Darkness consumed Adrian. The hours melted together. One moment she would be awake for the scientist to move forward with his experimentation, the next…her consciousness would leave her. Her eyes fluttered as she felt her toes touch the floor. She was being lowered toward the ground. “Where is the princess?” She felt a tight grip on her jaw. “Why wasn’t she with you? She was supposed to be with you!” Adrian found herself staring into the eyes of the king. She could taste blood in her mouth as she stared back to him. He roughly released her and her head hung forward. “Have you made any progress?” His voice sounded far away.
“Yes, I believe I am nearly there, I just can’t break her wards, she won’t give in, my king.” The scientist spoke.
Adrian took in a breath as she was grabbed again. The king stared into her eyes. “I’ll have you.” He stared to her. “You’ll be my puppet soon enough.” He had a wicked grin on his face.
“No.” Adrian spoke as she looked to him, blood leaked from her nose.
The king grit his teeth and suddenly backhanded her. Adrian’s head fell loosely to the side as blood splattered to the floor. “I don’t care how you do it, just get it done!” The king snarled. “I’ll be at the castle, don’t bring her until you’ve finished with her!” The sound of the king leaving echoed through the room, the sound of his knights following him as well.
Adrian shifted, her toes barely touched just enough to give her some form of relief on her arms. She took in shaken breaths. She could hear the sound of something moving about as the Scientist worked. Her vision melted in and out, her breaths sounded as though she was under water.
“Adrian!!” A voice called. “No! Let her go! Let her go!” The sound of someone fighting against restraints filled the room.
Adrian’s eyes lifted, her vision was blurry but she could see the familiar face of Elias as he was wheeled into the room.
“You should have run damnit!” He cried out just as a cloth was tied around his mouth to silence him. He continued to yell through the cloth, though it was muffled and the words were lost to the fabric.
“Let’s see here.” The scientist spoke, “How would you feel if I kill him?” He stepped forward and gripped Adrian’s jaw. “Would it anger you?” He stared into her eyes.
Adrian grit her teeth, she managed to summon enough energy then to quickly lift herself and kick against his chest. The scientist fell back onto his back, a tray of his instruments clattered to the floor. She fought against the chains, she tried to use her magic but only found that her body was filled with pain. The chest piece was still clasped tightly around her body. Suddenly waves of electricity ran through her, her body convulsed and she let out a cry. The scientist rushed forward, the remote in hand. He released the button and stared into her eyes. “I’ll start slow, clearly injuring you isn’t getting us anywhere.” He spoke. “I’ve injected you with nearly everything I can make, and yet you still won’t give in. Maybe we can come to an agreement over his life?” The scientist then stepped over to Elias, he looked to the table of tools he had assembled. “Which one first?” He asked as he lifted a set of pliers.
Adrian took in quick breaths, “Stop…” She whimpered. “Please…” Her body trembled. She squeezed her eyes shut as Elias screamed. The chest piece lit up as her power tried to surge. Sylvia…help me… She thought as unconsciousness overcame her.

As they flew to the tower – she heard something in her head.
Sylvia…help me…
Ullr roared – somehow he heard it too, perhaps because Sylvia was riding him? Ullr turned completely around and began flying faster. The wind whipped around and threatened to rip Sylvia from her spot. The world was a blur below them as they flew with speed. Then it made sense – she knew where they were going…
The King had outposts placed all about the edges of his kingdom. One of them had a warehouse, full of weapons… They were headed right for it. Ullr dipped down and shot to the ground. There was a tower, and a building at the base of it…
Sylvia conjured thick clouds, it began to pour rain – lightning striking about, fog rolled in. Cover…
They landed and Sylvia slipped from the dragon. She squeezed her eyes and concentrated. In an instant a scroll appeared in her hand, formed from the dirt below her feet. On it said ‘South Outland Outpost’ ~Sylvia. A raven swooped down and took the scroll and flew away. All fed by magic…
“Go Ullr… you’ll know your cue when to come back” she spoke and then the rain became harder. She snuck and made her way down to the tower. She came to the building and poked her head into the window… Elias was screaming – a burning prod was pressed against his skin. Sylvia grit her teeth, her eyes coming to Adrian now. She gasped and then squeezed her fists.
Adrian – I’m here. I just need a few minutes… hang in there.. please ! She concentrated and then looked to the mountains. The Dwarves surely weren’t far off, they would be there with speed…

The scientist looked to Adrian as he lifted the prod from Elias’ side. “This isn’t working.” He spoke, her brows drawn together. He waved for the guards to take Elias away. He stepped to her and stared into her eyes. “I have one last resort.” He gave a grin then, “One last try before I’m out of ways to break you without killing you.” He chuckled then. “Though after all this, I may enjoy killing you.” He stepped over to his table where he began boiling up a potion.
Adrian heard Sylvia’s voice, her eyes fluttered as she lifted her head slightly. Everything hurt. Please hurry… Her voice was faint in her mind. She tried to focus on the scientist as he tossed different things into the pot. He stepped over to her and held a knife to her arm. “One last thing.” He sliced into her. Adrian didn’t even flinch. She took in a sharp breath as he squeezed her arm drawing blood from the wound into a bowl.
The scientist stepped back over and mixed it in before he drew it up into a syringe. The liquid was blood red, though it swirled within the syringe. He grinned as he stepped over to her and lowered her a bit more. His eyes were even with hers now. “I’ve never actually gotten to use this on anyone before.” He spoke, “Hopefully my calculations are correct.” He then took the syringe and pressed the needle into her skin at the base of her neck. Adrian let out a whimper as he injected the fluid. She felt her heart began to bound within her chest. The scientist took a step back as he watched her eyes begin to glow white. Adrian grit her teeth as she fought against it, her nose began to bleed. “Don’t fight it girl.” The scientist growled.
Adrian gasped as he gripped onto her jaw. She stared into his eyes, the world began to spin. Her demonic form surfaced then, the red sparks began to bounce around within her eyes. Then suddenly Adrian’s body tensed she let out a cry as her muscles spasmed and seized. The scientist took a step back, his brows drawn together. He stepped over to his computer checking over the calculations. He looked back to Adrian as her body became limp. He stepped up to her and placed his fingers against her neck feeling for her pulse. He then chuckled. “At least you’re still alive.” He spoke as he stepped back to his computer and began typing away. “Just a few tweaks and you’ll belong to the king.”

