Adrian watched as Sylvia spoke back and forth with Murdoc. “The problem with this world is that no one believes in the gods.” She watched closely as Murdoc held his blade still aimed at Sylvia. She looked at Fredrick a long moment. She remembered his eyes when the kings men attacked the city. “Would you have your daughter grow up fatherless?” She asked, “Motherless?” She held her hands forward and an orb of shadows appeared. Within the orb the kings men stood on the crest of the hill. “Valarian will fall, as many other cities will be trampled by the king soon after. You think that his soldiers killing those who stand against them is bad enough?” She watched as the soldiers stormed the city, killing every living thing in site.
Fredrick watched as they seemingly flew through the city and the view panned in on the young Adrian as her father carried her through the city as flaming arrows rained down upon them. “H-how do you know of my family?” He asked and looked to her.
“They are pulling at thin lines in the air trying to confuse us.” Thalor spoke he suddenly threw a dagger at Adrian.
Adrian grit her teeth as the dagger stopped mid throw, it swirled with shadows and fell onto the center of the table. “There is no confusion here.” She looked to the mage. “Without the gods this world will crumble. Demons will reign.” She took in a breath. “If you don’t listen to us everything will be destroyed, you’re fighting to save this world…yet if you do this one thing, no matter how hard you try everything will fall apart and the demons will rise. Wars will break out like wildfire across the lands, you will no longer have allies. Do you really want that? To lose everything? For what…?” She paused she stared at the four mages. “For a speck of power that will ultimately kill you? For power that the king will wield in the future when you’re all dead and gone, when no one can protect it anymore….”
Fredrick loosened slightly he lowered his dagger. “What do we do…?” He asked. “How do we stop the king? His army is huge and grows by the day. He’s been recruiting blood mages…if we don’t stop him….”
Adrian took in a breath, “This is not the way.” She reached forward and lifted the scroll from the table. Murdoc’s writing was scrawled across it. “Azeralite is not the answer.”
Thalor grit his teeth. “You’re going to let this demon ruin us Fredrick!” He rushed forward, suddenly his hand gripped around Adrian’s neck and he slammed her against the wall. Her hood fell and her face was revealed, shadows overtook her skin around her eyes making it impossible to see her actual face, just like Thanatos. Her eyes were blood red as she looked up to him.
Strike him down. Thanatos spoke. Put an end to this mage. Show them what happens when you meddle in the affairs of the gods. He chuckled afterward.
“No.” She whispered softly. She stared into his eyes. “You’re going to get everyone killed Thalor.”
The mage grit his teeth. “You’re a demon, ridding you from this world will ultimately make it a better place.” He drew his second dagger and stabbed it forward.
The dagger stopped just millimeters from her abdomen. Strike him down. Thanatos ordered. Do it now. Adrian grit her teeth her eyes flashed with red power. She had no choice. Her hand gripped the cylinder upon her thigh and she pulled it from the holster. Thalor was blasted back as shadows swirled around Adrian. His dagger fell from his hand as he watched the small cylinder extend and a scythe fold out from the pole. It was silver with a blew glow. Ribbons hung from the scythe as Adrian stepped forward. “You are going to get them all killed Thalor.” She spoke as she stared to him.
Thalor stumbled back he lifted his hands as energy surrounded his fists. “Help me out!” He cried. He swung forward. Shadows swirled around his body. He choked as the shadows constricted around him.
That’s it. Now end him. Thanatos chuckled. Do it.
Adrian brought her scythe forward in an underhand motion. She swept the blade upward into Thalor’s chest. He let out a cry as it pierced through his body and he was lifted up from the ground. His body lit up with embers, his skin cracked and then suddenly he burst into ashes. Adrian lowered her scythe, her chest heaved. She took a step back as she watched the ashes fall to the floor.
Very good, that’s one. Thanatos chuckled.
“No demon can do that.” Fredrick spoke his eyes staring to Adrian. “H-how did you do that?”
Adrian took in shaken breaths, “I told you, we’ve been sent by the gods. You must stop this.”

Sylvia watched as Thalor lunged forward, she gave a large sigh and then stepped from her spot. They were so focused on Adrian, that Sylvia walked over to the scroll. She lifted it up and then suddenly it lit aflame. She tossed the burning scroll down on the table and then stepped back.
“I’m done with this. It took much effort to come and warn you, to stop you, either you will listen, or you will not. Your doom is your choice to make… we have far too much to do than to meddle with a bunch of foolish mages dabbling in the likes of which they do not know… Very well.” She pulled out her Hour Glass from her necklace, and suddenly it grew large enough for her to hold.
“Farewell humans… I wish you the best.” She stepped over to Adrian and touched her shoulder. Suddenly they teleported. They stood in the Astral room, she plucked the orb from the air and threw it. It turned into a round image… they spied on the group.
“She killed Thalor….” Murdoc stepped over to the ashes, he lifted a handful of it and then let it fall from his fingers… “The Grand Master will surely question his death…” he shook his head. “What will we say?”

Adrian took in a breath as they teleported. She looked to Sylvia the shadows disappeared from her face and her eyes melted back to blue with the shadows swirling about in the iris. She looked to the orb that Sylvia plucked and watched as the three remaining mages stood in the room.
“We were trying to perform a spell that was far beyond our abilities and Thalor tried to perform it alone.” Fredrick spoke he looked to the ashes upon the table where the scroll once sat. “He was pushing this forward, after all.” He looked to the ashes upon the floor. “Those were not demons.”
“Certainly not.” Remus spoke his arms crossed. “Though Gods to not exist…at least that is what we were raised to believe.”
