He smirked as he reached forward to a knight that stood guard. He gripped the man by his chest plate and looked into his eyes before he let out a hearty laugh. “You fear me?” He questioned and smirked. “Good.” He then snapped the knight’s neck in one swift movement. The gate lord walked through the castle and found the king on his throne. “Do you know what your daughter is?” He questioned, his eyes serious.
The king looked to him, “What do you mean? Does this have to do with where they are going?”
“Oh yes, it has everything to do with their direction of travel.” The demon spoke, “The princess is a dragon mage.”
“Dragons are all dead.” The king shot back.
“Not her dragon.” The demon chuckled. “Though, I’ve already planted a seed in her mind, causing her to doubt herself. It will aid us in her capture.”
“How?” The king asked, curious.
“It was easier to get into her mind than I thought it would be.” The demon spoke. “Oh, I almost forgot.” He snapped his fingers a few times. The demon soldiers that were headed to find the princess turned into normal human looking figures. To blend in. Though beneath their fake skin demons hid. “Go on now, find the princess, follow her to the chest of Azazel. When they find it, kill them all and bring me the Azazel Mage.” The demon snickered. “I’ll have fun with this one.” The demon them hummed slightly. “Castile.” He spoke.
A demon stepped forward, he looked much like a human, though he had golden eyes. He had medium short black hair and a neatly trimmed beard that ran along his jaw. “Yes your greatness.” He bowed deeply.
The gate lord snickered. “Go on with the others. Only, I want you to befriend the princess.” He smirked. “Entrance her for me, make her weak.”
The demon looked to his master, a devilish grin on his face. “Of course, master.” He spoke before he turned and ran off after the other demons.
**
“Princess?” Lionel knocked on the door. “Princess, are you awake?” He pushed in slowly.
Amalliey had dressed herself. She stood before the mirror, still looking to her bruising. She glanced to him and straightened. “Yes, yes I apologize, Sir Lionel.”
Lionel looked to her, his eyes concerned. “What is that?” He asked as he looked to the bruising around her neck.
“I…had a dream.” Amalliey spoke and pushed passed him into the hallway. She moved through the inn until she found her father and Lynn. She walked in for the last few words. “The demon…” Amalliey spoke.
Xavier looked to her, he instantly noticed the purple around her throat. “Amalliey…” He stood and stepped to her, looking closer. “What happened?” He looked to Lynn and then back to his daughter.
“I had a dream…mother was in shackles…she told me he knew, the demon knew what I am…and I…” She looked to Lynn for a long moment. “I found you, Lynn, you were being strangled by shadows that wrapped around your entire body like living tentacles…” She took in a shaken breath. “I went to help and then suddenly I was gripped around my throat and slammed to the ground from Ryuk’s back…”
Xavier crossed his arms, he paced slightly. He looked to Lynn with worried eyes. “We can not go to the Mist Forest yet…” He spoke softly. “I can’t lose you Lynn.” He spoke and searched her eyes, “And Amalliey, I won’t let the demon get a hold of you either.” He looked to Lionel whom had followed Amalliey down the stairs. “We must go to Firebend.”
“Firebend?” Lionel asked. “What is that?”
“It is an ancient city. Long ago it was lost during the war with the gate lord, it was demolished. What is left is still in ruins, but there are a few that live there still. We need to speak to Rakalis, she is an old mage, older than Lendon was. She will know what to do. She will be able to extract his darkness from you.” Xavier spoke, his eyes looked over Lynn. “We will fix this, I promise.” He touched her shoulder for a moment.
“Where is Firebend?” Amalliey asked.
“It is to the south, it will take a few days to reach, but we have no choice. This must be done before the demon is able to get his grips tighter on her.” Xavier spoke. “Only a few know how to get to Firebend, I’ve been there so many times I know the path by heart.”
Lionel thought a moment. “I’ve heard Elanor speak Rakalis’ name before.” He spoke, “A long time ago.”