Sylvia grit her teeth as she peered into the building. “come on…”. Suddenly from over the hill – a flaming fall came flying. It crashed down on the tower, knocking the top half of the tower down into the ground. A huge army of machines came prodding over the hill, facing forward – with their weapons charged.
“Fire!” A shout came from the hill, another collection of flaming balls, cannon balls, came barreling towards the tower. The alarms began to blare, and soldiers rushed to the open fields…
In an instant dark green clouds began to appear across the skies. Slyiva gripped her hands tight and then leaped into the air. Seemingly – wind lifted her high into the sky and she brought her hands above her head – and then jerked them downward. With her strength lightning struck the building, busting in the ceiling. From her back sprout wings made from sparking electricity, her entire body bursting into it’s blue form. The wings bat heavily and she shot into the building.
She landed with her fist directly into the scientist’s face. He grunted loudly as she landed on him. Her fist crackled with energy, licking his skin and burning him. She then lifted his body up, blue fire caught across her body as she raged with anger. “You’ll fucking pay!” she shouted.
The Scientist looked to her, his face black from his burns. He cackled then “Ahhhh, the princess! What a delight you have become!!” he reached forward and touched her burning cheeks, his fingers instantly turning black, the skin peeling off instantly as it smoldered from his bones. “I die in peace, for you are my greatest accomplishment…” he laughed then as his body caught flame. His skin boiled and burned right off his body, leaving his bones that cracked and glowed, until they too shattered into dust.
Murdoc suddenly appeared before her – “Sylvia!” he shouted over the winds that whipped around her, coming in from the busted ceiling. “You must control it! Or It will consume you!!!”
Winds whipped about her, so that she became the center of a weak tornado. The tornado flashed with blue shocks of electricity, spinning within its twisting vortex… Sylvia turned and her flaming eyes looked to Adrian who was tied up. She shut her eyes and grit her teeth –
She forced her memories to flood her brain – of them eating dinner, just moments ago… holding onto her as they flew, standing before the dwarf King…
Her fire died down – the winds calming, she held her hand forward and she zapped the shackles from Adrian’s arms. She turned then Elias and did the same, he was released and he stumbled forward. Sylvia then leaped into the air, her electric wings holding her afloat. She flew over the broken tower and held her hands out, lightning came down upon her enemies… the battlefield was littered with dead soldiers, and machines tromping through the chaos….

Adrian’s body slipped to the floor in a heap. Blood leaked from her nose and mouth onto the stone floor, her breathing was shallow and nearly nonexistent. The last injection the scientist gave her was a rather high dose, more than he’d ever given her with several new components. Elias staggered forward, “Adrian…” He knelt next to her, “Adrian wake up.” He rolled her from her side to her back. Adrian began choking on the blood that pooled in her mouth. Elias rolled her back onto her side. “Come on.” He held his hand to her forehead and healed her slightly, he glanced over as he heard footsteps approaching.
“What have they done…?” Julius spoke, he had a makeshift splint fastened around his leg. His right eye was nearly swollen shut. He was tortured for hours on end as Parvus tried to figure out the importance of Marali. Eventually he gave in, when they snapped his tibia and fibula with a vice. He could barely walk. “Is she…?” He fell to his knees.
“She’s breathing.” Elias spoke, “Barely…”
An earth shattering roar came from above them as Ullr scooped down. He landed roughly, his eyes wide. He snarled and chomped down on a soldier that rushed into the room, he easily tossed him to the side. He then looked back to Adrian. He came forward and whined as he pressed his nose to her. “We will fix her, Ullr.” Julius spoke, “What is this contraption?” He pulled at the chest piece. Suddenly the light pulsed red. Adrian tensed as a mechanical sound came from the device, then after a few moments the light dimmed back to a red glow. Julius glanced around. “We have to find the key to this thing.” He spoke as he pushed himself up. He winced as he hobbled forward toward the computer station. Papers were thrown everywhere, the computer was smashed. He lifted the antenna to the small remote from the ashes of the scientist, “Maybe Lunafreya or the Grand Master can get that thing off of her…” He spoke.
Ullr snarled and bound forward as soldiers rushed into the room. He slashed at them and crushed several with his huge paws. He chomped down on one and shook his head before he tossed the dead body to the side. He was furious. Elias searched around and found a blanket. He carefully wrapped Adrian up in it, “Ullr.” He called to the dragon after he’d destroyed the army. “Get Sylvia and take Adrian back to the tower, the Grand Master will know what to do.” He nodded. Ullr whined at him and nudged Adrian once more. “I know it looks bad…look.” He carefully pulled up on the blanket. He’d wrapped it so Ullr could carry her. “Come on.” He held the blanket toward Ullr. The dragon bit down onto it and stared into Elias’ eyes for a long moment before he shot into the sky.
Aerie was busy shooting balls of fire at the soldiers that remained. She flew through the air, angry roars escaped her as she dove down and attacked with her claws. Ullr swooped down once he located Sylvia. He cried as he set Adrian down. He nosed her body so that she was rolled onto her side once more. Ullr grabbed Sylvia and tossed her up onto his back before he picked Adrian back up once more. He shot into the sky and flew with incredible speed.
It didn’t take long for them to make it to the tower, Ullr flew with record speed. He skidded as he landed and tipped down allowing Sylvia off of his back. He set Adrian down and roared, his cry was filled with pain and sadness. He whimpered as he rolled her back onto her side again to keep her from choking. A mage came from the tower and scooped her up. They were rushed inside and moments later they were in the medical wing.
“Oh my…” Lunafreya stared with wide eyes as Adrian was set before her. She looked to Sylvia with a worried expression. “We have to put an end to this…” She whispered, “We can’t let him keep doing this to people.” She looked over Adrian’s body as she pulled the blanket away. “How could anyone…” She had tears in her eyes. “Over my years I’ve only seen such brutality a few times…but nothing nearly as horrible as this.” She sighed softly, “I will have to heal her in increments, this is a lot of damage…” She took in a breath, “Sylvia, could you get the Grand Master…I’m not sure what to do with this…” She looked at the chest piece. “What is this?” She touched it, “Some kind of mechanism…” She looked it over.
“No need.” The Grand Master spoke as he entered the room. “Sylvia thank you.” He bowed his head. “By the maker…” He looked over Adrian’s wounds. “These are not men, these are monsters…” He whispered.