“I think there is more to the world than we will ever know.” Fredrick spoke, “We must get inside the castle and end the king. Azeralite is not the key, you heard them. You saw those orbs they carried…” He glanced to Murdoc. “You have a child on the way?” He asked then. “
**
Clapping sounded in the astral plane. “Very good.” Thanatos spoke as he appeared, a grin on his lips. “I can’t wait for you to reap the rest of the souls you owe me.” He chuckled and looked to Sylvia. “You’re going to make an excellent team.”
Adrian looked to him, “That could have cost us everything.” She spoke, her brows tucked together.
“Ah but what fun would it be if you played by the rules of humans? You’re demi gods now, act like it.” Thanatos grinned, “Sylvia is getting the hang of it.” He stepped forward and observed the orbs. “I really do wish I had a room like this.” He sighed, “The light gods always get the cool stuff.” He poked at an orb and grinned as it grew larger. “Oh yes, this is fun.” He chuckled.

Sylvia stared into the mirror, her eyes watching over her father… Adrian’s father, and the others. She sucked in a deep breath and let it out slowly. “I commend them for trying every avenue, if I knew of such a thing at the time… I would have tried too. Even if it cost me my life. Anything to stop my father… it is worthwhile to invest. All I can say is that despite it all… we have done a good deed…” she crossed her arms and then pondered for a moment.
Suddenly Thanatos appeared, his clap was reverberating and loud. She turned and stared to him as he stepped about them – his eyes looking to the orbs. As he grasped one Sylvia squeezed her brows together.
Circe appeared and reached forward – plucking the orb from his hands. “Now now Thanatos, you know my rules. No touching…” she let the orb go and it lifted into the air – floating amongst the thousand others. The orbs seem to continue further than the stars, some glowing pink, red, black, and blue. Each color must have some kind of meaning…
“You know I don’t like your concept of light and dark gods. We are neutral, you just happen to chose to wear all black. You’re like that teenager going through his goth phase… but… you want to strike fear into their hearts, so black suits you…if it bothers you so much -why don’t you plead to Zues and quit crying, hm?” Circe turned towards the two girls and then nodded. “I don’t exactly 100 percent approve with your tactic, but it worked none the less. You are able to do what we cannot… show yourself, and speak for the gods. Some realms need a bit of that… to show them that we are here, we are watching…” she glanced to Thanatos who was smiling.
“I think your message is good, it is the most important theory – Balance. That is what we are here to accomplish, but cannot help if the realm chooses to reject it…” she glanced to her orbs. “As you can see… we have little time for the realms who reject us, thousands of others who beckon for our call. You should know… there is more than just dimensions of your world, but other worlds too, planets too… you should know that there are other gods that rule over different Galaxies…” she held her hand up. Suddenly a huge galaxy appeared. It was oval shaped and full of a million little lights.
“This is where you are from…” she pointed, a sun lit up and zoomed inward, to view 8 planets rotating around 1 sun. “This is just 1 of million stars in our galaxy… of which we rule. There is always the looming threat of other gods, wishing to take our worlds… you should always be aware of this. For that sake.. you should take some time and meet and get to know our gods. It has been thousands of years since the last war, but you never know..” she then nodded. “But remember your true job, reap souls… repair time and space…” she pulled out a small handbook, it was like a diary, and handed it to Sylvia.
“I must be off” Circe then disappeared into a collection of sand that fluttered away.
Sylvia opened the book and glanced to the first image. It explained the orbs.. the colors and their meanings.
“Ah, do you see that?” Thanatos questioned and pointed. A small spider came downward, and then suddenly transformed into a beautiful young woman. The woman then split into three. A young one, a middle aged one, and an older – each looked completely different.
“Ahh, Fate, come to visit” Thanatos grinned. “Clotho..” he pointed to the youngest, who had cherry red spiraling hair, “Lachesis” middle aged woman with straight brunette hair, “and old lady Atropos…” he smiled. “Atropos and I are good friends you see, she cuts the thread of life, she decides when their time is up. She cuts, I reap” he grinned then.
Clotho smiled and nodded “We all work together, at some point or another… I create the thread of life, Lachesis spins the thread with others that cross paths, and yes.. Atropos cuts the thread. You should know…” Clotho pulled out two threads, she laid them on the ground and suddenly it grew to a massive scale. Other threads tied into it and left, others twisting into the original thread. “This is your web of fate…which is now a complete cluster… you put Lachesis to a real trouble, you know. We remember when we created both of your lines, you should know… you have a lot of impact, in almost every dimension you both were in. There is a very good reason you two are now Demi-gods, you are single-handedly the most influential and powerful people of your time, no matter the story, you have some kind of part in it…” the webs disappeared then. “But you cause a lot of havoc too” she chuckled. “You might enjoy cleaning up your own mess..” she pointed. Several orbs lit up. “that might get you a handle on your abilities… start some where familiar…” she nodded then. The 3 women came back into 1 and she morphed into a spider. “Good luck…” and the spider crawled back up its line….

Adrian watched as Circe took the orb from Thanatos. He crossed his arms and smirked at her as she spoke of the galaxies. The orbs. Adrian looked to the diary that Circe handed to Sylvia. “There isn’t really a handbook in reaping souls.” Thanatos spoke and chuckled. “You’ve done one, however you caused the death of that mage. It’s different when they are dying. When you take their soul at the end of their life.” He then looked to the spider that came down. The fates.