Xavier gave a nod, “She and Rakalis go back a long time.” He gently smiled. “Come on, we need to get on the road.” He spoke and led them from the inn. They walked from the city and he led them onto a back mountain pathway.
Amalliey was silent, she couldn’t stop thinking about the dream she’d had. She ran her fingertips over the bruising on her neck as she thought about it. She’d felt so helpless. She was so weak. She looked to Lynn with worried eyes before they pressed on. “Father…” She spoke as she walked next to him. “Why would I have that dream?” She asked and looked to him.
“Your mother was trying to warn you, to show you what is happening around you, the things that you can not feel yet. One day you will.” He looked ahead. “When you pulled Lynn from the darkness…did you see the demon?” He asked softly.
“Yes, I did…” Amalliey responded.
“Was Ryuk there when the demon was?” He looked to her and watched for her nod. Xavier took in a slow breath. “His soldiers will be at our heels. We must remain vigilant, he knows what you are now so I imagine he will stop at nothing to kill you.”
Amalliey slowly nodded, “If I had listened…” She spoke.
“No…” Xavier looked to her again, “If you listened to me, Lynn may be dead. You saved her, what you did was brave and strong…” He looked back ahead. “Do not regret what you do in the past, only look forward to prevent mistakes in your future based on the accidents you made in the past.”
Amalliey gave a slow nod. “I understand.” She spoke as they climbed up a hill. They were coming into a town. A small mountain village that was hidden in the pines and huge boulders. They had been traveling all day.
Xavier leaned against the wall outside of the inn, he looked to Lionel whom was exhausted. He then looked to his daughter and finally to Lynn. “Be careful if you leave the inn.” He warned. “We will stay here until daylight, tomorrow we press on toward Firebend. We will begin descent tomorrow and soon we will be among the heat of the desert.”
Amalliey watched her father a moment. “I’ve never been to the desert…” She spoke.
Xavier gave a smile. “It’s hot.” He responded and yawned. “I think I’m going to turn in.” He spoke and headed in. “I’ll pay the room fee.” He slipped inside.
Amalliey stood for a moment, she looked to Lynn. “Are you feeling okay?” She asked, curious. She waivered slightly and her eyes glazed over.
Elanor stepped forward from the bustle of the city. The people that walked up and down the street behind her froze. “Amalliey, you must be careful.” She spoke, her voice still fearful. “You are in danger.” She glanced around a second before she disappeared.
Amalliey took in a quick breath and shook her head slightly. “I…” She stumbled backward slightly, having lost balance from the vision. Suddenly she was slammed into. Amalliey toppled to the ground tangled in with the person. She landed on her back with a cry.
“My lady!” The man exclaimed, his eyes wide. His armor was heavy against her. He scrambled to his feet and helped lift her back up. “My lady my apologies!” He spoke quickly.
Amalliey looked to him, she brushed herself off slightly. He was a royal knight of some sort. He wore blue and gold armor with a fur pelt along his right shoulder. Though, his eyes are what caught her voice in her throat. “I…Oh…” Amalliey stared into his eyes then. His eyes were an entrancing golden color.
“Are you alright?” He asked and took a step back, people rushed around them. He carefully ushered her to the side of the street and glanced to Lynn a quick moment before he turned his attention back to Amalliey. “My lady?” He asked.
Amalliey stared at him a moment. “Oh. I…” She couldn’t look away from his eyes. “I am okay.” She gave a nod.
The knight gave a smile. “Oh good…” He stared at her for a moment. “May I make it up to you?” He asked with a grin. He paused only for a second. “Come with me to dinner.” He searched her eyes. “I will treat you, to make up for my mistake.” He glanced to Lynn again. “Meet me at the Ragnarok in an hour, if you do not show I’ll know the answer.” He then rushed off into the crowd.
Amalliey blinked a few times. “Um…” She stared to Lynn then. “I…” She shook her head. “Lynn…” She furrowed her brows. She stepped back to Lynn and brushed more dirt off of her clothing, she was startled still from the knight crashing into her.