“What do you make of this, Grand Master?” Lunafreya asked, “Can I heal her?”
The Grand Master reached forward and touched it. He looked it over and then tugged on it slightly. The red light in the center of the chest piece pulsed red and Adrian tensed, gasping for air. His eyes widened though after a few short seconds Adrian’s body relaxed again as the pulsing stopped and the light dimmed once more. “Heal her, and I will contact Treyvon, he is a master mechanic in Luca he should know what to do with this contraption…I hope….” He then looked to Sylvia, “Tell me what happened. Where are Julius and Elias? Your sister?”
Lunafreya placed her hand over Adrian’s head and closed her eyes. A green glow came over her palm, soon the glow moved over Adrian’s entire body, engulfing her in the color. Lunafreya closed her eyes, her brows drew together as she concentrated. She stayed like this for a long time, nearly an hour, until her hand trembled. She stepped back and sat down, her eyes tired. “That…should get her through the night…I think I repaired off of her internal bleeding…the things that they did to her…” The old mage let out a long breath.
Adrian lay on her side still, the wounds remained on the surface, but the blood no longer dripped from her nose and mouth. Her breathing was more stable.
**
Adrian stood in her spirit form. Her body was a blue hue. She stood just behind Lunafreya. Her eyes looked over her body and then to Sylvia. “Wake up.” She whispered to herself as her eyes fell upon her beaten body. “Come on…wake up…you have to…”

Sylvia looked up to the giant frosty dragon and she held her arm up. The dragon clamped onto her with his claws and flung her in to the air. She landed on his back and gripped the huge scales, her eyes looked to the massive mechanical army that demolished the kings forces. Sylvia turned her head as Ullr thrust forward with speed. Soon they came to the tower - and they landed on the ground carefully.
Sylvia followed the crowd up the tower, she pushed through the gathering crowd of young mages, who trailed behind. They quickly went up the teleporting elevator - she rushed forward and fell before Adrian, who lunafreya was tending to...
“I managed to persuade the Dwarves to join our cause...meanwhile Adriana an went to rescue the others... she was captured. That scientist.. the one who did his experiments on me was also doing something to her. I’m not sure what... I ended him. And everyone else there... Elias and Julius should be here soon.. I do not know where marali is, I would assume the king personally has her...”
Sylvia turned her head then, she felt a cold breeze, a feeling like a gaze was upon her. She stood and stared into the emptiness...
** “You shouldn’t be here” Murdoc stood next to Sylvia, looking directly at Adrian. “Whatever that scientist did... he pushed your powers to such a limit that you have been ejected from your body, much like myself...” he looked to the sleeping Adrian, her physics form.
“I wish things could be differently. The king will use Marali to capture Sylvia, surely. And Sylvia will fall into his trap, without a doubt. She craves for a hint of family, she would give herself away for it...” he approached Adrian.
“Whatever you do, don’t get curious. Creatures of the dark called Shadows will try and lure you into the darkness, do not leave your body. YOu will be lost forever....” he disappeared then..
*** “How do we know if she’s alive? Marali... I have to rescue her. She is the only family I have left” Sylvia stood up and grit her teeth.
“You might have to give up on that idea. The king may have already killed her... or he will use her to lure you. And you’ve seen what he’s done to even the strongest mages... he will double his efforts without a doubt...you could lose everything trying” the grand master looked to Sylvia and sighed deeply.
Sylvia squeezed her brows together and shook her head. “Could. I have to try!”
***
“Bring him forward” the king waved.
Elias was pushed to his knees... The king stepped forward and grinned. “So weak....” he leaned down and lifted Elias chin up. “You think I’d let you out of my sight? Blood magic flows in your genes... your father was the greatest, I heard. Until he was consumed by the very demons he summoned... “ he laughed then and nodded.
Marali was thrown forward as well, she too landed on her palms and knees.
“Elias... someone who Adrian cherishes... and now Sylvia’s sister... it is time to eliminate my greatest threat.. the Scroll” the King waved.
A scroll was tossed infront of Elias. “You will perform this, or I’ll kill you... no, wait. I’ll use you as sweet Bait, lure your friends in and torture them in front of you.. kill them finger by finger, until they bleed out...” he laughed. “Perhaps I’ll get creative and think of something worse....”

Adrian looked to Murdoc, her eyes welled with tears. “We have to stop her…” She whispered, though he was gone. She glanced over her shoulder as she heard a strange cackling sound. Her brows narrowed, her pulse quickened as she turned away when the shadows moved about. Her eyes fell on Sylvia. “You can’t go!” She cried as she heard Sylvia speak of recuing Marali. “No! You can’t!” She balled her hands into fists.
“She can’t hear you dear.” A voice came from the shadows.
Adrian turned her eyes to find a human like creature standing before her. The form was there, though the eyes were a plain white, the fingers were long and skinny. She looked away, her breath shook. She brushed the hand away and stepped quickly to the side, standing over her body that lay on the gurney.
“You can’t stop her from here.” The creature spoke and chuckled. “Though, I know a way.”
“No, you don’t.” Adrian spoke, her voice strong.
The creature slithered around to her side again and placed it’s hand over her physical body. She began gasping and choking.
“Stop!” Adrian shoved forward tackling the being to the ground. She stood quickly and glanced back to her body, blood leaked from her nose.
“Such fragile creatures.” The shadow spoke and hummed. “Well, if you change your mind. Just, call.” With that he was gone.
Adrian stood breathless, “Sylvia don’t go!” She cried and reached forward, her hand slipped right through Sylvia’s shoulder. She grit her teeth. “You have to listen.” She shook her head.
**
Elias grit his teeth. “I’m not summoning any more demons for you.” He looked up to the king.
The king grinned and waved his hand, “I thought you might say something like that.” He looked to his knights and nodded then. The doors to the room opened and Julius was dragged into the room. His leg was bent at a horrible angle, the bones clearly broken. He was shoved down to the floor in front of Elias. The king stepped forward as a knight grabbed Elias by his hair and forced him to look up. “You see, I think everything out rather precisely. This whole hiccup with Adrian.” He stopped and smiled, “It’s just a test of my abilities.” He pulled a dagger from his hip. “So, how far must I go before you give in?” He asked. The bracelets glowed around Julius’ wrists, it was almost as if a fluid ran through the bracelets. The scientist had done modifications to them after Sylvia escaped.