Adrian drew her brows together. So much, so fast. She stared to the web of string how tangled it became. With that, the fates were gone. Thanatos grinned as he looked to the several orbs that floated forward. “Ooo these could be fun.” He then glanced to Adrian. “You don’t think I look like a teenager, do you?” He frowned and pulled at his clothing before he then glanced to Sylvia. “I thought I was rather ravishing.” He chuckled then.
Adrian shook her head and then let out a laugh. His personality was quirky. But, she imagined with the years of reaping souls that’s what developed the way he acted. “So where do we start?” She asked as she looked to the orbs. “What do all these colors mean?” She reached forward toward an orb.
“Avoiding the question I see.” He let out a sigh. “Is that where you want to go?” He glanced to the orb that Adrian held in her hands now. “Oh that could be fun. You see the timeline has changed with you appearing back then.” He pointed to an orb where the mages still stood around the table. “The appearance of Demi Gods in that time has caused a disruption. A good one though.” He winked and chuckled. “Go on then.” He tapped the orb and it grew into a portal. “Get me some souls, hm?” He looked to Sylvia. “toodaloo dear.” He smiled to her before he was swirled with shadows and disappeared.
Adrian looked to Sylvia for moment. “Okay, clean up our own mess huh?” She reached out and grabbed Sylvia’s hand before she pulled her through the portal.
As they emerged from the other side the heat of flames could be felt. The smell of rain entered her nostrils. Adrian looked around and her brows tucked together. “This…shouldn’t be happening.” She looked up to the hillside as arrows were shot forward. “The king’s men.” She spoke. “How? When is this…where is this?” She looked around the city then and her heart fell. “No…” She shook her head. It was Taralium. Adrian disappeared into a swirl of shadows then, rushing through the city. She stood before the captain of the regiments then, her hood raised. “Who sent you?” She questioned.
The captain jumped back slightly and stared to her. “Our noble king. Did he release you from your cage demon?” The knights around them chuckled.
Adrian took in quick breaths. Had Sylvanas not killed the king? Did they not prevent this? Suddenly Adrian was ripped backward. She landed on her back in a shadowy dimension. “You can’t prevent everything.” Thanatos spoke. He stared down to her.
“You promised…you promised they’d live.” She choked out, tears welled in her eyes.
Thanatos grinned then. “I only promised to bring the souls back, I never promised how the timeline would play out. That is for Fate to decide.” He smirked then.
Adrian took in heavy breaths, “No…what about the other realm…Sylvanas killed the king…and…”
Thanatos tilted his head slightly, “Yes, but that is another time another world completely.” He looked to her and smiled. “Know this, for every life you save, I’ll require you to bring me twice the souls.” He chuckled then, “Though Fate may strangle you for creating a mess of their twine.” He turned to her and lifted her to her feet. Thanatos stared into her eyes. “The mess that you create is yours to deal with.” He shoved her back.
Adrian gasped as she skidded in the mud. Flaming arrowed rained down on the city, the yells of the soldiers as they rushed forward with their attack echoed through the town. “No…” She breathed. She rushed forward then, she had to stop them. She had to save them.

Sylvia gasped as they slipped into the portal. She stood in her attire – eyes looking over the burning city. She grit her teeth as her eyes stared to the soldiers – her fathers soldiers – slaying innocents… her eyes turned to Adrian who was frozen in her place. Just then she spied a young girl running out into the rain, her father just behind her.
Young Adrian… her father, pushing her into the home. Sylvanas hadn’t kill the King… so this part of the timeline continued. Does that mean Sylvanas was still alive? She squeezed her eyebrows together and then rushed forward. She ran towards her father – “You must take your child and wife and go!” she shouted as she raised her hand – blasting a soldier that rushed forward.
“I cannot let them destroy my home!” He held his sword up, deflecting a blow.
“There are too many! You cannot fight them off!” She shouted over another soldier. Somehow she had changed her look, she did not wear bright clothing – instead it was blue robes, her hair was short pixie cut. “There is honor in protecting your family. You may lose your home, but you will gain another day with them.” She blasted another.
Finally her father looked to her and then nodded. “Go, I’ll cover you” she spoke and picked up a sword from the ground, dropped by a dead soldier. She parried and slashed at another soldier, keeping them at bay from the soldiers. “I know about your secret tunnel – take it, your family, live for the chance to bring the King down!” she shouted…
Just know that all lives end at some point… Fate will have her way, no matter your influence… they may not die today, but you cannot prevent them all… Circe spoke in her mind. Suddenly Adrian re-appeared.
“I convinced her father to retreat with your younger self, and your mother. I will guard the home, you make sure they make it” she spoke and glanced to her. “To defeat the King the world will need all of the great mages, he must live.” Sylvia spoke and then nodded. “Go, I’ll catch up”

Adrian looked around the city to the knights as they murdered innocent lives. She grit her teeth and nodded. She took a step forward and her appearance changed as well. She had long curly brown hair and green eyes, she wore black pants and a dark green corset. “Thank you, Sylvia.” She spoke as she rushed off. She pulled a sword from her hip and rushed forward.
So many souls, don’t forget what your job is, Adrian. Thanatos spoke in her mind.
Adrian shook her head. She sliced into a knight that was chasing after her parents. “Come on this way.” She rushed in front of them and blasted a knight with her power. They ran for what felt like ages until they were well out of the city. Adrian glanced over her shoulder as plumes of smoke rose into the skies, tears streamed down her cheeks she’d killed several knights on the way out, easily fending them off.
Fredrick stepped over to her, “Thank you.” He spoke and offered a gentle smile. “My wife and I will be heading to the magi tower, you’re welcome to come along….we could use a mage like you.” He spoke and searched her eyes.