“Amalliey!” Lynn called out and rushed forward to help her – but the knight shifted up. Lynn crossed her arms and watched the two… her eyes looked over his for a moment and then she observed his armor. When he offered Dinner – Lynn scoffed out loud.
“I apologize Sir Knight, my apprentice has other matters to tend to…” she walked over and placed hand on Amalliey’s back. “You should be more careful…” she lead her away. As they walked away Lynn pursed her lips slightly. “Seems a little off” she spoke softly. “His eyes are Trancing, in a way that is enhanced by magic, I noticed it’s effect on you… then to run into you. I wonder if he does that often as a way to pick up women…” she sighed and then thought for a moment. “I’ve never seen Yellow eyes like that…”
“Come…. I will teach you to Phase…I think with your help, I might be able to as well…” she waved Amalliey over… They walked into the Inn and Xavier turned around – he was buying a few drinks. “Ladies” he smiled.
“I am going to teach Amalliey to Phase… I would like you to watch over us” She spoke. Xavier looked to her and then nodded. “Very well” he replied and they walked up into their room. Xavier poured himself a glass of whiskey and opened a book – one that he stole from Lynn.
“Lets sit on the ground..” Lynn lead Amalliey to sit. “Very powerful mages need to Phase. In between our world, and the dead realm, is what we call the Phase. It is where Magic resides… It is where a powerful Mage goes to become one with Magic itself, to find the balance. Magic is always making it’s way to us, we must occasionally make our way to magic, you understand?” She reached her hands forward and grasped Amallieys.
“I spoke of being tainted… I wanted to venture into the Phase. When we travel there… you will know what I mean. The way it feels… I cannot describe it…”
“So first… we must become at peace with ourselves… We must breath in a cyclic fashion, in and out smoothly. As we do this – try and draw your power to your chest, let it flow and circulate like the air you are breathing. Its like warming up the oven before you put the cake in…” she spoke in a soft voice…
“I will initiate the phase… when I do… Channel your power to me, and I will channel mine back. We will become one magical unit…” she whispered. She drew her powers and slowly let it flow into Amalliey… she could feel Amalliey’s power in return, it was powerful and warm…
“Close your eyes… In a moment you will feel… a really different feeling in your chest. That is the beginning to the transition to the Phase. Our Spirits will merge with our magic, and slip into the Phase. We will experience the Phase as an image of ourself, moving freely – while our body sits here…” she spoke softly. She then began the process…
“Now… Let yourself relax…” she spoke softly. Then like a body falling into water – slowly rising up, the feeling of floating in the air… The Phase began…
Lynn opened her eyes – still holding Amalliey’s hand. They were both shimmering blue images of their former selves. “Amalliey” she spoke. They stood in a lush green forest where the trees grew extremely tall – forest fairies flew in the air and fluttered around. Wisps and the alike drifted around. Above their head was a milky-way of colors and magic, flowing in the air slowly, naturally.
“Do you feel that?” Lynn touched her stomach and smiled. It was a peaceful feeling, blissful, full of life. “This is the Phase, land of magic. Don’t let go of my hand, okay?” she spoke as they turned towards the forest. “When you come here… it is like reconnecting your alignment with magic, when we return to our bodies… we will feel more in touch with it. It is necessary to come here – when ever you are feeling torn, to rekindle your connection” she spoke and nodded. “I will have more control of my powers when I return, as the taint was trying to over power my magic…” she spoke softly and they walked through the forest.