“I’m nothing to you if I’m dead.” Elias spoke, “Neither is Julius, you need our magic to complete this spell.”
“I certainly do.” The King chuckled. “Though, my scientist before my daughter so rudely murdered him, he created these new bracelets. You see with each try at his power, Julius is draining his magic into these.” He smirked. “It’s a siphon really.” He then stabbed into Julius’ back with the dagger.
Elias grit his teeth as he watched the archmage fall forward weakly. “Julius…”
“Don’t…do it…” Julius gasped just before the king kicked into him sending him to his back.
He grabbed a set of pliers and stepped forward. “I can stop, at any point, Elias.” The king chuckled as he snipped off one of Julius’ fingers. The sickening sound of the crack seemed to echo through the room just before Julius screamed in pain.
Elias drew his brows together. “Adrian will kill you.” He spoke, his voice angry.
The king began to snicker then. “Oh? Will she? How will she do that?” He grinned then. “You know my scientist managed to finish the job just before the dwarves crashed in. His notes stated that the process was complete, he’d separated her soul.” He waited a moment for that to sink in, Elias’ expression fell. “Yes, that’s it. That’s the look of defeat I was looking for.” He took his dagger then and sliced across Julis’ throat. The sounds of him choking on his blood filled the room as the king watched him die. “She’s dead, Elias, now all I have to do is keep my daughter from figuring out how to get her back.” He pushed the scroll forward.
Elias’ eyes stayed on Julius’ whom had fallen limp by that time, his hands were covered in blood. He slowly looked to the king. “If you’re going to just kill them anyway, why don’t you just march up there and do it?” He snapped, his voice angry.
The king smirked. “It isn’t as fun that way.” He gripped his jaw. “Do it and I’ll see to it that I spare your life, maybe with time I will offer you a place on the council if you become trustworthy. Hm? Come on, be the man your father was, he was such a great mage for me.”
Elias looked away, his eyes brimming with tears. “You’ll destroy them…” He whispered. “Do you even know what this spell is for?” He asked as he took it into his hands and read it over.
The king grinned. “Yes, to damn their souls to hell, to banish them from their bodies.” He rubbed his hands together. “Well, do we have a deal boy? Your father was rather well off under me. I can offer you the same.”
Elias took in a shaken breath, “Even if I say no, you’ll find someone else.” He spoke. His eyes looked over the words, the king was mistaken. It wasn’t a spell to send the princess’ soul to hell. He looked back to the king and took in a breath. “I’ll do it.” He spoke, his voice held pain. He knew where he was about to send Sylvia and Adrian was another realm.
Marali sat with tears streaming down her cheeks. “You can’t do this…” She whispered.
The king chuckled as he turned to her. “Oh but I can.” He grinned.
“You’re a monster.” Marali spat through her sobs.
The king backhanded her harshly sending her to her side. “Get on with the spell Elias.” He moved and unclipped the bracelets from Julius’ dead body. He clicked a few things and then snapped the bracelets onto his wrists. “This should give you a bit more power to complete the spell.” He spoke as he moved to his throne.
Elias took in a breath. He carefully stood, he could feel the power coursing into his body, his eyes began to glow from the amount of magic in his system. He looked to Marali for a moment before he pulled the dagger from Julius’ chest and slit his wrist. He began using his own blood to draw out the rune on the floor. He was precise and careful. He then turned to Marali whom was held by a knight, she sobbed as he stepped toward her. Elias looked to the knight and nodded. He led her over and sat down in the middle of the rune with her. “Marali.” He spoke and looked to her, his eyes were sad. “I’m sorry.” He searched her eyes.
Marali sniffled, her body trembled. “You’ve no choice.” She whispered. “I….I understand…”
Elias took in a slow breath. “I’ll make sure you don’t feel anything. I promise.” He searched her eyes before he took both of her hands into his. His eyes began to glow yellow as he began to speak. His words were of the ancient words that were written on the scroll. He moved and lay Marali on her back in the center of the rune as he continued to speak. He cupped her cheek with his hand as he stared into his eyes. “Sleep.” He whispered. Marali took in a sharp breath her body jolted slightly and then fell limp. He continued the incantation. He made deep cuts down her arms that leaked into the rune that was now glowing a bright yellow. Finally he made a slice into her chest and pulled her heart from the gouge. He squeezed it, blood ran down his arms, tears streamed down his cheeks as he continued to speak the ancient words.
**
Adrian followed Sylvia. “Stop!” She screamed. “Just stop! You can’t do this!” She flickered then. Adrian looked back to her body that lay on the table.
“Sylvia, wait.” Lunafreya spoke, her eyes wide. “Something isn’t right…” She moved over Adrian. Her brows furrowed, her fists balled up tight, she was gasping for air. “Sylvia?”
Adrian spun and took a step back toward Lunafreya, and just as she did it was like the world gave away beneath her. She screamed as she tumbled down into a black hole. “Sylvia!!” She cried as she looked up to the light that was the tower. Though after just a few moments, the light was gone. She toppled through the darkness at an alarming rate. Her body tossed and turned to the air that whipped around her. “Murdoc!” She screamed. She tried to stop, she tried to grab for anything. It was as if she was falling through space itself. Lights began to fly by her, her vision blurred as she tossed about trying to figure out what was up and what was down.
Suddenly Adrian slammed into something. She let out a cry. Her entire body felt as though it was ran into a brick wall. She couldn’t make anything out as she pushed herself up. The entire world was a blur and seemed to swirl about around her. Her breathing echoed as she stumbled and everything faded to black.
It felt like days passed before she woke. Adrian’s eyes opened she lay on the floor of her room in the tower. She blinked several times, her head ached and throbbed. “What…” She blinked and looked around. She looked to her arms, the bruises and cuts had vanished. She stood slowly and looked around her room, things seemed different. Her desk was in a different spot. Different books were pushed into the shelf.
She staggered slightly as she moved to the door and pulled it open. She looked down the hall, it was bigger than before…there were more doorways, it seemed to go on forever. “I’m dreaming…” She whispered to herself.
Someone ran into her and tripped falling to the floor. “Oh!” He cried, it was a young mage, his books toppled about.
Adrian quickly helped him. “I’m sorry, I just stepped out in front of you didn’t I?” She offered a weak smile as she held the books toward him.