Adrian glanced to Lillian whom held the young Adrian in her arms. Her memories flashed before her eyes and she stumbled slightly. “I…can’t…” She shook her head and looked back to the city.
“If it is a family member…they’re gone.” Fredrick spoke. “No one made it out, I’m surprised we made it…if it wasn’t for you…” He looked back to the city. “The king must be stopped…”
“I can’t go with you.” She looked to him, “Go, run don’t stop for anything until you’ve reached the safety of the tower.” She turned then and ran back toward the city. As Adrian approached the city her appearance began to shift back into her reaper form. She pulled the cylinder from her thigh. The world around her darkened, she could see the souls of the recently deceased looking around, wandering the city aimlessly. Confused. Adrian sliced through knights, turning them to ashes as she rushed into the city. She brought down every last knight until she stood before the captain. He trembled as he stared into her red eyes.
“Y-you….you’re not a demon.” He choked out.
“No. I’m not a pawn of some human king that preys upon innocent lives.” She spoke, her voice harsh. “I will be coming for the king soon enough. His time will wear thin.” She slammed her elbow into the side of his head then before she rushed back into the city. The souls began to wander toward her.
“Where’s my family?”
“Momma?” A young boy cried.
“My wife! Where is she?!” Another soul sobbed.
Adrian stepped forward she cupped the cheek of the young child as she knelt before him. All of the souls appeared as blue versions just like in the phase. “You’ll find your mother.” She whispered. “I’m sorry that you couldn’t be saved.” She searched his eyes a moment. “Go on, you’re safe now.” She nodded. The blue form lit up bright orange and he disappeared.
Adrian walked up to the next man that wandered back and forth sobbing. “Lucas.” She spoke as she stepped to him, she cupped his cheek as well, the fear on his face softened as he stared into her eyes. “Everything is going to be okay.” She searched his eyes. “You’ll find Helen soon.” He too then lit up into an orange light before he disappeared.
Adrian did this with each individual soul. She spoke to each one, she reassured them and then they were able to cross over. Adrian stood in the center of town then, she stared to the bodies. Tears streamed down her cheeks. “We couldn’t stop it….” She whispered.

Sylvia looked to Adrian – she couldn’t see the spirits like her, but she knew she was sending them. That was the word she was going to use… Sending. Off to wherever they belong. She waited patiently, her eyes looking to the dead. Women, children, men – they were strung along, dead bodies after another. Their blood was washed away by the rain, and seeping into the soil.
Adrian finally finished, and it seemed all was quiet. Sylvia slowly approached Adrian and placed a hand on her back. “Somethings we cannot stop… somethings must be done. If we prevent one evil – another will take its place. This act is what wills balance to occur. This battle will fuel the tower into taking action, other wise the grand master might not be convinced. It serves a greater purpose. No matter – war will always happen, people will die… Let us just be thankful your family survived this round, and now there is hope to defeating the King…” she spoke and grasped her hand.
“If this world followed the same story as the other dimensions – then why have dimensions? Alternate timelines, they can’t be the same… that just wouldn’t make sense…” she put a hand on her cheek. “This wont be the end of it…” she spoke and then turned her head.
“We have the rest of eternity.. let’s see how this plays out?” she questioned and held up her hour glass necklace. They teleported to the tower in an instant and she morphed into her other appearance. “I shall name myself Lenna, you are Nym hm? We can still play a part in this, we can influence them to make the right choice – rather than forcing them too… In the handbook it says that often great leaders were demi-gods in disguise, if we force their hand then we meddle to deep and cause the balance to skew, you see?” she questioned…

Adrian looked to Sylvia with sad eyes. “I just hoped that we could save this world.” She whispered softly. “Changing the deaths the king caused seems to be a harder act that we thought.” They moved to the tower and Adrian took on her other form. She gave a nod and a gentle smile. “At least one of us has a handbook.” She chuckled afterward. “I’m supposed to just know what to do.” She rolled her eyes and then smirked. “Circe seems to be more of a mentor.” She looked about the tower as mages walked about. “We will influence them. We can get them to stop the king.” She nodded. “We have to get them to stop him…” She then furrowed her brows. “Do you think Sylvanas is the queen then?” She questioned. “If Murdoc didn’t get the Azeralite…did she still give herself to the king?”
Adrian’s question was soon answered when she saw Sylvanas walking down the hallway. She bit her lip slightly. “If she didn’t go….then who is at the castle with the king?”
“Alarms!!!” A mage called. “Get to your stations!!! Alarms!!!” He went running down the halls. “The king’s men!!! He’s brought demons!!!” He cried. Alarms began to sound and mages rushed about.
Adrian looked to Sylvia. “Sylvanas gave herself up to the king to prevent this attack in the previous timeline…” She spoke softly.
“What are you doing just standing there?” A mage ran by. “We have to defend the tower!!”
Adrian took in a breath. “We have to stop them.” She then grinned. “I don’t mind a good fight.” She rushed forward and stepped onto the teleporter the same time that Julius stepped on. He glanced to her, his eyes curious. He also looked to Sylvia a moment before he rushed off to fight. Adrian looked to Sylvia, “Shall we?” She grinned then as she pulled her sword from her hip, it glowed with red writing. It was her scythe. She rushed forward toward the soldiers and demons that ran toward the tower. Adrian sliced through a few knights a grin on her lips. Whatever happened when she reaped souls like this, it gave her some sort of surge of power, and the power felt incredible. She stabbed a knight in his chest. “Good night.” She chuckled as she kicked him off of her sword. She then spun and found herself staring into the eyes of a demon.