“When you enter the Phase… you can only return to your body at the place you entered.” She turned and 2 portals were floating in the air. “No one can enter those but you. But if you were to get lost… then you would become a Wandering Mage, they call it… An if you spend too much time here… you can lose your mind – much like Lendon did… The tempting part is – some of the answers rest in the Phase. This world is as big as ours, with many lands, buildings, spirits to talk to, other lost mages to meet…” she spoke and then smiled. “It is an amazing thing… that this even exists..” she whispered. “Often I come.. just to get away…”
“No Demons can enter here, they are of the demonic realm. Only magic, and that is it. Demons are not of magic, but have magic like powers… it is not the same, they fuel off of Hell itself. While we mages fuel off of the Phase” she spoke. “Do you remember when I talked about maintaining the Magic Wells? Naturally around the world the Phase and our World collide, creating Magic Wells. The Circle of the Magi were founded on the idealogy of protecting these wells, reading them, and being there when the Phase needed us, or vice versa…” she spoke.
They walked in between two giant trees – their footsteps over a path of entirely giant roots. She smiled and looked to Amalliey for a moment. “Ryuk is here you know… Ryuk might be stuck in your necklace but he can Phase too… Calling him will not use your magic at all… this is a great place to commune without without hurting you… Try it… Call him..”

Amalliey took in a breath as she was tugged away. She couldn’t pull her eyes from the knight. She watched as his back disappeared into the crowd. “I…” Amalliey leaned against Lynn slightly as she was pulled toward the inn. She held her hand to her head, she was light headed. “His eyes…” She spoke her voice soft. She allowed herself to be pulled into the inn. Her mind felt like it was in a cloudy fog.
“The phase…” Amalliey spoke and gave a nod. She blinked a few times as she looked to her father. She gave a gentle smile as she watched him take a drink from his scotch. She turned and sat with Lynn on the floor. Her eyes were slightly glazed over. She crossed her legs and took in a deep breath, trying to regain her focus, she couldn’t stop thinking about the knight. Why?
Amalliey placed her hands in Lynn’s and listened. She shut her eyes and began to regain her focus. She did as Lynn said, following her instructions as best as she could. The feeling was incredible as she was pulled into the phase with Lynn. She looked around the world. “Oh wow…” She spoke. “This place…it’s so beautiful…” She breathed. She looked to Lynn, she could feel the amazing feeling, her body felt full of energy. She gave a nod. “I won’t let go Lynn.” The fog was completely gone from her mind. She listened to her as they moved around, she glanced to the portals.
When Lynn told her to summon Ryuk Amalliey took in a breath. She shut her eyes and focused. Her pendant began to glow red. She opened her eyes and fire swirled within her iris’ as she stared forward. Suddenly a ball of flame appeared before them and Ryuk burst from the flames. He let out a growl and then let out a long breath of hot air. It pushed Amalliey’s hair back, she smiled. This was the clearest she’d seen him. It felt so real, yet this world was so different.
Amalliey. Ryuk stared to her with his fiery eyes. He then looked to Lynn, his wings relaxed against his back. Lynn the Archmage of the Magi Circle. He stared to her for a long moment before he looked back to Amalliey. He nudged her chest with his snout and then he lay down before them. Something seems different about you, young mage. He looked to Amalliey, his eyes almost judgmental.
Amalliey furrowed her brows, she held onto Lynn’s hand a bit tighter. “Different?” She asked softly.
The dragon stared to her with his fiery eyes. Yes, something is off…
Amalliey shook her head and looked to Lynn, confused. “Is there something wrong with me?” She asked softly. Ryuk could sense something within her, though he couldn’t place it.
**
“Did you do it?” The gate lord spoke, his image appeared in a pond of water.
“I am trying.” The knight spoke, Castile. “The mage girl that the princess is with seems to be a problem, I had her, and she was stolen away by this mage.” He crossed his arms.
“Don’t fail me, Castile, I would hate to have to punish you again for another failure.” The gate lord warned before his image disappeared.
Castile paced slightly, he let out a long sigh. “Come on.” He spoke to himself as he headed back into town. “You were mine, I just have to convince you.” He smirked as he thought. He walked to the market and bought a single beautiful red rose before he walked to the restaurant that he’d mentioned to Amalliey. “You’ll come.” He told himself as he walked inside and found himself a table. He set the rose across the table from himself for her and he leaned back in the chair.