“Oh, n-no need to apologize to me Archmagister.” He bowed his head.
Adrian drew her brows together as the young mage shuffled off. She paused a moment before she headed down the hallway. She glanced around, the tower was completely different, from the paintings on the walls to the curves of the halls. She came to the library, it was silent. She walked around a bookcase and let out a relieved sigh. “Sylvia.” She spoke, “Thank god…” She stepped forward toward the table. “H-how long have I been out?” She looked around the library. “Am I….still in the phase?” She drew her brows together. “Your hair looks really nice…” She commented and tilted her head slightly as she looked to the robes that Sylvia wore.

Lunafreya turned her head and looked to Sylvia – “Don’t…” she stood and placed her hand on Sylvia’s shoulder. “If I could ask for anything in the world – it would be for you to head his advice. We may even have to live with the possibility that Elias and Julius are – “ Lunafreya suddenly stopped, she gasped slightly…
The earth rumbled slightly… The Grand Master lifted his head up and then he looked back. Sylvia was laying flat on the ground. He leaned down and placed his hand on her neck, feeling for a pulse – “She’s alive…. But… her magic, it’s gone. Something… has happened.” He stood and then stepped over to Adrian and felt for the same. “She is… too…” he grit his teeth. “Something beyond us has happened, the King…”
“This has blood magic written all over it…” Lunafreya stood and two mages lifted Sylvia to the other bed. “We must ready the mages, the King will be coming. I can feel it…” she looked to the Grand Master, who nodded in reply – his robes swished loudly as he rushed out of the room.
***
Sylvia went to gasp – but her mouth filled with water, her lungs began to crackle. She opened her eyes and saw nothing but darkness. She then reached forward and began to swim upward. As she kicked and swam – she could feel herself becoming heavy… but the top of the water was close. It became brighter, until finally she broke the surface. She gasped loudly and then looked around.
The sea was quiet, the waves were still – the beach was just off the way. She began to swim to it, until finally she hit the bright white sand. She sat on her hands and knees for a long moment, while the water reached forward and touched her shoes. She slowly stood and glanced upward, the tower was in the distance…
***
Sylvia turned, her hair flinging with her motion, and glanced to Adrian. She set down the book she was holding, quick to save her page, and then stepped over. “Out? Did you take a nap or something?” she smiled and then reached forward, grabbing Adrian’s hand. She tugged her into a study room and shut the door. “You didn’t tell me you were going to be back so soon, I would of really liked to have known” she pulled Adrian into a warm embrace.
“A few days early to surprise me then?” Sylvia grinned then and placed her hands onto Adrian’s collar, she leaned forward then and kissed her deeply. She pulled back then – her eyebrows creasing. “Are… you okay?” she didn’t recognize the kiss. “Did I upset you?” she stepped back and then began to panic slightly. “If it’s what I said last week… I.. I didn’t mean it, I’m sorry, are you mad?”
***
Sylvia stood at the gate of the tower, it was completely different. It was bigger, it had an entire city surrounding it. It was an odd sight. “What the hell.. is going on” she spoke.
A mage stepped forward – “Your pass?” he questioned.
“I..” Sylvia began to pat down her body. “I don’t remember… I, I’m here to see Adrian – is she here?”
“You are here to see the Archmagister? Who are you then?” he questioned.
“I…” she thought for a long moment. “I hit my head… I… I can’t remember, I was told to see Adrian, that she could help?” she squeezed her brows. Something told her that using Sylvia’s name was not a good idea. She had no idea where she was, what was happening, what if they killed her on the spot? She had to understand things first…
“Hmm… Stay here… I will see what she says…” he then turned and went up to the tower…

Adrian took in a breath as she was towed along by Sylvia. She leaned into the embrace and then suddenly Sylvia kissed her. Adrian’s back was against the wall her eyes wide. “I…um…” She took in a quick breath. “Mad at you? What you said?” She questioned. “I…” She thought for a long moment. “Sylvia…I…don’t…know what’s happening.” She looked to her, her eyes filled with confusion. “The last thing I remember I was pushed from my body by the king, you were going to go after your sister to save her…” She took in a deep breath as she brought her fingers to her lips, the warmth of Sylvia’s kiss still lingered. “How long have I been unconscious? Was I lost?” She asked. “I can’t remember anything…” She lowered her eyes. “What happened, Sylvia?” She looked back to her. Nothing made sense.
**
“Grand Master is the Archmagister in yet?” The mage asked as he walked into the Grand Master’s office.
Julius looked up from his desk. He had a quill in his hand. “No, I’m afraid she won’t arrive for a few more days. What is it?” He asked as he stood slowly.
“A woman is requesting her by name. She says she was told to see her, Grand Master.” The mage spoke.
“I saw her.” A voice spoke up. “I mean…I ran into her accidently…but I saw the Archmagister.”
Julius looked to the young mage. “Oh? She must have arrived early.” He chuckled. “I will fetch her, I’m sure she is in the study, that’s usually where Sylvia can be found.” He gave a warm smile.
The mage bowed. “Do I bring the woman in?” He asked.
Julius nodded, “If she is asking for the Archmagister by name, then yes. Bring her into the council room.” He waved her off.
Julius stepped from the room and rounded a few corners. He walked down the hallway and then grinned. “Archmagister.” He called.
Adrian stood in the hallway, about to enter the study, she held a single white rose in her hands. “Grand Master?” She asked and paused, her hand on the door handle. She looked to him with her fiery eyes. “What is it?”
“A woman has requested you by name.” He spoke, “Come with me.”
Adrian drew her brows together. “By name?” She asked and turned. She looked to the rose a moment and huffed slightly. “This woman is ruining my surprise.” She gave a smile then and chuckled. “Sylvia won’t know I was here, I can still surprise her.” She winked then. She had on a unique set of armor. She wore metal gauntlets upon her forearms for protection, she had shoulder pieces on each side that held an inscription of a dragon. A chest plate was formed around her ribs carefully clinging to her body, it jutted out in the front slightly to protect her neck from jabs of a sword. Thick fur lined around her neck to keep her warm. A sword hung from her right hip and a pistol was strapped to her left thigh. “Who is this woman?” She asked as they walked down the hallway.
“I’m not sure, the gate keeper stated that she requested you by name.” He stated as they stopped at the door. “Said she was told to ask for you.”