“Reaper.” The demon spoke, his eyes narrowed.
“That’s a cute skill you have there.” Adrian looked to him as the fighting continued around them.
“You can’t reap my soul.” He snickered. “I’m already dead.”
“Ah but I can kill you. Can’t I?” Adrian lunged forward. They began to duel. His powers against hers. They stood in the center of it all. Blasts of energy came from both of them as they fought. Adrian was knocked back, she grit her teeth and rushed forward. Shadows swirled up around her as she slammed her fist into his jaw. She pinned him and brought a dagger to his throat. “Too easy.” She winked to him before she sliced his throat. The dagger lit up a bright blue color as the demon turned to ash.
Adrian stood slowly and sliced her sword into another knight as he tried to attack her. She then spun, looking for Sylvia as everything began to calm. She looked around to the souls that walked around aimlessly. She took in a breath. As much as she didn’t want to allow these horrible knights to cross over, it was her duty. She moved and held her sword forward, she pierced it into the ground. It began to glow red, ancient text began to glow along the blade. The souls looked to her and stepped to her then suddenly all of the dead soldiers burst into the orange light. Adrian took in a breath as she sheathed her sword.
“Just who are you?” A voice came from behind her.
Adrian turned her head to see Julius standing there, he held his side, blood soaked over his fingers. “My name is Nym.” She offered a smile she then glanced around looking for Sylvia.
**
“She can’t be killing my demons, Thanatos!” Hades snarled. He stood before a mirror as he watched Adrian kill the demon.
Thanatos appeared next to him from a swirl of shadows. He stared to Adrian as she was approached by Julius. “Don’t worry.” He smiled. “She’ll be a good reaper, she just needs to work through a few things.” He chuckled. “A few less demons, and a few less humans, you can bring your demon back, Hades.” He then disappeared.
**
Adrian turned then her eyes rolled back and she collapsed. Julius rushed forward his eyes looking over her.
**
“You can’t kill demons, Adrian. You’re a reaper remember?” Thanatos spoke, they stood in the dark space once more. “You can’t cross that line. You’re not an angel. You’re a reaper. You work for me. I’m death. Remember?” His arms were crossed.
Adrian looked to him, his brows furrowed. “So what I just let the demon kill the mages?” She asked, her eyes swirled with fire.
Thanatos chuckled then as he watched her he smirked. “You’re full of spice, I like that. Though, you’ve angered Hades, and I can’t have him angry. We all work together. No killing demons, even though it is fun to watch them squirm.” He grinned. “I’ll add souls to your debt for this.” He held his hand out and a parchment appeared, the number on the paper rose to 100,000. “Fair?” He grinned to her, his eyes almost devilish.
Adrian looked to the paper, she had no choice but to comply. “Thanatos….I….”
“You broke the rules.” Thanatos spoke, “Continue to break the rules and I’ll own you for eternity.” He then pondered a moment. “Though, I’d like that.” He grinned and chuckled. “You’re rather fun.” He clapped then and disappeared.
**
Adrian took in a sharp breath and sat up quickly.
“Woah there…settle down.” Lunafreya placed her hand on Adrian’s chest and lay her back down. “Just relax.” She gave a gentle smile. “I’m working up a potion for you to take, that fighting took a lot out of you, hm….Nym?”
Adrian looked up to Lunafreya and sighed, “Yes, yes it did….where is my friend?” She questioned and tried to sit up again only for Lunafreya to push her back down.
“Don’t you worry, Julius will take great care of her….though sad times are upon us…our Grand Master was murdered by that demon that you vexed….” Her voice softened.
“The Grand Master….” Adrian furrowed her brows.

Sylvia rushed in front of a mage – she held her hand up and blasted a demon away. “Come on, get up” she spoke as she looked to the mage. The man stood and then nodded, he held his hands up and summoned in a rain of fire to fall upon the collection of demons.
She saw something then – a ripple came from it. She weaved through the mass of fighting mages and demons. There was a floating scar in the air, it was easily 6 feet tall. Emerging from it was a demon that grinned at her. Sylvia held her hand up and blasted him. She then glance into the crack – she could see hell.
Sylvia dug for her hourglass and held it up – time froze in an instant. She glanced to a demon who held his axe up above his head, ready to come down on a mage. She then squeezed her eyebrows and stepped into the portal. Hades sat on his throne, one leg over the side, sipping on a lemonade.
“Oh hi puppet” he threw his legs down and summoned another glass. “Lemonade?” he questioned. “No?” he tossed it behind him, the glass shattering on the ground. “I’m just doing my thing, havoc is my middle name…” he grinned – his teeth was pearly white, not what she expected…
“How are you able to interfere like that? This portal is yours” she questioned, there was a long line of demons that stood – each taking turns to step into the portal.
“Ah you know. You guys fail to do your jobs and leave a little hole of freedom for me to play in. No balance? Nothing to stop me…” he grinned and then summoned a small can. He opened it pluck a small sausage from it. “Ever had a Vienna sausage? Oh man, I went to this world one time called Earth and hell. Best thing ever… come on try one…” he laughed then. “Me and my demons helped invent something called the Nuke, yeah that was a lot of fun. They just pointed them at each other though, no one fired. Humans… quiver under such sheer power” he chuckled. “A nuke in this world? Hah!!! The world would be flat” he took another and ate it.
“You have to shut down these portals and let them figure it out” Sylvia demanded.
“Hm.. Nah. Your father is a sneaky devil you know, he summoned me” he nodded and then drank the juice from the can. “Now shoo, restart time so I can finish my episode…”
Sylvia stepped back through the portal and stared at it for a long moment. She held up her hourglass and focused – suddenly the portal disappeared. “I control the dimensions” she spoke under her breath. “Not you” she turned then and time began once more.