Lynn glanced to Ryuk and thought for a long moment. “Do you think it has anything to do with this mysterious knight?” she furrowed her eyebrows. Lynn then sighed softly. “Well… I have someone I both want you to meet, though Ryuk – you likely already know her…” She spoke and then held her hand out. She let out a burst of energy – a giant green beam shot from her palm.
There was a crystal like sound, like a harp playing in the distance. A body appeared before them – a woman… an Elf. She bowed her head “Lynn” the woman spoke and then she glanced to the dragon. She smile brightly “Ryuk, it is such a pleasure to see you. You being here means… it has began, hasn’t it?” She questioned and then smiled brightly.
“Amalliey, this is Ysera. She is an Azazel mage who became lost in the Phase…” she spoke. “Ysera, Amalliey is the last Azazel mage alive… Ryuk is her dragon… We are currently in search of the Dragon Souls…” Lynn spoke.
Ysera walked over to Amalliey and peered to her necklace. “Another soul lingers as well… who is stored within your necklace? It feels familiar…” she whispered aloud.
“Elanor” Lynn spoke and smiled.
“It felt familiar… Elanor…” she whispered and frowned. “Is that mean she has passed?”
“Unfortunately… but her soul lingers…”
“Amalliey…” she smiled then “Elanor trained me, I was her apprentice for a long time..” she smiled and then nodded. “So…You want me to go out and find what I can, hm?” Ysera questioned aloud.
“Yes… anything you can. Disturbances… any information. We are not sure yet how to release the souls once we find them… hopefully we can be one step ahead by the time we get there, hm?” Lynn questioned.
Ysera nodded and then smiled “It is nice to be apart of the world again, I will make a difference this way…” she then disappeared into a green fog.
“Let us make our way back… Ryuk… Farewell for now..” Lynn spoke and they traveled back to their portal. They stepped inside…
Lynn gasped as she returned to her body. Her hand slipped from Amalliey’s and she smiled. “Thank you.. Amalliey. I needed to return to the phase, and I couldn’t have done it with out your help. I feel more in control now…” she spoke and then slowly stood. “Xavier… We came across a very unique Knight earlier… He had yellow eyes that were enchanted… I figured you should know… he is a mysterious character. He asked Amalliey to go out to dinner, after promptly running her over… I am curious about this man…. Nothing, especially now… is coincidence….” She glanced to Amalliey for a second…

“That knight…” Amalliey furrowed her brows, “I…” She shook her head, his eyes in her mind once again. She shut her eyes for a moment as Lynn summoned the elf. She stared to the woman. “Another Azazel Mage…” She whispered, a smile curved up her lips. She listened to the conversation between the two. Her fingertips clasped around her pendant, she looked down as she thought of her mother yet again. “I hope she finds something.” Amalliey nodded and then looked to her dragon. He looked to them, he was calm here, not as violent as all the times she’d summoned him. He let out a grunt and stood, he leaped into the air and disappeared into a burst of fire. Amalliey stepped through the portal with Lynn then.
She gasped for air, her hands gripped onto Lynn’s tightly for a moment, she stared to her allowing Lynn’s hands to slip from hers. “Of course.” Amalliey nodded, she blinked a few times.
Xavier marked the page in his book and looked to Lynn. “Yellow eyes…” He spoke, thinking.
Amalliey stood and walked to the window, she looked outside of the inn to the city as people moved about. She had her arms crossed, she appeared to be deep in thought.
Xavier watched his daughter a moment. “I’ve only seen yellow eyes once.” He responded and looked to Lynn. “There is never a coincidence in this world, I taught you that.” He smirked then. “The man I met with yellow eyes was an ancient soul…he was an angel, a fallen angel actually.” He finished off his scotch and looked back to where Amalliey had been standing. He stood and glanced around. “Where did she go?” He looked to Lionel whom was asleep in the chair next to him, his head lay on the bar.