Adrian crossed her arms and shifted slightly. “Alright.” She nodded, “I’ll let you know if I need you.” She pat him on his shoulder and walked in. The room had a huge round table that had several chairs pushed in around it. Banners hung from the walls. Adrian walked in and set the rose on the table. She sighed slightly, “By time I’m done with this she’ll know I’m here…” She muttered to herself as she brushed her hair from her eyes.
“Archmagister.” The gatekeeper mage spoke as he pushed the door open. “This is the woman requesting you.” He nodded and then stepped out as he allowed Sylvia into the room.
Adrian tilted her head slightly. She stepped forward, her eyes searching over Sylvia’s bald head, her breaths quickened slightly. “S….Sylvia?” She asked, “What happened?” She touched her head and then pulled her into a tight embrace. “Who did this to you?” She kissed her cheek then before she held her closer. Adrian stepped back after a moment. “Are you hurt?” She asked as she took her hand into hers and looked her over, her eyes were filled with worry.

Sylvia followed the guard into the tower, her eyes looked to the walls and designs, it was more elegant, a lot more work and money had been spent here… Sylvia stood in the council room, where she was greeted by Adrian. She gasped slightly when Adrian kissed her cheek, and pulled her close – she reached up and grasped Adrian’s hands. “Adrian…” she smiled weakly and stepped back. “I’m not the Sylvia you know…um…” she paused. “I’m trying to figure everything out… we… just hear me out. You were the only one I could think to go to…”
Sylvia moved to the table and sat down, she took in a deep breath. “This tower isn’t the same as the one I remember… I… I think something has happened and I have been thrown into some other world?” she shook her head. “What I remember is… my father, the King, was waging war on all humanity. He had kidnapped You, Elias, Julius and my sister Marali… I was only able to rescue you – but your soul had been split from your body, then next thing I knew – I woke in the ocean, and swam to shore by the tower. This tower is.. bigger, more advanced, than my own. I… I don’t know what happened, but I get the idea that this isn’t the world I know…” she looked to Adrian with soft eyes then…
“Oh.. and my hair has always been gone, since my body was infused with Azeralite by the King…” she ran her hand over her smooth head…
***
Sylv sqeezed her eyebrow together. “What are you talking about Adrian? You were pushed from your body? By the King? Were you dreaming? There is no King, my father has been dead for ages. Did you get hit in the head? Come on… Lets have Luna check you out…” she grabbed Adrian’s hand and pulled her through the castle.
“You come home.. talking gibberish, and not even wearing your battle armor? You’re really worrying me Adri” she walked into infirmary and motioned for Adrian to sit.
Luna came from the back, she wore white decorated robes… she stepped forward and cupped Adrian’s chin. “I just saw you Adrian, you told me to keep it a secret that you were home, to surprise Sylvia. What are you doing here, hmm?” she then squeezed her brows together.
“Sylvia step back, this is an imposter” she drew her blade. “This Adrian is missing her scar on her shoulder and neck – do you see? Who are you??” Luna spoke and gripped the dagger.
Sylvia squeezed her brows together “W-what? Wait – Adrian is home? Not this Adrian? No, don’t hurt this one – there has to be something going on here. If Adrian is home, then we need her to help figure this out. Something much bigger could be happening” Sylvia reached for the blade. “The council room, probably? Guards – grab this woman and bring her to the council room, I’ll fetch Adrian” Sylvia spoke.
Two mages came forward and shackled Adrian. “Come on” they tugged her forward. Sylvia rushed from the room and made her way to the council room, she swung open the doors and barged in. “Adrian – we have-“ she stared to Sylvia for a second. “What the hell is going on?! Two imposters?!”

The Archmagister crossed her arms as she took a step back. “Another world?” She questioned. She thought for a moment. “That would explain why you called me Adrian.” She smiled, “Only Sylvi calls me that.” She chuckled then and thought for a moment. “The king has been dead for a long time, I was about 5 or so when he was overthrown by our Queen Sylvanas. The queen ended his life, he was going to attack the city of Varali that evening, Sylvanas saved my city.” She nodded, “It’s interesting to hear that the king kidnapped the Grand Master…and our Archmage…an enemy would never even think of getting close to them here.” She sat down and leaned back thinking. “Oh, you may call me either Archmagister or Nym…I’ve never really gone by my first name.”
The door opened and Sylvi walked into the room. Nym stood and rushed to her side. “She’s not an imposter.” She spoke and hugged her gently. She slipped the white rose into her hair. “My arrival was supposed to be a surprise.” She kissed her cheek then. She looked to Sylvia a moment. “She’s from somewhere else, another timeline it seems, where the king is still alive and it seems he has caused quite a bit of destruction.”
**
Adrian fought against the knights, her eyes burned with fire. “Let go!” She cried as she shoved her elbow against the guard.
“Stop fighting back imposter! We’ll have you hanged!” The guard warned.
Adrian slammed her shackled hands against his chest, a burst of flame came from her hands and she took off down the hallway.
“Get her!” Another guard called as she rushed down the hallway.
Adrian sprinted through the halls, she made random turns getting herself lost deeper into the huge tower. She slammed into the chest of someone and they tumbled to the ground. “S-sorry!” Adrian cried as she pushed herself up.
“What’s going on here?” It was Julius. “I just saw you.” He spoke and drew his brows together.
“No, I’m sure you didn’t.” She spoke as she rushed down the hallway. She rounded a corner and was caught in the chest by a harsh blow from one of the guards. Adrian landed on her back breathless. She tried to get to her feet only for the guard to toss a bag over her head and tighten the shackles. He shoved her forward harshly. “Let me go, you don’t understand!” She cried, her voice muffled by the cloth.
“We will see what the Archmagister has to say about that.” The guard spoke as he shoved her through the tower.
**
Nym turned to Sylvi and sighed slightly. “You said two imposters?” She asked then, curious. “Where is the….” She turned as the door was pushed roughly open. She watched as the hooded Adrian was shoved into the room and forced onto her knees. She stepped forward and removed the hood. She searched her eyes a moment and then looked to the guard. “Release her.” She spoke.
Adrian stood slowly, her brows were tucked together. Her eyes fell on Sylvia and her expression softened. “Where are we?” She questioned as she rubbed her wrists.