There was a cry from near the tower. A mage called out as she watched the blade pierce through the Grand Master, Adrian was passed out next to him, Julius holding her up. Sylvia rushed over, but was swarmed by other mages who went to check. Just then – the demons disappeared.
Suddenly Sylvia was yanked backwards, Elias stared to her. “Who are you? I’ve never met you – one moment you are standing alone, the next the demons are disappearing?” he shackled her hands. “I am sorry stranger, but until we have answers, I cannot trust you.” He then led her into the tower.
“I am Lenna, I hail from Luca, my Father and I work on magical armor.. he sent me here to try and sell some – for these times of war…” she spoke as she was placed into a chair. They were in a small room, meant for this sort of situation…
Elias stared to her and then huffed. “Such eloquent timing… and now the Grand Master is dead… You may be innocent, but I cannot make that call until a new Grand Master is selected, and he can help determine the truth.” He then proceeded to ask her several personal questions – about her father, asking for details, memories, anything that could ensure she was human… not a demon…

“Here, Nym, drink this potion, it will help you recover.” Lunafreya spoke and held out a glass of liquid that looked much like tea.
Adrian took it into her hands and wrapped her fingers around the warm mug. She looked into it at the flower pedals that floated on the surface. “What is this exactly?” She asked and looked up to the mage.
Lunafreya offered a smile, “Just a mixture of herbs that I have found that help us recover from such a heavy expenditure of power.” She turned and closed a book that was open on the counter. “Make sure you drink it all.” She turned to her once more.
Adrian nodded and took a sip. She relaxed back into the bed. It tasted delightful, of honey and rose. She made it about halfway through the glass when her body began to feel heavy. “Luna…” Her head lulled to the side and the glass rolled forward.
Just as the glass was about to fall Lunafreya reached forward and lifted it. She looked to the liquid and rose her brows slightly. “That was easier than I would have thought.” She noted. She shook Adrian slightly, her body was completely limp. “Maybe a went a tad bit heavy on the valerian root.” A knock came from the door then. “Come in.” Lunafreya turned.
The door pushed open and Julius walked in he circled around the bed and looked at Adrian for a long moment. “Who is this girl?” He asked, “She was traveling with the other. They show up and suddenly we have demons at our doorstep.” He crossed his arms. “And our Grand Master is dead.” He shook his head.
“I’m not entirely sure who she is, Julius, but what I can tell you is she is not a demon.” She held the glass up. “I put a heavy dose of Horehound in the tea. If she was a demon she would be burning on the inside, one sip and she would have been screaming.”
Julius shifted his weight then, “She saved me from that demon as well.” He glanced to Lunafreya. “Can you make another tea? One without the sleeping herb you used. I want to test this on the other girl.” He took in a breath, “I just can’t imagine what the king is plotting to have attacked us here.”
Lunafreya only offered a nod in return as she began mixing everything together and heating it in a kettle. “I don’t believe either of the two are evil. If anything they are valuable mages, Julius. The king must be stopped.” She looked to him a long moment before she poured the mug of tea. “One tea minus the Valerian root.” She smiled and looked to Adrian.
Julius looked to Adrian then and rose a brow. “Figure out who she is.” He then stepped from the room. He walked down the hallway quickly. He rounded a corner a mage stood outside of a room.
“Archmage Julius.” The mage bowed his head. “The girl is inside with Elias.”
“Thank you.” He stepped forward and walked into the room. He set the tea in front of her and sat down across from her at the table. Elias silently left the room. “Lenna.” He spoke and stared into her eyes. “We’ve never been attacked by demons before.” He didn’t break eye contact as he spoke. “It seems to be good luck that you and your friend Nym happened upon us at the same time…go ahead and enjoy some tea, and while you’re at it. Tell me about Nym, who is she? She possesses some incredibly strong magic, as do you…and her skill with the blade….” He paused for a moment. “Did you know she turned the demon that murdered our Grand Master into ashes?”

Sylvia looked to Elias as he spoke to her – her eyebrows squeezed together as she looked to the Tea. Slowly she reached forward, though she knew something was up, and took the tea. Her hands, still tethered together, cupped the mug and she sipped on it. She swished around in her mouth and then swallowed. “Hmm…” she set the mug down.
“No go on, I am sure you are famished, its some refreshing tea” he nodded, holding a cup as well. Though his was different tea… he sipped on his and smiled.
“You’ll need Concentrated Hyperion grinds to activate it…” she chuckled then.
“What do you mean?” Elias stared to her.
Sylvia finally sighed and held her hands up – suddenly the shackles unclicked and fell loose from her wrists. “If I was a danger to you, you would know about it by now. I have played along with your antics for the sake of it, and now you anger me with a truth serum…” she sighed and then stood up, brushing her robes off. “One day you all should stop asking questions and just accept aid when it comes to you…”
Elias stood up – blocking her path from leaving. “I cannot let you leave this room, not until you receive the okay…” he stared to her, and then pulled his staff out, ready to fight her.
“I don’t want to fight you…” Sylvia spoke.
“Who… are you?” he questioned through his teeth.
“You know, just because a mage isn’t raised here in the tower does not mean powerful mages don’t exist. You are naïve to make such assumptions…. Now let me go, so I can check on my friend Nym…” she looked to him with serious eyes.
Elias lowered his staff and then turned – he opened the door. “Follow me… I’ll take you to her…” he spoke and then lead Sylvia forward.