**
Amalliey walked through the streets of the city, her eyes looked up to the moon as it rose in the sky. She moved about with the people, she was like a flower floating upon the surface of a stream, she was pushed around this way and that with the movement of the city. “Ragnarok.” She spoke and pulled from the group. She stood outside of the restaurant for a moment before she went in. She had such an overwhelming feeling to speak with this knight. To find out who he was. She’d never felt like this. She stepped in and looked around.
A young man dressed in a nice tunic and pants stepped up to her. “Good evening, my lady. Your knight awaits, he told me you would be coming.” The waiter spoke and led her back into the restaurant. She looped around a wall and found herself in front of him within a few moments. She sat down at the table, her eyes looked to the rose for a moment before she looked up to him, her breath once again caught in her chest.
Castile looked to her a smile upon his lips. “Did you have to escape to come see me? Or did that mage allow you to come?” He watched her, his eyes glowed slightly.
Amalliey took in a sharp breath and looked away, “I…I…” She stuttered, her mind filled with a haze. She shook her head then.
Castile chuckled, he reached across the table. He gently touched her face and turned her to look at him. “You don’t have to be afraid, you know?” He smiled, his hand lingered on her cheek.
His touch was warm. Amalliey’s heart raced, she couldn’t take her eyes away from him. “I…”
“Shh.” He smirked and lowered his hand. He leaned back and grasped the rose in his fingertips. “I got this for you, as an apology for knocking you down.” He smiled and looked to her.
Amalliey looked to the rose, her cheeks were bright red. “I…” She reached forward and took the rose, she looked to him. She furrowed her brows, “Wh-why did you run into me?”
Castile watched her, he looked to the waiter as he approached. “Two reds please.” He looked back to Amalliey. “Why wouldn’t I run into you?” He smirked. “You’re beautiful.” He chuckled.
Amalliey looked away from his eyes again, she didn’t feel in control. She bit her lip slightly, she was beginning to think that this wasn’t the best of ideas. “Who are you?” She asked, still not looking to him.
“You know?” He spoke and paused as the wine was set on the table. He took a sip from it and smiled. “Your eyes are beautiful too, and yet you look away from me.” He spun his glass in his fingertips. “My name is Castile.” He took another drink of his glass. “Yours?”
Amalliey looked to him, her eyes locked on his and she could feel his power then. She could feel the essence of his magic. “A-Amalliey.” She spoke, her eyes glowed slightly, she looked away quickly again.
“Hm.” Castile set his glass down and leaned back in his seat. “Perhaps dinner was not a good idea?” He spoke and crossed his arms. “I only wanted to apologize.” He looked back to her, a gentle smile then.
Amalliey looked back to him. “No I…” She forced herself to keep her eyes on him, it felt as though his magic was surrounding her, like she was under a blanket. “I stepped in front of you.” She spoke then, she had to focus hard to speak.
Castile chuckled and looked away, “That you did.”
The overwhelming feeling disappeared then. Amalliey relaxed into her chair slightly. “So, why did you invite me here then?” She asked, curious.
The knight smiled, “It isn’t often that I can ask a beautiful woman to dinner, I’m always out on missions.” He chuckled then. He looked to the waiter as he returned to the table. “Ah yes, would you bring us the chef’s special this evening?” The young boy nodded and then stepped off quickly. “So, you’re not from here, clearly, otherwise I would have found you sooner.” He smirked.
Amalliey shook her head and reached forward. She looked to the glass of wine a moment. “Drink this.” She held it toward him.
Castile raised his brows. “There is nothing wrong with that.” He sighed then as she held the glass and didn’t speak. “Alright.” He took the glass and took a drink from it. “See?” He smiled and held the glass back to her. “Now, my lady. May we continue our date?”
Amalliey took the glass and took a sip from it. “Date…” She spoke, she thought back to when Lynn spoke of how what they’d done last night was a date. “I’m not sure date is the right word.” She looked to him.