Nym smiled to her a moment. “The Tower of Magi, in the center of the city called Partuli, it is a city of all kinds of beings from mages to elves. It is a city of peace, brought together only by the rule of our Queen Sylvanas.” She glanced to Slyvi a moment, “I’m going to go get the Grand Master.” She nodded before she stepped from the room.
Adrian took in a breath as she stepped forward. “Are you okay?” She asked as she looked to Sylvia, her eyes worried. She then looked to Sylvi a moment. “So this is another world then?” She asked and looked back to Sylvia.

Sylvia turned her head as Adrian burst into the room, she slowly stood and approached her. She placed her hands on Adrian’s hands and then turned to the other two.
Sylvi leaned forward and kissed Nym on the cheek. “No worries… still happy to see you…” she touched the flower in her hair and then chuckled. “I was real confused when she came in – I confused her for you…” she grinned and then crossed her arms.
Sylvia turned to the other two and then squeezed her brows together. “So Sylvanas is alive?” she paused and added “And Murdock?” she questioned.
Sylvi stepped forward and sighed softly “Yes, both are King and Queen now, Marali is in line as active Princess, and I have been here – as representation of the Queen, and to study…” she then looked to Nym, then to Adrian. “It sounds like the world you both come from is much like this, just an alternate timeline. Things happened in yours… that could have happened here….”
“It seems like it all relied on my mothers choice… Sylvanas, to step up and murder the King… or not to” Sylvia crossed her arms.
“It haunts her every day…It appears that my world is better, but surely thing are the way they are for a reason….” Sylvi spoke and then turned to the door.
Julius stepped in and nodded his head to the two. “And it seems you are swelling with power, way greater than Sylvi…” he approaching the group and studied Sylvia and Adrian. “There’s only a few types of magic that could send one into other dimensions, the likely is Blood Magic… I can’t imagine who was sacrificed for this to happen… but all I know is that you can’t stay here. With each minute a duplicate of your soul lingers – chaos will rage on. We must figure out how to return you to your world. And hopefully… with something to help bring down the King of yours…” he looked to Nym and Sylvi…
“You are the Grand Master?” Sylvia questioned.
“I am, Nym here is my ArchMagister, keeper of the Battle Mages, and Sylvi is my Royal Ambassador, Elias should be here shortly…” Julius raised his eyebrow to Nym.
“Is there a way I could see Sylvanas and Murdock? I… never knew my parents, perhaps to just see them…” Sylvia questioned.
“Well, you are already bending the laws by being here, I can’t see what meeting a few others would do…” Julius pondered outloud.
“Are your Parents alive?” Sylvia questioned to Nym. “In our world – both of Adrian’s parents were killed during an attack that destroyed her village…”

Nym looked to Sylvia and gave a nod, “Yes, they are alive…” She looked to Adrian for a long moment. “The attack happened then?” She asked. “Because Sylvanas didn’t stop the king, the attack happened…” Her voice was softer. “I’ve had nightmares of what would have happened, had the soldiers not stopped at the line, minutes would have changed everything. Sylvanas stopped them just in time.”
“They’re alive….?” Adrian’s eyes swelled with tears.
Elias stepped into the room then, he wore very nice black robes with blue accents. “Wow…” He spoke and let out a breath. “I feel like I’m seeing double.”
Julius shot him a glare. “Elias here is the Archmage.” He spoke and looked back to Adrian and Sylvia. “As I was saying, with each moment you are in our time, things will begin to fall apart, I’m not certain if it will be within our world or yours. Your souls can not linger here.”
Adrian looked to him. “How did the king manage to send us here then?”
“Blood Magic.” Elias spoke and crossed his arms. “It’s as simple as that, though a sacrifice or two would have had to be made to pull such a trick.” Elias stepped over to a cabinet and pulled a glass globe from it. He set it within its stand upon the table. “The worlds run on different axis’ and different times. I know this much. This is an art that is not dared to be touched. Sending a soul to another timeline can be catastrophic.” He stepped forward and held his hand out. “Could I borrow your hand?” He asked and stared into Adrian’s eyes. Adrian hesitated for a moment before she offered her hand forward to him. Elias took her finger and pricked it. He squeezed a drop of her blood onto the glass globe before he began to speak in the ancient magi language. The globe swirled with magic, almost as though it filled with a fog. It took a moment before an image began to appear. Adrian lay on a gurney in the middle of the medical wing.
“We have to stop them!!” Lunafreya cried, flames surrounded her, she coughed. “We have to get her out of here.” She lifted Adrian’s limp body as the room was swarmed with knights. The kings soldiers. She shot flames at the knights, knocking several back. “Come on Adrian!” She cried as she held her to her body. An arrow flew forward and caught Lunafreya in her neck. Blood began to pour from the wound. She staggered and Adrian slipped from her arms as she pulled her dagger. She rushed forward only for a sword to be thrust into her chest.
“Ah so helpless.” Parvus spoke as he stepped forward. He knelt next to Adrian’s body. He chuckled as he brushed his hand over her cheek. “Where did they take Sylvia?” He questioned, “And why did they leave you behind?” He wondered out loud as he pulled a glowing dagger from his belt. It was enchanted with blood magic. He looked her over for a moment before he stabbed the blade into her chest. Adrian’s eyes opened just for a moment before her body fell limp and lifeless.
Adrian gasped as she stared into the globe that began to swirl with fog again. Tears rolled down her cheeks. “H-How….” She held her hand over where Parvus had stabbed her.
Elias looked to her and then to Julius, “This magic that was performed was very complex.” He spoke, “Its as if their souls no longer belonged to the bodies at all.” He tilted his head. “Her body is destroyed and yet here she stands.” He crossed his arms. “May I?” He held his hand out to Sylvia then. “I must know if they are going to succeed in killing you in your world as well. It makes this situation all the more complicated. Sending you back to your bodies is one thing…sending you back without a body to return to…” He shook his head as he pricked Slyiva’s finger. He then looked into the globe to see what was happening.
Adrian gripped Sylvia’s hand a moment before she leaned forward staring into the globe, her eyes worried.

Sylvia stepped over to the orb and looked into it, she cringed as she watched Parvus stab into Adrian’s body. “What the…” she squeezed her eyebrows together.
“This is much worse than I thought… Is that the tower?” Sylvi questioned and then took in long deep breath…
Sylvia offered her finger forward and watched as her blood dropped onto the orb. It seem to have sunk into the glass, and swirled around in the inside, like her blood had been shaken up into it. The swirling then turned into an image..