Lunafreya had just stepped out of the room as Elias rounded the corner. “Elias? Did it wo-“ her eyes spied Sylvia. “She is a mage, just as us… nothing more..” He spoke and looked to her, he made a decision then. He could have told Lunafreya he was still worried, and didn’t trust her… but he gave Sylvia the benefit of the doubt. Something he only hoped was the right decision…
Sylvia nodded her head “There are many other powerful mages out there beyond the circle… it would be wise to call out to them in this time of need…”
Lunafreya shifted her eyes and then nodded. “very well… come in, speak with Julius…” she held the door open.
“Luna, let me talk to you…” Elias spoke and lead her outside of the room.
Sylvia stood before Julius, her eyes looking to Adrian. “What have you done to Nym?” she questioned and knelt down, her hand placed on Adrian’s shoulder.
“Nothing… she has been this way since the battle…” Julius spoke and then stood. “So Elias trusts you then, it does not mean I trust you. Tell me, do you know of why the demons attacked?” he questioned.
Sylvia glanced up and then stood. “A few weeks ago my father came across a knight of the King. Luca is a neutral city who serves all, even the King… My father did some work for him, but managed to get him to spill a little. The knight spoke of a blood scroll that is believed to be stored here, one that steals the magic of sacrificed… it was a stretch, but it gave the King reason enough to finally attack. If we were to have sent a bird – it could have been intercepted, I was hoping I could get here soon enough to warn you, and prepare for the battle… I failed…” she lowered her head.
Julius stood and stared into her eyes. “Hm…” he stepped back and sat down. “I knew the King was running short of ideas…” he placed a hand on his chin and nodded. “Very well… if Nym says the same, then I will believe you.. for now…”
Sylvia looked to Adrian and then crouched back down. She placed a hand on her forehead and then shut her eyes…
Adrian…. Wake up… Julius is here to question us… I told him a story, that the King is trying to locate blood scrolls within the tower, as a resort for power, which is why he attacked… I can only hope you can hear me now… wake up…. she then leaned back and let out a sigh.

“You’re far too trusting.” Thanatos spoke a smile on his lips. “Would you like some tea? It’ll heal you.” He held a glass forward and grinned.
Adrian narrowed her brows, her arms crossed. “I know it was a mistake to drink that tea, but what else was I to do?” She asked softly.
“You’re a demi god!” Thanatos grinned and chuckled. “What couldn’t you do….that should be your real question.” He winked then before he tossed the tea to the side, it vanished into the shadows. “I really could liven this place up a bit, couldn’t I? It’s a tad boring.” He glanced around to the nothingness that was his home. “All the other gods have something, a home really. I have a void.” He looked to her and then grinned. “I supposed its because I reap souls. I’m too busy to be sitting in a lovely chair watching my demons destroy things.”
“But you wish you could.” Hades spoke as he stepped into the shadows. He looked to Adrian then a grin upon his lips. “You know that demon you killed was one of my prized demons. They don’t come along often. You scattered his soul, scrambled it like an egg.” He took a bite of a red apple and tilted his head slightly. “You’re going to cause a lot of grief for me aren’t you?” He stepped forward, “Just remember love, I’m on your side, I work with you, no against you.” He then flashed a smile. “Apple?” He held it up and pushed it into her hands. “You look famished, poor dear.” He cupped her cheek a moment before he disappeared.
Adrian looked to the apple a moment and then looked to Thanatos. “If a demon tries to destroy what Sylvia and I are trying to repair I will kill it.”
Thanatos chuckled, a wide grin on his lips. “Good, Hades deserves a bit of competition. Just remember the consequences.”
It was then that Sylvia’s words echoed through the darkness like the light of a lighthouse in the fog. Adrian looked around. “Sylvia?” She questioned.
“Go on and get me some souls, love.” Thanatos waved his hand.
**
Adrian’s eyes fluttered open. She stared at Sylvia for a long moment. Julius stepped forward then. “Alright.” He looked into Adrian’s eyes. “Tell me why you’re here.”
Adrian looked to him her eyelids still heavy. “You poisoned me…” She breathed, she could barely focus.
Julius drew his brows together. “It’s not a poison. Answer the question.”
Adrian fought for focus, “To warn you.” She replied, fighting the serum.
“To warn us of what?” Julius asked raising a brow.
“The demons the king sent them, to storm the tower for the blood scrolls…he’s running out of options…we need reinforcements…we need to stop the king.” Adrian stared into his eyes.
Julius glanced to Sylvia a moment and stood. “This still doesn’t mean I trust you.” He spoke, “But unfortunately it doesn’t seem I have a choice.”
Adrian stood and crossed her arms. “In times of need sometimes great allies arise. You should take the gift that is given to you, Julius.” She stepped to Sylvia’s side.
Julius stared to the two for a moment. “Very well, you will stay here, on watch until we have a new Grand Master, your fate will then be decided.”
Adrian shook her head. “Fate? I saved you.” She snapped, her eyes swirled with fire. “Can’t you even say thank you? Some way of saying thank you by locking us up and giving poisoned tea to me that knocked me out.” Her expression was angry. “Don’t you know how to take a bone when you’re thrown it? If we wanted to harm you or the circle we would have done that already, you would be dead.” Her hands were balled into fists.

Sylvia glanced to Adrian as she became angry. She seem to chuckle briefly – more and more she became like Thanatos, and Sylvia like Circe. Maybe there was dark and light gods? Sylvia placed her hand on Adrian’s shoulder and tilted her head. “You can’t fault them Nym, if you were in their shoes you would assume the worst as well… people have died, the Grand Master is gone… give them some space…” she spoke and then glanced to Julius, who nodded slightly.