Castile watched her for a long moment, his yellow eyes stared directly into hers, locking onto her, he heard her breath skip. “Hm.” He looked away then. “I’ve made a mistake then?” He asked.
Amalliey’s heard raced within her chest. She looked away as her mind filled with fog. “I…” She took in a breath.
Time seemed to slip away as they spoke back and forth. Their conversation was awkward at first, but Amalliey began to ease into it. Castile smiled as he drank his wine and they ate. Amalliey began to giggle, though it wasn’t the same as when she’d been with Lynn. Not quite. Soon the glasses were empty and the food was gone. Castile stood, he offered her his hand and helped her up. Amalliey leaned against him, she giggled again. Castile had drank the same amount of wine as her, though he seemed completely unaffected. He led her outside and walked her through the now quiet streets. Castile walked her to the inn and stood before her. He took both of her hands into his and stared into her eyes. “Amalliey.” He spoke, “This was not a mistake.” He smirked, his eyes glowed then as he stared into her eyes.
Amalliey’s breath shook again as she stared into his eyes. He smiled to her as he felt her body loosen slightly. He took her hands and placed them on his chest. He held her hands a moment before he wrapped his arms around her, still staring into her eyes as she slipped deeper into his trance. Castile leaned forward then and pressed his lips to hers. This would seal his spell, allow him control. He held her there for a moment before he released her and took a step back. “Good night, Amalliey.” He spoke, his voice warm.
Amalliey stared to him, her breathing still shook. “G-Good night, Castile…I…”
“Don’t worry, you’ll see me again, soon enough.” He smirked before he turned and walked off.
Amalliey stood there, her jaw loose, yellow swirled within her eyes as she stared after him, frozen in that place. “Princess?” Lionel asked. “Oh thank the heavens!” He rushed forward. “We have been looking everywhere for you! You can’t just wander off like that!”
Amalliey looked to him, “Oh, my apologies, Lionel.” She spoke. “I will not let it happen again.” She turned and stepped into the inn.
Lionel furrowed his brows, he stared to the knight that was in the distance now.
Amalliey walked up the stairs, she gripped onto the railing. A smile curved up her lips. She let out a soft giggle. She’d had quite a bit to drink. She found herself to her room and went inside. She lay down on the bed, she took in a shaken breath as the yellow hue swirled within her eyes again. It was the spell he’d put her under.

Lynn grit her teeth “What is going on?” she stepped over to Xavier and crossed her arms. “A fallen angel? I’ve read something of them but.. I never considered it fact. Just something I passed by… I didn’t pay attention to what it said… If it is an Angel, what do they want with Amalliey, an why? He had these eyes…. They entranced her, clearly enchanted. He seemed to almost seduce her. Ever since she’s been a little off. I was hoping that maybe bringing her into the Phase would get her back into sync” she sighed. “Lets search for her… clearly she is being warped… she wouldn’t dare leave without telling us what she was up to. She knows the dangers we face right now…”
Xavier looked to her and nodded “You are right, she is too smart to play stupid like this…Meet back at in the Inn in an hour max, if you do not find her. It is best not to get split up for too long. If something happens… do something dramatic – as a signal…” he spoke and then lea them out of the Inn.
‘Inn keeper, if the younger woman in our party returns – please inform her that we are searching for her, do not let her leave… please…” Xavier spoke to the woman at the desk, who nodded in response.
They split up … Lynn walked down the streets, her eyebrows furrowed the entire while. She looked into some closed buildings, walked through a few restaurants. She slipped into the pub and looked there too. After an hour she returned to the inn with no success. Xavier and Lionel met up with her. “Anything?”
“No…” Lionel hung his head.