The Grand Master stood with Sylvia in his arms, he ran downward into the tunnels of the tower, which lead out into the caverns. He had a swarm of mages with him. He emerged into the caverns, only to be stopped by a swarm of Knights. Waddling from the middle was an abomination, a figure with green dead skin that drooped from his bones, hair that was frail and frazzled. The scientist cackled and held his arms out. “Can’t kill me that easy! Get the princess!!” he shouted.
The Grand Master handed Sylvia’s limp body to a mage. “Go, I’ll hold him off. You must run” he shouted. The Grand Master then held is hands out. Blasts of power came from his palms, which blasted into the knights…
Sylvia leaned back and then sighed. “We’ve failed…” she shook her head. “The circle will be destroyed, the dwarves will go back into hiding – all that work for nothing, and even if we return – it will be to a demolished land, In ruin because of my bastard father” she grit her teeth. “The extremes of magic we will have to conquer is god-like, to return back and still defeat him…” she stepped away then and balled her fists up. “I curse myself for not killing him when I had the chance…”
Sylvi turned to her and then lowered her head. “It’s not easy to take a life, especially of someone you know – and at one point cared about. Even though he is not your true father, he is – in cases, your father…” Sylvi looked to Elias and Julius… “Well, we might just have to get everyone together, the best mages we have, to figure out how we can fix this… Julius is right – even if you go home to ruins, you’ll bring this world down too – if you stay..”
“Then we fetch the Old Council…” Elias spoke, his arms crossed.

Nym shifted slightly as she stared into the globe to the destruction. “That world…” She shook her head. “There has to be something.” She grit her teeth. “The old council won’t be thrilled with being summoned.”
“The balance of our world is threatened and I am sure Lillian and Fredrick will be more than happy to assist us in getting these two back to their realm.” Elias looked to Sylvia and then to Adrian.
“That…that’s my…” Adrian looked to Nym.
“Yes, my parents.” She spoke, “It’s sad to think that in another time they were murdered by the kings army…” She sighed softly. “They were a part of the council in this world, a part of the circle when I was a child, though we lived far away. My parents left the council when I was about 6 or so, after Sylvanas took over as Queen with Murdoc at her side. The kingdom was safe once again, the tower flourished as Julius took over as the Grand Master with Elias at his side.” She paused then. “Could we alter their time?” She looked to Julius, “I know that dabbling in time is dangerous, but what is there to lose? Their home is already destroyed…the people they loved…”
Julius took in a breath he thought for a moment, “Lillian may know how to do such a thing…” He shook his head. “But…it’s very dangerous…we will have to consult the Queen as well.”
Adrian glanced to Sylvia and then to the globe that was filled with smoke. “I would give anything to stop that man…” She spoke softly. “He’s taken everything from everyone that I’ve ever met…each soul that I’ve met has had a loved one taken from them by the king…or something very dear destroyed…he needs to be stopped.”
“That I do not doubt.” Elias spoke, “He was a tyrant before our dear queen ended his life. It had to be done. Though, even someone as wicked as him, it is a hard decision to make, to take a life like that.”
“I wouldn’t hesitate to wipe vermin like that from this world.” Nym spoke, her arms crossed. “I’m sure Adrian feels the same.” She glanced to the mage.
Adrian nodded, “You got to have a childhood with your parents…I was taken by the circle after my city was destroyed. I was trained by our Grand Master Zander.”
“Zander?” Julius asked he rose his brows. “He was my Grand Master before I took over.” He smiled, “That’s the old man from the globe, isn’t it?” He asked and watched Adrian nod. “He disappeared years ago and I was forced to take the position as a young Archmage. Though it was at a good time, thankfully…”
Adrian watched him a moment. “The funny thing is, you and Elias are like older brothers to me in our world. Yet, it seems so different here.”
Elias grinned, “Nym and I are rather close she actually helped me learn battle magic.” He looked to her. He then looked back to Adrian, his eyes curious. “Are the dragons still alive in your world?”
Adrian searched his eyes a moment. “Aerie and Ullr…?” She asked.
“That’s it?” Elias looked to Nym.
“If the king is still alive, there is no wonder the dragons are all gone.” Julius spoke. “He was hellbent on taking everything away that could stop him. The dragons would have been a great aid to you, even the two you had put a dent in his troops I am sure.”
Elias nodded and then looked to the two. “Come, we can get you something to eat hm?” He looked over Adrian and Sylvia. “The others will be here by the morning. It takes about a day for the old council to gather.”
Adrian looked to Sylvia and then nodded. “I would like to go to the library, to see if I can find anything on this…there has to be something. The collection this tower has is at least twice what the tower in our world has.” She spoke as Elias led them from the room.
Elias glanced over his shoulder. “It’s incredible the differences between our worlds…” He spoke, thinking. “To think that your lives are so much different than that of ours…” He shook his head, “I cannot imagine that monster being alive.”
Adrian nodded, “Monster is putting it lightly.” She spoke as they entered the library. Adrian began to thumb through books. She took in a deep breath and sat down after a few minutes. They were alone in the library. “Please tell me we are dreaming, Sylvia…” She spoke and looked to her. “This can’t be happening.” She shook her head.
**
The king cackled as he watched through the looking glass as the tower fell. “Look.” He spoke and looked to Elias. “Isn’t it a beautiful sight?” He asked as the tower crumbled from explosives. “To think, the last two mages that stood in my path, they are both dead.” He grinned devilishly.
Elias looked into the glass, his eyes full of sadness. “Everything is gone.” He spoke, “All of the knowledge, the years of teaching, young innocent lives.”
The king gripped his throat and slammed him against the wall. “Look mage.” He snapped. “You’ll enjoy this or I’ll have you hanged for the death of my daughter.” He held a dagger to his throat. “I’ll make sure all this is pinned on you. I’ll let the townspeople rip you to shreds.”
Elias choked and shut his eyes tightly. “Okay.” He fell to his knees as he was released. He gasped for air.
“Get out of my sight.” The king spoke.
“Of course my king.” He bowed and left the room. He wound through the halls of the castle until he made it to his tiny room. He sat down and opened a book. A rune was drawn in blood on the inside of the binder. “I hope wherever I sent you is better off than here…” He whispered. “If you find your way back I pray to the maker you have a plan.”