Elias stepped back into the room, Lunafreya trailing behind them. Luna stepped over to a large text book of herbs and started flipping through it. “Hyperion Root…. Is said to only be found in the phase…” she spoke aloud and then stopped at a page. “I’ve never seen anyone come back from the phase with tangible objects…” she spoke and looked to Sylvia.
“Anything is possible…” Sylvia smiled then and sat down in the chair.
“Come on Luna… We must meet with the council. I will send our best mages to watch over you two… I just hope that trusting you is the right decision…” Julius spoke and then stepped from the room, Elias trailed after. Seconds later 4 mages stepped into the room and stood guard, they were quiet – and tried to keep their eyes from the two.
Sylvia looked to Adrian and squeezed her brows together. You must not forget what makes us different from the gods. We were humans once… we understand them, their emotions and choices. We are the bridge between the two… Don’t let Thanatos corrupt you… Sylvia send her thoughts to Adrian. This is where Julius becomes Grand Master… you remember, the old one Xavier - he held you back, argued against your thoughts, he wanted to suppress the circle, Julius wants to grow it, and defend justice… this is the fighting chance that they have. And now… the great mages have joined them, just like the other dimension.. Sylvanas, Murdoc, your father… this is the way.

Adrian grit her teeth as she looked to Sylvia. She knew she was right. She crossed her arms and shifted her weight as she watched the trio leave the room. She glanced to the 4 mages that were sent to watch over them. Adrian stepped up to one of the mages, he stared back to her his brows pulled together. “Do you talk?” She asked as she looked up to him. The mage watched her, though he didn’t speak. Adrian huffed slightly and walked back over to the desk in the center of the room. She sat down in the chair and twirled slightly. She looked to Sylvia she spoke to her in her mind. Being treated like a prisoner is quite the opposite of what I imagined saving the tower would be. Adrian sighed slightly. You’re right, maybe it is Thanatos corrupting me…this is the right direction for them.
**
Thanatos sat at a table, a serious expression on his face as he held cards in his hands. He took a drink from a glass, it was whisky on the rocks. “Hmm do you have any hellhounds?” He asked and looked across the table to Hades.
Hades looked to him, a grin split his lips. He already had several sets of cards laid out on the table. “Hmm let me see here.” He thumbed through the cards that he had left. “Nope, not here. Go fish.”
Thanatos grumbled slightly as he drew another card into his hand of cards, he had at least 15 cards in his hand and nothing on the table. He looked over his cards a moment. “Finally!” He laid down two cards.
The door to the room swung open then. A man with a well trimmed beard walked in, he had on gladiator like armor, his body was sculpted. Hades turned and looked to him, he grinned, “Ahhh Ares how nice of you to join us. Come, we saved you a seat.” He snapped his fingers, “What will you be drinking today?”
Ares narrowed his brows. “Tell me what is happening in my sandbox. Time seems to have been set back, lives have been returned. Thanatos….why are the lives returned?” He looked agitated.
“Ohhhh you didn’t tell him?” Hades looked to Thanatos. “Shame on you, Thanatos.” He snickered. “Things have changed Ares, Thanatos has a demi god, so does Circe.”
Ares stepped forward and leaned on the table, his palms against it. “A what? You get a demi god?” He then chuckled. “You….of all the gods.” He laughed heartily then.
“I happen to do quite a bit of work.” Thanatos looked up to him and then discarded a card into the pile. “Your turn Hades.”
Hades grinned and drew a card up. He looked to his stack. “Aw what a shame, I’m out.” He set down his last remaining cards.
“What?” Thanatos looked to him, “Aw man….I always loose.”
Ares smacked the cards from the table, the whisky glass flew with it and shattered against the wall. “Tell me what’s happening, Thanatos.”
Hades had an agitated look on his face. “Well that wasn’t very nice Ares. That was an expensive glass. And now my cards have whisky all over them.” He gave a hum of a sigh as he stood.
Ares glared to Hades before he looked back to Thanatos. “Well?”
Thanatos chuckled, “It’s cute when you’re mad.” He pinched his cheek. “Lighten up would you? It isn’t anything against you Ares. You can still have your fun. I have a new pet, she’s signed a contract with me.” He held his hand out and the contract appeared. “Circe has one too. As it is fitting. Circe needs me, I need her, as do our demi gods. The imbalance of this world is being corrected by these two. The mages won’t obtain the azeralite now, and things can finally smooth out.”
“A human struck a deal with death?” Ares rose a brow as he looked to him. “Incredible.” He looked over the contract and then chuckled. “You with a demi god though.” He shook his head, “That’s a joke.” He smirked. “You and Hades are both the class clowns.”
Thanatos grinned, “Oh well thank you for the compliment.” He grabbed the parchment. “I do aim to entertain someone in the least.” He chuckled then. “At least my personality isn’t such a drag.”
Ares grit his teeth, “I’ll make you regret that.” He growled and turned to leave.
“Ares.” Hades spoke up, smirking. “You owe me a glass and a set of cards. Those were collectible after all.”
Ares turned and snapped his fingers, the cards and the glass returned to the original placement. “Better?” He asked and raised a brow. He stared to the two a moment before he walked from the room.
“Such a bump on the log.” Thanatos spoke and rolled his eyes as he shuffled the cards. “I’ll win this round.” He grinned.
“Doubtful.” Hades took a drink from his glass. “But, if that’s what you want to believe.”
**
Adrian twirled around in the chair, a bored expression on her face. What do we do now Sylvia?