“Damnit Amalliey…” She turned her head then and saw two figures close together. Lynn squinted her eyes… it was Amalliey. The knight leaned down and kissed her – his hand placed upon her cheek. Lynn felt a sudden pit in her stomach that nearly made her sick. She turned swiftly and walked into the Inn, she felt like she couldn’t breath in just that second. Just as she did – there was a hand on her shoulder. Lionel had gone after her.
“Hey” he spoke. Lynn turned and looked to him, her eyes had gotten a little watery. “This is not her – you know this. Want me to take care of him? Knight to Knight?” he questioned and smiled weakly.
“If he is truly an Angel…” She whispered. “There is no coincidence, he is doing this to get after her – get after us. He has to be working with the demon or something… Yes, go approach him. I want to see his reaction.”
Lionel lead Lynn outside. As Amalliey came walking to the Inn – Lionel approached the Knight. “Excuse me Sir – “ he called out. The Knight turned and looked to him.
“Ah, Amalliey’s guardian Knight…” He bowed his head slightly. “It’s Lionel, isn’t it?”
“Yes… Tell me – what do you want with Amalliey?” Lionel questioned.
“She is a beautiful woman, that is all. I fancy her, do you not?” He smiled, his yellow eyes looking to Lionel…
Lionel grit his teeth and shook his head no. “Tell me what a Fallen Angel truly wants with Amalliey, hm?” He placed his hand on the hilt of his blade. “Don’t come near her again… Do you understand me?”
The Knight chuckled “You are confused sir Knight… I am no such thing. Besides, you should talk to her… I think she fancies me rather so” he winked and then went to walk away.
“Don’t walk away from me you ungrateful liar. We are on an important mission, she doesn’t have time to date obscure lying Knights” Lionel called out – but the knight continued to walk. “Damnit!” he cursed under his breath.
“Xavier… what do we do?” Lionel asked, defeated as he returned.
“Nothing now… I put a magic tracking spell on him… he has a very interesting aura, easy to spot. If he follows us… I’ll know… For now – we must be on our guard and protect Amalliey at all costs. Even if that means detaining her…” Xavier spoke and then turned to go inside the Inn. “Come now…”
***
Lynn looked to Amalliey as she went inside. “Hey!” He called out, following after her. “What are you smiling so big for, huh?” Lynn followed her to their room, she crossed her arms and stood in the center of the room. “What are you thinking?!” she spoke with a heightened voice.
“We couldn’t find you… You didn’t tell us where you went? What are you, 12 years old huh? If you wanted to see him so bad you could have just said. Instead we rummaged through the city with no avail. You do realize we have a pack of demons hunting us, right?” She stepped over to the bed and looked to her.
“The man you went out with is a Fallen Angel” She lowered her voice and stared to her. She swiftly turned around and scoffed, frustrated… and slightly hurt. She couldn’t pin point why… Why watching her kiss someone else stung so hard. But she had to remind herself that he was likely casting some kind of spell…
Lynn perked up and stepped over … Spell… She looked into Amalliey’s eyes… they were not the same. That yellow color mixed in with hers… She grit her teeth and shook her head. “If that demon thinks seducing you will work…” she laughed slightly. “I’ve seen this spell before, a potent one that is. The Kings used to place it on their sons to seduce the princesses to be wed…” she paused “A genuine love would break the spell… something that distracted you, something real…” she paused and thought. “Your mom would do that, even your father… I’m not sure…. Does it have to be….?” She paused.
“It has to be you” Xavier spoke, his arms crossed, as he leaned on the door way.
“Huh?”
“I am not stupid, nor born yesterday… You like her… She likes you” he laughed and shook her head. “Even if it’s just a little bit – it’s enough. Trust me, this spell has been tried on me” he laughed and nodded. “But… it has to be mutual.. You cannot force it upon her…” he sighed and then stepped from the room.
Lynn stared to Amalliey for a second, blushing wildly now. “I… don’t know…how to..” she sat down on a seat.. defeated too. It was a weird feeling… this feeling. She leaned her head back against the wall and sighed softly. “Sneaky bastard….”
